Nige’s Rumble Feedback

^^^I think the comments about new champions was a bit harsh considering all the titles were vacant anyway and we were always going to get new champions no matter what^^^

Anyways, the video set the scene well for the rest of the show, setting up the big feeling of Wrestlemania well and truly on the road

Great choice to start the show off, having two guys who are over to really get the crowd into the match. I like how you have set the matches out with the big moves in purple and capital letters, really makes it stand out more. The action started as it would, not as slow as you would imagine, which is great cos I hate the openings of matches cos 90% of the time, they are just boring, but this wasn’t. Taking it to the outside also gave you some more options and make it a little more of a brawl. The momentum changes were good too, Kennedy moving on the mat as Hardy hit was great at that time. The slingshot into the cover was also a great spot too, getting as many close calls in as possible is a must for any PPV match. The TOF reversal to The Mic Check reversal into the DDT was great too man, really making it a close match. Great way to finish the match I must say, something you would only see on a big PPV, but great match to start with

Regal showing off the new WWE Championship belt I think was maybe taken a bit more seriously than it needed to be. Doing it in the ring before the match I think would have been better, especially considering you had two promos after this too, delaying the next match even further

The ball collection with Cryme Time & Morrison and Miz was funny for the most part. Shane getting pissed was good though with the expressions he pulls off. I was surprised that Shane got the girly job, but the explanation came over as serious and realistic

Triple H’s interview was short and to the point. You had him come across as being so switched on and on the ball tonight, so much so that he doesn’t fear The Undertaker. LMAO at Shawn turning the lights on and off, brilliantly hilarious!

I don’t think placement is that important, but I think the Ladder Match should have either started the show or gone behind the two title matches. Anyways, right to it, you shocked me to the core by having Punk keep the Money in the Bank and win the US Title, I didn’t see that coming, you shocked us all with that one, booked it very well. I think MVP maybe lost the fall to easy though, not putting up much of a fight at all for the GTS. The second fall was always going to be the most talked about, and for good reason. MVP using the title to bust Punk open was cool and started that fall off with a bang. Punk hitting the Pepsi Plunge was awesome, mark out moment. I really feel for MVP as he has been made to look like Punk’s bitch tonight. I struggle to see how he can move on to something better now after losing two falls to Punk, but on the flip side, you’ve made Punk look like a potential top star

Jeff & Matt celebrating of sorts was nice to see, good for Matt, although he was maybe a little too aggressive with the word jackass. It’s not often Matt says things like that, but laughing at Jeff thinking he is going to win the Rumble! Nice tease though

Cena’s interview was good, but I think only Christian could ever get away with calling Edge “Adam”. Cena looked relaxed and then turned up the heat by getting more involved about the match, which was needed

Trish back, what a surprise! I can see why you brought her back as apart from Mickie and maybe Candice, there aren’t any other good solid faces in the divas division. When she came out, it was obvious what the outcome would be, but I loved that she used the sharpshooter at the end of a match I think has done Beth not a lot of good really

The Jericho/Orton promo was very good, although Orton may have sucked up to Regal a little too much. That aside, it was real intense and set the foundations well for a feud between them. Of course the main thing to come out of all this is Teddy hyping up a return tonight. At a push, I can’t think of many top free agents aside from RVD, Lashley & Lesnar, unless it’s a jump, which I hope to god it’s not

Trish’s interview was a sweet moment, a real nice moment for everyone to enjoy and reinforce the fact Trish is back and is the new Womens Champion. Having Beth look on maybe showed it’s not over, maybe she should have struck then to get some momentum back, but with Beth losing tonight and possibly chasing the title, it’s all too predictable that Trish will come out on top, using Beth to put her over, and Beth is too good for that

Wow, bit surprised that Trips & Taker was before Edge/Cena. I think you’ve set the match up perfectly and it was impossible for me to even predict with any kind of confidence. The leg drop through the table was sweet and a great spot, as was the set up from the snake eyes to the chokeslam before the great heel tactic from Triple H. That was brilliant and really turned it round, which was ace, giving him the licence for the low blow and the sledgehammer, but no! Rey Mysterio making the return I don’t think anyone possibly anticipated. I didn’t think it was right for him to do it tonight, although it was the perfect time for revenge. I don’t like run ins in a world title match on a PPV, especially a big one like this, the music too as it feels too much like a TV and takes the big match feel away. The worst thing was that Rey’s attack didn’t cost The Game, but he still lost anyway. I think if Rey was going to return, he should have sealed the deal, because that would really mean he cost Triple H the title, because he didn’t, Trips lost it himself. Since it is your first PPV, you will get used to creating the big match occasion and separating the difference between TV and PPV

Edge’s interview was okay, a little corny at the end, but I like that he is making a big effort to prove him wrong by taking Ryder & Hawkins out of the equation. That did a great job of hyping the match up right before it

Okay, here we go. Taking the match outside early tells you that there is a lot of real hatred between them and gets things going from the buzzer so to speak. The leg drop onto the barrier was sweet. It all played out very well with Cena getting all his move set in to get the crowd fired up (both ways). The Edgecution to the slap and then the STFU was a great little sequence, it really drew you in to the hatred between them. Then it all just went crazy with the counters from the F U, and Cena kicking out of the spear, me not like that. Cena going for the F U yet again, and another roll up counter from Edge, only this time using the ropes to get the win. I think the spear should have sealed it myself with Cena’s blame going to the interference, and of course the big one, he wouldn’t have to made the spear look weak by kicking out of it. Two run ins in world title matches on a big PPV isn’t great!

Michaels looking intense was cool as it really puts him over as a strong contender to win tonight, showing he has the focus, but the Teddy mention again of the return. Not a clue to be honest, I hope it’s not something over the top

Someone big needs to enter the Rumble early, and Michaels is a good choice considering he has form to go on and win it. Poor Miz really felt the effect of Michaels didn’t he?! It was good to see Umaga come in and make a strong impression by getting a couple of early eliminations, as well as Kane joining in on the act to get rid of the crap. Batista also made an impact, taking out a big guy like Shad, it’s a good thing Shad’s got his titles, titles, yeah, yeah. Orton came in and took out Smith quickly. One thing I notice is that when someone big comes in, they only eliminate one and it gets a bit subdued momentum wise for them, with the exception of Umaga. Loved that Cody came back out and eliminated Hardcore, pushing their feud well on the big stage. Orton eliminating Batista in that way was kind of god for Orton, but where was the reaction from Batista? I was expecting Big Show to come in and get rid of some of the dead wood, but Jeff and HBK joining forces to get rid of Umaga showed some good thinking. Mick Foley was cool and made an impact straight away, leading to a Carlito feud? No way, not The Rock! I’m amazed you’ve brought him back. It always seems like a panic move when someone brings him back because he’s easy to book, and considering Dwayne Johnson said himself that “The Rock” is dead, he would never return. I’ll stop there, but this was the momentum you needed some of the other guys to have, coming in and making a series of eliminations. I can’t see The Rock eliminating Foley, but if Foley went for him, he would do what he did. I thought he would win for certain, but his return just crapped on by Orton. All the momentum went out of the window and Orton has to go on and win now for sure. It was great to see them go at it for a while and the build up was great, I just can’t believe that Jeff won it ahead of Orton. The finish was realistic though for sure with them both going over and Jeff holding on

Thank you Nige. I'm very pleased you enjoyed it, as you know I will be returning the review shortly. Onto other matters I will be posting my thought on the Rumble, as well as answering the questions you have put in your reviews; also giving little clues where I'm going with this . Then I really pumped to get onto No Way Out; which in my opinion has a really strong card. Yeah so there we go, heres a little calendar of sorts:

Bookers Thoughts On RR - 2nd or 3rd of June
Royal Rumble Fallout News/Notes - 4th June
Monday Night RAW Preview - 5th June
Monday Night RAW - 8/9th June

Side Note: I will be looking at all the predictions and handing out the 10k to the winner.

I know I've put your review off multiple times, but after learning your Rumble wasn't far off in the distance, I decided to give you some rev on it. I'm not really gonna chitchat here for long, so here goes...

619s Feedback For JD SPURs Royal Rumble

For starters, this opening video package is simply awesome. Could be a tad better; I'm not really a fan of wrestlers talking about their matches in the opening vid, but the Hardy/Kennedy bit was pretty sweet.

As far as commentary goes here at the beginning, I think its a little weird that the commentators go over the card as soon as the PPV begins. Normally, they wait until the match is gonna take place then show graphics/hype, because you really don't wanna take any hype off the Rumble here. Commentators seem in character, also.

Great first choice of match here to get the readers into things, I love that Kennedy picks apart Matt's shoulder very early. Its typical Kennedy, and its a very good thing you captured that...ARE YOU SERIOUS!?! Hardy kicks out of the Mike Check!?! Okay, I'm really enticed now...wow. Hardy kicking out of the Mike Check really told me you wanted to end it with him still looking strong, and I geuss I was right. Damn, thats one prediction I know I got wrong...congrats to Matt, and great match, btw.

Haha I like the explaination of the new WWE design. The spinner belt aggrivates me anyway, glad you went with a central Attitude design

I loved this segment with Shane/Cryme Time/M&M. Made a sense of entertainment come over the Rumble for a moment.

The Triple H segment didn't really click well for me. He didn't really click with me characterwise. I didn't really see him yelling "WHAT?" at Grisham at a revelation like that, but I liked his reaction. Shawn playing games with The Game...lol

Ok US/MITB...here we go...MR. 305? Sounds intruiging, wonder how that came about. I see some grammatical errors early in the match, but easily overlooked...okay, I really didn't like the fact that MVP virtually had that match in the bag, then Punk comes back fro the dead to win the US Title. A little shocking, but I really didn't like it, but great little shock factor. Okay, onto match 2...I'm not really into the way you've written the ladder match; I think the bits about the rungs they're on is a bit unneccessary. Lol, the Pepsi Plunge was brought out? You really dug deep in these guys movesets. A little brave I'd say to bring out that move on WWE PPV w/Triple H still on the card. Nonetheless, I'm shocked that Punk has both mid-card accolades...maybe you want to mongo push him too?. I just really wanna see where the heck MVP goes from here.

A little bit of filler with the two Hardyz in the frame, but it brings a little more intruige into the Rumble match itself...

Wow, Cena really sounds full of vengance after that little bit. Could've been longer and a little more in depth, but Cena seemed in character, I belive.

TRISH!!! TRISH!!! After the way she retired at Unforgiven, I really didn't want her to come back and ruin it, but a 6 minute quality Diva match just might make up for it. One of the best women's matches I've ever read, I can tell you that much. No surprise to see Trish pick up the win and the title. I think you should've ended this in a no-contest, though, to be perfectly honest...just my two cents...

Hmmm...little bit of tention in Y2J/RKO...I like, I like...

Okay, I'm looking to this to be the best match on the card, seeing as 'Taker and Trips are both capable of going around a half-hour of full actoin. A little odd that 'Taker's on RAW, to be honest, but whatever. The flow gets off to a hot start with the Old School being hit very early, looks like these guys are gonna go all out! Love the Figure 4 bit...OUCH! 'Taker meets a steel post! I expect that to change the tone...Rey pops out!?!? That certaintly is surprise of the night (unless the Rumble winner is a little more shocking). THE DEADMAN WINS!!! DEADMAN WINS!!! Wow, I really didn't see 'Taker pulling this one out. When Rey came out, I thought maybe, but way to go on the call to give it to the Deadaman.

The Edge segment was very well in character, I liked the degrading of Torrie. The No Way Out promo should've been a little more extensive, but maybe you thought of it at the last minute. Still, should've had a little more depth to it and more detail.

Alright now: Edge/Cena. Lets see where this one goes...lol at the Jesus line on the legdrop, classic...I see some grammical errors as the match starts to pick up speed. "has not been seen for a long time" is the proper phrase that you had in there, not "scene". Anyway, the match goes on...everything is really great in this match up to this point. I feel like its like the last match where you're not holding anything back and putting forth everything these two men have to offer. Just the simple mention of the Edgecution told me that. As soon as Cena KOd the Entourage with the FU, I figured he'd try to build too much momentum and try it on Edge. I LOVE the way Edge won, again, taking his opportunist header to the extreme. Love the ending.

Alrightythen, Royal Rumble! Here we go! Love how Finknel got introduced to do the announcing. I'm not gonna comment on very much on this, but I'll do my best here...a VERY long time passes by btwn the frist and second eliminations. Why would Regal insert himself this early if you want him in a tyrant-like rule? A very late entry seems to make more sense here. Lol at #13 being Jeff Hardy...a rapid string of eliminations with Chavo/Kofi/Cody here. Wow, very crafty with Orton all over Batista being "eliminated". AFter this, I can really see Orton going all the way and Batista feuding with him, but more on that later...ROCKY IS BACK!!! ROCKY IS BACK!!! Wow...but why eliminate him? I'm a little confused as to why you bring him back at the Rumble; it really spoils his return. More on that later, but Jeff walks away with it! Wow! Edge/Hardy at 'Mania...?

FINAL THOUGHTS: INCREDIBLE WITH SOME BOOKING FLAWS, SURPRISES AND SHOCKS THAT WERE DUMMED DOWN. It was fantastic, just my only peeves were that The Rock returned (which I thought was freaking awesome), but only to get eliminated a few moments after entering. I think it just makes him another guy in the Rumble, but then again I see why you would do that to push Hardy. As far as other things go, glad 'Taker and Hardy won their respective title matches, I'm eager to see what you do with Edge and Hardy, and whatever Punk's role will be toward Wrestlemania. You've got soooooooo many tools to entertain us with after this huge PPV. I expect you not to disappoint.
OVERALL: 9/10. Not bad for a PPV virgin...

P.S. Learn to use commas!!!

JD SPURS Royal Rumble Thoughts

Well here are my thoughts on how the Royal Rumble went, enjoy … I guess.

A little note to 619IDH, I wrote this on my really old laptop while my computer was getting fixed and on it the common button was broken. So I had to copy and paste a ‘,’ on, so I was pressing Ctrl + V. This is why I couldn’t use a many commas as much as I liked. But my computer is now fixed so joy to the commas!!

Well we kicked off the night with the intercontinental title match, which for me was my favorite match to write as it came quite easy. I liked that Kennedy worked on the arm etc. and the finish is something I always wanted to see, flirting with the Green Bay Plunge then straight to the top rope twist of fate. Green Bay Plunge is something that I can’t quite figure to bring back yet, because to me the Mic Check is a weak finisher, hence Hardy kicking out of it.

Simple Regal statement about the new championship, I love the attitude era championship and despise the spinner belt, only Cena should hold that style of belt, he’s not on RAW so no spinner belt. I really like the tumbler segments in the Royal Rumble and it’s a chance for comedy. Cryme Tyme adds elements of comedy and with Shane ‘Money’ O’Mac I couldn’t resist it . M&M are the number one contenders so I think I needed to have them come in and it worked well, and yes they are heel and I’m having Morrison being a slight tweener, this might or might not turn into a face turn. Triple H interview was too simply to hype the match, and Shawn Michaels involved has some significance for the next RAW.

The next match, Punk vs. MVP aka MEGA PUSH FOR PUNK match. Yeah he gained the first fall quite weak now looking at it I so should have made it a better fall. The ladder match was so fun to write and yes I introduced the Pepsi Plunge, could resist the mega spot! Enough said about this match it was pretty good imo. John Cena interview was pretty filler and hyped the main event really. Return of Trish, yeah, these two would be great in real life and this match may have been short but was good. Sharpshooter to end it was to make Trish look unbeatable to make the ‘strongest women in recent memory’ tap out.

Onto the two title matches, both had interference; Mysterio’s on HHH is basically to set up a future feud between the two. I wanted the Edge-Cena match to go slightly longer but most of the matches went quite long so kept it a bit less. All matches were 200 words to 1 minute by the way. But really onto the rumble and the big comeback. I was always going to have The Rock come back, I left lots of little clues since the beginning, e.g. saying Dwayne Johnson run out of movie offers and his latest film flopped. Nige well I hear your comment about him saying the character is dead, I myself have never heard him say that and this is BTB not real life . Also return of Foley he will be back as well, I will comment in my News and Notes tomorrow. Basically I put Orton over and which puts Jeff Hardy over. Hardy as a rumble winning and now puts a potential Edge feud with maybe Punk coming in, have to stay tuned to see.

Okay there you go, news and notes tomorrow and then RAW preview maybe the same day with it, not sure yet. Reviews are till welcomed.

The winners of the predictions is: JayBeeLoser … 10K on it’s way.

PWInsider.com
News/Notes

The Royal Rumble was yesterday and we can confirm the first buy rates that came in for it was 1.9, but this is not yet official. 1.9 is a strong number (400,000 separate homes = 1.0) and Vince and the whole WWE should be very happy with the show they put on. We believe here that it was a big improvement from recent times, and we give it a solid 8.5/10. We had some great matches, Mr. Kennedy and Matt Hardy put on what we thought was the MOTN, working very well together. Also what came to a shock to us was seeing CM Punk hit the Pepsi Plunge for the first time in the WWE; somehow we think Triple H was oblivious to this taking place. Of course we had the shock of Mick Foley and The Rock making a comeback, it’s rumored both have signed on for a 6 month contract with an option to extend it to up to two years. After the recent failing of Dwayne Johnson films it was just a matter of time before he made a comeback to his first love. Foley however has been contracted with the WWE since the start of 2009 but was yet to be introduced in the right way, neither has been assigned to a brand on wwe.com but we believe they will be put on SmackDown! to add some real star power.

Now onto even more positive news, by way of wwe.com we can confirm that the WWE Women Championship will now be defended on both brands, making Divas not be part of to the roster split. This is mainly to make the Divas on SmackDown! have something to fight for, and make it more interesting because fans had become board of Diva wrestling on Friday Nights. So expect to see the likes of Trish Stratus and Beth Phoenix on SmackDown! Also from wwe.com we can now officially confirm there will be a Monday Night RAW Elimination Chamber at Now Way Out in four weeks. We can make this announcement by the way of the RAW preview on the website.

Onto more disappointing news, MVP (Alvin Burke) injured himself at the Royal Rumble, and is expected to miss No Way Out, but he himself said in a small interview we had with him before he left the New Orleans Arena, that he would still be around at SmackDown! and may be continuing the storyline with the new United States Champion, CM Punk. The return of Rey Mysterio was also seen this Sunday but as well he will still miss No Way Out due to his groin injury which is healing but he is not ready for full time wrestling. He made a small appearance in the Triple H vs. Undertaker match and looked to be okay there but says he still need time to rest it fully.

Some final news, in the dark match on Sunday the impressive team of Ken Doane and Ted BiDiase Jr. fought Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore and beat them in around 8 minutes after Doane hit the Scissors Kick to Wang Yang. This team had only been together down in FCW for around 3 months; and nearly didn’t come up together after Doane was given some matches on Heat and Velocity but will be bought up to the roster together as a team. Expect a debut soon from these two, watch this space.

Monday Night RAW
Monday 26th January 2009
Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario; Canada

Finally The Rock Has Come Back …

The fallout to the Rumble begins tonight as does the Road To WrestleMania. Monday Night RAW comes to Canada this week and it is sure to be special as the announcements from General Manager William Regal will be coming left, right and centre.

Regal Address

William Regal has confirmed that he will kick off the show, he has told us that he will be commenting on the RAW Elimination Chamber for No Way Out and the number one contender for the newly crowd champion from last night; The Undertaker. What will Regal have to say, will he dare mention his performance in the Royal Rumble and will the continued tension with Chris Jericho come to a head? Who will be in the Elimination Chamber for No Way Out and who will be in the #1 Contenders match?

SmackDown! Invited

William Regal has handed an invitation to SmackDown! superstars to come to Monday Night RAW to look how a real brand works. William Regal was obviously annoyed at SmackDown! General Manager, Teddy Long after last night and this might be a chance to lure away some of his big superstars. Will any SmackDown! superstars be in action? The likes of John Cena, the recently returning Rock and new World Heavyweight Champion, Edge are in town but will they be at the Rogers Centre tonight?

Tag Team Collision

Last night we saw the current Tag Team Champions, Cryme Tyme have another confrontation with the #1 Contender’s to their titles, The Miz and John Morrison. And this week The Miz will be taking on big Shad in singles action, it can only be short time before Miz and Morrison cash in their chance at the titles, but they will be looking for redemption after last night John Morrison eliminated JTG. However The Miz was less fortunate and didn’t last over 2 minutes, tonight will be his chance to redeem himself. Which team will gain an advantage tonight, and which singles member will walk away victorious?

Stratusfied!

Last night, The Glamazon was finally but to rest by the Canadian knight in shining armour, Trish Stratus. Beth Phoenix wasn’t the happiest diva last night and we can all understand why, who will dare get in her way tonight? She has set an open challenge to any Diva who wants to take her on, who will it be? Could Trish Stratus want to take it up or will it be a diva from the SmackDown! roster which recently merged with the RAW roster, to create a Diva Division in the WWE?

Find out his and more only at 9/8 CT on USA!
