Default Re: JD SPUR Presents: Total Nonstop Action

TNA iMPACT! Review (JD Spur Presents: Total NonStop Action)

S1 (Interview, JB & LAX) = Okay interview, feels weird to hear Hernandez speak for such a long time, but everything was okay.

** (Backstage, JB + Booker) = Interesting, looks like this'll continue later on in the night.

S3 (Daniels v. Dutt) = Good matchup, getting everybody involved could potentially lead to something quite interesting. I don't know if that was a typo but, it's the "Fallen Angel" not the "Fallen Angle", therefore, the City of Angels. Hope this leads Daniels into a title which he richly deserves by now.

S4 (Backstage, JB & Booker) = Boy, Borash is more in shape than I thaught he was... or is he really... unless Booker was running away from him... Anyways, the interview itself was quite great, I really felt Booker was actually there getting interviewed, nice job there. I bet it sets up something for later on in the night, but what I ask?

S5 (Backstage, Dutt & Lethal) = Boy, didn't think that chair shot was that brutal, I guess it's a work but, from the looks of it, it isn't because a single chair shot doing that much damage... who knows!?

S6 (Team 3D v. LAX) = Good match, and, great win indeed for the team of the Notorious 187 & Hernandez. Team 3D are kind of on a slump aren't they? But I guess it's time to bring in the new blood, fo' real, and let the older guys slowly go, no offense to the Dudleys.

S7 (In the ring, Sting + Angle + Morgan) = It's seems like deja vu all over again but the little twist with Sting putting his title and career on the line everytime the title's on the line (huh?) is quite interesting and ironic that one of his greatest rivals in his career, Ric Flair, is kind of in the same position as him, although Sting kinda of forced this on himself though. Anyhow, the Angle intervention saved this angle quite a bit but... when did Morgan began to speak? Or wait, should I say, who let Morgan take the mic?! I guess he was just doing his job but, Cornette would have been a better fit in there. The Main Event's a great announcement though, which really makes this whole segment work in the end. Ohh, it's Real, It's Damn Real, is what Kurt says nowadays. I think the WWE's got the rights for the It's true, it's true thing. Ohh well, doesn't really matter all that much, I'm just picky I guess.

S8 (ODB v. Gail Kim) = Good little matchup, little typo on the name of Gail's opponent, it's "ODB" and not "OBD", the "ODB" standing for "One Dirty B....". Didn't particularly like Don West's little distasteful bit of humor concerning Gail Kim's assets, it was kind of cheesy and not in character.

S9 (Backstage, Angle + Cornette & Morgan) = Okay angle, felt like it was rushed a bit, I don't know, it did set up nicely for the Main Event but apart from that it was pretty ordinary.

S10 (In the ring, Cornette) = Good announcement right there, that's stepping right into enemy territory, bet you have something even more surprising to make this show special. And you don't really have any other way than to have something big to fill up that show 'cause you're boosting it up from two to three hours, which could turn out to be a bad thing or, could turn out to be quite great depending on what's on the card for that night. But, overall, that's good news for TNA.

S11 (Backstage, Styles & Tomko + Angle) = It's official, AJ Styles has lost all the credibility in the world he tried so dearly to clinch on for the rest of his career. Wonder what Kurt needs Tomko for tonight.... hmm... problem solving?! We'll have to wait and see I guess.

S12 (Roode v. Abyss) = Predictable but good match nonetheless. Abyss gets the win and wham, gets attacked by the chiseled paisan turned weird looking but, kinda cool, bloodlust freak Rellik (Killer). Great little speech by James Mitchell, I'm quite enjoying that whole angle with the Hellborn Sons and all, big props for writing this stuff up thus far..... I've spoken too soon I guess, what in God's name is that... I mean, I know RVD has a liking for pot but, does that mean he's now ****ed the darkside?!?! I don't get it, what does RVD gain by selling his soul to the devil?!?! I'm sorry, but, even If I wasn't a RVD mark, I would not approve of such an angle. It would be like taking a former World Champ in Rugged Ronnie Garvin and bringing him over to another company and making him feud with Dino Bravo.... Ohh wait, that did happen!?!? OMG!! I think you've waisted away with one of the hottest free agents on the market and put him in a strange position to make such a debut..... Can't understand this decision at all.

S13 (Interview, Crystal & RVD) = Okay, does explain this a bit but, I just don't see it in my head or in my mind. Not the fact RVD's a heel, no, that's not that, but, I mean, it's just him and Rellik don't match and him and Mitchell don't match, that's just what bugs me I guess... Ohh well...

S14 (Angle v. Cage v. Killings v. Joe) = What can I say, great match. Although Joe's gets shafted once again, being the first out, this was great booking to me. I wouldn't work too much on the whole Booker & Killings relationship though, I'd just push for a Angle/Cage v. Booker/Joe match for Against All Odds as you're real ME. Nothing against Sting & Killings, huge fan of both, but, you sold it this way yourself, Killings is an underdog, so, you need your starpower people to headline Against All Odds, and what I've just told you would blow the roof of of the Philly Crowd. I'd also make it a Hardcore Match to suit the blood thirsty Philly fans. Anyhow, great way to end this show.

OVERALL = Not a bad show. Felt it was kind of rushed. You've got a great outline for you shows and you need to keep this up. I would try and upgrade my interactions between Tenay & West by listening to some of their commentary, trying to get a feel of how they would react to such and such. What really cut the liking of the experience short was all the grammar and spelling mistakes, really took away from your show. LIKE = Main Event. DISLIKE = RVD's debut.

Realism = 7/10
Length = 10/10
Quality/Entertainment = 7/10
Spelling/Grammar = 4.5/10
Matches/Booking = 8/10

Overall = 73/100 (B-)

Thanks very mcuh for the feedback LoB, and thanks for the tips.

The whole RVD thing was well just something different from his normal gimmick. And I didn't want to bring another big name as a face like TNA does but I can understand why some people will find it hard to get used to. 4.5 on spelling I'm such a fool with spelling. And about Jay Lethal, well the chair shot was to the back of the head and he was not expecting it. Didn't want to over do it with like 10 haha

And the Sting to Ric Flair thing are simerlar. I wrote the Sting thing before he said it on RAW and I knew someone would pick up on it. I did it first lol.

AJ Styles losing his cred maybe but not for long is all I can say

Anyway I'm greatful for it and I have some News and Notes up maybe tonight or tomorrow.

I don't like Truth winning but it makes sense with everything else going on storyline wise with Christian & Booker, plus Angle/Styles/Tomko. It worked out well and was very sensible booking, i just don't like Truth getting a title shot. Hope that clears it up!

Hey to start off with I should point out that I am unable to watch much TNA but have caught a few episodes, so there are a few wrestlers I am unfamiliar with, none the less great show.

Review

Perfect opener to the show, well written and very exciting, I have seen alot of Daniels from his time in ROH, Good win for him.

Bookers interview was good no idea who he's talking about as this is the 1st time reading your show, hopefully will find out later tonight. Lethal going into the ambulance was good. Smart bit of detail to have him so dazed he does not use his macho man act.

LAX vs Team 3D- another great match, fantastic tag team action. LAX are a good choice to win as i'm bored with Team 3D, there match against motor city machine guns should be good.

Exellent promo from Sting and Angle. Very well writtem, i could just picture Angle saying those lines. The 5 year old bit was very funny. Fatal 4 way should be good, i'll back christian cage to win ( because im biased lol )

The 3 hour special should be a good card, was hoping for a new superstar though, nice promo with Cornette getting fans hopes up a few times.

I dont like AJ being as lame as he is now, but thats nothing to do with you, still a great promo, very, very funny moment between AJ and Tompko. They two are gold together. Perhaps Angle will win later on.

Another good match between Roode and Abyss, after math was really good even though i dont know much about rellik, still though i think its strange to have RVD alligned with Mitchell, its not like him. Hopefully you can make it work.

Wonderful main event, some great action. Of all the people in the match Ron Killings was the one i felt least likely to win I felt Angle would be most likely, Good to see a performance from Christian taking out Joe and Kurt. It meant he looked good even in defeat. Dont see Kurt being at all happy with Tompko, and A Christian/Booker fued should be great.

Overall a very well written show, good booking, promos and matches. Ill defo check it out again.

Good exicting interview/opening to the show, with everybody in 100% pure character.
The segment with Lethal was impressive with good ideas with him having no machismo.

The first match was fantastic. I am a big fan of LAX in TNA so i was glad to see them win.
I was amazed at the promo between Sting and Angle and the comedy lines were very funny.

Not sure about the 3 hour special until i see it.
Don't ask me why but AJ and Tomko remind of WGTT so that was quite good.

The match between Roode and Abyss, i liked Rellik but RVD and Mitchell? Not sure about that.
A very impressive main event and the underdog win, in my opinon, for the Truth.

Overall: 7.5/10

On the show he announced that TNA would be going live for 3 hours at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Insiders at TNA say that this has been planned for over 4 months but they were waiting on the right opportunity to make it public. We will have to see how it goes and we expect to see nearly all of the roster in the action packed show, which may have a few mistakes along the way.

- Also on iMPACT! we saw the interesting debut of Rob Van Dam, real name Robert Alexander Szatkowski. He debut as part of the James Mitchell 'movement' and so far has been a shock for fans. He left WWE as a big baby face and now is trying to show more of an intense side. Be expected to see a big promo cut by him on the next iMPACT which could be hit or miss.

- There has been rumblings around TNA that Christopher Daniels and Ron Killings are getting big pushes. As shown on Thursday we saw Ron Killings gain a main event spot for the next PPV, Against All Odds. And in the main event last Thursday we saw development of the Angle/Cage/Booker feud. We have not got conformation on this but we believe that Cage and Booker will be having a gimmick match at AAO and Angle will soon be moving into a feud with one of these various stars. AJ Styles, which would lead to a face turn for AJ. Samoa Joe, which we have seen many times before or being thrust into a big feud with Sting. Also Tomko is said to be happy with his current situation and is line for a singles push in the near future after turning on Angle and AJ for his friend Cage.

- Sting also announced that once he lost his TNA World Heavyweight Championship that he would retire for good. Which brings us to the conclusion that he will have a very long title run, maybe up to 6 months and go out in a Blaze of Glory. It is said that he would like to make a return after a lay off for TNA and make a big comeback.

- Also we have inside news that AMW; James Storm and Chris Harris are expected to have a few backstage alterations and team together at the 3 Hour Live Show.

- Last part of news is that TNA have announced on their website that this Thursday that in a semi final qualifier for the X Division shot at AAO, Petey Williams will take on 'Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels and Kaz will take on the debuting D-Lo Brown.

TNA iMPACT! Preview;iMPACT! Zone; 17th January 2008

After last Thursday big announcement that TNA would venture out of the iMPACT Zone for a live 3 hour show, everyone is excited that we are only a week away from it. Fans in South Carolina know we are just 4 weeks away from Against All Odds on the 10th February.

Alliance Breakup?

Last week in the main event we saw Tomko turn on Kurt Angle and reline himself with ‘The Instant Classic’ Christian Cage. How will Kurt react to being double crossed by Tomko? How with AJ Styles react to one of his closest friend’s reline himself with Cage? All this with come to ahead this week as Cage and Tomko team with Ron Killings to face Kurt angle and AJ Styles team up with Kurt’s long time rival Sting in the main event.

‘The Truth’

Last Ron Killings won the chance to face the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Sting in a title match at Against All Odds on February 10th. With Sting announced that if he lost his world title he would retire, so will’ The Truth’ be able to step up to the plate and end the legends career? We will be able to see if he can in the main event this Thursday.

Impressive Debut

This past week Rob Van Dam can to TNA and made an impressive debut after he ****ed the ‘Hellborn Sons’ in their fight against Abyss. He ****ed Rellik in the beat down and now James Mitchell has confirmed that he will make his in ring debut this week on iMPACT!. It is unknown who he will face but it will sure be one not to miss.

X Division; Macho Man & More

Also this week we will hear for news on Jay Lethal on how he is recovering, will the Macho Man be Macho anymore. Also will have an small X Division Tournament where Petey Williams will take on Christopher Daniels and Kaz will take on D-Lo Brown, where the winners will go on to next week to fight for a place at Against All Odds versus the X Division Champion . Also in action there will be a Tag Team over the top rope Battle Royal for a right to face the Motor City Machineguns next week on the live 3 hour show from the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Confirmed Matches

Kurt Angle, ‘The Phenomenal One’ AJ Styles and ‘The Icon’ Sting vs. ‘The Instant Classic’ Christian Cage, Tomko and Ron ‘The Truth’ Killings

Petey Williams vs. ‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels

Kaz vs. D-Lo Brown

Invitational Tag Team Over the tope Battle Royal for Shot at Tag Team Titles

Rob Van Dam Debut

Plus More only on Spike TV!

Wow, looks like being a really good show. You've got some real good stuff in the preview to get people interested. The RVD debut, Angle/Christian situation is looking good, as is what would be a great match between Daniels & Petey. You can count on a review, PM me when it's up

At the moment I'm not a huge fan of TNA programming but I can respect that they have some great talent and have produced some entertaining television.

So with great anticipation shall I be reading your take on TNA. Here is my general review on all the happenings.

I really like what you have going on with the X Title. Two friends going at it, what better way to put a spin on it and prolong it? Throw Triple X into the mix. Love it. Let Jay and The Guru team up to take out Triple X and have that rematch for the X title. I smell a Ultimate X match along the way with Daniels, Lethal and Dutt. Ultimately I see a long feud between Lethal and Daniels coming out of this. I can't wait to see how you handle it.

I enjoyed the LAX/Team 3D match. I'm happy to see LAX pick up the win. A LAX/MCMG feud should be very entertaining and produce crazy matches. But something tells me that Team 3D aren't finished yet.

I really got into the Sting/Angle promo. If was something that I could picture in my head and that is a great thing. Realism is a key factor for me great BTB. Although the Sting storyline is somewhat parallel to Ric Flair's current storyline doesn't mean you can't take it and put your own spin on things. I see every wrestler coming out of the woodwork to try and take out Sting so they can claim they retired the Legend.
...
And I have a mixed bag of emotions towards Ron Killings vs Sting for the Title. On one hand Ron is one hell of a charismatic preformer, one that the crowd can truly get behind. But how much fan base will Killings have if he is in a match with Sting...where if Sting loses to The Truth, he has to retire. Maybe there could be a turn but I feel there will be a Booker/Killings pairing in the future.

After the Killings/Sting match-up I would love to see every opportunistic heel go after Sting. Guys like Roode, Christian and hell, even the newly debuted RVD. A Sting-Rvd feud could work well. At the end of it all I see Joe being the man to put the Stinger away and finally being able to capture the one title that has passed him by time and time again.

I touched on RVD very briefly and I would like to take it back to him for a moment. Interesting way to bring RVD in, but I have to hand it to you in the sense that I did NOT see that coming. TNA are too comfortable these days with bringing in a big name, debuting at a PPV with no feud and then they are just....there. I like the way RVD came in with a purpose. But I did feel that the purpose was a little forced. This is not the RVD that we all have come to know and love. Maybe some more history or reasoning for it would be nice next week. But an Abyss vd RVD match will be sick!!

Cornette's announcement, have to say I thought it was a new debut. But the live thing is THAT huge since it wont really effect story lines or matches but the big news is that it will be a 3 hour iMPACT from the Ballroom. PPV in Philly? 3 hour show in Manhattan. I have an idea where this could be headed but I won't say anything.

And finally I extremely enjoyed your Main Event on Impact. This is very close to that matches that I enjoy from TNA. I was disappointed to see Joe take the first fall. But it was good to see a few story lines progressed within one match and a new number one contender chosen. Although I would have preferred to see Angle take the win as I feel their feud had a few more legs to go on. But it should be interesting to see where you take the Killings Sting feud from here.

I shall guess my picks for this coming weeks iMPACT.

Odd main event with Sting teaming with Angle. And this match seems more like a Main Event before the PPV. But nonetheless it should be explosive with Sting and Angle on the same team and with what went down at the end of last week's iMPACT. I see The Truth picking up the win and building some momentum.

I definitely see Daniels picking up the win. Maybe with some help from Triple X.

And I also see Kaz taking the victory.

All in all, a very good start to what promises to be a very enjoying read week in and week out. You have got yourself a fan.
