Re: WWE: Reimagined
SmackDown!
April 11, 2008
The show begins with a recap video of last week's opening, with Edge declaring that he will use his rematch clause at Backlash for the World Heavyweight Championship against The Undertaker in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match. We then fast-forward to the main event, in which Undertaker took on Chavo Guerrero. Undertaker was on the brink of winning the match, but Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder distract The Undertaker's Apprentice, Six, allowing the European Champion Edge to deliver a blatant spear to the World Champion, disqualifying Chavo. Edge stands over 'Taker with the World Title belt, then drapes it over him.
We then get the opening video, and the commentating team welcome us to the show.
Cole: Welcome, everyone, to Friday Night SmackDown! I'm Michael Cole, here along with Jonathan Coachman!
Coach: And don't you forget it, Cole. And it looks like we're going to start tonight's show in a big way. Literally.
Big Show's music begins to play, and the 7-footer walks down to the ring with a big smile to a great pop. He climbs into the ring, and is given mic.
Show: Last week, I came out here and talked about my loss to Floyd Mayweather at WrestleMania. I said that I wasn't going to let it bring me down, and that I'm not looking for some sort of revenge, either. Actually, revenge is very unlikely anyway, seeing as how Mayweather wouldn't ever think of challenging me again. And the three punks that who he bought out to help him beat me are all over on RAW. But I'm fine with that. Why should I worry about JBL, or Elijah Burke, or The Miz? The only thing on my mind right now, is facing whoever wins the TLC Match at Backlash, and beating them for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The crowd pops for Show's announcement, but gets even louder when the music of Chris Jericho starts to play! The Savior comes out, back to the crowd and arms outstretched, then swivels forward with a fist pump. He walks down to the ring, and is also given a mic. He give Show a smile, but he doesn't look impressed.
Jericho: Big Show, how've you been, buddy? It's been awhile, so just to refresh your memory, as well as the SmackDown! fans who haven't heard the news that I came over from RAW in the draft, I'm Y2J. The King of the World, the Ayatollah of Rock 'n Rolla, the Sexy Beast, the Savior, if you will. I'm Chris Jericho. You see, I wanted to come out here and say I, much like yourself, want the World Heavyweight Championship. And I was touched by your speech. I know personally how hard it is to restrain onesself from kicking JBL's ass. But as good as your speech was, I think that if it came down to the two of us, I think that I'm the more qualified contender for the World Title.
Jericho's announcement is met with a slight mixed reaction, although the cheers are more noticeable. Again, Show looks unimpressed.
Show: And why's that? Why do you, the Man of 1,004 Nicknames, why do you, Chris Jericho, think that you deserve a World Title shot over me?
Jericho: I'm glad you asked, Show, because now I get to talk about one of my favorite things in the world: how great I am. For starters, I am the first-ever Undisputed Champion.
Show: That's pretty big, alright. But are you also the only man to win the WWE, WCW, and ECW Championships? Because I'm sure that's me.
Jericho: That was you, that was all you. And you know what? You're going to go down in history as the only man to complete the trifecta, because at Backlash, the ECW Title's going to be retired forever, so everyone, let's all give Show a round of applause for that.
Jericho starts clapping, and soon enough, the entire arena joins him.
Jericho: You know, Show, I respect you. As a man, and as a competitor. I wouldn't be lying if I said that I'd be happy for you if you won the World Title. But the thing is, I'd simply rather have that Big Gold Belt around my waist, and I'm sure that these people would agree.
The crowds pops loudly, and the SmackDown! Assistant General Manager Theodore Long comes out to a nice pop as well. He has a mic in hand, and stays at the top of the ramp to speak.
Teddy: Hold on just a second, playas. Now, I am honored to have both of your talents on my show, and I think that both of you would make great World Heavyweight Champions. So I was thinking, why not have ourselves a preview of what could happen? Big Show, Chris Jericho, the two of you will both be taking on the current World Heavyweight Champ, The UNDAHTAKAH! Both of you are going to get your opportunity to show what you've got when you go one-on-one with The Deadman. In tonight's main event, Big Show, you'll be facing the World Champ, and next week, Jericho, you're going to get your time to shine, as well. Holla Holla.
Cole: What an announcement! Tonight, Big Show goes up against The Undertaker!
Coach: And next week, Jericho's going to have his chance at The Phenom!
The two look at each other, and point to themselves, saying that they'll be the next World Champion, and we go to the first break of the night.
Commercial Break
When we come back, we hear the music of Michelle McCool, and the All-American Diva comes down to the ring to a nice pop. She high-fives all the people she can on her way down to the ring, and once inside, waits for her opponent. The Black Widow, Victoria, then comes out, on the receiving end of a chorus of booes. She pays no mind, and walks down to the ring, all business. She enters the ring, and shoves Michelle, prompting her to jump at her with fists, but Victoria retaliates, fighting back as the ref calls for the opening bell.
Diva's Singles Match:
Michelle McCool vs. Victoria
Finish: The former's Women Champion showed Michelle exactly why she was at the top of the women's division before. Victoria attacked relentlessly, but Michelle had found an opening, and took it. Soon enough, though, the veteran Victoria regained control, and didn't let up. She whips Michelle across the ring into the corner, and charges at her with a clothesline. Michelle falls to the ground, with Victoria standing over her, shouting insults, and lightly slapping her head. Victoria helps her to her feet, only to get her in a fireman's carry, and hit with the Spider's Web. She makes a pin, 1... 2... No! Victoria moved Michelle's shoulders off the mat. The ref asks her what she was doing, and she responds that she's not done playing yet. Victoria picks Michelle up to her feet by the hair, and puts her head between her legs. She lifts her up in a Gory position, then drops Michelle with the Widow's Peak! The cover, 1... 2... 3! Victoria wins it!
Winner:
Victoria
Cole: Lately Victoria's just been absolutely destroying anyone she gets in the ring with.
Coach: I don't think she'd done yet, either.
Victoria poses for heat, then grabs the unconscious Michelle. Once again, she lifts her up in the Gory position, and connects with another Widow's Peak! The crowd gives her even more heat, and Victoria pretends to kick dust over Michelle. She steps out of the ring, and starts walking up the ramp, with the crowd booing her loudly.
We then head to the back, where we see CM Punk sitting on a large steel container, talking to a worker. He has a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in one hand, and a can of Pepsi next to him. Suddenly, Finlay walks up to him, with a somber look on his face.
Punk: Hey, Finlay. What's up?
Finlay responds with a sudden motion, slapping Punk's sandwich out of his hand!
Punk: Dude, what the hell?! That was my PB and J!
Finlay then knocks over the Pepsi can, the soda spilling all over Punk's jeans! Punk immediately gets to his feet, and starts to punch away at Finlay, with the Fighting Irishman doing the same! The two brawl for about a minute, until security breaks them up, pulling them away from each other as they struggle to resume fighting. We see them taking the two in opposite directions, then we go to break.
Commercial Break
When we come back, a clock ticks away, and MVP bursts out of the inflatable tunnel to loud heat. He struts down to the ring, looking at the crowd in disgust, then poses as his pyro shoots off. He enters the ring afterwards, and John Morrison's music starts to play to a good reaction. He does the slo-mo entrance, then walks down to the ring, where he takes off his coat and stares at MVP.
Singles Match:
MVP vs. John Morrison
Finish: The two men's egos could be felt from a mile away, and both struggled to prove who was better than who. Now, MVP tosses Morrison into the corner, but the Shaman of Sexy holds on to the ropes and jumps up, putting his legs on MVP's shoulders, then flips to ram MVP's head into the second turnbuckle. Morrison poses as MVP gets to his feet, then runs at him, but MVP counters with a kick to the face. Morrison stumbles back, and MVP then hits him in the back, taking him down. MVP then grabs Morrison's leg, but he pushes him away into the ropes. MVP bounces off, then connects with an elbow drop. He makes a pin, but only gets a 2-count, and gets up, helping Morrison as well. He kicks the Guru of Greatness in the midsection, then bounces off the ropes, hitting a facebreaker off the knee. He makes another pin, but Morrison kicks out. MVP grabs his leg again, and torques it in a kneebar.
For about a minute, MVP wrenches on Morrison's leg, but he refuses to tap. He tries crawling to the ropes, the crowd cheering him on. He finally makes it, and MVP is forced to let go. The Ballin' Superstar does, but immediately goes back to work, stomping away at the leg. MVP then picks him up and whips him into the ropes, and when Morrison comes back, MVP hits a low dropkick to the knee. Morrison grabs his leg in pain, and MVP makes the pin. Again a kick-out, and MVP picks him up, only to punch away at him. To his surprise, Morrison starts fighting back, rocking him with his own punches. He attempts a kick, but MVP catches it. Morrison counters with an enziguiri, dropping MVP, but he hit him with the bad leg! He's unable to capitalize, holding his leg, until the turnbuckles explode! Kane appears at the top of the ramp, and Morrison looks at him with rage. He rolls out of the ring, limping up the ramp to fight the Big Red Monster, who already went to the back. By the time Morrison gets there, he's been counted out by the ref!
Winner:
MVP
Cole: Once again, Kane comes out to distract Morrison, and this time, he cost him the match!
Coach: Morrison cost himself the match. He wasn't obligated to go after Kane, who seems to be haunting Morrison.
MVP stands up, and begins shouting that he's the winner, and the best. The ref raises his arm, but MVP breaks away, and yells at the crowd that he's the best.
We head to the back, and in a scene similar to last week's, Morrison is seen limping backstage, looking for Kane. He aggressively asks a backstage worker if he's seen him, but the man doesn't mumble any words; instead, he runs away. Morrison turns around, and Kane grabs him by the throat. He slams him hard against a steel door, then again, and a third time to finish the trifecta! Kane then releases his throat, and laughs maniacally as he walks away, and we go to break.
Commercial Break
When we return, the camera is set up in the General Manager's office, with Assistant GM Teddy Long looking over some papers. There's a knock on the door, and Victoria steps inside, the crowd giving her heat.
Victoria: What did you want to see me for, Teddy?
The look on Teddy's face tells us that he's none too pleased with her tone. Despite that, he stands up, and explains.
Teddy: Victoria, lately, you've just been destroying everyone you step into the ring with, with no regard for the rules. Two weeks ago on RAW, your attitude cost us a draft pick and a Superstar. This past Tuesday on ECW, you continued to attack Candice Michelle and Michelle McCool after your match, and you did the same thing a little while ago after your match with Michelle.
Victoria: Yeah, yeah, yeah, just get to the point already.
Again, Teddy gives her a hard stare.
Teddy: As the Assistant General Manager of SmackDown!, I'm currently filling in for Vickie Guerrero, and as my duty, I can't let you go around doing things like that, and you better not pull anything like that during your match at Backlash.
Victoria: What are you talking about? I don't have a match scheduled for Backlash.
Teddy: You do now. See, there are two hot free agents on the market, and both RAW and SmackDown! want them on their brand. I talked to William Regal earlier today, and we both agreed on having two matches for Backlash to decide who gets the free agents. One match will be a tag team match featuring Superstars, and the other will be a Diva's contest. I've selected you to represent SmackDown! at Backlash, and you'll be going one-on-one with RAW's Women's Champion, Mickie James!
The crowd pops big for Teddy's announcement. Victoria, who had seemingly not been paying attention, turned to Teddy as soon as he mentioned the Women's Title.
Victoria: And if I win at Backlash, does that mean I become the No. 1 Contender for the Women's Championship?
Teddy: I can make it happen. But you're going to have to hold up your end of the bargain, alright, Victoria? I want you to win, bring in the free agent, and I'll get you a Women's Championship Match. Afterwards, you can bring the Women's Title to SmackDown!, alright? You're my girl; I'm counting on you.
The two shake hands, then we cut back to the arena.
The music of The Academy begins to play, and Matt Striker, Kenny Dykstra, and Maryse all walk out to the ring to heat, wearing similar clothing. Striker comes out wearing green trunks, Kenny has a green tracksuit, and Maryse wears a schoolgirl's uniform with a white top and a plaid green miniskirt, all bearing the same emblem on them. They wait a moment for their opponents, and the odd duo of Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore come out to a nice pop. They do a little dance at the top of the ramp, high-fiving the fans on their way down. They enter the ring, removing their hats before the bell rings.
Tag Team Match:
The Academy (w/ Maryse) vs. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore
Finish: In The Academy's first match as a tag team, Striker and Kenny worked well together against Jimmy and Shannon, who also has control of the match at points, even having it to a commercial break, but losing it when we returned. Now, Striker throws Shannon off the ropes, then hits him with a dropkick on the rebound. Striker then drags him to his corner, and tags in Kenny, who goes right to work, pummeling The Reject with rights and lefts. The Running Back attempts to throw him into the corner, but Shannon reverses with an Irish whip, and Kenny goes back-first against the turnbuckles. Shannon then charges at him, hitting a clothesline, then tries to follow up with a bulldog, but Kenny pushes him off. Kenny then bounces off the ropes for momentum for a legdrop. He makes a pin, but Shannon is able to kick out at 2. Kenny picks him up and whips him into the ropes, but as he tries a clothesline, Shannon slides between his legs, and tags in Jimmy!
Jimmy storms the ring, taking down Kenny with multiple clotheslines. After three, he goes off the ropes and hits a spinning heel kick, then makes a pin. Kenny kicks out, then Jimmy waits for him to get up, before nailing him with a backflip enziguiri. He pins him again, but Kenny kicks out. Jimmy then picks him up, punching him for good measure, then throws him into the corner. Kenny crashes back-first into the turnbuckles, and Jimmy hollers out to the crowd, pretending to spin a lasso. As he's about to charge, though, Maryse gets up on the apron and sweet talks Jimmy. She turns around and slightly lifts up her skirt. Jimmy, Shannon, and the ref can't help themselves from looking, allowing Kenny to sneak up behind the Resident Redneck with a lowblow! Jimmy falls to the mat, and the attention's back on the match. Kenny goes to the top, and flies off with the guillotine legdrop! The pin, 1... 2... 3! The Academy steals it!
Winners:
The Academy
Cole: Did you see that? Kenny Dykstra lowblowed Jimmy to steal the victory!
Coach: I'm sorry, what? I was looking at Maryse.
Jimmy and Shannon leave the ring, Shannon helping Jimmy up the ramp, while The Academy celebrates in the ring, Maryse raising the arms of Striker and Kenny. Striker asks for a mic, and is given one to begin a promo.
Striker: This past Monday on RAW, Jamie Noble was running his mout again about how I'm "no good for Maryse". Well, Noble, that's not for you to decide, is it? That's Maryse's choice to make. When comparing the two of us, it's a no-brainer as to who she'd pick. Well, maybe not a no-brainer, because that would mean that you'd understand, but let's look review. I'm good looking. You, not so much. I have a Master's in education, and you know how to milk a cow. Or at least, I hope you do, because any jerk can do it. And as for my partnership with Mr. Kenny Dykstra, The Academy is the newest tag team on SmackDown!, and soon enough, we will prove that we're at the top of the class here on the Blue Brand, when we win the WWE Tag Team Championships. Now, you can all go to bed content that you learned something today, thanks to Your Teacher, Matt Striker.
The Academy's theme starts playing, and the trio leave the ring to heat, and we go to break.
Commercial Break
When we return, we are outside a locker room, with the 2007 Diva Search winner Eve. She smiles at the camera, ready to conduct an interview.
Eve: Hello. I'm standing outside my guest at this time's locker room. He is the current European Champion, as well as the former World Heavyweight Champion, and will compete to regain that title at Backlash in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match against the current champion, The Undertaker!
As she's about to enter the locker room, we hear some yelling. The camera turns around, where we see Finlay and CM Punk going at it again! The two are swinging fists and throwing kicks, until Finlay rams Punk into the wall. From there, the Fighting Irishman continues the assault, but Punk begins to fight again. His recovery is short-lived, however, as security then comes in again and breaks the two up, still trying to go at it.
The camera then turns back around, where Eve gives us an akward smile. She then walks into the middle of the room.
Eve: As I was saying before, my guest at this time. Please welcome the Rated-R Superstar, Edge!
Edge steps into view to major heat, wearing street clothes, with the European Championship slung on his shoulder.
Eve: So Edge, tonight in the main event, your Backlash opponent, World Champion The Undertaker, is going to face a former World Champion in his own right, The Big Show. Then in next week's main event, he will face another former World Champion in Chris Jericho. Do you think that Undertaker facing these two could help in the long run for your World Title Match at Backlash?
Edge: Well, Eve, my World Title Match isn't your regular match. It's not your standard, 1-2-3-pinfall match; it's a Tables, Ladders, and Chair Match. That's the match that I made. It's always been a great match, but if it wasn't for me, it'd be nowhere near as popular as it is. This match is, without a doubt, one of the most punishing, brutal matches in history. And that's what's so great about it. When you look up, you see the prize that you need to climb the ladder for, and when you look ahead, you see your opponent. The thing that's lead me to victory to almost every TLC Match I've ever been in, is knowing that I can use anything and everything I can get my hands on to take out the man across from me, knowing that I have to truly destroy my opponent if I want to succeed the long climb up the ladder, and take what's rightfully mine. I'm promising you right now, that that's exactly what I'm going to do to 'Taker. I'm going to use the tables, the ladders, the chairs, everything I can, and use them to crush The Undertaker, and win back my World Heavyweight Championship.
And as far as his opponents for the next two weeks, I don't care about them. If they happen to do some damage to The Undertaker, then that's fine with me, but it's not going to scratch the surface to what I'll be doing at Backlash. And when I become the World Champion for the fifth time, neither Big Show nor Chris Jericho will be getting anywhere near my title. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my hotel room, where my sweet Vickie is waiting for me.
Edge leaves his locker room, also showing Eve the door.
We cut back to the arena, where the crowd is hot after Edge's interview.
Cole: Well, ladies and gentlemen, powerful words on the European Champion's part, but it's now time for our main event! Undertaker vs. The Big Show!
Coach: This match will be explosive, Cole. It has the potential to headline any PPV, and we're going to be seeing it right now!
Big Show's music plays for the second time of the night, but the reaction is the same. He walks down to the ring, and enters the ring. He poses for the crowd for about a minute, when we hear a sinister, metal version of Tubular Bells (The Exorcist theme) start to play, and the arena goes completely dark, bar a red spotlight that shines at the top of the ramp. The fans cheer for The Undertaker's Apprentice, Six, as he begins his slow descent down the ramp, when we go to break.
Commercial Break
When we come back, Six's new theme is still playing, with the robed man formerly known as Kevin Thorn is at the bottom of the ramp, the red spotlight still shining on him. Suddenly, the spotlight goes out, and we hear a gong, the fans erupting from their seats in cheers as the show illuminates slightly with an eery blue light, mist surrounding the ramp. The Undertaker then steps out from the back, the World Heavyweight Championship around his waist. He slowly walks down the ramp, then enters the ring in his usual fashion. He removes his trench coat, then his hat, rolling his eyes into the back of his head. At last, he removes the World Title belt, and the bell rings for our main event.
Singles Match:
Big Show vs. Undertaker (w/ Six)
Finish: These two men went to war tonight, with Undertaker mostly on the receiving end of things, uncharacterisitic of The Deadman. However, the World Champion showed everyone why he is considered a legend by taking control of the larger man. The match spanned over a commercial break, and we are now in the second portion. Now, Undertaker attempts to whip Show across the ring, but he counters with an Irish whip, and the World Champion bounces off instead. On the rebound, Show takes him down with a big clothesline, then places his foot on his chest, and steps over him. Show then pins 'Taker, but The Phenom kicks out. Show then picks him up by the hair, prompting a warning from the ref, then throws him into the corner. Show then gets a running start, and charges at Undertaker, but the savvy Deadman movees out of the way in time, and the World's Largest Athlete slams chest-first into the turnbuckles!
Undertaker then bounces off the ropes, and after Show stumbles slightly from the corner, gets hit in the face with a big boot from the World Champion! This takes him off his feet, and 'Taker makes a pin, but Show kicks out at 2. As Show gets to his feet, 'Taker climbs to the top, and once Show is back to a vertical base, Undertaker flies off, nailing the flying clothesline! Another pin from the champion, but Show kicks out. Undertaker gets up and stands behind Show, signaling for the chokeslam. Show gets up, and turns around, only to get a hand clasped around his neck! Show gets out by powerfully punching 'Taker's face, causing him to fall to the mat. Show catches his breath, then makes a pin, but 'Taker kicks out. Show gets up, and signals for his own chokeslam! Undertaker rises to his feet, and turns around into a choke, but he responds by choking Show as well! The two refuse to stop choking, and fall to their knees from shortness of breath! Even then, they still refuse, and a couple seconds later, but an enternity for the two, they completely pass out!
Winner:
No Contest
Cole: What determination by both Superstars! Both refused to give in, and both men ended up passing out!
Coach: I don't know about you, but for me, Big Show definitely proved that he could be a great World Champion.
For a few seconds, the two try to get to their feet, until The Edgeheads charge down the ramp! Six manages to stop Hawkins, punching away at him, but Ryder slides into the ring, and starts to punch away at the World Champion. Six takes care of Hawkins and enters the ring to take out Ryder, but when he turns around to help his master, he gets speared by Edge! The Rated-R Surperstar had entered the ring through the crowd, and took out Six! Now, Edge prepares himself in the corner, and once 'Taker rises to his feet and turns around, is speared as well! Edge poses to heat, but then turns around and sees Big Show on his feet! Edge quickly rolls out of the ring, with Hawkins and Ryder joining him as he walks up the ramp, where he's heard shouting that he'll win the World Title back, and the show ends.
End Show
