Before I start, I want to make things clear: Before each match there will be a video package hyping it. The general backstory behind each match can be found in preview for the PPV. This is recap-ish, so no pyro, pyro, pyro to start us off and no announcing team commenting on events. With that out of the way, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you:

The Royal Rumble

Extreme Rules Match
The Great Khali vs. Tommy Dreamer

Starting the night off, Tommy Dreamer stepped into the ring, bringing a cart full of weapons to ringside with him. Although the reaction to him was largely positive, the crowd were far more confused regarding The Great Khali when he entered the ring, who although a face, was being accompanied by Teddy Long, who through antagonizing Dreamer in recent weeks, had become somewhat of a heel. Khali seemed reluctant to get in the ring, but words of encouragement from Long, translated by Singh, persuaded the giant of a man to do so anyway. The match was underway.

Dreamer wasted no time in pounding on Khali, obviously he would need to beat on him for a long time if he wanted to win, but his clenched fists barely harmed the Punjabi Giant, who pushed Dreamer away from him, still ambivalent over fighting him. Dreamer persisted, and this routine repeated itself: Dreamer attacking, and Khali tossing him away. Finally, during Dreamer’s fifth or so assault, Khali hit the Brain Chop, downing the Hardcore Legend, who rolled to the outside, as Long yelled at Khali to finish the job. When Dreamer got up and reentered the ring, it was with a steel chair, and he slammed it viciously into the back of Khali, signaling the true start of the match. Khali, although fazed, turned to face Dreamer, who continued with chairshots: once, twice, thrice, and Khali was visibly in pain now. But he grabbed the chair and tossed it out of the ring, and hit several skull-cracking punches and headbutts, which left Dreamer worse off than the weapons had left Khali.

But Dreamer’s job, his dreams, his life were on the line and he wasn’t about to let them fade. He charged at Khali, and was downed, and again, but he was downed once more. Clotheslines, big boots, and brain chops, but although painful, they did not match Dreamer’s drive. Khali decided to take it up a notch, who hit several body slam variations before hitting the Khali Bomb. He hesitated for a moment as Singh and Long yelled at him to get the pin, which he did: 1, 2… No! Dreamer gets a shoulder up! Chants of ‘E-C-Dub’ fill the arena and Dreamer is invigorated. A flurry of fists make contact with Khali’s torso and finally head, and the assault staggers Khali. Dreamer goes to the outside and puts up a table. He looks set to flatten it and enter the ring with it when Long attacks him! Punch after punch! But the attack is short-lived as Dreamer clotheslines Long. But Khali took advantage and tossed Dreamer back in the ring. The two brawl, and Dreamer is on the losing end, Khali sends him to the ropes, but Dreamer comes charging on the rebound and clothesline Khali over the top-rope! He crashed into the table, and it breaks in half!

Long decides to try a sneak attack again, and strikes with a garbage can. He strikes again, and again! But Dreamer fights back again, and downs Long with a Dreamer Driver! He pulls Long to the corner, places him in the tree of woe, places the garbage can, running dropkick! Khali is slowly returning to the ring, and Dreamer goes to his cart, and reenters the ring with a kendo stick and a Barbie! He drops the Barbie to the floor and slices through the air with the kendo stick, leaving torturous bruises on Khali’s body. However, Khali is far more resilient than the average wrestler, he grabs the stick, and breaks it in half! He hits a scoop slam, Dreamer is gradually getting back up- Vice Grip! Khali has the submission move locked in, and Long, assisted on the outside by Singh, is laughing maniacally. This is it, Dreamer is turning purple and then white, as Khali’s massive palms squash his face. Dreamer is fighting for dear life here, he’s practically passed out, he’s stopped flailing, the referee is stepping closer, he turns to look at the timekeeper- BARBIE! Dreamer has grabbed the Barbie and slammed it into Khali’s face, just as the ref was about to signal for the end of the match! Khali lets go and Dreamer swings at him repeatedly. Khali is bleeding, he collapses on the mat. 1, 2…3!

Winner: And NEW General Manager of ECW Tommy Dreamer

Dreamer falls to his knees; tears dripping from his eyes as his career stays intact, and he regains control of ECW. Tommy Dreamer will finally be able to turn his brand around, and Long cannot believe it at all. Singh leaves him to help Khali, as the former General Manager of ECW has his head in his hands, with new GM celebrating in the ring.

Undisputed Women’s Title Match
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Natalya Neidhart

After both of the most dominant divas in the WWE, Natalya the top diva on Smackdown and Beth the Undisputed Women’s Champion (with Santino Marella) stepped into the ring, the title match started with some surprisingly good chain-wrestling. Soon enough the Glamazon gained the upper hand, using her strength to her advantage and flooring Natalya. The reigning champ was unrelenting, hitting punches and slams, inflicting pain on Natalya like she’d never felt in a WWE ring. Beth’s domination was at its peak when she downed Natalya with a Gutwrench Suplex/Gorilla Press Slam combination. 1,2… No! Natalya was far from being over.

The failed pinfall shifted the momentum in her favor, and she hit her own combination of moves, including a Snap Suplex, a Backbreaker and a German Suplex. 1,2… No! Beth, although rattled by Nataly’s skill, was nowhere near being pinned. The match went back and forth from here on out, with a few impressive spots from the two divas, including a Release Powerbomb from Beth, and a Sitout Scoop Slam Piledriver. However, as the match neared its end, it was the incumbent champion who was in control of things, having downed an incoming Natalya with a Sidewalk Slam. Beth picked up her challenger and held her in position for the Glam Slam, and she dropped Natalya- but the Hart-family female rolled in, reversing the move and sending Phoenix to the mat. Sharpshooter! Natalya has the Sharpshooter, the same submission move her uncle used locked in on Beth Phoenix… who taps! This is over!

Winner: And NEW Undisputed Women’s Champion Natalya

Natalya let go of Beth, who was being comforted, awkwardly, by Santino Marella, as the new champ celebrated. Years of hard work and months of waiting have finally paid off, and although Michelle McCool defeated her in her first title match, Natalya has won her second. Natalya becomes the 2nd ever Undisputed Women’s Champion and brings the prestigious title with her to Smackdown, where a host of divas will be waiting to challenge for the title.

The Star

A promo airs: A shooting star is seen falling from the dark skies, traveling at lightning speeds, passing by clouds and stars, before, with a massive crash, penetrating a huge structure, which as the camera pans back, proves to be the Joe Louis Arena, where a huge poster announcing the Royal Rumble can be seen.

Unknown Man: Don't do it, don't you bother to wish upon a shooting star. Your wish, my wish, the entire world's wish has already come true, tonight, the star of sports entertainment will land. Have your telescopes ready, for I am spectacular, I am phenomenal, I am your dream-come-true, I am... HERE!

ECW Title Match
Matt Hardy (c) vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Glaring at the unsupportive crowd, The Moscow Mauler, Vladimir Kozlov entered the ring, psyched up for his title match, and ready to win his first world title, or any title in fact, in the WWE. But Matt Hardy, who entered the ring to huge cheers, was not about to lie down for him, and the two circled each other, staring deep into one another’s eyes, as the bell rang and the match was due to begin.

Intent on punishing the ECW Champion for his Twist of Fate on Tuesday, Kozlov charged at Hardy, catching him off guard and sending him to the mat. Punches, stiff kicks, knees, shoulder blocks and even repeated headbutts made contact with Matt’s body, living him bruised and in pain, as Kozlov worked on each of his limbs in turn. For several minutes Hardy barely got any offense in, with only a few punches hitting Kozlov’s head, which were quickly reversed, once into a Belly-to-Belly Suplex, once into a Sambo Suplex, and when Hardy managed to strike several times and went for the ropes, he was hit with a Big Boot to the chest. Kozlov roared, clearly convinced that he had this won. He picked Hardy up, lifted him for the Inverted DDT- but Hardy hooked his arms onto Kozlov’s shoulders, and kneed him in the head: once, twice, three times, Kozlov staggers, and Hardy is control after several clotheslines finally down the Moscow Mauler!

Hardy goes to the ropes, and he hits the Elbow Drop! Pin: 1, 2… Shoulder up! Hardy was still in control though, even managing to hit a Moonsault and an Iconoclasm. He goes for the ropes again, he goes for the Missile Dropkick, but Kozlov catches him in midair and hits a Scoop Powerslam! The two stagger to their feet and exchange punches in the middle of the ring, Hardy gets the better of the match-up with a discus punch, Kozlov teeters on the spot, dizzied by the blow. Hardy goes for the Slinsghot Crossbody- BATTERING RAM! Kozlov downs the champ with a huge headbutt! Pin: 1, 2… Kick out! Kozlov sets up the Inverted DDT again, but Hardy repeats his last reversal and knees him in the head, he tries again, but Kozlov pushes Hardy’s back and hits the Gutbuster Drop! He doesn’t let go of Hardy, though. He stands up again- another Gutbuster Drop! And another! This has to be the end of it! 1, 2…. NO! Hardy gets a shoulder up!

Kozlov now has Hardy by the throat, he’s going to go for the Russian Chokeslam! But Matt strikes repeatedly with the elbow, and Vladimir is forced to let go, Hardy repeated forearm smashes, he whips Kozlov to the ropes and connects with a corner clothesline! Side Effect! 1, 2… Shoulder up! Hardy lifts Kozlov to a standing position, he signals for the Twist of Fate, he spins- Inverted DDT! Kozlov reversed the move and hit his own finisher! 1, 2… No! Hardy kicks out again! Hardy is living up to his monicker as the man who will not die. He now has the momentum in his favor and strikes with everything he’s got: punches, elbows, forearms, he goes to the ropes, Kozlov has him by the throat! Russian Chokeslam! 1, 2…. 3! This is over!

Winner: NEW ECW Champion Vladimir Kozlov

Vladimir Kozlov has ended Matt Hardy’s 4 month title reign, and is celebrating in the ring. He holds the title high with one arm and is roaring, yes, roaring like an animal at the crowd. Hardy is still out on the mat. He gave it his all, but the Moscow Mauler has emerged victorious.

An Interview

Backstage, Joey Styles is ready for his interview with Randy Orton, who is alone.

Styles: Randy Orton, tonight you face Finlay in a match you have never been a part of, a match he has mastered and innovated, do you think you're prep-

Orton: Let me stop you there Joey. What you just said, these shameful words that have just dripped from your mouth are exactly what I hate about Finlay and his followers. The Belfast Brawl is nothing in comparison with what I've faced in the past. Hell in a Cell with the Undertaker, Hardcore Match with Mick Foley, even the Texas Bullrope Match with Dusty Rhodes, those were matches. Those were tests of endurance, skill and cunning. The Belfast Brawl is nothing but a glorified street fight, and that's why Finlay chose it. Because he's nothing but a glorified street fighter, nothing but a drunken, rancid, freak-loving street fighter, who is a disgrace to himself, to this company, to this business and most importantly, to ME.

Styles:
But surely you must be worr-

Orton:
Worried? Is that what you were going to say? Worried? The Legend Killer Randy Orton, whose defeated the likes of Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Batista and those are all just from this past year. Finlay wouldn't be able to make bat an eyelash, and tonight, I will be reuniting one disgrace with another. Tonight, Finlay will join his son in the shadow realm. Tonight Finlay will join Hornswoggle on the brink of death, teetering on the edge between this world and the afterworld and the only thing I have to worry about is whether I'll be able to stop myself from pushing him over it...

Belfast Brawl Match
Randy Orton vs. Finlay

Orton appeared on the ramp to, without a doubt, the biggest jeers of the night. Flanked by the three other members of the Legacy, he took his time walking down the ramp, instructing Cody, Ted and Manu, who did not enter the ring with him, and instead headed towards the announce tables, where they waited. Encouraged by Evan Bourne, although ambivalent over his valet, Finlay made his way to the ring, where the ref had to stand between the two wrestlers as they stared holes into each other with cold, menacing leers. On the outside, the Legacy were berating Bourne, with an array of weapons to be found at every corner.

As soon as the bell rang Finlay was on Orton like an animal, striking repeatedly, pummeling away at Orton, who was forced to the mat, where the assault continued. Finlay was intent on causing as much damage as possible, and refused to stop hitting the Legend Killer, until he finally decided to take it up a notch, and went outside to grab a weapon. As Finlay grabbed a chair, Rhodes, DiBiase and Manu stood in his way, but Finlay didn’t care and attacked them with the chairs. But the numbers were too great, and the Legacy managed to restrain him, only for Bourne to interfere as well, dropkicking Manu over the barricades, as Finlay downed them both with a chair shot. Orton was up on his feet now, and when Finlay tried getting back in the ring he kicked him in the gut, and hit the Spike DDT, which had Finlay land head-first on the chair.

Orton was in control. He stomped away at Finlay, not sparing a single inch, driving the sole of his boots into Finlay’s limbs, head and body. He then grabbed the chair and proceeded to do the same: placing the chair over one of Finlay’s body parts, and stomping on it. He placed it on Finlay’s torso- but Finlay threw it up in the air and it hits Orton’s face! Finlay with several shoulderblocks! He grabs the chair, which is nearly deformed, and hits Orton! In the head! In the back! Everywhere! He throws it over the ropes, and it nearly hits Bourne, who dodges it! Finlay grabs his shillelagh, but Orton kicks it out of his hand, and they are now exchanging European Uppercuts! Finlay gains the upper hand and lands the Gutwrench Suplex! He grabs Orton by the head and is trying to lift him up- Small Package: 1, 2… Finlay kicks out of it, but Orton doesn’t wait, and he is slamming forearm after forearm on Finlay with lightning speed. He gets up and lifts Finlay up with him- Inverted Backbreaker! 1,2… No!

Orton stands, and drops to the mat again! He is stalking Finlay, preparing for the RKO! He’s elevating himself with his fists, and is now hopping on the spot, RKO- Yes! He hits it! 1, 2… No! Bourne dropkicks Orton off his friend! And the Legacy are in the ring and attack Bourne, outnumbering him and sending him to the outside. They use the opportunity to hit Finlay, and all three are landing hit after hit! But Orton pushes them away! He’s yelling at them to leave this to him, and they exit the ring. Orton is still yelling at them, and although they hesitate, the trio go backstage. Randy takes a few steps back and is gauging the situation. Finlay is on his knees… Orton runs at him! No! Finlay rolled away, spins Orton around- Celtic Cross! But Finlay didn’t come here for the win, he came here to destroy Orton!

The Fighting Irishman grabs his trusted weapon, the shillelagh, and heads back to Orton. He whips it across his opponent’s back! Again! Again! Finlay is hitting Orton with all the strength he has, and the Legend Killer seems on the brink of unconsciousness. What’s this? Finlay heads to the outside and grabs a chair, he places Orton’s head on it- another shot! Orton is now bleeding profusely! Another one! If someone doesn’t stop this, Finlay might wind up killing Orton! His face is unrecognizable! Finlay takes a few steps back, and he runs at Orton, shillelagh in the air, ready for the definitive blow! But he doesn’t hit it! Bourne has entered the ring and grabbed Finlay’s arm! He’s telling him not to do it, and won’t let go of the shillelagh. Finlay and Bourne are in a tug-of-war as Bourne tries to stop his friend from going too far. But he gets hit with the weapon for his troubles! Finlay turns back to Orton- RKO! RKO! 1, 2…3! Orton’s done it!

Winner: Randy Orton

The ref holds Orton’s arm up, and if you didn’t know it was Orton vs Finlay, you wouldn’t have known who this man was! Blood slithers down the Legend Killer’s head, and his shoulders, and even chest are dripping the crimson liquid. Paramedics come in and are treating Finlay, Bourne, and Orton, wiping some of the gore off him. But he pushes them away! Orton throws the paramedics off his opponent, he takes a few steps back, and charges! Punt to the head! Orton is standing over Finlay, his own blood cascading upon the fallen one’s face, as paramedics shove him away and treat Finlay. The Legend Killer strikes again.

The Return

A short promo airs: a man shrouded in darkness is walking along a sinister hallway, his footsteps echoing, the shot pans up over his body. You can only make out the outline of the man who extends his hand to a scrawny figure on the floor, helping the man stand up. A flash of lightning ends the promo, but the identity of the man is not revealed by the flash of light.

World Heavyweight Title Match
John Cena (c) vs. 'The Heart-Break Kid' Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels entered the ring, accompanied by tremendous cheers, and chants of 'HBK!' that persisted for much of the match. But these cheers became deafening when World Heavyweight Champion John Cena stepped into the ring, throwing his accessories to the crowd and shaking Michaels' hands before the bell rang and the match was underway.

The match went back and forth for the first few minutes, with Cena finally getting the upper hand, hitting several shoulderblocks followed up by a flying shoulderblock to establish his dominance. Michaels got up and Cena whipped him to the ropes, about to hit a Lou Thez Press, but HBK ducked under his legs, and hit the Inverted Atomic Drop. Now Michaels was in charge. After a few minutes of hitting Cena with some moves from his arsenal, Michaels went for the Elbow Drop, only for Cena to roll out of the way. As Cena attempted to capitalize, the downed Michaels tripped him and locked in the arm-trapping crossface. For nearly a minute the pigments on The Champ’s skin changed to dark red, and then to ghoulish white. But gradually Cena tried forcing his free hand between Michaels’ hands, attempting to free himself. In what was a split second, Cena rolled towards Michaels, freeing his arm, and broke the crossface, and by the time Michaels was face-first on the mat, Cena had locked in the STFU!

The Icon’s legs flapped behind him as he fought the submission. Again, for a minute, the blood rush and left HBK’s face. With his two legs free, however, he slowly crawled to the ropes, and with his left hand stretched nearly beyond what is physically possible, he reached them, and Cena immediately broke the hold. The Champ was once again on top, but with nearly ten minutes gone by, the two were visibly swept. Following the Flame Asser, Cena went for the FU. He lifted HBK up, and turned on the spot, with Michaels seemingly defeated. But that was not the case. HBK wriggled out of the hold, and hit Cena with a back suplex. He went for the Elbow Drop again and hit it this time, kipping up after it, and tuned up the band. 1! 2! 3! 4! Cena was up, Michaels was hopping on the spot, he went for it… Missed! Cena ducked, and he lifted Michaels up for the FU again! Michaels dropped from it for the second time, and hit several backhand chops, accompanied acoustically by woo’s from the crowd. Michaels sends Cena to the ropes, but he’s hit with a Clothesline! Another! ANOTHER!

Cena is now signaling for the 5-Knuckle Shuffle! He goes to the ropes, SWEET CHIN MUSIC! HBK stood up right after Cena started running, and hit him with the superkick on his way back! But Michaels is exhausted and drops the floor a few feet away from Cena. He stands up slowly and edges closer, nearly tasting the championship belt. CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL! JBL jumped over the barricades and lays his former ally out cold. The ref calls for the bell as Layfield stands over the two fallen superstars.
Winner: ‘The Heart-Break Kid’ Shawn Michaels by DQ

John Cena retains the title despite losing the match. After a replay of the final moments of the match, we see JBL staring down the ramp into the ring, where Michaels is on his knees and looking distraught; Cena is standing, using the ropes as support, and is staring at his title belt, his expression mingled with disbelief at the match ending, relief at retaining his championship and disgust at JBL’s interference. He helps Michaels up, shaking his hand and patting him on the back.

Big Interview

Eve Torres: I am here, backstage, moments before the WWE Title Match and standing with me is the Big Show. Who do you think will win in tonight's last title bout?

Big Show: I'll be honest with you, Eve, I don't give a rat's ass who wins tonight. Either it's Jeff Hardy, which means I'll be facing him at No Way Out for his title, or its Edge, who I'll then face at Wrestlemania after I win tonight's Royal Rumble. Either way, I have a monopoly over the WWE Title's future. It doesn't matter who wins tonight, because whether it be at No Way Out or Wrestlemania, I will be profiting from my dividends.

Eve Torres: But you must have an inkling or something, you must have a preference regarding who you'll have to face?

Big Show: I don't need a preference. Whoever it is I'll beat him. That said, my money is on Jeff. Edge is only where he is now because of Vicky Guerrero. He doesn't deserve to have his name on that belt, and once I become champion, I'll ensure that won't happen.

WWE Title Match
Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Edge

To overwhelming boos, Edge, with Zach Ryder and Curt Hawkins accompanying him, made his way to the ring, but only after bidding adieu to Vicky Guerrero. Soon afterwards, Jeff Hardy entered the ring, engulfed by arguably the biggest pop of the night. After the two wrestlers were introduced, and the WWE Title taken, the match began.

They started things off with some chain wrestling, out of which Edge came out on top, but he sent Hardy to the ropes and got hit with a Flying Forearm Smash, giving the WWE Champ the upper hand. Hardy dominated the match for a few minutes, hitting several of his signature moves, including multiple variations of the double-legdrop, as well as the corner dropkick. But the Edgeheads were having none of it, and when they distracted both Hardy and the ref, Edge lowblowed, and went for the pin, out of which Hardy kicked out. Still, the distraction shifted the momentum in Edge's favor, who was now hitting his assortment of moves on Hardy, including the Flapjack and Electric-Chair Facebuster. Another pin attempt, and another kick-out.

However, matters changed when Edge whipped Jeff into the ropes, having hit a corner clothesline, but Hardy ducked the Big Boot and hit the Whisper in the Wind! Things were looking up, and he hit the Swanton Bomb! 1, 2... Ryder pulled Jeff off Edge as Hawkins pulled the ref away from the count. The two are being reprimanded and Jeff is yelling at them to be ejected from ringside. The ref tells Jeff to return to the fight, but incomes Edge! Jeff dodges- the ref is SPEARED! Edge is shocked but quickly regains his focus and yells at the Edgeheads to bring in some chairs.

Jeff is surrounded by Edge and the Edgeheads, who are circling him. He goes for Edge, and hits him! Edge is down, but both Ryder and Hawkins connect with chairshots, and Jeff is down, too. He is being battered by chairshots from all three of them. Edge gets up and sets up the Con-Chair-To, and hits it! But the ref is still out and he can't get the pin. He orders the Edgeheads to hoist Hardy up. As they do, they pin each chair to the back and front of the champion, who is now standing up, assisted by them. Edge is doing his usual taunt in the corner, he dashes forwards- SPEAR! Unbelievable, an assisted, chair-aided spear by Edge! The ref is now coming to, and Edge throws the chairs out of the ring, as the ref, seeing Ryder and Hawkins in the ring, orders them away. Edge has pinned Jeff, and the ref finally turns around. 1, 2... KICK OUT!

Edge is furious at the ref for taking so long, and is in his face. He doesn't see Jeff who hits the bulldog! Edge gets up rapidly, and blocks a kick, but Jeff connects with a spinning mule-kick! Jeff is going for the Swanton again... but what's this? Vicky Guerrero is hurrying down the ramp, distracting the ref, who is forced to listen to his boss! Edge with the chair again! But he misses, TWIST OF FATE! But he can't get the pin because Vicky has his arm, but he's too strong for her, and as he pulls it away, she flies between the ropes and onto the floor. The ref exits the ring to take care of her, but Jeff doesn't care, and as paramedics rush to ringside he places the chair on the fallen Edge- SWANTON BOMB on the chair! The ref is now back in the ring! 1, 2...3!

Winner: And STILL WWE Champion Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy has overcome all obstacles and has retained the WWE Title. A stretcher is brought in for Vicky, as Jeff, although badly hurt and holding his back celebrates his tremendous victory!

The Royal Rumble Match

Entrant #1 - Triple H

First to enter the Rumble Match was Triple H, who was given this number after his attack on The Undertaker little more than a week ago, infuriating Vicky Guerrero who was then forced to cancel The Phenom's match. Will he able to battle through 29 other men and win the match? The Game walks to the ring with a sledgehammer in hand, followed by boos from the crowd, but leaves the weapon by the steel steps, outside of the ring.

Entrant #2 - Batista

With similar fate as The King of Kings, Batista stepped into the ring, having been given this number this week on Raw when he was pinned by Chris Jericho. And with these two powerhouses the match started, with the ex-stable mates circling each other first and then beginning a brawling match, each man pummeling away at the other. Triple H proceeded to whip Batista to the ropes, but when he came back, he was knocked to the ground by a shoulder block, which The Animal followed up with a Big Boot to the seated No. 1 entrant. He tried whipping Snitsky to the ropes, but is instead sent to them himself and- BIG BOOT to the head! Batista and he start fighting in one corner as Punk and Rhodes do the same in another. And Punk gets retribution with a GTS on Rhodes, which happens simultaneously as a Batista Bomb on Snitsky. Well, I guess I'll start off by saying that I'm extremely disappointed. This is probably my favorite current WWE thread, and after weeks of build-up and such for the Royal Rumble, which I understand is a pain in the ass to write as I am dreading it myself, but it is one of "the big 4" PPV's and I feel that it should be written in full. Sorry to rant in your thread, but nonetheless, I am going to review it because I am sure that it should be decent, although it will be in recap form.

Seemed like a decent hardcore style match, and I guess that it had to be the opener. Hopefully you can draw a difference in weapons and match style in the Belfast Brawl which is basically the same exact match. Liked the weapon use by Dreamer, as it is something he really would do, not to sure if I like him winning with a Barbie shot, but still good to see Dreamer win, and I really couldn't see him losing.

Natayla and Beth is actually seemed like a nice surprise on the card as these two ladies can really go at it. I do like how you captured Beth's power style and counteracted it with Natayla's technical wrestling background. The counter of the Glam Slam into the Sharpshooter was a nice touch, and it's good to see Natalya as champion as I like her.

At first, the promo was actually really cool with a star traveling at light speed, as that sets up a good picture. You also have the advantage of the fact that this is typed, as if an unknown man was talking, we would more than likely now who it was. The thing that concerns me about this promo though was the fact that he said he was phenomenal, please Wilde, please tell me this isn't AJ Styles, as he would be a waste of a "star" in my opinion.

It's gonna be interesting to see if you put the belt on Kozlov this early and if he will be going into Mania as champ. It appears that you will be as he picks up the win. The stand out part of this match really was the fact that Matt kept kicking out of everything Kozlov threw at him, which still keeps him incredibly strong. Decent enough match, although it did seem pretty one sided.

See, now that was a great promo right there. I really feel like you captured Orton with that promo as he put over all of his accomplishments which is something that he would do. The end makes him seem psychotic, which is exactly what he'll need to beat Finlay, and I see Orton picking up the win with help from the Legacy.

Bravo for this match right here. When it was announced, I was pissed, because not having Orton in the Rumble just seemed ridiculous, but this match showed me why. It was basically a glorified 4 on 2 match, but nonetheless, Orton basically pulled it out on his own. I'm not too keen on Orton's amounts of gushing blood as I'm not sure that was necesarry, but it gets him over as sadistic for overcoming it and still beating Finlay, and then going as far as punting him in the head after the match.

It's The Rock. It has to be.

Seemed like one of those matches back from their classic series back in the early months of 2007. Both men pull out all stops and HBK connected with Sweet Chin Music and was so close, but he has been screwed by JBL. You can go in a ton of different directions with this one, so I'll be looking to forward what you make of it.

The Big Show promo was good at first, with him showing off his dominant and cocky self talking about how it doesn't matter who wins, he's gonna take the title either way. But then at the end, he completely switches and goes with Jeff. Now, I understand you wanna get his hatred for Edge over, but still, for the sake of saving the promo, you should have left the last part out.

Hardy vs. Edge, I could really see this bad boy going either way. Wow, this match was pretty good, although the massive amounts of interference from the Edgeheads were expected, I still can't say that I'm a fan of the ref letting them stick around. As well, I can't really see how the chair assisted Spear would have worked, because if there was a chair on Jeff's front, wouldn't Edge have hit his head? Either way, Jeff kicking out of that move was crazy. Again, it has been interference overkill tonight as tons of interference has happended. Nice to see Jeff hold onto the gold, but will he being going into Mania as the champ?

Oh no, what have you done Wilde. I will resist my urge of ranting, and will simply dive into the fact that, sure, the WWE takes some TNA guys and signs them. But they certainly don't take 200 pound cruiserweights, debuting them 30 and have them win the Rumble match! I cannot see Styles in the WWE, it's just not his style. (no pun intended honestly) Once we're past that fact, I thought the Rumble was solid. I liked DiBiase staying in there for so long, as well as Morrison sticking around until the final four. The Taker/HHH/Batista elimination probably wasn't the best idea as it left the ring without star (no pun intended again) power for a few minutes. Also, I liked seeing Kennedy and Benjamin go at it, can see those two at Mania, as well as HHH against Taker which is all but confirmed. I liked the match as a whole, but I just can't see where you go from here.

Overall, for a re-capped PPV, I liked it. I'm not gonna say it would have been awesome if you wrote it in full, as I have never seen you write a full match, but still, this was your first PPV, not to mention it was the Rumble, and I would have liked to see it in full. I sucked on my predictions, so let's not go there, but still, Styles winning kills me. Where are you going from here, Hardy vs. Styles as your Mania Main Event? You can't do that to me. Nice show, as it did do a ton to help the road to WrestleMania, looking forward to the next RAW and you know I'll be reading.

Default Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB

I'll be answering some stuff here, add some post-rumble news and stuff which might be interesting and then move on to the Raw Preview.

Quote:
I presume Primo's going heel and Carlito's going face. Good for the midcard division, but awful for the tag division. You have Hawkins & Ryder, and they have no challengers! Jesse & Festus aren't credible.
The Tag Division is currently being reworked, some teams might split, some might form, hopefully it'll be for the best. I think the way the division is currently being used in the WWE isn't how I want to use it, so it needed to be remolded.

Quote:
-From what I've seen on the SmackDown side of things in this thread, Benjamin is losing too much. He lost to Big Show a couple of weeks ago if I recall, and now Kennedy.
If it hasn't come off properly, then I'm sorry, but Benjamin has actually been doing well in my thread, better than he has been faring in the WWE. He lost to Show and Kennedy, but he put up a good fight in both accounts, and has won several other matches, including a long-lasting and impressive showing in the Rumble. So don't worry about Shelton.

I initally thought of writing them in full, and I wrote a match in that way, but when I read it again, it just sounded terrible, there were paragraphs of pointless stuff and I just didn't enjoy writing or reading it, so I scrapped it and did the whole thing as a detailed recap. I think this format will stay in my PPVs, because I think it works. I wrote what I wanted to write, and you say you liked it, which is fantastic for me to hear. I also assume that the average reader would be more inclined to reading a recapped match than a full one, and they were still detailed enough for those who like them full.

Quote:
Seemed like a decent hardcore style match, and I guess that it had to be the opener. Hopefully you can draw a difference in weapons and match style in the Belfast Brawl which is basically the same exact match. Liked the weapon use by Dreamer, as it is something he really would do, not to sure if I like him winning with a Barbie shot, but still good to see Dreamer win, and I really couldn't see him losing.
At first I considered postponing Dreamer's match to NWO because it meant having two hardcore matches on the undercard. But I realised that the matches will go on completely different directions, so I hoped it wouldn't become repetitive, which I don't think it did.

Quote:
See, now that was a great promo right there. I really feel like you captured Orton with that promo as he put over all of his accomplishments which is something that he would do. The end makes him seem psychotic, which is exactly what he'll need to beat Finlay, and I see Orton picking up the win with help from the Legacy.
I'm relieved to hear that. I was afraid that my promos would be rusty or inadequate, but I think that I might resort to this approach for my regular shows. The matches will be as they are right now, but the promos will be more like the ones here. At least, that's the current plan, it might change.

Quote:
I understand you wanna get his hatred for Edge over, but still, for the sake of saving the promo, you should have left the last part out.
I actually agree with you. I tried to do too many things with the promo and it backfired, hopefully I've learned from this.

Quote:
As well, I can't really see how the chair assisted Spear would have worked, because if there was a chair on Jeff's front, wouldn't Edge have hit his head?
I think Edge normally just gives a very hard hug when spearing. He tilts his head in a way that it doesn't contact with the person, and I figured the same would apply if he speared a chair. It would obviously hurt his shoulder, but it would hurt Jeff a lot more.

Quote:
I cannot see Styles in the WWE
Honestly, I'm disappointed and surprirsed to see this reaction, and you're not the only one who thinks this was a bad move. I'm not really bothered with what the WWE would and wouldn't normally do, because this is my BTB, and I have the freedom to do things they wouldn't do, such as extend ECW's timeslot etc. I have no problem giving a backstory to why AJ chose WWE, and I might just do that. But why did I let AJ win tje rumble? Well, I love AJ, he's one of my favorite wrestlers and I wanted him in my fed. I also, mistakenly it seems, assumed that AJ was world-famous. See, when I came to WF I barely knew anything about wrestlers apart from the current WWE ones, but I knew about AJ, more than I did about Christian actually. So I assumed that he could immediately jump into the ME scene, which is what I did. I wanted him in the mai9n event scene, and now he is, and he's had one of the greatest debuts ever. The WWE wouldn't do it, because they don't want another Lesnar, but that won't happen here, so I was free to do it. It's a shame I made that mistake about AJ's status, but I stck by my decision, I think he will only improve the Smackdown roster, and I've got good plans for him, I think. So we'll just have to see.

I was really trying to use this chance to let some young guys jump a few places, and seeing your reaction to DiBiase, Morrison and Shelton tells me I did my job. I took out those 3 out of the match, well, you'll see why I took out Batista, and Taker went out for plot purposes, and Trips went out as a part of the Kane push. But, really, I took some big guns out a. to make the ending even more unpredictable. and b. because I wanted to give Morrison, Swagger, DiBiase and Kane the ring pretty much to themselves. They got to shine and I hope this will be a memorable match for them. It's very important for me to push the young guys as well as give the old guys something to do, and this time, this was the way to do it, IMO. You still had main eventers in the ring, and you also had some pure talent in there too.

Now, onto the predictions:

kingofscotland - 6.5 pts
DK-LKN - 8 pts

JD wins! As I said, any (adequate) reviews will get 1 million credits, and are of course still welcome.

Styles has long been identified with the company, where he became most successful, and TNA fans around the globe were outraged to see one of their top talents appearing in their rival's PPV. Sources close to WWE and TNA officials, as well as AJ himself, attirubute his decision to several factors: Styles was reportedly unhappy about the direction TNA was taking, especially the results of their current main feud, with Styles claiming more than once that what was planned wasn't happening. AJ was also reported to have said that he was frustrated at having to continuously fight guys the guys from the Main Event Mafia. Styles was quoted as saying that guys like Nash and Steiner could no longer do perform at the top level, and one of the reasons Styles loved working in TNA was because of the performances every wrestler put in with every match, as well as the ability to always do something new, which was becoming more and more difficult in TNA, since he simply couldn't do the same stuff with heavyweight like Sting than with guys like Samoa Joe or Christopher Daniels. Sources in the WWE claim that during negotiations, AJ was promised feuds with guys he could do 'what he loved doing', despite the company's abundance of heavyweights. It is believed that the WWE's better financial position in the current crisis had something to do with his decisions, with reports claiming that his salary would be nearly doubled there. Finally, AJ will be able to use his 'Phenomenal One' gimmick in the WWE, because the gimmick was trademarked to him, as a part of his last contract negotiations with TNA.

Original plans were to have Kane kayfabe injure him at the Rumble, but Kane's recent face turn meant that another option had to be found. Randy Orton was the next in line, but Orton was placed in a program with Finlay, and the writers did not wish to have the two face off on Raw, because Orton would be busy with other angles. Finally, it was decided that Ted Dibiase Jr. will 'injure' Batista. The backroom staff on Raw is said to be very high on the youngster, who had a good showing at the Rumble, eliminating The Animal, and whose future is very promising. It is expected that when Batista recovers, which won't happen until Judgement Day at the earliest, he will enter a program with Ted. This just goes to show how big the WWE are on DiBiase, and a push in the near-future is practically a guarantee, especially considering that DiBiase has to step up if he is to face Batista in a few months.

Finlay's son got in a car accident, which is also why Finlay was written out of last week's taping of ECW as well as 'injured' by Orton last night. The 50-year-old wrestler will be taking some time off from the show until his son recuperates (which is hauntingly similar to what happened in the storyline with Orton), but David reportedly didn't suffer grave injuries, and we could see Finlay back by Wrestlemania.

Lats night's PPV ended shockingly enough, but what were some of the other plans which were thrown out in favor of AJ's surprise win? Early plans had MVP return from his hiatus and winning his first match after his poor form, but the writers thought that MVP needed more time away to justify any such win, and AJ's arrival meant that the Main-Event scene would be packed for the coming months, and the writers did not wish for MVP to get overlooked and misused. The names of Triple H, Kane, Undertaker, Orton and Jericho were also considered, but were all dropped in favor of other Wrestlemania plans. Umaga and Big Show were also shortlisted, but were quickly scrapped, although they have been mentioned as top candidates for next year's match, and the two might be pushed before then, in an attempt to gauge this possibility. Although possible, all of Morrison, Swagger, Bourne, Benjamin, Kennedy, and Punk were considered, but were scrapped quickly, as they are still not ready to main event Wrestlemania.

Finally, the most likely candidate for a while seemed to be the Rock. Quite like with Jericho's return, the Rock's has been obvious, and is universally expected to make his return tonight. However, creative did not wish to give Rock the Rumble win, since his new contract only lasts 6 months, with an option for extension. And they didn't want him to return and lose his first match. It has also been said that Dwayne is not interested in being in the title picture, and has returned mainly to give back to the business. Rumours are pointing at The Rock vs. Orton at Wrestlemania, which would mean that Orton would have to lose his match against Cena, most likely with the Rock interfering in the match.

The WWE staff have recently overhauled ECW, and Dreamer was the kayfabe reason for it, and with him as GM of ECW, creative are looking to introduce more changes to the brand, which will hopefully see it rival Smackdown in ratings, and if last month's Nielsen ratings are anything to go by, that might be the case. The WWE has reportedly been in talks with other TNA superstars, as well as wrestlers from ROH, AAA and other indie federations, and in the coming months we might see several new faces on ECW. Kaval (Low Ki) and other FCW youngsters are also touted with a call-up to the ECW roster soon.

Raw Preview (January 26th)

24 hours removed from the Royal Rumble and Raw is sure to be a can't-miss-show tonight! A Raw superstar might not have won the Royal Rumble, but word from Stephanie McMahon's office says that tonight she will address the WWE Universe, and the #1 Contendership is said to be a part of her announcement.

But that's Wrestlemania plans we're talking about, first we have No Way Out, where Randy Orton will face John Cena for his title, after Cena retained against Shawn Michaels and Orton defeated Finlay. Tonight we shall hear from both the champ and the Legend Killer, who with the Legacy on his side, has the scales tipped in his favor come No Way Out. Will Cena power through all 4, will he even need to? Is there someone backstage who can help balance the scales?

Shawn Michaels was attacked by JBL last night, just as he was about go become World Heavyweight Champion. The Self-made Millionaire has asked for a forum tonight, but with Michaels back in financial peril because of him, it might be safer for him to stay at home and keep his mouth shut.

This and more (including an Intercontinental Title rematch) tonight on Raw! Don't miss it!

Like I said earlier, reviews for Rumble still welcome and thanks to those who have reviews as well as those who follow this BTB!

I'm decided not to review your Royal Rumble due to the fact I really couldn't add anything different to the other review.

I will say however that I liked AJ coming to WWE and winning, mainly because he is one of favourite wrestlers and in my opinion is world class.

I'll be sure to tune into Raw and will review that.

Royal Rumble review

This is the first PPV I've read without checking the results first, so I'm hoping for a shock. Bare in mind this is only the third PPV I've ever read, period, so I'm going to be rusty in reviewing it. Here goes...

The Great Khali vs. Tommy Dreamer
Not a good choice for the opener - the ECW title match would've been better here. However, despite it being an awful match on paper, you kept it short. I did like how you booked it, with the interference from Long, and the vice grip being locked in shortly after. However, the ending is questionable. If it was extreme rules surely the referee wouldn't turn to the timekeeper when Dreamer's nearly passed out. The only way to win is pinfall or submission. As I say, up until the ending it was well-booked and it seemed to be short. Tommy Dreamer as ECW general manager should be interesting. Passable.

Beth Phoenix vs. Natalya Neidhart
My initial thoughts on this match are that it was too short. I know they're not in full, other than the Rumble. However, the length should represent how long the actual match is in comparison to the others. The Dreamer/Khali match was longer. Onto the match. I did like the ending, despite Beth tapping out. A roll-up would've made Natalya look like a fluke. I didn't see her winning either. Not sure about her being champion over on SmackDown, not much competition. Only criticism I have is the length, but otherwise decent, nothing spectacular. With all its potential, it fell below my expectations to be honest.

One word in that promo makes me think it's AJ. We'll see...

Matt Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov
Another one of my predictions is wrong! Well, I liked this match, and I definitely think this would've been better for the opener. It had some good story-telling I suppose, and I've never said that about a match before. The story was obviously Hardy's refusal to be put away, desperate to cling onto his title. I was waiting for the inevitable comeback, but it never came, which wasn't really something that disappointed me. However, Kozlov picking up the win, and in turn the title is a good thing for the future. I can see him holding the belt until 'Mania. Overall, this wasn't one of my anticipated match-ups on this card, but with its title change, and decent description, it exceeded my expectations.

Good Orton promo here. Nothing to add.

Randy Orton vs. Finlay
I retract what I said about the match order now. I can see why you did it in this order, as you didn't want the two hardcore matches back-to-back. Good choice in the end then. Another good choice to get the inevitable interference out of the way early. The first criticism I have was Orton rolling Finlay up in a small package. Doesn't work in a hardcore bout and doesn't fit Orton's psychotic character - especially with the promo he cut before the match. Orton sending the rest of the Legacy to the back doesn't make much sense either, if he's struggling and Bourne's still out there. I'll give you credit for the ending. There's some decent slow built character development with Finlay, as I recall back on ECW when I thought he might be turning heel. Looks like that may have happened tonight. Orton wasn't really made to look good in this match, until the aftermath when he punted Finlay. Overall, too much interference for my liking.

John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels
The first three paragraphs of this were pretty excellent. Being a fan of both men involved, it was living up to my expectations, and well-written. When Cena had the STFU locked in it would've been nice if you referenced their match from 'Mania 23. My complaint about the ending would be that it ended in a DQ. Not only because it now makes me 3-2 down predictions wise, but also because it just shouldn't happen on pay-per-view, especially in a world title match. I also find it hard to believe that it was only like 10 minutes into the match (correct me if I'm wrong) and Michaels is already exhausted. He's not that old! I have no idea where JBL and Michaels are headed now. It leaves me anticipating Raw, but in the context of a pay-per-view, not good.

Surely Show won't be in the main event for No Way Out, that means Edge wins here...

Jeff Hardy vs. Edge
More interference? Come on, that's three in a row now. The ref bump wasn't neccesary either imo. In terms of unpredictability this was booked well, this could've gone either way, and I'm now 4-2 down in my prediction because of that. Despite it being unpredictable I just didn't like the way you booked it. These two have good chemistry and can just go out there and put on a good match, with Jeff going over cleanly. With all the interference, ref-bumping and near-falls, Jeff retaining seemed a bit anti-climatic to me. I don't know, it just disappointed me, considering the potential it had.

Royal Rumble match
Okay, I'm going to be less harsh on this match, as I know how much of a pain these can be to write having attempted one myself. I'm not sure how to go about reviewing it either, but I took a few notes as I was reading it, so I'll comment on those, and do my best. Triple H and Batista starting it out was good, it's important to have a couple of stars in the early part, but leads me to think we're getting someone HUGE at the end. I like how you almost broke the action up with the comedy spots from DJ Gabriel with his dancing, and Marella, with his quick elimination. Comic relief is important in a Rumble. More good booking with Kane, Big Show and Umaga's entrances, getting respective eliminations right off the bat.

A lot of the midcarders seemed to get decent runs in the Rumble match. Benjamin, Morrison and especially Rhodes looked good in the match. One criticism would be the placement of Miz and Morrison's entries - perhaps a bit too convenient for them. Swagger picking up Henry for a gutwrench powerbomb is also a bit unrealistic. Batista can't even do that, so I doubt Swagger can. Umaga's elimination disappointed me too - a dropkick?! Really? Undertaker and Triple H's confrontation was well-booked, and I loved DiBiase eliminating Batista like that.

Okay, down to only a few men, so I can talk more in-deph about it. Out of the men in the ring, I can't see anyone of them winning it - gotta' be one of the final two entrants. AJ Styles! Called it... I guess I called it way too late. It begs the question of when The Rock is indeed returning. Anyway, AJ returning and winning the Rumble is indifferent for me. A lot of the WWE audience would have no idea who he is, but since this is BTB it's not a terrible move. I'll still say that him winning the Rumble on his first night in the company is a shock, but it's just setting him up for a fall. No idea what brand he'll be on, with two face champions. I'm interested to see what happens on this week's shows, so job done I guess. I would've liked more exchange between Jericho and Styles at the end there - they could do a lot together given the platform.

This match was very well-booked. You basically gave the fans no choice but to cheer for Styles, with all the other top faces already out of the match when he entered. The winner is questionable, but as long as you give him decent build between now and 'Mania, it should be okay. Basically, very good booking, nice spots in there, and a controversial ending which leaves people desperate to see Raw and SmackDown. Saved the show.

OVERALL: I hope this was the kind of review you were looking for. I tried not to be recap-ish or subjective. I said in my last post that this was going to be very unpredictable, and it was. I'm down 4-2 in my predictions. Like the WWE had in real-life, you've got a ton of questions to be answered following this PPV, who will Styles challenge, JBL's explanation, and the one I'm most anticipating, where the hell is The Rock?! No Way Out methinks.

Anti-climatic is a word I'd use to describe this pay-per-view. Now, I did like it, but I was sure one of the world titles would change hands, and we'd have someone HUGE winning the Rumble. Maybe that was more my fault than yours but I was expecting something big to happen.

Basically, I did enjoy the show. When breaking it down match-by-match, the two world title bouts disappointed me a lot. But still, for your first pay-per-view, you did well. Good job.

Royal Rumble Review

Opening match was okay, it was certain for Dreamer to beat Khali especially to declare Teddy as the GM. The match wouldn’t have been made if it wasn’t going to end up somewhere else, especially in BTB, nonetheless I’m glad Teddy got involved at a point to try and still be the GM, is he heel btw? Good match to kick off the show. Cart full of weapons FTW!? LOL.

Natalya winning via submission. About time Phoenix lost the title, in BTB anyway. That’s good and this other Neidhart was? Sorry I didn’t watch the WWE far back in history tbh. Good match, glad Natalya won, especially via Submission.

Another new champion, hope no more come tbh. Kozlov winning is good to set up a loss for Mania possibly, hopefully not from the hands of Undertaker too. Anyway I liked finish. And the difference between a Russian Chokeslam and a General Chokeslam is? LOL. Also, Matt kicks out to the Battering Ram. Makes Kozlov look weak though in a way, the only downer here tbh, good stuff.

Glad Orton interrupted Styles, shows his character well imo. You mean eyelid when you say eyelash right? An Orton interview right before an Orton match? Oh yeah they do that in PPVs lol. Glad Orton won with an RKO instead of a weapon, especially as it was a brutal match. Well done. Although, I would’ve preferred Orton and Finlay in the Rumble match tbh, making non-title matches at the Rumble aren’t really necessary.

This must be the Rock. Who else? Card is a bit packed tbh.

Aww man, a run-in at the Rumble? Although JBL needs to get things straight with Michaels, I think it has a good purpose, but I hope this doesn’t mean JBL versus John Cena at No Way Out, triple threat plz. Nice ending, Sweet Chin Music from a 5 Knuckle Shuffle though, could’ve done with the FU being hit at some point, and a kick out maybe, good match.

Big interview.

I liked Vickie’s interference, but who were the paramedics after, Vickie? Glad Jeff got his own back with the chair. Also, I’m glad there’s no Matt Hardy. TBH I reckon the World Heavyweight Championship match should’ve been after the WWE Championship Match in the non-Royal Rumble Match main event. But nonetheless, I liked the ending and I’m glad Jeff retained.

Ahhh, the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match. Definitely not happy it wasn’t in full, recapped isn’t the way of doing it imo. Batista and Hunter at the start - cool. They’re then joined by lower carders Manu, Gabriel and Chavo, which is realistic so good job here. Glad Manu went first as well, and the first to go was with a clothesline which I believe is better than simply throwing them over the ropes. Good start to the match. Two more big superstars Snitsky and Kane come in, could’ve been in earlier to dominate the match and give Big Dave / Trips a run for their money, also glad you got rid of Chavo and Gabriel fairly quick. Snitsky gone by Kane, congrats to him, overpowering everyone since he’s been in, and I like Kane as one of the top dogs, meanwhile I hope he wins. Two big guys on the run isn’t so good though, well I’m not sure weather we could class Kane as one, but anyway he will dominate over the littelens. Punk goes early without an elimination, I think he could’ve got one either way with Ortiz just gone. Undertaker, not 30, about time he didn’t get the whole spotlight. Hope he doesn’t win as well, I think this star might win or the Rock. Glad Benjamin’s done alright getting at least a couple of eliminations. TRIPLE H GONE BY KANE!! YIPPEE! GREAT PUSH FOR KANE, hope it continues into your shows with a feud, and hopefully Kane for the World title! OMG. Batista by Ted? The star, I thought it could be, AJ STYLES! Never seen him wrestle but a cruiserweight in last, even on a return is a downer and for him to eliminate Kane is something I hate. And Jericho for the win? OMG, it’s a shock to say the least. LOL.

Overall, good show. Not many grammar problems or typos and I enjoyed the Rumble match even thought it was recapped. Still, not happy Kane got eliminated by a Cruiserweight and to go on and win, I’ll say again. LOL. Good booking, hopefully at NWO you will write it in full. As for now I’ll rate you as a recapped PPV, giving away a couple of marks. LOL.

83/100.

Default Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB

((You'll notice the show is done under a new format, as a way to incorporate the full promos I'm now doing, any advice or input regarding the new format and how to make it better would be appreciated, since I'm unsure about it. Also, I just noticed I hadn't posted any Rumble factoids in my last post, I'll post some tomorrow. Reviews for the Rumble are, as always, welcome.))

Raw (January 26th)

The Return

Less than 24 hours after one of the biggest PPVs of the year, we are back on Raw with King and Cole discussing the event, as well as a video package showing Orton defeat Finlay, Natalya defeat Beth, and JBL's interference. Then 'Voices' played and Orton and his Legacy.

Orton: Last night I did what I do every time I come out into the ring. I did just what I said I'd do. I told the world that Finlay would be reunited with his son, and that's what happened. Let this be a warning to everyone backstage, everyone in the audience and anyone in the world: you cannot beat me, you cannot stop me, all you can do is bow down to the Legacy's might. Just last night, we took out two wrestlers: the disgraceful Finlay, and the dimwitted brute, Batista. In case you did not watch the Rumble, allow us to fill you in.

DiBiase Jr.: Last night the Legacy dominated the Royal Rumble. Chavo Guerrero, Hurricane Helms, Batista. Those are the names of the men who fell to our superior skill, and soon that list will include the rest of the roster. You see, what separates us from the rest of the roster, apart from talent and pedigree, is that we show initiative. When opportunity presents itself we take advantage, and Batista can attest to that.

Rhodes: If any of are hoping that Batista will come charging down that ramp to save the day, think again. Batista will be out for months, forget your knights in shining armor, this is the real deal. No one can stop us now, not Batista, not Finlay, not-

* My Time is Now *

To loud cheers the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena appeared on the ramp and walked to the ring, as Orton calmly instructed the other three to take a step back, not taking his eyes off Cena.

Cena: In the words of Abraham Lincoln: 'Shut the hell up!' You think you're hotshots now? Picking on people like Hornswoggle, who doesn't even reach your waist-line; Finlay who older than most of you combined; using weapons to get get ahead in the Rumble; double-teaming peop-

Orton: I suppose you haven't heard of the term 'strategy', John. You see, a true wrestler will do whatever it takes to win. Unlike you, we don't attack blindly. We consider, we calculate, we plan and most importantly, we win. If it weren't for JBL, last night would've seen Michaels coming out here as champion, and it would be him, and not you, John, who would be losing the title at No Way Out against the Legend Killer.

Cena: You know, at No Way Out, it's true, I will be losing a few things: I will lose count of how many times I punch you so hard you forget who your momma is, I will lose the sensation in my hand from hitting you so many times, but if there's one thing I won't lose, it's my title.

Orton: John, there's something your tiny, little brain just doesn't absorb for some reason. That title, and my waist are meant for one another. That title is my destiny, it's my birthright, and I, and I alone, deserv-

* Know Your Role *

If you smeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell what the Rock... is cooking! The most electrifying man in sport entertainment steps onto the ramp, and the fans' pop is nearly deafening. Everyone in the ring seems shocked, although Cena is more so amused, and Orton has barely altered his visage. The Rock takes his time to walk down the ramp, posing for the fans, looking in great shape and wearing street clothes. He finally steps into the ring, still soaking up the crowd's ongoing reaction, and after a while forms a triangle between Cena, Orton (and the Legacy) and himself.

The Rock: Finally, The Rock has come back to Raw! (the fans' cheers intensify, before dying down again.) The Rock has some news to all of the Rock's fans. You see the Rock knows what the fans want, and the Rock knows what the fans need and he knows how to get it. The Rock is not here to rile people up for no goddamn reason, the Rock is here restore order. The Rock has been watching Raw every week since he left, and with every week that passed the Rock knew he would have to come back sooner or later. You see the Rock looks at the Raw Roster and sees people who shouldn't be there, he sees people who don't deserve the chances and opportunities they get.

Rhodes: Who the hell do you think you are? Who are you to tell us who deserves to have success in this company?

The Rock: Who the hell do you think you are for interrupting the Rock?

Rhodes: I-

The Rock: It doesn't matter what you think! So why don't you go to the locker room and catch up on 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' while the grown-ups talk? As the Rock was saying, he has seen how the business has gone down-hill since he left and the Rock is back, and he is going to put it back where it should be, at the very top.

Orton: Don't get ahead of yourself, Rocky. Because despite what these fans might want, this company, this business doesn't need you anymore. You're spoiled goods, Rock, you're past your expiration date. The Legacy will rise to the top and take the business with it, while you continue to raise your eyebrow in front of a camera. That's all you're good for anymore, Rocky, don't embarrass yourself by putting your own legacy in jeopardy. And believe me, if you stand in our way, we will wipe you off the map.

The Rock: Oh, please, Randy, don't. Please, I won't stand in your way, let me be, please!!! Just don't wipe me off the map, please! I have a better idea, maybe instead of doing that, you take that map, turn it sideways, and stick up your candy-ass!

Orton seems about to burst, and has glued his forehead to Rocky's, who stares right into his eyes, unyielding. Orton breathes heavily but withdraws as Cena stands behind the Rock in support. The Legacy slowly make their way out, but they were faking it! Cody, Ted and Manu rush at Cena and the Rock. Rocky swiftly hits the Rock Bottom on Manu, as Cena battles Ted and Cody, but the Rock and he show great coordination as Cena ducks while the Rock hits a double clothesline. Orton is in position to hit the RKO on Cena, as the Rock kicks Ted and Cody out of the ring... but Cena reverses it, and he has him in position for the FU! But Orton wriggles out of it and rolls out of the ring. The Legacy are slowly fleeing from the ring, but the Rock is not over, he walks over to the fallen Manu- People's Elbow! Cena and he shake hands as Orton seethes on the ramp, and Raw goes to commercials.

*

When we come back Dolph Ziggler enters the ring with JTG already in it, as Shad stands outside the ring. Ziggler and JTG go at it for a few minutes, but Dolph dominates most of the match after losing it when JTG wouldn't shake his hand when he introduced himself. Ziggler got the pin after locking in a full-nelson and hitting a backstabber.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Literally, No Way Out

After that big opening of the show, Stephanie McMahon entered the ring as the commentators recapped what happened earlier, still pumped from the Rock's return.

Stephanie: The WWE has always strived to top itself with each and every show, and as General Manager of Raw, I intend to do just that. After getting word from AJ Styles that he will be joining Smackdown, I realised that I needed to come up with something great for Raw's Road to Wrestlemania. And that's why I am proud to announce that at No Way Out, we will be holding... an Elimination Chamber match! At first I thought that it would be enough to have a #1 Contender's Match for the World Heavyweight Title, but would that be enough? Last year at No Way Out the exact same match took place, and I cannot let that happen. It would not be fair to you, the fans, if I were to offer you a recycled PPV. So after talking to the WWE board, we have come up with an even better plan for No Way Out. The Elimination Chamber match will include members from all three WWE brands, with the winner receiving a world-title shot at Wrestlemania.

But how is that really different from last year when we had two chambers where the Undertaker and Triple H emerged victorious? Well, after some meetings with specialists and engineers, we came up with a way to innovate the Elimination Chamber match. In 3 weeks, at No Way Out, we will have... a 10-man Elimination Chamber! Two men will start the match off, with 8 others waiting in each of the 4 pods, which will now be larger than ever before and include a bullet-proof partition to separate the two men in each pod. Every 5 minutes one pod door will open randomly, and the superstar inside will enter the match. 10 of the WWE's top stars, more than forty minutes of action, 12 tonnes of steel, more than 2 miles of chain and 1 winner who will get the opportunity of a lifetime at the Grandest Stage of Them All!

As previously agreed with Vicky Guerrero and Tommy Dreamer, Raw will have 4 of the spots in the match, while Smackdown and ECw will each get 3. Tonight and next week 8 men will face off to determine who will get one of the coveted spots. Tonight it will be JBL against Rey Mysterio and in the main-event, Chris Jericho and the 'Heart-Break Kid' Shawn Michaels, one on one.

Stephanie's music then sounded and she left the ring, and a promotional video recapping the opening promo for those who missed it.

Italian Power

Accompanied by the former champ Beth Phoenix, Santino Marella entered the ring, ready to face Charlie Haas, who was in regular wrestling attire. The match went back and forth for a while with Haas having the advantage for large parts of the match, but Santino connected several moves one after the other, including a spectacular STO, and locked in the Granchio Milanese (Brock Lock), forcing Haas to tap nearly immediately.

Winner: Santino Marella w/Beth Phoenix

After a commercial break, Santino and Beth enter Stephanie's office.

Stephanie: I assume you want to set the date for your rematch against Natalya, Beth?

Santino: Wressamania! The Glamazon will-a face that meatball of a woman-a at Wressamania!

Phoenix: What? No, I told you I'm going to get my rematch at No Way Out, Santino.

Santino: But-a no, bella bolognaissa! I want-a ya cheering for the Italian Stallion when I pin Hon Sena for the title!

Stephanie: Randy Orton is facing John Cena at No Way Out, not you, Santino.

Santino: But that is-an-outrage-a! Why does that-a metrosexual get a match before the great-a Santino Marella! Well-a, nevermind, I will-a win the Chamber Match!

Phoenix: How am I supposed to help you when you're in that chamber, Santino?

Santino: Bella mia, when my eyes-a catch a glimpse of yous at-a ringside, leetle Santini gets -xcited, an' when-a leetle Santini get-a -xcited, I can beat anyone!

Phoenix: Fine, I'll face Natalya at Wrestlemania.

Satisfied like a child hearing it'll go to a theme park, Marella jumps up and down and hugs Beth, giving her a kiss on each cheek before doing the same to Stephanie and leaving her office, singing Italian Opera songs to himself in his ecstasy, leaving the GM in a state of shock and disgust.

Rematch

Following last week's loss, William Regal is no longer the Intercontinental Champion, and alongside Layla made his way to the ring. Once the incumbent champ, CM Punk made his way to the ring, his girlfriend Kelly Kelly by his side. In a match that saw both men brutally at each other's throats, following their hellish encounter at the Royal Rumble, Regal threw everything he had in his arsenal at Punk, who refused to give up. After Layla successfully stopped the pin count after the GTS, leading to Kelly laying her out for the second week in a row, Punk locked in the Anaconda Vice, and despite Regal battling it in impressive manner, he couldn't take it anymore, and tapped.

Winner: And STILL Intercontinental Champion CM Punk w/ Kelly Kelly

After the match, Layla tried to console Regal, only for him to yell at her for not helping him properly, while Punk and Kelly celebrated up the ramp.

You're Out

In the locker room find Manu sitting on a bench, pressing ice against his forehead, with Cody and Ted talking inaudibly in the corner. Someone steps into the room and Rhodes and DiBiase stop talking to watch, as the man stops right in front of Manu who looks up to see it's Orton.

Orton: I gave you a chance, Manu. I thought that you, like the rest of the Legacy had the pedigree and skill to stand side by side with the future World Heavyweight Champion. Instead, you become the first to be eliminated at the Royal Rumble, and by Batista! A man Ted single-handily eliminated. And tonight, you embarrass yourself, and you embarrass me by getting your ass handed to you by the Rock. You're a liability, Manu, and you're out.

Manu: I'm what?!

Orton: You're out! Only the best deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as myself, and you're not one of them.

Manu tries to attack Orton, who sees it coming and RKOs his former stable-mate. He takes a few steps back and seems disposed to punt Manu, but changes his mind. He tells Manu that he can count himself lucky, and leaves, Cody and Ted going after him.

Should've Done it Yourself

After JR informs the WWe Universe that JBL has allowed Snitsky to fight for him, most likely as a way to stop Shawn Michaels from interfering with his match, Snitsky entered the ring alone, followed by Rey Mysterio. Snitsky did his best to ground Rey whenever he could with his superior strength, but the smaller superstar was not to be grounded and went to the air whenever he could, hitting several of his trademark, high-flying moves. Finally, a ducked Big Boot attempt allowed Mysterio to dropkick Snitsky to the ropes, and a 619 later, he got the win, and became the first person to grab a place in the Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

After a promo hyping No Way Out, we see Snitsky walking backstage, stopping at the site of JBL. He looks down, not wishing to lock eyes with his boss, who glares at his employee before walking past him, not saying a word regarding his failure.

Main Event

In a match that brought memories of mere months ago when these two went head to head in a feud that threatened to consume both wrestlers and possibly destroy their careers, Jericho and Shawn Michaels gave the fans what they paid for. Fast-paced, non-stop action, chain-wrestling and some impressive spots made this a match that nearly rivaled their bout at Unforgiven. Both men hit their signature moves, including Jericho's Lionsault and HBK's Elbow Drop.

The match poured to the outside, just as Jericho started gaining the upper hand. Michaels was down, and was gradually getting back to his feet as Y2J went for the Codebreaker! But Michales pushed him away, and he hit the steel steps. As the ref counted, HBK reentered the ring at the 6th count, but Jericho took too long and although about to slide back in, he missed the ten count, and lost the match, in

Winner: Shawn Michaels

Jericho could not believe it, and for a moment neither could Michaels, who had his hand raised by the referee, but it was too good to be true, a fact made true by JBL's appareance at the top of the ramp.

JBL: Before all the idiots in the crowd start jumping up and down in joy as their 'hero' Shawn Michaels celebrates his victory, I have something to say. You see, unlike many of you, I am a brilliant businessman. When most of you have an dissident employee, you fire them. When most of you have an employee who becomes violent against you, you fire them. And when most of you have an employee go against your orders, you fire them. That's why when Shawn did all of those things, all of you failed entrepreneurs in the crowd believed he and I were no longer working together. Well you were wrong.

Instead of tear up the contract that tied Michaels to me, I decided to go a different route. And as your current employer, Shawn, I am placing you in another match with Jericho, with your Elimination Chamber spot on the line. And it starts now!

Caught off-guard, Michaels turned around into a Codebreaker from Jericho, who quickly covered him, and shouted at the ref to make the count who did so, although clearly still trying to get his head around what just happened.

Winner: Chris Jericho

As Jericho celebrates and walked up the ramp, JBL crossed his path and entered the ring, standing above the fallen HBK. He grabs him and helps him stand, staring with disgust at his limp body before nailing a vicious Clothesline From Hell and leaving the ring as Raw faded off the air.
