News and Notes
It was reported on WWF.com that due to the assault from Triple H. The Rock will be out of action indefinitely. Inside reports suggest that this is a way to give the "brahma bull" some time off, in order to go to Hollywood to star in "The Mummy Returns". Considering that The Rock became the number one contender to the WWF title, seconds before being put out of action it is assumed that some changes will be made to the title picture. However no news on these changes has been released just yet.
Smackdown Preview:
Last Monday night on Raw, the world held their breath, waiting to hear some answers for one of the most shocking incidents in WWF history. However the reasons for the alliance between Austin and McMahon were not revealed. Instead we were left to witness another shocking moment, as we saw Austin destroy Vince's son Shane in a no holds barred match. Shane fought valiently, even coming close to victory on several occasions. However at the end he fell victim to the Texas Rattlesnake who carried on the assault after the final bell had rung. But just when things where looking at their worst for the chairman's son, his friend Test ran down to help him. The new Europeon champion stared down Austin, until the self-proclaimed "toughest SOB on the planet" shockingly left the ring. For perhaps the first time in his life, Steve Austin backed down from a fight, however they'll be no backing down this Thursday night as the match has been signed. The WWF champion; Steve Austin will go one on one with the Europeon champion; Test.
After ending the career of Chris Benoit at Wrestlemania 17, Kurt Angle's confidence has become greater then ever. So great in fact that this week on Smackdown, we will see the first ever "Kurt Angle Invitational". This will be an open challenge to anyone outside the WWF, to face Angle one on one. Kurt even promises to put his olympic gold medals on the line. Who will accept the challenge? And will they be able to stop "the Olympic Crippler"?
Last Monday night on Raw, The Rock faced Triple H in order to determine the new number one contender to the WWF title. After a hard fought match, the Brahma Bull earned a right to reclaim the championship. However Triple H put a stop to this early by assaulting him with a sledgehammer right after the match. Enraged about losing a title shot, "The Game" went as far as to break a sledgehammer over the Rock's back, putting him out of action indefinitely. What will be the reprucutions for Triple H? and how will this affect the title scene?
Anyone who thought that the heated rivalry between William Regal and Chris Jericho would end at Wrestlemania 17 couldn't have been more wrong. Last Monday on Raw, the commissioner once again used his authority to punish Jericho, this time by forcing him to face the 7 foot 500 pound Big Show. Even after Big Show decimated Y2J, Regal felt the need to take matters into his own hands, by striking Jericho with his own title belt. What will the comissioner have in store for the Intercontinental champion this week on Smackdown.
It has been rumoured backstage that there has been some friction growing between Radicalz members Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko, after Dean failed to help Eddie retain his Europeon title on Raw. Will this affter Malenko this week on Smackdown as he challenges Crash Holly for the light heavyweight championship?
All this and much more, only on Smackdown.
