Global Championship Wrestling

The Premise

>>> 1985 is the year.

>>> WWF’s Wrestlemania proved to be a huge flop, costing Vince Jr. an incredible amount of money and the morale of the locker room. It seemed that Vince’s plan for complete national domination had fallen at the final hurdle.

>>> NWA had been severely weakened by the rapid growth of the WWF, leading to their own supershow - Starrcade, pulling out shockingly lacklustre ratings too.

>>> Vince’s desire to take over the country had actually not only virtually destroyed his own business, but the business of everybody else. All the major promotions began cutting costs wherever possible, but one by one they fell into the black abyss of bankruptcy.

>>> The wrestling business had opened up and with the monopoly waiting to be seized, it was only a matter of time before somebody pounced. That man was Ric Flair, the former NWA Heavyweight Champion. The Nature Boy immediately began stylin’ and profilin’ the way only he can and after a few phone calls to some influential connections and a big dip into his own pockets , Flair was ready to take over the mission that his great rival Vince McMahon Jr. could not achieve.

>>> Before long it was official. Ric Flair had set up his own wrestling promotion, christened Global Championship Wrestling!

>>> The announcement shook the world and sent fans across the nation into raptures. With The Nature Boy at the helm and some of his closest friends on the roster, it seems like the GCW Ship will be sailing into the most successful period in the business’ history.

>>> WOOOOO!!!!

Re: Global Championship Wrestling

Interesting premise. I'm interested in seeing where you take it. The roster has a fantasy old-school feel to it.Andre, Nikta Koloff, Jake Roberts, The Faboulose Freebirds and Bruiser Brody are a few names I expected to see. Not that its bad without them. Let's see how this goes...

Re: Global Championship Wrestling

A dream lineup from the 1980's. I've seen this attempted many times with mixed levels of success. I'll be reading. Interested to see what you do with this terrific roster.
