RAW RESULTS (8TH OCTOBER 2007)

United Center
Chicago, Illinois

***VIDEO RECAP OF NO MERCY***
Clips of:
• Vince awarding the title to Randy Orton, then the announcement that it will be Orton vs Triple H
• Triple H winning the WWE Championship
• Triple H retaining against Umaga
• Vince making Triple H vs Orton Last Man Standing Match
• High spots from main event and Orton winning the WWE Title

***“Burn In My Light” blasts out & a smug looking Randy Orton makes his way down the ramp with his newly won WWE Championship***

***LOTS OF HEAT***

Orton waits for the crowd to pipe down but they remain hot for a while, forcing him to tell them all to shut the hell up because to quote John Cena, he says the champ is here in a serious voice, just getting more heat. He says that what he did last week to John Cena was just the start of what will be the single most dominating title reign in the history of the WWE, again getting a lot of heat. He then says that becoming the WWE Champion was inevitable and that he could have beaten anybody last night whether it be John Cena, Triple H, Hulk Hogan or whoever, saying no one can stop the Legend Killer.

The crowd get right on his back again which he just shrugs off and says that whatever happened last week or at No Mercy last night, it’s all in the past now because Raw has to get used to there being a new champ in town and there’s not a damn thing that anyone can do about it. He says that he was born to be a champion and the single biggest star in the history of the company and then looks into the camera as it zooms in on him. He directs a message towards John Cena and says that there’s a new Wrestlemania main event waiting to happen and it isn’t the guy watching from a hospital bed, then says there’s only room for one world champion on Raw until . . .

***“This Fire Burns” hits & CM Punk walks out to the ring with his ECW Championship over his shoulder***

***MASSIVE POP***

Orton looks pissed and asks Punk just who the hell he is and the crowd respond straight away by shouting Punk’s name over and over as Punk grins. He then looks Orton right in the face and tells him he should remember because nearly a year ago, he was part of the team that wiped the floor with Orton’s team at Survivor Series, pauses and then says that it was extra special because just like tonight, it was in Chicago, his hometown.

***BIG POP & CHANTS FOR “CM PUNK”***

Orton says a year is a long time in wrestling, saying he’s now the guy who is top of the whole damn company and that Punk is still fighting security guards and half ass wrestlers in front of blood thirsty morons who’ve got nothing better to do with their lives than see people get put through tables. Punk just grins and says that if it was true it would make Orton’s life a whole lot easier because unfortunately for Orton, there are now two world champions on Raw because ECW is no more and the Straight Edge Superstar has arrived on the A Show, getting a big pop from the Chicago crowd. Orton laughs to himself and then asks Punk if he really believes he can cut it in his league and tells him that his list of victims could beat Punk without busting a gut and if he wants to play in his league. . .

***“No Chance In Hell” blasts out & Mr. McMahon” walks out to the entrance ramp with a microphone in hand***

***HEAT***

Vince says that it certainly is unfortunate that ECW has come to an end, saying it’s unfortunate for CM Punk because as ECW has come to an end, it is only right that the ECW Championship will to have to be put to bed too.

***HEAT***

Punk can’t believe it and yells at Vince, telling him he can’t do that. Vince just stares back and says that it is a dark day in wrestling history because he too was an ECW Champion, but as the brand has come to an end, so must its heavyweight championship. Punk shakes his head in disappointment as Orton smirks, but Vince then says that he does appreciate that Punk is an undefeated champion and it is only fair that as one door closes, another opens.

Punk looks up as Vince then says he is going to give him the opportunity to become the WWE Champion and he will get that chance at Cyber Sunday and the crowd going crazy. Orton asks Vince what he’s doing as Vince replies that at Cyber Sunday, the fans, even the ones in Chicago tonight will have the chance to vote for who they want to face Randy Orton for the WWE Championship and that they will able to vote for Punk as he will be one of three possible opponents for Randy Orton's WWE Championship.

***POP***

Punk nods his head in approval as Vince then says next week we will find out who else will have the chance to face Orton, and tonight he bets everyone in Chicago wants to see CM Punk in action.

***HUGE POP***

Vince then says that unfortunately that’s not going to happen (Huge Amount of Heat), so Punk can put his feet up and enjoy his first night on Raw and that the same goes for the new WWE Champion after his efforts last night. Orton smiles as Punk then turns round and looks at him and tosses his ECW Championship belt to the mat and tells Orton that he might not be a champion now, but he soon will be.

***POP as “This Fire Burns” hits again & Punk walks carefully to the ropes, keeping his eye on Orton & Vince walks back through the curtain***

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH 1
Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Tommy Dreamer & Stevie Richards vs Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch & The Highlanders

SUMMARY:
In a back and forth match with lots of tags, the finish came after Paul London took a beating from Lance Cade but was able to make a tag to Tommy Dreamer as Cade tried to hold onto his boot following a dropsault out of nowhere from London. Dreamer came in all guns blazing, knocking Cade down with hard right hands before knocking Murdoch and The Highlanders off the apron. All three men then got back on the apron and into the ring as Kendrick, London & Richards hit the ring and took them all over the top with right hands and clotheslines, leaving Dreamer and Cade as the legal men in the ring. The ref tries to get London & Kendrick back on the apron as Richards then hits a Stevie Kick behind the refs back and Dreamer then connects with a spike DDT for the win as the ref turns round to count the fall.

***CUT BACKSTAGE***

We see Mr. McMahon walking through the back with a large grin on his face. He smiles at some crew members before walking round a corner where he walks right into a furious looking Triple H, getting a huge pop inside the arena. Trips just stares intensely at Vince as the boss tells Trips that what happened last night was the right thing to do, saying that Orton had a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship already. Trips just remains silent but clearly ready to explode as Vince then tells him he didn’t have to give him a championship match in the first place and tells him he should be happy that he even got a chance after everything he’s put him through lately. Trips then starts talking quietly but remains intimidating.

He says that he’s not happy, not happy because he had to wrestle three matches in one night and that right now he should be the WWE Champion and the only reason that he’s not is because of Vince. The chairman of the board shakes his head and says that he wouldn’t have got the chance if it wasn’t for him and he should be grateful, but if he’s not, then he can make him suffer and says that tonight he can have another match, a No Disqualification match with Umaga. Trips backs off and tries to remain calm as Vince looks nervously towards him, then slowly walks off as Triple H looks very intense.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

***"Wreckin Ball" hits & Mr. Kennedy walks out to a strong mixed reception***

***His microphone drops from the ceiling and the lights go out***

He starts by saying that for anyone who watched Raw last week witnessed one of the biggest flukes in the history of Raw, in fact the whole of sports entertainment and that no one is more sports entertainment than him, not even the man who got lucky last week at his expense Jeff Hardy.

***POP for the mention of Jeff's name***

He says that there is something wrong with these people for cheering Jeff Hardy just because he jumps off ladders to make himself look like a hero, while they are all looking at a real superstar and the only reason he lost to Jeff was because he was rusty after taking some much needed time out. After a short pause he moves on to say that last night he carried his team to a win over Jeff's and tonight he wants to show everyone just why Kennedy is the superstar and not Jeff, that's if Jeff has got the. . .

***"Loaded" blasts out and Jeff Hardy makes his way to the ring***

***BIG POP***

***Jeff climbs into the ring and signals for the timekeeper to ring the bell. Kennedy steps back and the microphone is pulled back up***

MATCH 2
NON TITLE MATCH
Jeff Hardy vs Mr. Kennedy

SUMMARY:
Kennedy dominated the match, working mainly on Jeff's legs. Coming towards the finish, Kennedy escaped Jeff's attempts for a Twist of Fate and was able to hit a Rolling Fireman's Carry. He then went up top and tried for a Kenton Bomb, but Jeff got his knees up in time and Kennedy remained on the mat holding his stomach. Jeff slowly got to his feet and went up top himself, but this time Kennedy got his knees up, reached up and rolled Jeff into an inside cradle for the win.

AFTERMATH: Kennedy reached up for his microphone and announced himself as the winner and the next Intercontinental Champion

***CUT BACKSTAGE***

We see CM Punk in the back talking to Tommy Dreamer & Stevie Richards when John Morrison walks up to them. He looks at Punk and tells him it was a real shame and he feels so sorry for Punk that he got stripped of the ECW Title, getting a lot of heat from the arena. Punk calmly tells him they might not be on ECW anymore but he's got no problem kicking his ass on Raw just like he did on ECW. Morrison says anyone can get lucky once, but tells Punk he beat him more times than he lost and being on Raw isn't going to change that. Punk then tells Morrison that what's done is done, but he will always be the last ECW Champion and not Morrison, who then swings at Punk, but Dreamer grabs his hand and tells him to beat it. Morrison slowly backs off but looks angrily towards Punk and Dreamer.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

***BACKSTAGE***

Maria
is in her dressing room strecthing, with a big pop being heard when Santino Marella walks in and gets some heat from the arena. He tells her that she looks beautiful and Maria thanks him then asks him if he thinks she can win the Divas Battle Royal later on. Santino says that she can and that when she does, he will take her back to his hotel for a big celebration, but Maria says she's not sure she can because she'll be tired after the match. Santino, clearly annoyed, says he understands before wishing her luck and leaving the room.

As he walks out, Torrie Wilson walks past and he starts to hit on her and offers to take her out for after the match later on, but Torrie says she's seen the way he treats Maria and calls him a sleaze. She then starts to walk off down the hall as Santino then runs towards her from behind and pretends to accidentally knock her to the floor, getting a ton of heat. He looks down and says he's so sorry before walking off with a sly smile on his face as Torrie looks shocked and upset on the floor.

***CUT BACK TO THE ARENA***

MATCH 3
Cody Rhodes vs Carlito

SUMMARY:
Cody started the match on fire, putting Carlito on the back foot. He went for a cross body off the second rope which Carlito countered with a dropkick to the chest, stopping Cody's momentum. As the match went on, Carlito got on top and hit a springboard back elbow and then looked to hit a Backstabber, but Cody managed to hold onto the top rope as Carlito fell back. Cody then turned round and then got a sunset flip cover to get a shock win.

AFTERMATH: The ref raised Cody's arm but Carlito then jumped Rhodes from behind with a forearm across the back and then hit a Backstabber to a ton of heat

COMMERCIAL BREAK

***BACKSTAGE***

Elijah Burke
is walking backstage and talking on his cell phone (Heat) and says that The Elijah Experience has landed on Raw baby to whoever he is talking too when we hears some other guys talking and the camera pans to Val Venis & Hacksaw Jim Duggan talking, getting a decent pop. He tells them to shut up because he can't hear his caller and then says he'll call them back. He looks at Duggan & Val and asks them if they know who they're looking at as they look at each other confused. Burke says that he is the hottest superstar to hit Raw in years and that he's not going to put up with disrespect from anybody, let alone a washed up joke and a former porn star. Val holds Duggan back as Burke just laughs and tells Duggan he's lucky he's got his buddy to look after him because he'd be on the floor seeing stars if he didn't and then walks off looking smug with Duggan looking pissed.

***CUT ACROSS THE BACK***

At the Raw interview set, Todd Grisham announces us to his guest, Randy Orton, getting a ton of heat. Grisham asks him how he feels about putting John Cena on the shelf for almost a year. Orton says Cena had it coming after getting his dad involved in their business and by doing that he made the biggest mistake of his career because now he finds himself without the WWE Championship and on the shelf for nearly twelve months (Heat). He then says that everyone on Raw saw what he did to Cena and they have no choice but to stand up and admit that Randy Orton is the most feared superstar on Raw. Grisham then tells Orton that it didn't look like CM Punk was intimidated by him earlier on. Orton smirks and then says that CM Punk doesn't intimidate him either and that there's no reason why he should, saying that he shouldn't even be one of a thousand men in with a chance of getting a title shot at Cyber Sunday, let alone on in three (Heat).

Grisham then asks him how he feels about possibly having to face Triple H at Cyber Sunday in a rematch for the WWE Championship. Orton says that there is always going to be history between him and Triple H but at No Mercy last night, he proved to everyone just who the better man was and if Triple H was to get another title shot, it would just be the same outcome as last night. He says that Triple H can use every excuse he wants about wrestling three matches in one night, but the fact remains Randy Orton walked out the WWE Champion and will do it again just to prove to Triple H who the greater man is once and for all. There's a lot of boos coming from the arena as he walks out of the shot.

***CUT BACK TO THE ARENA***

MATCH 4
NUMBER ONE CONTENDERSHIP DIVAS BATTLE ROYAL
FEATURING: Candice Michelle, Mickie James, Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool, Maria, Jillian Hall, Victoria & Melina

SUMMARY:
Beth Phoenix was at ringside for commentary and watched on as Torrie Wilson was eliminated first by Victoria. Santino made his way down to the ring and brushed past Torrie with Maria looking on by the ropes and then Victoria tossed her over the top as Santino then went to help Maria up and then to the back. Michelle McCool and Melina were next to be eliminated as McCool tried to force Melina over the top and Jillian tossed McCool over the top, forcing Melina over too. Jillian & Victoria then took it in turns to work over Mickie as Candice recovers in the corner.

Mickie slowly gets back up to his feet as Jillian runs at her and goes for a clothesline, but Mickie holds the ropes down and Jillian goes over the top. Down to three with Mickie, Candice & Victoria who jumps on Mickie straight away with a kick to the stomach but Candice then attacks her from behind and eventually Candice forces her against the ropes, takes a step back and runs at her but Victoria steps out and tosses her over the top. After a battle between Mickie & Victoria, Victoria took the momentum and whipped Mickie into the ropes, Mickie held on and ran at Victoria, whipped her into the ropes, ran across and clotheslined her over the top to become the number one contender.

AFTERMATH: Beth Phoenix stands up at the announce table and she stares down Mickie James. Then Victoria got back in the ring and attacked Mickie from behind, eventually hitting her with the Widow's Peak as Beth looks on confused

COMMERCIAL BREAK

***BACKSTAGE***

Mr. Kennedy
walks into William Regal's office and asks him to make an Intercontinental Championship match between him and Jeff Hardy for next week after he just showed everyone that he is what he says he is, the biggest superstar on Raw. Regal says that he saw Kennedy earlier on and admitted he was impressed with what he saw and agrees to make a title match but it won't be next week but at Cyber Sunday instead with the fans choosing the stipulation for the match.

Kennedy smiles and says that it doesn't matter what kind of match they pick, the end result will be the same and the next Intercontinental Champion, yelling his name before turning round, but as he does, he knocks Hornswoggle over who had just walked in. Kennedy looks down at the floor and laughs before looking up and sees Mr. McMahon walk in, who looks angry. Kennedy doesn't seem fazed and gets in Vince's face, then sarcastically tells him he must be so proud before smirking and walking past him. Vince turns round and watches him leave before looking down at an upset Hornswoggle.

***CUT BACK TO THE ARENA***

MATCH 5
NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH
Triple H vs Umaga

SUMMARY:
Umaga started the match in control with vicious chops and thrust uppercuts, but eventually Triple H got back into it with sheer grit and determination. As the match came to its climax, Trips was on top after a running neckbreaker. He then looked to be setting Umaga up for a pedigree, but then Randy Orton came running down the aisle, distracting Triple H, who let Umaga out of his grasp. Trips stares down Orton on the outside who yells back at him and as Trips turns round, Umaga is back on his feet and nails him with a side kick to the face.

He then drags him to the corner and follows it up by charging at him and smashing his ass into the face of The Game. Orton then gets in the ring and drags Trips away from the corner and yells at Umaga to go up top, which he does after a short pause. Orton holds on to HHH's legs to make sure he doesn't move as Umaga then comes off the top and hits a splash, then covers him as Mike Chioda reluctantly counts the win.

AFTERMATH: Orton drops to the mat, right in Triple H's face and tells him that he's the WWE Champion and there's nothing he can do about it. Orton then stands up and holds his belt above Triple H with Umaga looking on as Raw comes to its close

Re: WWE: A Strong Response

Bradley's RAW Review

Nice to see you are keeping the same No Mercy results, I won't be able to review extensively as it is only in recap.

A nice arrogant opening promo from the new champ, which was the right choice, a good few words but I don't think Orton should have mentioned Hulk Hogan because Orton has never beaten him.
MARK OUT!!! A nice choice of words for Punk and it sends a shiver down my spine. I am smelling Punk/Orton in the works which is only a good thing. It's a massive shame we won't see a unification bout but that was probably for the best. I didn't like Vince acting as a face towards the end and Punk not in action sucks but this was still a momentous promo.

Nice to see the extremists in action and with some direction, most BTB'ers dump Stevie so it was nice to see him involved in the pinfall and you have 4 potential tag teams there already so you're set in that department.

Nice intense promo from HHH but he doesn't invoke his rematch clause yet? I am hoping he is one of the choices in the WWE title picture.

Decent Kennedy promo, could have been longer but I already sense a great rivalry but it should have ended as a no contest to set up a gimmick match but nontheless I look forward to an amazing feud.

Slightly weird here between Santino and Maria and hopefully you use Santino as more than a jobber as we both know he can be so much more.

Interesting between Morrison and Dreamer, it seems you are using the former ECW guys really well but Punk and Dreamer seem to be in 2 different storylines now.

The third match came out of nowhere but yet again you are developing the feuds well and with ease, kudos again.

I think Burke could be used a lot better than this but you definitely got over his cocky attitude.

A brilliantly worded promo from Orton but I feel it could have gone on longer which would have made it golden, anyway a good way to get over cheap heat and the Cyber Sunday picks and let's see where you roll with this.

Nice to see Mickie win and Victoria attack her at the end, seems to me like you have a fantastic women's division, which you showed in that match.

I am getting confused with the past tense a little now, it should be 'himself' not 'him' anyway typical cocky promo but it seemed worthless bar the funny moment at the end and I see Kennedy/Vince breweing.

A good match at the end, could have been slightly longer but the ending was inevitable with Orton intefering but you could be in deep if HHH isn't voted for by the readers because he would have nothing to do.

Overall a good recap and you are really developing some interesting storylines. 8/10

Re: WWE: A Strong Response

Seabs' Raw Review

Opening Promo
Very well written and a Punk/Orton feud would be nice. As Bradders said the reference to Hogan wasnt good but otherwise a sound start to a good show.

8 man tag
Nice filler match and good to see you doing something with the ECW originals

McMahon/HHH promo
Another good promo. Not sure if I'd rather see HHH as an option for the WWE Title match or have a stip match agaiinst Umaga

Kennedy v Hardy
Can be a great feud if booked correctly. Good to see kennedy win cleanly. Hopefully more clean finishes to come.

ECW promo
Interesting promo, not sure where its leading.

Santino/Maria promo
Santino was very much in character. Wel scripted and played out well.

Rhodes v Carlito
Good match and aftermath. Feud here is good again.

Burke promo
Got over Burke's cocky nature. Hopefully you build him as a star playa and have him go over Duggan and Val easily.

Womens Battle Royal
Good use of the Womens Divison. Mickie winning was good but didnt expect the end with Victoria. Adding her into the feud could be interesting.

Kennedy/Regal/Vince promo
Good again but didnt do much.

HHH/Umaga
Good main event. orton attacking HHH at the end was nice. Presume HHH will definatly be an option now with Umaga maybe as the third.

Overall
Great first show and set up some really good feuds. Keep it up. Liking this.

Interesting news, Nige. Personally I wouldn't have released King Booker as he is a huge asset to the roster but whatever, it's your decision. I knew you weren't planning to keep him on in our last thread as well.

Interesting to note how Runjin Singh has been released, but you haven't mentioned The Great Khali. Did you forget to put his name on the list or are you going to use him as a non-wrestler, maybe a bodyguard?

Re: WWE: A Strong Response

RAW Review
Didn’t really like the opening part of this promo; Orton just sounded too bland to me. Promo however started to pick up after Punk’s entry. Punk sounded really good, and Orton started to pick up too. Neat promo after the first two paragraphs. Good to see Punk getting stripped of the ECW Championship too. Vince’s part was also fine, but I just don’t expect Punk to get most votes and face Orton for the WWE Title at Cyber Sunday. I guess some big name will also be there, and I guess that the big name will be Triple H.

Your tag team division doesn’t really excite me. London and Kendrick are the only tag team that I like. Anyway, I was surprised to see Dreamer getting up a pinfall victory over Cade there. I’ve never liked Dreamer and ECW guys. So yeah, I don’t like that decision. I think London or Kendrick should’ve got the pinfall victory. Also, your tag team division needs more and good work. Bring in those tag teams that excite the readers.

Nice promo here. Good way to announce Triple H-Umaga again, with a No DQ match this time. Should be an interesting match, and I think Triple H and Umaga will also be the other two choices for the WWE Championship Match poll for Cyber Sunday. Vince really looked like an evil here, so that’s good.

Would’ve loved to see Kennedy introducing himself, but he was cut off before it. The promo before the match by Ken was way off too. Basically Kennedy is really filled with arrogance, cockiness, and here; this wasn’t the case. So not a good promo and that’s because Kennedy looked too generic, and out of character. Good to see Kennedy beating Jeff Hardy though, but I hope that Kennedy gets a good push to the main event scene now because the Kennedy in the mid card really bores me.

You’re lying. Ha-ha. I don’t think John Morrison could garner a lot of heat from the arena. If Punk somehow (magically) gets in the WWE Championship Match at Cyber Sunday then I think that John Morrison would screw him up for a feud between them. Okayish promo here. Let’s see how you deal with these wrestlers.

I’ve never liked Santino. Hopefully someone comes up and shuts him up. Weird promo.

Okay, two sunset flips victories in a show, and they’re back to back? Meh. Shocked to see Cody beat Carlito too. Don’t waste Carlito. He’s a great talent in my opinion.

Didn’t really like this promo, and that’s especially because of Val Venis and Jim Duggan. Elijah was good though, and I expect a bright future for him in this thread.

Good promo by Randy Orton. Not a damn thing wrong there, so yeah, good work, Nige. The way Orton commented about Triple H makes me 99% confident that Triple H will also be added to the poll of the WWE Championship Match now.

Good to see Mickie James becoming the number one contender of the Women’s Championship. Her feud with Beth Phoenix would be a good one too. Aftermath makes me confused though. Maybe a triple threat feud for the Women’s Title is coming? I guess I’ll just wait and see.

Ha-ha. Entertaining segment here, man. Enjoyed how Kennedy knocked down Hornswoggle. Just like TKoW, I’d also like if you somehow find a way to make Kennedy becoming Vince’s son.

Meh, no real build up to the main event. Wow. Too bad to see Umaga pinning Triple H there. You’ve killed Trips’ credibility there because he’s lost two times in two days now. Not a good call there. Orton screwing Triple H doesn’t make sense too, and it also gives away that Triple H is now 100% entering the poll of the main event of Cyber Sunday. Not a good way to end the show.

Re: WWE: A Strong Response

Thanks for the comments man, i love your reviews cos it gives me something to work on and to raise my game. The Morrison heat was just down to the fact he was in Chicago and walking up to insult Punk, the hometown hero. Looking back now i know what i need to work on and the direction i need to go in for next week.

The tag team division is a problem for me and i may have a solution to that, and as for Kennedy & Hornswoggle, there was a reason for that of course! But making him Vince's son may be a bit too far out there

And TKoW my good man, Booker leaving was just down to realism, so that's why he went. As for Mr. Singh, he left but Khali hasn't, but there will be something about that on Smackdown

Again Apple Spitter, thanks man and i will return review by tomoro nite at the latest. Thanks again
