Bradley's RAW Review

My favourite arena in the world for obvious reasons...
I did read last week's show and was shocked at how the Goldberg situation went down, but in a good way.
I would have loved to have seen the Evolution promo in full and you can do so much with this. I am just hoping we don't see a tag match for the main event at Backlash and we actually see Goldberg/Trips and possibly Booker/Orton which it looks like this one is heading at the moment which is fine by me but, let's face facts, Orton and Batista weren't huge in 2003, only just over by being with HHH and Flair and Evolution had been together for only a few months so I am hoping you don't rush Orton or Batista in to main event status and let them run their course and build them up. You should do that and Goldberg/Flair will be a good match but shouldn't he have more hype as it is his first WWE match ever?

I really do help D'Lo gets a push. Misused like hell during his WWF stint so I want to see him push for the I.C title (I can't remember for the life of me who holds it) Test and Christian ought to be a good event but I am just concerned that neither men were on the 'Mania card so it could be unfamiliar to most fans but I am just being extremely nit-picky about the time frame.

I think Rock/Steiner will be awesome, no idea why he wasn't at 'Mania IRL and I am really going to be anticipating this. Nice line from the Rock highlighting his heel persona and cowardice as you already stated. I hope Steiner cuts a promo soon and beats the Rock, forcing him to leave.

Right to Censor were a pretty decent stable, I hope they aren't going to be undermined by Evolution and nice to see them get a win against passable opposition and again it looks like you are building up for a pretty awesome push and it is nice to see you are taking things slow and collected leading in to Backlash.

HBK sounded a little like a heel mid promo. I am not sure if Jericho had the Highlight Reel back then but it could have been introduced as this was the perfect place. Not too high on having Maven participate in one of the main matches of the evening as he always seemed green to me but I guess you know what you are doing.

Victoria winning is pure awesomeness, I have always been a fan of hers and the match at Backlash (if it takes place there) should be good to see the least.

I am pretty much loving this swerve which I didn't see coming. Not so much of a swerve but a shock but it was a great shock. I hope you don't overstack this storyline but the tag teams you have here are awesome and they are not going to waste and a great way to build the heels up is taking out one of the most prolific tag teams of all time so well done. Kane with his mask on= ratings BTW and I would love an RVD/Kane, Dudleys vs. 3 Minute Warning and Storm/Regal in a tables match. Sure it might be a clusterfuck but it would be as fun as hell.

Interesting interaction, it seemed too much of an anti-climax but I can live with the suspense, probably your best built up fued from what I can see.

I kind of knew this revenge act was coming, if Hardy heel or face because I wouldn't like face vs. face, it just doesn't appeal to me. If a bit predictable it again builds up the fued and this could turn in to a humdinger of a feud.

I liked this 6 man tag match but Batista and Orton getting jobbed by an old-timer like Nash isn't good at all. I know I said build them up carefully but I don't think Orton should be pinned 2 weeks in a row. Let Batista pin Maven and get him over next time please. I am hoping for a HHH/Jericho/HBK/Goldberg match soon.

RTC>NWO??? It certainly is looking like it.

Goldberg is looking like a major force. I am seeing visions of Cena circa 2007 in this match. Breaking out of the figure four was a great move on your part as it isn't something that normally happens but it perfectly logical and at the end HHH making a quick getaway was a good move but Goldberg looks like he is becoming a little too strong. Also no Orton and 'Tista in the main event by ringside?

Overall, I am loving some of your feuds, 'Berg/HHH Rock/Steiner RTC and HBK/Jericho to name a few and I can't wait to see a potentially awesome Backlash card. A very well written recap which I thoroughly enjoyed apart from some nit-picking about the year and the chronology of some of the events. Other than that, Kudos!

Smackdown

Absolute solid way to open up the show, me thinks. Match would’ve been killer to see, and the write-up did the work rate justice as it was top notch. I liked the ending as well with Chavito taking the blow, Eddie the cheap pin. It’s simple, yet effective, and just a nice touch that you could see happening with the Guerrero’s. Plus, Rhyno doesn’t look weak in the loss at all, which is what really makes me a happy camper. Man Beast push plz. However, no ratings for no Crippler Crossface. DON’T TAP DANIEL~!

Blue brand? Is that like blue balls? Naw, but in all honesty, boring segment, and pretty dry too. However, it’s Steph – she doesn’t have much going on personality wise. The segment was needed for progression, so it still works out, albeit bland. Oh, and nice brackets. X-Pac debuting for that final spot

Wearing a Cowboys jersey in Washington doesn’t seem like a great tactic to get any heat or “ownage”, in all honesty. If it was Washington DC, yes, but the ‘Hawks and Cowgirls aren’t rivals. No shocker to see Cena win the match, although ‘Kishi > Cena. Oh well, at least Cena didn’t suck so much in 2003.

Matches back-to-back = meh. Seemed like a filler match for some reason, and just didn’t capture my attention or intrigue. However, how can Rey hit the 619 at the nine minute mark and the match only be 7:37?? . Oh, and Hardy for the win next week plz. If Rey wins the Title, it’ll just seem like a waste.

ROFL, the Team Angle stuff was hilarious. Well, Angle and Charlie at least. Ending wasn’t hilarious, but good nonetheless. Excellent, short segment.

Hogan’s promo by himself was okay, albeit it didn’t have the amazing Hogan feel that I wanted. DDMac is no Hulk Hogan writer, brother. Still, if Hogan gets a push to the WWE Championship, I’ll mark. You know Hogan’s deserving. dude. Team Angle are uncharismatic, always will be. The ending was actually a big let down, because Hulk Hogan would not be taken down by those two green mother fuckers, jack; Hulk Hogan would show them what Hulkamania is all about, brother. Undertaker taking Hogan’s spotlight = a big no-no as well. Fuck Taker, it’s Hogan’s yard, dude.

Big Show promo was pretty good, just because it’s Big Show. He’s always under utilized in BTB’s it seems, which makes me a sad panda. He’s got skills. Use him, push him.

Speaking of filler… next.

Eh, Hogan/Taker seemed like more filler, too. No shocker that Taker’s just looking out for himself. It’s how he always is.

Yay for Big Show squashing Nathan Jones, and thank the Lord that you’re ending his push. Fire his useless ass already. He blows.

Vinnie Mac promo was pretty good, if only for the grapefruits line. Glad to see him interjecting himself into the business fray again and everything. A nice little angle to hype next week.

Brock’s promo was incredibly bland and dry until he got to the part about being worth it. It was dragging on and on, despite it just starting. Also, you put in some … awkward … pauses. They really have … no … place where you … put … them … at times. Angle’s stuff was really good, until you had Lesnar make Angle beg. I can see Angle begging because he was told too, hell, I can see Angle begging on his own accord, but Brock having Angle beg? No, not at all. It just didn’t sit well with me, and Brock seemed incredibly out of character, as well as bland. Big turn off, really. Thank the Lord for the big brawl at the end to save this segment. Nicely done with switching the momentum from Face (Lesnar) to Heel (Team Angle) to face (Taker and Hogan) and back to heel (Angle) to end the show. That was nicely done, and the full circle ending with Angle wanting Brock to beg was another very good touch. The ending of this segment evens out the shittiness of the beginning and middle portions.

Overall, solid show, but didn’t blow me away, especially from you. A lot of the matches seemed like filler, and they only got worse as the show went on, really. Big Show/Jones was a step above Funaki/Tajiri, but other than that, the matches got worse. The Team Angle and McMahon sketches were good, as was the conclusion to the conclusion. Everything was either non-intriguing or just not overly good. Probably just need to get into the rhythm of the BTB, I imagine, and you’ll be doing good again. Also, the shock lacked in the fried chicken and kool-aid department.

----------

Raw

I like the idea of Goldberg running an Evolution gauntlet, if you will. It’d make a great extended angle with Goldberg having to work his ass off to finally get to Triple H. Goldy/Flair would be a shitty match for sure, but nevertheless, draw ratings, it would.

D’Lo needing help to beat Testicle is not cool, especially from a jobber like Christian. Fire Christian please, and bring in Peter Sack to team with test. Peter & Testicles, the Total Sack.

I truly do hate The Rock, but him jobbing to Steiner is always ratings. And Rock was better in 2003 then anytime else, because at least now, he knew he was a sell out.

Yay for Right To Censor getting things of rolling. Al Snow just being on the show makes this Raw better than most. Really, he’s awesome, and he (and Head) would be a great fit for RTC, imo.

The Michaels/Jericho stuff was beefy goodness, even as a recap. I loved both of these boys at this time, and HBK was great in the beginnings of his comeback. Another multi-match is good stuff, and more of Michaels/Y2J is always good.

Thank the Lord you didn’t let negro lips Jacqueline become the #1 contender over Victoria. Victoria is the Queen Bee, and I’m shocked that I am remotely interested in the woman’s division.

Stacy = Hot. ‘Nuff said.

3MW~! MARK OUT! Really, I’m for real. Three Minute Warning was amazing, and to see them, Rico, Morley, Storm, and Regal fuck up the Dudley’s makes my day. However, remind me what a Fire Thunder Driver is, please. Boo for RVD & Kane breaking up the beat down. I love RVD & Kane, especially as a team, but I don’t know if they can compared to Three Minute Warning. I actually forgot about them in this BTB, tbh. Thank you for using them <3

Scott Steiner brings the ratings to Shinebox. True story. Good stuff between the two, just for it being BPP and Steiner making Rock look like a bitch, again.

Jeff/Christian was pretty much filler to me, and I’m glad that the Pot Head was able to make Christian a jobber, especially since one-half of The Total Sack helped punk Christian out.

Pretty sweet six-man tag match, and the ending was sweet tits to with that counter. And people say Kevin Nash can’t wrestle~! Good way to end the match in having HBK/Y2J doing their own thing, Maven looking solid, and Nash strong as can be. Nash deserves a World Title run, me thinks.

Yay for Molly Holly in the RTC. She fits it perfectly, and is a better wrestler than Ivory as well. Woot for RTC.

No shocker to see Goldberg run through Flair. Flair was best off as a manager, and I hope you make him one. Please don’t make flabby tits wrestle. But if you do… heart attack in the ring plz . Sweet tits on the ending too. Goldberg and Trips both get to look strong, albeit Goldy stronger.

Good stuff, Baobab, good stuff. Now stop being a whore and get back from your cruise.

'Rookie' mistakes spawned by a lack of concentration and any real motivation {going through the motions}. Hopefully, I can get my shit together...

Before I get much more emo than that, much thanks for the review, Szumi. Highly appreciated. Hopefully I can take a look around at some other BTBs and get a few comments up before the week is done.

As expected, lack of reviews cannot be helped. Seeing as I've been a lazy whore and not reviewed much the past two weeks.

Owell.

Looking bak at the highlights package from last week, there was definately far too much going on imo. Hopefully things will slow down a little this week.

Flair is next in the evolution line. Classic line from Goldberg imo. As long as it's mostly action and little words, you may end up with the best Goldberg EVER in a BTB. You've certainly got him up and running like a train, and although I'm not a Goldberg fan AT ALL, I do hope you keep his momentum going strong. Running through Flair tonight is a good start.

Not sure what the deal is with this push for D'Lo, but he's certainly on a roll. The Christian / Test scenario that started last week looks like it'll continue for a while yet.

Cant quite enjoy The Rock as much in recap form . Loving his feud with Steiner - and that's something I never expected to say.

Not liking the reformation of RTC, but it bolsters the tag division I guess, and no surprise they beat Snow and Dreamer. I do have to say, <3 the Censorship Rights name. Very catchy.

Jericho - Michaels II at Backlash?? Awesome. Personally, I thought you'd hold off for a little while longer, just to stretch the craving of the fans, but why not strike while the iron is hot?? Six man tonight gets a shrug from me. Very much a similar match to last week.

Thankfully Victoria wins, because I've never been a fan of Jug-queline. Trish vs Victoria is still a feud with issues that werent really settled, but now that I come to think about it, why wasnt there an explanation as to why Richards left Victoria?? I demand answers ... if you want to give them .

Starting to wonder where the Test / Christian feud is going, if anywhere, or if it's just filler to bolster Backlash.

So La Resistance are coming to Raw on April 28th. I dont care .

YEEE-HAWWW!!! 3 Minute Warning!!! They were a great gimmick for a tag team, and I'm glad you're going to be using them. Very much under utilised during their run together in the WWE. Spike getting blasted by Rico is awesome too. Kane and RVD get their mugs on screen to run the heels off, but I'm digging the focus being put on your tag team division at this point.

Terrific bit of promo with The Rock and Steiner. Brahma Bitch is a mark out line, reeking of pure awesomeness . Rocks takes a walk, because he doesnt want to hurt Steiner , and Renegade, I'm loving this awesome feud. Dont know how the hell you've managed it, but I'm liking the WWE style Steiner & Goldberg. WTF is going on with me???

Jeff beats Christian thanks to Test. Dont really have much interest in the issue between Christian and Test, so hopefully it can develop into something more interesting in the coming weeks. Prediction for next week though - Brown & Christian vs Jeff & Test .

Maven is definately getting the rub, teaming for a second time with Michaels and Nash. If I were Nash right now in this time period, I'd be looking at Goldberg and Steiner coming in and wondering why the fuck am I not getting anything decent to work with . Not complaining though, by this stage, he's just a 6'10 brittle, lumbering has been.

Nash pins Orton in the six man, which means Maven has two victories in a row to his name. That has to be a first, lol. It'd look like Nash and Orton could feud now, given that he's pinned Randy twice. I'm good at deciphering things like that. Call me smart, or someone who states the obvious .

Molly is so far the best fit in the RTC. Just not buying into Nowinski and Mack at the moment. Someone like Rico getting forced into the group, much like Godfather or Val in the past would work better imo. Molly joining ranks is a good move though.

Huh?? 'The main event between Goldberg and Batista is far from pretty, as Naitch is not what he used to be and Goldberg is no shining light in the ring himself.' Tut tut at the continuity error . Goldberg gets the obvious win, and he's rolling. And The Game cant get a sneak attack in either, getting caught off by Goldberg. You're booking Goldberg to a tee right now, which is awesome to see. Main event probably was a little long at 9 minutes imo. 5 would've been perfect for Goldberg to dominate.

Hard to say just how good the show was of course because of it's recapped-ness. By far though, this is the best booking I've seen from you in all your time on this forum. It's been great to read thus far, and like I said, you're the first to actually have me interested in Goldberg and Steiner. Goldberg has been an absolute revelation thus far. Hopefully you keep it up.

Reney’s RAW Comments

I know it’s a recap Reney, but I’ll still drop some comments. Hope the boat is going well you too, asshole <3

Logical way to kick off the show with a pissed off Evolution. I like the concept of Goldberg having to go through all of Evolution before he gets to Hunter. It definitely adds a bit of longevity to the angle, which is great. Flair is obviously going to get steam rolled tonight & I totally expect Goldberg to get the better of Evolution again in order to keep his momentum going strong.

Lol, your love for D Lo still makes me giggle. None the less, the talking point here is the Christian/Test thing. Nice to see that continue. Very good booking as D Lo gets to continue his momentum while Christian and Test’s little feud can continue.

The Rock is meh. I don’t like him much at the best of times. I hope Steiner kills him.

I really can’t get into the RTC. All it really does in my opinion is add a little depth to the Tag Division. As expected, they promptly squash Tommy and Snow. RTC’s finisher is pretty cool, hopefully you start to do something with them soon.

Good to see the Michaels/Jericho feud get some more hype and exposure. You’re doing a good job of it thus far and the rematch at Backlash should be grand. Jericho must win. Good segment to be honest but the 6 man tag is just to much like last week imo. I feel it could be just a method to get Nash on the show, perhaps?

I hate both of these females, so I really don’t care much about this match.

More Test/Christian hype, good shit. Stacey is hot btw.

Awesome hype for the tag division. This was a really great segment, my favourite of the show thus far to be honest. Three Minute Warning being bought in is cool since I never really got to see much of them but from what I have seen, I enjoyed. Great way for them to debut, having them kill the Dudleyz is great. RVD & Kane coming out to make the save was fair enough and it gives them a bit of time on the show however I think it would’ve been good to see 3MW try and bring the fight a little bit to the champions instead of run.

Steiner making The Rock look like a bitch is fucking excellent. I’m loving what you’re doing with this feud so far. Steiner is being booked wonderfully. Steiner win at Backlash plz.

More hype for Christian and Test. Good stuff, you’re booking it well. I like the fact that neither guy picked up a win this evening but they don’t look weak. Not quite sure as to what you’ll be doing with Jeff though.

Nash picks up his second victory over Orton in two weeks, clearly something more is going to come from that. Another victory for the faces comes as a bit of a surprise to me, I thought the heels would go over this week. This match really ended up being a lot more about Nash than anything else since Jericho and HBK paired off and did their own thing. Maven looks good for this too, he’s getting a good rub from Michaels and Nash. Big Sexy is looking very strong at the moment but I think he’ll have a brief feud with Orton for the moment.

Molly is now with RTC. Hm. Okay.

Decent little match recap here. Goldberg looks an absolute beast. I’m glad you’ve got Goldy’s match with Flair out of the way and I don’t particularly want to see it again I found it a little strange that Hunter was happy enough to watch on from ringside while Flair lost only to come in after he was defeated. I would’ve thought he’d come in for the DQ so full props for doing something different.

The conclusion was excellent though, good way to have Hunter maintain a little bit of credibility as well as keeping Goldberg look strong. I do however, think that we’ll see a beat down for Goldberg very soon. I must say you’re booking Goldberg very well, so hopefully you continue with it.

Overall, a good recap Reney. I enjoyed it. Things are developing towards Backlash nicely with obviously the Goldberg/Evolution storyline and Scott Steiner being the highlight. Hopefully you go back to full shows very soon but even still this show was good, obviously the booking of both shows have been excellent so far.

Raw Feedback

Sorry about the lateness

Annnnnnnnd Booker T's burial is well and truly underway. Bit of a shame really since he was more entertaining as big time face at this time than The 'Berg, Diesel or HBK. Oh well It's quite a surprise to see Goldberg going up against Evolution already. I'm not one for Jesus pushes. With Booker buried though, and Nash hopefully staying away from the World title, you don't really have much choice I guess. @ people saying Naitch has no credibility anymore. The man will always have credibility and should never be a jobber. Unfortunately, since 'Berg doesn't know how to do proper matches, it'll be a squash against Ric later.

Test and Christian picks up some more momentum, which is odd after CC's big win last week. I still can't buy into D'Lo Brown as a big WWE star, I'm sorry. I'm probably just being narow minded, but he was nothing special to me

Hollywood Rock still is the money, so I hope you milk it for all it's worth. Very funny line about falling out of the ring last week. I hope we get another showdown between him and Steiner tonight, because Big Poppa Pump needs to vent.

The Right To Censor came back last week? Oh that's right, it took about ten seconds Should have got more build in my opinion. Anywho, a push for a heel Stevie is plenty good enough. Going up against guys with an ECW Original gimmick workd well for these guys.

Oh right, so it was pretty much a squash match. I thought you maybe were going to make something of the contrasting gimmicks, but I guess not. Pretty cool finisher though from Nowinkski and Mack. Maybe they will grow on me ... you never know.

Thank god Y2J is getting this kind of exposure. The guy needs weekly promos, because, quite frankly, he is the most exciting thing on your show right now. I'm glad to see you are going the direction that the WWE should have and didn't go by keeping Michaels and Jericho locked in their {Awesome} feud for the time being. I'm hoping for a three match series personally, possibly culminating at SummerSlam? OWNED~!!! HBK got bitch slapped. I'm glad Easy E named the match for Backlash already, it's the only one I'm interested right now. Shawny needs to tap to the Walls Ugh, ANOTHER multi man tag match tonight? I overloaded on them last week.

That's right, Reney, you keep on pushing Victoria. She is the greatness in the ring in the Women's division. Trish as Champion and Vicky as challenger bodes well for you.

It seems pretty clear that some kind of retaliation is going to be coming Christian's way from Test tonight. Does CC have a match tonight? I can't remember.

This is kind of a cool feud you have going right now between The Dudleys and Chief Morley. No real surprise that the match never got started, but I loved the aftermath. 3MW were such an underrated team it was silly. Two very good big men and they do this kind of thing excellently. Rico was actually used well in this role as well, without the campness. Brutal beat down, and it seems as though the lines have been drawn with Morley's establishment goons of Storm/Regal and 3MW against The Dudleys and RVD/Kane. Pretty nice.

Why is Maven talking to Trish? Is a love angle coming from this? Am I reading too much into this? Am I asking too many questions? Probably Vicky/Trish feud is money though.

Ha ha, I love this business between Rocky and the Freakzilla already after two weeks. I'm glad that Rock actually got the chance to get the better of Steiner tonight after the way he got beat up last week. "BRAHMA BITCH" Awesome. Steiner's insults are golden. Chicken shit Rocky is the best Rocky, so I'm glad he ducked out of the ring. Are we going to get this match at Backlash? Who CARES??!! The match will suck. This is just a promo feud ... and a good one.

Oh right, so Christian does have a match tonight. Looks like Jeff has been given a little promotion after jobbing to D'Lo last week. It doesn't really hurt the credibility of either Test or Christian to have them lose this week, as it was done for STORYLINE purposes. Some people don't get that.

Nash and HBK need to stay away from the WHC picture for a good while I think. Michaels is entertaining enough with the King of the World himself {Y2J makes everyone entertaining}, and Nash, well, isn't a very good wrestler anymore Maven's getting a really nice rub from these two guys as well.

Wow, the six man certainly seemed better than the clusterfuck last week. I can definately now see you throwing Orton/Nash onto the Backlash card for the Legend Killer gimmick as you felt it important enough to mention the fact that Big Kev has pinned Randy twice in two weeks. Revenge at Backlash me thinks? Another great rub for Maven. The moment you decide to bring the Intercontinental title back, he'll be right in the picture I reckon.

Well I'm glad Molly didn't just agree to join the RTC immediately. That would make it seem as though Stevie has mind control abilities or something. She plays the heel well so she'll make quite a nice addition.

"Ric Flair is far from pretty" Any time Naitch is the ring it's something worth watching. Gutting to see Ric black and blue by Goldberg tonight, but obviously 'Berg is being pushed like a beast so he'll be squashing Naitch, Orton and Big Dave repeatedly in the next few weeks I'm sure. I still don't think we'll get Goldberg/Hunter at Backlash. Waaaayyyyyy too soon for me, and I think you agree. Possibly some kind of tag match instead?

Sorry again about the lateness of this review, mate. Been busy. Good show though, with Y2J, the Tag Team mayhem, and The Rock being the stand outs

I think the next RAW will have to be recapped, but the final show before Backlash SHOULD be in full. Thanks for the recap comments IC nigz.

<3 will be returned in the next few days.

Can't wait for MacDown! Version 2 imo....
