Looks like a good Smackdown Renegade. Really not sure what's going to happen with the World Title picture, but it's interesting nonetheless. Maybe a Fatal 4 Way is in the works. Bringing back the United States Championship is a good move in my oppinion. And the Tournament should be great as I am a big fan of them, looking forward to seeing who wins it and can't wait to see who is in it, big suprise please. As I haven't been following this thread I have no idea why Stephanie has to explain herself to her father, but it seems juicy. Somehow I can't see her being fired though, or if she does something or someone will have something to say about it. The Cruiserweight Title match should be good, and with Shannon Moore barred for ringside I see only two possible outcomes. Either Hardy finds another way to steal the win, aka cheating. Or Mysterio is victorious. I'm leaning towards the latter. Anyway shaping up nicely my man, hit me up with a PM when it's posted, cheers.

SmackDown!
Chicago; Illinois
04/10/03

Before the opening video can air we cut backstage to see Team Angle standing around each other. Kurt is visibly upset and we soon find out why as he yells at anyone in his sights to find him Paul Heyman. Kurt then says he's gonna have to get his title back his way, and Team Angle walk off

*Opening Video*

*PYRO*

As soon as the pyro display finishes, Michael Cole & Tazz are about to welcome us in when they are cut off by *MEDAL* as Team Angle hit the ring. Kurt gets on the stick and tells everyone that he should have a rematch with Lesnar, even if it's not in his contract. Kurt says Lesnar completely fluked it at Mania and he proved at the end of last week's show that Lesnar can't match up to Angle. Angle then sends a message to Brock Lesnar, looking deep into the camera, intensely focused saying "Last week I proved to everyone Brock, that you can't take me!" Kurt says he would've broken Lesnar's ankle right there and then, but he just sent the clearest message that he deserves a title shot, and seeing as how Kurt DID NOT end up breaking Lesnar's ankle, he thinks that's enough to warrant a title shot with Lesnar. Angle demands Lesnar come out here right now and award Angle his rightful rematch. No show from Lesnar. Angle says Team Angle will stand here until he gets an answer. The crowd then explodes as *ROLLIN* hits and The American Bad Ass, The Undertaker comes out. Undertaker says there is no way that Kurt is going to stand in Taker's yard and demand anything, when Undertaker owns everything and EVERYONE in that yard. Taker tells Kurt to get to the back of the line because the only man really deserving of a title opportunity is none other than The Undertaker! Huge pop. Angle tells Taker that unless he backs off and leaves Angle to reclaim his title, he'll go one step further than he did with Brock last week and snap Taker's ankle right here! Undertaker seems all for a fight when *REAL AMERICAN* hits and the crowd erupts as Hulk Hogan appears on stage. Hogan says all the Hulkamaniacs here in Chicago and around the world want to see him be the man who takes on Lesnar, to a thunderous ovation. Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas tell Hulk to use whatever tiny part of his brain still works, do the smart thing and go back to the nursing home. Angle tells Hogan to listen to the only other people out here making sense, apart from himself of course. Hogan says the only thing that's making sense right now is putting Team Angle back in their place as he DROPS CHARLIE HAAS WITH A RIGHT HAND! The crowd explodes as Team Angle jump Hulk, only for Undertaker to come to Hogan's rescue and a wild brawl has erupted. As the WGTT go toe to toe with Taker & Hogan, Angle slips to the outside and grabs a steel chair. Angle sneaks around the ring and gets ready to BLAST HOGAN WITH THE CHAIR - NO - BROCK LESNAR TAKES THE CHAIR OFF ANGLE AND TAKES KURT DOWN! The crowd goes wild as the WWE Champion is here and Lesnar & Angle begin furiously trading blows with each other. Eventually a shitload of security and officials rush to the ring to break up everyone with Team Angle backing up the ramp as the face trio stand and tell them to come for some more

-Commercial Break-

We are in the presence of General Manager Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie is looking presumably nervous ahead of her upcoming confrontation with her disgruntled father and boss Vince McMahon later tonight as Team Angle barge in, and all Steph can do is roll her eyes and moan in sheer disappointment. Angle cannot even get a word in before Steph tells him that he's getting nothing. Angle frowns and Steph says she's not going to hand anyone a free pass to challenge Brock Lesnar, but tonight has more important things to worry about than who's next in line for a title shot. Angle looks completely bemused by that. Steph tells Kurt that tonight Team Angle are taking on Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar in a Six Man Tag, and to begin worrying about that match and leave her in peace. Angle is far from happy as Team Angle leaves Steph's office with McMahon letting out a deep sigh. Outside Steph's office, Angle asks the WGTT if they've heard from Heyman yet. Shelton & Haas look at each other and shrug their shoulders before Angle yells out "FIND HEYMAN! NOW!" and storms off leaving Team Angle taken aback

First match of the night sees Rey Mysterio going one on one with Matt Hardy with the Cruiserweight Championship on the line. With no Shannon Moore by ringside, Hardy has no one to help him out the back door tonight and Rey really takes it to the champion, scoring multiple near falls. Hardy manages to get a foothold back into the match and almost steals it with a rollup with a handful of tights but Rey is able to kick out. Matt has the advantage to work over Rey, keeping the high flyer grounded for a while. However Hardy is soon under a barrage of high flying antics from Rey after Matt misses with the Leg Drop, and Rey then plants him with the Wheelbarrow Bulldog and Hardy stumbles into the ropes, set up for the 619! Rey looks to end the match there but is distracted by CRASH HOLLY who leaps through the crowd in a "Mattitude" shirt. Rey's lapse in concentration costs him as Hardy quickly rolls up Rey from behind and places his feet all over the ropes as the ref makes the count and Matt Hardy retains his Cruiserweight title thanks to Crash Holly!

-Commercial Break-

We return to see Matt Hardy with Shannon Moore and Crash Holly backstage. The trio are celebrating Hardy's title retainment and Hardy yells out that the "Mattitude" cannot be stopped

We are now backstage and Brock Lesnar is in his locker room sitting on a chair, deep in thought when Undertaker barges in to a strong reaction. The two big men have a brief stare off before Taker thanks Lesnar for what he did earlier but warns Brock that he's holding the WWE Championship in Taker's yard, and in his yard, what Taker wants, Taker gets. The American Bad Ass walks out leaving the WWE Champion with some food for thought

Next up we see The Big Show taking on Billy Gunn in singles action. Unfortunately for "The One", Big Show is rampant and enjoys near total domination over Billy. Big Show looks in red hot form heading into the US Title Tournament next week and takes little over 5 minutes to finish off Billy with a major PEARL HABOUR CRASH {for certain nubs <3, this was what Show called his "Showstopper" finisher during most of 03} to score another impressive victory

Backstage again and Chris Benoit & Rhyno are talking over something when into the picture walk Los Guerreros. Eddie does most of the talking, trying to sweeten some sort of friendship between the two teams after their recent differences by wishing both Benoit & Rhyno the best of luck in their US Title Tourny matches next week and in their tag match later tonight. Neither Benoit or Rhyno are sold by Eddie's sudden good nature and stand stiff as Eddie and Chavo extend their arms for a handshake. Los Guerreros get the message and Eddie says he can accept that. Benoit tells Eddie he can read him like a book and neither Eddie or Chavo will be getting any favours in the Tournament from himself. Rhyno says that goes for him too. Los Guerreros seem slightly disappointed as they walk off leaving Benoit & Rhyno to stare a hole right through them.

-Commercial Break-

Back live and just like last week we are treated to a video package hyping "No man has raised more controversy, no man has shocked us and left us in amazement, no single superstar has raised more hell, no man has defied the odds like..."

*NO CHANCE IN HELL* hits to a MASSIVE heat and the music of the Chairman cuts off the hyp package for the second week in a row. Vince McMahon storms to the ring as only Vince can, mic in hand. Vince says that "crap" nonsense like that should not be aired when he is in the building and eating away HIS time. Vince says it's a disgrace he's had to wait almost an hour to get out here considering he owns this damn brand. McMahon then tells his daughter Stephanie to get herself out here quickly, considering how much time she's already wasted tonight. Stephanie obliges and does so quickly, getting into the ring. Vince wants to know why he is being treated like some regular Illinois person as of late to gain a bit of cheap heat. Vince says announcing the return of a title, and airing video packages over having his Million Dollar Body on TV is not good enough and demands to know why his own flesh and blood is doing this to the very person that is keeping her out of the Unemployment office. Stephanie tells it to him straight up, she says Vince has gone mad. He's lost it. Big pop. Vince's eyes pop too, wide open in surprise (ZING!~ ) as Stephanie says after what Vince did to a living legend in Hulk Hogan, just to try and please his massive ego, was a damaging image to the McMahon family name and this company as a whole. Vince is dumbfounded about this blasting he's receiving. Stephanie goes on to say that she's been in contact with SmackDown's latest roster acquisition and that all Vince is doing by interrupting his video packages is making him itch to appear sooner rather than later. Vince says he's heard enough of this and says he had an important announcement to make. Vince says it was a landscape altering announcement that affects the future of both SmackDown and RAW, but after the way he's just been treated again by his daughter, he's not going to reveal that announcement tonight. Heat. Vince says he will however at the upcoming PPV Backlash, where he'll be in control of what's going on and won't be disrespected like he has been on SmackDown recently. Vince also says that whoever this newest addition to SmackDown's roster is, if he's got a problem with Vince interrupting his "hype" then he can confront Vince about it face to face, WHENEVER he wants to. Vince then gets close and whispers to Steph "You're lucky I'm not going to fire you...yet" before exiting the ring, leaving Steph a little worried about her future

-Commercial Break-

Chris Benoit & Rhyno take on The FBI teaming of Chuck Palumbo & Johnny Stamboli. It's a big hitting contest with both teams looking to make a statement in the Tag division, and Benoit/Rhyno also looking to score some momentum heading into the United States Title Tournament. With Nunzio at ringside, The FBI use some questionable tactics to isolate Benoit and wear him down, but eventually Benoit makes the hot tag and Rhyno destroys all in his path. Even Nunzio cops a brutal Belly To Belly Suplex from the Man Beast on the outside after he saved Stamboli from being pinned. Eventually Palumbo receives a GORE and Stamboli falls to the CRIPPLER CROSSFACE as Benoit & Rhyno pick up a hard fought, yet impressive victory

Backstage Hulk Hogan is with Funaki. Hogan totally hypes himself ahead of the main event to a rowdy reception from the Chicago fans and says that no matter who gets in the title dreams of the Hulkster, they won't be able to stop HULKAMANIA!~ from running wild on them [/stereotypical Hogan bs]

The Big Show then talks his upcoming dominance of the US Division up, saying that he'll have the US Title around his waist without breaking a sweat

-Commercial Break-

John Cena hits the ring next and cuts a rap on the other participants in the US Title Tournament, pointing out The Big Show's earlier speech and saying that fat bastard couldn't get any title around his waist

Cena's opponent is Rikishi, in a rematch from last week. Big Kish is more than up for this one and really takes Cena to school early on, and continues to have the better of the match throughout. Cena however shows some great strength and fire and attacks Rikishi's left leg, keeping him off a vertical base. This comes in handy at the end of the match as Rikishi goes for his signature Savate Kick, his leg gives in, making him easy pickings for a thunderous FU on the 400 pounder as Cena's good post Mania run continues on SmackDown heading into the US Title Tournament

Backlash Hype Video

Backstage we see some of the face Cruiserweight's consoling Rey Mysterio after he was cheapened out of winning the CW Title again. Billy Kidman and Paul London are the most vocal and tell Rey that they'll have his back from now on to even out things with Moore and Crash. Rey appreciates that but says he doesn't have another title chance yet. Just as that is said, Stephanie McMahon walks into the picture and announces next week will be a Number One Contenders match for the CW Title involving Rey, Kidman, London, Spanky, Tajiri, Jamie Noble, Funaki & Nunzio in an Over The Top Rope battle royal to a big pop

-Commercial Break-

A-Train and Nathan Jones go at it in a brutally poor match next. Jones' post Mania de-push continues as the A-Train puts him away with a combination of the TRAINWRECK followed by the DERAILER! A-Train sends an emphatic message heading in the US Title tournament while Nathan Jones is again beaten by one of his enemy's in fairly comfortable fashion

Final hype for the main event takes place with a typical over the top hard sell from Michael Cole as we head to the commercials

-Commercial Break-

The main event is a wild one with the faces completely dominating Team Angle, mainly the WGTT as Kurt Angle doesn't want any action while his side is on the back foot. The face trio seem a little edgy, constantly keeping an eye on each other with Lesnar showing no trust for his potential challengers, and vice versa. Kurt Angle does tag in after Shelton & Haas do all the hard work on Hogan and the Olympic Gold Medalist goes to work on Hogan, and continually reminding Lesnar of the fact he's still the best. Team Angle do a good number on The Hulkster but finally in trademark Hogan fashion, THE HULK UP BEGINS!~ Hogan hulks himself up to a nutcase reaction from the crowd and takes right hand after right hand from Haas without flinching, before hitting those lethal RIGHT HANDS!~ Hogan then gives some to Shelton who attempts to end Hulk's momentum but as Haas tags in Angle... HOGAN TAGS IN BROCK LESNAR! The crowd explodes as the two jump right for each other and the brawl is on. Lesnar as expected gets the better of the slug fest but is then clubbed from behind by Shelton, only for The Undertaker to flatten Shelton with a soup bone as the ref loses control. In the mele, Hulk Hogan looks to take Haas' head off with a BIG BOOT but Haas avoids it and Hogan WIPES OUT THE REF! What results is Brock Lesnar copping a chair shot from Kurt Angle to the back. Angle goes into the ring and takes Hogan down, locking the ANKLE LOCK on the Hulkster. The Undertaker gets into the ring and breaks it up, saving Hogan once again it seems, before Taker is jumped by Shelton & Haas. Meanwhile Lesnar has grabbed a chair of his own and slides into the ring. Kurt Angle gets back to his feet and Lesnar swings the chair at Angle - WHO DUCKS - AND LESNAR CREAMS HOGAN ACROSS THE SKULL! Mixed reaction follows as Lesnar doesn't seem to show much remorse as Hogan is down and busted wide open. Undertaker has seen this and after sending both Shelton & Haas to the outside, approaches Lesnar and starts to argue with him over what's happened. Lesnar explains he was going for Angle, and Kurt is smartly reviving the referee as this is going on. As the ref comes to, Angle takes his chance and pushes Lesnar into Taker, who stumbles out through the ropes to the outside, and Angle rolls up Lesnar from behind with a handful of tights 1.....2.....3!

The crowd boo's crazy as Angle grabs a huge win and Team Angle retreat with Kurt celebrating as Lesnar is stunned, while Undertaker is on his feet glaring at Lesnar is disgust, obviously thinking Lesnar bumped him on purpose as we fade away

***

So there we have it. By no means great but hey, it's a show again after over 3 months. Enjoy as best you can, some things were meh, but I'll try to work around/with them in the next few shows...

Reney’s SmackDown Comments

Thought I might as well have a look at your show while I was at it since you finally found it within yourself to post something <3

Solid enough way to open the show. If my memory serves me correctly, it looks like you’re building in the same direction Mac was heading with SmackDown which is probably fair enough. It’s pretty evident that you’re heading towards a Fatal Fourway at Judgement Day however quite frankly I’ll be happy when you get it out of the way and you rid Hogan from this thread. The brawl was good, perhaps building towards a 6 man tag match later tonight?

And there we go. Steph books the Main Event.

Crash Holly helping Hardy retain in such a fashion kind of made him look a little weak since Mysterio seemed to have him all but beaten. Never the less though, you can build off this so solid decision.

Leaving the WWE Champ pondering what?? Anyway, more hype for the Title situation. Good stuff.

Show advancing is smart. You can use him to put someone lesser over further into the tournament. What’s the Pearl Harbour Crash??

A Benoit win is a good win.

The thought of Funaki and Hogan on my TV screen makes me laugh.

Hmm. Air Time for the Big Show, perhaps he could be heading towards victory in the tournament. The US Title wouldn’t physically fit around that big heaps waist by the way.

Damn nation. Cena points out exactly that. Haha. I laugh.

Cena goes over Rikishi – thank god. One would assume that you are heading towards Cena v Big Show in the final.

CW Title Number 1 Contenders Battle Royal next week. Very cool. Hopefully this is the start of an endeavour to add some real prestige and importance to the Cruiserweight Championship.

After reading the Main Event, I’m starting to think that the Fatal Fourway may not be a foregone conclusion. You could possibly be building towards Hogan v Undertaker. I could handle a Hogan heel turn. The end of this was an absolute mess albeit very well booked but the finish all but guarantees a title shot for at least Angle, which is no real surprise.

Solid enough show, nothing overly spectacular, as you admitted but you seem to making some solid progressions storyline wise.

^ <3.

Pearl Harbour Crash was just a new name they used for a while to try and snazz up the "CHOKESLAM!~" move before they settled with the Showstopper again. I like the name, hence I decided to go with it, for now...

Hogan + Funaki = RATINGS tbh.

Thanks for the review, jobberoo.

Default Re: Renegade Presents: WWE 2003 - Now Go Home And Get Your Fucking Shinebox

Opening Promo: Good opening promo. Got the point across that Hogan, Angle and Undertaker want Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. I can see a fatal four way happening at Judgment Day with a six man happening in the main event.

Stephanie/Angle: I was right. LOL.

Matt Hardy/Rey Mysterio: Good match which had some good action. I actually thought Mysterio was going to win until Crash Holly came out and cost Mysterio the match. Still good.

The Undertaker/Brock Lesnar segment: Some good stuff here. I miss when The Undertaker would talk, cut interviews, do backstage segments, basically, like I said, talk. This was a good, nice and short promo. I like it.

Big Show/Gunn: Good match to put Show over.

Los Guerreros/Benoit/Rhino: Nice promo. I miss Los Guerreros from 2003, always hilarious, funny. This promo was a good one to get the tournament over.

McMahon Segment: I liked it. It left me wondering what the announcement is going to be.

Benoit & Rhyno/FBI: I liked it. I'm glad Benoit and Rhyno won. Gives them momentum for the tournament.

Hogan/Funaki: Like you already said Renegade, Hogan & Funaki = Ratings.

Big Show Segment: Normal Big Show promo, which again, put over the US Title tournament.

John Cena/Rikishi: Glad Cena went over. For some reason, I always loved Cena/Rikishi, especially the battle rap they had in 2002.

Stephanie McMahon Cruiserweight Announcement: I love it. High flyers all over, should be great. I do expect Rey to win.

Main Event: Great match. Had everything. I like the dissension between Lesnar, Hogan and 'Taker. I really hope Hogan gets taken out of the title picture, but it isn't likely. Maybe just 'Taker/Hogan, nonetheless though, a good match.

Well, my first time reading this to be honest with you, it was pretty good. I enjoyed reading Smackdown!.

WCW Rules' Review of Reney Jobber's Smackdown!

Goodness; calm down, mang. Here's some good 'ol loving.. Since I'm not too up to date with the happenings in this thread, bear with me for I may be lost a bit.

Hmm... Kurt Angle starting off the show? Cool. Fancy him demanding a rematch, though, which I imagine would be awesome if it were to occur. Him and Lesnar = greatness. Ooooh, The Undertaker? More pure greatness, IMO. The show's already off to a good start, beginning with Angle, and Taker. I liked the "yard" stuff from Taker, always good stuff. The confrontation between him and Angle rocks, and here comes Hulkamania! Contrary to others, I quite like Hogan, and he can sell a crowd. I'm thinking with Hogan in the picture, we might see a Fatal Four Way or the like, which would be awesome. The brawl was well done, and spells a future for these feuds, though instead of a Fatal Four Way like aforementioned, we might get two matches in Lesnar/Angle and Taker/Hogan. Any combination would be fine with me, TBH. Hehe, Steph tells Angle he's getting nothing. I like Steph as GM; Six Man Tag Team Match would be epic, IMO. LOL @ Angle yelling for Heyman. Eww.. Heyman, hehe.

Interesting first match, with Rey Rey and Matt Hardy. They can always produce good matches, and with the Cruiserweight Championship as the catalyst, it's better. What? Crash Holly? I remember him.. what a jobber. Meh, Hardy retaining is okay, but I like Rey Rey more. I'm guessing the makings of a feud? Backstage segment featuring Mattitude was unnecessary in a way, and yet, necessary. Don't ask me for the logistics, but it seemed that way. Don't know why, TBH.

Confrontation between Taker/Lesnar = awesomeness. Taker's yard, hehe, is mentioned quite a lot. Awesome at first, but the novelty is waning. Anyway, good to see him and Lesnar are somewhat on the same page, and yet, there's some left over tension from their pasts. Like I said earlier, Fatal Four Way plz! Show/Gunn match; it was always going to be Show. Gunn's going nowhere, I presume. Show in the US Title Tournament is cool, and realistic.

Decent segment here between Los Guerreros and Benoit/Rhino, nothing more and nothing less. I liked Eddie trying to smooth talk Rhino and Benoit into some sort of false friendship, but it doesn't work. I'm guessing these guys will be continuing their feud. Though, it's interesting the teams are in the US Title Tournament. I'm guessing if you're trying to push two divisions at once, it helps to keep them entwined in some manner. Hmm? Awkward video package; what does it mean? Oh, here comes Vinnie Mac. Is there some connection between him and the package? Might be. Quite an intriguing segment here, with Stephanie giving Vince some words of her own, regarding his ego, problems with Hogan, and such. Aww man, what a bitch; I have to wait for this announcement till Backlash? Sucks. Oh well, he is a Heel, and that's what Heels do; piss us off. I hope this guy interrupts him during the announcement, that'd be fucking sweet. LOL @ McMahon's last words to his daughter; sorry, I laugh at power trips. They're so damn awesome.

I like Palumbo and Stamboli, but the logical winners here were Benoit and Rhino, TBH. I see them encountering Los Guerreros sometime in the future in a match. HAHA; Hogan and Funaki = ratings indeed, IMO. No offense to PARANoIR, but fuck the haters! Big Show talking up some dominance is expected, so nothing out of the ordinary here. I do expect him to make quite a splash (no pun intended) in this Tournament, but I don't see him winning the Title though.

Ah.. here comes Mr. Cena, the rappa. Let's see how he does with Rikishi. Goodness, Cena picking up that man for the FU is simply stunning, but possible. Cena goes over quite expectedly, poor Rikishi. He can't seem to catch a break. I think Cena/Show will be for the US Final, but I could be wrong. I'd like to see Rhino or Benoit face him as well. Could go anywhere, I say. Awesome; Cruiserweight Over the Top Battle Royale to determine the Number One Contender = even more ratings than Funaki and Hogan in the same room!

Meh match regarding Train and Jones. Next, plz. Going into the Main Event, I didn't expect Lesnar's relationship with Taker and Hogan to be entirely smooth, and that was the case, seeing as Team Angle are unified and those three were thrown in together. The entire match becomes chaotic once Hogan takes out the Ref, which is cool, and fine with me. Of course, typical WWE; swing the chair, but miss and hit your partner, in that Lesnar smashed Hogan! Something was bound to happen, and Taker comes up and argues with him, only for Angle to gain the WIN! Smart, but typical booking here, and I can't wait to see what'll occur next week.

Overall, decent return show here, Reney. With a few more minor tweaks here and there, it could've been a little better, but it's a start. The WWE Title Scene and the Cruiser Scene are both awesome, BTW.

I liked the show. I'm a little lost on Smackdown back then since where I lived at we never got UPN so I never got to see it.

You cant do much better than Hogan,Angle,Taker and Lesnar involved in a main event. I hope this is leaning toward a four way for the title not two seperate matches.

The promos were believable. I thought Kurt Angle especially was spot on.

The whole Mattitude I don't like because personally I'm not a fan of Matt Hardy especially as a heel. But his little gang helping him gets him over in wins against superior wrestlers.

Benoit/Rhino and Guerreroes feud would be fine with me. The history of Benoit and Eddy will push it over.

A-Train demolishing Nathan Jones I think gives him a little credit as a worthy opponent for the Big Show in the US Tournament.

Showing Cena picking up Rikishi for the F-U foreshadows I think a Big Show F-U in the finals.

The cruiserweight battle royal is a curious decision. I see it as a fish out of water match because the participants are light and high flying a lot of moves like the dives to the floor can't be used.

I give it a 7 out of 10.
