It was also confirmed last night on Raw by the power crazy Mr. McMahon that Jeff Hardy and CM Punk will finally meet at the Royal Rumble for Jeff's Intercontinental Championship.
And last night, the pair qualified for the Rumble match itself too when they were put into an unexpected tag team match partnering each other againgst two more unlikely partners in Chris Jericho & Mr. Kennedy. It was inevitable that the tension would explode, and it did with Mr. Kennedy reacting angrily after Jericho knocked him off the apron with a super kick. Once he was back on his feet, Kennedy entered te ring and nailed Y2J with The Mic Check.
However it backfired on Kennedy as Jeff sent him out of the ring and out of the match as it proved. It wasn't Jeff however who wrapped the match up, as Punk made a blind tag just before Jeff hit the Swanton Bomb on Jericho. Punk then got back in the ring and hit Jeff with the GTS before covering Jericho to qualify for the Rumble. It sure will be an interesting night in New York City!

Smackdown comes to Sacramento for the first Smackdown of the New Year and with all new rosters’; the ARCO Arena is expected to see some great action.
Hola’ Hola’ Lottery
Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long will introduce his new way of deciding matches for this week only, speaking to wwe.com Teddy said “… with a new roster and all the titles vacated I thought to myself what I need to do, and it came to me playas, something to help me decide matches for this week … a lottery playas". The system works by having each superstar (or team) having a number and a random ball will be picked and so on so forth, there will be one Lottery for singles and for tag teams. The numbers are at the end of this preview so keep a look out for you favourite superstars. We could have some great match-ups and also could have some unfair ones but Teddy Long has told us “that’s the way it gotta go, hola’”
Cutting Edge; Special Guest
Former World Heavyweight Champion gives us a special treat by having a Cutting Edge straight of the New Year, but his guest is probably even more special. The man came over from RAW in the draft, will he be raining on Edge’s parade, this man has unfinished business with Edge that dates back in to for years. Will Edge be glad to this man or will it be sour grapes for the man who thinks he should the World Heavyweight Champion on Smackdown? Find out who this special guest is on Friday.
Lottery Part II
The Lottery as we have already told you is going to be a focal part of Friday Night Smackdown. But Teddy Long will add even more genius to it by deciding 2 titles on this night. The Tag Team Titles will be decided and so will the recently added European Title, which has come out of retirement. With only four teams in the Tag Team lottery you can narrow down who will be your victors, the European is wide pen will it go to Europe own Paul Burchill or the Big Show; it could be anyone!
