Backstage News & Spoilers

There are currently lots of rumours & speculation flying around backstage this afternoon ahead of tonight’s No Mercy pay-per-view, both in relation to the show and the company moving forward.

We’re hearing that as expected, John Cena, Edge & The Miz are either in the building or are expected to be in time for the show, as is William Regal who was fired as Eric Bischoff’s Executive Assistant in August upon the Raw Head of Authority’s return to television. We’ve not been told exactly what it is in store as far Regal is concerned, however we are led to believe that Cena & Edge will definitely be involved in tonight’s show. That would seem to suggest there could be interaction between the two following their program since they’ve both returned to Smackdown in recent weeks so keep your eyes peeled for them tonight. There is also the possibility of some kind of involvement in the main event with Cena lined up to face the World Heavyweight Champion at Survivor Series in a traditional elimination match with a view to a title match at Night of Champions.

Other topics doing the round are that a big push for Bobby Lashley & Charlie Haas is planned going forward as well as The Empire, so both those teams are expected to be victorious tonight unless their respective storylines don’t come to an end this evening. It’s also being mentioned that there is going to be a storyline involving The UK Pack that will run in to WrestleMania next year in the United Kingdom. We’re not exactly sure what that may be right now but we may find out some more later on when they defend their titles against Petey Williams & Johnny Devine. From what we’re being told a title change may well take place tonight.

One major talking point is that several big stars are expected to be leaving the company within the next six months or so and that younger talent such as Matt Sydal, Ted DiBiase, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus & The Miz are to be given a strong push in the coming months as a result. It comes as no real surprise that of the names being rumoured to be leaving, the majority are all in the later stages of their careers. There may also be some cuts in the future months to free up room for some of the rookies and developmental talent.

This could give some of the rookies a chance to earn themselves a push, and we’re led to believe that some of them have made a strong impression on the powers that be already. Apparently Justin Gabriel, Alberto Del Rio-Ramirez & J-Red are those that are really impressing officials backstage. Word is that Bryan Danielson, Awesome Kong & ODB will be debuting very soon also but no dates have been confirmed as of yet, although we understand Danielson has been pencilled in as appearing at Survivor Series next month.

Jay Lethal’s release from TNA came as a surprise to many in the business and we understand that there is interest from the WWE in him.

If you would like to make predictions for the show, you still can as I need to proof read it before I post it. The preview is on the next page and the link is here!

*The Opening Contest*

Bobby Lashley & Charlie Haas vs. Chris Masters & Ryan Sheffield

Closing Minutes:
Sheffield’s in control and he knows it, still menacing though as he takes his time getting back up. Haas is squirming around him at his feet and Sheffield gets a nod from the all business Masterpiece on the apron. The rookie stares down at Haas with Lashley watching on closely from his partner’s corner. Sheffield drags Haas up and fires him hard in to the pads with Haas’s back hitting them with so much force, wincing in pain as the intense Sheffield fires himself up even more. Now he charges across the ring at his opponent and jumps up at the cornered Haas, connecting with the BODY AVALANCHE!. . . . .

Sheffield looks like a man possessed and backs out of the corner as Haas staggers out starved of air and right in to the rookie’s clutches. He’s helpless as Sheffield grabs him around the upper torso and sends him flying back over his head courtesy of an OVERHEAD BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX!!. . . . . Haas lands hard on his back and is in a bad way, rolling around with pain written all over his face. Skip isn’t feeling sorry for him at all and simply crawls across on his knees to make a cover with a determined look on his face as the referee drops to his knees to make the count. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No!

The courageous Haas just about gets his shoulder up, not going down well with the angry rookie. Masters isn’t happy either and barks out instructions at his rookie, and Sheffield nods back at him this time. Staring down at the battered Haas, Skip calmly picks himself back up, not taking his eyes off of his opponent for a second. Haas tries to fight through the pain, trying to make it up to one knee with Lashley still watching on from the corner, not looking too concerned but not so confident either. Sheffield walks slowly towards Haas, stopping right in front of him to watch him struggle up to his feet.

Haas doesn’t get the chance to stand up as Sheffield stomps him hard in the gut with his big boot and pulls him in to place for the JACKHAMMER!!!. . . . . Panic starts to spread in the stands as the helpless Haas lies in deep trouble with Sheffield glaring menacingly in to the crowd with his smug mentor looking on with a big smile on his face. Sheffield tries to lift him but there’s still fight left in Haas who blocks it and holds on for dear life. Skip’s not happy and lets go of him to club him hard across the back, wearing Haas down that bit more and sending him down on to one knee.

Sheffield turns back in to the ropes and comes charging back, but Haas ducks a clothesline and grabs him around the waist, then plants him with a RELEASE GERMAN SUPLEX!!. . . . . The crowd cheers as both men hit the deck, and they both try to get back up as quickly as they can with Haas still struggling. The momentum keeps him going and he blocks a right hand from Sheffield to take him down with a snap mare. Sheffield hits the deck and the hurting Haas walks in to the corner and climbs up to the top rope with Sheffield quickly getting back up.

Haas watches him closely but The Masterpiece sees red as the referee makes sure Sheffield’s okay as he stands back up. With the ref’s back turned, Masters runs across the apron and shoves Haas down to the mat, met by a ton of heat from the furious fans. Masters backs up to his corner laughing off the jibes from the crowd as Sheffield and the ref sees Haas rolling around on the canvas. Masters calls out for a tag and his rookies obliges as the smug mentor now enters the ring and approaches his former partner slowly, enjoying seeing him struggle.

He gives him a helping hand and fires him in to the ropes, and as Haas comes back The Masterpiece nails him across the chest with a DOUBLE AXE HANDLE!. . . . . Once again Haas hits the mat with Lashley starting to worry. Smirking, Masters reaches down and pulls his opponent back up, lifting him up off his feet and in to a BEARHUG!!. . . . . Masters puts him through hell, torturing Haas with the submission hold, squeezing the life out of him second by second.

The fans try to encourage Haas, showing him support, stomping their feet and clapping their hands, and it has an effect. Haas responds, lifting his arms up to worry Masters ever so slightly before fighting his way free and back down to his feet. Masters is furious and watches as Haas turns back in to the ropes and runs right at him, but Masters reacts quickly to kick him in the gut before planting him with a FULL NELSON SLAM!!. . . . . Haas looks down & out and the angry Masterpiece thinks that’s it as he drops to the mat and makes a cover. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No!

The crowd cheers as Haas kicks out, much to the frustration of Masters. He stands back up with a face like fury, glaring at his former partner as he desperately tries to make it on to one knee. Masters shifts round and gives Lashley a dirty look while stalking Haas for THE MASTERLOCK!!!. . . . . The fans boo and try to warn Haas as he unwittingly makes it back up with Masters ready to strike, and he does just that to pull Haas in to place for the deadly hold but Haas doesn’t let him lock it in and shifts behind him. Masters looks shocked and Haas back tracks in to the corner.

Masters furiously turns round and runs right at him with Haas lifting his boot up in to his former partner’s face, sending him staggering out of the corner to a pop from the crowd. Haas follows him out and connects with the OLYMPIC SLAM TO A FEROCIOUS POP FROM THE PHILADELPHIA CROWD!!!. . . . . Masters is flat on his back with Sheffield panicking like mad on the apron, but Haas can’t take advantage. Slowly he lifts his head up of the mat, still dazed, and Masters shows signs of life too. He can’t stop Haas crawling towards his corner with the ultra pumped Lashley desperately holding out his hand for the cover, and he gets it too to a massive roar in the Wachovia Center.

The crowd erupts as Lashley hits the ring with Masters oblivious to it as he sits up. Sensing the danger, Sheffield races in to the ring, but Lashley sees it and charges at him to level him with a SPEAR!!!. . . . . The crowd are on their feet as Masters makes it up to his knees and up to his feet, trying to steady himself as Lashley locks his eyes on him with Sheffield rolling out to the floor. Haas stands up on the apron and watches on as Masters turns round to see Lashley charging at him to connect with the SPEAR!!!. . . . . Cheers are ringing out as Lashley shifts across on his knees to make the cover. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3!

Winners: Bobby Lashley & Charlie Haas by pinfall.

Aftermath: Lashley’s music hits to a decent pop as Haas rejoins him in the ring and they get their arms raised in victory. They give each other a brief congratulatory guy hug looking quite the team as a dazed Masters tries to lift his head up off the mat. The satisfied duo of Lashley & Haas leave the ring and take a look back as the angry Masterpiece sits up and glares back at them, not bothering them one bit.

*Cut Backstage*

Tazz & John Cena are watching on from the General Manager’s office, sat on a leather sofa looking very relaxed, and they’re both nodding their heads looking very impressed.

Tazz:
MAN, what a way t’ kick off the show huh? What y'make o’ that John?

John Cena: Yeah, same as boss. I think I might just ‘ave found two of the guys f’ my team at Survivor Series. They’re as tough as hell, an’ man can they go.

Tazz: They sure can. I don’t think you’d regret pickin’ those guys f’ a minute. They’ll give it ev’rythin’ for ya, an’ you won’t have a problem trustin’ ‘em either. I say go for it.

John Cena: I ain’t jumpin’ the gun but they did a great job I gotta say. If that’s anythin’ t’ go by, it’s gonna be hard pickin’ just one team.

Tazz: Y’can say that again, an’ we’re only just gettin’ started my man. Let’s kick back an’ enjoy the rest of the show. See who else might make it on t’ Team Cena.

John Cena: Amen t’ that!

Both still looking extremely relaxed & smiling, the GM and seemingly his number one guy slump back on the sofa and get ready to watch the next match.

*Cut to the Arena*

*Match #2*

WWE Diva’s Championship
Beth Phoenix © vs. Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool

Closing Minutes:
With Tazz pulling all rookies from ringside just before the bell rang, Beth & Mickie have taken advantage of the rattled McCool. The Diva’s Champion has found herself in the ascendency with McCool on the mat and has Mickie right where she wants her, setting her up for THE GRAND SLAM!!!. . . . . The fans are torn on who to support but most are relieved as Mickie fights her way to safety down Beth’s back. The determined challenger shocks The Glamazon, turning round in a flash to connect with a SIDE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP IN TO A ROLL THROUGH!. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No! Beth kicks out and they hurry back up to their feet with Mickie striking first with a kick to the gut of the champion. Mickie grabs Beth’s head and pulls her in to place for some STRATUSFACTION!!!. . . . . Cheers break out all around the Wachovia Centre as Mickie runs to the ropes and springboards to drive The Glamazon’s head in to the mat. The cheers are even louder as the hopeful Mickie scurries across on her knees to make the cover. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No!

McCool breaks it up with a stomp to the back of Mickie’s head. She’s not done there though and drags the helpless Mickie up, placing her head between her legs and setting her up for the FAITH-BREAKER!!!. . . . . McCool looks smug as she lifts Mickie up and drills her with the finisher, leaving the fans worried. McCool’s even cockier now as she smirks at the crowd with Mickie completely out of it on the canvas. Michelle rolls Mickie over and hooks the legs, looking supremely confident as the ref rushes round to make the count. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

No! The Glamazon dives across and on top of McCool just in time to save her title leaving all three divas on the mat. They all try and claw their way back up and Beth strikes first with a clothesline to McCool, sending her back down as Mickie rises to her feet. Beth turns round and sees the groggy Mickie steadying herself and runs across at her, but James ducks a clothesline and kicks her in the gut.

Beth slumps forward and Mickie grabs her by the head right away, getting her in to place for the IMPLANT DDT!!!. . . . . Mickie lets out an excited scream only for The Glamazon to toss her up in to the air and down to the mat to a heap. She tries to take a breath but McCool sneaks up behind her on her knees to roll her up, holding on to Beth’s pants with desperation as the ref runs across to the mat, drops to his knees and counts the fall. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No!

Beth kicks out, leaving McCool angry. She makes her way back up with the Diva’s Champion right behind her. She grabs Beth’s wrist and tries to fire him in to the ropes but The Glamazon reverses it with McCool hitting the ropes at force. She hits them and clings on to them for dear life, not going down well with Beth. She runs right at him and McCool thinks on her feet, driving her boot in to Beth’s face, sending her staggering away from the ropes. McCool takes advantage and runs up behind her, planting her with a bulldog. The focused challenger doesn’t waste a second in turning the champion over and making a cover. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No!

The Glamazon lives to fight another day but McCool’s not happy, staring in frustration at the referee. He confirms the two count, not making her any happier at all. She sees Mickie getting up by the ropes and sets her sights on her, glaring at her with Mickie totally oblivious to it. McCool stands up and runs right at her and sends her over the top and down to the floor courtesy of a clothesline. McCool sn-iggers as Mickie writhes around on the floor beneath her. As she turns back, she sees the Diva’s Champion clawing her way back up.

The smug looking challenger senses an opportunity and coolly strolls across the canvas towards her opponent. She helps Beth up and taunts her, then looks to set her up for the Wings of Love, but wait, The Glamazon counters with an ALABAMA SLAM!!. . . . . McCool hits the mat and Beth wastes no time in dragging her back up, setting her up for THE GRAND SLAM!!!. . . . . With the crowd cheering and the Diva’s Champion looking as mean as ever, she drills McCool’s face in to the canvas. Michelle’s out of it and The Glamazon shifts round on the canvas, turns her over and hooks both legs for the cover. . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

YES!

Winner: By pinfall, and still the WWE Diva’s Champion, Beth Phoenix.

Aftermath: Beth’s music hits and the crowd cheer as she stands up to get her arm raised by the referee after being passed her title. Mickie sits up on the floor and looks disappointed to see Beth lifting her title up. There’s no hard feelings between them as Nikki Roxx, Beth’s rookie comes out to congratulate her mentor. An unhappy set of rookies in Alicia Fox & Rosa Mendes half run down the ramp and check on their mentor as McCool sits up, not seeming to know where she is right now as Beth & Roxx leave the ring all smiles.

*Cut Backstage*

Josh Matthews is standing by at the interview set.

Josh Matthews:
Joining me at this time along with his girlfriend Layla is Elijah Burke.

The camera zooms out and there stand Elijah Burke and the gorgeous Layla, and both of them are looking very serious indeed tonight.

Josh Matthews:
Elijah, later on t’night you will be going one on one with Dolph Ziggler, and we all know what will happen if you fail to win that match. . . Dolph will be able to take your girlfriend Layla out on a date. . . Layla I’d like to ask you first how you would feel if indeed Elijah doesn’t win, meaning you would have to go out on a date with Dolph Ziggler?

Layla looks genuinely repulsed as Josh extends his arm with the microphone past Burke and in Layla’s direction. Burke too doesn’t even want to contemplate the worst happening as Layla tries to find the words.

Layla:
Well I’ve been hit on by a lot of creeps in my time Josh, but none of them compare to that sleazeball. The thought of having to be anywhere near him makes me physically sick. Fortunately I know that it’s not going to happen because I know my baby will beat him t’night and I won’t have to go out with him.

Josh stands back, as does Layla, but there’s still some tension in the air.

Josh Matthews:
Elijah it seems that your girlfriend has a lot of faith in you. Just how much do you want to win for her, and how does this match t’night rank in the important matches you’ve had throughout your career?

Elijah Burke: I’d be lyin’ if I said I didn’t wanna do this for her. I’ve seen her ev’ry night f’ months after he’s tried it on an’ I’ve seen what that’s done to her. There’s no way in the world I’m gonna let him get anywhere near her, but Josh as much as I wanna do this f’ Layla, I’ve never wan’ed t’ kick someone’s ass much as I do his t’night. Ever since he’s got here, he’s walked round here without a care in the world thinkin’ he can do whatever he wants with whoever he wants, an’ t’night he’s gonna find out that doesn’t go down like that. He’s in f’ a whole word of trouble let me tell ya, an’ if it ain’t bad enough he’s been stalkin’ my baby, you saw what he did the other night. He ain’t nothin’ but a no good coward. T’night he’s gonna get what’s comin’ to ‘im, an’ I know cowards Josh. I’ve dealt with cowards before an’ let me tell y’somethin’, when it comes down to it, guys like him don’t step up. They ain’t got the guts t’ step up an’ fight like a man, but me, I’m more than up f’ the fight, an’ a fight’s what he’s gonna get. Make no mistake about it. By the time the night’s through, he won’t be out on a date with Layla an’ he’ll wish he never came near her. I’m gonna do whatever it takes t’ make that happen, believe that.

Layla relaxes and smiles as her boyfriend stares directly in to the camera. She rubs the top of his arm as the camera zooms in on him before fading out and cutting back to the arena.

The UK Pack © w/TJ Wilson & Natalya Neidhart vs. Petey Williams & Johnny Devine

Closing Minutes:
Burchill’s got Devine where he wants him and the Canadian’s suffering, squirming on the canvas with Petey Williams looking worried for his partner from the apron. Burchill isn’t relenting and goes right back to work, bending down and dragging Devine back up to scoop slam him right back down to the mat. The focused Englishman takes a step back and flips up in to the air, coming down on Devine for a STANDING MOONSAULT!!. . . . . Devine’s winded by that and Burchill reaches to the side with the fans cheering to hook the Canadian’s leg for a cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

Devine gets his shoulder up, bringing some relief to his partner. Petey can only watch as Burchill gives him the eyes as he stands back up, bringing the helpless Devine up with him. Looking very focused, Burchill lifts Devine up on to his shoulders with ease and back tracks towards the ropes. The Englishman now runs forward to the middle of the ring and plants his opponent with a ROLLING FIREMAN’S CARRY!!. . . . . Devine’s back is driven hard in to the canvas and the determined co-champion wastes no time in shimmying round to make another cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No!

Williams storms the ring and stamps on Burchill’s back and Harry Smith is furious. He races through the ropes and goes right after Petey, but the ref gets in the way and holds him back as his partner makes his way back up and stares right at Petey. The Canadian plays all innocent, holding his hands up as Devine gets to his knees behind Burchill and with nothing but desperation, low blows him with Burchill dropping to his knees and then flat on his chest. Petey & Devine smirk at each other as Devine stands up, and with Smith furiously trying to let the ref know what just happened, Petey leaves the ring with a big grin on his face.

Devine’s locked on Burchill now and helps him back up with no resistance from the Brit. Johnny pulls Burchill’s head under his arm and smirks in to the crowd before drilling him with a TORNADO DDT!!. . . . . Burchill’s head just got driven in to the canvas and his lights have been wiped out. Devine looks hopeful and scurries across to push Burchill over on to his back and go for the cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

No! Burchill just gets his shoulder up leaving Devine devastated. He sits up and stares at the ref desperate for him to tell him it was three but it wasn’t. Devine stands up and sees his partner calling for a tag, and he obliges, tagging in the fired up Williams. Petey flies in to the squared circle and right up to the groggy Burchill. He grabs the fallen champion’s legs and looks to apply the SHARPSHOOTER!!!. . . . . Williams takes his time and smirks over at the furious Smith before fighting tough & nail to turn Burchill over.

Burchill does his best to fight it, but after the tornado DDT before, he’s in a bad way and the Canadian manages to lock in the hold. Petey applies the pressure with Burchill trying to fight the hold, reaching out his arm towards the ropes even though they’re a mile away. Smith & Wilson get the crowd going and the encouragement helps Burchill, and he drags himself across the mat to try and get to the ropes, causing some concern for Petey. He looks worried as Burchill drags himself to within touching distance, and with one last throw of the dice he throws his arm on to the bottom rope, setting off a huge pop inside the Wachovia Center.

Devine stomps angrily on the apron while Wilson & Natalya punch the air on the outside. Smith watches on as the livid Petey stands up and glares in anger at the ref before going back after Burchill. He grabs his legs and tries to drag him away from the ropes, but the big man uses his size advantage count this time and kicks him away with force, putting Petey on his ass. Smith likes what he’s seeing and nods in approval as his intense partner pulls himself back up and sets his sights firmly on Williams.

With the crowd still cheering, Burchill drives his boot down the oncoming Petey’s throat to an even bigger pop from the capacity crowd. The Canadian’s sent staggering away from the ropes in a spin and Burchill follows it up by running out after him and nailing him with a JUMPING NECK-BREAKER!!!. . . . . The cheers get even louder with Devine panicking big time as Burchill hooks both of Petey’s legs with the challenger not moving an inch. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

Devine breaks it up, running at Burchill and nailing him in the face with a sit-down dropkick! Boos ring out as Smith flips and Devine scarpers from the ring before he can get anywhere near him. Smith argues with the ref as Petey & Burchill start to stir in the ring. They turn around and crawl towards their respective corners with the crowd urging Burchill on, and just as Petey makes the tag to Devine, Burchill dives up and slaps his partner’s hand. Smith charges in to the ring to a big pop and the frustration of Devine and nails him with a clothesline. Devine isn’t down for long and picks himself back up. Smith is so pumped it’s unreal and fires the Canadian in to the ropes who comes flying back in to a spinning powerslam. Devine’s in trouble and Smith doesn’t waste a second, instantly hooking the leg for a cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . No!

Devine gets his shoulder but is obviously struggling as he lifts his head up off the mat. There’s no sympathy from Harry who quickly stands back up and brings his opponent up with him, connecting with a NORTHERN LIGHTS SUPLEX!!. . . . . Holding on for a cover, Smith waits for the ref to rush across and make the count. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

No! Devine holds on again as Petey makes it back up in the corner. He sees Smith getting back up and runs right at him, but Harry sees him coming and grabs him by the head to send him flying over the ropes down to the floor below. The crowd are cheering now as TJ watches on approvingly with his mentor hell bent on finishing the job. Devine’s struggling to make it back up on to his knees, but Smith gives him a helping hand, scooping him up on to his shoulder. Retreating to the corner with Devine putting up no resistance, the crowd rise to their feet as the focused Smith runs across the ring and plants him with the RUNNING POWERSLAM!!!. . . . . It’s all over or so it seems as Smith reaches to the side and hooks Devine’s legs for the cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3!

Winners: By pinfall, and still the WWE Tag Team Champions, The UK Pack.

Aftermath: “Britannia” plays with the fans cheering the champions and Wilson & Natalya join them in the ring. The champs get their titles passed to them by the ref and raise them up in the air, and as TJ walks up to his mentor, Smith turns round and gives his long time friend and then his cousin a big hug. All three of them laugh & joke with each other with Burchill looking a little like the odd one out. TJ then smiles at Burchill and pats him on the back before leaving the ring and leading the way with Smith & Natalya following, all smiles with a uneasy Burchill then following them as an angry Petey sits up on the outside.

*Cut Backstage*

A very focused ‘Captain Charisma’ Christian is walking through the halls with his problem solver, Tyson Tomko. Christian looks pumped as he walks through the halls with his travel bag in toe, and as he turns a corner, he bumps right in to Edge. There’s some real tension between the brothers given that the last time they came face to face was at SummerSlam when Christian defeated Edge. The Rated-R Superstars stares with nothing but hate in his eyes at his brother, and he’s met by a fierce stare back from his younger brother. Edge takes a small step back with Christian & Tomko watching his every move.

Edge:
Well here you are C’. I hear it’s your big night, the night you’ve been waiting for your entire life, but let me tell y’somethin’ bro’, you can think you’re in with a shot of leavin’ here t’night as the new World Heavyweight Champion, but you haven’t got a hope in hell. If by some miracle you do pull it off, and that’s what you’re gonna need, a miracle, I’m gonna be right there looking over your shoulder. See I’ve not gotten SummerSlam out of my head, and yeah ev’ryone might think my only concern right now is getting John Cena off of Smackdown, but I’ve not forgotten you and the embarrassment I felt at SummerSlam when by some miracle you actually managed to beat me for once in your life. . . In fact y’know what, miracles do happen an’ as much as I’d love t’ see you embarrassed t’night, I kind o’ hope you do win the world title. That way I can kill two birds with one stone. . . beat you and become World Champion at the same time.

Christian: Y’know what I say Adam. . . bring it on. . . I don’t care what you’re hopin’ for. I kicked your ass, I beat you and now I’ve got a shot at the one thing left I’ve not done, becoming World Champion. If that means I get a chance t’ kick your ass all over again, great. It just gives me a whole other incentive t’ get the job done t’night, and it won’t be a miracle. You can call me beatin’ you at SummerSlam a miracle all you want. All my peeps out there know I deserved it, just like I deserve this shot t’night, and you can bank on this bro’. . . I’m gonna take it. Now get out of my way.

The ultra fired up Christian barges past Edge without a care in the world with Tomko following, sni-gerring at him too as he walks past with The Rated-R Superstar staring angrily at his brother walking back down the hall.

*Match #4*

Elijah Burke w/Layla vs. Dolph Ziggler
If Ziggler wins, he gets a date with Layla
If Burke wins, Ziggler must stay away from them

Closing Minutes:
Ziggler’s looking in a faraway place as he holds on to the ropes, using them to help pick himself back up with Burke’s eyes locked on him across the ring. Ziggler makes it back up but Burke’s out to change that and charges at him with fury. Dolph sees him coming and panics but drops to his knees in a flash and holds down the bottom rope to send Burke down to the floor, crashing against the pads. Layla doesn’t like the look of that unlike Ziggler who smirks by the ropes on his knees, enjoying the sight of Burke writhing around on the floor.

The brash superstar pulls himself under the bottom rope and hits the floor with Layla looking even more concerned as Ziggler calmly approaches the squirming Burke. Dolph pulls him back up with no resistance from his opponent and fires him in to the RINGPOST FACE FIRST!!. . . . . Burke just falls to the floor with Ziggler still smirking, and again he coolly drags his rival back up, but this time he shoves him back in the ring under the bottom rope. With Layla watching on with deep concern, Ziggler slips back in and pulls her boyfriend away from the ropes to hook the leg for a cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

No! Burke gets his shoulder up. The fans cheer and Layla breathes a sigh of relief as for the first time, Ziggler shows some frustration, looking up at the referee for a few seconds. He shakes it off and picks himself back up, going back to work as a dazed Burke lifts his head up off the canvas, not looking in a good place right now. Ziggler knows it too and can see the worry on Layla’s face, and he walks over to the apron, taunting her and pointing to Burke as he struggles to make his way up to his feet. Layla just stares at him in disgust, and as Burke makes it back up, Dolph walks over and stomps him in the gut before planting him with an INVERTED DDT!!. . . . . Burke’s head is driven in to the canvas and he’s not moving at all. Dolph smirks again and turns his rival over on to his back, allowing him to make a cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

No! Burke gets his foot on the rope to the shock of Ziggler. He looks at the referee and back at the ropes like Burke’s foot shouldn’t be there. Layla tries to get behind her man as he comes round, not going down well with his opponent. Ziggler’s getting serious now as he stands back up and urges him to do the same. Slowly but surely Burke makes it back up to his feet with Ziggler taunting him, firing up the groggy Burke. Elijah looks at him with fury and paces out to him, but Ziggler reacts in a flash to duck a right hand, slipping behind him to lock in a SLEEPER HOLD!!!. . . . . Boos ring out in the arena as Ziggler locks in the submission hold, trying to starve Burke of oxygen, and it’s working.

Layla’s looking worried again but tries to encourage him, shouting out to him and banging her fists against the apron, getting a response from the fans who start to clap and stomp their feet. It gets a response from Burke too and an angry one from Dolph. Burke raises his right hand up with the referee watching closely by his side, worrying Ziggler now as Burke fights back and drives his elbow in to his rival’s side. Burke fights for his life and shoves him forward in to the ropes with Ziggler hitting them and coming racing back in to a LIFTING SPINNING SIT-DOWN SPINEBUSTER!!!. . . . . Cheers break out as Ziggler’s sent crashing in to the canvas back first with the still hurting Burke readjusting for a cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

NO!. . . . . Ziggler just and only just gets his shoulder up. Layla can’t believe it on the outside, slumping forward on to the apron in shock. Burke takes it on the chin and leans back on his knees as Ziggler crawls away and towards the corner. Burke watches him as he pulls himself up the pads, and the intensity builds inside Burke. He stands back up and retreats to the opposite corner, pulling down his knee pads to a big pop as he prepares for the ELIJAH EXPRESS!!!. . . . . The fans stand up as Burke gets ready and charges at Ziggler, jumping up at him with his knees, but no! Ziggler turns round and steps to the side.

Burke reacts quickly and grabs the top rope. He turns round in a flash and Ziggler nails him with a right hand, then tries for an irish whip, but Burke reverses it and sends him right in to the path of the referee to send them both down! Burke & Layla look on in shock with the ref seemingly out of it as Ziggler rolls to the side. Burke looks genuinely concerned for the referee and goes to check on him, taking his eyes off of his opponent. The ref still isn’t moving, and Burke shaking him isn’t helping. He tells Layla what she should already be able to see, and they look as confused as each other as what to do while Dolph claws his way back up behind Burke unnoticed.

Not for long though as Layla tries to warn her man, but it’s too late and he falls victim to the ZIG ZAG!!!. . . . . Ziggler shimmies round in a flash and goes for the cover, not knowing the ref is down & out. He looks across the mat and sees the ref lying there totally out of it, and he’s not happy at all. He looks gutted and drops his head in to his hands, knowing he has Burke beat. He then takes another look and shakes his head furiously, then spots an opportunity as a big smile appears on his face, causing yet more concern for Layla. He heads out of the ring and grabs a chair before slipping back in as Burke sits up, totally oblivious as to what’s waiting for him.

Layla’s freaking out big time as the ref remains motionless on the mat with Ziggler almost salivating at the sight of Burke struggling back up to his feet. The fans boo, getting increasingly nervous as Ziggler raises the chair up above his head. Layla can’t take it any longer and rushes in to the ring behind him. She reaches up and grabs the chair from him, shocking the hell out of Ziggler who turns round and stares at her. He asks her what she’s doing and she just stares at him with contempt, threatening to blast him with the chair, and he begins to laugh.

He shakes his head and tells her she’s not going to do it, angering her further and she snaps, SWINGING THE CHAIR AND NAILING DOLPH IN THE FACE WITH THE CHAIR TO A HUGE ROAR INSIDE THE WACHOVIA CENTER!!!. . . . . Burke stands up and looks surprised himself with Layla glaring down at Dolph, completely out for the count on his back in the middle of the ring. Burke looks impressed and nods at her, then takes the chair before tossing it out of the ring and telling her to leave him to it.

The ref begins to come round, all starry eyed on the mat as Burke smiles at the cheering crowd and then reaches down to pull the defenceless Ziggler back up. He puts up no resistance whatsoever as Burke sets him up for the ELIJAH EXPERIENCE!!!. . . . . More cheers break out as Burke enjoys the moment, looking in to the stands with Layla watching intently as Burke then seals the deal, driving Ziggler down in to the mat and hooking the leg with the drowsy ref crawling across to make the count. . . . .

1. . . . .

. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

YES!!

Winner: Elijah Burke by pinfall.

Aftermath: “Don’t Waste My Time” plays to a big pop and a delighted Layla flies in to the ring as Burke gets up and jumps right at him. He catches her and she gives him a kiss and a big hug (lucky sod). He then places her back on her feet, both smiling at the sight of Ziggler not having a clue where he is on the mat. They hug & kiss again before leaving the ring with their arms round each other, pissing Ziggler off as he sits up in the ring, glaring at the happy couple as they simply laugh down at him, pissing him off even more.

*Cut Backstage*

Todd Grisham
is standing by in the back, outside a locker room and standing to the side of the door.

Todd Grisham:
Later on this evening C-M Punk will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship in a triple threat match, and joining me at this time is one of the men who will be challenging him for that title, Chris Jericho.

The camera zooms out and there stands Chris Jericho in a suit looking very serious as he prepares to compete for the world title later on.

Todd Grisham:
Before I get to t’night Chris, I want to ask you about what happened on Smackdown two nights ago when things between you and Christian got in to a heated confrontation, resulting in you being on the received end of a Killswitch and losing that match against C-M Punk and Alberto Del Rio-Ramirez.

Chris Jericho: I think Todd it’s perfectly clear to everyone with even the slightest shred of intelligence that Christian is and always has been jealous of me. It’s not exactly difficult to see why but I’m not going to get in to that t’night. The only thing that matters t’night is that I have the opportunity to become the World Heavyweight Champion, an opportunity I shouldn’t have to have fought for in the first place. May I remind you that I defeated The Undertaker at SummerSlam, and that was the last time he was recognised as a Smackdown superstar. From where I’m standing Todd it’s blindingly obvious that The Undertaker realised that with Chris Jericho on Smackdown, there was only person who was going to climb to the top of this mountain. That however is not C-M Punk as he would like you to think. I’ve listened to Punk for the last month, talking about how he feels he hasn’t had the credit he deserves as World Champion. Well Punk, you haven’t beaten The Undertaker like I have and you haven’t beaten me. And just so we’re clear, you won’t t’night either. I’m in a diff’rent league to ev’ryone else in not just this company but the entire world. That’s what makes me the best in the world at what I do, and if there’s anyone who doubts that statement for a single second, I will prove them wrong when I walk leave here t’night as the new World Heavyweight Champion.

The confident Jericho smirks down the camera then turns round and heads back in to his locker room having made a firm impression on Grisham.

*Match #5*

Flag Match
M.V.P. & Ron Killings vs. The Empire w/Katie Lee

Closing Minutes:
Killings is in a bad way right now with the focused McIntyre not taking his eyes off of him for a second as he claws his way up by the Scotsman’s boots. With the intense Barrett watching on from the apron, William Regal walks out to the stage to the bewilderment of everyone in the arena. Barrett & McIntyre see him, looking baffled as the serious Englishman dressed in a suit stands still and watches the action. Drew goes back to work and clubs Killings across the back before whipping him in to the ropes. The Scot ducks his head as Killings comes flying back, leapfrogging McIntyre and catching him with a heel kick out of nowhere.

The fans cheer him as he looks to keep the momentum going. M.V.P. shows his partner some encouragement too on the apron as Sanders shows some slight concern as his stunned partner picks himself back up. Killings is fired up, watching Drew all the way up and turns back in to the ropes, comes flying back and connects with a JUMPING CORKSCREW FOREARM SMASH!!. . . . . The fans love it! Killings is ultra pumped right now as Drew makes his way back up, shell shocked by Killings’ comeback. With Regal still watching, causing some concern for him, Killings focuses on his opponent and kicks him in the gut.

He pulls Drew by his head under his arm, in to place for the TRUTH CONVICTION (SITOUT INVERTED SUPLEX SLAM)!!. . . . . He gets it, all of it, sending McIntyre crashing forward in to the canvas face first. A big cheer echoes around the arena but Barrett quickly changes that by racing in to the ring and levelling Killings as he stands up with a thunderous clothesline. A chorus of boos meet that, not that it bothers Barrett in the slightest. M.V.P. is bothered and he storms the ring to take Barrett down with a clothesline of his own to a solid pop.

Katie Lee and Regal too don’t look at ease at the moment as Wade picks himself up by the ropes getting sent flying down to the floor from another clothesline courtesy of M.V.P. The Franchise Player joins him on the outside, sending Katie back a few steps as Killings & McIntyre make it back up on the inside. Killings looks to strike first and gets set for the TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES (Suplex into a stunner)!!!. . . . . The intense Killings takes a second to look in to the crowd, seemingly enjoying having Drew at his mercy, but the Scot blocks it to Killings’ surprise. McIntyre fights free with an elbow strike. He quickly grabs Killings by the arm and whips him in to his knee, lifting it up in to Killings’ gut.

He’s not done there and connects right away with a snap suplex. The sore McIntyre sits up and sees the coast is clear and crawls across to the corner, seemingly going for the Union Jack with M.V.P & Barrett slugging it out on the floor. The fans boo as McIntyre climbs up the ropes and M.V.P. sees him, panicking and quickly heading back in to the ring, followed by Barrett. Just as M.V.P. grabs Drew’s boot, Barrett grabs his. M.V.P. fights for his life and kicks back at Wade, freeing his foot to pull Drew down from the top rope. Drew hits the deck to a cheer from the crowd as Regal watches on intently from the stage.

M.V.P. heads towards the old glory to a big pop, but Barrett’s back on his feet in a flash and goes right after him with a face like thunder. The Brit turns him round, lifts him off his feet and plants him with a SPINEBUSTER!!. . . . . Barrett glares down at him with contempt, just as Killings gets back up to his feet. Barrett doesn’t realise at first, but as he does, they run at each other and Killings catches him with a SNAP SWINGING BECK BREAKER!!. . . . . A pop breaks out once again as Drew tries to claw his way back up. Killings, all business goes right after him and pulls him back up, this time connecting with the TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES!!!. . . . .

Killings looks very satisfied as he sees the path is clear, then heads to the corner to claim the red, white & blue. Regal’s not impressed but the fans are cheering, but not for long as Katie flies in to action. She runs across the ring and grabs Killings by the boot, catching him well & truly by surprise. He can’t believe what he’s seeing as he turns round to see her clinging on for dear life. He doesn’t know what to do and yells at her to let go as Barrett sits up and sees what’s going on. He rushes back up and heads in to the corner, jumping on to the second rope and low blowing Killings, then shoves him back down to the mat to a ton of heat.

Katie smiles at the focused Wade before leaving the ring. Not having a clue of what’s just happened, M.V.P. makes his way back up. Barrett is well aware, turning his head and locking his eyes on his bitter rival. He watches him every step of the way, and as M.V.P. turns round, Barrett charges at him and takes his head off with a BIG BOOT TO THE FACE!!. . . . . M.V.P. falls to the mat and looks well out for the count. Barrett’s not done with him and stomps him across the mat to the apron. Killings starts to stir and Wade is right on him too, walking right over to him. He drags him up off his feet and on to his shoulders. . . WASTELAND!!!. . . . . Killings is sent crashing down to the mat and isn’t moving an inch.

Regal, still looking incredibly serious watches on as Barrett turns his head and focuses firmly on the Union Jack hanging on the pole in the corner. That’s where he heads, and more importantly, he’s unopposed. With the fans booing, he heads up the ropes as McIntyre stands up to watch his partner attempt to secure victory. It looks as if there’s one last stand from M.V.P. as he uses the ropes to try and make it back up, but the Scot sees him. Drew walks over and meets him as he walks out from the ropes with a kick to the gut, then follows it up with the FUTURE SHOCK DDT!!!. . . . . MVP’s out of it and Barrett turns round to see the good news. He smiles and grabs the flag to a ton of heat.

Winners: The Empire by retrieving their flag.

Aftermath: “On A Mission” plays with the fans still showing their discontent, not that it bothers The Empire at all. Barrett jumps down off the ropes with the flag and waves it proudly in the ring with McIntyre & Katie smiling & nodding. Regal shows a brief glimpse of a smile before heading to the back, still confusing his fellow Brits in the ring as they soak up the moment and survey the damage left with Killings & M.V.P. flat out on their backs.

*Match #6*

Shawn Michaels vs. Jack Swagger

Closing Minutes:
The Miz, still sitting in the front row after making his way down through the crowd before the bell watches on as both Michaels & Swagger make their way back up. He watches closely as Swagger reverses a whip. The Heartbreak Kid comes flying back off the ropes and jumps at Swagger, taking him down and nailing him with a flurry of right hands, LOU THESZ PRESS!. . . . . Michaels relents and returns to his feet with the drowsy Swagger doing the same. Michaels is on him in a flash and scoops him to slam him right back down in to the canvas. That generates a pop from the crowd as HBK heads to the apron and climbs up to the dizzy heights of the top rope.

The Miz looks disgusted and Shawn gives him a quick glance before leaping off the top for the HEARTBREAK ELBOW DROP!!. . . . . NO! SWAGGER ROLLS TO THE SIDE AND DODGES THE BULLET!. . . . . The All-American American lifts his head up off the mat and breathes a sigh of relief to see Michaels writhing around. Both men pick themselves up with the crowd chanting “H-B-K” but it’s Swagger who acts first, taking Shawn down with a leg whip takedown and follows it up with a snap elbow drop to the chest. He wastes no time in going for a cover, hooking Michaels’ leg as the ref rushes down to his knees to make the count. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

Michaels comfortably gets his shoulder up to the slight frustration of Swagger. He stands up and urges his opponent to get back up, and it doesn’t take long. The Heartbreak Kid rolls on to his knee with Swagger getting ready to explode. Jack can’t wait any longer and drags Shawn up by the arm to fire him hard in to the turnbuckle pads. Michaels winces as his back hits them with Swagger charging right at him to nail him with a hard clothesline. The All-American American steps back as the wounded Michaels staggers out in to his path and an OVERHEAD BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX!!. . . . . Swagger’s in the zone right now and scurries across the mat to hook Michael’s nearest leg for a cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

NO! The Heartbreak Kid gets the shoulder up but is struggling right now as an intense Swagger leans back with an angry Miz still watching on in the front row. The young Oklahoman looks in to the corner and springs back in to action. He stands up and drags his opponent towards the corner, then climbs up to the second rope with his back to Shawn. The All-American American takes the time to taunt the crowd, giving Michaels just the chance he needs to make it back up to his feet.

Swagger doesn’t have a clue and is helpless as Michaels climbs up the ropes and connects with a SIDE SUPLEX!!. . . . . The fans are cheering, getting The Miz even more agitated. Michaels crawls across on his knees back to the corner, stepping through the apron to climb all the way up to the top rope. Swagger’s showing no signs of movement as HBK composes himself and takes a big leap, this time connecting with THE HEARTBREAK ELBOW DROP!!. . . . . A big pop breaks out in the stands as Michaels shimmies round on the canvas to make a cover on Swagger. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

NO! The fans are left disappointed as Swagger manages to just, and only just lift his shoulder up off the mat in time, much to the satisfaction of The Miz. His smile is spotted by Michaels as the veteran rises to his feet and then retreats to the corner. The crowd go nuts as he starts tuning up the band, quickly wiping the smile of Miz’s face on the outside as the oblivious All-American American tries to make his way back up. The Miz is shaking his head in frustration in the front row as Swagger gets up to his feet, and as he turns round, Michaels explodes out of the corner for some SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!. . . . .

NO! SWAGGER GRABS MICHAELS’ BOOT FOR AND WRESTLES HIM DOWN TO THE MAT IN AN ANKLE LOCK!!!. . . . . BUT WAIT, MICHAELS KICKS BACK UP AT HIM!. . . . . Shawn fights free and rushes back up to his feet to run back in to the ropes. He comes running back at dives at Swagger for a crossbody, but Swagger catches him and drops him down to the mat, holding on to the ankle to apply the ANKLE LOCK AGAIN!!!. . . . . GREAT COUNTER FROM SWAGGER AND THE MIZ LOVES IT!!!. . . . . Mr. Hollywood jumps to his feet and punches the air as his buddy puts Michaels through hell, yelling at him to tap.

Michaels is in agony and it’s there for all to see as he reaches out with desperation to grab the rope but he’s nowhere near it. The Miz is still loving it with Michaels face directly in front of him. He taunts The Heartbreak Kid, but that just brings more fight out of him. He drags himself across the mat with everything he can, worrying Swagger somewhat who just holds on as tight as he can to Shawn’s ankle. The fans start chanting Michaels’ name as he gets closer & closer, and with one last throw off the dice, he reaches out for the bottom rope and gets it!

The fans are going nuts, cheering like crazy with the exception of The Miz who just shakes his head in disgust. Swagger’s not happy either and only lets the hold go at the count of four. Swagger’s not though and tries to drag Michaels back across the ring, but Michaels turns over and kicks him right in the kisser, sending The All-American American back and down to the mat. Both men try and pick themselves back up with Shawn using the ropes to help him, looking unsteady on his ankle.

Swagger’s pissed though and doesn’t waste anytime in going right after Shawn, but THE HEARTBREAK KID SEES HIM COMING AND REACTS IN A FLASH TO NAIL HIM WITH THE SUPER KICK!!!. . . . . The fans jump out of their seats as Swagger just falls flat on his back, but the momentum takes Michaels down too, still in bad shape after the ankle lock. It takes him a few seconds to crawl across towards the motionless Swagger and hook his leg for a cover . . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

NO!

Swagger somehow gets his shoulder to the amazement of those inside the Wachovia Center. The Miz however is beaming, laughing to himself as the gobsmacked Heartbreak Kid sits up and looks at the referee signalling the two count. Michaels turns his head to see The Miz enjoying his frustration and gives him a death stare before going back to work. He stands back up and grabs both of Swagger’s legs, staring right at The Miz before turning his opponent over on to his front to lock in the SHARPSHOOTER!!!. . . . .

There’s an eruption of cheers inside the arena as Swagger screams out in pain, lifting his right hand up in to the air and looking in real danger. Michaels applies the pressure and makes Swagger fight to hang on in there, and to his credit he does. He fights the hold with all he has inside his body, then tries to crawl towards the ropes and slowly gets to within touching distance in front of The Miz. Swagger’s buddy stands up in front of him and encourages him to get there, shouting at him, telling him he can do it. It looks like he can as Swagger throws his arm down on the rope, resulting in a whole host of boos inside the Wachovia Center.

The Miz claps ferociously in support for Swagger, but The All-American American looks spent. Michaels can’t believe it, looking very disappointed as he regretfully lets the hold go. He goes after Swagger and pulls him away from the ropes and up to his feet, turns back to the ropes and comes racing back to take him down with a FLYING FOREARM SMASH!!. . . . . The Heartbreak Kid flips up to a huge roar from the capacity crowd, but Swagger too is on the up. Michaels heads to the corner and climbs up to the top rope with The All-American American walking towards him. Shawn takes a look back and comes off the top for an ASAI MOONSAULT!!. . . . .

Swagger catches Michaels on his shoulder and plants him with a SHOULDER BREAKER!!. . . . . Michaels hits the mat and rolls around in agony with The Miz loving it and shouting out for his buddy, and Swagger doesn’t need any advice as he grabs Michaels’ arm and drags him across to the corner. He wastes no time in climbing the ropes, and this time he doesn’t mess about and connects with the SLINGSHOT CORNER SPLASH!!!. . . . . Swagger lands right on Michaels’ chest and reaches to the side, grabbing Michaels’ leg for the cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

NO!

Swagger flips out and bangs his head in to the canvas, staring at the referee. He doesn’t get much sympathy, only from The Miz. The All-American American is urged by him to finish Michaels off and that’s what he looks to do. Swagger stands back up and urges Shawn to do the same, and slowly he does, walking right in to his path and a stomp to the gut. The promising youngster lifts him up off his feet for the SPIN-OUT POWERBOMB!!!. . . . . BUT WAIT!. . . . . MICHAELS SLIPS DOWN TO SAFETY DOWN SWAGGER’S BACK!. . . . . The stunned Swagger turns around and goes for a wild clothesline but Michaels ducks it, leans back and BOOM!!!. . . . . SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!. . . . . . Swagger drops back to the mat and the tired Michaels falls on top of him for the cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

. . . . . 3!

Winner: Shawn Michaels by pinfall.

Aftermath: “Sexy Boy” blasts out to a thunderous reception and to the anger of The Miz. He just glares at Michaels as The Heartbreak Kid stands up to get his arm raised by the referee as Swagger rolls to the apron and down to the floor. Michaels poses for the crowd, climbing up to the second rope and pointing to them and then clapping them. He then switches sides and does the same again when The Miz catches his eye. Mr. Hollywood just stares at him, and as Michaels jumps down off the ropes, he asks Justin Roberts for a microphone, and he gets it. He walks right over to the ropes and in front of The Miz, staring right back at him.

Shawn Michaels: Cut my music. . . (Stops). . . Miz, now your buddy’s out of the way, how d’ y’fancy your chances? You wanna prove you’re the star you think you are? How ‘bout you an’ your big mouth step in here with me like a man for once in your life an’ prove it big man?

*Big Pop*

Michaels drops the stick and The Miz glares at him with a face like thunder and stands up with the crowd cheering, anticipating The Miz about to get his ass handed to him. Mr. Hollywood acts all confident and climbs over the security wall with Michaels psyching himself up in the ring. The angry Miz stomps up the steps and through the ropes, then gives Michaels one dirty stare. He’s hot and he rips off his jacket, throwing it down to the mat in a strop, not impressing Michaels one bit though. The Miz raises his fists and urges Shawn to come at him, yelling at him with The Heartbreak Kid looking on in a state of shock at The Miz’s bravery.

Michaels doesn’t know how to react, pissing The Miz off even more. The Clevelander throws another strop and turns his back on Michaels to leave the ring to a ton of heat as he climbs through the ropes and jumps down to the floor. The heat is deafening as Michaels shakes his head, watching on as Mr. Hollywood backs up the ramp staring back at Michaels as “Sexy Boy” plays again to a big pop. Shawn’s still shaking his head, not looking all hat surprised as Miz, still acting like a spoiled brat as he gives the fans some dirty looks, then turns back to Michaels and tells him it’s not over!

*Cut Backstage*

Josh Matthews is standing by at the interview set looking all professional.

Josh Matthews:
Ladies and gentleman, joining me at this time is the World Heavyweight Champion, C-M Punk.

As the camera zooms out, we can see ‘The Straight-Edge Superstar’ & World Champion, CM Punk in his ring gear, along with his rookie, Alberto Del Rio-Ramirez. Both men are looking fairly serious, but Punk does seem quite confident at the same time despite the boos we can hear coming from the arena.

Josh Matthews:
In our main event t’night Punk you’ll be defending the world title in a triple threat match against Christian and Chris Jericho, and it goes without saying that in a triple threat match, the odds are stacked against the champion retaining his ti. . .

CM Punk: . . . Josh let me stop you there alright. See just like ev’ryone else, you’re underestimating me. . .

Josh Matthews: . . . That’s not what I meant t’ say. I. . .

CM Punk: . . . Yes it is. It’s what I’ve had t’ deal with ever since I became the World Champion. It doesn’t matter what I do or who I beat, I’ll always be labelled as the guy who got lucky and cashed in the Money in the Bank, not the resilient fighting champion that successfully defended the title against not one man at The Great American Bash but four. I then went on to SummerSlam and defeated arguably the greatest this business has or ever will see in Shawn Michaels, yet here I am still being shown zero respect.

Del Rio-Ramirez nods along at his mentor’s words with the World Champion looking at Josh and then back in to the camera.

CM Punk:
This whole situation is a farce. Did you know there are actually people taking Christian more seriously than me?. . . Christian, someone who’s done nothing to warrant a shot at this title I’ve fought with my life to keep. Then you have Chris Jericho, a guy who thinks he should be handed ev’rything on a plate because f’ some reason he actually believes he was put on this planet as a benefit to ev’ryone else. Surely Josh it’s not hard t’ see why I’m so confused. Well I guarantee you that stops t’night. I’m going to put an end to all this doubt or hate as I believe it to be by making a statement right here t’night that no one should doubt me, that no one should doubt the man who’s fought his way up to the very top of this business without a single word of complaint like some people I could mention. I’ve built my legacy on overcoming the odds and putting my money where my mouth is by successfully defending my title time an’ time again, something I will do again t’night. If that’s not enough to prove the doubters wrong, that’s fine. The only person I have to prove something to is myself, and I guarantee that by the time the night is through, this undeserving champion will still be champion.

The World Champion stares defiantly in to the camera for a second, then turns and walks away with Del Rio-Ramirez following him.

*Match #7*

United States Championship – Ladder Match
Matt Sydal © w/Mickie James vs. Shelton Benjamin

Closing Minutes:
Shelton looks to keep the momentum going and turns back to run the ropes. Sydal reacts quickly though and shoots back up with a FEINT ENZUIGIRI IN TO A HEADSCISSORS TAKEDOWN!!. . . . . The fans are cheering as both men claw their way back up with Benjamin crawling towards the corner. Sydal doesn’t hold back and charges right at him, nailing Shelton with a running elbow smash to the face.

He backs up again with Shelton slipping down the pads on to his backside. Sydal’s feeling it right now and heads back across the ring at speed, connecting with a SEATED DOUBLE LEG KICK TO THE KISSER OF THE CHALLENGER!!. . . . . Benjamin rolls on to his side and holds his face as Sydal stands back up with Mickie looking encouraged on the outside. The King of the Ring sees the ladder on the canvas and walks right over to it. He picks it up and goes right back to Benjamin, placing the ladder between the first & second rope, right in front of Shelton’s face.

Sydal salutes the crowd by raising his hand as he heads back across the ring to size this one up before racing across and connecting with A SEATED DOUBLE LEG KICK TO THE LADDER IN TO SHELTON’S FACE!!!. . . . . The challenger just ate some ladder! Sydal senses his time could be now as Shelton falls on to his side, giving the champion the time to grab the ladder again and set it up in position in the middle of the ring, directly underneath his title belt. With the fans willing him on, the King of the Ring climbs the ladder with Mickie too encouraging her boyfriend, just as Benjamin sits up and sees Matt getting towards the top rung.

The challenger fights the pain and jumps up as quickly as he can, hobbling slightly as he runs across to the ladder and flies up the first couple of steps to grab Sydal’s leg. The champion’s surprised and is quickly pulled down to the canvas. Benjamin jumps down and tries for an irish whip, but Sydal reverses it. Shelton comes flying back and Sydal lifts him over his head for a back body drop, but Shelton counters with a JUMPING DDT!!. . . . . It’s Sydal who’s in trouble now as Benjamin sits up and takes a long look at his fallen opponent with Mickie looking a bit concerned.

She has every right to be as the serious looking challenger picks himself back up and brings his helpless opponent with him, positioning his head between his legs. Shelton lifts him up above his head and walks towards the corner, then drops Sydal’s back in to the pads with a TURNBUCKLE POWERBOMB!!!. . . . . Sydal’s rolling around in agony as Mickie looks on in horror, but it doesn’t look like Benjamin is done yet. He goes right back to work and grabs the ladder up off the mat. He walks right in to the corner and sets it up against the pads, leaning against them vertically. Mickie’s panicking in a big way now as Shelton turns back round to go after the squirming champion.

Sydal’s crawling around on all fours without a clue in the world as to what his rival’s got in store for him. Benjamin calmly gives him a helping hand off the mat and fires him towards the ladder at speed but gets a shock as Sydal reverses it. Shelton puts the brakes on though, surprising the champion and he charges right at him with intent. Benjamin counters though with a drop toe hold to send SYDAL CRASHING IN TO THE LADDER!!!. . . . . We can hear sighs of disappointment in the Wachovia Center and Benjamin sits up looking very relieved to have dodged that bullet.

He takes a mini breather before heading back to the job in hand, grabbing the ladder and walking in to the middle of the ring with Sydal holding on to the ropes in a faraway place. Mickie goes round to check on him as Shelton gets the ladder set up under the title he lost at SummerSlam. He climbs up rung by rung with the fans booing and some willing Sydal up, and he does so on the apron after crawling under the bottom rope. He steadies himself on the apron and holds on to the top rope with Shelton trying to reach up for the title with his back to Sydal.

The champion comes fighting back, springboards and DROPKICKS THE LADDER, SENDING IT CRASHING DOWN TO THE MAT WITH SHELTON GOING WITH IT!!. . . . . There’s carnage in the ring and the crowd start to chant Sydal’s name, and the two men crawl around trying to get to a vertical base. Shelton can’t and falls face down with Sydal watching. A light bulb seems to go off above his head and he goes right over to Shelton. He drags him towards the corner and then goes back to get the ladder. The fans cheer as Sydal places the ladder on top of his rival and heads up to the top rope to a huge cheer.

It takes him a while though, still struggling as he climbs up to the summit and looks down at Shelton. It’s deafening as Sydal composes himself for the most daring SHOOTING STAR PRESS OF HIS CAREER!!!. . . . . HE HITS IT!. . . . . SHOOTING STAR PRESS ON THE LADDER!!!. . . . . UNBELIEVABLE!!!. . . . . The King of the Ring is rolling around clutching his chest and no wonder! Shelton pushes the ladder off him and is agony too, clutching his stomach. It looks like a car wreck and after what seems like an age, Sydal pulls himself up to his knees, still looking in horrendous pain as he drags himself up to his feet.

He brings the ladder up with him and sets it up again, then starts his ascent with the fans cheering him on, as does Mickie. Shelton looks up with anger but is in too much pain to do anything about it. He puts it to one side and fights with his life, struggling back up to a vertical base as Sydal gets closer to the title. Benjamin slowly climbs up the opposite side, causing some concern and proving a distraction for the champion. He tries to grab the title but Shelton gets up towards the top and throws a right hand in to his gut. Sydal loses possession of the title and Benjamin strikes again with another right hand, and another.

Sydal slumps forward against the ladder and Benjamin grabs him across the upper torso and pulls him across, then explodes off the ladder with a T-BONE SUPLEX!!!. . . . . HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!. . . . . SYDAL & SHELTON AREN’T MOVING AN INCH!!!. . . . . Mickie doesn’t know what to do and looks stunned at what’s just happened, as do most of the crowd. Eventually it’s Shelton who’s the first to come round and make a move, although he looks wrecked.

He barely makes it up to his feet and brings the ladder up too, setting it up and starting to climb. Boos & panic breaks out as he slowly climbs his way up with Sydal starting to stir. Matt sits up as the fans’ nerves begin to desert them with Shelton getting within touching distance. He reaches up and grabs the belt with gasps coming from the stands. Sydal though makes it up and grabs the side of the ladder, then pushes it to the side but Shelton hangs on to the United States title.

The ladder bounces back off the ropes and Sydal grabs hold of it. Benjamin looks down worried as Sydal stabs at him with the ladder again and again, finally knocking the challenger down to a huge pop. Benjamin crash lands on the mat and Sydal places the ladder on top of his legs and arms so he can’t move. The fans carry on cheering as Sydal climbs the ladder with Benjamin going nuts, realising he’s helpless as he can only watch his long term rival reach the top of the ladder and grab the title. With the fans holding their breath, the King of the Ring unstraps the belt and holds it in his hands to end the contest.

Winner: By retrieving the belt, and still the WWE United States Champion, Matt Sydal.

Aftermath: The bell rings and “Born to Fly” hits to a massive roar as an emotional Sydal clutches his title in his arms with Shelton fuming under the ladder. The relieved champion then raises the title up in the air to the delight of the fans with Mickie also looking relived for her boyfriend on the outside. He then climbs down a few steps and jumps down the rest to join Mickie and give her a big hug. She holds him tight as Shelton sits up in the ring having pushed the ladder aside. He doesn’t look happy and just stares at Sydal as he backs up the ramp with Mickie and holds his title proudly in the air with the fans still cheering the resilient young champion.

World Heavyweight Championship
Christian w/Tyson Tomko vs. CM Punk © w/Alberto Del Rio-Ramirez vs. Chris Jericho

Closing Minutes:
With Jericho coming round on the canvas, Christian looks to keep his momentum going, pulling Punk up to his feet. Captain Charisma’s focused right now and means business, not taking his eyes off of the World Champion. He fires The Straight Edge Superstar in to the ropes but Punk grabs the top rope and holds on to it. Christian’s not happy about that and charges right at Punk, and the World Champion reacts well to lift him up over his shoulder and down to the floor below. The fans don’t like that as Punk smirks and he takes a look down at one of his challengers. He watches Christian try to get to his feet, but Punk has different ideas.

He runs across the ring, hits the ropes and comes racing back, DIVES THROUGH THE ROPES AND TAKES CAPTAIN CHARISMA DOWN WITH A SUICIDE DIVE!!. . . . . Both men hit the floor and it’s Punk who shows the first signs of movement. He looks in decent shape as he heads back up on to the apron, but out of nowhere JERICHO NAILS HIM WITH A SPRINGBOARD DROPKICK TO SEND PUNK BACK DOWN TO THE FLOOR!!. . . . . Jericho stands up smiling as Del Rio-Ramirez wanders round to check on his mentor while Christian crawls to the apron and pulls himself up and under the bottom rope.

His fellow Canadian is looking smug and is ready to strike, showing no compassion for his fellow countryman. He stomps all over Christian with Tomko watching on awkwardly on the outside as Punk starts to sit up. The relentless Jericho’s ushered away the referee, allowing Christian to try and get back on his feet, spurring Jericho on. The self proclaimed Best in the World runs past Christian in to the ropes and comes back to take him down with a ONE ARM BULLDOG!. . . . . Christian’s head hits the mat and Jericho looks to follow it up, racing back up on to his feet and running in to the ropes, SPRINGBOARDING FOR A LIONSAULT AND GETS IT!!. . . . . Christian’s in trouble as Jericho reaches to the side and hooks his leg for a cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

KICK OUT BY CHRISTIAN!!. . . . . Jericho doesn’t like the look of that as he leans back on to his knees and gives the ref a dirty look, looking disgusted that Christian kicked out. Jericho grudgingly stands back up as Punk climbs up on to the apron, steadying himself with his eyes locked on Jericho, and Jericho doesn’t have a clue. The fans start making some noise, catching the challenger’s attention and he turns round to see Punk SPRINGBOARD AND TAKE HIM DOWN WITH AIR PUNK!!. . . . . The clothesline sends both men down to the mat, but not for long. Jericho misses with a wild right and Punk whips him in to the ropes. Jericho comes back at him and runs right in to a TILT-A-WHIRL BACKBREAKER!!. . . . . Punk hit that perfectly and Jericho’s feeling the effects of that one as the World Champion wastes no time in going for the cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

NO! JERICHO KICKS OUT!!. . . . . Punk doesn’t look all that surprised as he leans back and smirks at the crowd, but as he makes his way back up coolly, Captain Charisma is also getting back up. As they make it to their feet, Punk turns his head and looks shocked to see Christian up and charging at him for a SPEAR AND HE NAILS IT!!!. . . . . CHRISTIAN TAKES PUNK DOWN WITH THE SPEAR!!!. . . . . Punk’s down & out and Christian senses the victory, as do the crowd as he goes for the cover with the ref rushing across the ring to count the fall. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . . 3?

. . . . . NO!!!

Punk just and only just gets his shoulder up, devastating both Captain Charisma and his loyal peeps in the crowd. The World Champion’s barely moving though and Christian’s got that look in his eyes. He jumps back up to his feet and heads to the corner, climbing up to the top rope to a big pop and the gross concern of Punk’s rookie. Del Rio-Ramirez knows his mentor is in trouble and races round to jump up on the apron to distract Christian, and it works. Christian tells him where to go and Tomko comes round to pull the Mexican down off the apron, and the referee doesn’t like what he sees and orders them both away from ringside. There’s a mix of cheers & boos as the angry duo argue away from ringside with Punk sitting up and taking a look at what’s going on.

Christian watches them leave and turns back as Punk quickly plays dead, teasing Christian who comes off the top for a FROG SPLASH!!!. . . . . NO, PUNK LIFTS HIS KNEES UP AND DRIVES THEM RIGHT IN TO CHRISTIAN’S GUT!!. . . . . That has to hurt and it looks like it does as Christian writhes around in pain. Punk sits up with a big smirk on his face, chuckling away at the jeering crowd. He takes great pleasure in seeing Christian in agony and does the somewhat decent thing as he stands up to help Captain Charisma up too. The Straight Edge Superstar’s remorse ends there as he stomps him in the gut and connects with a DOUBLE UNDER-HOOK BACK BREAKER!!. . . . . It’s not getting any easier for Christian as the determined champion hooks the leg and makes the cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

NO! Christian gets his shoulder up and this time Punk isn’t smirking. Punk’s eyes quickly turn to Jericho as he sees his other challenger struggling up to his feet. The focused champion coolly makes his way back up and stalks the Canadian, bringing out a mixed reception in the arena. Jericho doesn’t have a clue what’s waiting for him and Punk doesn’t let him compose himself a second longer and lifts him up off his feet and on to his shoulders for the GTS!!!. . . . . JERICHO’S IN NO MAN’S LAND, OR IS HE?!!. . . . .

The challenger fights it, angering the champion. Jericho fights his way down, swinging his elbow at Punk’s head. Jericho lands on his feet and hammers him with a vicious forearm shot that rattles Punk. Jericho’s looking mean now and turns back in to the ropes, but Punk shoots back in to action and meets him with a FEROCIOUS ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!. . . . . JERICHO JUST FALLS TO THE MAT WITH THE INTENSE CHAMPION DROPPING TO HIS KNEES IMMEDIATELY TO MAKE A COVER. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

NO!!!!

Jericho just & only just gets his shoulder up to break the count, not at all what Punk wanted to see. Again he calmly makes his way back up to his feet and doesn’t take his eyes off of the dazed but stirring Jericho. The Canadian’s toughing it out though and to his credit tries to make it back up. It’s admiral but Punk isn’t amused. He glares at his struggling opponent with dangerous intent in mind, and as Jericho makes it up, Punk’s right on him. He grabs him around the upper torso and stares sadistically in to the crowd. Jericho can’t escape this time and Punk connects with THE ANACONDA VICE!!!. . . . . The hold is locked in and Punk means business, putting Jericho through the mill immediately.

Jericho looks half dead already, like there’s no fight left in him with Punk not holding back. He has Jericho right in the middle of the ring with nowhere to go. The colour on Jericho’s face is draining as Christian starts to sit up. He doesn’t see what’s going on as Jericho lifts his hand up, seemingly considering tapping out. Christian looks round and sees the danger. He dives across the mat and clubs Punk on the back, breaking the hold to a big pop and the relief of Jericho who desperately crawls to the ropes. Punk & Christian attempt to get back up and Christian ducks a right hand from the champion, quickly pulling him in to place and connects with an INVERTED FACELOCK BACK BREAKER!!. . . . . The fans are cheering as Christian turns Punk over and goes for the cover. . . . .

1. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

NO! Punk kicks out, not catching Captain Charisma by surprise that much. The challenger takes a few seconds to compose himself and take a breather before standing back up. Punk too sits up and this time he is the one being stalked as Christian lifts both his hands up, looking like he’s getting ready for the KILLSWITCH!!!. . . . . The fans cheer as Punk unwittingly gets back up and turns in to his opponent’s path and a kick to the gut. Christian grabs the champion by the arms and tries to spin him round, but no! Punk counters and shoves him forward in to the corner pads. Christian puts the brakes on though and turns round. Punk’s not happy by that and runs right at him and in to a raised boot from the Canadian.

A pop breaks out in the stands as Christian grabs him by the head. Punk panics and swings his arm round, knocking the ref down while Christian explodes to drill Punk with an INVERTED DDT OFF THE SECOND ROPE!!!. . . . . Punk’s lights are out, but so are the ref’s and Christian doesn’t have a clue. He turns Punk over again to make a cover, then sees there’s no one there to make the count. He looks gutted to see the ref down and goes to help him, trying to shake him back to life when a chorus of boos rings out around the arena. Christian doesn’t know what’s going on and turns round to see EDGE CHARGE AT HIM AND SPEAR HIM OUT OF HIS BOOTS!!!. . . . .

Edge stares down with no remorse whatsoever, sn-iggering at the sight of Christian flat on his back. A huge cheer breaks out though, surprising the hell out of The Rated-R Superstar. He turns round and there’s John Cena sliding under the bottom race at speed. The fans are going nuts as Cena flies up to his feet and ducks a right hand to run through in to the ropes. Cena comes flying back off the ropes and sends Edge down courtesy of a flying shoulder tackle. It’s deafening in the Wachovia Center as Cena & Edge pick themselves up with Cena lifting Edge up on to his shoulders to plant him with the F-U!!!. . . . . Edge rolls under the bottom rope and on to the floor as Jericho looks shocked as he stands up to see Cena standing there staring right back at him. Jericho looks furious and runs right at Cena, right in to a kick to the gut and another F-U!!!. . . . .

Cena leans forward and waves his hand at the out cold Jericho, but as he stands up, Punk sneaks up behind him and takes him by surprise, lifting him up on to his shoulders and nailing him with the GTS!!!. . . . . Boos ring out as Punk smirks down at the fallen Cena and kicks him over to the apron and down to the floor. The World Champion turns round to a ton of heat to see Christian and the referee struggling to make it back up. The smug champion walks over to Christian and gives him a helping hand up off the mat and in to place for the GTS!!!. . . . . More boos ring out as Punk smirks at the crowd and then sends Christian’s head crashing in to his knee and down to the mat. It’s deafening in the arena as Punk coolly shimmies forward and makes the cover with the drowsy referee slowly crawling across to count the fall. . . . .

1. . . . .

. . . . .

2. . . . .

. . . . .

. . . . . 3!

IT’S OVER!!!

Winner: By pinfall, and still the World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk.

Aftermath: “This Fire Burns” plays with the fans continuing to boo as the smug champion rises to his feet with a big smile on his face. Del Rio-Ramirez heads back down the ramp and applauds his mentor. The Mexican walks round the ring to collect the World Championship and heads in to the ring. As Edge & Cena come round on the outside, Del Rio-Ramirez straps the title around his mentor’s waist and then raises his hand in victory to even more heat. Punk walks over to the apron and throws his arms up in the air in front of the unimpressed Cena.

Jericho lifts his head up not looking too sure of what’s happened, and the same goes for the angry Edge. Punk heads to the corner and poses for the jeering crowd while Del Rio continues to applaud him. The Straight-Edge Superstar then steps down, cocky as hell as he leaves the ring with is rookie. They turn round on the ramp and looks back to see Jericho & Cena glaring back at them as the show comes to a close with Punk & Del Rio-Ramirez smiling without a care in the world.

>Punks Retains in Title Chaos!<

In what was a chaotic show earlier this evening, CM Punk emerged from the main event still the World Heavyweight Champion after a controversial end to the triple threat championship match.

The Straight-Edge Superstar overcame Christian & Chris Jericho to retain the title after interference from both Edge & John Cena, and now at Survivor Series we will see Punk lead a team to go up against a team put together by Cena with a potential World Championship match waiting in the wings at Night of Champions if Cena can lead his team to victory.

It was Edge however that stunned everyone and started the chaos, storming the ring and spearing Christian just when it looked like Captain Charisma was on verge of defeating Punk to win his first world title. We saw earlier in the show that there was still plenty of tension in the air between the two siblings who met at SummerSlam when Christian came out on top, and The Rated-R Superstar wasn’t about to sit back and watch his younger brother eclipse him. In turn that led to Cena levelling the play field, angering Jericho who quickly ended up on the receiving end of an F-U. Fortunately for Punk, he was up & running before Cena could get to him and made sure he didn’t, catching him with the Go To Sleep before finishing the job.

Battle lines have been drawn already as we hit the road to Survivor Series, and with all the chaos we saw this evening, you have to wonder what’s going to happen this week on Smackdown and if it has any effect on the Survivor Series.

Monday Night Raw Preview
Monday 6th October 2008
Live from the Von Braun Center
Huntsville, Alabama

>The Dead-Man is Coming. . . Back!<

Tonight will mark the return to Raw of one of the biggest names in sports entertainment history when The Undertaker appears live from Huntsville, Alabama. It was confirmed after his shock appearance last week at the conclusion of the show which saw Ted DiBiase & Ezekiel Jackson doing a number on Kofi Kingston. The duo were more shocked than anyone to see the phenom appear out of nowhere to leave them both flat on their backs as Raw drew to a close. You have to ask why DiBiase and is this a sign of things to come from the Raw roster now arguably the most feared superstar of all time is headed back to Monday nights?

One man who may well be smelling fear right now is the WWE Champion, Batista with the sharks circling the water, hungry to tear away his WWE title at Survivor Series. Eric Bischoff reluctantly made the announcement when it looked like we were about to witness chaos that The Animal will have to defend his title against both Randy Orton & Triple H in just under six weeks in a triple threat match. The Game may well be happy to let his marriage to Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley fall by the wayside but now he has what he wants, a shot at the title and The Animal. The Viper will be licking his lips at the prospect of taking back the title he’s tried to ever since losing it at WrestleMania. Are Batista’s days as champion numbered?

We’ll see Melina defend her title this week when she takes on Brie Bella, and after being accused by Mia Rain last Monday night of being an invisible champion, maybe the Women’s Champion will be out to prove a point in Huntsville.

The World Tag Team titles may not be up for grabs this week but by the end of the night one team will be just one match away from the gold when two of the remaining four teams in the hunt collide when the team of JTG and his rookie, Homicide take on the undefeated duo of Christopher Daniels & Kaval. JTG & Homicide warmed up with a win last week over another mentor/rookie combination of Cody Rhodes & Joe Hennig. They looked impressive and their opponents for this week came out to take a closer look. Can Daniels & Kaval keep their impressive undefeated record going or will the boys from the Bronx make it two in two?

The winners of that match will go on to face the winners of next week’s contest between Matt Hardy & Gregory Helms and Rey Mysterio & Mystico. It was the Mexican duo that won the final spot in the last four week in a match that saw Shane McMahon suffer a nasty injury after being chokeslammed through the announce table by The Big Show. We’re hearing that there will be an announcement tonight on Shane’s condition. Also, Hardy & Helms will be able to get an idea of what they’ll be up against next Monday night when their buddy, Shannon Moore goes one on one with Mystico, Rey’s rookie this week. What we’ve seen of Mystico so far, you can guarantee there’s not going to be any lack of entertaining action.

If you didn’t catch No Mercy last night, you won’t have seen The Miz walk away from a potential fight with Shawn Michaels. It’d be an understatement to say those two have had their problems in recent weeks, and last Monday we saw The Heartbreak Kid ensure Miz and his rookie, Heath Slater would miss out on a shot at tag team glory. However Mr. Hollywood and his protégé will be in action tonight when they take on the team of Kofi Kingston & John Morrison in what will be a very difficult match indeed for The Miz & Slater. Life certainly won’t be getting any easier for The Miz anytime soon.

It also appears that one man who isn’t afraid of our new Intercontinental Champion, Sheamus is Carlito. After spitting in the Irishman’s face the week before, last Monday he was called out by the dominant & undefeated Celtic Warrior. Carlito openly mocked Sheamus’s pale complexion and even appeared to set a trap for him, a trap that he fell in to when Carlito’s brother, Eddie Colon jumped the Irishman having been attacked by him several weeks earlier, resulting in Carlito spitting in Sheamus’s face two weeks ago. It came as no surprise that Sheamus was furious and the Intercontinental Champion chased them out of the arena, only narrowly missing them as they sped out of the parking lot leaving the furious Irishman in their tracks. Will he be after them this week, and if so, will he be able to catch up with the Puerto Rican siblings this time?

In what promises to be a huge edition of Raw this week, make sure you tune in to see the return of The Undertaker and a whole lot more!
