Alright, It's been god knows how long since my last BTB, certainly longer than a month. I want to make it clear I will be writing recapped shows. PPVs will be full length. This takes place immediately after Royal Rumble 2009.
Royal Rumble Results
Royal Rumble Match
After just over 54 minutes, the final six of the Rumble match were Randy Orton (#27), Kane (#28), Chris Jericho (#29), CM Punk (#1), Triple H (#15) and Matt Hardy (#17). Orton and Jericho double-teamed Kane. Orton hit the RKO and Jericho locked him into the Walls of Jericho and refused to release it. When he finally did, Kane was left helpless and an easy elimination. Matt Hardy and CM Punk tried to eliminate eachother. Triple H then attempted to eliminate Punk and Hardy, but only succeeded in taking out Punk. Triple H was then bombarded by an attack from Chris Jericho and Randy Orton, eliminating him. The three left in the ring, Orton, Jericho and Hardy all circled the ring. Orton and Jericho knocked down Hardy and then Orton turned on Jericho eliminating him. This distraction gave Matt the oppurtunity to throw Orton over, winning the Rumble. Winner: Matt Hardy @ 59:24
World Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs. JBL w/ Shawn Michaels
After fifteen minutes of back and forth action, John Cena avoided a Clothesline From Hell and hit the FU. He attempted the pin but Shawn Michaels jumped on the apron. Cena hit him off but it gave JBL the time he needed to roll up Cena for the three count to steal the title! Winner: JBL @ 16:01
WWE Championship Match: Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Edge
Both men fought an even contest for twelve minutes or so, Edge cheating at every oppurtunity. Edge hit the Spear on the thirteen minute mark, but before he could pin pyro exploded from the turnbuckles and the ring collapsed. WWE officials swarmed the area, and the ring was re-raised and fixed. The match was going to be called a no-finish, but Vickie Guerrero came out and demanded the match be finished. Edge continued on his assault, setting up Hardy for a second Spear, but Hardy avoided it and sent Edge into the steel turnbuckle, he then hit the Twist of Fate for the win. Winner: Jeff Hardy @ 14:23
ECW Championship Match: Jack Swagger (c) vs. Matt Hardy
Matt dominated the first eight minutes, but Swagger started to make a come back. They mat wrestled for a while until Tommy Dreamer ran down to the ring and attacked Swagger, giving Swagger the DQ win. Winner: Jack Swagger @ 8:57
Women's Championship: Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Melina
Beth used her strength and allies to dominate the proceedings. Melina managed to get some momentum near the six minute mark, even hitting Extreme Makeover, but she only managed a two count. Phoenix won with a Glamazon Bomb! Winner: Beth Phoenix @ 6:44

I am not a fan of Matt Hardy winning the Rumble just don't think he is a credible enough winner. JBL as champion is good due to his brilliance on the mic hopefully you make it work. I will hopefully check back when Raw is up. Your presentation and all that is nice as well.
Looking good Rhysus, I have seen your previous threads and they have looked good. Completely different results to real life which could work either for or against your favour, but anyways, good luck! Very creative finish to the Edge and Jeff Hardy match, I would like to see where you go with this.
Well I personally would like to see you take the title off of Hardy and even though I hate CENA, JBL shouldn't be champion on the road to WrestleMania. Matt winning the Rumble is different, but Orton is the future and the WWE got it right when they had him win last night! Anyway, good look with this.
^ I don't do things how WWE would do them, or whatever. I just do what I feel will give the best storylines. But thanks for the comments and for those above too.
I also want to point out that after every PPV, I will post an updated roster list. I don't like editing the first page as it gives spoilers for those wanting to read from the beginning after some time has passed.

RAW Preview - 26th January 2009 McMahon's Hell
Mr McMahon made his long-awaited return to RAW last week, but soon was sent out on a stretcher thanks to a disgusting attack from Randy Orton. Mr McMahon is known to have suffered a concussion and will not be at RAW this week; but Stephanie and Shane McMahon will be. What hell will they unleash on Orton? Will he still be employed after this show?
New World Champion
Thanks to Shawn Michaels' interruption, John 'Bradshaw' Layfield rolled up Cena to steal the World Championship. It's been announced that John Cena will go one-on-one with Shawn Michaels tonight. Will he get the revenge he craves?
Kane's Out
After the gruelling beating he took from Jericho and Orton last night, Kane has been shelved until further notice. How long will he be out for? Will we find out anything on RAW?
Title Defences
World Tag Champions John Morrison & The Miz are set to defend their titles on RAW this week against three other tag teams in a Gauntlet tag team match. Also set to defend the title is Intercontinental Champion CM Punk, who will make his first defense against the man he beat to win the title, William Regal. Will we see any new champions tonight?
Confirmed Matches:
John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels
World Tag Team Championship Gauntlet Match
Intercontinental Champion CM Punk vs. William Regal

Monday Night RAW
Live from Detroit, Michigan
January 26th 2009
A video airs showing highlights of the 2009 Royal Rumble. This includes JBL stealing the World Championship from John Cena, Jeff Hardy defending the title after the ring collapsed, Tommy Dreamer attacking Swagger and causing him to beat Matt Hardy via disqualification, Beth Phoenix defending her Women’s title against Melina and the Royal Rumble Match. Highlights of the Rumble match include Jericho and Orton’s beat down on Kane and Matt eliminating Orton to win the 2009 Royal Rumble. A video then airs showing the closing moments of last week’s RAW, where Mr McMahon returned only to be assaulted by Randy Orton and sent off in a stretcher.
“To Be Loved” then plays and the opening video for RAW airs. After the video, the camera goes to the stage, where pyro explodes around the titantron. The camera then pans the crowd with signs such as ‘Matt’s going to WrestleMania’, ‘Kane’s a Deadman’ and ‘How is Vince still alive?’ being seen. The camera then switched to commentators Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler.
Michael Cole: Welcome to Monday Night RAW, ladies and gentlemen. A brutal attack on our Chairman last week has left a blow in the atmosphere but we will have news tonight. Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon are said to be coming out here to make an official statement concerning the incident.
Jerry Lawler: It certainly is a sad moment, but the show must go on. And it certainly did last night. We had a new World Champion in JBL and Matt Hardy won the 2009 Royal Rumble.
“Here Comes The Money” blasts through the arena and Shane McMahon, closely followed by Stephanie McMahon make their way out to the ring. Both are wearing suits and do not look happy. They both enter the ring (Shane holding open the ropes for his sister) and the crowd quietens down, keen to hear what’s going on.
Shane McMahon: Last week, after being injured for six months, my father was brutally assaulted and sent back to the hospital he had thought he’d seen the last of. He was slapped in the face, kicked in the face and punt kicked into the temple, leaving him with a concussion and he is now in hospital recovering. In light of recent events, Stephanie and I have come to a decision that will change the course of this company forever.
*Mixed Reaction*
Stephanie McMahon: We have decided that our father and the chairman of the WWE is unable to continue his position. He is in a very weak condition at the hospital and he’s just taken too much for a man of his age. On behalf of our father, we are announcing his retirement as Chairman of the WWE.
*Huge Reaction, Mixture of Shock and Disbelief*
Cole: Did you hear that, King? Mr McMahon has retired from the Chairman spot!
King: I know! What an announcement! This is going to change everything!
Shane McMahon: Please, please, settle down... in light of his retirement, my father has left Stephanie and I as the new chairpersons of the WWE.
*Massive Pop*
King: Shane and Stephanie McMahon are the new Chairpersons on the WWE!
Cole: Wow! What an amazing, historic moment this is, ladies and gentlemen!
Shane McMahon: ...and our first order of business, as the owners of World Wrestling Entertainment, is to call out the man that caused the injury of the former Chairman. Randy Orton, get out here... NOW!
A few seconds of silence and then, “Voices” blasts through the arena. The crowd erupts in boos as Randy Orton steps out on to the stage, an unreadable expression on his face. He walks down to the ring, also dressed in a suit, and enters the ring cautiously. Stephanie and Shane McMahon stand opposite him and his music dies, leaving them staring in silence, a tension you could cut with a knife.
Shane McMahon: Randy Orton... where do I begin?
Randy Orton: How about a “Thank you, Randy.”
Shane McMahon: ...Excuse me?
Randy Orton takes a step closer to Shane, putting his mic to his lips and saying, slowly and steadily.
Randy Orton: I want a thank you. If it wasn’t for me taking out your Dad last week, you wouldn’t even have the power you do now. You two are the owners of this company – because of me.
Stephanie McMahon: You son of a bitch! You could have killed my fat—
Shane McMahon: I’ll handle this, Steph.
Stephanie McMahon fell silent and Shane McMahon took a step closer to Orton too, so that they were nose to nose.
Shane McMahon: Whatever you think about us being owners, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is now that I am a co-owner, I have to find ways of punishing you for your sins.
Randy Orton: So go ahead and fire me. See what I care. I am the greatest wrestler alive today. I am the Legend Killer! I can go to a rival company, if you let me go. Give them the glory you have been honoured to receive for the last seven years!
Shane McMahon: I’m not going to fire you. That would be too easy. The way I see it, you still have one year left on your contract. I am going to use that whole year to make your career hell. I think I’ll start by saying right now, you will NOT receive a title shot of ANY kind during your stay here. You won’t be allowed into tournaments, you won’t be able to qualify for Money In The Bank, you won’t be able to do anything that gives you the chance to do something good for your career. Tonight, you will go up against The Undertaker in a No Holds Barred Match...
*Massive Pop*
Shane McMahon: Well, No Holds Barred for him anyways. And if you lose, then you lose your wages for this week. Now get the hell out of my ring before I drag you out!
Randy Orton, fuming from this news but unable to do anything, storms out of the ring. He stormed straight to the back to get ready, and Shane McMahon watched him go before turning to the crowd and continuing.
Shane McMahon: As one of the new Chairpersons of the WWE, I am also here to announce that on the 6th April, 2009 – the day after WrestleMania 25, we will hold the 2009 Draft right here on a special 3-hour RAW. Thank you, and enjoy the show.
Shane and Stephanie left the ring, and we cut to our first break of the evening. (9:00)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Cole: Welcome back to what truly is a historic night in this company. Vince McMahon has retired. He is no longer the chairman of the WWE! Replacing him as owners are Shane and Stephanie McMahon!
King: That’s not all! The day after WrestleMania 25 we will hold the 2009 Draft!
Cole: But let’s look at tonight! Randy Orton will be going one on one with The Undertaker. Undertaker will have No Holds Barred Rules but Randy Orton will not. If Orton loses, he also loses his wages for the week!
King: Also tonight, John Cena goes against the man who cost him his World Championship, Shawn Michaels!
Cole: Also tonight the Tag and Intercontinental Championships are on the line! (1:00)

Match One: World Tag Team Championships
Tag Team Gauntlet Match
John Morrison & The Miz (c) vs. Cryme Tyme vs. Sim Snuka & Manu vs. Team Priceless
Summary: The Tag Champions John Morrison and The Miz were the first in the ring with Sim Snuka and Manu. They fought quite evenly for a while but The Miz rolled up Snuka to eliminate them after five minutes. Cryme Tyme came into the ring next. Shad dominated John Morrison and The Miz and set Miz up for the G9. JTG came in to complete the move but was taken out by Morrison. This distraction gave Miz the chance to reverse the G9 into a DDT. He pinned Shad for the win. The final team out were Team Priceless. The two teams fought quite evenly too, and Morrison hit a dropkick on DiBiase and knocked Rhodes off the apron. He looked to have the win as he set up DiBiase for the Moonlight Drive, when Sim Snuka and Manu ran down to the ring. While the referee dealt with them, DiBiase low blowed Morrison and rolled him up. The referee turned and made the pinfall.
Winners and NEW World Tag Team Champions: Team Priceless @ 17:00
After the match, DiBiase and Rhodes are given the Tag Titles and held them in the ring. Snuka and Manu come into the ring themselves, Manu with a microphone. Miz and Morrison are still down.
Manu: Ted, Cody... we know that you two, like us, have potential to be great in this company. Alright, you two are tag champions now, and I don’t think you teaming with Orton anymore is going to do you any favours.
*Pop*
Manu: The way I see it, Orton has used the members of Legacy like he wants to. He’s kicked us out, added you back in, and it’s all because of his needs. Well now he’s the most hated man in the company and he can’t give us the success we need. So we propose that we reform Legacy together and the four of us kick ORTON out of the faction.
*Pop*
Manu: What do you say?
Manu reaches out a hand to Team Priceless. They look at each other, then at the Tag Titles, and finally decide to shake hands with Manu and then Sim Snuka. The four of them raise their arms in success.
Cole: Well, The Legacy is back into full swing, King!
King: But Orton’s been kicked out! And we have new Tag Champions!
Cole: Certainly a shocking development that only adds more to what has been an incredibly shocking night! Don’t go away folks, after the break, the Intercontinental Title is on the line! (3:00)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Quote:
Match Two: Intercontinental Championship
CM Punk (c) vs. William Regal
Summary: Regal started on the offence with stomps and chops, and wore down Regal with several submissions that lasted a long time. After a third STF, Punk started to fight back, hitting a few punches and chops and kicks, before knocking down Regal with a clothesline. Punk then went on the offence, hitting suplexes, body slams and one Superplex, but none of it took out Regal. Regal started to fight back with some suplexes of his own. After a belly-to-belly suplex, Regal locked in the Regal Stretch on Punk. Punk looked close to tapping out but managed to reach the ropes. Regal Irish whipped Punk for a clothesline, but Punk ducked, and hit a DDT reversal. Punk then locked in the Anaconda Vice! Regal attempted to reach the ropes, but couldn’t do so and tapped out.
Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion: CM Punk @ 10:00
Cole: What a great title defence from the Intercontinental Champion CM Punk! He made Regal tap out and really was the better man in this terrific matchup!
The camera cuts backstage, where John Cena is standing with Todd Grisham. John Cena looks serious and Todd Grisham has his usual anxious look on his face.
Todd Grisham: Ladies and gentlemen, I am here live with John Cena. John, last night, you lost the World Championship to JBL, and tonight you go against the man who cost you the title, Shawn Michaels. What are your thoughts?
John Cena: Y’know Todd, I’d love your job... it seems easy to ask someone’s thoughts every week, doesn’t it? Well, let me tell you what I’m thinking. I’m thinking JBL didn’t beat me fair and square last night. I’m thinking I was screwed out of my title reign and I’m thinking the man who caused it, Shawn Michaels, is going to pay for it tonight.
John Cena walked off leaving Todd Grisham to stand there contemplating what was said, as always. The camera cuts back to the ring, where the next match is ready to begin. (2:00)
Quote:
Match Three: No Holds Barred Match (for Undertaker)
Randy Orton vs. Undertaker
Summary: Orton avoided Undertaker’s fists at first, throwing a few of his own and trying to stay a fair distance away. Orton attempted an early RKO but Undertaker reversed into a powerslam. Undertaker then delivered several Irish whips, sending Orton to every corner and hitting him with a clothesline on each one. Undertaker took out Orton with a Big Boot and then went to the outside, picking up some steel chairs and throwing them into the ring. Undertaker picked up one of the steel chairs and when Orton got to his feet, cracked him straight in the skull, breaking the steel chair. Orton was busted open instantly and Undertaker continued to assault, hitting a body slam onto another steel chair. Undertaker picked up Orton and set him up for the Chokeslam, but Orton raked the eyes and clotheslined Undertaker to the ground. Undertaker sat up almost immediately, but Orton was ready and hit the Punt kick to his head. Orton collapsed onto Undertaker to get a three count.
Winner: Randy Orton @ 14:00
Cole: Wow! Orton pulled out that win from somewhere deep! He’s been busted open but he fought hard and just pinned The Undertaker!
King: That is shocking! But he raked the eyes which gave him a perfect opportunity for the Punt kick. A few seconds later and it could have been all over.
Cole: Well, Orton gets paid this week but the McMahon’s won’t be happy with that result! Don’t go anywhere folks, we still have our Main Event of Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena and plenty more to come!
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Quote:
Match Four: Singles Match
Kawal vs. Santino Marella
Summary: Making his WWE and RAW debut, Low Ki (under his new ring name Kawal) looked good from the get go. Santino used his usual tactics to try and get some moves in but it was overall a squash match that lasted a little over four minutes and Kawal won impressively with the Warrior’s Way from the top rope.
Winner: Kawal @ 5:00
Cole: A very impressive debut from the man we know as Kawal. He has a history of Martial Arts and it looks like he can bring a lot to RAW!
King: He sure does! The move he used to win, the Warrior’s Way, that was brutal too!
The camera cuts backstage where Stephanie McMahon is in her office. There’s a knock on the door and she greets them to come in. She looks up in disgust and the camera scans over to see Chris Jericho standing there.
Stephanie McMahon: What the hell do you want, Jericho?
Chris Jericho: Relax; I’m not here to cause trouble. I’m just here as a superstar with a request.
Stephanie McMahon: Don’t act like you are on my side. I saw you in the Rumble last night; you and Orton helped each other til the end – oh wait, that was until he eliminated you anyway.
Chris Jericho: Well, in the Rumble, you have to do what you have to do. I used Orton to get further myself that’s all. But that’s what I came here to talk about. Matt Hardy won the Royal Rumble and he’s over on SmackDown! so if he doesn’t challenge JBL to a title shot, that leaves him without a challenger and –
Stephanie McMahon: - And you thought you could fill that spot?
Chris Jericho: I KNOW I can fill that spot. But I would gladly win a match to earn the title shot, if you’re not so certain.
Stephanie remained silent. The two stared at each other for a long time, until Stephanie finally walked over to the door and opened it.
Stephanie McMahon: I’ll think about it.
Chris Jericho: You won’t regret it.
Jericho leaves the room looking happy. (3:00)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*

Main Event: Singles Match
John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels w/ John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield
Summary: Before the match began, JBL was giving HBK some advice but HBK shook him off, telling him he didn’t need his help to take care of Cena. Cena came out furious, brawling with HBK for several minutes. Cena hit the powerslam followed by the five knuckle shuffle quite early on, but didn’t progress as HBK fought back. HBK hit the Atomic Drop on Cena at around the eight minute mark, and set him up for Sweet Chin Music. JBL climbed onto the ropes, egging on HBK. Michaels went for the kick, but Cena ducked and HBK kicked JBL straight in the face, sending him off the ropes. HBK turned around into an FU, which Cena hit perfectly. 1...2...BUT HBK KICKED OUT! Shocked and surprised, Cena set up HBK for a second FU, but HBK landed on his feet and hit the Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere, getting the three count on Cena!
Winner: Shawn Michaels @ 15:00
After the match, Shawn Michaels waited for John Cena to get to his feet again, before giving him another Sweet Chin Music! JBL finally recovered from the Sweet Chin Music he took and grabbed a mic, rolling into the ring and standing opposite HBK.
JBL: What the hell are you doing, kicking me in the jaw? Do you realise who I am? I am the WORLD CHAMPION! I don’t need you anymore! Your contract is terminated!
*Mixed Reaction*
Shawn Michaels: Yes it is, because I quit!
BAM! Shawn Michaels hit JBL with a Sweet Chin Music, and he fell to the mat. Shawn Michaels kneeled down to JBL.
Shawn Michaels: I don’t need you anymore. I don’t need Cena’s approval either. I’m my own man! I’ll do whatever the hell I want, Chump. Because as of today, I have just signed a new contract with the WWE and a very significant pay rise. Enjoy your title reign while it lasts, Bradshaw.
Michaels stood up and walked out of the ring, leaving a mixed reaction from the crowd, not being able to decide whether to cheer or boo him. The camera showed JBL and Cena both laid out in the ring to end the show. (4:00)
END SHOW.

from wwe.com:
World Wrestling Entertainment is pleased to announce the signings of Christian, Kawal, Rob Van Dam and Mark Jindrak.
WWE looks to be planning some roster additions. Apart from the confirmed signings of Christian, Low Ki (Kawal), RVD and Mark Jindrak, they have also called up Tyson Tomko from FCW and look to be in talks with Stevie Richards amongst others. More on this as we get it.
Rumours are flying that the Elimination Chamber is set to return for No Way Out. If the rumours are true, for which brand the Chamber will be used is not known.
It is expected Stephanie McMahon will announce some sort of tournament to find a new number one contender for the World Championship.

Tuesday Night ECW
Live from Detroit, Michigan
January 27th 2009
A video aired showing the highlight of the Royal Rumble PPV. The highlights focused on the happenings of the ECW Championship Match, where Tommy Dreamer attacked Swagger giving him the Disqualification victory. A second video then airs to “Don’t question my heart” that being the ECW opening video. The screen comes into focus of the arena, pyro go off and the camera scans the fans (holding such signs as, ‘Save_ECW.TMY’, ‘All-American American’ and ‘EEE CEE DUB’) and then the fans go nuts as “One of a Kind” blasts through the arena and Rob Van Dam makes his way into the ring.
Tony Chimel: Please welcome a former ECW Champion, and an ECW Original, Rob Van Dam!
Matt Striker: Welcome to ECW, Ladies and gentlemen, and what a way to start this evening with the return of Rob Van Dam!
Todd Grisham: It certainly is a pleasant surprise and I know the fans can’t wait to see what RVD has to say!
Rob Van Dam rolled into the ring, taking the mic off Chimel and after taunting a few times, got down off the turnbuckle and waited for the crowd to quieten so he could speak. Eventually, the noise level lowered enough and he spoke.
Rob Van Dam: Wow, it feels good to be back in EEE CEE DUB!
*Big Pop*
Rob Van Dam: Except... This place isn’t really ECW anymore, is it?
*Mixed Reaction*
Rob Van Dam: I mean, we still have the awesome fans!
*Pop*
Rob Van Dam: We still have a World Title.
*Pop*
Rob Van Dam: We even still have a good roster, albeit this one is much smaller.
*Pop*
Rob Van Dam: But there’s something missing... oh yeah, that’s it. Where the hell has all the Extreme gone from ECW?
*Mixed Reaction*
Rob Van Dam: I mean, I was backstage at the Rumble last night, and I was watching the ECW title bout and my old friend Tommy Dreamer decided to pay Swagger a little visit – and the match ended in disqualification?
*Heat*
Rob Van Dam: Maybe I’ve been smoking a little too much, but that is messed up!
*Huge Pop*
Rob Van Dam: So that’s why I’ve come back. I want to put the ‘Extreme’ back in ECW. And I know Teddy Long is a decent guy, so c’mon Teddy, come and show me some love.
“Macmillitant’ hits the speakers and out comes Teddy Long, being accompanied to the ring by Tiffany. Teddy and Tiffany entered the ring and Teddy Long grabbed a microphone of his own.
Teddy Long: Alright, playa, you wanted me here – what do you want to say?
Rob Van Dam: Well, I made my name in Extreme Championship Wrestling. No disrespect Teddy man, but this is not Extreme Championship Wrestling – changes need to be made.
*Pop*
Teddy Long: A’ight, I’m listening.
Rob Van Dam: Well first of all, Extreme Championship Wrestling matches do not end in disqualification.
*Pop*
Rob Van Dam: There are two championships that joined the ECW title and they are the ECW Tag Titles and the ECW TV title.
Teddy Long: Rob, ECW is an hour-long show, we just don’t have the time or a big enough roster for another two titles, playa.
*Heat*
Rob Van Dam: Well make the show longer, man!
Teddy Long: The roster is too small, playa. I love your enthusiasm but we just aren’t big enough for that kind of change.
Rob Van Dam: You don’t need to worry about that, I have some guys in the back who support my claims and want to change ECW for the better. Some of them are ECW Originals, some of them are new guys who know it’s the right thing – come on out, guys.
“Bodies” blasts through the arena and the crowd go nuts in anticipation. Then ten wrestlers came out onto the stage. Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Christian Cage, Tyson Tomko, Blue Meanie, Holly wood Nova, Stevie Richards, Rhyno, The Sandman and Kafu all came onto the stage, all wearing ‘ECW’ shirts and the crowd going absolutely crazy.
Rob Van Dam: These men know that ECW deserves to be changed! They’ve all agreed to sign contracts with this show if changes are made.
Teddy Long looked taken aback; He was stunned that ten guys, eleven if counting Van Dam had come out, and after a few seconds, puts his mic to his mouth to speak when they were interrupted by “The All-American American” blasting through the arena. The crowd of wrestlers at the top of the stage split and ECW Champion Jack Swagger came out and walked down the ramp, ignoring them to tons of boos from the crowd.
Swagger rolled into the ring and grabbed a mic of his own. His music cut out and he looked over to RVD, shaking his head, before turning to Teddy Long.
Jack Swagger: Teddy Long, listen up and listen good. ECW is where I’ve made an impact. I am undefeated here and the rules and how we work are just fine. The old ECW is dead. These has-beens and the idiots following them need to realise that. I know there are plenty backstage who agree with my views.
Teddy Long: You know what, I’m giving this some thought – and you both bring up some good points.
*Mixed Reaction*
Teddy Long: So this is what I will do. Tonight, we will have three matches. The first will be Ricky Ortiz versus Christian Cage. If Christian wins, we’ll make the disqualification rule defunct here at ECW.
*Pop*
Teddy Long: The second match will be John Morrison & The Miz will go against Hollywood Nova and Stevie Richards. If Nova and Richards win, I will sign all of the wrestlers up on the stage and make this show a two hour show.
*Huge Pop*
Teddy Long: The third match will be a 6-man tag. On one side will be ECW Champion Jack Swagger, DJ Gabriel and Mark Henry and they will go against Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Tommy Dreamer! If RVD’s team win, then I will reinstate the ECW Tag and TV Titles.
*Massive Pop*
Teddy Long: However, for every match that are not won by a friend of RVD’s will make the change attached to the match null and void. After the night is over, no matter how ECW is changed, that’s the way it will be kept. So if ECW is kept the same, I don’t want any complaints from you Rob, or any of your friends. And if ECW is changed, I don’t want any complaints of you Swagger, or any of your friends. That’s the end of it. Good luck everyone, and enjoy the show. Holla!
“Macmillitant” hits the speakers and Teddy Long and Tiffany leave the ring, leaving both Swagger, RVD and the wrestlers on the stage happy with the news. (12:00)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Matt Striker: Welcome back to ECW! And tonight, it could be changed forever!
Todd Grisham: It sure can! Three matches will take place tonight. In every match, a proposed change to ECW will be on the line! If the pro-change opponents win, the changes will be made; if the opponents against the changes win the proposed change will not be made.
Quote:
Match One: ECW Change Proposal Match
If Christian wins, disqualifications will be defunct from ECW.
Ricky Ortiz vs. Christian Cage
Summary: Ricky Ortiz’s size gave him the advantage at first, but the veteran of the two reversed into a neckbreaker. The two continued back and forth battling, neither of them looking to give up. Christian gained an advantage with a dropkick followed by a German suplex. Ortiz kicked out before a two count and started to take advantage with his strength and power. He hit several slams. Ortiz locked Christian into a Full Nelson submission. Christian finally fought out of it, and reversed an attempt at a suplex into a DDT. Christian then hit the Frog Splash from the top rope for the pinfall.
Winner: Christian @ 8:00
Matt Striker: Say goodbye to disqualifications, because they are no longer part of ECW!
Todd Grisham: ECW really is looking to change tonight! If pro-change wrestlers win all three matches, we’ll have a complete different show next week!
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Quote:
Match Two: ECW Change Proposal Match
If the bWo win, the ECW show will be extended to two hours long
John Morrison & The Miz vs. The bWo (Stevie Richards & Hollywood Nova)

He then tagged in Miz who rinsed and repeated. Miz picked up Nova and Irish whipped him. Miz dropkicked but Nova held on to the ropes. Nova knocked down Miz with a clothesline before tagging in Richards. Richards superkicked Morrison, who ran into the ring and tried to attack him, and Miz got to his feet. Miz kicked Richards in the gut, and set him up for a DDT but Richards reversed into a Northern Lights Suplex for the three count.
Winners: blue World order @ 7:00
Matt Striker: And just like that, ECW will now be a 2-hour show! I suppose Teddy Long better get into talks with Sci Fi Channel about this!

Great 1st RAW and ECW. Like where your going with the Orton storyline and putting an edge on the Cena/JBL fued. Hardy winning the Rumble I think is great and very interesting. ECW was great. Like that we have NO DQ, 2 hr shows, and TV and Tag titles. Cant wait for SD and the next shows. Keep up the work. Will do full review on SD.

Friday Night SmackDown!
From Detroit, Michigan
January 30th, 2009
A video aired showing highlights of the Royal Rumble. Highlights included Jeff Hardy defending the title against Edge even after the ring collapsed and Matt Hardy eliminating Randy Orton to become the 2009 Royal Rumble Winner. “Without a Fight” by Hoobastank, the new SmackDown! theme, hit followed by the SmackDown! opening video. Then the arena comes into view and the pyro goes off, to then show the crowd with signs such as “The Hardy Boyz to Main Event WM25”, “Get better ring support” and “Most Valuable Playa!”.
“Metallingus” then hits the speakers and the crowd erupt in a chorus of boos. Edge comes out to the stage and then down the ramp, sliding into the ring with a mic. Edge waited for the crowd to stop their booing before talking.
Edge: Jeff Hardy is a walking target! At the Royal Rumble, the damn ring collapsed. He’s also run over, attacked by pyrotechnics and thrown down the stairs. And whoever caused the mishap with the ring yesterday also cost me my title shot, so now they’re on my list of people I have a problem with!
Edge ran his hand through his hair, furious.
Edge: I’m sick of it! I’m sick of always been screwed out of what I deserve! So I don’t care who it is! I don’t care if it’s Undertaker! I don’t care if it’s Funaki! Whoever the hell is causing all this mess needs to get out here now, because we have a problem than needs to be dealt with!
Nothing. No-one came out and no music played.
Edge: Damn it! Don’t think I won’t find out who’s been doing this! Because I will! And when I do, you’ll be sorry you ever –
“No More Words” blasts through the speakers and the crowd erupts in cheers as Jeff Hardy comes out to the stage. His pyro shoots out, normal this time, and he taunts on the stage, before getting down to the ring and taking a mic from the timekeeper.
Jeff Hardy: Edge... give up the act. We all know it’s YOU who’s been causing all my troubles.
Edge: Me? ME! Why the hell would I screw myself out of my own match?! You want culprits? What about your brother Matt, huh?
Jeff Hardy: Matt? Are you crazy? Matt’s my own flesh and blood and I trust him with everything.
Edge: Wouldn’t be the first time you’ve argued with eachother, would it? And he’s jealous because you have the WWE title and he doesn’t. So he broke the ring, and got lucky enough to win the Rumble.
“Live For the Moment” blasts through the arena speakers and the crowd pops again as Matt Hardy makes his way to the ring. He grabs a mic of his own.
Matt Hardy: Hold on a second, I had nothing to do with my brother’s attacks! But if you want to go throwing around accusations, Edge, then YOU and I have problems!
Edge: Of course you’ll deny it, but you know that Jeff has everything that you CRAVE. What championship are you going for at WrestleMania? Jeff’s, I bet. It would make perfect sense since all of your attempts to take him out have failed.
Matt Hardy: Edge, just because your brother sees you for the jackass you are, it doesn’t mean all brothers are like that. Jeff and I get on well enough and trust eachother to know I had nothing to do with the attacks.
Edge: Aww, well isn’t that touching! Well I say it’s bull shit! I know for a fact you attacked Jeff and stopped me from winning the title by collapsing that ring. And when I get proof of that fact, you’ll be out of this job faster than you can say, “I didn’t do it!”
Edge drops his mic and goes nose to nose with Matt Hardy. Edge looking like he was going to hit Matt until Jeff also met Edge nose to nose and Edge decided against it. Edge pushed passed them both and left the ring. Jeff turned to leave but Matt called him back.
Matt: Woah, Jeff. I wanted to talk to you. See, I’ve decided I’m going to cash in my WrestleMania Main Event against you brother. So what do you say? Wanna blow the roof off WrestleMania?
Matt extends a hand but Jeff didn’t take it, he instead hugged his brother. Jeff raised Matt’s arm and the crowd popped like crazy as we go to our first break. (8:00)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Jim Ross: Well, Welcome back ladies and gentlemen to Friday Night SmackDown! Before the break, Edge came down to the ring and accused the 2009 Royal Rumble Winner Matt Hardy of assaulting his own brother!
Tazz: Man, that’s a ridiculous allegation. But what we did learn was that Matt Hardy has decided to challenge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, so if the champion is Jeff Hardy come WrestleMania, it’s Hardy v. Hardy baby!
Jim Ross: It sure is, but for now let’s discuss tonight! Just announced from Vickie Guerrero, tonight’s main event will be Matt and Jeff Hardy teaming up to take on Edge & Chavo Guerrero.
Tazz: Also tonight, Shelton Benjamin will defend his United States Championship against three opponents in a Fatal-4-Way. Those opponents are MVP, Hurricane Helms and The Brian Kendrick!
Jim Ross: And finally, Divas Champion Maryse will face off against Maria in a non-title match! All this to come tonight! (2:00)
Quote:
Match One: Non-Title Match
Maryse vs. Maria
Summary: This match was basically a squash match for a long time. Maria attempted to fight back but was heavily dominated by Maryse. Eventually though, Michelle McCool caused a distraction, that allowed Maria to roll up and pin Maryse.
Winner: Maria @ 6:00
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Quote:
Match Two: Singles Match
Umaga vs. Festus w/Jesse
Summary: When the bell rung, Festus went crazy and started the assault on Umaga. Umaga stayed strong too as both monsters battled eachother. Umaga took advantage with some headbutts and Irish whipped Festus into the corner. When attempting a clothesline, Umaga missed as Festus moved and caused some trouble of his own with a Body Slam on Umaga. Festus began to dominate a little until Umaga reversed a Big Boot and set up Festus for a body slam of his own. Umaga followed this up with a splash. Festus got up, only to be hit with Umaga’s Samoan Spike! 1...2...3!
Winner: Umaga @ 7:00
Jim Ross: Umaga finally makes a return to our screens and he won a very impressive match against Festus!
Tazz: Two beasts clashed in that ring and Umaga was the survivor!
We cut backstage where Hawkings & Ryder knocked Vickie Guerrero’s office. They opened the door and entered. Vickie was sitting at her desk doing paperwork. She didn’t look up when she spoke.
Vickie Guerrero: What do you want?
Hawkings: Well, Vickie, we were... kinda wondering if you could make us the next challengers for the Tag Team Titles.
Vickie Guerrero: Sure.
Ryder: Sure? Just like that?
Vickie Guerrero: Yeah! You can have one of the qualifying matches this week.
Hawkings: Qualifiying matches?
Vickie Guerrero: For the Tag Team Turmoil Match at No Way Out for the titles. 4 teams will qualify to fight the champions. You two get a qualifying match tonight.
Ryder: Turmoil match?
Vickie Guerrero: Yes. Unless you have a problem with that, if so I can give the Qualifying match to another team –
Hawkings: No! No... a qualifying match sounds great! Thanks, Vickie.
Hawkings and Ryder, obviously not happy, but with no choice, left the office with a qualifying match tonight. (3:00)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*

Match Three: United States Championship
Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Montel Vontavious Porter vs. The Brian Kendrick vs. Hurricane Helms
Summary: The four men started brawling with anyone to start, but soon it formed that Benjamin and Helms were fighting and MVP and Kendrick were fighting. Helms hit an Enziguri on Benjamin early but got a 2 count when MVP broke it up. Kendrick hit several dropkicks to try and take out MVP but it was MVP who got the next near fall after reversing one of Kendrick’s dropkicks and then hitting the Player’s Boot. Helms broke up the count. The finish came when Kendrick and Helms’ brawl sent them both flying over the top rope. Benjamin hit the Dragon whip on MVP. MVP recovered and reversed a set up for the T-Bone, into a T-Bone attempt himself. This was too reversed by Benjamin, who then succeeded at a second attempt to hit the T-Bone Suplex and secured the pinfall on MVP to remain champion.
Winner and STILL United States Champion: Shelton Benjamin @ 10:00
Jim Ross: Benjamin just proved why he is champion. A very impressive defence.
Tazz: It certainly was a good match and Benjamin is still our champion.
Jim Ross: Well, don’t go anywhere folks! Our main event tonight is the 2009 Royal Rumble Winner Matt Hardy and the WWE Champion Jeff Hardy teaming up together as The Hardy Boyz to take on the team of Edge and Chavo Guerrero!
Tazz: But next up tonight – Los Colon vs. Jimmy Wang Yang & Kung Fu Naki! (0:30)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Quote:
Match Four: Non-title match
Los Colon vs. Jimmy Wang Yang & Kung Fu Naki
Summary: The match began with Carlito and Jimmy Wang Yang squaring off in the ring. Yang was the faster of the two and kept Carlito chasing after him, using top rope moves to keep one half of the tag champions down. Yang executed a Hurracarana on Carlito and tagged in Naki. Naki kept the offence going that Yang had started but a mistimed clothesline gave Carlito the opportunity to take out Naki with a DDT and tag in his brother Primo Colon. Primo and Naki fought in a fast-paced cruiserweight-like fight for a couple of minutes. An impressive Sunset Flip reversal gave Naki a near fall. Naki tagged in Yang once more and he and Primo squared off in the ring for the first time in the match. Yang knocked down Primo with an Enziguri kick and then a Springboard Splash gave him a near fall. The finish came when Primo rolled up Yang in a schoolboy and got the three.
Winners: Los Colon @ 8:00
The camera cuts to backstage and we are once again in Vickie Guerrero’s office. There’s a knock on the door and Vickie calls for them to come in and the camera shows Hurricane Helms enter the office.
Vickie Guerrero: Hurricane Helms.
Hurricane Helms: Vickie Guerrero.
Vickie Guerrero: What can I do for you?
Hurricane Helms: Well, I’m sure you watched the fatal 4 way earlier tonight.
Vickie Guerrero: I did.
Hurricane Helms: Right, so you saw that I didn’t get pinned and I was just wondering if you could give me another shot at Shelton Benjamin for the title – I know I can beat him if you just give me the chance.
Suddenly, someone else enters the office. MVP walks in, looks at Hurricane, then at Vicky.
MVP: Oh, you have got to be kidding me. You don’t deserve another title shot, Helms. Now, I do. I almost won the match earlier –
Hurricane Helms: Right before you got pinned 1..2..3, right? I’m just sayin’
MVP: You think your funny Helms?
Hurricane Helms: Actually, I have been told that –
Vickie Guerrero: Enough, enough. I can tell both of you want this match for the title real bad, so how about this, at No Way Out, you can have a Number One Contenders match. The winner will get a United States Title shot.
Hurricane Helms: That’s great, Vickie. Thanks – Oh, and MVP, good luck. You’re going to need it.
Hurricane Helms took one last look at the two and left the office. (4:30)
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*

Match Five: Tag Team Turmoil Qualifying Match
Curt Hawkings & Zack Ryder vs. DH Smith & Joe Hennig
Summary: Hennig was called up for this one match. It would be a perfect opportunity for him to get signed but Hawkings and Ryder dominated the matchup. They wore down DH Smith alot, constantly teaming on him in the corner. When Hennig did get into the ring, he cleared house and got some offence in on Ryder. Hennig even got as far as hitting the Perfect Plex on Ryder, but didn’t manage to get the pinfall as Hawkings broke the pin. From there, it went downhill. Smith managed to get a tag in but he was too dominated and at the twelve minute mark, Hawkings hit the Spinning Hangman Facebuster for the win.
Winners: Curt Hawkings & Zack Ryder @ 12:00
*COMMERCIAL BREAK*
Quote:
Main Event: Tag Team Match
The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Chavo Guerrero
Summary: It was Chavo Guerrero and Matt Hardy who started the action. Both men used submissions to wear each other down at first, but then started using more moves than submissions. Chavo made good use of the dropkick and the Hurracarana. Chavo and Edge then started to cheat, using the referee’s distractions to attack Matt with a rake to the eyes, a few stomps or some other illegal move. Eventually, Matt outsmarted them and tagged in Jeff. Jeff cleared house and then began to fight on Edge. Jeff hit the Hurracarana on Edge and climbed the ropes for the Swantom Bomb, but Chavo stopped this by throwing him off the turnbuckle. Edge then took advantage of this, taking out Matt in the corner and setting up Edge for a spear. Edge hit the Spear successfully but didn’t get the count because Matt ran in and broke the pinfall. Chavo then ran it and distracted Matt with several punches. Matt took out Chavo with a Twist of Fate but he left his brother wide open, who endured another spear and was pinned by the time Matt had gotten rid of Chavo.
Winners: Edge and Chavo Guerrero @ 22:00
Jim Ross: And just like that, Edge and Chavo Guerrero take a victory over the WWE Champion and the 2009 Royal Rumble Winner. And if anyone looks strong enough to take on Jeff at No Way Out – it’s gotta be Edge, no matter how he managed to pin him! We’ll see you next week folks!
