Hi, this is my third attempt at a BTB on here and hopefully this one will be successful. I have tried several different approaches and this time my shows will be recapped as well as Pay Per Views. Hopefully i can be more efficient getting shows up and not getting burned out or bored with my project. My last BTB finished on the 10/02/09. Now to the back story...
WCW was at its peak, beating the WWF in the ratings and climbed the ladder to become the biggest Pro Wrestling company in the world. World Championship Wrestling had the best roster ever assembled and had Ted Turners money to support them, the future to this company could only be bright and prosperous. WCW had just come of the back of one of the biggest pay per views in their history, Starrcade 1997. With Sting defeating Hollywood Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight title in the Main event, the show drew a 1.9 buy rate. 17,500 fans paid $543,000 to see the show. But this was the beginning of the end for WCW as the company began its demise slowly falling away with the nWo storyline becoming stale and top guys like Hogan, Savage, Nash and so on wouldnt relinquish there spots to the younger wrestlers. So this is were my BTB begins, the night after Starrcade 1997, were i will endeavor to rewrite the wrongs that WCW managed to make.
Starrcade 1997 results:
Sting made Hollywood Hogan submit clean in the middle of the ring without interference to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at 16.28. Brett Hart came out at the end of the match and handed Sting the WCW World Heavyweight title and raised his hand in celebration.
Kevin Nash pinned The Giant following a jack knife powerbomb at 11.21. The Giant will be out of action for several weeks.
DDP defeated U.S champion Curt Hennig by disqualification when Rick Rude attacked Page at 14.58.
Lex Luger and the Steiners defeated Buff Bagwell, Scott Norton and Randy Savage in six man tag team action. Luger made Bagwell submit to the torture rack at 10.13.
Goldberg squashed Steve Mongo McMichael at 4.36 after the Spear and Jackhammer.
Chris Benoit defeated Kidman, Hammer and Sick Boy in a Ravens Rules handicap match. Benoit made Hammer submit at 8.49 with the Crippler cross face. The Flock and Raven beat down Benoit after the match.
Larry Zybsko defeated Eric Bischoff to maintain control of Monday Nitro when Vincents interference back fired. Zybsko won at 5.28.
Eddie Guererro pinned Dean Malenko at 17.40 after the top rope frog splash to retain the WCW Cruiserweight title.
Preview and rosters will be up soon. Hope everyone will enjoy this thread, thanks for reading so far.

There is fire works inside the huge Georgia Dome in Atlanta Georgia for tonights Monday Nitro. We then we go “The Professor” Mike Tenay, “The Brain” Bobby Hennan and Tony Schiavone at the broadcast position. They run down what happened at Starrcade and some of the matches scheduled for later on in the night. The three announcers are interrupted by the new WCW World Heavyweight champion Sting who makes his way down to the ring with the title belt around his waist. Sting climbs into the ring to a huge pop and has a microphone handed to him.
Sting cannot speak to begin with as the fans cheer him so much. He finally begins to speak and talks about finally defeating Hollywood Hogan and the New World Order at Starrcade. He says that after over a year of chasing the belt and Hogan he is very happy to say that he finally is the man in World Championship Wrestling. He says that he has two goals; Take out Hogan and the nWo and bring prestige and honor back to the WCW title. He talks about history of the belt and the former champions: Harley Race, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat and others.
Sting is interrupted by the New World Order who come out in full strength; nWo President Eric Bischoff, Hollywood Hogan, The Outsiders, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Scott Norton, Elizabeth, Randy Savage and Buff Bagwell. They march to the ring and Bischoff gets on the microphone. He tells Sting that he will do nicely as a paper champion, to hold onto the WCW title and to keep it warm for the nWo. Hogan tells Sting he got lucky at Starrcade and that he has spoken to the championship committee (J.J Dillon, Larry Zybsko and Dusty Rhodes.) and that at Souled Out it will be the rematch. Hollywood Hogan against Sting for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Scott Hall gets on the stick and tells the world that he won the battle royal at World War 3 and that he will challenge whoever wins at Souled Out to a title match at Superbrawl 1998. Hall says that either way you look at it. New World Order will have the belt a the end of Superbrawl, your just going to have to wait and see whether it is Hogan or Hall. Hogan did not look happy with this statement. Kevin Nash addresses the Giant and tells him that he put him in the hospital with a Jackknife Powerbomb and that the Outsiders want the Steiner Brothers in a match as they want there tag team titles back. Bischoff, Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Randy Savage and Elizabeth leave the ring and walk up the ramp way.
Bischoff stands at the top of the ramp as says hes got two more things to say, firstly Brett Hart will with the New World Order by the end of the night. Secondly, GET HIM he shouts as the nWo left in the ring attack Sting. Hennig, Rude, Norton and Bagwell beat down the new champion and throw him to the outside. Sting looks under the ring and finds his signature baseball bat. He climbs back in the ring and lays waste to the New World Order members. He points his bat at the scared looking members on the top of the ramp and raises his WCW World Heavyweight title in to the air.
Commercial break
The undefeated Goldberg comes out after the break and takes on Dave Taylor. Goldberg makes his entrance with Dave Taylor already standing in the ring.
Match one: Goldberg Vs Dave Taylor
Taylor gets little to no offense in on the undefeated monster. Goldberg uses plenty of power moves and stiff shots to Taylor before he hits the spear followed by the jackhammer at 2.18.
While the ring crew help Dave Taylor to the back, Mean Gene Okerlund comes out from the back and makes his way to the ring. He shows a video package of Brett “Hitman” Hart. Hart is interrupted by Ric Flair who makes his way to the ring. Flair gets a mixed response as he has walked in on Brett Harts interview. Flair tells Brett Hart that he has never been in the ring with the best so tells Hart that he cannot claim he is the best there is, best there was and the best there ever will be. Hart tells Flair that if he has a problem with Hart saying that then why doesn't Flair try do something about it. Flair tells Hart that he respects him very much and offers his hand out and Hart shakes it. The segment ends with both men raising each others arms into the air.
We go to a quick break with Souled Out being hyped up for January 24th.
We come back from the advert for Souled Out, and we see Brett Hart walking backstage towards his dressing room were he comes across nWo President Eric Bischoff and Vincent. Bischoff tells Hart that there is a spot in the New World Order open for the greatest technical wrestler to ever grace the planet. Vincent hands Hart a brief case as Bischoff and Vincent leave.
Commercial break
We come back from the break and we have a six man Lucha Libre match.
Match two: Juventud Guerrera, Super Calo and Chavo Guerrero Junior Vs La Parka, Psicosis and Silver King.
With plenty of high flying action, the six Cruiserweights did everything they could to pick up the win and perform every daring move in the book. The ending came when Sliver King went up top for a moonsault but it was blocked by Juventud who nailed a Juvi driver from the top rope for the three count at 6.35.
Chris Benoit comes out to the ring by himself and gets a microphone. He addresses Raven and his Flock and tells Raven that if he will not face him by himself one on one, and will use his puppets to attack him then he will go through every single member of the Flock until he gets his hands on Raven. The Flock come out and Raven gets on the microphone, he tells Benoit that he will sacrifice every single member of the Flock. Benoit gets out of the ring and chases the Flock and Raven to the backstage area.
Commercial break
We come back from the break and we see the WCW T.V champion Disco Inferno defend his title against Steven Regal in one on one action.
Match three, WCW T.V title match: Disco Inferno (champion) Vs Steven Regal.
The match is back and forth with Disco using his quickness to get the advantage early on. Regal uses suplexes and submission moves to ground Disco. In the end Regal gets frustrated with the situation as he cant put away Disco and threatens the referee. As Regal is shouting at the referee, Disco comes in from behind and rolls up Regal for the win. Disco retains and Regal is fuming. Disco retains at 7.40 with a roll up.
After the match Regal beats down Disco and applies an STF submission move until Booker T makes the save for Disco and forces Regal from the ring.
We go backstage to the New World Order locker room were the whole nWo is sitting in full force. Bischoff cuts a promo saying that WCW cant cope with the numbers and the sheer quality of the New World Order. Bischoff orders Scott Norton to take care of Lex Luger after the break. The Outsiders cut a short promo talking about winning the three way tonight and getting there title belts at Souled Out from the Steiners. Bischoff tells Brett Hart to accept there little offer and also says that due to the Steiners having there little troubles of late he has a shirt for Rick Steiner as he thinks he is obviously angered by Scott's vanity.
Commercial break
We come back from the break and we go to the locker room of Diamond Dallas Page. He sits in a chair and stares into the camera. He runs down the New World Order with Rick Rude and his Starrcade opponent, U.S Champion Curt Hennig being his main target. DDP says that he got cheated at Starrcade and is being held down by the nWo and Curt Hennig. DDP deserves another shot at the belt and nobody will stand in his way. He goes on to tell the New World Order to not get cocky. Sting has the WCW title and there are group of wrestlers who are going to oppose anything the nWo does. DDP stands up and looks into the camera at the end when there is a knock at the door. DDP ushers whoever it is in. Rick Rude is standing in the doorway with a sharp suit on. DDP charges but out of nowhere Hennig drills DDP in the side of the head with the WCW U.S title. DDP is down as Rude puts the boots to DDP. Hennig laughs and tells DDP he got his request and got the U.S belt.

He talks about defeating Dean Malenko at Starrcade and the fact that he is the best Cruiserweight in Mexico, the U.S and the world. He says that he wants a new challenger. Open challenge for any Cruiserweight to come to next weeks Nitro and compete in the over the top rope battle royal to determine a new number one contender.
The cameras pan backstage were we see Chris Benoit walking along a corridor. Suddenly he gets attacked by Flock members Sick Boy and Van Hammer. Benoit gets beaten down by both men, but as they go to leave, Benoit gets back to his feet and begins to fight back. He hits Van Hammer with a German suplex on the concrete floor. He then proceeds to beat down Sick Boy and drags him towards the ringside area. Benoit drags him down the ramp way and to the ring. Benoit gets on the microphone and calls for a referee to come down to the ring. Mickey Jay runs out and Benoit tells Jay to make this a Ravens rule match. Jay calls for the bell as Benoit continues his onslaught.
Match five: Chris Benoit Vs Sick Boy.
Benoit destroys Sick Boy with suplexes and a variety of weapons. The finish comes when Benoit drills Sick Boy between the eyes with a chair and then locks the crippler cross face on the unconscious Sick Boy. Jay raises Sick Boys arm three times and calls for the bell as Benoit picks up the victory at 3.19.
After the match Benoit gets on the microphone and tells Raven that thats one down and he will get his hands on Raven very soon. Trainer Danny Young and EMTs attend to the injured Sick Boy as Chris Benoit walks to the backstage area to cheers from this crowd in the Georgia Dome.

Main event match six, Triangle match for WCW Tag team title shots at Souled Out: Faces of Fear W/ Jimmy Hart Vs Public Enemy Vs The Outsiders W/ Vincent and Eric Bischoff.
With six heavyweights in the ring this was a hard hitting affair from word go. Rocco Rock, Scott Hall and Meng started out the match. With Meng picking up the early advantage. Vincent and Jimmy Hart both got involved in the match up. Vincent almost cost the Outsiders the match when he accidentally tripped up Scott Hall who was knocked down, enabling Meng to lock on the Tongan death grip.
Finish: With Johnny Grunge fighting Vincent on the outside, Meng and Rocco Rock squaring of it left The Outsiders alone with the Barbarian in the ring. Jimmy Hart try to get involved but Eric Bischoff took care of Hart. Barbarian was trying to fight of the two members of the nWo by himself but to no avail. Nash locked on the jack knife Powerbomb with help from Hall for the three count. The Outsiders won at 13.29.
After the match the nWo members stood victorious in the ring. Scott Hall and Eric Bischoff shouted at Vincent for nearly costing the Outsiders the match. The four men stood in the ring as the Faces of Fear and the Public Enemy left the ringside area. Suddenly the WCW World Tag Team champions music hit as the Steiner Brothers made there way down the aisle way. Climbing in the ring, Kevin Nash fled as the tag team champions stood next to the arguing nWo members. Eric Bischoff quickly noticed and fled from the ring as Vincent and Hall were met with a pair of thunderous Steiner lines. Hall was quickly dragged from the ring by Nash but Vincent remained and was hit with the doomsday bulldog from the top rope as the Steiners stood tall in the middle of the ring. The Steiners shouted at the cowardly Outsiders as they exited via the entrance ramp. We fade to black with the WCW World Tag Team champions the Steiner Brothers holding there tag team titles in the air.

Lex Luger defeated Scott Norton at 8.31 with a submission via the Torture Rack.
Chris Benoit made Sick Boy submit to the Crippler Crossface in a Ravens rules match at 3.19.
Scott Hall and Kevin Nash won a Triangle match when Nash pinned the Barbarian after a Jackknife Powerbomb at 13.29.
Solid opener with Sting and the nWo. Seems like you’re planning a bit too far ahead, what with this whole “Souled Out,” then “Superbawl ’98.” Almost feels like you’re selling two PPVs ahead at the same time. Great segment to put over the new champion.
I hate how Goldberg’s at the top of the show. But, at least its a squash match…
You should’ve introduced Bret Hart later in the show. That would’ve gave fans something to look forward to. Even though they kissed and made up, I can see a nice Flair/Hart feud brewing.
So, Juvi blocked the moonsault, or did he turn the moonsault into a Juvi Driver. I’m confused. Either way, great match.
You’re using Benoit? Isn’t that against the rules? Whatever. In any case, the Flock doesn’t seem like the type to run, not from one wrestler.
Typical heel loss with the whole heel-arguing-with-the-ref-bit. I see a stipulation/ rematch in the future.
Convincing nWo segment, time-filler, whatever you care to call it.
I like how Henning says “You got the title” after the attack. That was smart, because it’s technically what DDP wanted.
Powerbomb into torture rack, eh? Not a bad combination to end the match. I never expected DDP to come back after taking the shot, especially not being bandaged up.
Using Eddie too? Isn’t that also against the rules? Anyway, I see a surprise return from somebody, and Eddie loses the title.
So Benoit beat them down, and then got a squash match win over Sick Boy. Two squash matches in one night? Still, I guess this is setting up for the eventual Raven/Benoit match.
Bret’s not gonna join. You’re just trying to cause speculation. Whatever. If Bret joins, WCW’s screwed, and you wouldn’t do that, now would you?
I can’t see Vincent tripping anybody up. How does that even happen in a wrestling match? In any case, I’m thinking Vincent’s gonna leave. The question is: how and when (The Steiners/Outsiders tag title match). I like how the Steiners get the last word after the show. God forbid the nWo got the opening segment and the closing.
All-in-all, awesome WCW show (I don’t know much about WCW BTBs, but this looks like you can rival Szumi Horror and WCW Rules). The matches were short and to the point, the segments were convincing and everything looked tops. Hope to see more of this thread in the future.
Cheers The Absolute for the review very much appreciated, i will just adress a few points and answer some questions.
- Goldberg was like 30-35 wins without a loss at this time and was still doing squash matches so thats why he started the show with a squash, it also get the fans pumped up for the rest of the night.
- Juvi went up to the top rope and nailed Silver King before he hit the Juvi driver of the top. Sorry should have explained more.
- Yeah Benoit is being used, i believe you can use a deceased wrestler up until his death. But i am going to use several deceased wrestlers as Eddie, Benoit, Spiccoli and Rude are some of my favourites so as a sort of showcase to them, iw ill be using them in this BTB.
- Two squashes is alright in my opinion gets more guys on the show.
- You will have to wait and see what happens with Brett Hart and the nWo.
- Vincent would trip Scott Hall if he was whipped into the ropes and Vincent accidentaly tripped the wrong guy.
- Thanks for the compliment but no way am i a rival to Szumi or WCW rules. You will see more of this thread in the future as the shows will be recapped so i dont get bogged down writing lengthy shows and burning myself out.

Tonight on Monday Nitro we are eight days of the back of the biggest event in WCW history, Starrcade. WCW is building towards there next pay per view, Souled Out 1998.
After last weeks quick victory over Dave Taylor, the undefeated Goldberg will be in action once again when he takes on Ernest Miller in one on one action, will Goldberg extend his unbeaten record or will Miller finally knock of Goldberg and end his streak?
Last week on Nitro we saw the debut of Bret “Hitman” Hart. As he made his opening speech in WCW he was interrupted by the franchise player in WCW the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Both men expressed there respect for either man before Bret Hart walked backstage. Also last week Brett Hart was presented with money and a t-shirt from the New World Order. Will Hart have any more interaction with the nWo or Ric Flair. Find out on Nitro.
Last week WCW Cruiserweight champion Eddie Guerrero issued an open challenge to any Cruiserweight in WCW to take part in a number one contenders battle royal this week. Catch this and plenty more on Monday Nitro at 9pm central on TNT.
Nice to see Goldberg's streak continuing, Cat's a good jobber, but it'll be a horrible match. Building for a Flair-Hart match=ratings. Eddie's cruiser belt reign needs someone special to end it at his rate. Probably Mysterio, which explains booking him to win the IWGP Junior Title makes this seem obvious. Unifying the belts?
Like that you're continuing to build Raven-Benoit. The pay-off match should be amazing, as should DDP-Savage. I'll be reading
The show opens with a highlight package of last weeks Monday Nitro. Brett Harts debut on Nitro and his confrontation with Ric Flair is shown as well as the Steiners standing tall in the ring after the Triangle match. There is also a short video package of how WCW performers did the night before in the annual New Japan Pro Wrestling mega event. It shows Rey Misterio Junior defeating Jushin Thunder Liger and Ultimo Dragon to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title in a great match. The show opens with the usual pyro and fireworks as we go to the “Professor” Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone and Bobby “The Brain” Hennan. They hype up the show and say that DDP will be taking on Savage in the main event of the evening.
The New World Order make there way out to the ring. Hogan and Bischoff talk about last weeks proceedings and the hit list they have assembled. The Giant has been taken out by Nash. DDP was dealt with by Hennig and Rude. Steiners, Luger and Sting are the other four. Sting will get ticked of the list as Souled Out by Hogan. The Outsiders will tick of the Steiners and take there belts. Savage will deal with Page tonight then get his way with Luger and the PPV. Bischoff says that tonight the nWo will begin its planning for Souled Out. With the New World Order softening up the WCW wrestlers so they are ripe for the picking when the time comes. Hogan tells Savage that he will join Elizabeth in his corner tonight to watch Page lose. Hogan goes on to tell Flair and Hart that they aren't good enough to be challenging for his World title so they must fight amongst themselves. Says WCW isn't unified were as the nWo is for life. Bischoff challenges any WCW wrestlers to a six man tag team match. Hogan goes on to tell Sting to shine up the Heavyweight title really good because at the end of Superbrawl the New World Order will have the belt once again.
Sting, Luger, DDP and the Steiners make there way out. Sting tells Hogan that if he thinks that he or Hall will take the belt from him hes crazy. Sting goes on to say that the letters n-W-o will never be spray painted on the WCW World Heavyweight title again. Steiners and Luger accept the six man tag team match and DDP tells Savage that he wants New World Order blood after last weeks beat down.
We cut to the ring were Ernest Miller is standing by as Goldberg makes his entrance. The undefeated monster walks to the ring as the fans cheer.
Match one: Goldberg Vs Ernest Miller.
Goldberg dominates the match with Miller getting a very small amount of offense. Only martial arts kicks seemed to work but they couldn't stop the undefeated Goldberg nearly cutting Miller in half with a spear. Goldberg then picked Miller up and planted him with the jackhammer for the easy win at 1.56. Goldberg is now 41-0 according to “The Professor” Mike Tenay.
Commercial break
Chris Benoit makes his way out to the ring with a microphone in his hand. He climbs in the ring and begins to speak.
Benoit talks about last week on Nitro he took out Sick Boy and tonight he will take another member of the Flock out. He says he wants any member of the Flock to face him in a Ravens rules match right here and right now. Raven comes out with Riggs, Saturn, Kidman and Lodi. They stand on the entrance way and look at Benoit. Raven says that he can have any member of the Flock that he wants.
