Rated-R-Champ’s SD! Review

Opening Segment: Really liked this segment here man, I liked how Show and Jericho were very in character and that there wasn’t any hostility. I liked how Show is now 100% focused on the World Championship and Jericho acted cocky as expected but that’s Jericho’s character, he’s cocky but he’s a face if that makes sense. Good little segment and what a match for tonight and next week.

Michelle McCool Vs Victoria: I like how you have reinvented Victoria in a way as this crazy, destroying woman. Her character is great and I’m glad she got the win here and it seems you have plans to push her which I like. She seems relentless on picking up wins and she is really acting ruthless with the second Widow’s Peak.

CM Punk Vs Finlay: I thought this was quite odd in a way, I know Finlay’s tough and stuff but the lack of dialogue from Finlay kind of took away from the segment. I would’ve liked some more interaction instead of Finlay just knocking the Pepsi and sandwich away and then a brawl starting, was quite funny and interesting though.

John Morrison Vs MVP: A good little match here man, and I liked how Kane came in at the end, there was a lot of action here, back and forth and the match just clicked. Morrison abandoning the match to get Kane was great and the count out victory then seemed highly likely. I liked the aftermath with Kane attacking Morrison too.

Victoria and Teddy Long Segment: Another good segment right here, I liked how Victoria decides she will smarten up as soon as the Women’s titles involved and your women’s title division is really getting good, things are hotting up, I like it.

The Academy Vs Yang and Moore: Oh, how I’d love to see Maryse wearing what you described, lol. But the match was really good and a good way to get The Academy over and I’m glad your pushing Dykstra and Striker. I liked the ending, heck, I’d be distracted too! And Striker’s promo was pretty good too.

Edge Interview: I liked this little interview, I loved how Punk and Finlay were still brawling and your making the interviews more old-school with the interviewers describing things more which is great and Edge was very in-character and very detailed, he really sold the match well. Good interview.

The Big Show Vs The Undertaker: Match of the Night, just like it should be considering it’s the Main Event. I really liked how it was back and forth and neither would give up, the ending rocked! And then everyone interfering, fantastic stuff and has me excited for next week and ultimately Backlash!

Overall: Really good show, your standard of writing etc is fantastic J

RAW Preview

Last week on RAW, we saw Randy Orton and Batista go one-on-one in the main event, in a match that saw a bloody Animal fall to an RKO. Just before the match, however, Elijah Burke made a case to be included in the ECW Championship Match at Backlash. He made the challenge to Batista, telling him to pick any Superstar to beat, and the following night on ECW, Batista revealed that if Elijah wanted to be part of his match, he'd have to beat The Animal himself! The two went back and forth, but in the end, the ref went down, allowing Shelton Benjamin to take out Batista with the ECW Championship, and giving Elijah entrance into the match! What will Batista have to say regarding the Guiding Light and the Gold Standard?

Last week, it was announced that a World Tag Team Championship Match would take place at Backlash, between the champions Shawn Michaels and Paul Burchill, and the No. 1 Contenders. The contenders have yet to be decided, but we will find out whether or not it'll be the ever-popular tandem of Shad & JTG, known collectively as Cryme Tyme, or the underdog duo of Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney that'll compete for the Tag Team Titles.

Another match that will be held at Backlash will be a tag team match between RAW and SmackDown! Superstars, with the winning team's brand signing a hot free agent! None of the participants have been announced, but it's expected that RAW General Manager William Regal make one of his selections this Monday? Which Superstar will he choose to represent RAW at Backlash?

Also last week, Jamie Noble was victorious in his RAW debut, defeating Santino Marella. The Miz found similar success in his debut, defeating his fellow ECW alumni and recently-drafted Superstar Kofi Kingston in their RAW debuts. Santino was heard calling Noble's win a fluke, that no man smaller than him could ever defeat him. This week, William Regal has confirmed a tag team match between the four, and with the rivaly heating up between Kofi and Miz, will the Jamaican Superstar be able to avenge his loss?

All this and more on Monday Night RAW on USA!

RAW

April 14, 2008

We start the show with a vid recap of last week's main event, starting with Randy Orton calling out Shane McMahon on his decision to vacate the WWE Championship. RAW General Manager William Regal stood up for Shane, then the two engaged in a war of words, resulting in Orton being put in a match for the main event against the former ECW Champion, Batista. During the match, Orton hit two well-placed attacks on Batista's forehead, busting him open. Orton then turned a Batista Bomb attempt into an RKO, giving him the win. After the match, John Cena came out, and after a brief fight, fell to an RKO as well. As Orton celebrated, Jeff Hardy came out, and patted his Money in the Bank briefcase, reminding everyone that he can cash in a World Championship Match anytime, anywhere he so pleases.

We then head into the arena, where the crowd is crazy with anticipation, and the commentating team welcomes us to the show.

JR: Welcome everyone to another edition of Monday Night RAW! I'm Jim Ross, here as always with my fellow commentator, Jerry "The King" Lawler!

King: Only two more episodes of RAW before Backlash, JR! I can't wait; can you?

JR: No, I cannot. And tonight, we will add a new match to Backlash, when the teams of Tommy Dreamer and Colin Delaney take on Cryme Tyme to determine the No. 1 Contender's to the World Tag Team Championships, and will face the champions, Shawn Michaels and Paul Burchill, at Backlash.

The two try to hype up the PPV even more, but are interrupted by John Cena's music! The Chain Gang Commander comes out to a loud pop, wearing the spinner version of the WWE Championship, and walks down to the ring, slapping hands with the front-row fans. He enters the ring, and is given a mic from one of the workes.

Cena: Ever since Shane McMahon came out and announced to myself, Randy Orton, and everyone that the WWE Championship was going to be vacated due to the incident that happened at WrestleMania 24, all Randy's done is whine and cry about "his" title. I'm going to be honest for a second here, and say that a small part of me feels bad for Orton. He was the WWE Champion for six months, and he didn't lose it; he got it taken away. But in contrast to that very small part of me, everything else is saying, "Well, Randy Orton, ain't payback a bitch?" You see, just like I'm the reason Orton had his title taken away, he's the reason I had my title taken away from me back in October. Because of Randy, I was stripped of the same title I held over the title. And not only that, because of Orton, I missed four months of my career. However, that opened the door for one of the most surprising, most shocking, most successful returns ever at the Royal Rumble! But let's fast-forward to today. In two weeks, Randy and I will step foot into this ring again, competing for the vacant WWE Championship. In two weeks, at Backlash, I'm going to face and defeat Randy Orton, and take back the WWE Title that he cost me.

The crowd pops, and Cena looks to say something else, but he's suddenly interrupted by the Intercontinental Champion, Mr. Kennedy! He arrogantly strides down to the ring, chewing gum, a mic in hand, and enters between the ropes. He chews and pops his gum in Cena's face, then takes a small step back to speak.

Kennedy: Wait just a second, there, Johnny. Now I now that right now, you think that you're at the top of the mountain, at the top of this industry, what with being involved in a WWE Title Match at Backlash and all. But! The hottest thing in this industry right now is Ric Flair's retirement. Everyone is talking about what a huge blow it was to the world of wrestling, losing a true legend from in-ring activity, but praising the huge spectacle his farewell two weeks ago was. But here's the truly important part: whenever people think of Ric Flair, they don't think about his 16 World Championships, they don't think about his legendary matches. No, sir. When people think Ric Flair, thy think about the man that out him into his long-overdue retirement, the man that one day will be competing for and winning World Championships. When people think about Ric Flair, they think about...

Kennedy then gets in Cena's face, and exclaims:

Kennedy: MMIISSTEEEEEEEERR... KENNEDAAAY!

Cena keeps a straight face, then takes a step back. He then gives Kennedy a warning.

Cena: Don't yell in my face.

Kennedy gives him an arrogant smirk, then completes his catchphrase, in Cena's face.

Kennedy: KENNEDAAY!

Cena shakes his head, then hits a big punch for Kennedy, sending the gum flying out of his mouth! The crowd loves it, and for a moment, Kennedy looks angry, then the cocky smirk returns. He then catches Cena with a punch of his own, the crowd booing. Cena recovers for a moment, then takes off his cap and tosses it into the crowd. He does the same with his jersey, and steps up in Kennedy's face. Before anymore fists can be exchanged, RAW General Manager William Regal appears at the top of the ramp, with a mic in hand.

Regal: Allow me to intervene, gentlemen. Now, Kennedy, this opening segment did not originally include you, but I'm glad about what just transpired. The reason for that is because now I have a main event for the show. Tonight, we will have the Intercontinental Champion, Mr. Kennedy, go one-on-one with the man that will compete for the vacant WWE Championship in two weeks at Backlash, John Cena!

The crowd loves it, while Cena and Kennedy look at each other with opposite expressions. Cena, a look of determination, Kennedy, one of arrogance. The two have a stare down as the commentators hype up the main event, and we go to break.

Commercial Break

When we return, we are setting up for tag team action, and the first man out is Santino Marella, who comes out saluting the booing crowd, smiling and blowing kisses. He waits for his partner, and it turns out to be The Miz, accompanied by his girlfriend, Layla. The couple strut down the ring to great heat, with Miz talking trash to the crowd. Once they get in the ring, Kofi Kingston comes out to a nice pop, doing his thunderclaps before jogging down to the ring, slapping hands with the fans. He removes his tracksuit as his partner, Jamie Noble, comes out to a nice pop, and comes down to the ring. He enters, and the four competitors take their places as the bell rings.

Tag Team Match:
Santino Marella & The Miz (w/ Layla) vs. Kofi Kingston & Jamie Noble

Finish: The match progressed the feud between Miz and Kofi, with the Chick Magnet tried to keep from being in the ring with him. Now, Miz is in the ring with Noble, and tosses him off the ropes. He bends over for a backdrop, but Noble delivers a kick to the chest to counter. He follows up with a clothesline, then makes the tag to Kofi. The Jamaican Superstar quickly climbs up the to the top, then flies off with a missile dropkick that connects! The Miz cleverly uses the impact's momentum to roll to his corner, and tags in Santino. He charges at Kofi, but he sidesteps him, then nails an enziguiri. Santino falls in comedic fashion, and Kofi makes the pin. Miz enters the ring and breaks it up, then quickly retreats back to his corner. Kofi follows him, but the ref separates them. Suddenly, Santino comes up behind Kofi and rolls him up! Kofi manages to kick out at 2, then the two get to their feet, and Kofi connects with the Cool Runnings out of nowhere! The pin, 1... 2... Miz tries to break it up, but Noble intercepts him... 3! Kofi and Noble win it!

Winners:
Kofi Kingston & Jamie Noble

JR: Kofi Kingston gets a small dose of revenge against The Miz, who's seemingly had his number these past few weeks!

King: Kofi technically beat The Miz, but you can only truly say you beat someone until you pin them!

The two winners celebrate in the ring, while Miz, Layla, and Santino retreat up the ramp, the two shouting insults at them.

We then head to the back, where we see John Cena in his locker room, preparing for his main event match against Mr. Kennedy. The spinner WWE Title on his shoulder, he adjusts his wristbands, then looks over, and we see Triple H step into the picture! The two look at each other with displeasure.

Cena: Can I help you?

Triple H: Look, John, my problem's not with you right now; it's with Kennedy. I know that you're one of the best in this business, and I know that you're not going to hold anything back against Kennedy tonight, but if it gets to the point to where I have to break it up, don't think I won't hesitate to do it.

Cena stares at him intently, with Hunter having the same expression.

Cena: And why would you do that?

Triple H: I just came back from Regal's office, and he's made a match between Kennedy and myself for Backlash. And when I walk into that ring at Backlash, one-on-one with Kennedy, I want him good and ready. I want him to be at 100 percent, I want him on all cylinders. I want him to be fully prepared for the hell I'm going to put him through for what he said last week. Only the lowest of the low would find pleasure in ending a man's career, taking away his passion, the dream that he's lived for the past thirty-six years. Kennedy admitted to that last week, and that's why he's going to learn what happens when you take away a man from doing what he loves doing best. And trust me, it's not going to be a lesson he'll soon forget.

Cena: That's great, Hunter, but tonight, I have my own agenda, and it includes kicking Kennedy's ass. Good luck at Backlash, though. I've got an important match of my own that night.

Triple H smirks, and looks at the WWE Title resting on Cena's shoulder.

Triple H: Don't think that I've forgotten about the WWE Championship, John, because winning World Titles, and being the best in this business, that's my passion. So you better make sure that whoever wins at Backlash, whether it be you or Randy Orton, you better make sure that you're prepared to face me. Because like I said, you may be one of the best, but there's only one absolute best: The Game.

With that, Triple H pats the title, and leaves the locker room, Cena's eyes following him out as we go to break.

Commercial Break

When we come back, we are set for our next match, and Chuck Palumbo rides out to the ring on his motorcycle, with little heat trailing him, then gets in the ring for his RAW debut. He waits a few moments for his opponent, then "No More Words" starts to play to a huge pop! Jeff Hardy comes out, performs his signature dance as his pyro goes off, then jogs down to the ring, his Money in the Bank briefcase in hand. He enters the ring and poses a couple times before the match officially starts.

Singles Match:
Chuck Palumbo vs. Jeff Hardy

Finish: The match had seen Jeff and Palumbo fight for control, with Palumbo now on the offensive after a thumb to the eye. He tosses Jeff off the ropes, then connects with a big boot. He makes a pin, but Jeff manages to kick out at 2. Palumbo picks him up by the hair, then whips him into the corner. Jeff crashes back-first against the turnbuckles, then gets sandwhiched when Palumbo clotheslines him. Palumbo then takes the opportunity to start punching away at Jeff's midsection, doing so until the ref separates them. Palumbo then whips him across the ring into the opposite corner, but the Charismatic Enigma rebounds with a Whisper in the Wind, taking down Palumbo! Jeff slowly makes the pin, but Palumbo kicks out. Jeff gets to his feet, helping Palumbo up as well, then throws him into the ropes. Palumbo comes back into a clothesline. then gets up into a kick to the midsection. Jeff connects with a vertical suplex, but doesn't release the hold. He gets to his feet, Palumbo with him, then raises him for another suplex, but this time drops Palumbo on his face and midsection! Jeff gets up and poses as he goes to the top, then flies off with a great Swanton Bomb! The pin, 1... 2... 3! Jeff Hardy picks up the win!

Winner:
Jeff Hardy

JR: A big loss for Palumbo, losing in his RAW debut, but an impressive showing by Mr. Money in the Bank, Jeff Hardy!

King: If he keeps this up, he'll definitely be successful when he cashes in that briefcase!

Jeff celebrates his win with his briefcase, posing for the fans that snap pictures of him.

We then head back, and we're inside of William Regal's office. He slowly stirs a cup of tea, then the door opens, and in walks the Women's Champion, Mickie James! She proudly displays her title on her shoulder, but has a a slightly confused look on her face.

Mickie: So, Mr. Regal, I was watching SmackDown! this past Friday night, and Teddy Long announced that the two of you decided on a match for Backlash between me and Victoria with a free agent on the line. Why wasn't I told about this?

Regal looks up at her, a little suprised.

Regal: You mean I didn't tell you? I was sure I did... you know, this isn't the first time I meant to tell someone something, but didn't do it. I'm very sorry, dear, it's just that lately, with all of the new Superstars RAW acquired in the Draft, I've had to do a lot of contract rearraging, so you have my sincerest apoligies. Nevertheless, you will be facing Victoria, and I strongly advise that you win, because not only would RAW acquire a new talent, it would keep a SmackDown! Diva from becoming the No. 1 Contender to one of RAW's championships.

Mickie: You don't have to worry about that, Mr. Regal. There's no better feeling than being Women's Champion, it means so much to me to have this title, so don't think I won't put up a fight. I'll give everything I have and more whenever my Women's Championship is concerned. Plus, I haven't faced Victoria ever since she moved to SmackDown!, so it'll be a great challenge to face her now, with all the experience she's obtained over there. Oh, and if you're having trouble keeping up with your work, maybe you should hire an assisstant to help you out.

Mickie then cheerfully leaves the room, while Regal rubs his chin.

Regal: An assistant... That's not a bad idea... Oh, and that reminds me!

We see Regal pick up his phone and start punching in numbers before we go to break.

Commercial Break

After the break, we come back, where Tommy Dreamer and Colin Delaney come out to a decent pop. They walk down to the ring together, Colin a little nervous, with Dreamer having a stern look. While they prepare in the ring, Cryme Tyme comes out to a great pop! The Brooklyn Boys do a little dance at the top of the ramp, before coming down to the ring. They enter the ring, removing their accessories, and the bell rings.

World Tag Team Championships No. 1 Contender's Match:
Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney vs. Cryme Tyme

Finish: Dreamer had done most of the work in the match, but had tagged in Colin twice. He'd gotten dominated like expected, but suprisingly managed to get on the offensive long enough to tag Dreamer back in. Now, Dreamer goes to work on JTG, punching him a few times before kicking him in the midsection. He connects with a vertical suplex, and makes a pin. Jay manages to kick out, and Dreamer allows him to his feet, before picking him up, and giving him a powerslam. Dreamer goes off the ropes, looking for an elbow drop, but Jay rolls away, and makes the tag to Shad. Shad gives Dreamer a clothesline, then two more, before making the cover. Dreamer kicks out at 2, then Shad picks him up. He whips him into the corner, then Dreamer stumbles out, into a sidewalk slam. Shad makes the pin again, but Dreamer again kicks out. Shad then picks him up, and tosses him into the ropes, hoping to hit a big boot, but Dreamer ducks, bounces off again, and nails a low dropkick to Shad's knee.

Shad holds his knee in pain, and rolls to his corner, tagging in JTG. He gives Dreamer with a clothesline, then nails a dropkick. JTG then goes to the top rope, poses for the fans, then flies off for a crossbody, catching Dreamer! But the ECW Original uses the momentum to roll through, and has JTG in a pin! JTG barely kicks out, and the two get to their feet. Dreamer ducks under a wild clothesline, and counters with a back suplex. He waits for JTG to get up, kicks him in the midsection, and hits the Dreamer DDT! But instead of making a pin, he goes over to Colin, and tags him in! Colin quickly scrambles into the ring, almost tripping, and makes a pin, but he kicks out! Colin allows JTG to his feet, throws him off the ropes, and tries a clothesline, but JTG hung on to the ropes, and makes the tag to Shad! Shad comes into the ring, and Colin tries a clothesline, no effect! Shad then brings Colin into a fireman's carry, and JTG comes in, bounces off the ropes, G9! JTG then pushes Dreamer off the apron as the pin, 1... 2... 3! Cryme Tyme's going to Backlash!

Winners:
Cryme Tyme

JR: The Brooklyn Boys made a great return at WrestleMania 24, and now they'll be challenging for the World Tag Team Titles at Backlash!

King: Why does Tommy Dreamer think tagging Colin into the match is going to help? At his worst he's still better than Colin!

Cryme Tyme celebrates their big win by dancing, taking in the fans' cheers. Dreamer and Colin look a little disappointed, but Dreamer consoles his student. Cryme Tyme climbs the turnbuckles and motions for the World Tag Titles.

We then head back to William Regal's office, and the door is opened to reveal Mr. Money in the Bank, Jeff Hardy! The Charismatic Enigma walks inside, holding his guaranteed World Title Match.

Jeff: Some of the guys told me that you wanted to see me.

Regal: Indeed. You see, Jeff, at Backlash, there are two free agends that I'd like to add to my roster, and seeing as how you are one of the brightest Superstars on RAW, as well as the current Money in the Bank holder, I'd like for you to represent RAW in a tag team match at Backlash.

The crowd pops, while Jeff nods his head in approval.

Jeff: Alright, sounds cool. Who's my partner?

Just then, JBL walks into the room to the crowd's displeasure. He's wearing a business suit, and as usual, his white cowboy hat. At first, Regal looks at him indifferently, but then a spark of interest lights up in his eyes.

Regal: Can I help you, Mr. Layfield?

JBL: Mr. Regal, I heard about the situation at Backlash, and knowing that you're a brilliant General Manager, I know that you'd only pick the most suitable performers to represent RAW at Backlash. And while I think that a better decision could've been made regarding my partner, I'd be honored to join this... punk, at Backlash.

Jeff looks at him with a slightly angry look, and holds up his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Jeff: Punk? Would a punk be able to have gotten past five of the best in this business to win a guaranteed World Championship Match at WrestleMania? And speaking of winning, when was the last time you won a match?

Jeff and JBL look at each other with anger in both their eyes, but before JBL can say anything, he is interrupted by Regal.

Regal: JBL, ever since you came over to my brand, you've done nothing of signifigance, which is partly one of the reasons I never considered you as a possible tag team partner for Jeff. But taking into consideration your past accomplishments-

JBL: You better take me into consideration. I was the longest reigning WWE Champion in SmackDown! history, and among that, I've won numerous other championships.

Regal: If you'd be so kind as to not interrupt me again, I'd like to inform you, that after some thought, I'd like to give you the opportunity to impress me. Next week, you will have a one-on-one match, and the winner of that match will be going to Backlash to team up with Jeff Hardy.

JBL: You want me to impress you? Have you not followed my career? I'm the best in this business, dammit, I shouldn't have to go around beating nobodies to get what I want!

Regal: Right now, you're making me regret my decision, Mr. Layfield, so I'd advise you to take the offer while it still stands.

JBL gives the GM an angry stare, then turns to Jeff, who gives him a smile, then pats him on the shoulder before leaving the room, and we go to break.

Commercial Break

When we come back, we're backstage, with Cryme Tyme coming out of a room, big smiles on their faces. They look around, and close the door, and we see that it was the Diva's locker room. They exchange a street handshake, pleased with themselves.

Shad: Man, we gonna get a lotta green for all this Diva memorabilia!

Suddenly, they hear someone coming and quickly get rid of their grins. The person turns out to be Katie Lea, Paul Burchill's sister! She approaches Shad and JTG, who they welcome with an upwards nod.

Katie Lea: So, the two of you are the ones that'll be facing my brother Paul and Shawn Michaels for the World Tag Team Championships at Backlash. Well, if I were you, I'd start preparing right now, because you're going against one of the best this business has ever seen, and someone that the world will soon see become one of the best, as well.

JTG: Oh, you don't have to worry about us, babycakes. Me and my boy, Shad, we got everything under control. I know it's not gonna be cool watchin' your brother get beat, but maybe it'd make you feel better to go out with one half of the future World Tag Team Champions.

Katie looks on with pretend interest, while JTG gives her a big smile, showing off his sparkling grill.

Shad: Back up a little, Jay. She's clearly not feelin' you, 'cause she knows that Cryme Tyme is all about the muscle and the brains of the operation: Shad Gaspard, baby. So how 'bout it, girl? What do you think about these?

Shad then gives Katie a big smile of his own, and flexes to show off his guns, but she shakes her head in decline.

Katie: Sorry, boys, I'm not really looking for that right now, but I thank you anyway. Good luck at Backlash; you'll certainly need it.

With that, she waves good-bye and leaves the scene, but Cryme Tyme's eyes never stop following her. Shad is the first to break away, and lightly slaps JTG on the cheek to snap out of it.

Shad: Damn, bro. What could've been...

JTG flashes him a smile, and pulls out a pair of panties from his back pocket!

JTG: It ain't no thing, bro! I already got her panties!

Shad: She's from London, dawg; they're called knickers over across the pond.

With that, the two share another handshake, and leave the scene of the crime.

We then come back to the arena, where the fans are hot from the previous segment. Things are about to get louder, because Batista comes out to a huge pop! He's wearing a suit and sunglasses, as well as a bandage on his head from a wound he suffered last week, and walks down the ramp after his pyro with a mic in hand. He enters the ring, and waits for the crowd to die down before starting.

Batista: Last week, Elijah Burke came out here, and demanded that he be included in my ECW Championship Match at Backlash. I thought it was funny that he demand a match, because he hasn't done anything important in a very long time. And that's exactly what I told him. I told him that if he wanted to be in my match, he had to earn his spot. He had to prove that he deserved to be in the same ring with me, fighting for my ECW Title. And you know what? He told me to pick anyone, anyone at all, to face him the next night on ECW. I'll admit, that takes guts, so I decided to put him throught the best WWE has to offer: me. I chose myself, and again, I was surprised at what he came at me with. Needless to say, I ended up losing the match-

Before Batista can continue, Elijah Burke's music starts to play to loud heat, and he comes out with a big smile on his face. He enters the ring with mic already in hand, and addresses Batista.

Elijah: What a great ending to a mediocre speech. You ended up losing that match. The moment that that referee's hand counted 3, and rung that glorious bell, it was made official: the ECW Championship Match at Backlash became a Triple Threat between the champion, and my boy, Shelton Benjamin, yourself, Batista, and the Guiding Light, Elijah Burke.

Batista: I wasn't done yet, Burke. I did end up losing the match, and you put up a hell of a fight, but the way that you won the match, getting Shelton Benjamin to hit me in the head with the ECW Title, that was absolutely pathetic! Any ounce of my respect that you'd earned in our match, it was lost completely by the end!

Elijah: You think I care? Do you really think I care if you respect me or not? I don't need your respect Batista, because your respect is tainted! The respect that you earned from the locker room, from the fans, you earned it by kissing ass! You kissed Triple H's ass, Ric Flair's ass, and when your head got big, you decided to break out on your own! Don't try to deny it, Batista, because it's the truth. But you know what? You can kiss my ass, too, because I'm going to win the match at Backlash, and become the last-ever ECW Champion!

As the two look at each other with discontent, ECW Champion Shelton Benjamin comes out to great heat, his title around his shoulder. Like his two opponents, he isn't dressed to compete, and enters the ring as if nothing could happen. He asks Elijah for his mic, then starts to speak.

Shelton: Batista, what you need to realize, is that it's my time to shine. I proved to everyone that I'm truly the Gold Standard when I beat you at WrestleMania 24 to win my ECW Championship, and whether you want to admit it or not, I proved that I'm better than you. There's only a handful of people that can say that they've beaten you 1-2-3, and I'm one of them. Your star has been at the top of this company for years, but it keeps going down, and taking that spot that you had for so long are the people that've worked hard, without anyone having their back. That includes me, and Elijah. Today, Batista, I'm the ECW Champion, and at Backlash, I'm going to be beating the two of you to be recognized as ECW Champion forever. But mark my words, Batista: soon enough, I'll be the WWE Champion.

Shelton raises his ECW Title high as the heat rains on him, but suddenly, Elijah makes an attempt at Batista! Elijah strikes at him with lightning-quick punches, but Batista soon fights back with a nasty hook! Elijah falls to the mat and scrambles out of the ring, but when Batista turns around, he's nailed right between the eyes by Shelton and the ECW Title! The Animal falls to the mat, out cold, and Shelton again raises the ECW Title above his head, looking down at Batista with a smirk. Elijah gets back in the ring, and points to the ECW Title, but Shelton says it won't happen, that he'll be the ECW Champion forever, and we go to break.

Commercial Break

JR: Welcome back to Monday Night RAW, where it is time for our main event! And, we are joined here by a very special guest: The Game, Triple H!

We then see Triple H at the commentating booth with JR and The King, and his entrance music can still be heard playing in the background.

Triple H: Thanks a lot for having me, guys. Always a pleasure.

King: So Triple H, you announced earlier tonight that you have a match with Mr. Kennedy at Backlash!

Triple H: That's right. I'm out here to make sure that Cena leaves something for me, because I want to be the one that took out the son of a bitch that retired Ric Flair.

With that, Mr. Kennedy comes out to great heat. The Intercontinental Champion arrogantly strides down to the ring, and introduces himself in typical Kennedy fashion, using an old-school mic to swing down from the rafters. During the middle of it, he's interrupted by John Cena's music, and the Chain Gang Commander comes out to a great pop. He still wears his spinning WWE Championship, and comes down to the ring, ready for action. He enters the ring, and the two opponents stare each other down before the bell rings.

Singles Match:
Mr. Kennedy vs. John Cena

Finish: The two had fought a hard battle, going through a commercial break, with Triple H putting them over on commentary. Now, Kennedy throws Cena off the ropes, and tries a clothesline, but Cena ducks and bounces off again. He takes Kennedy down with a flying shoulder tackle, then gets up, and goes off the ropes for a legdrop. Kennedy moves away, then gets to his feet. He picks Cena up, and punches away. He whips him into the corner and charges, but Cena moves away, and Kennedy crashes into the turnbuckles. He staggers back, and Cena turns him around, and gets him in the fireman's carry. Kennedy desperately fights back with elbows to the side of the head, then falls behind Cena. He swivels him around, kicks him in the midsection, and hits a DDT! He makes the pin, but Cena gets the shoulder up at 2! Kennedy argues with the ref, then shoves him aside and goes to the top rope. He steadily positions himself, but Cena gets up and walks over to the corner, and punches Kennedy in the head, causing the Intercontinental Champ to fall on the ropes! Kennedy's expression is one of pain, and Cena climbs the ropes. He positions Kennedy, then jumps off with a huge superplex! The two lay in the center of the ring, the ref starting a count. By 8, the two are on their wobbly feet, and Kennedy staggers over to Cena. He tries a punch, but Cena counters with a fireman's carry! He shows off a little, facing the crowd, then sees Triple H standing up! The two stare at each other for a second, but Randy Orton comes up behind Cena, pulls Kennedy off his shoulders, turns him around, and nails a huge RKO!

Winner:
John Cena

JR: Dammit, Orton! Cena was about to win the match!

King: He doesn't care, he wants to take out Cena right now!

Orton brings in the Undisputed WWE Title, and holds it over Cena. He turns around, and sees Kennedy behind him, as if he was going to attack him. Kennedy plays innocent, then Orton turns around again, only to see Triple H in the ring! Hunter gives Orton a hard stare, then walks past him over to Kennedy. The Intercontinental Champion quickly rolls out of the ring, and Triple H follows him up the ramp.

Orton now has both versions of the WWE Championship, Undisputed and spinner, in his hands, and drops the spinner. He backs up a little, and holds the belt in both hand, yelling at Cena to get up. Slowly but surely, Cena makes it to his feet, and Orton charges at him, but Cena ducks, and gets him in the fireman's carry! Cena hits the FU! Cena picks up both belts, and raises them to the crowd's pleasure as the show goes off the air.

End Show

----------------

Quick Results:

Kofi Kingston & Jamie Noble defeat Santino Marella & The Miz (w/ Layla)

Jeff Hardy defeats Chuck Palumbo

Cryme Tyme (Shad & JTG) defeat Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney to become the No. 1 Contenders to the World Tag Team Championships

John Cena defeats Mr. Kennedy (disqualification)

--------------------

Booker's Notes: I know that the wrestling in tonight's show wasn't that lengthy, but I didn't really think that these matches seemed important enough to make them a little longer. I'm going to try and do this for all matches that don't have a big enough feel, or too big, like Cena vs. Kennedy. Thanks.

Backstage Notes:

Quote:
-WWE has decided to offer Melissa Anderson a contract with the company, but it is unknown as to whether she will choose to leave Total Nonstop Action Wrestling for WWE. Rumors state that Anderson has grown to dislike her position in TNA, due to her being a manager rather than a wrestler.

-Vince McMahon held a meeting before RAW, stating that he feels RAW has enough star power to allow main eventers to take some time off, as long as the time is right. He said that he doesn't want people asking for time off during the middle of a feud. McMahon himself has been taking time off WWE TV, and it is unsure when he will return.

-Although management is very content with the current rosters for both brands, some names have been brought up regarding a release from the company. Most notably, Ashley Massaro and Torrie Wilson. Neither are scheduled to return to the ring, Wilson on doctor's orders, and unless they find suitable roles for them, both are expected to be released. Very few Superstars came up, seeing as how creative has been successful in finding roles for virtually anyone.
Booker's Notes: I don't really have much to comment on these notes, other than it's pretty much exactly what it seems. The reason I'm going to be giving wrestlers "time off" is because I've got nothing for them during the time. They'll be back, though.

Raw Review

Opening Segment
A very nice start to the show, that pretty much describes it in general. Cena making an appearance was a very WWE-esque beginning, and you pretty much got his character down to a T. However, I was aware of a few minor problems here- a few spelling mistakes here and there, some sentences not making much sense (i.e. John Cena: "because of Randy I was stripped of the same title I held over the title") and I didn't like Cena's remark "don't yell in my face"- it made him seem like he was being bullied or was timid, which is not like him. These little things held me back from enjoying this angle to it's full potential. But nonetheless, the feud between Kennedy and Cena here sounds very intriguing and would be extremely watchable.

Tag Match
A pretty good match, nothing special but some good back and forth action seemed to be going on here which is nothing short of enjoyable. Some of the moves flowed really well too, such as the side step into the enziguiri, so that maintained realism. I feel the first sentence of a match is one of the most important, but yours didn't really make much sense. Luckily it wasn't a complete turn off and I continued reading, which I'm glad I did, it just didn't make such a big impact. It's pleasing Kofi and Noble won the match up, so I give you props to that, but I think in the coming weeks The Miz will gain some 'W's under his belt. I hope, anyway.

Triple H/ Cena Angle
Again, another nice angle- to me it seems angles could be your strength in this BTB. It was nice to read how Triple H isn't letting Cena forget about him, and Cena sounded quite cocky there with his small talk. I think the angle was pretty good overall and was great hype for not only the main event but after it also.

Hardy/Palumbo Match
Another average match and none I really held any caring towards who would win, but it made sense to book this as it proved Jeff was the better man. Luckily it wasn't a squash match- to me it seemed like Palumbo had a good chance of winning quite a number of times, especially after the big boot. But overall this provided nothing special- it definitely secured the reason why Jeff holds the briefcase, however.

Mickie/Regal Angle
I actually liked this angle a lot, not only because Mickie's character was put across very well but it told two stories, the first being that both divas will definitely want the win and that surely a new assistant will be assigned by Regal. If you choose to do the latter, please leave it a few weeks, leave us waiting and guessing so it's a big surprise when/if an assistant is announced. Obviously it's up to you how you go about this but it would garner more of a shock reaction when chosen I think.

No. 1 Contenders Tag Match
It was easy to guess the winner here, but despite that, I think this was one of your better written match ups of the show. Both teams were faces and it was great because you didn't establish a heel/face kind of match that usually occurs in tag matches today, which was impressively original. It was just both teams seemed to be doing this match to please the crowd, and they did, because there were no dirty tactics or what not. The moves flowed well here, I especialy liked how Dreamer shifted the match quite simply with a roll through of the cross body and the right team won in my eyes, with a decent finish following the G9. Big props for this match!

Jeff/Regal/JBL Angle
A pretty cool angle, with every character here portrayed exactly how I expected. Nothing more to say on this really, just that it was definitely needed for the show and a nice added extra.

Cryme Tyme/ Katie Lea Angle
Katie Lea is god, and you really showed that in this angle, using her beauty to play mind games with Cryme Tyme. I really don't want Cryme Tyme to win at Backlash because they aren't in the same league as Burchill/Michaels, in fact they are pretty far from it. Perhaps this angle should have also been saved for next week, because in my opinion Cryme Tyme don't really deserve to be in two segments of the show when you have biger storylines going on. However, it was good enough and I hope Katie Lea provides a constant distraction to the team to prevent them winning.

Shelton/Burke/Batista Angle
A nice simple angle to send the message across to Batista by both Burke and Benjamin, but I really do think Batista should have had the last word here- to me he seems a person who can't just stand back and listen to crap. But the ECW title picture sounds great, and you've chosen amazing competitors to have it out with.

Main Event- Kennedy vs. Cena
Disappointingly short when compared to the Cryme Tyme match up which was nowhere near in comparison (but you made your decision clear here underneath the results which is cool) this was an alright match up but had the potential to do better. I just saw the match full of too many cliches and would have enjoyed a little bit more breathtaking action. But the aftermath was the complete opposite, as it hit all the right notes, with a frenzy in the ring. This angle is keeping me intrigued for sure...

Overall
A nice show, not your best but certainly not bad. I think you work strongest with angles but there are still some small problems such as some sentences not making sense. Despite that, however, you made some good decisions, nothing particularly groundbreaking but still, I'm intrigued. 7.5/10
