McMAHON BOYS SCREW THE GAME. . . AGAIN!
Saturday Night’s Main Event at the end of last year was a nightmare for Triple H when the combination of Mr. McMahon and his illegitimate son, JBL arrived on the scene to wreck The Game’s dreams of once again becoming the WWE Champion, costing him the chance of winning WWE Championship from Randy Orton. And on the first Raw of 2008 last week, Mr. McMahon unveiled JBL as his son before letting us know that the latest boy wonder would we returning to the ring on a full time basis.
However it was later on when they made the mark after Shane McMahon gave his brother-in-law, Triple H his support and another shot at the WWE Championship, setting up a rematch from Saturday Night’s Main Event for later on in the evening. JBL even went to the reigning champion to offer his and his father’s services, but The Legend Killer made it clear he wanted to do it on his own. It appeared that JBL respected the decision, however it didn’t turn out that way, as just as it seemed Triple H had the match won, JBL and his father stormed to the ring and attacked The Game.
Getting Orton DQ’d saved him the title, but the McMahon’s weren’t done with The Game. Along with the returning Orlando Jordan, JBL was about to force Triple H into the Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club until Shane came out to save the day, or so it seemed. After picking up a steel chair from under the ring and helping his brother-in-law fight off JBL and Jordan, Shane then did the unthinkable and turned on Triple H, smashing him across the back with the steel chair. It was a chair shot that stunned the world, followed by the McMahon boys all celebrating in unison at the end of the show. What will they have to say this week, Shane in particular.
JEFF & PUNK TO FINALLY MEET AT THE RUMBLE
After being physically and mentally abused by The Straight Edge Superstar for nearly two months, Jeff Hardy finally had enough last week and went to resolve the matter with Raw GM, Shane McMahon. However, it was the Chairman of the Board that he came across instead, and boy did he make two big matches. First off, Mr. McMahon informed Jeff that he would be defending his Intercontinental Championship at the Royal Rumble against CM Punk.
But what came next was a shocker to Jeff, as he was told that he would be teaming up with Punk later on that night with the winning team gaining entry to the Royal Rumble match up. After seemingly being able to co-exist to pick up the victory against two more fierce rivals in Chris Jericho & Mr. Kennedy, Punk made a blind tag before Jeff hit a Swanton Bomb, then entered the ring to hit Jeff with the GTS, and then made the cover himself. What could possibly happen next when these two enter Topeka this week?
KENNEDY COSTS JERICHO. . . AND HIMSELF!
Mr. Kennedy made his point after suffering a defeat at the hands of Chris Jericho at Saturday Night’s Main Event, sending Y2J crashing down with The Mic Check. However, as much as Jeff Hardy and CM Punk were able to co exist for the most part last week, Kennedy and Jericho failed to do so, resulting in their defeat and their lack of a place in the Royal Rumble match. It all came to a head when Jericho hit his own partner with a super kick, sending Kennedy off the apron.
However, as soon as Kennedy was back on his feet, he stormed in the ring to get his revenge, nailing his rival with another Mic Check, which led to their downfall and the gloom that they won’t be competing for a place at Wrestlemania. After being on the wrong end of Kennedy’s actions in his last two outings, what can we expect to see when these two angry superstars come to the state of Kansas this Monday night? Fireworks are at the ready!
THE TRUTH TO BE DELIVERED!
We saw a video promo last week that featured a superstar by the name of Ron Killings. It appears that he will be appearing for the first time on Raw this week. What will we see from Raw’s newest superstar?
CODY TO THE RESCUE
It is no surprise to see that Carlito’s brother Eduardo is a chip off the old block, and last week he tried to work his magic on Kelly Kelly. However, his very to the point lines didn’t work on the star of Extreme Expose, resulting in the youngest member of The Cool Connection being slapped across the face. It was something that Eduardo didn’t take too well as he then grabbed the scared diva. However, she was rescued by Cody Rhodes who saw off Eddie and his older brother, earning a sweetly surprised Cody a kiss on the cheek.
Cody & Val Venis have had their problems with the brothers cool for a while, and later on in the evening, Carlito defeated Val to earn a spot in the Royal Rumble. This week, Cody will go one on one with Eduardo in the first match of Eddie’s Raw career. Having being trained by his older brother, is he ready to move on and collect a place at the Royal Rumble in the process? Or will it be Cody who will be stepping into the 30 Man Battle Royal in two weeks?
RUMBLE QUALIFYING CONTINUES
We saw Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio, Carlito, Kofi Kingston, CM Punk & Jeff Hardy book their places in the Royal Rumble match last Monday night, and with Cody Rhodes and Eduardo meeting for one spot, who else will be celebrating this week after clinching their places in the most important match in the WWE calendar year?
CONFIRMED FOR THIS WEEK ON RAW
ROYAL RUMBLE QUALIFYING MATCHES INCLUDING
Cody Rhodes vs. Eduardo
This is quite possibly the biggest rivalry that TNA has ever seen. This rivalry started way back in 2006 when Kurt Angle made his debut in TNA, busting Joe’s nose with a headbutt, and they have hated each other ever since. This will be the fourth match between these two and if it’s anything like the last three epic battles, it’ll be a classic. Going into this match it’s looks as if Kurt Angle is the favourite, as Angle has three victories over Samoa Joe, whereas Joe only has one victory over Kurt Angle. But you can’t underestimate the Samoan Submission Machine. Kurt Angle had appeared confident heading into Lockdown, he even sent Joe a message by assaulting him two weeks ago, but Joe proved that Angle is in fact afraid of him this week when he cornered Angle and made him plead for mercy. Joe decided not to attack Angle, he instead lifted up the TNA World title into the air, now looking in control heading into Lockdown. This is sure to be a match of the year candidate, and what will happen when Joe meets Kurt Angle for the fourth time? Will Samoa Joe beat his long time rival and become the TNA World Champion? Or will Kurt Angle show his class and retain the title?
Tomko and AJ Styles will face their biggest challenge yet as champions when they face off against LAX. The Latin American Xchange have been on a roll recently, picking up impressive victories in single and tag team matches since winning a shot at the tag team titles. Tomko and Styles however haven’t been as impressive recently, they have also been concentrating on other things like helping their leader Kurt Angle against Samoa Joe, and Styles has also been putting a lot of attention into Karen, who recently left Angle for Styles. The two teams have crossed paths on the last two editions of Impact too, but it was LAX who looked more dominant, clearing the ring of Tomko and Styles two weeks ago and scaring them off this week. What will happen when these two teams meet inside the six sides of steel? Will Tomko and Styles pull off yet another impressive win? Or is it LAX’s time?

Grudge match:
Robert Roode vs. Booker T
Back at the PPV Genesis last year Booker T became the latest wrestler to jump ship to TNA, and although he has become a big hit with the fans his switch left a lot of the TNA youngsters frustrated, Robert Roode especially. Roode expressed his anger at Booker coming to TNA and even called him washed up, and ever since these two have been going at it. The feud reached boiling point when Robert Roode accidently broke the jaw of Sharmell, Booker’s wife. Ever since Booker has been looking for revenge but has failed. This Sunday at Lockdown when they meet inside the six sides of steel for the Grudge match, there will be different motives for each wrestler. Booker will be looking to gain retribution for what happened to Sharmell, while Roode will be looking to prove once and for all that he can beat Booker T, and that he is worthy of moving up to the main event level. Will Booker gain his revenge? Or will Roode pick up the win?
This Sunday at Lockdown we will witness the first ever women’s title Three Way Dance match, meaning that after the first women has been pinned for the three count, the match will continue as a singles match with the two remaining participants. This match seems to favor Awesome Kong, as a triple threat match would have been a better chance for her opponents to win the title. ODB and Gail Kim have both had their title opportunities over the past few months, as a well as they have done, they always fell at the final hurdle. Going into the PPV the challengers have managed to get a oneup on Kong, but what will happen when they meet inside the ring with the title on the line? Will ODB do what she has promised many times before, and win the title? Or will Gail Kim surprise everyone and become a two-time women’s champion? Or will Awesome Kong show her dominance once more and retain?
Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt have been best friends in TNA for a long time, but that great friendship ended three weeks ago when Sonjay Dutt brutally assaulted his former best friend and even kissed Lethal’s girlfriend SoCal Val on the lips. That attack left the whole world shocked yet Dutt still went on calling himself “The Guru” and promoting peace. Lethal however returned the next week with no gimmick and no jokes, very seriously telling Dutt that they would meet at Lockdown inside the cage, and that he will beat Sonjay, batter him, and bloody him. Lethal has shown no hint in recent weeks of the “Black Machismo” personality that he used to show off, and he also declared that Dutt will see a Jay Lethal that nobody has ever seen before. Lethal has now gone back to being known as the “Lethal One”, but will his attack be Lethal this Sunday at Lockdown? Some sources say that SoCal Val will make her return to TNA this week too, and will no doubt be in her man’s corner. Will Jay Lethal get his revenge and retain the title? Or will Sonjay Dutt beat his former best friend and become the TNA X Division champion for the first time ever?

Singles Match:
Scott Steiner vs. Petey Williams
Former partners will collide at Lockdown when Scott Steiner takes on Petey Williams. This feud started after Petey Williams hit Scott Steiner with the Canadian destroyer severel weeks ago, after Steiner had punished Williams for losing a match for their team. Steiner wasn’t happy at all and spent several weeks trying to get a hold of Petey and punish him, but Williams managed to stay out of Big Poppa Pump’s way for a while, until Williams turned up during Steiner’s match and cost him the match. That made Steiner even angrier but he got revenge this past week on Impact when he struck Petey in the head with his fiest of fired briefcase. This Sunday they will meet inside the six sides of steel with no hiding, and no running. Who will come out on top? Will “Big Poppa Pump”get the victory? Or will “Maple Leaf Muscle” pick up the win over his former mentor and partner?

Lethal Lockdown Match: Team Rhino: Rhino, Kaz, Eric Young, Shark Boy and Curry Man
vs. Team Storm: Black Reign, Rellik, James Storm and Team 3D
TNA management’s Jim Cornette made the decision to put these ten wrestlers into the famous Lethal Lockdown match after a massive brawl broke out on Impact several weeks ago. Each team then had to make the decision of who would become the team captain, and James Storm and Rhino were selected as the captains of their respective teams, although they didn’t give their team much choice in the matter. The two teams have been very close to brawling over the last few weeks, especially this past week on Impact when James Storm hit Rhino over the head with a beer bottle. And by winning against Rhino this past Thursday James Storm has won his team the third entry in the Lethal Lockdown match this Sunday, meaning that Team Rhino will never have a man advantage throughout the match. That gives Team Storm a slight advantage heading into Lockdown. What will happen when these two teams collide inside the brutal Lethal Lockdown match? Will Team Rhino pick up the win here? Or will Team Storm manage to beat the team of Team Rhino?

Xscape match:
Elix Skipper vs. Johnny Devine vs. Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Mystery re-debutant
The annual Escape match was thrown together several weeks ago by Jim Cornette, after TNA management were convinced to hold the escape match as well as the X Division title match later on in the night by the TNA fans. Cornette announced the five participants and then announced that the final participant would be a mystery re-debutant, who TNA have recently signed after he was released from his WWE contract. What will happen when these six talented wrestlers meet in the Escape match? And who will outlast the other five wrestlers and escpape the cage to earn himself a future X Division title match?
