Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB

ECW (February 10th)
ECW went underway with a backstage promo. With Teddy Long in his office, Dreamer belittled him for being a coward and a weakling, placing emphasis on his DQ loss last week. As punishment, and as a way to put this behind them once and for all, Long and Dreamer would face off tonight, and so Long didn't DQ himself yet again, if were to lose, Long would be fired.
The first match of the night pitted Dreamer's new favorite, Kaval, against Mike Knox in a Hardcore Title Shot Qualifier. The match went back and forth at first, but Kaval's spells of dominance were more impressive, with the crowd chanting for him to hit some of his trademark stiff kicks. In what was ultimately a glorified squash, Kaval showed off his more wrestling-based moves and in the end he hit his old finisher the Ki Krusher and followed it up with the Warrior's Way for the win.
Backstage again, Tommy Dreamer was warming up for his match later when DJ Gabriel and Alicia Fox danced their way down the hallway. Dreamer had to yell to grab their attention, causing DJ to be apprehensive, especially as it was his dancing that catalysed Dreamer's outburst two months ago, which in turn led to his conflict with Long. But Dreamer instead congratulated him for showing that he had some extreme in him last week, and that he was more than a fruity dancer. Not knowing what Dreamer was on about, he was nonetheless ecstatic when Dreamer said that he was giving him a chance tonight. If he won his match, he'd join two others in next week's Triple Threat for the Hardcore Title.
Paul Burchill, with Katie Lea by his side, made his way to ringside, followed up by The Miz, who came down with John Morrison, for the second qualifier of the night. The Miz, keen to change the his streak around, went all out in the early-going but soon burned himself out, and became erratic, constantly attempting his finisher, only for Burchill to repeatedly take him down, nailing a vicious lariat several times before The Miz learned his lesson, but it was too late. Burchill took him out with a Curbstomp and followed it up with the C-4, which elicited a noticeable pop from the crowd, thus adding Burchill to the title match next week.
After a short break, we return to see Morrison consoling his partner, only to come across Dreamer, who seems to be on his way to the ring himself. Dreamer tells the duo that he's disappointed. He gave The Miz two chances now to prove himself, and how does he repay him? By challenging any tag team for a match at No Way Out, without asking Dreamer for permission. But he wasn't mad, no, he understood that they wanted to prove themselves to be the best tag team in the business, which was why instead of facing one team, they'll be facing 5, and in the Elimination Chamber no less.
As the commentating team practically wet themselves with excitement regarding the World Tag Team Title Match that was announced, Teddy Long got to the ring, and was followed by Tommy Dreamer, whose pop was the biggest thus far by a fair margin. Long did his best to avoid Dreamer in this thankfully short match, but he ultimately failed, as Dreamer caught him and nailed him with a flurry of punches before putting him out of his misery and of his job with the Dreamer Driver.
After a NWO promo, we return to see a few floating hearts soar across the screen, fairy-dust trailing them. As they do so, the dust settles, forming the words: Love Doctor, as Colt Cabana walks into the black screen and spreads his arms, smiling.
Dancing to the ring with Alicia Fox, DJ Gabriel got ready for the final qualifier of the night, which would be against Chavo Guerrero. Chavo had a tough time keeping up with Gabriel at first, who grounded him with some arm-locks as well as with some high-impact moves, such as the Giant Swing and straight-jacket suplex. Chavo managed to get some offense in, but again fell to DJ's superior strength, as he was nearly pinned following a Gutbuster Drop. Chavo went to the outside in an attempt to regroup, but Gabriel went after him. DJ chased him around the ring, but stopped dead in his tracks when Chavo pushed Alicia out of the way, throwing her into the barricades. DJ stared at her for a moment before snapping, and charged at Chavo, turning Chavo inside out with a lariat and battering away at his head before nailing the Dancing Cradle Piledriver on the outside. Still huffing, DJ seemed to snap back to his former self, and realising that the ref was at the 9 count, got inside the ring, getting the count-out victory, although with no idea over how he did it.
Backstage, we see Ricky Ortiz talking to Tiffany again, who has her arms crossed and is visibly angry. She says that she still can't believe he actually thought he could wager her in a match, but he apologises and compliments her, saying he won't make the same mistake again. Tiffany just scoffs, saying that of course he won't be doing it again, even if he wins tonight, she still doesn't want to have anything to do with him. As she walks away, Ortiz asks whether she will at least be cheering him on at ringside, only for her to say that she will only watch to make sure Swagger doesn't kill him in the ring. Irate at the mention of his nemesis, Ortiz's face is flushed, and before he leaves for the ring, a heart-shaped arrow strikes the wall, missing his head by inches. He removes it and stares at it, as we go to commercials again.
As Ortiz waited in the ring, the steel cage surrounding it, Jack Swagger made his way there, and as soon as he entered the cage, Ortiz charged, leading to an opening brawl as the time-keeper quickly rang for the start of the match. For the first time in their entire feud, it looked like Ortiz might actually be triumphant, as he dominated the early going, hitting repeated shoulder blocks as well as a Diving Dropkick. However, he underestimated Swagger and quickly went for the Big O, only for the All-American American to quickly get to his feet and hit a scoop powerslam. Swagger had the rest of the match, propping Ortiz on his shoulders in a powerslam position and slamming Ortiz against the steel, as well as a variety of suplex maneuvers. He only quit these sadistic attacks when Tiffany, who ran to ringside, begged him to stop from the outside. Swagger looked at her for a moment before nailing the Gutwrench Bomb and quickly escaping the cage, with Ortiz bleeding from his forehead on the mat. Tiffany looked worried for a moment, but eventually left with Swagger, who wrapped his arm around her and grinned at the crowd with self-righteousness.
Backstage we have Joey Styles interviewing Kaval over his title match next week, not even a month after his debut. Kaval says that it wouldn't have changed things if he were there for years, a month, or a day, he was a soldier, and soldiers win battles. Every match is a battle won, and with every battle won, Kaval nears championship gold. He has already defeated 3 of ECW's men, and next week he would add 2 more to the figure. Styles seems to be a bit intimidated by Kaval's seriousness and is anxious to get this interview over and done with, and so he doesn't follow up with another questions and instead bids goodbye to Kaval.
In the Main Event, the two giants, Mark Henry and Vladimir Kozlov paired up to take on Matt Hardy and Evan Bourne. The match started between Bourne and Henry, and Evan quickly went airborne, nailing several of his high-flying maneuvers before tagging in Hardy, who continued to work on Henry. Bourne and Kozlov barely got any time to fight one another, with Kozlov inflicting most of the damage on Hardy instead when he did get tagged in. But when he tagged out, Hardy used the opportunity to bring Evan in, who hit a Diving Frankensteiner on Henry before hitting the Shooting Sydal Press for the win. Bourne couldn't celebrate though, as Kozlov tackled him as soon as the bell rang, but Bourne managed to fight him off with Hardy, forcing the ECW Champion to retreat, and allowing the former champ and the current challenger to stand tall in the ring as the show went off the air.

Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB

Smackdown Preview (February 13th)
Only a few days away from No Way Out, we're reaching boiling point here on Smackdown. Two weeks ago Vicky Guerrero attempted to punish Jeff Hardy, the WWE Champion for 'attacking' her when she had interfered in his match with Edge at the Royal Rumble by placing him in a match against 10 men. But the men's egos got in their way, and they didn't get along, and after a brawl erupted, the cavalry in the form of The Undertaker and AJ Styles came to the rescue. Last week Vicky tried to punish them instead, putting The Phenom's Elimination Chamber spot on the line against Edge and No. 1 Contender to Jeff's title, Big Show. But yet again, her men didn't cooperate and The Deadman got the win when Triple H attacked him, just as Show was about to pass out to the Hell's Gate. Tonight, Hardy, Styles and The Undertaker will face Big Show, Edge, and Triple H. Will Vicky get her men to cooperate, or will boiling point be reached?
As punishment for his part in the fiasco two weeks ago, AJ Styles will face Edge on Sunday, and should Vicky's husband win, he would be inserted in the WWE Title Match at Wrestlemania. Does AJ have it in him to keep the match to himself? Last Friday, Styles made his WWE in-ring debut by rising above U.S Champion Shelton Benjamin, in a match cooked up by Edge and Mr. Kennedy as a way to punish their rivals. Also tonight, Maryse will face Undisputed Women's Champion Natalya, with a title shot on the line, and the newly-formed team of R-Truth and Hurricane Helms has challenged WWE Tag Team Champions Zach Ryder and Curt Hawkins for the belts, will they get a second win over the champs?
This and more tonight, on Friday Night Smackdown!

Like ECW. You are really doing a good job reserecting Dreamer from a jobber to a real badass. This Kaval guy looks good. The tag main event was very good as well. Evan Bourne continues to impress, I hope he wins the ECW title at No Way Out. Should be a good ppv.
As for Smackdown the six man tag looks great cant wait for the show, I'll leave a real review for that one

Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB
ECW review
Dreamer as GM is pretty good. I take it he introduced the Hardcore title back. Teddy Long as a heel is actually good, and if you give him someone like a Mark Henry to manage, it'd be excellent.
Low Ki = epic. However, this match was just weird. While Knox doesn't deserve to be much more than a midcard jobber, I'd have expected him to get a lot more offense in. Maybe even dominate in periods. Time constraints I suppose, but it didn't do much for Kaval's character or over-ness. An underdog's comeback type thing would've been better imo.
DJ Gabriel seems like a guy to job in a qualifier tonight or to make up the numbers, and ultimately lose next week. We'll see.
Burchill getting a push is a good move, and winning here sets up an interesting match next week. You're obviously teasing a break-up for Miz and Morrison here, which is a good thing, for both of them. They've simply out-grown the tag division, and need to make the step up. I see them losing the tag titles at No Way Out.
A 6-team elimination chamber? How. The. Fuck? It's an interesting idea to say the least. Presumably two people are in each glass chamber. I'm intruiged, I'll admit, and it also brings some much-needed prestige and hype to the tag titles/division.
Teddy Long wrestling can't be good, but at least you kept it short.
Colt Cabana's gimmick is weird, interesting and slightly gay. Never seen any of his work outside of the Scotty Goldman persona, so I'm intruiged to see what you do with him.
I take it DJ Gabriel is going to assume the split-personality gimmick you mentioned in the discussion thread a few days ago. No complaints here. Having Chavo lose to get another wrestler's gimmick over is justified.
Meh. This Swagger/Ortiz/Tiffany angle just doesn't appeal to me. I really can't work out if Ortiz is a face or a heel. Verification needed there. A steel cage for this? Not a fan of it if I'm honest. Tiffany's turn - if it indeed was that - was predictable, and I just didn't like this much. The cage was de-valued. Having it on ECW is fine, but for Ortiz and Swagger, it just didn't work. I'm supposed to feel sorry for Ortiz now, even though he was acting like a dick towards Tiffany earlier. I don't. I'm glad she went off with Swagger actually, at least he'll have a mouth-piece now, and his lisp won't hold him back.
Short but sweet promo for Kaval.
Good main event. While Henry and Kozlov obviously slowed it down, what happened after the match was very good. Having Kozlov retreat on the go-home show ahead of No Way Out is the perfect finish to the night. I see Kozlov retaining, though.
OVERALL: I like the way you book ECW. Limited promos, but a lot of storytelling in the matches. People like DJ Gabriel and Ortiz are beginning to mean something, and the extra title should be a good addition. So pretty much, a good show. I honestly don't think you need Matt Hardy on this brand anymore. It'll be interesting to see what you do come draft-time. I assume you plan on holding it the week after 'Mania like the WWE?
No Way Out has a great card, and I'll leave some predictions when I read SmackDown. Apologies if I got a few things wrong in the review btw, as I haven't read the last couple of weeks worth of shows.

Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB
ECW Review: Dreamer as GM is a good idea as he is pretty much the only original left, Long as a heel is working pretty well for you and the match between Dreamer and him should be an interesting one. Pretty good way to kick off the show.
Low-Ki would work really well on ECW imo so it was a good choice to put him on the roster here. I am a Knox fan as well tbh so I didn't really care who won this but it looks like you are pushing Kaval so it was a good choice to put him over.
Nice to see you are using everyone on the roster and that Dreamer is making plenty of good decisions. I haven't really seen much of DJ Gabriel but he has been pretty impressive in your thread so far so it is making me interested in him.
The next match was well written, Miz is on a losing streak and I liked the way you made him seem urgent to finish the match off which would ultimately lead to his demise. I am a fan of Burchill so it's good to see him go over.
Wow interesting decision from Dreamer here, I'm not sure how a 6-team elimination chamber match will work but it should be interesting to say the least. I thought maybe Teddy Long would get the victory here after interference of some sort but it wasn't to be and now Long is gone, no big deal I guess.
I'm loving the fact that you are actually going to use Colt, I don't mind if its a slightly gay gimmick.
Chavo v DJ was a pretty good match and DJ's mid match snap seems to be the start of what should be a good gimmick, I am pretty sure I remember you talking about it in the discussion thread. I think DJ's dancing gimmick will counteract nicely with the crazy one.
I don't like Ortiz but by the looks of things he is going to be Cabana's first "victim" which should be interesting. The cage match itself was pretty good besides Ortiz's involvement. Nice swerve at the end with Tiffany leaving with swagger, looks like Cabana might have his hands full.
What you had Kaval say seemed a lot like things he would say in real life so that was pretty well done, having Styles scared of him added to his intenseness and hypes him well for the title match next week.
My only problem with the main event is that Bourne and Hardy seemed to dominate most of the match when in real life it would probably be the other way around. Bourne winning gives him some momentum in his feud with Kozlov while at the same times Kozlov doesn't lose any momentum.
Overall this was a pretty good show but I had two problems, one was that Tommy Dreamer almost got overused in the first half of the show, he just kept popping up. And the second was the way the main event was booked but that isn't a huge deal. No Way Out is shaping up to be pretty good as well.
