Raw Roster:

General Manager: Vacant

Smackdown Roster:
General Manager: Vacant

Today WWE marks a shift into the future of Sports Entertainment as WWE presents the new start to World Wrestling Entertainment.

July 15th, 2009- WWE Press Release
~New changes have been made effective August 9th~

Quote:
After a rough time financially in the start of 2009, a new era will bring changes from the mind of Vince McMahon himself. As all of us start this new journey.

Change 1: 1 Brand
WWE is owner of Raw, ECW, and Smackdown brands, but as of today only two will live on in the glory. ECW will no longer be a brand, leaving Raw and Smackdown to run the company.

Change 2: Jobs
Going from 3 brands to 2 will leave a lot of workers without work. By cutting staff the WWE hopes the company will be stronger and richer.

Change 3: Shift in TV Programming
Now that ECW is out, WWE will also drop the show Superstars, but plans to have Saturday Night Main Events throughout the year.

Also with the shift in TV Programming means the shift in Pay Per Views. For now on only one Pay Per View will be hosted a month as listed as follow:

January: Royal Rumble
February: No Way Out
March: WrestleMania
April: Backlash
May: Judgment Day
June: Extreme Rules
July: The Bash
August: Summerslam
September: Unforgiven
October: Cyber Sunday
November: Survivor Series
December: Armageddon

The switch in the number of Pay Per Views brings hope that more people will be willing to buy Pay Per Views.

Change 4: Championship Overhaul
With the changes happening in the WWE as the new era begins, the only fair thing to do is make all championships vacant to start out this new journey.

The following are titles not returning and also titles that will return to Raw.

Not Returning:
ECW Championship
WWE Tag Team Championship
World Tag Team Championship

Championships that will return to Raw now:

WWE Championship
Intercontinental Championship
Women's Championship

Championships that will return to Smackdown now:
World Heavyweight Championship
United States Championship
Diva's Championship

Change 5: A New GM
Two new GM’s will be announced and will take over for Raw and Smackdown.

The new and improved WWE might be a smaller company, but World Wrestling Entertainment is ready to make the shift into your TV sets.

Stay tuned for further information.

Looks pretty professional, I guess. You could have come up with better reasons to do some things like cut Smackdown and vacating all titles. However, I understand you just wanted to jump straight into it with 1 brand, the roster you like and champions you want. The roster looks great, though I fear that you'll have to job guys you like out to others because it is too stacked imo. Less PPVs is also always a good thing and as for the GM, I hope it's Coach. Pretty good start.

Looking forward to this - and like the one brand idea. Are you going to at any point have a second show - like Heat or something? Just to further storylines a bit and give time to the underutilised?

And give Santino his own talkshow!

A little over a month since new changes have came about to WWE. But like any overhaul changes are needed along away. Raw and Smackdown will now compete only against each other. With WWE taking a new direction, something new needs to happen. So with that being said there will be a Draft to decide who will go to which brand and who will still have a job. The following is a press release.

Quote:
August 11th, 2009

World Wrestling Entertainment would like to announce of the 2009 Draft "Where New Things Happen". Some Superstars and Divas will be seeing new homes, while others will be either shipped to a developmental facility, or will lose their job all together. Who will lose their job? Who will take this opportunity to rise to the top? All will be known this Wednesday with the special Draft.

There are a couple problems needed to be worked out first. Who will represent Raw and Smackdown? Who will get to have the first chance at a draft pick? Two very big questions that need to be resolved.

Tonight will lead to a big surprise as two people will be named General Manager of Raw and Smackdown. Also a simple coin toss will decide the first 6 draft picks. Whoever wins will pick the first draft pick, then the other GM will pick, and so on and so forth till 6 names have been drafted. These 6 men will move on to draft night to represent their brand. All 6 will compete in matches with someone from the other brand. The brand with the best win total out of the three matches will be able to pick first.

New opportunities wait the Superstars and Divas. Time will tell who takes the reigns and becomes champion.
What other changes could happen with the 'plan' to fix WWE? No one knows.

But remember to check out the draft this Wednesday. "Where New Things Happen"

With tomorrow (August 12th) being the big draft day, all must wonder who is in charge of Smackdown and Raw. For you the wait is over as WWE releases news on who the General Managers are and much more.

Quote:
August 11th 2009

With one day remaining to the big draft night it is time to announce who will run Raw and Smackdown. After about a month of looking, Vince McMahon feels he has found the two best people to run the shows.

Raw: Raw needs a leader to lead them into the future, someone with experience that won't flounder under pressure like some past GM's. (Mike Adamle) Raw is used to being the flagship show so this person would need everything to work to put Raw over the top.

With that being said Vince McMahon feels the only one who he feels can put Raw back on top is none other then Eric Bischoff. His creative mind along with his past record indicates he can lead the show.

WWE.com was able to ask Eric what his plans are for the show.

"Well, if you know me then you know there is always something up my sleeve. Expect something big and new to come to your screens every Monday night."

Now with Raw's GM in place it only leads to Smackdown. Smackdown has always been the show that has been put on the back burner to Raw. With this new opportunity for the brand, they need a leader who can not only do well but lead them to be the flag ship show.

Vince knew certain people did well in the role over years, but he felt time is needing change. So for Smackdown's GM role, Vince is bringing in Shane McMahon. His own son.

Vince feels Shane can do a better job then any GM in the past. Time will only tell if that is true are not. Here is what Shane had to say to our question about his plans for the show.

"I plan to do the one thing that Teddy, Vickie, my own sister, my dad, and others couldn't do. Make Raw #1 each week, and bring the fans something they want."

Now the General Managers are in place it's time to see who their first draft picks are. Eric won the coin toss allowing him to pick first, followed by Shawn, and so on till both had three picks. Here are those results.

Raw:

1.) Triple H
2.) Chris Jericho
3.) John Cena

Smackdown:

1.) Undertaker
2.) Randy Orton
3.) Shawn Michaels

With the first 6 draft picks set, they now know who will face each other tomorrow at the draft to see which brand has the controlling pick.

Draft Card:
Triple H vs. Undertaker
Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton
John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels

More picks are to come, so watch tomorrow live from Los Angeles.
