WWF News and Notes

Already, just twenty four hours after Wrestlemania and there has been people complaining left right and center about the event. People have been saying the under card ,except for the Triangle Ladder Match and the Triple Threat Two Out of Three Falls Matches, was a joke. The WWF do claim to pride themselves on their story lines and how their matches build off of the story lines, but if they don’t have a very solid Backlash, a lot of critics will definitely not be happy.

It is believed that Vince McMahon is very happy with numerous talents on the roster and their performances last night. It is said that McMahon was pleased with the performances of: Bull Buchanan, all four Radicalz, The Dudley Boyz, The Hardy Boyz, Edge, Christian, Chris Jericho and especially Kurt Angle. McMahon stated in a briefing before ‘Mania, that whatever guys proved they could perform well on the big stage would be put in high profile story lines, if that was not just for motivational purposes and McMahon meant it, expect big things out of some of those guys in the near future.

With positives, comes the negatives, and one man Vince McMahon was not happy with was The Big Show. Despite being dominant and performing very well in the weeks leading up to ‘Mania, Show dropped the ball when it really seemed to count. There were rumors going around a while ago that stated that Show was to win the WWF Championship at Summerslam and have a lengthy reign as champion, however, after the shocking performance he put on last night it will be interesting to see whether or not these plans are changed.

Another man who opted to spend more time on the apron then in the ring, and then when he was in the ring didn’t do much was The Godfather. Unlike Big Show, The Godfather has not been performing well for a while and it will be interesting to see whether or not he has run out of chances.

In essence, the WWF took a huge risk last night. For the first time in history, they allowed a heel to retain the company’s main championship in the main event of Wrestlemania. This is all well and good, but the fact that Triple H retained the title rather then Big Show winning it could cause some turmoil. For months on end the WWF and Vince McMahon himself have been receiving thousands of complaints and hate mail directed towards Triple H. Fans from all around the world had threatened to stop watching if Triple H holds onto the title for to long, and here we are, after the biggest event of the year, and Triple H still has the championship. It will be interesting to see just how the fans react to Triple H once again retaining the WWF Championship.

It has also been reported that the injured superstars Billy Gunn, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker are all recovering better then expected. It has been rumored that the WWF could be lucky enough to have all three back before November, however, it is just about certain that two will be back by Summerslam.

The WWF are apparently going to re-vamp things soon enough because they are under the impression that they have to many championships. A representative of the company, are on the record as saying that two championships are likely to go. At this stage, no title is penciled in to be taken off screen, but they may be soon enough.

***

The show is coming along rather slowly; however, I really am enjoying writing it. I still have a couple of posts to do before the show gets posted anyway.

I haven't seen WrestleMania 2000 in ages, and the only things I remember from it are the three matches you mentioned, so I'll take your word on how bad it was.

Looks like you plan on pushing Angle, which is good. The guy is awesome. A depush for Big Show would make me a happy camper too, really.

Not too big on you taking away some titles. I just think it made it more unique and interesting with a bit more gold, especially with the large roster anyway. If you're taking away some belts, also make a fair few firings, plz.

Get going on that show.

Hey bish.

As I have told you many a time, I was 5 years old when WrestleMania 2000 took place and I did not watch wrestling back then, but hopefully you can get me interested in this time era. I have heard only good reviews for the two matches you mentioned, so I guess I will have to take your word for saying the rest of the show was rather lucklustre .

All those names are great talents (although I have not seen much of Bull Buchanan), so hopefully all of those Superstars you mentioned are in line for a push.

Big Show and the Godfather de push or release plz.

I am looking forward to seeing how you use Triple H as the WWF Champion in the coming weeks, as now he has legitimate hate going his way, which will make him get even more over as one of the most hated men in the biz even though he was one already.

Austin and Taker returning sooner than expected is a good thing, and please don't have Rikishi as the man who ran over SCSA. I even know about that .

Less championships means more prestige IMO, so that is a good move on your part.

Good to hear that you are enjoying writing the show, which I know is coming along somewhat steadily. Good luck <3.

Ah man, just realised that it won't be long before 'Taker returns! Gonna be sweet to see what you do with him, and just how he returns. Big Show was good in 2000, or at least he could have been, if not for those stupid personas he adopted in the early stages. Let's hope you're not that stupid. I liked The Godfather up until he joined RTC, so it'd be a shame not to have his character around. Whatever you do with both, though, I know is for the better.

Glad to hear you're taking your time with the show, and most importantly - enjoying it. Can't wait for the show, mate.

Well I wasn't watching or hadn't even heard of the WWF/E at this point but let's see how this BTB goes in grabbing my attention. There is definitely potential in the roster, but I'm not too sure about the quality of the lower card, but then again I'm not even sure where people are in the terms of status.

I'm not so sure about getting rid of titles but the BTB would probably work better without the European and Hardcore championships. Also, I think getting rid of some talent might be in order as well, especially since you have too many tag teams/stables for your own good.

I'm happy with potential pushes of the Hardyz, Dudleyz, E & C and the Radicalz, especially Kurt Angle. Not so sure about Bull Buchanan as I'm yet to make up my mind on him. I sense the Godfather being released and the Big Show being depushed, and I have no problem with either.

I'll be reading Stoj. Backlash should be good.

Vince McMahon is sitting in an office, having just finished going through some paper work, twiddling his thumbs, waiting for the arrival of some of the fan mail regarding last night’s Wrestlemania. McMahon, hating when things are late, jumps up when he hears a knock on the door.

Vince McMahon: Come in!

The door opens slowly, and one of the backstage crew steps through the door timidly, holding a big bundle of mail, all directed towards Vince McMahon himself.

Vince McMahon: Just plop them on my desk, I will look at them when I’m ready.

The crew member does what he is told before quickly leaving, seemingly intimidated by the boss.

Vince McMahon: Thanks…

McMahon doesn’t read through the mail immediately, as he instead sits still while looking at the mail, perhaps waiting for something?

Then, as if on cue, in walks Shane and Stephanie McMahon who look rather dazzled: it must be a busy day for the two younger McMahons.

Vince McMahon: About time…

The younger duo look at each other and shake their heads as their father should definitely know how tough working in the business can be at times, before Shane then speaks up.

Shane McMahon: Sorry Dad, we were…

Vince interrupts his son.

Vince McMahon: Save it, we’ve got heaps of mail, let’s start reading.

For the next few hours, things are relatively silent in the office, before Shane finishes reading the last letter.

Shane McMahon: Its official, Paul can not be champion anymore…

Steph nods agreeing with Shane, but Vince doesn’t seem too happy with this statement.

Vince McMahon: Why the hell not?

Shane shakes his head, looking as if he is ready to give up, so Stephanie takes over.

Stephanie McMahon: Dad, be logical for a minute. There is so much hate mail here claiming that if Paul keeps the strap, that they will no longer watch, meaning that we could lose thousands of viewers. The best thing to do for the company right now would to take the strap off Paul, I mean, who really cares if we take it off him a bit earlier? He was scheduled to lose it at Backlash anyway?

Vince thinks for a second before speaking.

Vince McMahon: We want to be unpredictable, we want to be cutting edge and the most unpredictable thing for us to do would be to keep the strap on Paul… Yes people don’t like it, but they’re not going to stop watching. It’s all empty threats; I think we should milk this Paul/Dwayne feud for all we can. Besides, it can’t end the way things went down last night, last night just opened up a whole new chapter to the feud.

Shane, still not too sure, pipes in with a simple question which will decide the direction of the company from this point onwards.

Shane McMahon: So…we’re going to keep the strap on Paul?

Vince thinks carefully before answering this question.

Vince McMahon: I’m not sure yet… I’m going to ask some of the guys (wrestlers), ask some of the crew, speak to Patterson and Briscoe, some of the storyline writers and see just where to go from here, because I don’t want to make a decision that people within the company won’t be happy with.

Vince then leaves, as Shane and Stephanie look at each other, as they both still seem to be apprehensive regarding this whole situation.

***

It has been reported that young up and comer Essa Rios has had a family tragedy and is heading back to Mexico. Vince McMahon apparently had huge plans for him and was not happy, however Rios confronted him earlier today and respectively asked to be let off his contract, and McMahon grudgingly obliged. The World Wrestling Federation will now have to rethink some things regarding where they were heading, and we all wish Essa Rios and his family the best in his future.

***

It has been reported that Essa Rios has indeed left the company, albeit on good terms. It is now said that Rios’ manager Lita, will be paired with The Hardy Boyz. Matt Hardy and Lita apparently have a little something going on outside of wrestling, and they’re going to use this to pair these three together.

***

Pretty self explanatory this is. The Triple H thing is going to go for a little while, hopefully lead to something big. Show is about half done, I've been extremely busy, and I have four tests this week, so don't expect the preview anytime soon.

About time you got this going.

In all honesty, for now it seems somewhat pointless. You've told me yourself it will lead somewhere in the end though, so hopefully it all builds up. I'm not big on Vince calling Triple H 'Paul' and The Rock 'Dwayne'. Despite the fact that it's their real names, I'm almost certain he'd call them Hunter and Rocky. It just seemed a bit odd, really.

Essa Rios is meh. Never knew too much about the guy, so I'd be lying if I said I care that he's gone.

Get going on that show.

Nothing much going on here except that Vince is insisting on hving Trips as the Champion whilst the other two don't agree with Vinnie Mac. As you said, this is hopefully going to lead to something big, otherwise this would have seemed rather pointless. I'm looking forward to see how this pans out if it does turn out to be big.

I haven't seen much of Essa Rios as I did not watch the WWE back in this era, but Team Extreme are FTW.

Fuck the tests, hurry up with the show plz <3.

Everythings shaping up nicely. I loved WWE in 2000 and hopefully you can do better than what they did in real life.

Can't wait for the show. Good luck with this.
