Re: PatMan Presents: WWE 2006 Revisited
Raw Review
Solid opening promo from Edge, sounding much like he did in reality when he first one the title; cocky, conceited, but very much in control of the situation because he has the skill to back it up. Hunter was good, too, but Edge’s rebuttal was off a bit. Him telling Hunter to ‘shut up or else’ didn’t really fit his character, since he’d more than likely respond with a smartass comment rather than a threat. Coach also wouldn’t tell Hunter to shut up, especially with H not that long removed from a heel run. The main event tonight seems set up for an Edge-H title match at Backlash. Nice start.
Naitch owns Striker (whom I enjoy in the loudmouth jobber role), and then announces plans to go after the belt? 17 plz.
Nice, short promo from Angle, getting across the main point of the promo - the fact that he was not pinned in last night’s title match. RVD is taking quite a bit of a verbal beating here tonight though, first from Edge, now from Angle, I hope he gets a chance to rebut shortly enough.
As seems to be a prerequisite in WWE threads with the Spirit Squad, it seems that Kenny will soon be breaking away from the SS, or at least, establishing himself as a more serious member than the rest. He’s clearly the most talented of the bunch, so it’s definitely a solid move. Same goes for a clean win over Eugene. (Y)
Edge planning to stay out of the way? Smart champion. Me likes.
A lot of the segments have been pretty short tonight. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I do notice it. Unless this develops into something further, it seems to be just a way to show the slightly differing personalities of the WGTT, with Benji as the enthusiastic one, while Haas is more ‘business’.
I like Carlito and Masters as a tandem in this situation. They’re potential goofy/doofus appeal is a nice contrast to the srs bsns style of the World’s Greatest Tag Team. Eight and a half minutes sounds just about right for Haas and Carly, and it’s no real shocker to see ‘Lito steal the win. I expect these two teams to match up at Backlash, either two on two, or in a triple threat also involving Show and Kane. Hopefully, it’s the former, because it would be different (in a good way) to see two tag matches at a PPV involving actual tandems.
Pretty generic promo from Helms, but he hasn’t had an opportunity to develop as a character yet. I expect much better ones in the future for young Gregory.
Heel Cena = Ratings. Strong promo from The Doctor, and both he and Michaels were completely in character throughout. I liked that neither man is afraid of the other, want to face each other once more, while Michaels, being the elder statesman is also acutely aware of history and legacies and rivalries and things of the sort. Kudos on treating this match like the big deal that it would be and should have been. Cena’s the biggest around today while HBK isn’t a slouch himself in the name value department. Michaels not being afraid of Cena’s threat was a nice touch, too.
Seems to me that Chavito is gonna be on the receiving end of a push. I don’t care much for Guerrero as a bland face, but I’m willing to give it a better than decent shot of working. He’ll be thrown into IC Title contention soon enough.
Lito and Masters confirm my earlier suspicions and it looks like we’ll be treated to Masters and Carly in the title hunt. Another really short segment, btw.
Mickie OWNS; Torrie doesn’t. Simple stuff. Long reign plz. Pretty generic promo from Stratus, which shouldn’t happen because she’s got quite a bit of charisma, and you should’ve capitalized not only on the long history and build up of the feud, but on the way the match last night panned out. Only real missed opportunity on the show.
That Kane/Show promo = Weird . that’s all I’ll say until next week.
I'm hoping that the Triple H injury isn't enough to take him out of any potential title match he had coming it. Anyway, Van Dam gets the win over Angle, and that should effectively take him out of the title hunt, but who knows? Lots of things to decide for next week, as the number one contender needs to be decided, AND we've got several strong contenders lined up. Strong main event.
Quite the first show, PatMan, about where I expected with notable improvement since your last show (which was in recap form). I enjoyed everything outside of the Women's Title situation, which I thought could've been better. Keep it up.

Re: PatMan Presents: WWE 2006 Revisited

Friday Night Smackdown!; April 7th, 2006; Peoria, Illinois
After the Smackdown side of the WrestleMania 22 video package, Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us to the show. They talk about how great WM22 was before focusing on the main event for tonight, the NEW World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton, teaming with Booker T to take on Batista and the NEW United States Champion, Matt Hardy.
***Burn In My Light*** The crowd responds with a big initial pop before the reaction changes to a mix, with the fans split about how to feel about Randy Orton. Orton emerges from behind the curtain, dressed in jeans, a ‘Legend Killer’ t-shirt, and a black sport coat, the World Heavyweight Championship perched on his shoulder.
Michael Cole: Just five days ago, Randy Orton defeated ‘The Animal’ Batista in the middle of the ring, ending the one-year title reign of Batista. Orton is not one of my favorite guys but I have to give him his props, he was the better man Sunday night.
Tazz: Orton did exactly what he said he was going to do; he became the World Heavyweight Champion. His first reign didn’t even last one month but this is a different Randy Orton. He is more mature, more developed, and more focused on being the best.
Orton’s golden shower goes down behind him, as he raises the title belt high in the air. Orton arrogantly walks down the ramp, stepping into the ring and heading to the top rope, doing the ‘Destiny’ pose to some heat. Orton drops down and grabs a mic from Tony Chimmel.
Randy Orton: Ladies and gentlemen … get a look … at greatness!
Mixed reaction from the crowd, with Orton smiling arrogantly.
Randy Orton: Just one year and eight months ago, I was here, in the middle of the ring, the World Heavyweight Championship over my shoulder, standing before you are the youngest World Champion in HISTORY.
Another mixed reaction from the crowd, with Orton building himself up from the start.
Randy Orton: I was only twenty-four years old yet I was on top of the wrestling world. I thought that winning World Championships was easy … but then I lost after only four weeks … to Triple H.
A mixed reaction for The Game, with Orton not looking very happy.
Randy Orton: I was the victim of my own success. I became World Heavyweight Champion and Triple H could not stand seeing someone that he taught, someone who supposed to be learning from him … holding the one thing that he that he was always focused on winning, the one thing that he would ANYTHING to have around his waist. So Triple H used everyone he had wrapped around his finger, and he cheated me out of the World Title I worked so hard to win.
Another mixed reaction, with Orton taking a moment to catch his breath.
Randy Orton: I made a decision after that loss … I decided that I would not rest until I became World Champion again. I hit a few bumps in the road but I was able to deliver on my promise. I was able to fulfill my destiny for the second time, beating Batista to become THE man on Smackdown.
Heat from the fans, with Orton smiling arrogantly again.
Randy Orton: The almighty ‘Animal’ of Smackdown had beaten everyone that stepped in his way. From Triple H to JBL … Eddie Guerrero to Mark Henry. Batista worked his way to the top and he stayed there for a whole calendar year. Good job Dave … too bad you’re not the best anymore.
More heat from the crowd.
Randy Orton: In fact Dave, you were NEVER the best in the WWE. I have always been the best that this business has to offer. I am the guy that people buy tickets to see. I am the guy that should be at the top of the card because no one wants to go on after my match. I am the Legend Killer and I am the guy who is holding the World Heavyweight Championship you held for so long.
More heat as Orton holds up the World Title.
Randy Orton: You were never the best, Dave … you were lucky. You were lucky because in the entire year you held that belt, you never ONCE pinned me with the World Title on the line. You hurt my shoulder a year ago on Raw. You got lucky that the Undertaker distracted me for over five months. You got lucky that I didn’t cash my title shot in at No Way Out. But your luck ran out Dave … five days ago … right here in Illinois.
Cheap pop for the mention of the state but Orton looks a little taken aback.
Randy Orton: Relax; I won this belt in Chicago, not the dump of a city that you people call home.
More heat from the Peoria fans as Orton smirks.
Randy Orton: You are no longer the top of the food chain Dave. You are not the guy that people will be afraid to look in the eye backstage. You are no longer the man that everyone is gunning for … I AM!
More boos from the crowd, with Orton not paying it any attention.
Randy Orton: That’s right, I am at the pinnacle of sports entertainment. If anyone in the back wants to reach the top … they will need to go through me! So I don’t care if it’s Booker T…
Heat from the fans.
Randy Orton: Rey Mysterio…
Pop from the fans.
Randy Orton: John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield…
MASSIVE heat from the fans, JBL is just hated that way I guess.
Randy Orton: Matt Hardy…
Big pop for the new United States Champion.
Randy Orton: Or even The Undertaker…
Biggest pop of the night from the fans in Peoria.
Randy Orton: Anyone in the back can say that they are going to end my reign just like Triple H did my first one. Anyone can say that they are better than be and they will prove it in the ring. But what everyone in the back … (points around the arena) and every one of you people know … is that I am the best. I am the World Heavyweight Champion! And for the second time we are dawning on a new day. But the second time will be MUCH longer than the first. We are living in the Randy … Orton … Era.
Heat from the fans as Orton looks at the World Title.
Randy Orton: And it has only just begun.
Heat from the crowd as Orton drops the mic in the center of the ring, walking over to the corner, climbing the turnbuckle, and holding the World Heavyweight Championship high in the air. Orton looks around the arena, basking in his glory, only to be interrupted by…
***I Walk Alone*** The crowd and Orton turn their attention to the entrance ramp, where the FORMER World Heavyweight Champion, ‘The Animal’ Batista, makes his way onto the stage. Batista has on shades, black pants and a muscle shirt, not looking nearly as dressed up as Orton. Batista locks eyes with Randy and makes his way to the ring, stepping between the ropes, mic already in hand.
Batista: The Randy Orton Era, huh? That’s pretty funny … I am pretty sure that you’re second World Title reign has already lasted longer than a your first.
A few laughs from the crowd, even though Orton has already talked about his first, short World Title reign.
Batista: You must think that you are the greatest wrestler in the history of this company. Winning a World Title and holding onto it for an entire five days. That’s impressive Randy, it really is. But seriously don’t get too far ahead of yourself; you probably won’t be holding that title for every long.
Randy Orton: What makes you so damn sure of yourself!? I have already beaten you once, something no one’s been able to do for over a year!
Heat from the crowd.
Batista: Shut your damn mouth while I’m talking or I will break you in half right now!
Pop from the crowd as Batista takes off his shades.
Batista: I know that because I held that belt for three hundred and sixty-five days. I was the most dominant champion in the past decade. You get one little fluke win and you think that you are the man on this show? That’s where you’re wrong Randy. I will always be the man on Smackdown!
Big pop from the crowd, with a small ‘BA-TIS-TA’ chant starting.
Batista: Y’see, I’m not stupid. I made sure that the contract had a guaranteed rematch in there if you just happened to win the belt. Yeah, I am gonna be cashing that in sooner than you think.
Another pop for the prospect of Batista vs. Orton II.
Batista: The next Smackdown pay-per-view is Judgment Day … but that’s almost two months away. I wanna make you’re second World Title reign is shorter than your first.
Another pop, with Orton starting to get angry now.
Batista: If I had it my way, I would have probably already beaten you because that rematch would have kicked off the show tonight. But Teddy already made the main event so I’ve decided to wait. So you have a few more weeks, Randy, but don’t get too comfortable, because I will have that belt back soon.
Cheers from the crowd, with Orton taking a step towards Batista.
Batista: And that’s a promise.
Batista drops the mic and Orton raises the World Heavyweight Championship, showing The Animal that he won’t be intimidated. The two share a staredown before ***I Walk Alone*** plays again and Batista backs away from Orton. Batista drops down off the apron and backpedals up the ramp, motioning that the belt will be around his waist again. Orton looks on, stone-faced, not showing any fear, as we fade out.
{Commercial Break}
We kick off the in-ring action with a very big match, as William Regal takes on … THE UNDERTAKER! The Deadman is able to continue his roll after beating Mark Henry in a Casket match at WM22, dominating Regal for the majority of the contest. But the skilled veteran doesn’t go down easily, actually having the advantage with some submissions in the middle portion of the match. Eventually, The Undertaker is able to control the match again, running through Regal with most of the moves in his arsenal, gaining numerous near falls. Ffinally, Undertaker quickens the pace even more, finishing the Englishman off with a Tombstone Piledriver to get the pinfall at 10:32.
After the match, The Undertaker goes through the motions, with rolling Regal out of the ring, before the blue light is cast over the arena, and The Phenom is on one knee in the center of the ring. Cole and Tazz hype up The Undertaker, stating that he is probably one of the first to want a shot at Randy Orton’s World Heavyweight Championship.
Backstage, we cut to the locker room, where Booker T and Sharmell are talking. Booker is telling Sharmell that Matt Hardy’s win at WM22 was a fluke and he will never beat Booker again. Sharmell agrees and says that Hardy’s first run with the United States Championship won’t last very long. Booker says that he is more experienced, more talented, and smarter than Hardy and he always has a plan. Sharmell tells her husband that after he and Randy Orton destroy Hardy and Batista tonight, Matt will be in no condition to defend the United States Championship. Booker closes by saying that is perfect … because he will get his guaranteed rematch for the United States Championship next week.
{Commercial Break}
Inside of their personal locker room, John Bradshaw Layfield and the rest of The Cabinet are not in a very good mood. JBL yells at everyone, including Jillian, for his loss at WM22 to Rey Mysterio, even though The Cabinet was banned from ringside. The former WWE Champion says that Rey is nothing more than a Mexican jumping bean and there is no reason that he should have won against a Wrestling God. JBL says that he plans on getting his revenge, by beating Rey the next time the two are in the ring together. In the meantime, JBL tells Orlando that he will be facing Rey tonight … and he better get the job done … alone.
Our second match of the night features some very talented cruiserweights, with the CW Champion Jamie Noble teaming with Scotty 2 Hotty to take on Kid Kash and Nunzio. Much to the surprise of some, Noble and Kash don’t get all the time in the ring, as Scotty and Nunzio actually have superb stretches of their own. Noble and Scotty eventually take the match over, using quick tags to isolate Nunzio while Kash is forced to watch on the apron. Kash tries numerous times to tag Nunzio but after many failed attempts, the Notorious K.I.D. gets into the ring and takes a swing at Noble … only for the Champ to duck and Kash hits Nunzio! Scotty grabs Kash and throws him over the top while Noble drops Nunzio with a Brain Buster, getting the three count at 8:21.
After the victory, Noble gets his belt from the official before the referee raises the victors’ hands. Kash retreats up the ramp, yelling at Noble to face him like a man, not in a tag team match.
Backstage, Joey Mercury, Johnny Nitro, and Melina, the WWE Tag Team Champions, MNM, are talking. Melina tells the champs that they truly are the best team in the WWE, and they proved it by beating THREE teams at WM22 to keep the gold around their gorgeous waists. Nitro chimes in and says that it seems like The Hooligans can’t made the match. Nitro tells Mercury not to worry because if by some chance he can’t beat London, Johnny and Melina will make sure the Hooligans don’t get the upper hand. Mercury smiles and the trio walk down the hall, ready for the match.
{Commercial Break}
Raw Rebound
~ Promo between Edge and Triple H, and Coach makes the main event.
~ Ric Flair beats Matt Striker and then guarantees that we will see World Title number seventeen soon enough.
~ John Cena and Shawn Michaels agree to meet again one on one … at Backlash.
~ Mickie beats Torrie before Trish comes out and tells Mickie that the WM22 rematch has been made for next week.
~ After Triple H hurts his wrist, Rob Van Dam pins Kurt Angle to get the victory for him and The Game in the main event.
In our third match, Joey Mercury takes on Paul London. Nitro and Melina are at ringside in support of Mercury while Kendrick is out to back up London. Even though Nitro is thought to have the more promising future, Joey Mercury is able to show off his impressive talent in a very good singles match. London is able to hold his own and there is very little action early by the three at ringside, except for the annoying screams from Melina. Although not as good as Taker/Regal, this is a strong contender for match of the night, as the two have a great mix of styles throughout, with very little lag time in the ring. In the end, Mercury makes one mistake while he has the advantage, charging at the corner, only for London to dodge the shot. London wastes no time and grabs Mercury’s head … nailing a springboard tornado DDT! London goes to the top, looking for the 450 Splash but … Melina pulls Mercury out of the way! London hits the canvas hard and the two are down while Kendrick takes exception to Melina’s actions, going after Nitro. Mercury is the first one back to his feet and he lifts London back to his feet, setting Paul up for a suplex … but London counters into a small package for a surprise three count at 11:14.
Before Mercury can even comprehend what just happened, London slides out of the ring and joins Kendrick on the way up the ramp. Nitro and Melina roll into the ring and try to talk to Mercury but Joey is not happy, as the Hooligans got one over on the tag team champions tonight.
{Commercial Break}
Back from the break, we cut backstage where Steve Romero is standing by with Rey Mysterio. Romero asks about Rey’s night at WM22 and Mysterio responds by saying that his victory against JBL was one of the biggest of his career. He says that the entire world saw that JBL is not so tough when the Cabinet is not at ringside to bail him out. Rey talks about his next move after his big win at WM22, stating that he would love a shot at Randy Orton and the World Heavyweight Championship after this whole thing with JBL is over. In closing, Rey tells JBL that he is not a little Mexican jumping bean … he is the Human Highlight Reel and Orlando Jordan will end up just like JBL … he will be beaten courtesy of the 6…1…9!
Back in the arena, the crowd bursts into a mixed reaction as KEN KENNEDY makes his way to the ring. Kennedy yells at some fans on the way down the ramp, looking clearly agitated about not winning the MITB match at WM22, after promising numerous times to do so. Kennedy steps into the ring and glares at Tony Chimmel before he reaches up and the old school mic falls into his hand, with KK ready to address the crowd.
Immediately, Kennedy tells the crowd to shut up and he says that the people in Illinois aren’t nearly as smart as the geniuses in Wisconsin, mocking the Bulls, Bears, and Cubs, gaining some huge heat. KK says that there was a reason that he needed to come out here and that has to do with what happened in the MITB match at WM22.
KK says that he guaranteed victory not because he was arrogant; it was because he knows that he is great. Kennedy says that Ric Flair winning the match was a joke and claims that Naitch was merely in the right place at the right time. KK says that he doesn’t need a guaranteed title match to become a World Champion; he will win the World Title without a being an opportunist. Kennedy says that Flair will just waste the MITB shot because there is no way a fifty-something year old will be able to hold the World Title for more than a few days.
With the heat pouring on with each word Kennedy says, the crowd tries to drown out the loudmouth but KK is able to remain calm. Kennedy guarantees that he now be a man of action, making his opportunities instead of waiting for them. He says that everyone in the back better buckle up … because the most popular show on Friday nights is about to have a new main attraction … MISTER KENNEDY … KEN-NA-DAY!!!
Kennedy lets the mic rise back up to the rafters as the crowd continues to boo. Cole and Tazz discuss Kennedy’s words, wondering what he means by ‘making his own opportunities.’ We get one last shot of Kennedy, not in a joking mood, before we fade to commercial.
{Commercial Break}
Our fourth match of the night has Rey Mysterio taking on ‘The Chief of Staff’ Orlando Jordan. Even though he is an impressive striker and a former United States Champion, the absence of the rest of the Cabinet at ringside really puts Orlando at a disadvantage. Jordan is able to get some shots in early, using his quick right jabs and other strikes to keep Mysterio off balance but Rey’s quickness and determination take over as he steamrolls Orlando. Rey Rey takes it to Orlando, using numerous cruiserweight moves to keep Jordan on the defensive but the offense is too much for Orlando, as Rey closes the match by hitting the 619 and then the Drop of Da’ Dime for the three count at 7:25.
After the match, Rey has his hand raised by the referee, beating JBL’s right hand man five days after beating JBL at WM22. Rey’s celebration is rudely interrupted as ***Longhorn*** plays around the arena and John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield steps out onto the stage. JBL says that Orlando couldn’t get the job done tonight, but he never really expected that Jordan would get the win. Bradshaw states that Rey is a good wrestler but right now, he is just running on luck and eventually, all luck runs out. JBL says that he has already talked to Teddy Long … and next week we will see JBL vs. Rey, with the Cabinet once again barred from ringside.
The crowd pops and JBL closes by saying that Rey’s win at WM22 was a fluke, and he will prove to the world why he is a Wrestling God. JBL gains some more heat but he just simply walks back through the curtain, while Cole and Tazz discuss the match for next week.
Backstage, we see ‘The Legend Killer’ and World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton lacing up his boots, getting ready for the main event. The crowd lets out some boos as Booker T and Sharmell enter the picture, with Booker telling Randy Orton that they need a victory tonight. Booker calls both Matt Hardy and Batista jokes, and claims that they don’t deserve to be in the same match as him and Orton. Randy tells Booker that he doesn’t need to worry about anything, because he wants to show the world that his win at WM22 was not a one-time thing. Booker just nods, telling Orton that he is glad to hear that he is ready. Booker and Sharmell leave the room, with Orton watching them before turning his head and staring at the World Heavyweight Championship, as we cut to a commercial.
{Commercial Break}
Back from break, Kid Kash bursts into the office of Smackdown! GM Teddy Long. Kash gets right to the point and tells T-Lo that he doesn’t want to be facing Jamie Noble in tag team matches, he wants a shot at the CW Championship. Kash tells Teddy that there is no other cruiserweight better than him on the roster and he demands a title shot. Teddy tells Kash that he doesn’t just hand out title shots, he makes people earn them. Kash looks annoyed as Teddy tells him to win some matches instead of just complaining, and then maybe he will think about giving him a title match. Kash looks very mad as he storms out of Teddy’s office.
In our fifth match, the tough Irishman, Finlay, takes on the new fan favorite Vito. Vito has the strength advantage but Finlay doesn’t let that come into play, as he uses his technical ability to keep Vito grounded. Bar a few shots to the body of Finlay, Vito is not able to mount much of a comeback, with Finlay dominating throughout and in the end, showing some impressive strength of his own, dropping Vito with the Celtic Cross for the pinfall at 6:42.
After the match, Finlay doesn’t let the referee raise his hand, but instead grabs his shillelagh and lays a few shots into the already beaten body of Finlay, only stopping when the referee threatens to reverse the decision. Finlay backs off and steps through the ropes, angrily walking up the ramp while Vito is still writhing in pain in the ring.
Back at ringside, Cole and Tazz talk about the confirmed matches for next week’s show, including a newly signed match up between Johnny Nitro and Brian Kendrick, along with the United States Championship match between Booker T and Matt Hardy, as well as another WM22 rematch, with JBL facing Rey Mysterio.
Backstage, Kristal is standing by with the NEW United States Champion, Matt Hardy. Usually very subtle on the mic, Matt actually shows some charisma as he talks about winning the US Championship at WM22. Matt says that he has been waiting to hold the belt for a very long time and now the he has it, he doesn’t plan on losing it anytime soon. In response to Booker T’s comments earlier, Hardy says that his win was no fluke and tonight will be a preview of what to expect in the rematch next week. Matt closes by telling Booker that whatever he has planned for tonight, it won’t make a difference because Matt Hardy DOES NOT DIE!!! Matt walks off, as Cole and Tazz hype up our main event … which is next!
{Commercial Break}
After all four men make their way to the ring; we are ready for a huge tag team main event. Some trash talking takes place, before Booker T and Matt Hardy are the two who get the match going. The four put on a short, albeit decent match as the two storylines heading into the match are played out, with Batista looking very hungry to get a piece of Orton but TLK plays it smart, not allowing Batista to get many shots in. At about the eight-minute mark, Orton and Booker are able to isolate Hardy for a short time, with constant tags in and out to hold the advantage and not allow Matt to get a tag to Batista, who is very eager to get back into the ring.
After a lengthy isolation, Matt is finally able to tag Batista and BUSINESS HAS PICKED UP~! Batista goes through both Orton and Booker, before laying the beat down on Booker. The end of the match comes after a very physical back and forth session between Booker and Batista and Batista nails the spine buster but doesn’t make the cover. Batista makes the tag to Matt and Hardy waits for Booker to reach a vertical base … before he nails the Twist of Fate! Matt doesn’t go for the cover either as he tags back out to Batista … who comes in and puts the finishing touches on Booker … NAILING THE BATISTA BOMB! Batista hooks the leg as Hardy gets in the ring to intimidate Orton but the World Heavyweight Champion lets his partner take the bullet, as Orton drops down off the apron as Batista gets the pinfall at 12:29.
Batista and Hardy get the victory, even though Orton didn’t seem too interested during his first Smackdown! as the World Heavyweight Champion. Orton grabs his title and heads up the ramp, drawing many boos from the crowd. Back in the ring, Batista hands Matt his US Championship and the two embrace, with Cole and Tazz talking about the great main event, before they wish us all a good night and the show fades out.
END OF SHOW

Re: PatMan Presents: WWE 2006 Revisited
April 7th Smackdown Feedback!
Opening Promo was incredibly intense and very well written, sound just like Orton. The cocky heel is such a great gimmick and this promo really got that across. Bringing Batista into the mix was great and you really delievered with this promo, especially Batista, these two really could have a great feud if you can book it properly which i am sure you will. Both guys looked strong and i really did genuinely enjoy that promo a lot.
Undertaker smashing Regal was interesting. i liked how you didnt just let him do the job and put in he had control in the middle of the match. A good move aswell using someone like Regal instead of a cruiserweight. I hope The Undertaker can be pushed into the title hunt shortly.
JBL speech was good, especially the "Mexican jumping bean" Not much else to say really but a nice little filler promo.
Good to see Noble get a strong win and i am pleased Kid Kash is in the hunt for the belt. He was always a talented cruiser in the WWE.
London/Mercury was the best match so far. Some great action and good to see London get the win. Hopefully a great feud can develop between these two teams like i know it can.
Kennedy promo matches the opening promo. Very intense and realistic. I know he is a heel but i dont think he should have put Flair down so much, just a little thing but i just feel Flair should have momentum instead of being called a joke by someone who is potentially a future champion. Despite that it was enjoyable and it was good incorporating chicago sports teams into it which was realistic and effective.
Rey Mysterio Match was good, although short obviously the main focus was on the promo after which delivered. I am intrigued to see how you book the match, i would like to see Rey get another clean win but then i am not sure how you will book so and interesting concept shaping up there.
Cant say much about the Kash promo or Finlay win although it was nice to see Finlay look dominant, maybe A US Title run is in the works?
And finally the main event was the best match of the night. i especially liked how Orton wasnt shown as weak letting Booker get destroyed by Batista and Hardy. Good to see Matt's title reign get off to a positive start and showing Batista as a powerful contender is always a good booking move.
Overall this was a fantastic show and i will gladly be reading future shows that you post. No real issues just the one that was stated above and this was my first time reading your work actually and i am very impressed so keep up the good work and i look forward to seeing what kind of things you have going on Raw.

Re: PatMan Presents: WWE 2006 Revisited
SD! Review:
Opening Promo: Great opening, established Orton as arrogant and cocky, but not cowardly. It's nice that you pointed out that he only held the WHC for only 4 weeks, since in reality WWE has a habit of forgetting stuff like that. While I'm not too happy that Batista held that title for a year, I'm glad this BTB didn't start with him as champion. Batista also was nicely in character, everything was worded really well.
Regal/Undertaker: Quite honestly, it seems weird to me that an Undertaker match isn't the main event, even more so when his match is the opener. If you're trying to push Regal, you did a good job here in letting him control the match with submission moves, something you don't see too often in a 'Taker match.
Booker Segment: Man, I totally miss Booker in WWE, shame that he left the way he did. Anyway, I'm hoping you have big plans for this man, and a US Title feud is only the beginning.
JBL Segment: I never really liked JBL as a wrestler, but his segment back here was him. Blaming others and refusing to help them, classic JBL. Maybe The Cabinet won't stand for it?
CW Tag Match: Cruiserweight Title? Big mistake in letting that go, WWE. I don't remember if Noble was a face during this time, but I know he can put on a hell of a match, so when he goes up against Kash, I'll be looking forward to that.
Mercury/London: A nice backstage segment beforehand, but the match was better. Great use of both sides, and hopefully you'll book their feud better than WWE did (constantly jobbing MNM out did them no favors in the cred dept.).
Rey Interview: I really like this interview. Everything was there, and it came off really well. I'd love to see Rey in a WHC feud without getting squashed weekly.
Kennedy Promo: Another good promo. I don't agree that Kennedy should've won MITB, but I do agree with him that Flair shoudln't have won it. Since Flair started wrestling again in the WWE sometime in the 2000's, I could never see him as an actual contender for a World Title. I hope you've got serious plans with that, but I digress. I've got a good feeling on Kennedy in this BTB, don't let me down.
Rey/Jordan: I could never see what was so special about Orlando. He was always boring for me, and looking back, WWE should've used someone else to take his spot in The Cabinet. The match was okay, but overshadowed by what it was setting up.
Orton Segment: Not much to say about this, except it was a good plug-in for the main event and their fueds.
Kash Segment: My favorite thing about face GM's is that it's nice to see them mess with heels, sometimes really funny as well, like Teddy and MVP (who doesn't exist in this thread, but he should).
Finlay/Vito: The dress gimmick just completely ruined Vito for me, so it's hard to take him serious. Hornswoggle is currently doing the same for Finlay, so it's good that he's still heel, and that the Little Bastard wasn't seen here.
Matt Interview: I'm loving Matt as US Champion, even though I've yet to see how you use him. I'm just a big Hadys mark. Use him well, please.
Main Event: It took me a moment to figure out what TLK stood for. A great main event, the finish was nice with the 3 consecutive finishers (which I didn't like, being applied to Booker and all), and Orton leaving. A great way to end the show.
Overall: This is the first show of yours I've read, but I'd heard good things about your BTB'ing, and it wasn't a letdown. Doors were opened, and they appear to be leading to good things. 2006 was a great year to redo, so many good things could've happened, but they didn't, so fingers are crossed at them taking place here. Good luck, I'll be reading. 8/10.

Re: PatMan Presents: WWE 2006 Revisited
Expected a few more review for SD but recapped shows get less reviews, imo. Thanks to everyone who reviewed the first two shows ... very much appreciated. Now onto some new stuff.

Early reports say that Triple H will be out about a month but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will be off TV for that time. Now that Triple H is out of the picture for Backlash, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, and Ric Flair are the top choices as the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. Van Dam won the tag team match for his team this past week, so it would make sense for him to get the title shot at Backlash but Angle and Flair are still strong possibilities.
While Batista has a guaranteed rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship, expect a new #1 contender emerge for Randy Orton’s belt. Batista and Orton had a lengthy feud leading into WM22 and management feels that the fans want something new. Orton is expected to carry Smackdown as champion, so there is very little chance that he will lose the belt back to Batista so early in his reign. There has been talk of having another feud between the two a few months down the line, but that is only a rumor.
Finally, Vince and other personnel have been very happy with the rapid development of Ken Kennedy on the Smackdown brand. The promo that Kennedy cut about moving up on Smackdown is a precursor for what the future holds. It is not know if he will remain heel or turn face but one thing’s for sure, Kennedy is considered the future of the business and will be treated as such.

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview April 10th, 2006

With Backlash just under three weeks away, the superstars of Raw make their way into the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, ready for another huge Monday night show!
Last week’s main event was one for the ages, as ‘The Game’ Triple H and ‘The Whole Dam Show’ Rob Van Dam teamed up to take on ‘The Wrestling Machine’ Kurt Angle and the WWE Champion, ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge. When all was said and done, Van Dam was the one left standing in the center of the ring, getting the pinfall victory after a Five Star Frog Splash onto Kurt Angle. With Jonathan Coachman stating that the main event last week will help him determine the next number one contender … who will emerge to face Edge for the coveted title at Backlash?
After last week, we know one match that will be taking place at Backlash … ‘The WrestleMania 22 Rematch’ between ‘The Doctor’ John Cena and ‘The Heart Break Kid’ Shawn Michaels. Cena was not happy that he wasn’t in the main event last week but there was a reason why he wasn’t involved … Shawn Michaels wanted a rematch after his loss at WrestleMania 22. The two agreed to the rematchmand now that the match is official … who will be able to gain the advantage heading into the pay-per-view on April 30th?
Also this week, we are guaranteed to have a number one contender for Gregory Helms’s Intercontinental Championship at Backlash, as ‘The Masterpiece’ Chris Masters will face Chavo Guerrero. Masters and his tag team partner, Carlito, have been more focused on gaining tag team gold since WrestleMania 22, but Coachman had other plans for Masters. Will Chris be focused on beating Chavo … or will Chavo be able to pull off another upset and get a shot at singles gold?
Finally, another WrestleMania 22 rematch will take place on Raw this week, as the Women’s Champion, Mickie James, will face the former champion Trish Stratus. Will Mickie be able to beat her former ‘idol’ two times in eight days or will Trish win back the title that she has held more times than any other diva on the active roster?
In addition, we are sure to see the World Tag Team Champions, The Big Show and Kane, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, the World’s Greatest Tag Team, and the Spirit Squad this Monday night.
All this and more at 9/8CT on USA.
