Default Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB

Damnnnnn, that was sweet. "and with that the last RAW of 2008 came to an end." That was cool.

Regal using his true dirty tactics to pick up the win over Marella. Think that a nice little fued might be brewing here, maybe also involving the ladies? That throws in a real nice element between these two, to keep the fued fresh.

CM Punk is a lucky man. If Regal ever did that to me, there would certainly be hell to pay. Punk needs to keep his eye on the prize though if he wants to walk out the #1 contender, hopefully it doesn't hurt his chances.

A girls match, face versus face. Never easy to pull off, but you kept it short which was good, and it served it's purpose as we are gonna get a #1 contender for the Women's Title. Hopefully we see Mickie get the push here.

I knew that something had to be up here. There's no way the JBL and Kane were gonna settle their differences tonight. Two big men that could produce a very nice fued in the future. JBL uses his typical cowardly tactics, maybe would have liked to see some attempt at a match, but as long as JBL gets the attack in, it was put together well.

Good to see Orton nurturing the young talent. Rhodes and Manu seems like a weird combo, and Orton running a group this earlier is a little odd, and it will take some time to get used to, but if you can pull it off, kudos.

Nice little mini Rumble, some important guys, some not. Confused as to why Cena was in there, as he won't be taking a part of the Rumble, but I guess he was there for name value. Surprising to see Cody Rhodes get to face Cena at the end, maybe we'll see a nice Rumble run out of him, as that one unexpected guys always gets a nice run, hopefully it's Rhodes.

Honestly have not the slight clue who the man is on the promo. That's a good thing though as it should be a big time surprise when it comes time for him to debut. Hopefully, it's a big name wrestler that might be going for Cena.

Collasal main event. Tons of star power here, not really in favor of a ton of finishers at the beginning, maybe some more basic moves would have made in believeable. Once the interference starts, it becomes a little hard to follow. Not really in favor of Steph ruling for a rematch next week, minus Orton? Poor Orton, didn't really seem fair, but if you have other plans for him, I can see you point. Hopefully, Punk pulls it out, as Cena/Punk at the Rumble would be good.

Overall, liked it. 7.5/10. Thought the last line was quite good, pleasure reading.

Default Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB

Raw feedback

-Steph announces some pretty good matches to end 2008. 10-man over-the-top-rope battle royal should be good.

-Marella vs. Regal would essentially be a comedy match, what Santino match isn't? Even though it's heel versus heel, it would still work. The right man went over too. Decent enough.

-lol, this women's thing is a bit confusing but I think I understand now. Would've preferred Melina going at it, but then again, Kelly Kelly needs a bit of a push, she is the future I guess. Natalya versus Beth or Mickie versus Beth will be good matches. Hopefully Natala, although I wouldn't rule out Kelly x2.

-So I guess you've fully turned Kane face then. Meh, I prefer him as a heel personally. When he's a face he ends up jobbing and looking like a bit of a loser, and you did the same here. Kane's supposed to be more of a monster-type character, but you had him get beaten up by JBL. Didn't like it. Hopefully you're going somewhere with this feud though.

-Good recap of the mini-Rumble here. I like Orton putting pressure on Rhodes and Manu too. I do hope you're not having Sim Snuka in the Legacy though; he reminds me of Braden Walker tbh. Cody Rhodes was given a decent rub in this match, and you kept a strong champion in the process which is obviously important. Rhodes' push is up and going it looks like. Batista should've stayed in a bit longer though probably. Regardless, good match, fans would've loved it. I'm not too keen on Rhodes' new finisher though, Manu's is good. Priceless Facebuster... meh, I don't know, maybe it'll grow on me.

-Now unless you're planning on pulling a Russo-esque swerve, I guess The Rock is coming back. I'm not his biggest fan, and realism is essentially out of the window, but at WrestleMania time, which you're approaching, you need a good draw, and you've certainly got one, if you're planning on him having a 'Mania match. However, I'd be disappointed if he ended up winning the Rumble or the title. That's just me.

-A good highlight package of the main event here. Punk instead of JBL is a good move. lol - how many interferences? Well fair enough, it wasn't a pay-per-view match. I'm not sure I really like the Orton/Finlay feud, but, having Rhodes and Manu helping him out in a big-ish feud helps them get some heat of their own, plus attacking Hornswoggle. This is a WCW or TNA match, which had an anti-climatic ending with the no contest. Frustrating, but, of course, you've got me interested in what's going to happen next week, so mission accomplished I guess.

OVERALL: I'm interested in what's going to happen next week, and at the Rumble, so you've obviously done a good job in hyping the PPV and the feuds. I'm interested to see who will be named the number one contender, and if and when The Rock will debut. The Rumble most likely. The JBL/Kane feud and Orton/Finlay feud aren't that interesting, but I'll see what happens. I think it might be leading to more of a Stephanie/Legacy feud. Could be wrong. Anyway, good show for what it was, the spelling and grammar was perfect, the presentation was good too, the match quality was pretty good with the battle royal and the main event, realism was out the window with The Rock's return, but realism isn't essential.

Prods Raw Feedback

- Nice start to the show with Stephanie announcing some good matches

- Santino v Regal: ahd a good ending and good to see both Beth and Layla having involvemant.

- I think you might have a good idea here but its a bit confusing. When a tag win do they both face Beth for the title?

- JBL v Kane, it was realistic for JBL to somehow get out of the match and do something dirty, nice work.

- Good speech from orton

- The rumble was best thing of the show so afr and i was glad to see Cody doing so well in it, his new finisher seems good aswell, it was only right that Cena won though.

- the return poster is cool, i wonder who it will be.

- The main event was good overall altough i didnt like so many people getting involved. Its funny that Orton isnt allowed in the match next week aswel.

Overall it was a good show considering the method you are using, you are improving with every show

ECW Preview (December 30th)

It's Extreme time on ECW! Tommy Dreamer's request for the show to go back to its roots was met with rejection from Teddy Long, but the board of directors went over his head, and to usher in the new era, 12 wrestlers will complete in stipulation matches tonight to determine which 6 wrestlers will vie to become the Number 1 Contender for Matt Hardy's Title next week.

The following matches will take place tonight:

- Finlay vs John Morrison
- The Miz vs Evan Bourne
- Jack Swagger vs DJ Gabriel
- Chavo Guerrero vs Ricky Ortiz
- Mark Henry vs Vladimir Kozlov
- Tommy Dreamer vs The Great Khali

Each match will be a stipulation match. These are the stipulation matches will take place tonight:

- ECW Extreme Rules Match
- Steel Cage Match
- Singapore Cane Match
- Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match
- Steel Chain Match
- Tables Match

Matt Hardy will be watching closely, hoping that the race for his title takes enough out of his future opponent so as to guarantee that he will retain the championship at the Royal Rumble. But he will be paying special attention to Kozlov's match, in fact, he will be commentating the Moscow Mauler's match. The two superstars having been attacking each other left and right in recent weeks, and it's their rivalry that brought Kozlov to the Tuesday Night brand. Will their animosity continue with Kozlov getting a chance to face the champ, or will he have to watch from the sidelines as another wrestler gets the shot?

Jack Swagger and Ricky Ortiz are anything but close friends. Two of Teddy Long's New Superstar Initiative greatest prospects have not been getting along recently, with the two reportedly involved in scuffles backstage. Swagger ended Ortiz's undefeated streak a few weeks ago, and water-cooler gossip suggests that the two are attempting to woo the same girl, Teddy Long's assistant, Tiffany.

Some folk are unsure whether Finlay will be focused in tonight's match. Randy Orton's attack on Hornswoggle last week has placed the Irishman's son in a critical state, and yesterday on Raw Finlay barely got revenge, being restrained by Orton's cohorts after attacking the Legend Killer during his match. Some aren't even sure that Finlay will bother showing up to the match, a fact which Morrison would be very happy with, were it true.

But the argument that is threatening to tear ECW apart, and shake it to its very core is the one between General Manager Teddy Long, and Old-schooler Tommy Dreamer. The Extremist has been anything but quiet about his disatisfaction with the way Long has been managing the show, and it was thanks to his speech that the WWE implemented all of its recent changes to Long's show. The GM has taken exception to Dreamer, and with The Great Khali on his corner, he is ready to make Dreamer wish he had never opened his mouth.

After the show, WWE.com will feature its first airing of a new online video segment involving one of ECW's own superstars.

(I normally post a show a day after the preview, but because I took longer than usual with the preview, and also because I have a lot of homework for the weekend, I'm posting it now)

Let's Get this Party Started

Tonight's special ECW, featuring its first time as a 2-hour show, began with Teddy Long along with his assistant Tiffany, announcing the night's matches. He then leaves the ring so the matches can begin. He also announces that later tonight, the first showing of a new WWE.com segment will be aired, and it features one of ECW's superstars.

Tables Match
Ricky Ortiz vs Chavo Guerrero

With both wrestlers hoping to become the future ECW champion, they both brought their best offense to the table. Chavo gained control early on, only for Ortiz to use a table to level the field. Ortiz placed Chavo on the table but before he could even consider how he would put the ex-ECW champion through it, Chavo countered, hitting his opponent with the Three Amigos, with the final suplex crashing Ortiz through the table, meaning that Chavo advances to the next stage.

The Strong Ties of U.S.A & U.K

The next match on the card featured dancing boy DJ Gabriel and the All-American American Jack Swagger, strapped together via steel chains, which allows only 3 feet of distance between the two at most.

Steel Chains Match
Jack Swagger vs DJ Gabriel

The match stipulation's inconvenience on both wrestlers showed in the early going, with neither man being able to capitalize on any advantage without getting tangled with the ropes, or unable to gain some distance. But it was Swagger who managed to take advantage first, deciding to not give DJ Gabriel even a moment to breath.

Swagger constantly attacked Gabriel, placing him in submission holds and targeting each and every one of his limbs. Gabriel finally managed to turn the match around, delivering the Gutbuster Drop after a succession of moves. Gabriel then climbed the turnbuckle, ready to strike with his finisher, but Swagger pulled on the steel chains, and with them wrapped tightly around Gabriel's waist, delivered his Gutwrench Powerbomb, getting the pin in the process.

After the match, Swagger received some boos for not using the weapon he had at hand in his match at all, with a chant building up saying "Dreamer's pissed!". Always one to please the crowd, Swagger picked up the chains steel dangling from his wrist and whipped Gabriel viciously across the back several times before leaving the ring, surprisingly enough, to wild cheers.

Can(e) You Come Out On Top?

The third match on the card featured The Miz taking on Evan Bourne in a Singapore Cane match. Several WWE officials carried two large trashcans filled with the weapon of choice, placing one beside the ramp, and another by the announce tables.

Singapore Cane Match
The Miz vs Evan Bourne

Neither wrestler resorted to weapons at the early going, with Miz focusing on grounding Bourne, while the latter attempted to get in some of his highflying offense and gain momentum. Finally, a dropkick sent The Miz flying over the top rope, and he fell to the outside, returning to the ring with a cane in his hand. Bourne managed to avoid the first few attacks, but The Miz finally hit home, and repeatedly battered the risk-taking superstar with the stick.

Bourne managed to get out of the ring and get his own weapon soon enough, returning in the ring where what could be described as amateur sword-fighting took place (involving a cool spot where Bourne springboarded himself behind Miz, caning him in the process.

It was finally Bourne who prevailed. After breaking cane after cane on one another, Bourne put the trashcan over The Miz's head, and dropped him to the floor, following up with a Shooting Star Press for the win.

Is That Another Loss?

Backstage, Tiffany consoled Ricky Ortiz over his loss in the locker room, telling him that he will soon get another opportunity. Swagger comes into the shot, saying that it didn't matter if Ortiz got another chance, because by that time he would be ECW champion, and there was no way that Ortiz could beat him. The two wrestlers got in each others' faces, but Tiffany separated them, standing between the two, telling Ortiz that he was in no condition to fight Swagger. The All-American American wasn't paying attention to what was coming out of Tiffany's mouth as she soothed Ortiz. He was enraptured by what was close to come out of her shirt, and took advantage of the height difference to stare down her top.

Ortiz, noticing this, lost his cool and pushed Tiffany aside, going in for an attack, but Swagger reacted quickly, and hit him in the stomach before delivering his gutwrench bomb. Clapping his hands together and smiling with satisfaction, Swagger went on his way, laughing to himself.

Tables and Ladders and Chairs, Oh My!

The next scheduled match pitted John Morrison against Finlay in a TLC match. However, before the match, a promo revealed that Finlay wasn't even in the building. It is currently unknown whether he had been attacked, or perhaps had attacked someone else, but for now, it meant that he was out of the picture, and John Morrison advanced without having to break a sweat. As the Tuesday Night Delight celebrated his effortless victory, Teddy Long came out, saying that they had advertised a TLC match, and they were going to put one on. Morrison’s face turned sour when Matt Hardy’s music played, and the one-on-one we missed last week was due to begin. Before the bell rang, Long added that if Morrison failed to win, he would lose his place in next week’s match.

It was a quick-paced match from the get-go, with both wrestlers showing off their skills. After some back-and-forth inside the ring, involving some high-lfying moves from both superstars, a superkick from Morrison sent Matt Hardy toppling over the rope, and the fight spread to the to the outside. Both wrestlers hit chair shots on one another, and Morrison attempted to finish Hardy off, setting up a table and picking up Hardy, building up to putting him through it. But Hardy escaped, and hit a sickening blow to Morrison’s head with the ladder. Hardy then entered the ring and started setting up the ladder, ready to retrieve the dangling ECW logo. But Morrison recuperated and knocked him off.

The match went on, with Morrison bringing in another ladder to the ring. After some good 10 minutes, The Shaman of Sexy seemed to have it won, after hitting Hardy with a vicious chairshot, he was inches away from the logo… KOZLOV! The Moscow Mauler rang to the ring, and on his way to attacking Hardy, knocked the ladder over, sending Morrison to the mat. An enraged Morrison turned the Russian around and hit the Moonlight Driver on him, causing his head to land on the same chair he had hit Hardy with. Unfortunately for him, Hardy had recuperated, and after rolling Kozlov out of the ring, the two returned to their match. It was now Hardy who gained the upper-hand. In what was surely the most spectacular moment of the match, with both wrestlers on one ladder near the ropes, Hardy hit the Side Effect off the ladder, landing on the TABLE MORRISON HAD SET UP OUTSIDE OF THE RING! Hardy climbed the ladder yet again, but by now Kozlov had come to, and he knocked him off the ladder, hitting him with the chair in the process, before heading out of the ring, satisfied with his work.

For a full minute both wrestlers were out, but Morrison was the first to get up, and he slowly climbed the ladder, and in a shocking turn of events, removed the logo, and won the match! Morrison has certainly earned his place in next week’s match with a spectacular match.

Extreme Conditions

Before the match pitting the man behind the recent transformations on ECW and ECW's newest superstar could start, Teddy Long had a word with Khali. He told him that if Khali scratched his back, he would scratch his in turn (pointing to a picture of the ECW title on the wall). The Great Khali proceeded to turn Teddy on the spot, and painfully scratch his back, before heading out to the ring.

Extreme Rules Match

Tommy Dreamer vs The Great Khali

Tommy Dreamer brought a few toys to the ring inside his shopping cart, and he planned to use them to get the win he couldn't get last week. Not even bothering to resort to actual wrestling, Dreamer went to the outside, with Khali behind him. Dreamer took out and hit Khali with a sledgehammer, a Singapore cane, a steel chain, a steel chair, brass knuckles and even the cart itself.

Khali, who had been caught completely off guard, promptly fell to the floor, but kicked out of the pin. Khali then dominated some of the match, which had now moved to the top of the ramp, and lifted Dreamer up with a double-hand chokeslam, and threw him into the cart, which skidded down the ramp and collided with the ring. By the time Khali got back to get the pin, Dreamer got the ace out of his sleeve, and pulled out a barbie (2x4 with barbed wire on one end)from beneath the ring. He proceeded to make Khali bleed like a stuffed pig, finally hitting him in the head to get the pin in what was a very short match.

Backstage, Teddy Long looked so furious that Tiffany could do nothing but back away slowly.

Later Tonight...

Remember to check out the newest online segment involving one of ECW's top stars... JACK SWAGGER!

Monsters in a Cage

The night's Main Event featured Vladimir Kozlov take on Mark Henry within the confines of a steel cage. This would be Kozlov's first ECW match, and although he couldn't get directly involved in the match, a bruised and exhausted Matt Hardy came to ringside to commentate, on the lookout for a chance to punish his aggressor not only for his earlier attack, but for all of his attacks in recent weeks.

Steel Cage Match
Mark Henry vs Vladimir Kozlov

Despite Kozlov’s participation in an earlier match, both giants traded tremendous blows in the ring, with neither one gaining a clear advantage. Mark Henry pressed Kozlov against the cage and bearhugged him, only for the Moscow Mauler to repeatedly headbutt him in the chest, and slam him against the steel.

At one point in the match, with Kozlov down, Tony Atlas threw a chair into the cage, Henry attacked Kozlov with the chair, and attempted to use it to make his World's Strongest Slam much more painful, but Kozlov escaped the hold, and used the chair too, nailing it time and time again Henry's forehead. By the time the two men had used it, the chair could barely be described as such.

Kozlov headed for the door, only to have it slam against him by Matt Hardy. It was now Henry's turn, but he was tripped by the downed Kozlov, and treated to a Uranage Chokeslam (which incidentally landed on the steel chair). Kozlov headed for the door again, but this time he was ready for Hardy, and as the officials only barely opened the door, he kicked it hard, making it swing violently and hit Hardy right in the face, sending him toppling backwards. Vladimir exited the cage, and won the match.

Kozlov attempted to leave quickly before Matt Hardy would get up, but Hardy’s determination was far too great, and he attacked Kozlov as the Russian walked up the ramp, finally hitting him with the Twist of Fate before the show finished.

Default Re: Diverging Paths - A Current WWE BTB

Okay I love it being 2 hours put the stipulation matches weren't really what ECW was about and you are just whoring the stipulations.

Opening Promo: Always a good idea to run through the matches.

Tables Match: Suplex through the table to end the match? Hmmm, not really amazing is it. still at least it was part of the three amigo's. Kudos on making Chavo advance though. He is under used by most and by the WWE for a while. Hope to see him a major player on ECW.

Chain Match: Both men are fairly green, so putting them in a chain match seems very odd and the weapon was never used and there were submissions to wear down an opponent in a chain match? wtf? Weak match right here. Thankfully the right person won.

Cane Match: I liked how they used weapons as the match progressed but the whole cane after cane thing, I could not imagine Borne doing that as he is a goody good guy. As cool as the ending was this was a cane match and the end spot used a trash can. Not impressed.

Gutwrench bomb on the floor, ooh nasty. Liked this promo and it seems we have a good feuding building.

TLC: Since you already had a tables match, I thought a ladder match here would suffice. Great move changing Finlay for Hardy, my only problem is now Hardy must win right? Nooo, Kozlov that damn bastard. Great match and I loved how you made the champ stay strong. My only problem is with the logic. If Hardy won what would have happened? MOTN easily.

Extreme Rules: Its about time Dreamer got a push. As much as I dislike Khali as a wrestler, you did bury him quite fast. Not much say here. Backstage thing after makes me feel that Teddy will quit and maybe Heyman return? Oh and good job in making Dreamer win. You should push him.

Main Event: Would be fun see Atlas try throwing a chair in the ring. I liked how Kozlov dominated and you made him look really strong, so I though the aftermath when Hardy hit him with the Twist of Fate was a bit dumb.

Overall: I felt that although your ideas are fun and the layout is well done, so it is a pleasure to read. You really do need to learn what works and what doesn't. I think the BTB'ing world is new to you, so each review will help you get better and better. So don't take this review as a knock, but more as way of helping you get better. There is a reason the WWE would never produce an ECW like this. Think about why that is

Thanks for the review, mate, now I'd like to address some of the stuff you said:

You're right. I overused the stipulations, but I'd like to make it clear that this show was a one-time thing. Although stipulation matches will be recurrent, you wo9n't see a show like this again. I was trying out a lot of these matches to see how I do writing them, once I have a PPV with stipulations, I want it to be perfect, so this test run was helpful.

Tables Match: Suplex through the table to end the match? Hmmm, not really amazing is it. still at least it was part of the three amigo's. Kudos on making Chavo advance though. He is under used by most and by the WWE for a while. Hope to see him a major player on ECW.
I really like Chavo, and I'll be trying to push him in the future. I initially wanted to end with a splash, but in the end I felt like the Three Amigos through the table could legitimately finish a match, so I went with that instead of the first idea. Mostly because otherwise, Chavo would seem like he won by a huge margin, and I wanted to seem like a closer match than that.

Chain Match: Both men are fairly green, so putting them in a chain match seems very odd and the weapon was never used and there were submissions to wear down an opponent in a chain match? wtf? Weak match right here. Thankfully the right person won.
I don't understand what a man being fairly green means, could you explain?

Cane Match: I liked how they used weapons as the match progressed but the whole cane after cane thing, I could not imagine Borne doing that as he is a goody good guy. As cool as the ending was this was a cane match and the end spot used a trash can. Not impressed.
That's quite true, I'm glad you pointed that out, because I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

MOTN easily
Sorry if that wasn't clear. Basically, the match was a qualification match, only that only Morrison could qualify. So if Hardy won, Morrison wouldn't be in the next match.

I went against making this match long because this is part of a feud, a long match here would take away from this feud's ending. I think Khali getting beaten quickly leaves their relationship tense, which is what I wanted.

Main Event: Would be fun see Atlas try throwing a chair in the ring. I liked how Kozlov dominated and you made him look really strong, so I though the aftermath when Hardy hit him with the Twist of Fate was a bit dumb.
I thought Kozlov was 'winning' too much so far. Hardy is the champion and being beaten down by Kozlov weak in weak out and never come out on top makes him seem weak, IMO, this way Kozlov comes out as a strong contender, but Matt continues being the man to beat.

Think about why that is
Cheers mate. Thanks again for the review. I think ECW is currently the weakest show, so I'm trying to improve it as much as possible. Obviously some ideas will fall flat, but reviews like these will help me realise what these are. So thanks.

The WWE.com segment will be up later today.

Green mans "new". Does that make sense? Wrestlers who have just been brought up to the main roster. I hope that helps

I really like how you used this to experiment .
