Default Re: WWE 2005: A Fresh, New Start

SmackDown; February 17th; Cleveland, Ohio

SmackDown doesn’t open with any opening video or pyro this week but instead with the WWE Champion JBL. He and his Cabinet make a long walk to the ring – limo-less, to address the standing issues against them. JBL says that Booker T better not think walking through Orlando Jordan is going to be easy, because he is one of the younger, finer talents on the roster. He then addresses The Undertaker, who’s name causes a vibrant reaction around the arena.

He says that thanks to him, he had to go up to Stamford to get a new championship belt (which looks the exact same as the one last week, btw) because of the ‘accident’ that occurred last week. He says he is tired of the mind games and that Undertaker should come out and address him face-to-face here tonight. He says while they will be involved in the main event, he’d like nothing more than for him to come out and to smack him across the face – which leads him into ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

He says that if Stone Cold has a problem then he can punch a ticket to No Way Out and sit in the front row, to witness history as he once again survives the challenge of another main event championship match this Sunday. He doesn’t get very far with that, as fed up as he is, leaves the ring with his Cabinet following after addressing the issues …

(Commercial Break)

First match of the night is a six-man tag team match featuring the Tag Team Champions RVD & Mysterio tagging along with Matt Hardy who take on the team of Charlie Haas and The Dudley Boyz. This match gets a lot of time much to the surprise of a lot of people, and gets the job done as the opening match on SmackDown. The finish came as The Dudleys were setting up for a 3-D, but as they did, Matt Hardy came in from behind and dragged Bubba out of the ring allowing Mysterio – who was coming off the ropes – enough time to leap up onto D-Von’s shoulders and roll him up with a Sunset Flip for the victory!!

In the back, Eddie Guerrero was taping his wrists, when Shawn Michaels came into his locker room. He heeded the warning he gave on RAW this week, and Eddie didn’t seem to really give a shit about it, and just wanted Michaels to call his match tonight down the middle, and the match at No Way Out down the middle. HBK put his hands up, and then told Eddie ‘you have my word.’

(Commercial Break)

When returning, John Cena was shown in the back. Standing next to Josh Matthews, he addressed Kurt Angle and the Angle Alliance, ‘thanking’ them for what they did last week. He says that it has only made him stronger and says that this Sunday he will not quit to the Ankle Lock and will not quit until he gets what he wants – the chance to be in the main event of WrestleMania.

Second match of the night follows the interview of ‘The Champ’ and it features Booker T taking on Rene Dupree. The two worked a decent match, that put Booker over ‘The French Phenom’ @ 8:57, but Orlando Jordan tried to get involved in the aftermath of the match. Booker however saw it coming, and delivered the Book End after taking him into the corner with several rights after he came sliding into the ring.

(Commercial Break)

Kurt Angle and the Angle Alliance came out to the ring, as Angle was set to team with JBL in the semi-main event of the evening. Their opponents hit the ring, whom were The Undertaker and John Cena in a ‘preview’ of this Sunday at No Way Out. The match primarily focused on the ‘stories’ heading into Sunday, and both pairings never really seemed to get a lot of action towards each other until the very end of the match, when things started getting out of hand.

Cena and Angle began brawling on the outside of the ring, spilling into the crowd, while in the ring, JBL and ‘The Phenom’ battled it out. The match concluded when Undertaker went for the Chokeslam but JBL got the Clothesline from Hell after elbowing his way out of the goozle!!! JBL stood over Undertaker – WHO WOULD SIT UP – causing JBL to run for it outside of the ring. Undertaker made that classic throat slash gesture, as the lights hit in the arena …

(Commercial Break)

Carlito is in the back, and is searching for an opponent tonight for Eddie Guerrero, as the General Manager has given him that option. ‘Lito doesn’t seem to have much luck, running into Funaki, Paul London, even Akio. But then Carlito passes a side hallway, and then goes back, and begins smirking, as an idea seems to have hatched in his fro-filled mind …

We then suddenly cut to John Cena STILL fending off Angle and his Alliance. The fight has spilled to the concession area, where Cena grabs a tub of popcorn and blasts Mark Jindrak in the face with it. He quickly dodges Luther, who runs into the counter top of the area sending himself over it and to the worker area of it. Cena climbs over the top, and then grabs a couple hot dogs and begins FORCE FEEDING them down Luther’s throat, before kicking him in the gut – causing him to cough!! This gets him out of his problems, but KURT ANGLE comes over and blasts Cena with a steel chair!!

Angle climbs over top, before throwing Cena back over – who is now bleeding profusely– and then begins stalking his movements as he looks to get up. Kurt seethes at the mouth, before lifting him up high – AND HITTING THE ANGLE SLAM ON THE FLOOR!! Cena lands with a thud, hitting the ground VERY hard, as Angle stands over him with his arms high, ‘celebrating’ three days before he heads into the match at No Way Out.

(Commercial Break)

In the ring, the cruiserweights of SmackDown dominate the scene as Paul London and Shannon Moore team up against Billy Kidman and Nunzio. This match seems more filler, but seems to excite the crowd with the high-octane wrestling it provides. The match finishes with London and Moore getting the win after London hit the 450 Splash on Nunzio @ the 7:10 mark.

(Commercial Break)

In the main event, Eddie faced none other than his nephew Chavo Guerrero, with of course RAW’s Shawn Michaels being the special guest referee. The match goes on for a lengthy time, much like their match way back at the Royal Rumble last year, and features a lot of animosity between Carlito who was at ringside, and Eddie as well as HBK of course. Surprisingly enough, Eddie went up to the top rope, and SUCCESSFULLY hit the Frog Splash – this time without Michaels moving anybody – and HBK MAKES the count for 3!! An intense stare down between the two follows, as Eddie reluctantly got up, and watched on both of his sides for an attack from Carlito or ‘The Heartbreak Kid.’

WWE No Way Out
A SmackDown Production

The opening video plays, highlighting the Barbed Wire Steel Cage match as well as the Cena-Angle encounter for the title shot at WrestleMania 21.

Cole and Tazz welcome us to the show, running down the card and put over the Barbed Wire Steel Cage, which looks massive in its awe-inspiring aura it casts over the ring.

One on One
Matt Hardy vs. Charlie Haas
Two of SmackDown’s under looked superstars kick off what should be an eventful night by putting on a stellar opening contest. Much of Haas’ tremendous amateur background was shown in this contest, as well as Hardy’s technical prowess which looked to be unmatched. The finish came as Haas was looking for the Haas of Pain, but was countered as The Sensei of Mattitude pushed him into the ropes. Hardy came up, and hit a Side Effect soon after booting him in the gut, and picked up his first major victory since returning from knee surgery earlier this month.
Winner: Matt Hardy at 8:42 via pin fall.
Hardy nabs the victory and celebrates up the ramp, while Haas, very disappointed in himself, kicks and screams in the ring showing the heel qualities he’s been displaying over the last few weeks leading up to tonight.

***

Backstage, Kurt Angle is interviewed about his match later on tonight with 2005 Royal Rumble Winner John Cena. Angle runs him down, saying the past two times that he’s faced Cena, he’s lost and there’s no denying it. He says that the third time won’t be the charm, and that Cena’s luck that he’s been having is going to run out, just like his chances of becoming the WWE Champion.

***

Meanwhile, in GM Teddy Long’s office, a worker comes in and says that ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is nowhere in sight tonight. Long nods and tells him to keep him updated as he does not want his main event getting botched and ruined.

***

Cruiserweight Championship; Five-Man Sudden Death Match
(First Man to Score the Pinfall is the Cruiserweight Champion)
Funaki vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Billy Kidman vs. Paul London vs. Shannon Moore
A great fast-paced energized match follows what was a great technical based match. Tremendous athleticism and numerous near falls were the story of this one as it seemed often many times that each of the competitors involved was going to be walking out of Pittsburgh with the Cruiserweight Championship around their respective waist. The finish came when Shannon Moore looked to hit his finisher on Billy Kidman, but was blocked a Kidman hit the BK Bomb, which gave Chavo Guerrero time to get up and deliver a Gory Bomb to Kidman as he got up, which in turn gave LONDON an opportunity to sneak in and roll Chavo up from behind AND GET THE VICTORY!!
Winner – AND NEW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION: Paul London at 11:05 via pin fall.
PAUL LONDON IS THE NEW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!! Cole and Tazz hype it up as a surprise victory, which it really was, as nobody saw London come from outside the ring back inside. London celebrates with the belt on the outside, while the other cruiserweights, most notably Chavo Guerrero, watch in tremendous heartbreak, disbelief, and anger.

***

Inside their locker room, the Tag Team Champions talk about their defense of the titles in TLC later on tonight. Van Dam and Mysterio make a pact to ‘stick together dude,’ and seem to be intent on walking out of Pittsburgh with the gold still wrapped around their waists.

***

Shawn Michaels is shown backstage, putting on his referee suit, as later on tonight he will be the referee for the match between Eddie Guerrero and Carlito Caribbean Cool; a match Michaels has promised to call ‘right down the middle.’

***

Grudge Match
Booker T vs. Orlando Jordan
{Cabinet banned from ringside; Any appearances those members will be FIRED}
In a match where no outside interference was allowed, the two involved put on a decent match for the Pittsburgh fans. Jordan and Booker T seemed to have their grudge shown as it was nothing more than a brawl and not a pure wrestling match at all whatsoever. The only real restrictions were the fact that there were disqualifications in the match. Booker went to finish off Jordan after hitting an Axe Kick on him with the Book End, but it was reversed into a Complete Shot from Orlando!!! Jordan rolled Booker over on his back, secured his legs, and got the pin fall victory!!
Winner: Orlando Jordan at 9:27 via pin fall.
Jordan celebrates the CLEAN victory over Booker T, much to the chagrin of the 5-time WCW Champion and the fans in attendance.

***

WRESTLEMANIA GOES HOLLYWOOD – 42 DAYS

***

Eddie Guerrero is interviewed about the forthcoming contest against Carlito. He says that he doesn’t trust Michaels for a damn second and knows that he’s gonna pull something out of his ass and he knows every trick in the book. He goes on to say that if he sticks his nose in where it doesn’t belong tonight then an ass-whooping is in his future.

***

A short video-package airs highlighting the small feud between Eddie Guerrero and Carlito Caribbean Cool, with the Michaels-Guerrero feud intertwining with it as well.

One on One
Eddie Guerrero vs. Carlito Caribbean Cool
Special Referee: Shawn Michaels
Michaels surprisingly DOES call this match down the middle, well for the opening part of it. As the match winds down things start to get a little shaky when it becomes obvious he is slowing up his count for Eddie and quickening it for CCC. Eddie takes light of this and argues with him, but then the Southpaw rolls him up and Michaels clearly makes a fast count, but Eddie fights out!! HBK then tells Carlito to get with it, but Eddie rolls into a small package moments later!! 1 … 2 … 3 … 3 … 3 … MICHAELS HAS AN INJURED SHOULDER!??!?!?! BULLSHIT – the words ring from Eddie’s mouth as he walks over to him and tries to get him up, when the Southpaw once again rolls him up, and MICHAELS SUDDENLY LEAPS UP AND MAKES A FAST COUNT: 1 – 2 – 3!!! CARLITO PINS EDDIE!
Winner: Carlito at 12:37 via pin fall.
A PITTSBURGH SCREWJOB has occurred, as Michaels rolls out of the ring and brings Carlito’s hand high as the two walk up the ramp, knowing they just screwed Eddie Guerrero out of winning the match at hand. Eddie is visibly shaking, as he is lighting up with intensity as things are being taken up to a whole other level now.

WWE ROYAL RUMBLE: ON DVD MARCH 14TH

***

Shawn is seen getting into a car on the outside after sprinting through the backstage area, getting his ass out of dodge from Latino Heat who we see standing at the entrance of the arena, livid …

Michael Cole: Well Tazz Shawn Michaels will get what’s coming to him at WrestleMania from Eddie Guerrero, but now it’s time to turn to another related topic to WrestleMania – that being the main event and right now we’re about to find out one piece of the main event.

Tazz: That’s right Cole, and this next match should be a rocketbusta.

Michael Cole: Ladies and gentlemen, up next – a match boiled with history surrounding it. And the winner heads to WrestleMania in the main event, and it all started – at the Royal Rumble.

John Cena – Kurt Angle V.P.
-Shots of Cena’s loss in the WWE Championship Match at the Royal Rumble-
-Shots of Cena’s surprise entry into the Royal Rumble Match – and then WINNING it-
-Shots of Cena a few nights later on SmackDown choosing to STAY on SmackDown – and then KURT ANGLE attacking him and making the match for tonight-
-Shots of Angle’s career accomplishments and words from Angle talking about main eventing WrestleMania for the 3rd year in a row-
-Shots of Cena during his short career proving others wrong and becoming one of the fastest rising stars in WWE history-
-Shots of Angle attacking Cena after his match with the members of the Angle Alliance and hitting the Angle Slam-
-Shots of this past Thursday when Angle hit the Angle Slam on Cena once again – this time on the floor of the arena near the concession area-

**Medal** A HUGE reaction comes off the Mellon Arena crowd, as Pittsburgh welcomes their hometown hero, Kurt Angle!! Angle welcomes it all in, keeping his arms extended as he walks from the backstage area into the arena, and the fans graciously don’t even chant you suck – and Angle bends down and points to the sky as fireworks go off behind him. Angle, intent on main-eventing WrestleMania for the 3rd year in a row, heads down to the ring with a telling look in his eyes that he doesn’t want to leave here unhappy.

Tony Chimel: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and will determine who will main event WrestleMania 21. Introducing first, from PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA (HUGE pop) weighing in at 238 pounds … he is the ONLY Olympic Gold Medalist in WWE history … and a former 4-time WWE Champion … and is the WRESTLING MACHINE – KURRTTT ANGLEEEE!!

Michael Cole: Tazz you can only get this kind of reaction for Kurt Angle right here in Pittsburgh, and this is an ovation like no other.

Tazz: I am surprised as hell at these fans Cole. They aren’t even chanting “you suck!” This is amazing!

Michael Cole: Well Kurt Angle has made it known that his desire is nothing more than wanting to main event WrestleMania for the third year in a row. He wants to be known for it. He wants to BE the WWE Champion for a fifth time. And with the roll that he’s been on lately, Tazz it’s arguably the hardest damn thing to do, and what that is is stopping Kurt Angle when he is like what he has been ever since the Royal Rumble.

Angle steps in and does his trademark twirl. He kisses his melas as he stops and puts them down in the corner, and pulls up his straps. He looks ahead at the entranceway, awaiting the arrival of his opponent.

Tazz: No doubt about it Cole Kurt Angle has been on fire, but the guy who’s about to step out from behind the curtain is on the roll of a LIFETIME.

**Basic Thuganomics** A mixed reaction filters through, as many of Angle-supporters boo the 2005 Royal Rumble Winner John Cena, who makes his way into the arena. Cena is wearing a Joe Greene jersey, which stirs some of the people in the arena, as he pumps them up and beats his chest and then walks down eyeing Angle in the ring.

Tony Chimel: And his opponent … from West Newbury, Massachusetts weighing in at 248 pounds … he is the Doctor of Thuganomics … and the winner of the 2005 Royyyall Rumbleeee … JOOHHHHHNNNN CEEEEEENAAAAA!!!

Michael Cole: Tazz it is hard to argue what you just pointed out. John Cena came seconds away from winning the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. Then, he shocked the world by winning the Royal Rumble Match despite not being initially involved. Then, two weeks ago on SmackDown, he defeated Kurt Angle’s henchmen Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak, and tonight, he looks to prove why he’s one of the fastest rising stars in the industry, against a man who he has never beat.

Tazz: And Cena knows that Cole. He knows he has to bring his A-game tonight against quite possibly the single greatest wrestler in the history of the WWE. And this rivalry has a lot of roots, including the fact that Cena’s very first match was against Kurt Angle just three years ago on SmackDown. And ever since they’ve had encounters for the past several years, but tonight is the biggest encounter that they’ve had – to determine who goes to WrestleMania next month.

Michael Cole: Ladies and gentlemen this could be the most explosive match of the entire night.

Cena steps inside the ropes, and glares at Angle on the other side. He takes off his hat and throws it in the crowd, before taking off the jersey, and tossing that as well.

***Bell Rings***

WrestleMania 21 Title Shot on the Line; NO DISQUALIFICATIONS, NO COUNT OUTS
John Cena vs. Kurt Angle

Both competitors remain in their respective corners as the bell rings, and the time is now to decide one half of SmackDown’s WrestleMania Main Event. The crowd is defiantly strong, setting an unreal atmosphere for this contest, which may turn out to be the deciding factor in this match. Cena, looking sharply composed in his corner, knows tonight he must secure his opportunity to main event WrestleMania, and in order to do that – he must beat Kurt Angle, something he has never done in his entire career. And that rings through his head, as we see his expression has not changed since entering the ring, as he may be in the most intense mood he’s ever been in.

Likewise, in his corner, Angle has a burning desire. Unlike Cena, it is not about pinning him. It’s about heading to WrestleMania for the third year in a row. And for the second year in a row, Angle is looking at Cena as a proverbial road block on his quest to be in the main event. Last year at No Way Out, Angle made Cena tap out to the Ankle Lock securing his spot in the SmackDown main event at WrestleMania XX. Now one year later, The Wrestling Machine sees Cena as a road block, one that he has to pass in order to once again be involved in SmackDown’s main event at the biggest show of the year, the granddaddy of ‘em all – WrestleMania 21.

The crowd is beginning to egg the two competitors on, getting anxiously impatient and wanting the action to begin. Their wish is granted, AS CENA AND ANGLE LUNGE AT ONE ANOTHER IN, LOCKING UP IN THE CENTER OF THE RING! The crowd becomes unglued, as it’s a stalemate in the center of the ring. Both men use their power and strength to try to overcome each other, but they are both using the same amounts of pressure and vitality to keep it stable in the center of the ring.

ANGLE breaks it up, locking in a side headlock, and thwarts the pressure swinging Cena around. He keeps himself from falling, while Angle swings him backwards, and causes Cena to hit his back on the canvas. Angle, keeping the pressure still applied, grounds himself and wraps his legs around his stomach, creating a body scissors, while keeping the side headlock still applied. The crowd applauds Angle’s flawless ring work, as all signs point to Angle once again main-eventing WrestleMania early here in this huge match up.

The official checks on Cena, who doesn’t seem like he’s giving up any time soon. The Doctor of Thuganomics makes a roll and GRABS THE ROPES, causing a mixed reaction to stir out of the Mellon Arena. Kurt refuses to release the submission, but after a four count does so. Not wanting to risk disqualification, Angle keeps his WrestleMania dreams alive by getting off of John Cena. He gets up, and doesn’t stop the offense, now stomping on the side of Cena’s body, over and over. The referee tells him to quit it or he’ll be disqualified, and Angle then pulls him up to a vertical basis and hits a huge European uppercut, knocking Cena into the corner.

Angle hits a straight shot to the face, before kicking The Champ in the sternum. He winds back and hits a scintillating chop across Cena’s chest, gathering a WOOOOOOOOOOO from the crowd. Kurt smiles at it, and then his expression turns sour as he looks at Cena, and kicks him once again in the sternum. John drops to the floor on both knees, as Angle then comes off the ropes, and as Cena was just getting up, he’s clotheslined over the top rope and onto the floor, where he crashes HARD down on the padded floor. Kurt takes this time to play to the crowd, who pop HUGE as he then turns his attention back to his adversary, and exits the ring.

Kurt Angle picks John Cena up, and hits another European uppercut. Cena staggers and Angle follows it with another, where Cena staggers again into the steel steps. Kurt, animalistic as ever, heads over to him pulling him up by his neck, begins shouting at him. He then pulls his head back and SLAMS it on the steel steps HARD, and Angle lets out a roar afterwards. The camera shows Cena on the ground, trying to pick himself up, while we see Angle playing off to the crowd. The Doctor of Thuganomics grabs the ring post in assist to get himself back to a vertical base, as we see a gritty expression over his face. The Olympian turns around to see him up, and looks at him coldly.

Angle charges ahead, BUT CENA BENDS DOWN, AND RAISES ANGLE INTO THE AIR – WHO CRASHES DOWN ON THE FLOOR!! Most of the crowd boos, while the Doctor doesn’t seem to give a damn, and heads to work. He grabs Angle, and begins the first signs of offense. He throws a right hand, followed by another, which knocks him over the barricade! The 2005 Royal Rumble Winner steps over the barricade, and pulls Angle up to a vertical basis. He puts his hand on his head, before waving his hand in front of his face, eliciting “YOUUUUUUUUUU CAN’T SEEEEEEEE MEEEEEEE” from the crowd, and then goes for a right, but Angle DUCKS – turns around – AND GERMAN SUPLEXES CENA OVER THE BARRICADE – ONTO THE FLOOR!!

The crowd lets out a thundering OOOOOOOH, as Cena hit the ground rather hard, while we see Kurt try to pick up the pieces still amongst the members of the fans in Pittsburgh. Cena holds his shoulder in pain, as Angle scrappily climbs over the barricade, and stomps on Cena’s seemingly injured shoulder. He pulls him up by his head, and slams his forearm down, taking Cena back down to the ground. He grits his teeth, as once again he pulls him up to a vertical base, and then grabs him by his waist, looking to hit another belly to belly suplex, but Cena COUNTERS – and tosses Angle into the RING POST with a belly to belly of his own!!

Angle holds his back in thriving pain, as his history of neck injuries stems down to his back, and it’s a harmful area to hit. Cena steps up very slowly, and exhales, knowing he’s now up to his feet and with what he just did may be an early step to reaching the main event of WrestleMania. He pulls him up slowly and rolls him back into the ring. He enters, and stomps down on him. “Cena” chants begin to appear in numbers, as Cena gazes out at the crowd, who pop as he does so. He charges ahead at the ropes, rebounds off, and sees Angle getting up, and leaps, catching Angle and hitting the THROWBACK!! Cena cleanly hits it, and turns him over and hooks both legs!!

…2…

…NO!!

Cena takes a breath after not being able to keep The Olympic Gold Medalist down, and then brings him back up to his feet. He shoots him into the corner, and then comes in flying and squeezes him into the turnbuckles with a splash. Kurt staggers out, and Cena goes to power him up for an early attempt at THE F-U, but Angle scratches and claws his way out of it, and rolls out of the ring getting away from the action. The crowd boos, setting Angle off, as he turns his attention towards them as they put even more heat on the beloved ‘hometown hero.’ In the ring, The Doctor of Thuganomics is now coming off the ropes, and baseball slides into Angle taking him down!!

Kurt was sent hard into the barricade, as Cena riles up the crowd in the ring now. He leaves, heading for the outside, and grabs Angle and pulls him up slowly. He throws a right hand, before grabbing the back of his head and runs him into the steel steps!! The crowd becomes unglued, as The 2005 Royal Rumble Winner has been putting on an impressive performance so far in this match. Cena steps up onto the steps, and pulls Angle between his legs. He grabs onto his tights, possibly looking to PILEDRIVE him onto the steps, which the commentators gasp at, as Angle’s history with neck injuries is long documented – but Angle back drops him onto the ground.

Kurt takes a moment to catch his breath, before STOMPING on Cena hard, and then brings him up and slams his forearm into his face. He grabs him by his face, shouting at him, “THIS IS MY TIME” and then throws him into the ring. Kurt climbs in through the ropes, and covers – digging his forearm into his face and putting his feet on the ropes for leverage.

……………………
…2…

…NO!!

The United States Champion kicks out, but it’s no bother to Angle, who picks him up off the ground. He swings him into the ropes, and Cena comes off, and Angle goes for a clothesline, but Cena ducks it. He rebounds, and comes flying into the air hitting him with his shoulder, taking the Olympian off his feet and onto his back. Cena lunges forward going for the pin, but Angle grabs him in mid-air and locks his arms around his head creating a side headlock!! Half of the crowd cheers for the reversal, as Angle’s mat skills have flourished here in this moment.

Angle tightens the grip as we see his eyes widen, as a sadistic look has come over his face. Cena is trying to fight out, but the more he does the more Angle tightens the grip. Cena suddenly rolls over and cradles Angle!!

…1…
……………………
…2…

…NO!!

Angle kicks out and then gets up to his feet, and locks Cena with his arms, turns around, and FLOATS HIM OVER WITH A BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX!! The crowd explodes as Angle gets up and roars setting off a mixed reaction now as Cena is shown thriving in pain. Holding his back The Doctor of Thuganomics now is vulnerable, as The Wrestling Machine begins stomping on his back repeatedly. Cena is huddled in the corner, no way to protect himself from the onslaught from Kurt Angle, who is continuing to stomp all over him. He extends his arms welcoming in the split reaction, and then goes back into the corner.

He grabs him by the head, and shoots his forearm into his chin with a forceful uppercut, as Cena staggers into the corner. He pushes him up on the top rope, and The Olympian climbs onto the second rope. He begins pummeling him with right hands onto his forehead, one by one, over and over … and over … and over … and over again! Angle taunts the crowd while pulling his opponent into his chest, BUT THE DOCTOR SUDDENLY PUSHES HIM OFF THE MIDDLE ROPE!!! The crowd cheers as Cena then balances himself on the top rope – BUT ANGLE SUDDENLY CHARGES UP – GRABS CENA’S RIGHT ARM, AND DRAGS HIM DOWN FROM THE TOP ROPE ONTO THE MAT!!!

The crowd explodes once again as Angle pulls out all the stops in one defying moment in the match where the winner heads to WrestleMania 21 and the WWE Championship Main Event. Both men are sprawled out on the mat, inches away from one another, as the crowd begins pulling for both Cena and Angle, dueling each other with split chants of ‘Let’s go Cena’ and ‘Let’s go Angle.’ Angle inches forward, before putting himself over Cena, and hooking both of his legs.

…1…
……………………
…2…

…NO!! NO!!

Cena kicks out!! The crowd roars as Angle looks perplexed that he couldn’t get his longtime adversary down for the count after hitting a top rope arm drag. Kurt shakes his head in absolute disbelief, before getting up and stomping on Cena. He grabs him by his arms, bringing him near the corner of the ring, and once again stomps. He turns around, facing the crowd and the turnbuckles, and begins to climb up to the top. The crowd rises as something big may be about to happen, as we see Kurt Angle stepping up to the top rope. He is bent on the top rope – WHEN HE LEAPS INTO THE AIR – FLYING HIGH – CREATING A PICTURE-PERECT MOONSAULT – COMING DOWN ON TO CENA …

WHO MOVES!!! ANGLE CRASHES AND BURNS!! The crowd goes ape shit as Cena has managed to move after taking minutes of punishment from The Olympian. The young rising star brings himself up in the corner, to a standing ovation, as we see him turn his attention to Angle who is slowly getting up. He goes from behind and lifts him up high in the air – before dropping him down with the KILLSWITCH!! The crowd roars as Cena gets up and shoots his hand up, getting a louder ovation as The Doctor of Thuganomics waves his hand in his face, shouting “YOUUUUUU CANNNNNNNNNN’T SEEEEEEE MEEEEEEEEEE” before running off the ropes, then dusting his shoulder off and dropping his fist down with the Five Knuckle Shuffle!!

Cena brings himself back up, and makes the double horns, before PUMPING his Reeboks up. He waits and waits, clamoring at the idea of finishing off The Wrestling Machine for good, and BRINGS HIM UP IN THE AIR AS HE GETS UP – AND HITS THE F-U!! Cena bounces up and cradles Angle’s legs up in transition, possibly three seconds away from main eventing WrestleMania for the first time!

…THREE-
NO!!

Kurt gets the shoulder up!! Much to the disappointment of John Cena, he couldn’t keep him down for the count of three. Cena takes a deep breath, before getting up and heading to his corner. He grabs the steel chain, which elicits a big pop, and begins to wrap it around his fist. With no disqualifications the referee doesn’t put up a fight, as he waits and sees Angle stirring. He charges forward, BUT ANGLE TELEGRAPHS IT AND CATCHES HIM – AND GETS UNDERNEATH HIM, AND HITS A GERMAN SUPLEX!! The chain goes flying into the corner, as Cena and Angle are down on the canvas, but Angle seems to be the one with the most life.

The Olympian is on all fours, crawling to the corner, as he sees the chain in his sights. He digs his forearms deep into the ring, crawling closer to the ‘prize,’ and he grabs a hold of it!! He begins wrapping it around his fist, concealing himself, as we see Cena stirring. Kurt gets up, turns around, AND WHACKS HIM IN THE FACE WITH THE CHAIN!! The crowd surges as their hometown boy has hit John Cena with his own steel chain!! Angle took a lot out of himself with the blast to the face of the United States Champion, whom we can see has been BUSTED OPEN, and it’s all legal with the no disqualifications ruling in tact.

Kurt gets up slowly, as we hear many ‘Angle’ chants around the Mellon Arena, as he ditches the chain sliding it to the outside. He bends down, not before pulling down the straps of his singlet. He first however heads toward the corner, and grabs the top turnbuckle, AND RIPS IT OFF – EXPOSING THE STEEL. He then heads back over to Cena, who’s back on his feet, but is unsuspected that Angle is right behind him. Kurt lifts him up into the air – AND HITS THE ANGLE SLAM!!! Kurt smirks as he turns around, knowing he has him right where he wants him, as he hooks the legs, heading towards his third main event in a row …

…THREE-
NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!! CENA KICKS OUT!!!

The crowd EXPLODES, as Angle is LIVID that Cena kicked out of the Angle Slam!!! Seething at the mouth Angle gets up and puts Cena on his stomach and grabs his ankle!! He locks in the ANKLE LOCK, BUT CENA SUDDENLY ROLLS FORWARD – SENDING ANGLE FORWARD – INTO THE EXPOSED TURNBUCKLE!! Angle’s own doing puts him in a bad way, as Cena suddenly gets up, and wipes away some of the blood on his face, and pulls Angle up on his shoulders – AND PLANTS HIM WITH THE F-U!! THE F-U!! THE F-U!! Cena drops down and hooks both legs, hoping Angle won’t hold on!!

CENA WINS!!
Winner AND GOING TO THE MAIN EVENT AT WRESTLEMANIA 21: John Cena at 13:47 via pinfall.
Bloodied, battered, and bruised, JOHN CENA SURVIVES AND RETAINS HIS SPOT IN THE MAIN EVENT OF WRESTLEMANIA 21!!! The crowd surges as Cena has his hand raised in the middle of the ring, while Kurt Angle disappointingly looks down at the ground, knowing he will not be involved in his third straight WrestleMania, and instead now must look for a way to get involved…

WWE: Don’t Try This at Home…

***

Cena, walking around with his United States Championship on his shoulder, and with a towel wiping his face, is walking backstage. Also walking, is the WWE Champion John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield. Cena BUMPS into JBL unintentionally, and JBL doesn’t even say a word, as an intense stare down takes place, between two men who might be meeting in several weeks for the same prize they met for back at the Royal Rumble …

WWE Tag Team Championships; Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match
Rey Mysterio & Rob Van Dam vs. The Dudley Boyz
With the tough task of following such a crowd favored match as before, the four men do the best damn job they can to put on what would be an excellent tag team TLC match – dating back to the days of the ‘Attitude Era.’ Many spots were seen in what was a fairly long contest, with many near title grabs and many falls off ladders through tables and A LOT of action in general.
Van Dam went to get the title after pushing a ladder holding D-Von Dudley through two tables on the outside, but Bubba Ray came out of NOWHERE and hit him with a steel chair in the back, and as he came down the ladder, he hit him AGAIN with it, and with no one around, as Rey was taken out of the equation after a powerbomb through the announce table, BUBBA RETRIEVED THE TAG TEAM TITLES – GIVING THE DUDLEY BOYZ THEIR 20TH REIGN AS TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS IN THEIR CAREER!
Winners and NEW WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: The Dudley Boyz at 16:41 via title grab.
Bubba raised the championships high atop the ladder and then came down and helped his partner to his feet, as the two were helped back as well as the now former champions who were given a standing ovation by the crowd.

There is nobody finer than JBL.

I am a man, of dignity, integrity, and a man you should all be proud of to call … Champion.

There is nobody on this planet that has had as much success that I have had in my career.

When you think greatness … I come to mind.

When I am finally gone from this Earth, people will remember me for being a champion that everyone on the face of this planet can be proud of.

Clips of JBL winning and retaining the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Vince McMahon: So what we’re gonna do is at No Way Out (Shot of the No Way Out logo) we’re gonna have a match, against a man that you’ve never scored a pinfall on JBL.

That man – is The Undertaker.

Michael Cole: My God! THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP – IS ON FIRE!

Tazz: Holy *SHIT!*

John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield: Deadman, you can cast any spells that you want and you can try to destroy my title, but you will NEVER – EVER – BEAT ME AND YOU WILL NEVER – EVER – TAKE – THIS – TITLE!!

Just a few comments ... but the full reviews will return when you do.

~ The whole Eddie vs. HBK thing is gettin very good. I like that Shawn was the special referee on SD and did a good job. But then when he went to NWO ... he screwed Eddie!! Looking forward to seeing more of this feud, as it should get very personal in the coming weeks.

~ Kinda confused as to why the Dudleyz got the belts. Nothing in the match made me think that Rey and RVD were going to feud and I think MITB is a good option for both men. I guess you just wanted the belts off them.

~ Cena was always going to the main event at WM21 and the match between him and Angle was pretty awesome. Angle needs a good feud heading into WM21 ... just don't know who it will be.

~ The main event was probably the most shocking thing in this thread. SCSA coming out and screwing JBL was one thing ... and I guess they will wrestle at WM21 ... but now 'Taker holds the belt!! Cena vs. 'Taker is a great WM main event but now you are in a tough spot ... DON'T PUT CENA OVER!! That's all I'm gonna say about that matter.

Can't wait for your return JBL.

Well folks, I've decided to end my hiatus, but there's a little change of plans. Instead of taking you on the road to WrestleMania, we're gonna jump straight to that event, the 'KOP' route if you wanna call it that. In the coming days, match previews will be written up for the matches on the card, leading to ultimately posting the 'Grandaddy of Them All' sometime in the middle of next month.

Without further ado, here is the WrestleMania 21 Card:

Let me say during my reviews on you shows leading upto the No Way Out i always said it would be a triple threat between Tista,Orton and HHH or a Fatal 4 Way between all 4 Men of evolution. I was right.

Angle in the money in the bank dosnt make sense. Though i thought he would of been ivovled in something else, something big.Overall i am looking forward to this Massive Event and i will give my predicitons after you have previewd the Matches.

Fickle much? The card looks pretty great. Will do the predictions after the previews are all posted. First of all, I called the Evolution 4-way match to happen at Mania. The managers in the match intrigue me, especially Vinnie and AA. Unsanctioned street fight is good considering Austin could either break down himself or JBL. 8 match for 4 hours? The only match I don't like on the card is the tag team match. If you're repeating a match at Mania, you need a match stipulation (last chance doesn't count ) MITB and the 4 main events are looking awesome. One thing I have to say is to spread out your major matches so that all four main events don't come one after the other
