Smackdown Preview
18th January 2008

The Corel Center
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

BLOOD WILL BE DRAWN THIS FRIDAY
After the shocking scenes two weeks ago when “The Samoan Bulldozer” Umaga brutally attacked The Undertaker backstage before their scheduled Last Ride Match and left him for dead in a graveyard, we found out last week from the irate General Manager, William Regal who announced that this week, the dead man will be back and will go head to head with Umaga in a First Blood Match. In what will be one of the biggest match ups in Smackdown history, will The Undertaker gain revenge on The Samoan Savage for costing him a shot at the World Championship over a month ago and for the heinous attack two weeks back?

Last week when Regal took his anger out on Edge as well as Umaga, the two superstars went head to head with Batista and the World Heavyweight Champion, Shawn Michaels. Just as it looked like Edge and Umaga had the match under control, Umaga heard something he really didn’t want to when the lights went out and the dreaded gong struck the arena. The Samoan Bulldozer didn’t seem fazed at all as he left ringside in search for The Undertaker, leaving Edge on his own. We were informed that Umaga was just a victim of the phenom’s mind games and that the legendary figure of The Undertaker wasn’t present last week. It will be a different story this Friday night when blood will flow, and it’s all legal!

EDGE COMING HOME WHILE MICHAELS WALKS THROUGH THE GATES OF HELL
In what could be a very different week, “The Rated R Superstar” Edge may just enjoy himself more than usual as he has the pleasure of visiting his home state of Ontario, but what does that mean for the World Heavyweight Champion, Shawn Michaels? It’s common knowledge that The Heartbreak Kid is not the most popular man to the Canadian fans, and being in Edge’s back yard, what exactly will he be letting himself in for this Friday night?

Last week, HBK felt the force of Umaga during the main event tag team match that saw Edge get himself disqualified by low blowing Batista after Umaga left ringside and ultimately his partner too. Edge however managed to use the situation to his advantage by leaving Batista on the mat after a spear and stood tall at the end of the show, and stood above Michaels’ body that lay below Edge on the outside of the ring. With Edge staking a claim for a title shot, has he done himself any favours? Only time will tell!

CHAVO GETS ONE UP ON DYKSTRA
Chavo Guerrero made his mark for a second straight week on his arch nemesis, Kenny Dykstra last Friday when he left him laying in the middle of the ring and with the bombshell that they will be meeting in over two weeks time at the Royal Rumble for Dykstra’s Cruiserweight Championship. Chavo was the victim of some very strong comments from the arrogant champion following Chavo’s revenge attack the week before, but when Chavo took offence, Dykstra became the victim after Chavo saw red and gave Dykstra a long overdue beat down before announcing their match at the Rumble. Dykstra will surely be very angry at the events of last week, but just what can we expect from the young superstar?

MATT TO PICK PARTNER TO GO TO WAR
We learnt earlier this week that William Regal has made a tag team match for this Friday night that will see the United States Champion, Matt Hardy join forces with a partner of his choice to take on fellow Royal Rumble qualifiers Shelton Benjamin and Matt’s long term rival, MVP. All three men qualified for the Rumble last week, and it was Shelton who made his mark by beating former partner Charlie Haas to do so. Who will Matt pick to stand alongside him in what should be a very competitive match up this week?

ROAD TO THE TAG TITLES STARTS THIS WEEK
Starting this Friday, we will see four teams take part in what William Regal has named “The Number One Contendership Series”. For the next three weeks, we will see these teams go at it with one being eliminated each week until there are just two left to battle it out for a shot at the WWE Tag Team Champions, Paul Burchill and Harry Smith, The UK Pack. The team that loses the match will be the ones that are eliminated, leaving three teams to go at it in a triple threat match next week. With a lot at stake, who will prevail and who will fall at the first hurdle this coming week?

PLUS
Royal Rumble Qualifying will continue this week, and with limited places left, who will gain one of the final places and a potential title shot at Wrestlemania?

Chris Harris made his Smackdown debut last week when he overcame Matt Striker to win a place in the Royal Rumble match up. What will follow for Smackdown’s newest superstar when he arrives in Ontario this Friday?

Over the past few weeks, we have seen a variety of strange video messages that seem to be indicating that “The Big Red Machine” Kane will be returning. Two weeks ago we saw a video that contained the message “There will be hell on earth”, and last week we saw a red mask and with the words “He will emerge again” underneath. Will we get any further clues this week?

CONFIRMED FOR THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

FIRST BLOOD MATCH
The Undertaker
vs. Umaga

Matt Hardy & ???

vs. MVP & Shelton Benjamin

NUMBER ONE CONTENDERSHIP SERIES
LOSERS ARE ELIMINATED, WINNERS ADVANCE TO TRIPLE THREAT MATCH NEXT WEEK
Jimmy Wang Yang & Super Crazy
vs. Matt Sydal & Johnny Jeter
vs. The Pitbulls
vs. John Morrison & The Miz

***PYRO***
***PYRO***

“Metalingus” blasts out to a surprisingly positive reception as Edge walks down to the ring in jeans and a T Shirt with a big smile on his face

Edge:
Tonight is a night to celebrate because your hero has come home. It’s not Toronto, but it’ll do because tonight, the disgrace of a World Heavyweight Champion has to come into our country. . . Tonight Shawn Michaels walks back onto Canadian soil

***HUGE AMOUNT OF BOOS AND SOME CHEERS MIXED TOGETHER***

Edge:
You know, American’s don’t see it because they’re all blind from all the crap they shove down their throats every single day, making themselves the laughing stock of the obese country they created, but at least tonight, Shawn Michaels gets the treatment he deserves, just like when I rained on his parade two weeks ago and speared him during his victory celebration

***POP with some Boos***

Edge:
Well Shawn you’re in for a whole lot of tough loving tonight because you’re in a real country. A country that doesn’t get kicks out of running down college halls and gunning anyone down who just happens to have had the misfortune to have been born in your act first think later of a country. . . It really does pay to be in a proper country like ours, where you know that your life expectancy isn’t in any danger if you go to college. Maybe that kind of explains why America is full of brainless morons who do nothing but try and tell people rap is actually music and that eating everything you can in one day is good for you. . . But enough about that because I’m depressing myself about the thought of going back to that hell hole as soon as this show’s over. But at least tonight, Shawn Michaels gets fed to the lions here in Ontario, Canada

***BIG POP***

Edge:
See Shawn, you know exactly what you’re in for tonight, but we all know you’re not gonna bring yourself out here and here the three words that are gonna haunt you for the rest of your life. . . You screwed Bret

***MAJOR HEAT***

“Sexy Boy” blasts out & a low key Shawn Michaels walks out to the ring in casual clothes to a negative reaction, with some cheers being heard

“YOU SCREWED BRET, YOU SCREWED BRET. . .”

Shawn Michaels:
Look, I’m sick and tired of having to go over Montreal every time I step foot across the border, or when someone like you tries to get one over on me

***HEAT***

Shawn Michaels:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. . . What happened that night was something that I’m not proud of, but it’s ten years ago. . . Ten. . . And ten years down the line, I still feel the same way I did that night. . . Like it or not, I did what had to be done. I did the right thing and I’m not going to be made to feel guilty about it

***MAJOR HEAT***

Shawn Michaels:
The only thing that matters is that right now, I am the World Heavyweight Champion and you’re not. And as far as you’re concerned, I will do the exact same thing to you that I did to Bret. . . And this time, what needs to be done is me kicking your teeth down your throat

***HEAT***

Edge:
Yeah Shawn, just change the record why don’t you? I’m sure you’d love us all to forget what happened at the Survivor Series, but the fact is no one from Canada ever will, because it just reminds every single one of us that you are a no good, selfish piece of American crap

***BIG POP***

Edge:
And if you think I’m gonna let you forget it, you’ve got another thing coming. Every single one of these people here tonight wants me to pay you back for ’97 right here, right now in the middle of this ring, and you know somethin Shawn. . . I’m not gonna do it because I owe Canada nothing

***MAJOR HEAT***

Edge:
Canada should be grateful I put the damn country on the map. When someone from anywhere across the world mentions this country, do you know what the first thing is that enters their mind?. . . ME! . . . So if you losers think I’m gonna get one over on Shawn Michaels tonight as payback for what happened in Montreal, you can kiss my ass

***MAJOR HEAT***

Shawn Michaels:
Well Edge, I didn’t expect anything less of you, but I do know one thing that all these people are thinking right now. . . Bret Hart has twice the pair you do. . .

***POP***

Shawn Michaels:
If you wanna make me pay for ’97, go ahead, I beg of ya. But we know it ain’t gonna happen don’t we Edge?. . . And why? . . . Because you’ve not got a set. In fact the only time you’d ever. . .

“I Walk Alone” blasts its way through the speakers as a very angry Batista makes his way down to the ring in an expensive looking suit and sunglasses, getting a mainly positive response

Batista:
Woah, wait just a god damn minute. . . If anyone is gonna get even tonight, it’s me

***POP***

Batista:
I’ve waited a long time to say this to your face Edge, but it’s about time you suffered the consequences of taking the World Title away from me. . . And I can’t think of a better time or place

Batista takes his jacket off and rolls his sleeves up

Edge: Are you kiddin me Dave? I can’t believe you even had the nerve to come out here. I know these morons hate good old HBK, but they hate you twice as much. Not because you screwed any other second rate Canadian like Bret, but because no offence Dave, you suck

***HEAT***

Edge:
You stink every arena out the moment you step through those ropes. And if I had the chance that I deserve, I’d show the god damn pair of ya that I’m more of a deserving champion than the both of you put together

***HEAT***

Edge:
I’m the future of this god damn show, what have you two got to look forward to apart from being grandparents? Oh sorry Dave, I forgot about that flock of yours. I guess it’s only normal that you’re daughter’s bed hop as much as their dad

***GASPS OF SHOCK FILL THE ARENA***

Batista looks pissed as he grabs Edge’s microphone and drops it on the floor and goes for him, but HBK gets in between them as Edge laughs in Batista’s face

Shawn Michaels: Woah, big man, don’t give him what he wants, he’s not worth it. . .

Shawn looks back at Edge

Shawn Michaels: If it was up to me Edge and I could shut you up by giving you what you want, I’d do it in a heartbeat, but unfortunately I’m only the World Champion and not the guy who makes all the rules around here

Batista calms himself down a little

Batista: Hey, if anyone is getting a title shot tonight, it’s me. . . I have my rematch due, but Shawn, if someone is gonna be kicking his ass tonight, it’s gonna be. . . I’ve waited ever since Saturday Night’s Main Event to get my hands on the scrawny little bastard, and I’m not gonna wait a second longer

Edge reaches down and picks his microphone back up as Shawn shakes his head

Edge: Look fellas, you both need to get real. Neither of you is capable of beating the Rated R Superstar, and if you face me tonight, you’ll have all these losers hoping and praying that the Canadian Hero can beat the crap out of the both of ya and take back what belongs to me, the World Heavyweight Championship

***HEAT***

“Promenade” hits & William Regal walks out to the entrance with a microphone in hand

***POP***

Michaels and Batista turn round to look up

William Regal: Look, I’ve had just about of enough of you Edge running that bloody speed motor of a mouth of yours, and I’m going to put a stop to it tonight

***POP***

William Regal:
Now I have to look at what is the correct course of action in this situation, and I believe I have come to a suitable solution. . . And that is that at the Royal Rumble, it will be the former World Champion Batista, using his rematch clause and facing the winner of a very special match that will take place here tonight in that very ring

***POP***

Edge:
Get to the point Regal

Michaels walks to the ropes to listen carefully, looking intrigued

William Regal: SHUT THAT BLOODY TRAP OF YOURS WHEN I’M TALKING TO YOU

***POP***

William Regal:
Right here tonight, we are going to have ourselves a World Championship match with Shawn Michaels defending his title against Edge

***HUGE POP***

Edge smiles as Batista and Michaels have their backs to him as they look up at Regal. Batista then turns round, but Edge charges at him and hits him with the spear. Michaels turns round to see Edge smirking as he then runs at Michaels for another spear, but Michaels hits him with the super kick. Michaels grins slightly, then looks down at Edge and lifts the microphone to his mouth

Shawn Michaels: I guess the saying’s right. . . Good old HBK always comes out on top in Canada

“Sexy Boy” plays again as Michaels gets a very mixed response from the crowd as he looks down at Edge with a sadistic smile on his face

***COMMERCIAL BREAK***

***VIDEO PROMO***

***CUT BACKSTAGE***

John Morrison & The Miz are in the back, around the curtain area

***HEAT***

Miz looks real goofy as Morrison remains focused

The Miz: It all starts tonight, the road to the tag team championships baby. They’re gonna be ours Johnny my good man once we’ve gone them every last team one by one until there is just one team left. . . The Miz and John Morrison, the greatest tag team on Smackdown baby

John Morrison: You have to calm yourself down. . . Yes we have everything that anyone could possibly possess to become the last team left standing in three weeks time, but you need to channel your mind in order to ensure that the most deserving duo do indeed prevail as the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship. . . First off we need to survive tonight, however with the sheer ability that we have in abundance, we will not only breeze through this week, but next week too and the week after when we prove to the world that we are truly deserving contenders. Then and only then we will have the chance to enjoy the sweet smell of success that goes hand in hand with the status we shall earn four ourselves before we then reach the ultimate accolade of becoming the next Tag Team Champions

Jamie Noble & Kid Kash, The Pitbulls then appear behind them

***HEAT***

Jamie Noble:
Is that so boys? Cos we got a real problem with that. . . You two don’t stand a chance tonight. Myself and The Notorious K I D here are gonna take each team apart week by week including you two and go get ourselves some gold

Kid Kash: He ain’t lyin, and there ain’t a damn thing you can do about it

John Morrison: Well I guess we will have to wait and see won’t we?

Miz stands right by Morrison, trying to act up real big as Noble & Kash just grin and turn round, then walk out of the shot as Morrison watches them leave

***CUT TO THE ARENA***

***MATCH #1***

ROYAL RUMBLE QUALIFYING MATCH
Drew McIntyre
vs. Chris Masters

ENDING:
Masters and McIntyre both stand back up to their feet and start to pummel each other with hard right hands, but it’s Masters who gets the imitative, landing two straight until McIntyre then blocks a third. He grabs Masters by the wrist and whips him into the ropes, and as Masters comes back, McIntyre lifts him over his shoulder with one arm. Masters is back up quickly and turns round into a hard right from McIntyre, who then grabs Masters by the head and turns him round, then falls back to the mat, hitting him with a NECKBREAKER. . . . . Some cheers come from the crowd as McIntyre turns himself over on the mat and hooks Masters leg for a cover. . . . .

1 . . . . .

2 . . . . .

NO!!!

McIntyre is a little shocked at that one, and takes his time as he stands back up, then reaches down to pull The Masterpiece back up to a vertical base. He then tries for an irish whip, but is surprises as Masters is able to reverse it, and as the Scotsman comes back off the ropes, Masters steps forward and grabs him with both arms around the chest, then lifts him in the air for a BEAR HUG. . . . . Masters is about to start squeezing tight when McIntyre is able to fight it and escape by smashing his arms into each side of Masters’ head. Back on his feet, McIntyre turns back and runs into the ropes, but comes back into a shoulder barge from Masters, knocking him down to the mat. McIntyre is back up quickly though, but Masters slips behind him and pushes him back to his knees, then grabs legs and pulls them around his waist as he then lifts McIntyre up and tosses him behind with a WHEELBARROW SUPLEX. . . . . Masters turns over quickly on the mat and immediately reaches across and covers him. . . . .

1 . . . . .

2 . . . . .

NO!!!

Masters doesn’t look happy as he then stands back up behind McIntyre and stalks him for THE MASTERLOCK. . . . . The crowd boo and try to warn McIntyre as he slowly makes his way up to his knees with Masters lying in wait behind him. And the moment the Scottish superstar is back up on his feet, Masters pounces and grabs him around the back of the head, but McIntyre is able to slip behind before the hold is locked in properly, grabs Masters around the waist and then plants him with a RELEASE GERMAN SUPLEX. . . . . A pop comes from the crowd, but McIntyre doesn’t go for a cover and rushes back to his feet as he looks to wrap the match up by pulling Masters up to his knees, and then positions his head between his legs for a SPIKE PILEDRIVER. . . . . Masters though takes advantage as McIntyre delays and ends up being tossed backwards with a back body drop.

Masters looks a little worse for wear as he picks himself back up to his knees, followed by McIntyre. Both men get back up on their feet and turn around with the Scotsman throwing a right at The Masterpiece, but Masters ducks it and slips behind him. He pounces straight away by pulling McIntyre and setting him up perfectly for THE MASTERLOCK. . . . . Masters locks it in fully and starts applying the pressure to the struggling McIntyre who screams out in pain but desperately tries to fight it, trying to hold on and lift his arms up in the hope he can break the hold. The fight starts to lessen as he weakens and slouches in Masters’ arms and drops eventually drops to his knees, with the referee then calling for the bell

AFTERMATH: Masters’ music hits as he lets go of McIntyre who drops to the mat. The referee raises his arm as Masters then walks over to the ropes and poses, showing his muscles off before walking to the back with a smug look on his face with Charlie Haas walking out to the aisle and congratulating him

***CUT BACKSTAGE***

William Regal is in his office when Kenny Dykstra, in casual clothes storms in with the Cruiserweight Championship over his shoulder

***HEAT***

Kenny Dykstra:
What the hell are you thinkin Regal? . . . What the hell was going through that head of yours when you decided to give Chavo Guerrero of all people a shot at my Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble?

***POP***

Kenny Dykstra:
Just what the hell has he done to deserve the chance to step into the ring with me, let alone with my title on the line? . . . He was one of the seven men I beat at the Survivor Series you know, how the hell can you even put him in my league huh? . . . I mean look at me, I’m everything Chavo’s not. . . Yeah I’m younger and better looking, but I’m the greatest Cruiserweight Champion of all time, and it’s about time you and Chavo realised that

***HEAT***

Kenny Dykstra:
And you know what else Regal, you knew full well he was here the last couple of weeks and you let him walk out to that ring and put his hands on me. . . Me, Kenny Dykstra, the future hall of famer, what are you gonna do about him jumping me huh? . . . Let me guess. . . nothing

William Regal: Well let me tell you something Kenneth, I decide what goes on around here, not you. I am the only person who makes the decisions on what happens on this show, and if you do not want to face Chavo at the Royal Rumble, then that is fine. It does however mean that I will be forced to strip you of that belt of yours that you so proudly show off every occasion you get

***POP***

Kenny Dykstra:
You can’t do that Regal

William Regal: I think you will find I can. This is my show and I’m not having the likes of you and Edge walk around here like you own the bloody place. And you know what young Kenneth? I think I might have found a way for you to get your frustration out of your system tonight. . . How would you like to win a place in the Royal Rumble match tonight?

Kenny Dykstra: How do you think I’d feel? Of course I wanna a shot at the Rumble

William Regal: Then it’s agreed. Tonight you will be one of three men in a triple threat match with the superstar who loses the match being the only one not to advance to the Royal Rumble match

Kenny Dykstra: Let me get this straight. Two of us will be in the Royal Rumble and the loser isn’t

William Regal: That is exactly right. I get the impression that you are a lot more intelligent than you look

Kenny Dykstra: I’m just as smart as I am talented. It’s what makes me the perfect champion

William Regal: Well I just hope the perfect champion as you put it doesn’t lose tonight

Kenny Dykstra: Don’t you worry Regal, that won’t be happening

Kenny smiles and half turns round

William Regal: Well I hope not since you will be wrestling Chavo Guerrero tonight

***POP***

Dykstra turns back round

Kenny Dykstra: You’re kidding me right?

William Regal: Now why would I joke about a thing like that?

Kenny shakes his head in frustration, then turns back round and leaving the room as Regal smiles slightly

William Regal: That’ll bloody well teach you

NUMBER ONE CONTENDERSHIP SERIES
LOSERS ARE ELIMINATED, REMAINING TEAMS ADVANCE TO TRIPLE THREAT MATCH NEXT WEEK
Jimmy Wang Yang & Super Crazy
vs. Matt Sydal & Johnny Jeter
vs. The Pitbulls
vs. John Morrison & The Miz

ENDING:
Super Crazy and Jamie Noble are the legal men and it’s Noble who is in control of the match as he pulls Crazy back up to his feet and throws a right hand towards him. Crazy though is able to duck it and grabs Noble by the arm, then sends him into the ropes with an irish whip, connecting with a spinning wheel kick as Noble runs back, then drops to the mat. Crazy looks to keep the momentum going as he stands back up, then reaches down to pull Noble up too, going for another irish whip, but this time Noble is able to reverse it. And as Crazy comes back off the ropes, Noble is able to send Crazy crashing down to the mat after a thunderous TILT A WHIRL BACKBREAKER. . . . . Noble rushes as he scurries across his knees to Crazy’s body and hooks both legs. . . . .

1 . . . . .

2 . . . . .

NO!!!

Noble sits up in shock and looks at the referee in amazement as he realises Crazy kicked out of it. Noble stands back up, bends down and pulls Crazy up to his knees, who is barely moving. Noble then takes a couple of steps back, dragging Crazy too, but is stunned when he feels a slap across the back. He turns round and sees that John Morrison did it and is now the legal man. The referee forces Noble to leave the ring, which he does reluctantly as Morrison then slaps Crazy across the face before pulling him up to his feet. He then looks at Crazy for a second before the throwing a right hand at him, but the Mexican sensation is able to duck it, and then follows up with a stomp to the gut. He then grabs Morrison by the head and places it under his arm as he then runs to the corner and absolutely nails him with a TORNADO DDT. . . . . The crowd go nuts for that one as Crazy then tries to get the match over as quickly as possible as he turns over and goes for a cover. . . . .

1 . . . . .

2 . . . . .

NO!!!

The Miz makes the save at the last split second by stomping hard on the back of Crazy’s head, saving his partner from losing the match. This however brings in Jimmy Wang Yang, who runs at Miz and connects with a JUMPING SPINNING LEG LARIAT. . . . . A big pop comes from the crowd for that one, but it’s quickly stopped as Noble & Kash both enter the ring and pummel Yang with some vicious clubs to the back and chest, forcing him down to the mat. That’s still not enough as they then stomp him across the back and off the apron under the bottom rope, but they still follow him as they climb through the ropes to the outside. Jeter & Sydal look on in disbelief on the apron and then turn to each other as Sydal then enters the ring. With The Pitbulls continuing to stomp all over Yang on the outside, Sydal runs over to the ropes, springboards off the top rope and goes for a MOONSAULT PLANCHA. . . . . Sydal connected with Noble, but Kash dodged it.

Jeter though enters the ring and runs towards the ropes, springboards like Sydal and hits Kash with a SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT. . . . . That one took Kash down too as five men remain on the arena floor with the referee looking on, unsure of what to do. The Miz then picks himself back up in the ring and the referee acts straight away by walking over to him while Morrison and Crazy slowly make their way back up to their feet. With the ref backing Miz up into his corner, Morrison stands back up fully and eye gauges Crazy, then pulls his head towards him as he then plants him with the CORKSCREW NECKBREAKER. . . . . Miz sells the move on the apron as Morrison gets into position on the mat and hooks both of Crazy’s legs as the referee counts the fall. . . . .

1 . . . . .

2 . . . . .

3!!!

AFTERMATH: John Morrison’s music hits as he picks himself back up and is then joined by The Miz. They reluctantly let the referee raise their arms as they then leave the ring straight away as The Pitbulls then sit back up on the outside and stare at them as Morrison & Miz stand on the outside staring right back at them with smiles on their faces

***HEAT***

MVP:
Hey it’s the gold standard, how it’s goin man?

Shelton Benjamin: I’m good

MVP walks over to a fold out chair, turns it round the opposite way and sits down to face Shelton with his arms across the back of the chair

MVP: Look man, we ain’t got nothin to worry about tonight, I know Matt Hardy inside out. . . You know we were tag champions until Matt’s own ego got in the way and cost me my half of the gold. And up until the last few weeks, I made Matt look like the natural loser that he is. It’s just by some freak of nature that he managed to get all the luck he could ever wish for by taking the United States title away from me. . . But you know what man? . . . I’m not bitter, I can’t wait to step foot in that right tonight with you and give Matt Hardy one final beat down a la MVP before I move up the ladder when I win the Royal Rumble and move on to the grand daddy of them all, where I will become the next World Heavyweight Champion

***HEAT***

MVP:
And you know what I see when I look at you Shelton? . . . I see a lot of me. . . You have the talent that makes everyone else around here jealous. You’ve got the confidence, and together tonight, we will wipe the floor with Matt Hardy and whoever the hell he picks to be his unlucky tag team partner. . . Between the Gold Standard and the Franchise Playa, we got it in the bag tonight

***HEAT***

MVP:
Matt can shine up the US title all he wants because it’s guys like who us. . . stars like us who will be the future of this business, not Matt. . . Because as happy as he is right now being the United States Champion, that’s all he’s ever gonna be while we shoot to the top of this business and pick up more World Titles than Matt could ever dream of

***HEAT***

Shelton Benjamin:
I’m with ya man. . . I started proving all the doubters wrong last week when I walked over my old partner, or should I say the guy who climbed on my back all his career while I took us to title after title. . . And tonight, I’m gonna carry on from last week, running over everyone who gets in my way, shoving all the words the haters have said about me and ram them straight back down their throats

***HEAT***

Shelton Benjamin:
And if that means I’ve gotta go out there and make an example of Matt Hardy, then that’s just what I’ll do and show everyone that I am the damn gold standard

MVP: Tonight man, we’ll go do it

MVP high fives Shelton as he then stands back up

MVP: I’ll see ya later on. . . Keep it safe man!

MVP then leaves the room as Shelton stares a hole in the floor, looking very determined

Kenny is pissed straight away and stomps him in the gut, then whips him into the ropes, and connects with a standing dropkick as Moore comes back. Kenny still has an angry look on his face as he stands back up and walks over to the corner, then climbs to the second rope as Moore starts to make his way back up. And just as Moore stands back up, looking groggy though as he then turns round, Dykstra jumps off and hits him with a DIVING CLOTHESLINE. . . . . Kenny takes his time as he turns round on his knees and drags himself over to Moore, then hooks his leg for a cover. . . . .

Shannon Moore is able to get his shoulder up and Kenny pulls himself back up to his knees when Chavo slides back in the ring and walks over to him. He pulls Kenny up to his knees, but Dykstra takes him by surprise with a forearm shot to the face. Chavo is knocked off balance by the shot as Kenny then grabs him by the head and looks to be going for a ROLLING CUTTER. . . . . Chavo reacts straight away by pushing him away. Kenny though stops dead and turns around, but into a stomp to the gut from Chavo who then pulls Kenny’s head under his arm and then lifts him up into the air, feet first and falls back with a suplex.

Chavo though doesn’t let go of the grip and swivels his hips and rolls back up to his feet before hitting another suplex on Dykstra with the crowd cheering as Chavo then gets back up and hits a third suplex to complete the THREE AMIGO’S. . . . . The crowd cheer loudly as Chavo stands back up and Kenny rolls under the bottom rope to the outside. Chavo then walks over to Moore who is getting back up to his feet and Chavo hits him with a European uppercut, then pulls Moore’s head under his arm and hits him with a NORTHERN LIGHTS SUPLEX. . . . . Chavo looks to get the match over and done with as he is quick to stand back up on his feet. He reaches down and is about to pull Moore back up to his feet, but sees Dykstra getting back up on the outside. Chavo hesitates as he watches on as Dykstra grabs his Cruiserweight title belt off of the timekeepers table, and then turns round, realising Chavo is looking at him. Kenny stays still as Chavo keeps his eyes on him as he pulls Moore up, stomps him in the gut and pulls his head under his arm, not taking his eyes off of Dykstra before lifting Moore up in the air and then falls back, hitting him with the BRAINBUSTER. . . . .

The moment Chavo lands on the mat, Kenny hops up on to the apron with the belt in hand, but Chavo races back up to his feet too, taking Kenny by surprise. The Cruiserweight Champion then drops back down to the arena floor as Chavo backs up into the corner, still not taking his eyes off his rival as he then climbs up to the top rope. He then leaps off and hits Moore with the FROG SPLASH. . . . . Glaring at Dykstra, Chavo reaches to the side and hooks Moore’s leg as the referee counts the fall, with Chavo and Dykstra staring at each other the entire time. . . . .

ENDING:
Harris & MVP get back up to their feet and run at each other, with Harris stomping him in the gut, pulling MVP’s head under his arm and then lifting him up into the air feet first. With the referee counting to two, Harris doesn’t look to waste any time as he stands back up to his feet and then reaches down to pull MVP back to his. The Franchise Player though is able to shock Harris as he rakes him in the eye and steps back into the ropes, but as he comes back, Harris steps forward, grabs MVP around the upper chest and plants him with THE CATATONIC (SWINGING SIDE SLAM). . . . . The crowd cheer as MVP hits the mat and Harris looks to take advantage as he crawls over and hooks both legs with the referee counting. . . . .

1 . . . . .

2 . . . . .

Shelton breaks up the count, stomping across the back of Harris after entering the ring and running across. The referee gets back up and tells Shelton to get back on the apron, which he does. Both men start to stir, and when they get back up, it’s Harris who reacts first and whips into the ropes, turns round and runs into the ropes. And as they both meet in the centre of the ring, they collide with a DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE. . . . . Both men again start to stir on the mat and both turn round on the mat as they then crawl towards their respective corners with the crowd cheering on Harris as he reaches forward and jumps up, making the tag to Matt as MVP is able to tag in Shelton.

Both men race through the ropes and run at each other with Matt taking Shelton down with a clothesline, and then another with Shelton getting back up. Again though, Shelton is right back up as Matt then grabs him by the arm and whips him into the corner. The US Champion then runs in at him and hits him with a clothesline, but holds onto Shelton’s head as he then turns round, runs out of the corner and plants him with a bulldog. With the crowd cheering loudly, Matt turns himself over and then turns Shelton onto his back before hooking the leg for a cover. . . . .

And as Matt spins back round, Shelton explodes with a DRAGON WHIP. . . . . Shelton smiles as he gets back up to his feet and then walks over to the apron and climbs through the ropes to stand on the apron. He waits patiently as Matt picks himself up and looking groggy before turning round into Shelton and a SPRINGBOARD CLOTHESLINE. . . . . Shelton scurries across his knees as he rushes to cover Matt. . . . .

A big pop breaks out as Matt kicks out of that one, but Shelton isn’t happy as he stands back up and waits for Matt, stalking him and urging him up to his feet. With the crowd trying to warn him, Matt is able to get back up to his knees and then a vertical base. As he turns round, Shelton then charges at him, but Matt grabs him around the neck again, and this time is able to plant him with the SIDE EFFECT. . . . . The crowd cheer loudly again for Matt, but he doesn’t go for a cover, instead deciding to stand back up and walk over to the corner. He climbs up to the second rope with the crowd cheering him on as he then leaps down and hits Shelton with a DIVING LEG DROP. . . . . A big pop comes from the crowd as Matt then readjusts his position and goes to cover Shelton. . . . .

1 . . . . .

2 . . . . .

Shelton is showing some resilience here as he again gets his shoulder up. Matt then stands back up, not looking too disappointed as he stands in wait, ready to pounce for the TWIST OF FATE. . . . . The crowd are on their feet, but MVP looks pissed and climbs through the ropes and clubs Matt across the back, knocking him down to his knees. Harris then storms in behind MVP, and as he turns round, MVP turns into a SUPER KICK. . . . . Huge pop for Harris as he just took the head off of MVP, who was knocked down to the mat and under the bottom rope with the force of that kick. The ref then tells Harris to get back on the apron, and of course, he obliges as Shelton and Matt stand back up with Shelton whipping Matt into the corner.

He runs at him and connects with the STINGER SPLASH. . . . . Matt then staggers out of the corner as Shelton steps back and then grabs Matt across the shoulders for the T BONE SUPLEX. . . . . Matt though fights it and drives his elbow into the side of Shelton’s head, breaking the grip. Matt then pushes Shelton back a couple of steps before Shelton runs back at him, but into a kick to the gut. Matt then grabs Shelton’s head straight away, pulls it under his arm and then sends him crashing down to the canvas with the TWIST OF FATE. . . . . The crowd explodes as Matt turns over and goes for the cover. . . . .

Lena Yada is standing by

Lena Yada:
Please welcome my guest. . . He is the man who will be challenging Shawn Michaels for the World Heavyweight Championship tonight. . . The Rated R Superstar, Edge

Boos can be heard from the arena as he walks into the shot

Lena Yada: Later on tonight Edge, you will. . .

Edge: . . . Lena, no offence but you just said it. . . Tonight I will be challenging Shawn Michaels for my World Heavyweight Championship

***MIXED RESPONSE***

Edge:
Shawn can make out that the title is his, but he knows deep down that it’s mine. . . I mean what kind of champion would offer to forfeit the title like he did two weeks ago just because he felt guilty that he had some unwanted help to win it. . . And who was that unwanted help Lena? . . . It was me. . . I had to forfeit the title last year, I was given no choice when I tore my pectoral muscle. . . But you know what? I wanted to keep on wrestling, but I wasn’t allowed. . . Shawn I know you don’t like winning titles with outside help, with the exception of Survivor Series 97 huh. . .

***MAJOR HEAT***

Edge:
. . . but you should be damn grateful that I helped you, albeit by accident. . . The only reason you’re the World Champion right now is because of me. . . That’s right Shawn, because of me. But tonight I’m coming back to take what’s mine and you should feel guilty about wearing someone else’s title. But Shawn let me reassure you. By the end of the night, it’s not gonna be like Montreal where you walked out like a common thief with Bret Hart’s title. Tonight you’ll be walking out empty handed like Bret did over ten years ago when I leave my home state as the real Canadian Hero and the new World Heavyweight Champion

***MIXED RESPONSE***

Edge:
But you know what Shawn? I’m not going to leave anything to chance because we all know your track record of winning title matches in Canada, I arranged a special surprise for you tonight, but since it all got a lot more important around here, the timing is even better. . . See I met a certain cousin of yours last week and he told me all about how badly you treated him, so I thought I’d bring the family back together

The cousin walks into the shot (Matt Bentley)

Edge: Let me introduce the world to the cousin of the soon to be former World Heavyweight Champion. . . I give you Michael Shane

Michael Shane: Surprised to see Shawn? . . . I bet you are. . . I don’t blame you one bit, it’s a shock for me to be here too, but then again you’d know about that wouldn’t you cous? . . . I’m just over the moon to be here to have the opportunity to watch my cousin in such a big match tonight. . . And it’s even better that I’ll get to see it up and close personal. . . Shawn, I have a little message for you, and it’s real easy to understand. . . Good luck

Shane has a real smug smile on his face as Edge laughs behind him

FIRST BLOOD MATCH
The Undertaker
vs. Umaga w/Armando Alejandro Estrada

ENDING:
Umaga and Taker exchange rights in the middle of the ring, and it’s Taker who takes control, landing three rights in a row, putting Umaga on the back foot. He then grabs Umaga’s arm and tries to whip him into the ropes, but The Samoan Bulldozer reverses it, whipping Taker instead. As the dead man comes back off the ropes, he ducks a wild outstretched arm from Umaga, runs through into the ropes and comes back into a huge SAMOAN DROP. . . . . Umaga caught the phenom hard with that one, what a crash landing that was. With Taker not moving after that heavy landing, Umaga gets back up to his feet and reaches down, grabbing Taker by the arm and drags him to the corner where he sits him up against the bottom rope.

The Samoan Savage then backs up into the opposite corner, getting a ton of heat from the fans as he gets ready to explode. He takes a couple of seconds before he charges at the dead man, going for the SAMOAN WRECKING BALL. . . . . But Taker gets up and steps out of the corner as Umaga turns and crashes into the pads. The Bulldozer then staggers out of the corner as Taker turns back to face him, grabs his arm and whips him into the opposite corner. Umaga’s back hits the pads again as this time it’s Taker who follows in and hits him with a hard clothesline. Taker backs up as Umaga again staggers out, but into another hard whip back to the opposite corner, again hitting hard as Taker then follows in with another hard clothesline.

Taker again takes a couple of steps back as Umaga staggers out of the corner again, but this time, the dead man turns back and runs the ropes as Charles Robinson checks on Umaga. And as Taker comes back off the ropes, he drives his big boot towards Umaga’s face, but Umaga ducks and The Undertaker accidentally takes out Robinson with the BIG BOOT. . . . . Taker looks down in shock as Umaga then spins him round, grabs him around the waist and then tosses him back with an OVERHEAD BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX. . . . . A lot of sighs are heard coming from the crowd as Umaga sits back up looking very satisfied with that huge match swinger.

Taker lands by the ropes and as Umaga stands back up slowly, he turns round and drives his boot into the side of the dead man, pushing him under the bottom rope to the outside and the arena floor. He is quick to climb through the ropes and join Taker on the outside, but walks over to the announce table and strips it bare with Michael Cole and The Coach hurrying to their feet. The Samoan monster then turns back to The Undertaker and helps him up to his feet and drags the groggy phenom to the announce table, and then smashes him face first into the table, twice in the hope he can make the dead man draw blood, but it doesn’t work. Keeping hold of the phenom, Umaga then grabs him by the arm and whips him into the ringpost.

Taker looks out of it as he just slips down the ringpost to his knees, but leaning against it. Umaga walks over and is quick to take advantage as he grabs his head and smashes it into the ringpost. Again though, The Undertaker doesn’t bleed as Umaga starts to get restless and then lifts Taker up and whips him into the steel steps, hitting back first. It looks like the end could be near for the dead man as he sits up against the steps, but it gets worse for him as Umaga then charges at him and hits the SAMOAN WRECKING BALL. . . . . Taker’s head just got smashed back into the steps as Umaga gets back up with another satisfied look on his face and the crowd booing him very loudly.

Umaga then sees one of the monitors on the floor and gets a real sick look in his eyes as he walks over and picks it up, getting the crowd really anxious as they boo him again. He then turns back round and sees The Undertaker showing signs of life and trying to pick himself back up, but very slowly. Umaga doesn’t rush and waits patiently as Taker eventually stands up. Umaga then lifts the monitor high above his head and is about to smash it into Taker’s skull, but Taker grabs him around the throat, getting a huge pop. The dead man then kicks him in the groin too, causing Umaga to drop to his knees and lose his grasp of the monitor. Taker then bends down looking fatigued and picks the monitor up himself to a huge pop from the crowd.

Umaga then pulls himself up from his knees as Taker then DRIVES THE MONITOR IN TO UMAGA’S FOREHEAD. . . . Umaga doesn’t fall but staggers back as Taker then SMASHES HIM IN THE HEAD AGAIN. . . . . UMAGA’S BLEEDING. . . . . Estrada panics as he sees Umaga drop to his knees and Taker roll him back into the ring, but Robinson is still down on the inside from the big boot. Taker is about to get back in the ring as Estrada walks round and grabs a chair from beside Justin Roberts, walks to the apron and SMASHES IT ACROSS TAKER’S BACK. . . . . A lot of boos quickly turn into cheers as Taker just turns round, not effected by the chair shot and punches the chair out of Estrada’s hands.

Taker stares at Estrada for a couple of seconds, and Estrada just turns quickly and runs away while he can. Taker then bends down and picks the chair up, then slides it in the ring as Umaga is getting to his knees. As Taker is climbing back into the ring, Umaga crawls forward and picks the chair up, stands back up as Taker climbs through the ropes. Taker walks over, but WALKS RIGHT INTO A CHAIR SHOT TO THE SKULL. . . . . Taker is knocked completely off balance but stays upright as Umaga then hits him again with the chair, right across the skull and knocking Taker down to his knees. HE’S BUSTED OPEN. . . . .

With Umaga smiling, he then steps forward and raises the chair high again before bringing it crashing down, but Taker reaches up with his right arm and grabs Umaga around the skull. The crowd go nuts as Taker stands back up and Umaga drops the chair with the dead man the sending him crashing down to earth with a CHOKESLAM. . . . . . Huge cheers ring out for Taker as Umaga rolls to the side with his back to Robinson who comes round and sits up, then sees Taker is bleeding. It takes a second for it to sink in as he still looks groggy after the big boot, but then calls for the bell to a ton of heat.

AFTERMATH: “Virtual Voodoo” hits as Umaga gets to his knees with Estrada jumping up and down on the outside. The Undertaker turns his head sharply and stares at Robinson intensely, who then leaves the ring straight away. Taker then turns his attention back to Umaga and then picks up the steel chair, with the music then stopping. Estrada’s face changes straight away as he tries to warn a groggy Umaga, but it’s too late as Umaga turns round, Taker smashes him in the skull with the chair, and then again.

Umaga is knocked off balance as Taker then follows up with another vicious shot to the skull, knocking Umaga down to his knees. Taker then takes one last smash as he drives the chair down onto the top of Umaga’s head, sending him down to the mat. Taker looks towards Estrada and then drops the chair as Estrada looks on in shock. The lights then go out, leaving just a purple spotlight as “Deadman’s Symphony” hits and The Undertaker drops to his knee and does his usual taunt in the middle of the ring

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Shawn Michaels
vs. Edge w/Michael Shane

ENDING:
Michaels grabs Edge by the arm and whips him into the corner. He takes a second before running in and hitting Edge across the upper chest with a clothesline. The World Heavyweight Champion then climbs up to the second rope and starts pummelling Edge with hard right hands, one after another with the crowd shouting out, counting each blow. Michaels is about to unleash his eight shot when Edge brings his arms up and pushes HBK down to the mat, rolling back away from the corner. Edge then pulls himself up to the second rope, and then to the top as he sees Michaels getting back up, and as soon as HBK is back on his feet, Edge leaps off and hits the champion with a MISSILE DROPKICK. . . . . It takes Edge a couple of seconds before he is able to make his way back up to his knees, and at the same time, Michaels sits up. Edge then gets right back up to a vertical base and shifts behind HBK as he makes his way back up. The moment Michaels is back on his feet, Edge grabs him around the head and then brings his head back, driving him into the mat with a HALF NELSON BULLDOG. . . . . Edge reaches forward and grabs Michaels as he looks to get the cover with Micky Henson counting the fall. . . . .

Edge looks a little pissed as he lets go of Michaels’ legs and then gets himself back up to his feet and urges Michaels to do the same. Slowly the champion starts to stand up with Edge lying in wait, and as soon as Michaels gets up, Edge stomps him hard in the gut, grabs Michaels’ head and pulls it under his arm before then planting him with the EDGECUTION. . . . . Edge has a huge look of determination on his face as he then sits up, turns round and then pushes Michaels over onto his back, then hooks both legs as Henson starts another count. . . . .

NO!!!

Edge looks pissed again as Michaels gets his shoulder up in time to save his title. The Rated R Superstar looks to capitalise as he stands back up, reaches down to pull HBK back up to his feet, and then whips him into the ropes. But as Michaels comes back off the ropes, he throws himself at Edge, hitting the LOU THESZ PRESS. . . . . The crowd is divided again as boos ring out with some cheers while Michaels smashes Edge in the face with repeated right hands. Michaels stands back up, and Edge too rushes back up to his feet, but as he turns round, Michaels reaches down and sweeps his legs, then really feels the wrath of the Ontario crowd as he locks in the SHARPSHOOTER. . . . . The crowd boo him like crazy as Michaels then turns Edge over, locking the hold in tight.

Edge tries to fight the hold immediately and lifts his arm up to try and gain some strength. The camera switches back to Michaels as he can be seen giving it all he’s got to try and make Edge tap put, but it’s not happening. Edge sees Shane on the outside urging him on and it seems to encourage Edge as he starts to drag himself across the mat slowly. Henson is constantly asking Edge if he wants to tap as Michaels turns up the pressure, but Edge continues to fight the hold and is able to drag himself closer to the ropes until he gets within touching distance. Henson then glances away from Edge for a split second, and Shane sees it as he grabs Edge’s hand and pushes the rope into his hand. Henson turns back and sees the hand on the ropes, then tells Michaels to let go of the hold, which he only does at the count of four with the crowd cheering.

Shane lifts his arms into the air, right in front of Edge, and more importantly Michaels, who turns round and stares at him, looking very concerned. He seems to realise what happened and runs into the ropes, baseball slides out with Shane running away. Michaels chases his cousin around the ring as Edge helps himself up slowly with the aid of the ropes. Shane manages to keep away from Michaels, and after running fully round the ring once, Shane runs round again until he is at the opposite side to Edge and slides in the ring. Michaels slides back in too as Shane runs towards Edge and slides past him to the outside as Michaels runs into a now stood back up Edge, who steps forward and smashes him in the face with a BIG BOOT. . . . . A big pop breaks out as Edge drops to his knees and tries for a cover. . . . .

Edge sits up in shock and holds his head in his hands. He then takes a couple of seconds before he stands back up to his feet and walks over to the corner, urging Michaels to get up. Slowly but surely, the champion is able to pick himself up, but still looks dazed from the boot. As he then turns round, Edge charges out of the corner at him, looking for the SPEAR. . . . . Michaels though is able to sidestep it as Edge manages to bring himself to a halt and turn round, but he turns into an inverted atomic drop from HBK who then turns round to run into the ropes. And as he comes back, he connects with a FLYING FOREARM. . . . . HBK then flips right back up to his feet, getting another mix of boos and cheers from the Canadian crowd. He then walks over to the corner and climbs up to the top rope where he then leaps off and connects with the DIVING ELBOW DROP. . . . . The same heavy mixed reaction greets Michaels again as he hits the mat and then hooks both legs for a cover. . . . .

Michaels ignores the fans that are getting on his back as he stands right back up and walks over to the corner, where he starts to tune up the band, again getting a strong reception in both senses. With Edge sitting up on the mat, he sees Shane on the outside walk round towards Michaels. Edge then reaches up and grabs Henson, and seems to ask him to check if there is something in his eye. Henson looks confused but still has a look as Shane then reaches under the bottom rope and grabs HBK’s foot. Michaels then turns round and slides under the bottom rope, where he starts hitting his cousin with a series of right hands to the head, but Shane then drives his knee into Michaels’ gut and whips him into the barricade.

We then see Batista run down the aisle to a pop, and he then makes his way round to Shane, spins him round and knocks him down with a hard clothesline. Edge then looks over angrily at Batista and walks over to the ropes, where he shouts down at Batista and asks him what the hell he thinks he is doing. Batista turns round and looks up at Edge with fire in his eyes as he then jumps on the apron and hits him with a hard right hand, knocking Edge back. Batista then slides in the ring, walks over to Edge as he turns round and hits him with a SPINEBUSTER. . . Micky Henson has no choice and calls for the bell.

AFTERMATH: Batista stares at Henson as Justin Roberts makes the announcement that Edge is the winner but Michaels retains. Batista then pulls Edge up from his knees and sets him in place for the Batista Bomb when Shane climbs back in the ring and clubs Batista across the back. The Animal turns round with an angry look on his face and stares right at an intimidated Shane. Edge then picks himself up behind him and low blows him as Batista then drops to his knees. Michaels then slides back in the ring and stares right at the grinning duo of Edge and Shane when. . .

“Promenade” hits as William Regal walks out to the entrance with a microphone in hand

William Regal: STOP IT RIGHT THERE. I’ve reached the end of my tether with you lot, and now you go and ruin a big championship match like this. . . Well let me make something clear gentleman, I’m not going to stand for it anymore. And to make sure that there are no more shenanigans like what we’ve seen tonight, I’m going to settle this once and for all. . . Because at the Royal Rumble, we are going to see The Rated R Superstar, Edge take on The Animal, Batista. . . and The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels in a triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship

[b]Michaels looks anxiously across Edge & Shane who just grin back at the World Champion as Smackdown comes to a close/B]
