Should have reviews for Naitch's SummerSlam and Wolfy's recaps {and a few more} later on in the week. As for the show...

Pardon the shitty match recaps (outside of the first match) really just wanted to get this show up, and get kickin' (as all the kids are saying). The show's decent enough, imo. I like how the characters of Angle, Team Angle, Steph, and a couple of others turned out; not so much with a few others. Anyway, enough yap. Enjoy.

SmackDown!; April 3rd, 2003; Spokane, Washington

As is custom for the shows immediately post-Mania, we’re treated to a recap of the SmackDown! half of the card, which saw Team Angle def. Benoit & Rhyno and Los Guerreros to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles; Matt Hardy def. Rey Mysterio to retain the Cruiserweight Title; The Undertaker def. Both The Big Show and A-Train with the help of Nathan Jones; Hulk Hogan def. Vince McMahon in a match 20 years in the making; Brock Lesnar def. Kurt Angle to become the NEW WWE Champion.

After the video, we’re treated to the usual SmackDown! Opening video, followed by the customary pyro, before we’re whisked around the arena, taking a look at the thousands of screaming fans, before we come to the announce table, where Tazz and Cole sit.

Michael Cole: Hello everyone and welcome to SmackDown! Michael Cole here with my broadcast colleague, Tazz. And, partner, we are just four days removed from the biggest WrestleMania of all time, WrestleMania 19.

Tazz: We thought WrestleMania night would be huge, and it didn’t disappoint. Some big-time wars, some big-time moments, and overall ginormous event, and it all starts at the top with the WWE Championship.

Michael Cole: And when it was all said and done, Brock Lesnar went on to capture the WWE Championship, defeating Kurt Angle, who took three F5s before he finally went down for the count. And tonight on SmackDown!, Brock Lesnar speaks on his WWE Title win.

Tazz: And we know that Kurt Angle doesn’t have a guaranteed rematch clause, so you can bet the farm that Angle is gonna be watching what Brock has to say very carefully.

Michael Cole: Also tonight, Rey Mysterio is in action, taking on Shannon Moore, and if Mysterio can pick up the victory, he will earn another shot at the Cruiserweight Championship next week on SmackDown! Also, Stephanie McMahon, SmackDown!’s general manager, makes TWO huge announcement here tonight.

Tazz: But up next, Los Guerreros take on Chris Benoit and Rhyno! This one should be a good one.

Match #1 - LOS GUERREROS vs. CHRIS BENOIT & RHYNO
The post-WrestleMania festivities start off with the two losing teams in the WWE Tag Team Title triple threat from last Sunday night, Los Guerreros and Chris Benoit/Rhyno, going at it. Considering the talent involved, it’s no shocker that this is a solid contest. Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero kick off the match up. The two superstars chain wrestle for a bit, before going to the inevitable standoff, which gets a strong pop from the sold-out crowd. Eddie extends his hand to Benoit, and Chris goes to accept it, but Guerrero shows his craftiness, catching The Wolverine with a thumb to the eye!
Los Guerreros dominates the next few minutes, with quick tags in and out, keeping the fresh man, while keeping the fiery Benoit isolated. Rhyno cheers his teammate on, while the crafty veterans effectively keep Benoit away from him. Finally, eight minutes into the match up, Benoit manages to catch the legal man, Chavo, with a nasty enzuigiri to the side of the head, taking him down! After several seconds on the ground, both The Crippler and Chavo make the tag to their respective partners, and in comes The Man Beast and Latino Heat!
Eddie and Rhyno enter the ring, and it’s Rhyno who gains the immediate advantage, taking Eddie down with a clothesline. Guerrero gets back up, and Rhyno takes him back down with another … and then another, on a roll. Rhyno lifts Eddie back up to his feet, and shoots him off the ropes, catching Latino Heat with a back body drop once he comes back! Rhyno pounds his chest with aggression, getting a mixed reaction from the crowd, but The Man Beast is soon taken down with a shot to the back by Chavo!
Chavito taunts the fallen superstar … until Chris Benoit wraps his arms around his waist, and takes him over with a German suplex! Benoit keeps his hands locked up, and eventually drills Eddie’s nephew with two more German suplexes, completing the trifecta! Benoit lifts Chavo up to his feet, before he charges forward, and tosses Chavito over the top rope, down to the floor! The Crippler exits the ring {the proper way} and mounts Chavo, before reigning down right hands on his face!
Inside the ring, Latino Heat and Rhyno, who are back up to their feet, go back at one another. It’s Guerrero who gains the advantage, catching Rhyno with a boot to the gut. Eddie then grabs a hold of his fellow ECW alumnus, and hits a vertical suplex! Guerrero holds on and swivels his hips, bringing both back up to their feet. Guerrero repeats the process, suplex and comeback, and then goes for it once more … but Rhyno blocks it! The Man Beast then knees Guerrero into the gut, before tossing him onto his shoulder! Rhyno then charges forward and PLANTS Eddie with a running power slam!!
On the outside, Benoit grabs Chavo, and brings him up to his feet. The Crippler attempts to shoot Chavo into the steel steps, but Chavo counters, and sends Benoit shoulder first into the STEEL STEPS!! Back on the inside, Rhyno backs into the corner, and waits on Eddie to get back up to his feet. Latino Heat staggers back up to his feet, and Rhyno charges - LOOKING FOR THE GORE!!! … AND HITS IT!!! … ON CHAVO!!!
Chavito saves the day by taking the blow for his Uncle Eddie, who quickly capitalizes by grabbing Rhyno from behind, and rolls him up in a school boy!! 1... 2... {Eddie grabs a hold of the tights} …3!!
Winners - Los Guerreros via pin fall at 10:21.

After the three count, Eddie quickly rolls out of the ring, grabbing his nephew on the way out, and pulls him out as well. Los Guerreros smile and celebrate as they back up the ramp, Chavo holding his gut, while back on the inside of the ring, Rhyno shakes his head in disappointment.

Tazz: Tough loss for Rhyno and Benoit, but once again, Los Guerreros lyin’, cheatin’, and stealin’ their way to a victory here tonight.

Michael Cole: Ha-ha, it’s a family motto, partner. But coming up next, a big announcement from SmackDown! General Manager Stephanie McMahon!

Tazz: I wonder what it is!?

Michael Cole:
I don’t have the slightest idea, Tazz … but it’s NEXT!

{Commercials}

Backstage, inside of her office, SmackDown! GM Stephanie McMahon, dressed in a smart black suit, sits behind her desk, facing the hard camera with a smirk.

Stephanie McMahon: As all of you, the loyal viewers of SmackDown!, know, and as was clearly proven last Sunday night at WrestleMania 19, the ‘blue brand’ of World Wrestling Entertainment is clearly the greatest brand in ALL of sports entertainment. But, much like everything I do, being the best isn’t the finish of the race … it’s simply the beginning. Staying on the top is what SmackDown! is all about. And getting to the top should be what all of my SmackDown! superstars should aspire to. And THAT goal, THAT aim is the reason …
I am bringing back the WWE United States Championship to SmackDown!. The United States Championship is one of the most prestigious titles in wrestling’s grand history, held by the greats of this business - Harley Race … ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes … ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair … Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart … Stone Cold Steve Austin. Even current great superstars such as Booker T and Kurt Angle have held the U.S. Title. And soon enough, another superstar will be added to its storied lineage. Starting two weeks from tonight, an eight man tournament will begin right here on SmackDown!. At SmackDown!’s first brand-exclusive pay-per-view, Judgment Day on May 18th, the finals of that tournament will commence, and the winner of that match will be your new United States Champion … Thank you.

Stephanie lets out her trademark smirk, as we cut away, after hearing major announcement #1.

Back to ringside.

Michael Cole: Unbelievable news! The return of the United States Championship! That’s HUGE news for us, partner. And I’ve just gotten word that we have the brackets for this title tournament.

The brackets are put up on the titantron …

Eddie Guerrero vs. ???
The Big Show vs. Rhyno

Chris Benoit vs. A-Train
Chavo Guerrero vs. John Cena

Michael Cole: Some exciting match ups and some very intriguing match ups that we could see down the line here, Tazz.

Tazz: That first round is stacked. First off, we don’t even know who Eddie Guerrero is gonna face!! Tough break for Latino Heat. But after that, it’s powa’ versus MORE powa’, ‘The Man Beast’ Rhyno versus The Big Show. Also, Chris Benoit versus the A-Train, and Chavo Guerrero versus my man, ha-ha, ‘The Doctor of Thuganomics’ John Cena.

Michael Cole: That means in the United States tournament finals at Judgment Day, we could possibly see uncle versus nephew, Eddie versus Chavo, or partner versus partner, Chris Benoit versus Rhyno!

Tazz: Or The Big Show versus A-Train! This is gonna be huge.

Michael Cole: And it starts in just two weeks. But as for tonight, John Cena looks to rev up for that huge tournament and --

***BASIC THUGANOMICS***

The rap music of SmackDown!’s brightest young superstar hits to a solid reaction, appreciably mixed, as John Cena steps out onto the stage, dressed in his jean shorts and a white Dallas Cowboys jersey (owned). Cena scowls at the crowd, before raising up the ‘Word Life’ sign to heat, and continues on down to the ring. The Doctor rolls in, and eyes up his opponent, Rikishi, who already waits.

Match #2 - JOHN CENA vs. RIKISHI
Still pissed about being left off of the WrestleMania 19 card, and possibly looking to make a statement before the U.S. Title tournament, Cena starts out quick, looking to put the ‘Kish away early. It’s a no-go, however, as Rikishi puts up one hell of a fight, fending Cena’s furious offense off with his veteran know-how.
Rikishi’s tenacity can’t change the outcome, though, as Cena shows some incredible power towards the end of the match, and lifts Rikishi onto his shoulders in a fireman’s carry position. Cena then drops the big man ‘on’ his head with a DEATH VALLEY DRIVER!! Cole and Tazz hype the move as his new finishing maneuver, the FU, his message to WWE management, as Cena covers Rikishi, hooking the far leg for the three count.
Winner - John Cena via pinfall at 6:01.

Cena rolls to another victory, continuing to establish himself as a force on SmackDown!, and more importantly, picks up momentum heading into the United States Title tournament.

{Commercials}

Match #3 - SHANNON MOORE vs. REY MYSTERIO
The third match of the night pits the little MF’er, Shannon Moore {w/Cruiserweight Champion Matt Hardy}, against Rey Mysterio, with the stipulation stating that if Mysterio wins, he gets another title shot against Hardy NEXT WEEK on SmackDown!. Moore and Mysterio rip it up, putting on a hell of a match up for the time allotted, with only minimal Hardy interference … until it looks like Rey may pull out the victory. At the nine minute mark, Mysterio drills Moore with the 619, but once he goes for the West Coast Pop, Hardy pushes him off the top rope, causing the DQ finish.
Winner - Rey Mysterio via disqualification at 7:37.

Mysterio earns his title shot, but he pays for it, as Hardy enters the ring, and drills Rey with the title belt!! The beating isn’t over though. Hardy lifts Mysterio up to his feet, before he drops him back down with a TWIST OF FATE on the title belt!! Matt lifts his title belt in the air, letting out a loud “V ONE-AHHH” to big-time heat from the crowd.

Cut backstage.

Inside of their cushy locker room, Team Angle, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin sit on a leather couch, with their tag team title belts draped over the opposite ends of it. Neither man looks particularly jovial, with their heads down, in stark contrast to what one would assume would be a happy occasion - only several days removed from retaining their WWE Tag Team Championships. The two stars lift their heads up, and shyly glare across the room. The camera pans across the room, and we see what the problem is … as FORMER WWE Champion Kurt Angle sits on the opposite couch.

Angle, head in hands, soon lifts his head up, glaring at his protégés.

Kurt Angle: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TWO LOOKIN’ AT!?!?

Benjamin and Haas quickly look away as Angle gets up from the couch in frustration, and wipes his mouth, attempting to gather his thoughts. Kurt finally calms down.

Kurt Angle: Charlie, try to get Paul Heyman on the phone one more time, and ask him why in the hell I don’t have a damn rematch clause for the WWE Championship!

Haas gets up …

Kurt Angle: THEN, ask him what the hell he’s doing to get me ANOTHER TITLE SHOT!

Haas nods …

Kurt Angle: AND THEN, after all of that, ask him … WHERE THE HELL HE IS!!

Haas waits for Angle to say something else ... Angle looks at Charlie as if he has a third eye.

Kurt Angle: GO!!

Haas reaches into his jacket and grabs his cell phone, before quickly exiting the room.

Kurt Angle: Shelton, come here.

Benjamin gets up from his seat, as Angle seems to tone it down a bit.

Kurt Angle: Since I don’t have a guaranteed rematch … we’ve gotta be proactive. I’m not gonna be the only person out there looking for a WWE Title shot.

The camera pans back and the scene begins to fade as Angle continues to talk to Benjamin about his plan for tonight.

{Commercials}

***VOODOO CHILD***

A thunderous ovation fills the arena for the one and only ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan who walks out onto the stage, limping a bit after his brutal war with Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 19. Dressed in a leather jacket, black pants, shades and his Hulkamania shirt and bandana, Hogan takes a long look around the arena, nodding at the incredibly appreciative crowd here tonight. The biggest icon in wrestling continues on down to the ring and finally steps in, calling for a microphone. He gets one as his music begins to die down.

Hulk Hogan:
You kn-

Massive “HOGAN” chants ring out around the arena, cutting Hollywood off. Hogan looks very humble as he looks around the arena in appreciation. Thirty seconds into the chant, the crowd shows no signs of quieting down, continuing to roar for Hogan. Hulk takes his glasses off and continues to watch this raucous crowd with a gleam in his eye. Finally, Hogan holds the microphone up, symbolically telling the fans he has something to say, but the audience couldn’t care less, continuing to cheer for their hero. Finally, two minutes into the incredible standing ovation, Hogan realizes we’ve gotta get a move on, and speaks.

Hulk Hogan: WELL LET ME TELL YA SOMETHING, BROTHER!!

The audience ERUPTS once more as Hogan nods. Another “HOGAN” chant starts up, but Hulk speaks up, before it can go on too long.

Hulk Hogan: Y’know, last Sunday night, WrestleMania 19, Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington, Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon {boos} went to war inside the squared circle, brother. Twenty years in the making, my career on the line, on the line, and not only did I WIN that match --

Crowd cheers.

Hulk Hogan: But I busted Vince McMahon WIDE open, dropped him with the leg drop, which means that the Vin Man now knows that Hulkamania can’t be stopped, dude!

Another huge pop for Hogan.

Hulk Hogan: Now, Vince McMahon isn’t here tonight --

Crowd cheers as Hogan nods.

Hulk Hogan: So with Vinnie Mac out of the way, it’s time for me and my Hulkamaniacs to get back to business, and The Hulkster’s business right now … is on the WWE Championship!!

Crowd cheers.

Hulk Hogan: It’s been a long time since I had that big gold belt around my waist. And after all of the World Championships, the WWE Championships, the WCW Championships, after all of the accolades, after all of the great, classic matches - matches with the Macho Man --

Crowd cheers.

Hulk Hogan: Matches with The Ultimate Warrior, matches with The Undertaker --

Big pop.

Hulk Hogan: Matches with “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair … matches with Triple H … Kurt Angle … The Rock --

Mixed reaction for all four of those names.

Hulk Hogan: Matches with … the current champion, big, bad Brock Lesnar --

Nice pop for Brock, while Hogan somewhat scrunches his face, unimpressed.

Hulk Hogan: Even AFTER all of that, after the gallons of blood that I’ve lost in this ring, all of the surgeries, I still want the opportunity to step into this ring, win that WWE Championship, and say that Hulk Hogan is the best … wrestler … around today, brother!!

The crowd eats all of this up … because he’s Hulk Hogan, to be honest. Hogan, never one to shy away from the attention, puts the mic down and plays to the crowd, cupping his ear to a huge pop, as another loud “HOGAN” chant starts up. It eventually dies down, however, and Hogan continues.

HHulk Hogan: So I’ve got to ask big, bad Brock Lesnar, I’ve gotta ask Kurt Angle, I’ve gotta ask everybody in the WWE Championship picture … Whatcha gonna do, brother?

Crowd joins in as Hogan smiles.

Hulk Hogan: WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN HULK HOGAN AND ALL MY HULKAMANIACS RUN WILD … ON .. YOU!?!?! WHATCHA GONNA DO!?!?!

Hogan drops the mic to an enormous ovation and his music hits once more and he begins posing for the rabid fans.

???: {Clears throat}

The attention of The Immortal One and every fan in the arena turns to the entrance ramp, where the noise came from. The crowd soon lets out some big-time heat as … TEAM ANGLE, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas, walk out onto the stage, WWE Tag Team Titles on their shoulders. Dressed in their workout gear, Team Angle seem unimpressed with the icon in the ring, and Shelton has microphone in hand.

Shelton Benjamin: What’s that, Hulk? Did I--

Major “YOU SUCK” chants ring out, causing Benjamin and Haas to look at the crowd in frustration. Hogan nods his head with the chants, even cupping his ear, before Shelton continues.

Shelton Benjamin: Did I hear you say that you were throwing your name back into the WWE Title picture?

Hogan nods; Benjamin and Haas laugh.

Shelton Benjamin: Isn’t there some kind of age requirement on the WWE Title? Don’t you have to be under 80 years old to compete? Can’t afford to have our WWE Champion with a broken hip, now can we?

The crowd boos and Hogan rolls his eyes as Benjamin and Haas laugh at Shelton’s lame lines. Haas takes the mic.

Charlie Haas: The fact is, you shouldn’t even bother with trying to get a WWE Title Match, Hogan, because if you were to get a shot at Brock Lesnar, it would be only a matter of time before the greatest wrestler in the history of this sport took the belt BACK, Kurt Angle!!

Boos for Angle, as Team Angle claps in appreciation. Hogan rests against the top rope, waiting for them to continue.

Charlie Haas: I think you remember what happened the last time you and Kurt Angle stepped into this ring … you … tapped … out.

Crowd boos as Hogan’s had just about enough.

Hulk Hogan: If you two greenhorns are just about finished, let me remind the two of you that last Sunday night, I won my match, and your boy, Kurt Angle, wound up flat on his back, jack!

Crowd pops.

Hulk Hogan: And as for you two dudes, if you think I’m so washed up, why don’t you come down to this ring and find out for yourselves!

The crowd once more roars for Hogan as Hollywood takes off his jacket and tosses it over the top rope, calling for Team Angle to come on down to the ring.

Haas and Benjamin look at one another, before ripping off their workout jackets and placing their titles down. The two young superstars jog on down to the ring, before they split up, each man taking opposite sides of the ring.

Knowing he’s probably fucked, Hogan grabs Haas the second he gets on the apron! Benjamin quickly enters the ring and attacks Hogan from behind, taking him down!! The WWE Tag Team Champions go to work stomping away on the iconic superstar. The fans pour on the heat, until a “HOGAN” chant builds … but it’s of no use, with the numbers advantage clearly too much for Hulk…

***DEADMAN WALKIN’***

The crowd EXPLODES as THE UNDERTAKER walks down the entrance ramp and towards the ring, looking all business. The Deadman shows no fear, stepping into the ring, and cause Team Angle to immediately scatter, sliding out of the ring.

The crowd boos as Benjamin and Haas back up the entrance ramp, with The Undertaker’s eyes locked on them. Hogan slowly gets back up to his feet and looks at Taker skeptically. The Phenom looks back at Hogan, showing no real emotion, before he leaves the ring, heading back up the ramp.

{Commercials}

Back from the break, Josh Matthews stands by with microphone in hand.

Josh Matthews: What a wild night it’s been on SmackDown!, but ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time {gulps}, the man who - along with A-Train - wound up on the losing end of a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 19, The Big Show.

The crowd lets out a decent amount of heat as The Big Show walks into screenshot, not looking too pleased, as he towers over Matthews.

Josh Matthews: And, Show, one of the reasons you wound up on the wrong end of that match last Sunday night, was due to your opponent tonight, Nathan Jones. Show, I just wanted to get your thoughts on this whole situation, as well as your feelings on being in the United States Championship tournament announced for two weeks from tonight.

The Big Show: Let’s get one … thing … straight. I didn’t lose that match at WrestleMania, the A-Train lost that match. And more importantly than that, I would’ve WON that match if it wasn’t for Nathan Jones, I would’ve crushed The Undertaker if it wasn’t for Nathan Jones. There isn’t anybody on the planet that can stand toe to toe with me in the squared circle, and people will find that out in the weeks to come. Eddie Guerrero will find that out, Chavo Guerrero will find that out, John Cena and Chris Benoit will find that out, and Rhyno will find that out in two weeks, when I crush him and take the first step to putting that United States Title around my waist. Tonight … I start the madness … I start the annihilation … by grabbing Nathan Jones … and crushing him with my cold … bare … hands.

Show spends a couple of seconds, glaring at the camera with intensity, before he walks off, leaving a scared Matthews.

Back to ringside.

Match #4 - TAJIRI vs. FUNAKI
The building process for Tajiri begins, getting himself a squash match against SmackDown!’s number one announcer. Funaki isn’t completely bitched out, but as close as one can get to it. Midway through the match, Tajiri locks in the Tarantuala to a nice pop, before he finishes Funaki off later on, with a vicious Buzzsaw Kick.
Winner - Tajiri via pinfall at 4:22.

Cut backstage.

The Undertaker walks down a backstage hallway, getting a nice pop from the crowd. Taker soon comes to a complete stop, as he intently looks in front of him. The camera soon pans over to show Hulk Hogan. The two mega legends eye up one another for what seems like an eternity, before Hogan decides to break the silence.

Hulk Hogan: Look, dude, I don’t know why you did what you did out there tonight … but I just want to let you know that I appreciate you having my back out there.

The Undertaker: And I just want to let YOU know that I didn’t come out to that ring to “have your back”. All I did was send a message to Kurt Angle. Because make no mistake about it, those two boys were out there on behalf of Angle to take you out of the WWE Title picture. And if they did that to you, then they would come after the big dog next. And I’ll be damned if I let Kurt Angle decide what happens in my yard.

Hogan nods in agreement, stroking his beard.

Hulk Hogan: Well, no matter why you did it, I’m grateful. Thanks.

Hogan extends his hand to The Phenom. Taker looks at Hogan’s hand, and then looks back at Hulk’s face.

The Undertaker: No problem.

Hogan scrunches up his face with a bit of a smirk, as Taker walks by.

The Undertaker: But watch your back, I’m not always gonna be there to save your ass.

Hogan watches as Taker walks further and further down the hallway as bad as can be. Hulk gives a bit of a nod, before walking in the opposite direction.

{Commercials}

Match #5 - THE BIG SHOW vs. NATHAN JONES
To no one’s shock, this match is far from pretty, as Show and Jones slug it out with a slug-like pace. But to the surprise of many fans, the mini-push that Jones has been on the receiving end of for the last couple of months comes to a crashing halt, when The Big Show ducks out of the way of a big, spinning back kick, and grabs Jones around the throat, before planting him with the choke slam for the three count!!
Winner - The Big Show at 5:49.

Show raises his hands in the air to some big heat after - much like John Cena did earlier - making a statement before the United States Title tournament begins in a couple of weeks.

Cut backstage.

Kurt Angle storms down a hallway, Team Angle by his side, looking a bit anxious. Angle finally reaches the door which reads ‘Stephanie McMahon’. Kurt turns to Benjamin and Haas.

Kurt Angle: Stay here.

The two young superstars nod as Angle takes a deep breath and puts on a fake smile, before he walks through the door.

Kurt Angle: Steph! How ya doin’?

Stephanie, who’s sitting at her desk, looks up at the Olympian with clear skepticism.

Stephanie McMahon: What do you want, Kurt?

Kurt Angle: Nothing special. Just checking up on an old friend.

Stephanie McMahon: Nothing special?

Kurt Angle: Yeah, nothing big, just wanted to see how you’re doin’. Chat a bit.

Steph stares at Angle for a bit, who attempts to look as genuine as possible. Stephanie then lets out a smirk.

Stephanie McMahon:
Have a seat.

Kurt takes a seat in the seat on the opposite side of the desk.

Stephanie McMahon:
What did you want to talk about? Wouldn’t want to talk about a title shot, would ya?

Kurt acts confused.

Kurt Angle: Title? … What title? … OH! You mean the WWE Championship? Wow, you know, I hadn’t been thinking about the championship at all. Last thing on my mind, Steph.

Stephanie McMahon:
Good … because I’m not handing you a rematch.

Angle’s smile fades, and his face scrunches up with anger as Stephanie looks right at him.

Kurt Angle: What!? Why the hell not!?

Stephanie McMahon: Did you think I would give you a shot after that stunt you just had your boys pull out there?

Kurt Angle: I- I had nothing to do with that out there! I can’t help what Shelton and Charlie do. They’re grown men. I --

Stephanie McMahon: Enough, Kurt. You’ve got my answer.

Angle slams his hand against the desk with authority, clearly frustrated. He gets up from his seat and walks towards the door … before slowly turning around, and speaks rather dejectedly.

Kurt Angle: What do I have to do to get a title shot?

Stephanie looks at Angle … and sighs … before speaking.

Stephanie McMahon: You get Lesnar to push for you, I’ll strongly consider giving you a title shot. Good enough?

Angle shakes his head.

Kurt Angle:
How the hell am I gonna do that?

Stephanie McMahon:
Goodbye, Kurt.

Stephanie goes back to whatever she was doing at her desk before Angle walked in, as the Olympian shakes his head once more, and heads out of the office, where Team Angle waits.

Kurt Angle: I shouldn’t have to do crap like this! Where the hell is Heyman!? What good is an agent you can’t freakin’ find!?

Angle and company head down the hall as we fade out.

{Commercials}

Michael Cole: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to SmackDown!. We’ve already had an incredible night, with Brock Lesnar making his first speech since his WrestleMania 19 win coming up a little bit later on, as well as a HUGE announcement from SmackDown! General Manager. But, Tazz, what about the announcement Stephanie McMahon has already made!?

Tazz: No doubt, no doubt, already a huge announcement from the boss. Starting in two weeks, an eight man tournament to crown a NEW United States Champion. Chris Benoit versus A-Train, John Cena versus Chavo Guerrero, The Big Show versus Rhyno, and Eddie Guerrero takes on a mystery opponent.

Michael Cole: And we’ll find out who that mystery man is next week in a mega eight man tag team match! All of the U.S. Tourney competitors will be in the ring at the same time - Eddie & Chavo Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Rhyno on one team. The Big Show, A-Train, ‘The Doctor of Thuganomics’ John Cena, and the mystery man on the other side of the ring. Huge implications in that match up next week.

Tazz: And don’t forget, we already have a title match set up for next week! Matt Hardy defends against Rey Mysterio in a WrestleMania 19 rematch!

Michael Cole: Tremendous show set up for next week, but as for right now, we’ve just gotten word that Stephanie McMahon’s major announcement is in the form of a video package. So, uh, here we go!

A video package plays.

Narrator: In the last several years, no man has raised more controversy …

A shadowy figure walks down a dark hallway, away from the camera.

Narrator: No man has shocked us …

The same individual stops walking, and turns toward the camera; still can’t make out a face.

Narrator: Left us in amazement …

The camera moves closer and closer through the darkness and towards the man’s face.

Narrator: No man has represented the WWE’s attitude more than … …

The video cuts off.

???:
Cut that crap off!

The crowd lets out a tremendous amount of heat as, in place of the video, Mr. McMahon appears on the titantron. Much like in Stephanie McMahon’s earlier announcement, Vinnie Mac faces the hard camera, clearly in an office of sorts. McMahon, scowl on his face, huge bandage on his forehead, speaks.

Mr. McMahon:
I don’t know what the video was for, and quite frankly, I don’t care. Because last Sunday night, in the event that I BUILT, that I CREATED, I was … beaten. I was … bloodied by the same man that tried to put me out of business, the same man that tried to defame my name, tried to put me behind bars - TESTIFIED AGAINST ME - that no-good Hulk Hogan!

Crowd cheers for Hogan as McMahon takes a deep breath.

Mr. McMahon:
But …

McMahon holds his head in pain, as if overcoming the pain of a headache.

Mr. McMahon: What’s done is done, and that’s no longer where my problem lies. I know a lot of people expected me to address this sold-out crowd here tonight, but when I arrived in the arena, imagine my surprise when I find out that my time to speak had been removed so my daughter could make one of her huge announcements! I take disrespect from all of the idiotic fans, but I will NOT take it from my own daughter, one of my own employees. Someone who came FORTH from my grapefruits, and would not be able to sustain her cost of living without the paychecks that I sign each and every week! Therefore, next week right here on SmackDown!, in that … very … ring, Stephanie, you’ve got some explaining to do.

McMahon now smiles evilly.

Mr. McMahon:
And if I don’t like the answers … (speaks softly) you’re fired.

Vince gets up from his seat, and storms off.

Note: I'm not even sure if the McMahon-grapefruit line fits with the rest of the speech, but I loved it so. ~__________~

Elsewhere…

Backstage, the new WWE Champion Brock Lesnar walks down a hallway, title on his shoulder. Tazz and Cole hype up Lesnar addressing the crowd, next.

{Commercials}

***HERE COMES THE PAIN***

The crowd gets onto its feet and lets out a strong pop as the NEW WWE Champion BROCK LESNAR steps out onto the stage. Wearing sweats, an ‘F5’ T-shirt, with the WWE Championship on his shoulder, Lesnar looks around the arena, taking it all in, before he continues on down to the ring. ‘The Pain’ tosses his title into the ring and then leaps onto the ring apron, setting off his pyro from all four corners. The champ steps into the ring, picks up the belt and asks for a microphone. He’s soon handed one by Tony Chimel as his music dies down.

Brock Lesnar: It took longer than I wanted it to, it took a lot of different twists and turns, screw jobs, the whole nine … but the fact of the matter is Brock Lesnar is standing here tonight as YOUR … NEW … WWE CHAMPION!!

The crowd roars as Brock takes the title belt off of his shoulder and raises it into the air with a smile. Lesnar brings the belt down before he brings the mic back up and speaks again.

Brock Lesnar: Last Sunday night, WrestleMania 19, Kurt Angle and myself … we put it all on the line for twenty-five minutes. We put it all on the line for this {rubs title belt}, we put it all on the line for the WWE Championship, and once it was all said and done … I walked out the winner.

Another pop from the sold-out crowd. Lesnar, however, isn’t as enthusiastic, as he paces back and forth in the ring, before he brings the mic back up.

Brock Lesnar: But as I stare at this … championship belt on my shoulder, I have to ask myself … “Was it worth it?”.

‘The Pain’ continues to pace in the ring, as the crowd murmers a bit.

Brock Lesnar: Was it worth it? These past few months have been nothing short of a living hell. The man who brought me into this business, the man who brought me into this company, Paul Heyman --

Big heat for Paul E. which cuts Lesnar off for a moment.

Brock Lesnar: Paul Heyman screwed me over for a chance to represent the man he thought was best equipped to hold this WWE Championship. The Big Show was ready to crush me in half for the chance to hold onto this title. Kurt Angle did EVERYTHING in his control to keep … this … WWE Championship.

Lesnar shakes his head, stopping for a sec, before he brings the mic back up to his mouth.

Brock Lesnar: And it all came to a head last Sunday night. At WrestleMania, I was Angle Slammed, I was suplexed, I was put into the Ankle Lock, I gave F5s, I FLEW half way across this ring and LANDED right on my FACE, gave myself a damn concussion, could’ve ended up paralyzed or even WORSE, and I did it all … to win this WWE Championship!! Kurt Angle and I killed each other … just for this belt … a piece of gold and leather!! So I ask again … WAS IT WORTH IT?!

Lesnar angrily glares ahead into the hard camera, before his vision shifts to the championship belt on his shoulder. Brock then lifts his head up and … lets out a smirk, before laughing a bit.

Brock Lesnar: Ya’ damn right it was worth it.

The crowd cheers as Lesnar backs up a bit.

Brock Lesnar: It was worth every drop of sweat, it was worth every ounce of blood, every broken bone, every busted rib, every lost agent, every tough match, I’d do every last bit of it again, because here I stand the absolute BEST that this business has to offer, the single most dominant superstar in this company, and this championship on my shoulder proves it!

Another pop for The Vanilla Gorilla.

Brock Lesnar: There is NOTHING that can --

***MEDAL***

The attention of the champion and the audience turns to the entrance stage, as the FORMER WWE Champion KURT ANGLE steps out onto the stage in his warmup gear, glare on his face, and microphone in hand. The boos from the crowd immediately begin to pour in for the Olympic gold medalist as Kurt’s music dies down. Angle brings the mic up.

Kurt Angle: Brock --

The Olympian is almost immediately cut off by a “You Suck” chant. Lesnar lets out a bit of a smirk, as Angle drops the mic and glares at the hostile crowd, before he brings the mic up to his mouth.

Kurt Angle: SHUT THE HELL UP!!

Of course, the crowd doesn’t shut up and, instead, gets nothing but louder, causing Angle to continue to bitch.

Kurt Angle: I’m trying to have a freakin’ conversation, so … could you show a little respect!? Jeez!

More boos for the former champion. Angle shakes off the crowd and brings the mic back up.

Kurt Angle: Brock … you’re absolutely right. This business … the profession that we’ve chosen to do … is one … of sacrifice. And I’ve sacrificed it ALL for a chance to carry THAT championship that you’ve got on your shoulder right now.

Angle pauses and Brock looks at his championship belt, before he looks back up, nodding at the Olympian.

Kurt Angle: And, Brock, I can honestly say that last Sunday night … you were the better man. Yeah, you were the better man at WrestleMania 19. But you know what else? … … … ... WHOOP-DE-FREAKIN’-DOO!!

Lesnar smiles and the audience boos as Angle looks around the arena comically & quizzically.

Kurt Angle: You’re better than Kurt Angle one night and now, you’re the best in the business, you’re the best in the world, the most dominant superstar in this company? What? You want us to throw you a freakin’ parade?

More boos for Kurt as Lesnar shakes his head, paying the former champion no real mind.

Kurt Angle: You don’t become the best wrestler around by being lucky for ONE night. No, you become the best when you do it EVERY night … like your Olympic Hero Kurt Angle.

Crowd boos

Kurt Angle: You become the best when you beat ALL the best, when you beat The Rock, when you beat The Undertaker, when you beat Hulk Hogan, when you beat Stone Cold Steve Austin, when you win an Olympic gold medal WITH A BROKEN FREAKIN’ NECK!!

Mixed reaction this time for Kurt, who gets ready to bring the mic back up and speak once more, only to be cut off by Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar: What the hell do you want, Kurt? I hope you didn’t come out here to just run your mouth, so what is it exactly that you want? You wouldn’t, uh, happen to be angling for something now, would ya?

Kurt Angle: Let’s cut the BS, Brock. I want my rematch for the WWE Championship!

Brock Lesnar: {Scoffs and smiles} Who would’ve though?

Kurt Angle: I DESERVE IT!! … {Takes a deep breath} You know good and damn well I deserve my rematch.

Brock Lesnar: No, Kurt! What I know is last Sunday night, in the middle of this ring, I pinned your ass to this canvas, one - two - three.

Crowd cheers; Angle wipes his mouth in anger.

Brock Lesnar: You want a rematch after you tried to screw me at every single turn before WrestleMania? You want a rematch after you made my life Hell?!

Angle shakes his head as Brock.

Brock Lesnar: Fine, you’ve got your rematch, Kurt.

The crowd is stunned first, but soon lets out a mixed reaction as Kurt smiles wildly {and goofily, quite frankly}.

Kurt Angle: That’s it?! No problem?

Brock Lesnar: That’s it.

Kurt Angle: Wow.

Angle turns around to walk away…

Brock Lesnar: IF …

The crowd starts to cheer as Angle turns around skeptically, eyeing up a smiling Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar: You can get your rematch … if … you beg.

Big cheers from the crowd as Angle laughs … nervously.

Kurt Angle: Y- y- you want me to what?

Brock Lesnar: You heard me, Angle. I want you to beg me for a rematch. You don’t have a rematch clause in your contract, Stephanie’s not gonna give you one, so if you want that rematch for this championship … then you get down … on your hands and knees --

More cheers for Brock as Angle gulps hard.

Brock Lesnar: And BEG to get in this ring with me again for the WWE Championship. You do that, you’ll get your rematch.

Angle continues to stare at Lesnar in shock, looking into the champion’s eyes for any sign that he isn’t serious … There isn’t one; Lesnar remain stoic as he stares at the Olympian. Kurt brings the mic up.

Kurt Angle: {Chuckles} Beg?

Brock Lesnar: Beg.

Angle looks around the arena, trying to figure away out of this, before he looks back at Brock. Kurt then … drops down onto one knee, getting a bit of a rise from the crowd, and a shocked smile from Lesnar.

Kurt Angle: Brock … GIVE ME MY DAMN REMATCH FOR THE WWE TITLE!!

Boos from the crowd as Lesnar begins to laugh.

Brock Lesnar: You’re not very good at this, Kurt. I’ll help you out. Say the following: “Brock, could you pretty PLEASE give me a rematch for the WWE Championship?” Just like that.

Angle looks ready to explode as he angrily stares at Lesnar.

Kurt Angle: Brock … … … could you … PLEASE give me a --

Brock Lesnar: Pretty please, Kurt. Pretty please.

The crowd laughs as Angle takes his mic and slams it hard against the steel stage over and over again in frustration.

Brock Lesnar: {Smiling} What’s the matter, Kurt?

Angle gets back up to his feet with a scowl.

Kurt Angle: You think this is funny?

Brock Lesnar: What? Making a joke out of you, like you tried to do to me? Screw you, Angle.

The crowd cheers for Lesnar as the look on Angle’s face turns from a scowl to a smile.

Kurt Angle: No … screw you, Brock.

Lesnar gives Angle a sideways glance as unbeknownst to him … TEAM ANGLE leap over the crowd barricade to a tremendous amount of heat.

Benjamin and Haas slide into the ring, and Haas goes to attack Lesnar … but BROCK QUICKLY TURNS AROUND AND EYES THEM UP!! The crowd roars as Shelton and Haas look at each other in fear, before Brock begins to swing away on the both of them!

Kurt Angle sprints down to the ring, microphone in hand. He slides in, but Lesnar quickly turn around, grabs Angle and takes him over with a Belly-to-Belly Overhead Suplex! Brock stands over Angle, but Lesnar is soon taken down by a double shot to the back by Team Angle! The WWE Champion looks to fight them off, but it’s of no use as the numbers advantage is just too much for the massive man this time around. Angle struggles back up to his feet, and tells his troops to move out of the way. Kurt takes off his shirt and tosses it to the ground, stalking the champion.

Brock staggers up, and Angle grabs him around the waist, before planting him with a German suplex! Angle doesn’t let go, however, lifting Brock back up, and plants him with another German suplex!! Kurt still doesn’t let Lesnar out of his clutches, and brings the champion back up one more time, before he plants him a THIRD TIME with the German suplex!!! Team Angle applauds while the crowd boos and Angle stomps his feet, and continues to stalk Lesnar, looking for more damage on the man who took his WWE Championship - possibly an Angle Slam.

For the second time tonight, the audience goes completely ape shit for THE UNDERTAKER, who makes his way down the aisle. Angle quickly sends Team Angle from the ring to cut Taker off ‘at the pass’. Benjamin and Haas do as they’re told and begin to brawl with The Phenom, who attempts to fight them off with his ‘soup bones’ as effectively as possible.

The crowd lets out an even louder pop for HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN who attempts to pay The Undertaker back from earlier, carrying a STEEL CHAIR out onto the stage!! Hogan walks down the aisle, and immediately drills Benjamin in the back with a steel chair shot!! With Shelton down, Taker takes care of Haas, wailing away on him with hard right hands, as Hulk continues on down to the ring. Angle continues to stalk the rising Lesnar, as Hollywood enters the ring. The Olympian turns around, and sees HOGAN SWING THE CHAIR -

- BUT ANGLE DUCKS AND HOGAN DRILLS BROCK WITH THE CHAIR!!!

Hogan looks at Lesnar in shock, clearly making a mistake, but Angle couldn’t care less, drilling Hogan with a LOW BLOW!! Angle quickly pops back up to his feet and grabs Hogan, before he lifts the legend up and plants him with an ANGLE SLAM!! On the outside of the ring, Taker grabs Haas and slams him into the fan barricade, before continuing on down to the ring. Thinking quickly, Angle picks up the chair and once Taker slides in, KURT SLAMS THE CHAIR INTO HIS FACE!!!

Angle slams the chair down with intensity, as the crowd pours on the heat for the former champion. Hogan - down, Taker - down, Brock - down … and busted open from Hogan’s chair shot. Angle stares down at the WWE Champion for a second before he lets out a smirk … AND LOCKS IN THE ANKLE LOCK!! Brock yells out in an incredible amount of pain, blood running down his face, as Angle wrenches in the hold with tremendous intensity!

Angle yells out over and over “BEG, BROCK!!! BEG ME TO LET GO!!!” as SmackDown goes off the air, with Angle in complete control of the writhing champion, with The Undertaker and Hogan down around him.

Done and Done

Looks to be a solid first offering. Good to see you doing something after slacking for a couple weeks. But honestly, you've had me a bit worried. Your passion for BTB seems a bit on the outskirts. Again, glad to see you come through.

Full marks for not bypassing SummerSlam, and I'll be sure to get some comments to you for this show as soon as I can.

Smackdown Review

Just want to say that it will be weird seeing you write Eddie but it will even weirder reading Benoit. I remember in your ‘2007 and Beyond’ thread you had Benoit get ‘injured’ and said he wouldn’t come back. Why did you include him in this thread? Anyway, this was an awesome match and I’m sure this isn’t the only time we will see these two teams go at it on Smackdown. I like the Benoit-Rhyno pairing and they really worked well together. Good match length and the ending was classic Guerrero with Chavo taking the Gore and Eddie using the tights for the win. Los Guerreros for WWE Tag Champs please.

Kind of figured that the US Title was coming back and I’m so glad that it is! I hope you push either Cena or Eddie to the US Title and I hope you use the belt like WCW did, making the US Champion a legit contender for the World Championship. Good brackets and it is very intriguing that we don’t know Eddie’s partner. You better not disappoint!

No surprise that Cena won and I can see that he is already getting a push because he used the FU on Rikishi, who is by no means a cruiserweight. Rikishi was still a solid competitor at this time so Cena got a huge win. I just hope that you don’t push him WWE-style, I hope that you keep him heel, for the love of God, keep him heel or tweener.

Moore vs. Mysterio is kind of one-sided but I think you can make the match work. Matt getting Moore disqualified and having Mysterio win? I understand that he hates Rey and that is why he hit the Twist of Fate on the belt but now he just gave Rey a title shot for next week. That is not a very ‘heelish’ thing for Hardy to do, give his rival a title shot. Questionable booking, in my opinion.

Angle is not in a good mood and I hope you bring Heyman back as the manager for Team Angle. I wonder what Shelton will do later tonight and I hope Steph’s second announcement has something to do with the WWE Title shot.

Hogan back on Smackdown as a full-time wrestler is huge and I would love to see Lesnar vs. Hogan one more time for the WWE Championship. Hogan had some great lines and you wrote him very well, using all the good Hulk lines. Surprised to see Haas and Benjamin come out and you made them seem just as lame as they really are on the mic. Undertaker saving Hogan was huge and maybe we will see WGTT vs. Hogan/Taker next week but who knows? I hope you continue this whole thing with Hogan wrestling on Smackdown and I would love to see him against Angle, after Kurt gets his rematch of course.

Good Big Show interview and it is obvious that he will beat Nathan later tonight. Very interested to see Show vs. Rhyno in two weeks and I’m also curious to see how far Show gets in the US Title tournament.

More cruiserweight action is always good and I love Tajiri’s moves, he should challenge for the CW belt eventually. Release Funaki, please.

Good interaction between Hogan and Taker, with Taker still in a ‘tweener’ role. Hope to see one of these two take down Team Angle in the coming weeks.

Big Show wins, no surprise; he will beat Rhyno in two weeks, next segment please.

Angle being all cheery with Steph was pretty funny but then he gets back to his normal self when she tells him he isn’t getting handed a rematch. I can see him beating down Lesnar in the coming weeks, proving that he deserves a title rematch. I am really wondering where Heyman is; I hope you have something big planned with Paul.

Was that Austin being hyped in the video? I really hope so. Vince’s promo saw short and sweet, talking like he usually does and the grapefruits line was good. I can see him and Steph almost coming to blows next week, as Vince clearly isn’t happy with his daughter.

Very classic ‘face’ Lesnar promo that was very well written. He really explained what the WWE Championship meant to him and I think that he is going to be a face for a very long time. Angle needed to come out to have the show end on a huge note and he did just that. Angle and Lesnar had some good back and forth and I thought having Kurt beg was a great idea by Brock. I thought Angle was going to do it but then the crowd and Brock pissed him off so much that he didn’t. Thought Lesnar was going to escape Team Angle but 3 on 1 was just too much and now Angle’s crew has the advantage. TAKER! HOGAN! HOGAN HITS BROCK WITH THE CHAIR! Very surprising to see Angle as the last man standing, and that would be a great stipulation for his rematch with Brock at JD. Good final segment to end a great show. No recap necessary, 9/10.

Renegade’s Raw Feedback.

Reney, I know you’re out on your fancy cruise at the moment, but I also know you’ll read this in time so I’m very sorry for the lateness of this mate. My life’s been nuts the last week and I’ve had no free time what so ever, but still, better late than never <3

Firstly, I read this promo for the first time over a week ago and I loved it then. Bischoff kicking off the first Raw after Wrestlemania is fair enough and probably most fitting. I’m not sure about the “mixed reaction” the fans following Bischoff saying that WM19 was the best ever, I’d expect a huge pop for that. Bischoff’s gloating was good and his character was on from the outset. I was surprised that we didn’t hear Eric rave on about Austin’s firing a little more but meh. Lol @ Y2J & Evolution v HBK, Maven & The Hurricane. That makes me giggle. Steiner is immense. You wrote him brilliantly when he first came out, his dialogue was very good and kept me intrigued, a lot of what he said was a little heelish for mine but it was still clear that he is indeed a face. My only gripe was the sentence structure of some of Steiner’s lines was a little off, but that’s nothing major. I giggled at Rocky asking Steiner who he was only for BPP to start to reply with “shut up” and then get cut off. Gold. Love it. The steroids thing was fine, I don’t see a problem with it. This show is based in an age where all the rage (no pun intended) was about Steroids in Pro Wrestling. The interaction between Steiner and Rocky was fucking awesome. I loved it, you had it flow generally very well (except for the odd lines starting with “and” which shouldn’t happen often, but who gives a shit) and the way you portrayed Rocky and especially Steiner was spot on. The Belly-to-Belly at the end was nice and it adds a little bit of fuel to the fire. Big feud here plz. Steiner to go over. Absolutely brilliant start, my friend.

Hmm… no idea what’s doing with Morley and The Dudleyz.

A really well written recap here, Reney. You gave all four guys some decent exposure and none of them come off looking weak. The flow was good for the most part as it was a very easy read. Well booked having The Dudleyz cost Storm and Regal, following what happened earlier tonight. Smart stuff. RVD & Kane as Tag Champs is fine but I’d much prefer to see them in Singles Competition, they’re above the tag division but I know you think differently. Morley getting fucked up afterwards was nice too, obviously something will be building from this.

I really don’t like see Morley again so soon after getting fucked up. He couldn’t sold his beating a bit. Strange that The Dudleyz aren’t suspended, but clearly they’re gonna have a rough time next week.

I don’t much of D Lo Brown other than the fact that you’re a huge fan of his and you push him in every fucking thread you do . I like the fact that you noted that both guys got in some good offence in this match so that it doesn’t come across as a squash. Pure a filler match for these two until you find them something to do.

Solid promo from Flair here. Served its purpose I guess, but still it was nothing ground breaking. Naitch’s character was fine but I would’ve liked to have seen a little more involvement for both Batista and Orton. I can see two things happening in the Tag Match, either Flair gets pinned or Evolution & Y2J beat the fuck out of the faces.

Fucking awesome segment with Rocky/Trist/Hurricane. There didn’t seem a real purpose of it other than to amuse the fuck out of me, which it did. I hope you keep the Rock/Hurricane encounters a regular thing because they’re great value. Trish pwning Rock = ratings. Good shit.

Not particularly fussed on the women’s match. Well written recap though and you definitely made the right decision having Trish go over, thus making her look even stronger in the process.

This was a really solid promo from Christian. This has all the makings of a solid feud to be honest. You portrayed Christian’s arrogance really well here and his character was great, as he still came over a typical jealous heel. You have a good opportunity to do something big with Christian here. Hopefully you give both Test and Christian a solid feud in order to gain them some good exposure. Push the Captain plz. BTW, Stacey Keibler is hot. Test is NOT soft for fucking her.

Well, I must admit that I was a little surprised to see Christian go over clean. I’m a fan of both guys so it would’ve been nice to see this develop into a feud. I gotta say that the final exchange of this match was written very well, keeps both guys looking strong too.

As I’ve told you before, I know pretty much nothing of Maven. This promo was hit and miss for me, HBK was fine but I didn’t like what you did with Maven. To corny for mine. Good hype for the big tag match, though.

I’m not sure how Nash winded up in this match but now he’s here it’s a definite face victory coming. I found it strange that Michaels was all shocked to see his best mate return but oh well. Great recap Reney, really well booked. The finish was an absolute clusterfuck. I presume the RKO didn’t have its name in 2003? Nash getting the pin was no shock but Maven gets a huge rub from this especially as he hit the move that put Flair away. The Y2J/HBK showdown was tops too, heats their feud up a little more. Big push for Nash, perhaps?

Ooo. Tension between Big Sexy and The Game. No feud plz.

Hmm. Not digging the RTC reunion (or whatever it should be called). I imagine they’re meant to be heels but this was just way to bland for me. I have no idea what you’ll do with them but no doubt you’ve got something in store. You could’ve built this a little more for a few weeks instead of cramming it in this week, because the show really is already very long.

Fucking tops promo from Booker. His promo was tops, some of his slang was a little hard to read but I don’t care it’s his character and it did come across very well. Obviously Book’s not winning tonight but it would be cool if he did. I just hope like hell that he doesn’t get buried.

Brilliant Main Event mate. Good to see you go into some good detail for the Main Event. You have kept Booker looking really, really strong. He really had the upper hand for the most part and obviously had it not been for his little chronies, Hunter would’ve been down for the count. Evolution coming out and helping H really re-establishes them following their loss today and it’s probably the best way to keep Book looking solid too. You really had it look like Booker was actually going to win but it was booked so well that Evolution’s interference came from no where.

Hmm. I hate that Goldust came out tbh. I hate him and I hope to god Booker won’t be relegated to tagging with him now. Plz keep him floating around the Main Event. The beat down indicates to me that you will still give him a solid push and rightfully so. Triple H mentioning Kevin Nash in his little spiel after the beat down wasn’t a good thing because one minute it seemed as if you were definitely heading in a direction towards Nash v Hunter only for Goldberg to come out. Goldberg’s arrival was tops, really enjoy it to be honest with you. So Evolution is next for Goldberg huh? He completely destroyed them, it really wasn’t a GREAT night for them as a whole. I’m thinking we might see Goldberg v ‘Tista, Flair or Orton before we see him take on Hunter for the title, because I still think you might do Hunter v Nash.

Overall, I absolutely loved the show Reney. Like we talked about on MSN, it was fucking long, but luckily for you it wasn’t fucking long and fucking boring. It was thoroughly entertaining with only one or two dodgy segments. The show didn’t drag on at all, your promos were good for the most part but your match recaps were excellent, they were all very well booked and you definitely made the right decisions. Great start to the thread mate, you’ve got one of the few WWE based threads that can keep me entertained. Hope you're having fun on your cruise, fag. <3

DDMac’s SmackDown Feedback.

Might as well drop some Feedback for Smackers while I’m here, sorry if it’s a little brief, I’m running out of time and need sleep. For me personally, you have the stronger roster between the two so this should be great too. Before I start reading anything, Mac, Push Eddie Guerrero. The end.

Big match to start things off for the evening with my two all-time favourites – Eddie & Benoit. Slight error in the opening sentence where you said Wrestlemania was “last night” when in reality it was 4 nights ago, but that’s just minor, nit-picky bullshit. It was really good to see you go into such detail with your recap as it was very well written and it was long to develop a really nice flow. 10 minutes is a good length for this one too. The finish was tops, Chavo taking the Gore from Rhyno only for Eddie to roll up The Man Beast from behind was great and it definitely keeps Rhyno looking like a total machine. Nice start, very well booked. Good to see you kick things off with a match instead of a promo. Put the titles on The Guerrero’s and I will be a happy camper.

The US Championship is returning, that’s cool by me. The brackets look good Big Show will run through Rhyno but other than that, the rest are hard to pick. I wonder who Eddie’s opponent will be? I’m now changing my vote. Eddie for US Champ & as long as Cena doesn’t win I’ll be happy.

Keep Cena heel, please! He’s much more enjoyable that way. Clearly he’s in for a big push in this thread following the way you booked this match because hitting the FU on Rikishi wouldn’t be an easy feat.

Back to back matches? Different. I don’t understand the logic in having Hardy cause a DQ because he’ll have to face Rey now. Strange. The Twist of Fate on the belt was nice, adds some fuel to the fire. I hope you make this a big time feud.

Lol. Kurt is pissed. Cool promo. I’m sure this is not the last we’ll see off Kurt and co. tonight.

This promo from Hogan was actually quite enjoyable. I usually hate anything Hogan related but I enjoyed this promo quite a bit mate, you wrote Hulk very well. Shelton and Haas coming out is a huge rub for them and the fact they got to do beat Hogan down does even bigger things for them. Undertaker coming out to make the save was strange? I didn’t expect it and I’m not sure why he would’ve done done, but I guess we’ll find out.

Great promo from Big Show, short but sweet tbh. You captured his passion and intensity very well. I don’t think he’ll win the US Title, though. I think he’ll be screwed out of it some how.

Hahaha. Squash for Tajiri. Greatness. Not sure if you’re going to push Tajiri, but it’d be cool if you did.

Good to see that Taker is still filling a tweener role. I would’ve been extremely upset to see a love-filled promo between these two so it was good to see Taker maintain some attitude and make it clear that he made the save for Hogan to get himself noticed by Angle and co.

Show squashes Nathan Jones. Fair enough, next please.

Hahaha. I absolutely loved this promo. Kurt was awesome, his swing in emotions was great. He was very well written and very easy to visualise. Good shit. This thing with Heyman going MIA is intriguing as well, hopefully something comes from this. We still definitely haven’t seen the last of Kurt tonight for mine.

Hmm. The video was interesting, don’t know who it was for. Eddie’s opponent perhaps? Austin? I don’t know.

Lol @ Steph coming from Vince’s grapefruits. Okay promo, short but Vince’s character was on song and you provided us with a reason to come back next week. Good stuff.

Well after a few different promos, it’s finally being called Last Sunday Night instead of Last night . Nice promo though, Brock was in full on face mode for the majority. You definitely established him very nicely as a face. Kurt was good again, his character was excellent, his intensity was shining brightly and I liked the fact that you had him maintain his integrity amidst it all as well. The end was cool, a bit of a clusterfuck to be honest. Kurt is the last man standing and looks very strong with three other huge stars down and out, courtesy of him. He definitely re-builds some momentum here following his loss at Wrestlemania.

Overall Mac, a great show too. Clearly it was much more within the time restraints but never the less another enjoyable read. Your matches, although were brief, were well booked and all of your promos were very well written.

Good job, both of you. Great start to the thread.

Default Re: DDMac & Renegade Present: WWE 2003 - Now Go Home And Get Your Fucking Shinebox

SmackDown!

Good memories, great times. WrestleMania 19.

Would've maybe expected a promo to open the show, from the new WWE Champion, but I guess it was around this stage, that Smackdown began to focus mainly on wrestling, so I get that.

Excellent opening match, which would possibly point towards Rhyno and Benoit being out of the tag title scene for now, with Los Guerreros winning here to make a strong case for a title shot. Finish was clever, and I hope to see more classic Guerrero style lying, cheating and stealing. Not sure how long it'll take for me to get uncomfortable reading Benoit, or if it will even become a situation where I'm awkward reading a BTB with him. Perhaps you can break the mould with use of the late Canadian in past time BTB's.

Strong, business like promo from the GM. United States Title to return is all good, the sooner the better. Cant wait to see who you put over. From the premise and the backstory Steph put into the promo, I'd imagine the title will be more than a mid card belt, and more of an upper mid card title.

I'll be predicting Cena to go all the way in this one. I'd have said Guerrero, but I'm thinking you might decide to go a different route than real life. A mystery entrant could be a wild card prediction though, and I'm sure speculation will be rife over the next couple weeks as to who it is. Billy Gunn imo The One = No ratings.

No surprises to see Cena go over Rikishi. The Kish was definately at a cross roads at this point, so I'll be interested to see just what route you go with him. Obviously, Cena is headed for the top - but I just wonder how'll he'll get there in this scenario. Hopefully you'll not forget about the mini-feud he had with Brock Lesnar in the run up to WM. Not that I'm expecting a title shot like in real life, but a Smackdown main event to blow it off for now would be cool, and give Cena some rub, even in a clean loss.

Mysterio gets himself a WM rematch next week, but at what cost?? Matt Hardy softens the challenger up, giving him the title shot, but makes sure he is less than 100% at the same time.

No rematch clause for Angle?? I'm actually liking that if it means we see the Lesnar - Angle rematch held off for a couple more months to make the build up even sweeter. This little tidbit will be deemed useless though if he gets a rematch at Backlash. I want more Heyman on my screen Fix it please. Ahh, the devious plan no one can hear. I'm definately into Team Angle here. Just from this promo, I want to see more from them, and Angles plan for a rematch.

Death > Hulk Hogan milking a standing ovation. It annoys me, but it always happens, lol. I sure dont like the sound of a long term Hulk Hogan stay. He's fine in small doses from time to time, but keeping him around every week, or even every other week could be overkill, and make him just another guy on the roster, and not 'The Imoortal', 'legendary', Hulk Hogan. Team Angle do the bidding of Kurt, and nearly get a major scalp in taking out Hogan ... BUT TAKER?? (I <3 badass Taker btw. Let it stay that way please ). Surprising to see Taker help Hogan, and I for one am interested to find out why exactly he helped Hulk out this evening.

Big Show as a monster is AWESOME. I didnt fully appreciate his role in 2003, but I was wrong not to do so. Quite possibly his best WWE run was this time period, and I hope you do him justice. Chilling promo from the big man, and I look forward to seeing him take out Nathan 'G-DAY' Jones.

Tajiri over Funaki looked thrown together, so I'm suspecting there is something more to come from this exchange, most likely for Tajiri, as a push as challenger for the CW title could come from this. I'd be surprised if it was just a filler.

Taker / Hogan exchange started off a little wobbily, but it picked up steam towards the end, and the reasoning behind Taker running out for the save was nicely put, and had an actual reason, rather than just, 'because'.

Hopefully that will see an end to Nathan Jones . Big Show goes over, and I'm expecting him to a REAL threat for the United States Championship, and I wouldnt be surprised in the slightest if he won it, but for now, my early pick is Cena.

Same again here in terms of the Angle / Steph exchange, like the Taker / Hogan one earlier, started shakily, but gathered steam as it furthered. It would appear Angle has no chance of a rematch, given Lesnar has to basically 'elect' him for the match. However, honestly, I can see some sort of genius Heyman plan coming together to get Angle a rematch, with his absence being felt tonight, with Angles plans all falling through. Heyman wouldnt screw any of that up . He needs to come back next week and get Kurt back on top.

Oh, something just clicked . U.S Title tournament culminates at Judgment Day, and not Backlash. Does this mean to say that single brand events are in effect starting immediately?? Just a question I wanted to pop.

Mystery man to debut NEXT WEEK?? I guess I might be building my hopes up a little much so early on, as it could be any mid card jobber. Hope not though.

Oh my god - was that a video for ... SABLE~!! Fuck me, Sable was the big announcement!!! *Okay, I guess it was as everyone else has said, Stone Cold*, cut off by McMahon!!! Excellent Vince McMahon speech, really put him across well. I wonder what he could have to say to his daughter next week on SD?? I for one hope it isnt the start of some sort of power struggle .

Unexpectedly GREAT promo from Brock Lesnar - and as a face?? Well, I really enjoyed it anyway. I'd go as far as to say it was my favourite promo of the night. Glad you paid homage to the botched SSP. I do however get a slight feeling Lesnar as a face is only a short term plan, and an eventual reunion with Heyman is on the cards ... just an 'out there' though.

But here comes Angle... personally, with Angle knowing he needs Lesnar 'on side' for a rematch, surely he should be sucking up?? Or maybe you're going for the reverse psychology from Angle. Scratch that, I've read on, and I see where it's going now . Man, I really dug this promo between Lesnar and Angle. I didnt think I would've, but hell, this was a great little promo to continue the feud. Lesnar came across well as a face, Angle showed his desperation for a rematch by begging, and then we get the obligitory run in from Team Angle. Lesnar cant overcome the odds, but Taker and Hogan make the save. I want to see less of Taker and Hogan already - especially Hogan :@. He's sapping all the beefy goodness of Angle vs Lesnar. Kurt was awesome here, putting out all three faces, and I LOVED the finish, with Angle telling Brock to beg to make him let go of the anklelock. PRICELESS.

I take back what I said before about holding back the WrestleMania rematch. I want to see it asap - and not a fucking Fatal Four Way with Hogan killing all the heat from a white hot Lesnar vs Angle feud. That imo, needs to be the centre of attention in this thread right now, because it's at least 10x more interesting post WM than the feud was pre WM.

Overall, for the most part, I have to say it was mainly by the numbers stuff ... but fucking hell, the Lesnar / Angle dynamic was absolutely insane, and had me wanting next weeks show now. . That alone makes this show a BIG BIG BIG thumbs up. Pure awesomeness.
