News and Notes

- The Big Show is another taking time off. He is possibly considering retiring again.

- Two weeks ago on Smackdown! Vince McMahon said he had an announcement at Backlash. We had confirmed that it was regarding Pay-Per-View. Rumor has it that it has to do with the June Pay-per-view Extreme Rules.

- WWE.com has announced The Miz versus John Morrison for Superstars.

- Expect one more big draft trade coming up.

Cole: Welcome to the return of WWE superstars, on WGN America! Tonight for the RAW side of things non-title action as Booker T takes on MVP! But, first a match just announced over WWE.com.

As he says this “Reality” hits to a heel reaction and here comes The Miz.

Lillian: The following contest is scheduled for one-fall making his way to the ring The Miz!

Miz gets in the ring taunting.

“This Ain’t No Make Believe” hits to a pop and out comes John Morrison.

Lillian: And his opponent; from Los Angeles; California: John Morrison!

Morrison moves in slo-mo as we are shown a replay of Monday.

Replay: Morrison gives Miz a moonlight drive then goes up top and hits a Split-Legged Corkscrew!

Morrison smirks at the replay as The Miz looks angry.

John Morrison vs. The Miz
Fast paced match. The Miz whips Morrison in to the corner. The Miz runs in for a clothesline follow-up. Morrison moves and Miz hits the turnbuckles hard. Miz staggers back and Morrison spring boards off with his vintage back kick. Miz goes down. Morrison goes up top for the Corkscrew and tries it but Miz moves. Morrison somehow lands on his feet. Miz then gets a school boy and holds the tights!

Winner: The Miz

Lillian: Here is your winner The Miz!
Miz rolls out of the ring cockily. Morrison looks up at Miz angrily.

*Commercial*

“What’s Up” hits to a pop and from the audience comes R-Truth singing his theme song.

“Wings of a Fallen Angels” hits to a pop and here comes the “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels.

Chimmel: The following contest is scheduled for one-fall and is the semifinal match of the X-Division Tournament! In the ring from Charlotte; North Carolina: R-Truth! And his opponent from the City of Angels: “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels!

X-Division Semifinals
Christopher Daniels vs. R-Truth
A good, fast match. Daniels hits a big spinning heel kick and goes up for the BME. R-Truth moves and Daniels lands on his stomach and gets up bent over. Truth runs in for the Axe-Kick, but Daniels moves and hits the Last Rites!

1….

2…..

..3!

Winner: Christopher Daniels

Chimmel: Here is your winner: Christopher Daniels!

Daniels exhaustedly celebrates.

“I’m Comin” plays to a pop and from behind comes MVP.

Lillian: The following non-title contest is scheduled for one-fall! Making his way to the ring; the United States Champion: MVP!

“Can You Dig It!” hits to heat and here comes Booker T and Sharmell.

Cole: Certainly we would like to thank Powerman 5000 for the theme song “When World Collide”. Backlash is just 10 days away. And it may be just ten days Kane has to wait for revenge.

King: Both Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore have been scored victories over the past few weeks over the Big Red Machine with use of illegal tactics; no such phrase next Sunday.

JR: And as we found out earlier tonight: Christopher Daniels qualified for the finals of the X-Division Tournament and will face Shelton Benjamin, first time ever these two face off!

Foley: Normally, I’d give the advantage to X-Division veteran Daniels but, Shelton is well rested and only had to win one match.

Cole: Tommy Dreamer was cost a WWE Championship Match by Raven. These two have a storied rivalry with one another and it may well end at Backlash and Mick Foley in the middle of it all!

King: These two put the “Extreme” in Extreme Rules if you know what I mean.

JR: A rivalry of pure jealousy in my mind: Chris Jericho versus CM Punk for Money in the Bank briefcase.

Foley: Y2J got a very good shot at CM Punk on Smackdown! will he be as successful at Backlash!
Cole: Awesome Kong has a very long list of Divas on her list of taken out superstars since her short time in WWE including Victoria and Beth Phoenix; will Trish Stratus become the newest victim?

King: As you said, Awesome Kong’s taken out a lot of Divas but can she take out THE Diva.

JR: The WWE Intercontinental Championship and the TNA Legend’s Championship will be unified in this huge Triple Threat match!

Foley: Edge was getting in Rey Mysterio’s and AJ Styles business now he’s in the match should be a great one.
Cole: A few weeks ago; Vince McMahon said he had a huge announcement. We’ll find out what that is next Sunday.

King: I’m a little worried about this one but, if Mr. McMahon says it’s huge; it’s huge.

JR: These two are both former rivals and there paths are going to cross again in this big unification match.

Foley: Christian got a big upper hand on John Cena this past Friday; can he keep his momentum going heading into Backlash!

Cole: And for the first time ever Samoa Joe and Randy Orton will go one-on-one. Both men walk in to this match World Champions but only one will walk out with gold!

King: These two have known each other for less than one month and they still hate each other more than any maybe person I’ve ever seen. And it’s all going to come to a head at Backlash!

“No More Words” hits to a big pop and here comes Jeff Hardy.

Chimmel: The following contest is a Number One Contender’s Match for the World Championship! On the way to the ring first from Cameron; North Carolina: Jeff Hardy!

Jeff taunts with the crowd.

*Commercial*

Jeff is still in the ring.

“Medal” hits to another big pop. And here comes the returning Kurt Angle!

Chimmel: And his opponent form Pittsburg; Pennsylvania: Kurt Angle!

Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy
Angle dominates this match, countering Hardy’s offense with his technical arsenal. Angle pulls down the straps toward the end. Angle gets Hardy up for the Angle Slam but Hardy slips out and gets a small package!

1….

2….

..Angle gets his shoulder up!

Jeff then tries an Irish whip to Angle into the corner but Angle counters sending Hardy into the corner who comes off with a Whisper in the Wind…
And gets caught with an Ankle Lock!! Jeff is screaming in agony, looking for ropes but finding none. Angle gets a grapevine and Jeff screams more until he finally gets the ropes.

Angle brings Jeff back! Kurt’s got it in. Jeff’s to far away from the ropes and has no choice but to…
Hardy rolls Angle up!

Winner: Jeff Hardy

Chimmel: Here is your winner Jeff Hardy!!

Hardy grabs his ankle and rolls out of the ring as Angle can’t believe it! Hardy holds his hand up exhaustedly as Superstars goes off the air…

Former partner’s going off against each other doesn’t sound like an opening match. Sounds more like a mid-card, or at least the main event. This match belongs on raw or Smackdown anyway. Morrison is greater than the Miz, but that’s just my opinion.

How did Daniels come off the BME and land on his feet bent over. That defies the laws of gravity. A Daniels win was a given, though, considering R-Turth hasn’t established himself yet.

MVP and Booker T is an interesting mid-card match. I don’t quite know where you were going with this match, other than establishing Sharmell’s involvement in Booker’s matches.

“When Worlds Collide” Isn’t that song on the first Smackdown v. Raw? That makes it ancient, right? Hey, it’s your show. You have a lot of matches booked for this PPV and it seems stacked. I really hope you can pull this off.

A No. 1 Contender’s match? With Hardy and Angle? On superstars? That’s unprecedented!! Superstars was just meant to showcase the lower-cards, not bring on big matches with main eventers. Anyway, I will give you credit for the whisper in the wind into the ankle lock. The finish seemed very weak, especially given how talented both superstars are.

All in all, this didn’t seem like a normal superstars show. There were no backstage segments, and there’s usually three matches in a one-hour show. The main event was just out of place for a mid-card program. But, it’s your BTB, and I can’t stop you from running it how you want. Good luck in the future (you’re gonna need it).

I know Smackdown gives away big matches, but seriously, I think those three huge PPV like matches on free TV is unrealistic. Also I'd change the font size, the huge writing won't make up for the fact that you don't write all that much. You need to put more into your shows. More detail in the matches and add some backstage segments. It's the segments that add entertainment to a show.

Mizorrison match is something you'll have to say tuned to get.

I botched the Truth-Daniels match it's fixed.

It will be going somewhere with it.

Yeah I know it's old, I like old.

It will not normally be like this (Main Event Matches) but I figured that I should make the first show big.

Not to contradict but SM! just had a cage match with 4 former World Champs and the current one as the referee.

Pop

Orton: You’re fans like to chant “Joe is gonna kill you” no there wrong; it’s just the opposite. You see as all the fans of WWE know I am the Legend Killer. See TNA had very few that can be considered “Legends”. While people may argue I mean people who made a name for themselves in TNA. Angle came from WWE; Sting from WCW, though the few that are “legends” are guys like Joe who made a name for himself in TNA; won his first major World Title in TNA; in fact in this right some may say he is the last TNA Legend. But as I said last week: this is NOT TNA!! This is the WWE! And at Backlash I will kill the last TNA Legend.
