Smackdown Feedback
Video package reminding us of matches that are taking place is nice, because we’re in store for some fun ones. By the way, the dig from Stephanie at Bischoff is awesome, it’d be cool if you could really capture the whole Raw against Smackdown mentality, and then make it last until Survivor Series.
Opening the show with the Piper’s Pit? Damn, a little bit of a shock, I must say. Maybe it’s just me, but I was expecting it to be a middle of the show type of segment. Anyway, in all honesty, I can understand Piper getting cheers because he owns, but I didn’t like him almost making excuses for his attack on Hogan. Face or heel, Piper has always hated Hogan, and by the way you went about it, it probably would have been better not mentioning that incident at all. I was really pleased to see Kurt Angle interrupt Piper, because I couldn’t help but feel Lesnar as the guest could be a little dull. Kurt Angle basically spieling the same stuff as previous weeks was solid enough.

at Piper getting interrupted again, but this time by The Big Show. Big Show actually showed some sort of charisma calling himself the main attraction and what not, good stuff.

at Piper calling Show a fat ass. In all honesty, whilst Show talking himself up after this was alright, the fact that he didn’t threaten Piper or anything like that really shocked me. It just seems like something The Big Show would do. Piper owned Show some more throughout which was pretty funny stuff, and finally the beat down came, which takes away my earlier criticism. Angle going after Show was pretty good stuff as well. All hell breaking loose with Austin and Lesnar getting involved made things that much more exciting. Stephanie’s announcement was pretty sweet as well, the fatal four way will be freaking huge. Overall, a solid start to the show, nothing ground breaking, but did its job.
No marks for no rap from Cena. It’s something I really enjoy reading when written by you, so uhh, get back on that next week, please. I don’t really like when the not legal man gets pinned, but the fact you actually mentioned it makes me think it will be used somehow in the future. If not, it’ll just seem a bit stupid, tbh. Anyway, hanging with the likes of Benoit, Rhyno and Awesome can only do great things for Cena, and Awesome continues to be epic. Definitely a good match.

at Matt Hardy’s interview. So delusional, I really adore his character. Good interview.
O’Haire > DeMott in every single way. Push please.
A decent enough interview from the WGTT. Basic hype for their tag title defence later tonight, I’ve got no problem at all with that. I was a little surprised to see no humour from Funaki, but that’s not really an issue.
STING is going to OWN, obviously.
Awesome interview from Chris Kanyon. His character reminds me a lot like Matt Hardy’s, except you make it out to be so much more epic. Kanyon being Sting’s first rival could be pretty damn huge. Anyway, a nice interview, as you should be able to tell by now; I love it when Kanyon gets microphone time.
The tag title match certainly delivered a pretty entertaining match. As most tag team matches go, it was fairly formulaic with The APA beginning strong, and then WGTT isolating Bradshaw as the match went on. The ending was nice and fast paced as well, although I didn’t like the idea of a second match tonight ending because of a title to the head. I’m definitely interested to see where you go with these two teams from here. I doubt it’s over between them, but I’m not sure what else there is left to do here.
Stone Cold Steve Austin interview seemed pretty good, although I didn’t really like him talking about he believed the doubters for a moment. Much like my fuck up the other week, it just doesn’t seem like something Austin would say. Despite that, it was solid interview, but shit picked up when The Undertaker got involved. You wrote the tension into this meeting pretty well, and the seriousness, yet bit of cheek from Austin was nice as well. I think this is just a huge tease, but I’d mark for one last battle between these two somewhere down the track. Summerslam maybe?
A nice and easy win for Eddie Guerrero, who will hopefully soon move on to bigger and better things. Anyway, a nice win, and the attack afterward shows me that this will continue for at least a little bit longer.
Hopefully you’re just busy and your inspiration is not failing, because I really want you to make it to Vengeance, and then Summerslam.
Interesting meeting between Kidman and Mysterio, hyping the Cruiserweight title match.
The Cruiserweight Title was also definitely a fun match to read. I didn’t like the idea of everybody having to tag in though, I just wanted everybody running riot. It would have been a lot more fun, imo. Anyway, everybody attacking Hardy at the start seemed fair, before he got himself out of the way. From there, we had the spotty passage, and just a fast and furious affair. Definitely smart booking, with Hardy not really cheating, but not proving that much by picking up the victory. A JBL esque lengthy reign with Hardy somehow managing to win every time would own.
A Train interview was pretty intense, I actually didn’t mind it. I don’t know if The Undertaker could be called old yella’ at this time. Anyway, everything was good, except for the woolly mammoth line. That was really lame.
Yet another match that’s not the main event? Geez. Anyway, nice win for Kanyon.
Brock Lesnar interview was pretty solid, running down the challengers and what not. Really not much else to add.

at the Nathan Jones appearance.
Kurt Angle really has been hard done by. I can see him costing Austin the match next week. A good bit of interaction between Stephanie and Angle anyway, continuing Angle’s bitter run. He’s been really entertaining as of late.
The main event was a damn good contest to, with the brutality of it being really good at times. The Undertaker was always going over here, but you did a good job in having A Train look really strong in the process. An awesome main event, but I have a feeling next week’s will be even better.
Overall, a solid show. I still really enjoyed reading it and what not because I’m really into the thread, but I think it may have been a step back from the previous few weeks, bar the matches of course. The show maybe could’ve done without the O’Haire match though. I feel like 7 matches are too much when 3 of them go over ten minutes. Anyway, yeah, solid enough stuff, and now here are my predictions.
