PREVIEW [02 - 28 - 08]

SPORTMANSHIP ISN’T EASY!

Our WWE commissioner expressed his willingness last week to see the three men competing in this years WrestleMania main event demonstrate the novel idea of sportsmanship when interacting with one another. It was a naive and optimistic idea on behalf of commissioner Regal and Monday night on Raw, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and in particular the WWE champion Randy Orton showed our commissioner that whilst his wishes look good on paper, in practice, they are damn near impossible. Both Shawn Michaels and the Game, Triple H hate our WWE champion Randy Orton with unfaltering passion and dedication and Randy Orton feels pretty much the same about the number one contenders for his WWE championship belt, which he has held for over four months now. However after Shawn Michaels inadvertently hit Triple H with some sweet chin music this past Monday night on Raw, what will happen to their relationship? Shawn Michaels has already expressed his wish to place their friendship on hiatus until WrestleMania is over, a wish which angered Triple H! What now, I guess we will find out this Thursday night on SmackDown.

ATTACKS, ATTEMPTED HIT AND RUN’S AND A SHOCKING PLOT TWIST!

Monday night on Raw may go down as one of the all time greatest dramatic nights in wrestling history and indeed in the history of the WWE. After a shocking attack last week on SmackDown, Mr McMahon was resting in hospital. During a live feed between JR, The King and Jonathan Coachman who was stationed at the medical facility Mr McMahon was resting in, we discovered that Mr McMahon had been attacked in his hospital bed by two unknown assailants. Also that evening the plot thickened when Melina baited Stephanie McMahon, making Stephanie think Melina was just as much a victim as she was, only for Melina to try and run over Stephanie in the parking lot. Stephanie, still unaware of her attacker, will still be a putty in Melina’s hands as the betrayal continues this week on SmackDown. For the first time we now know that the mystery attacker is not just one man or women, we are dealing with a group of four people, yet Melina is the only identified member of this dangerous group. The question is, when will the others make themselves known and why exactly are they doing this to Triple H, Stephanie and Vince McMahon.

ALSO THIS WEEK…

>>> Last Monday on Raw, JBL discovered that he would be forced to face Chris Jericho at WrestleMania whether he liked it or not. JBL tried to get his army of lawyers to get him out of the match, but they couldn’t help him as William Regal was adamant that the WWE fans would get this match. However JBL had one trick left up his sleeve when he revealed he has taken out a restraining order on Chris Jericho. So how will Jericho react tonight, will he obey the restraining order or end up on the wrong side of the law?

>>> In one of the most shocking twists in WWE history last week on Smackdown, WWE legend Hulk Hogan attacked his tag team partner and the man he will meet in the ring at WrestleMania, Ric Flair. Monday night on Raw, the Hulkamaniacs waited with baited breath for an explanation, but Hulk Hogan was in no humour to be apologetic. Instead he went in a tirade, claiming the Hulkamaniacs turned their back on him and it was the Hulkamaniacs who destroyed Hulkamania. A furious Ric Flair tried to gain a measure of revenge but was prevented from doing so by WWE officials. What the hell is going to happen Thursday night when these two men are going to be in the same building?

>>> The long running feud between MVP and Matt Hardy has entertained wrestling fans for months now and this feud shows no sign of letting up. After returning at No Way Out earlier this month, Matt Hardy confirmed his intent to become US champion. MVP was hesitant and refused to defend his title, claiming Matt Hardy would have to earn it. MVP set up a gauntlet match for Matt Hardy last week on SmackDown and thanks to MVP, Matt was unsuccessful. This meant that as long as MVP was champion, Matt Hardy could not challenge for the title. However in a surprise twist Monday on Raw, Matt Hardy and one of his opponents in the gauntlet match, Shelton Benjamin attacked MVP, threatening to smash his head in with steel chairs. MVP had only one option and that was to grant Matt Hardy a US title match at WrestleMania. However MVP is mad as hell and is out for revenge tonight!

>>> This past Monday night on Raw, Edge brought back the “cutting Edge” for one night only. His guest was none other than Paul Bearer who has recently returned to the WWE to manage the Undertaker once again. Edge basically used the Cutting Edge as a means to publicly embarrass Paul Bearer in front of the thousands in attendance and the millions watching at home live. However it was Paul Bearer who had the last laugh when The Undertaker appeared and choke slammed Edge in the centre of the ring. This Thursday, Paul Bearer has revealed he will bring back the “Funeral Parlour” and he has issued an invite to Edge to be his special guest for the evening. Will Edge accept the invite? There’s only one way to find out and that’s to watch SmackDown Thursday night!

CONFIRMED MATCHES>>>

GRUDGE MATCH
MVP VS SHELTON BENJAMIN

JBL VS RVD

REY TO MAKE A CHALLENGE!
REY MYSTERIO VS ???

UMAGA VS MR KENNEDY

Haha, I couldn't agree more. Anyway mate I'm not busy anymore which means I can get down to some serious reviews

Na in all seriousness, I'm finished planning for my new project so I have bags of time, and seeing as this is one of my favourite threads on WF I'll be keeping a close eye on things again, and leaving my thoughts and comments as possible as I can.

The Smackdown preview was great, I love how you put so much detail even into the preview. The whole storylines are great in this thread and remind me of a certain Atitude Era. I'll be reading Smackdown mate

NEWS

- It's official, Brock Lesnar has signed with the WWE. It had been rumoured some weeks back that the WWE and former champion Lesnar were having talks. Initially it was believed that the talks were in relation to the possibility of a one off match at WrestleMania 24. However, Lesnar is said to have been egger to sign a long term contract and it is believed that WWE offered him a 12 month, mega bucks deal. Lesnar will not work house shows but will be obligated to appear on all TV and PPV events over the next 12 months when needed. This news comes weeks after the WWE officially announced that the Big show had resigned with the company. As of now there has been no return date announced for either man.

NOTE

- I've been super busy the last few weeks and i hope to have SmackDown posted in a week or so. Right now I’m preparing for my move to America and it's crazy.

I got to thinking, as I’m so busy, I should write a few shows in a recapped form. This is not a permanent thing, I hope to get back to writing shows in full very soon. I’m not expecting reviews as its very hard to review recapped shows and I’m not planning on going into all that much detail. Comments and general feedback would be much appreciated though.

(February 28th, 2008.)

- Shawn Michaels came out to the ring, demanding a match up with the legend killer Randy Orton. However before Randy Orton could respond, The Game and reigning WWE champion made his way to the ring and accused Michaels of purposely super kicking him Monday night on Raw. Shawn Michaels denied the allegation, claiming it was an accident. A smug Randy Orton interrupted and tried to manipulate both Michaels and Triple H, suggesting that they have a match up tonight on Raw. Commissioner William Regal then came out to the ring and signed the match and made Randy Orton the special referee.

- JBL and RVD fought in the opening match up of the evening. After a 5 minutes of wrestling Chris Jericho appeared on the big screen. He told JBL that although he could not get within 100 feet of JBL due to the retraining order placed upon him, he could get as close to JBL’S property as he liked. With that Jericho took a baseball bat to JBL’S limo, smashing the windows in. A furious JBL charged backstage, getting counted out.

- Melina approached Stephanie backstage and insisted that after what happened Monday, Stephanie should be more careful and maybe should not be wandering around by herself. Stephanie told Melina that she refuses to hide or be scared anymore and tonight she’s going to the ring to call her attackers out. Melina is taken aback by the comments.

- Triple H corners Randy Orton backstage and warns him not to screw around in the match tonight. Orton acts all innocent and tells the Game that he’s going to be a fair and impartial referee tonight in the Games match with HBK.

- Rey Mysterio comes out to the ring. He says tonight, once again he will show the world that he is as good or better than any big man in the wrestling business. This claim gets a mixed reaction. To the horror of the crowd, Rey goes on to challenge Mark Henry.

- In his match with Mark Henry, Mysterio is dominated by his larger opponent. Rey manages to get some offence in and receives a lukewarm reaction when doing so. However he is the obvious fan favourite in the match. In the finish, Mark Henry is about to hit a big splash when Lashley slides under the bottom rope and spears Mark Henry. The referee calls for the bell. After the match Rey spins Bobby Lashley around, nails him with a right hand and dares Lashley to fight back. Lashley won’t so Rey nails him again. Lashley still refuses to fight. Rey calls Bobby Lashley a spineless coward and walks away. The crowd don’t know how to react.

- Shawn Michaels walks in Randy Orton’s locker room. He tells Orton not to mess with him tonight in his match with Triple H. Orton insists he won’t. Shawn tells Randy he doesn’t trust him and no matter what happens tonight, he wants a 1 on 1 match with Randy Monday night on Raw. Randy accepts the challenge.

- Chris Jericho is in his locker room when JBL, accompanied by 8 police officers enter. JBL tells Jericho that he is under arrest for vandalism. Jericho smiles, amused by what is happening. One of the officers cuff Jericho and as they lead him away, JBL nails Jericho with a right. Jericho smiles and informs the officers that he was just assaulted. JBL says it’s a load of crap, but the officers buy it and arrest JBL who is fuming. The men are placed in separate squad cars and driven out of the arena.

- MVP and Shelton Benjamin go at it in a hard fought match up. Matt hardy is a guest at the commentary desk. MVP seems to have everything under control and is bad mouthing Matt Hardy. Hardy stands up and takes off his headset and starts yelling back at MVP. Shelton sneaks up behind the United States champion and rolls him up for the three count and a shocking victory.

- The funeral parlour set has been set up in ring. Paul Bearer is standing next to a grey coffin and invites Edge to the ring. Edge comes out onto the stage smiling. He says he isn’t dumb and he knows full well The Undertaker is in the coffin. Paul opens it up, it’s empty. He informs Edge that The Undertaker isn’t in the building tonight. Edge cautiously walks to the ring. The two men spew lines regarding The Edge, Taker match at Mania and Edge vows to end the streak. Paul riles Edge, claiming Mania will be Edge’s last ever match because after Mania, Edge will rest in peace. Edge nails Bearer with a right hand. The coffin lid opens and the Undertaker sits up to a huge pop. Edge is standing over Paul Bearer and is unaware that The Undertaker is standing behind him. Edge turns and the Undertaker grabs him and scoops him up for the tombstone. Edge slides off his back, spins Taker around and delivers a devastating spear. Edge gloats in the ring to boos from the crowd. The Undertaker sits up and Edge flees the ring in shock.

- A video airs putting over the long running and brutally violent feud between Kane and Jeff hardy and how come WrestleMania, they will meet in an ambulance match.

- Bobby Lashley walks into Rey Mysterio’s locker room. He tells Rey he has had enough. He says he has lost respect for Rey over the last few weeks and if Rey wants to prove he can hang with the big boys, then he can do it at WrestleMania in a match with Lashley. Rey informs Lashley that he has beaten bigger and better men then him and at WrestleMania he will walk out with the victory.

- Umaga and Mr Kennedy are up next. Both men will go at it at WrestleMania along with Finlay in a 3 way for the WWE Intercontinental championship. Umaga dominates the early stages, using high impact offensive manoeuvres. Kennedy uses his intelligence to outsmart the big man later in the match and following the “Mic Check” places his feet on the ropes in order to secure a three count.

- Shelton Benjamin is celebrating his victory over MVP backstage on the Raw set with MVP and The Coach when MVP interrupts. He tells Benjamin his victory was a fluke and that he wants a rematch Monday night on Raw. Benjamin accepts the challenge as Matt Hardy teases MVP about his loss.

- William Regal is in his office and informs the WWE fans that both Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan will be on Raw Monday night. He insists that both legends must be prevented from destroying each other, but he can only do so much to prevent this. He says both men want to get their hands on one another and he would rather see them have that opportunity in a sanctioned match, rather than an unsanctioned brawl. He signs a match that will see both men be allowed choose two WWE superstars of their choice to partner with in a 6 man tag team match for Monday night. Vickie Guerrero enters and hand William Regal a piece of paper. He reads it and looks surprised. He then announces John Cena will be live on Raw Monday night.

- Michael Cole and Tazz hype the two huge matches signed for Raw. The 6 man tag featuring Flair and Hogan and the long awaited match up between HBK and Randy Orton. They also hype John Cena’s return to Raw and note that he will referee the main event at WrestleMania and face the winner at Backlash in April.

- Kane squashes Jamie Noble in a short match up. After the match Kane gets a microphone and tells Jeff Hardy to watch closely, because he is looking into the future. With that Kane brings the steel steps into the ring and tombstones Jamie Noble on the steps.

- Stephanie McMahon comes to the ring to a decent pop from the crowd. The crowd chant “It’s Melina, it’s Melina” but she doesn’t acknowledge them. She goes on to say that she has had enough. She won’t run scared, she won’t hide and she will not stop until the people who have made her life hell over the last few weeks show themselves and explain themselves. She then demands the person behind all of this come to the ring. A pause, followed by Shane McMahon’s music hitting, much to the shock of Stephanie and the crowd. Shane goes to the ring and Stephanie asks him if he’s behind it all. Shane tells Stephanie not to be so stupid. He says he has just come from their fathers bedside and that he’s come here to protect his sister from suffering a similar fate. He tells Steph that he is deeply concerned for her well being and that she needs to be more careful. Stephanie informs Shane that she can look after herself and she doesn’t need his help. Then they have a huge argument over Triple H. Shane tells Steph that he’s no good for her and she is going to get hurt again. Stephanie tells Shane she doesn’t need this crap and leaves the ring. Shane’s music hits and he watches on as Stephanie leaves, with a very concerned look on his face.

- Backstage Melina stops Stephanie and tells her she can’t go it alone, Stephanie says she can and from now on she isn’t going to depend on anyone but herself. Stephanie storms off and an evil grin stretches across Melina’s face.

- Shawn Michaels and Triple H battle in the ring and Orton simply stands back allowing both men to tear each other apart. The finish see’s Shawn go for the super kick, HHH duck it and hit the pedigree and covers. Orton is outside the ring drinking a bottle of water, looking on. HHH screams at him to get in the ring. He slowly does so and makes a slow count. Michaels kicks out on two. HHH gets to his feet and gets in Orton’s face. Michaels is up, HHH turns around and Michaels hit’s the super kick and covers. Then surprisingly Orton makes a very fast count. Michaels wins it, but why the hell did Orton make a fast count for the man he will meet Monday night on Raw, a man he hates? Michaels looks confused as he watches Orton walk away with a big smile on his face. HHH has yet to move, but how the hell he is going to react to getting screwed yet again?

SHOW OVER.

SIGNED FOR RAW

Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton

6 Man Tag
Ric Flair & ? ? vs. Hulk Hogan & ? ?

Shelton Benjamin vs. MVP

JOHN CENA RETURNS!!!

(March 3rd, 2008)

- The show opens with The Game, Triple H coming to the ring. He is mad as hell. He accuses Shawn Michaels of secretly aligning himself with Orton before Mania to weaken him, the champ, in order to give themselves a better chance of winning at Mania. Michaels comes out and tell HHH that he is being ridiculous and that is that were true, he would not have challenged Orton to a match tonight. HHH makes the production team play the finish from Thursday night. HHH says the video speaks for itself. He tells Shawn he no longer trusts him, Shawn tells HHH the feeling is mutual. Once again Randy Orton interrupts them. Again he tries to manipulate both men and tells Triple H he should prove he’s the better man and referee their match tonight and show that unlike Shawn, he’s an honest guy. Michaels points out to HHH that Orton is trying to drive a wedge between them. HHH says it’s worked and agrees to referee their match up tonight.

- Shelton Benjamin and MVP meet in a rematch from Smackdown, where Shelton got the upset victory. MVP is very aggressive in the match up and takes out his frustrations on Benjamin. Benjamin to his credit, gets some offence in what is a highly competitive match up. The finish is simple, MVP hit’s the playmaker and covers for the three count and gets a clean win.

- After the bell, Matt comes out onto the stage sarcastically clapping. He has a microphone. He congratulates MVP, but warns him that at Wrestl
