Default Extreme Championship Wrestling 2001- Civil War, Fighting a Revolution, and Mediocrity

I've been very fond of ECW for the longest time, and always wanted to pull it off. I give props to both Jae and Orry for helping get behind me in terms of motivation and inspiration for this. I have a storyline I've been hooked on doing, and I'm tinkering with a style that will make life a bit easier for me when it comes time to write the matches. So eh, let's rock and roll. All in all, I simply just want to sit back and enjoy booking and writing again, something I haven't done for a long time now. I don't care if I don't update frequently, and I'm okay if everything isn't always top quality. I want to enjoy myself with my booking and writing, and I want to entertain the readers who read it, with well, my booking and writing. Oh, and props to Jae again, for the wicked banner.

Extreme Championship Wrestling 2001- I Don’t Need A Fuckin’ Subtitle

Extreme Championship Wrestling will always be remembered as the promotion that truly brought on the ‘Attitude Era’ to professional wrestling, and the company that truly changed wrestling forever. The revolution started back in August 27, 1994, when ‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas threw down the NWA World Heavyweight Championship that he had just won in a tournament, and declared himself the Extreme Championship Wrestling World Champion. It was the moment that kick started ECW, and technically was the birth of Extreme Championship Wrestling. The company was originally called Eastern Championship Wrestling, and was also where the revolution first started. But when Paul Heyman devised the plan that Shane Douglas executed, the revolution was in full swing.

For the next 5+ years, Extreme Championship Wrestling became part of the “Big Three”, and rapidly grew from a small regional independent promotion to one with a large cult-like following, and even broke onto the national platform on April 13, 1997, with their first ever pay per view, Barely Legal. However, with a growing and aspiring revolution, came casualties. ECW was a hotbed for talented individuals, such as Shane Douglas, Taz, Sabu, Sandman, Rob Van Dam, Jerry Lynn, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Rey Misterio, Chris Jericho, the Dudley Boyz, Public Enemy, Raven, and many, many more. And most of these men were signed away from ECW, to either WCW or the WWF. The ECW roster would go from stacked and deep, to thin and lacking in depth over night. The higher-power stars like Douglas, Raven, Taz, and the Dudley Boyz were signed away. The technical stars of Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Eddy Guerrero, and Chris Jericho, were swept away by WCW. The lucha libre stars of Misterio, Juventud Guerrera, and Psicosis, stolen by WCW.

It was a long road for Paul Heyman and ECW, despite the loud uproar ECW had created. As the company grew more and more outward from its home of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the talent left, and money became thin, very thin. Heyman owed thousands of dollars to talent, and the company was quickly going into debt. This only led to the roster getting even more thing, as stars fled to promotions where they could be paid. By January 7, 2001, the roster was limited to stars such as Rob Van Dam, Jerry Lynn, Tommy Dreamer, Justin Credible, Steve Corino, and Rhino. They were the only marketable talent left for ECW. January 7 marked the last show for ECW, Guilty as Charged, on PPV. The company officially closed its doors on April 4, 2001, declaring bankruptcy. Just like that, the revolution that Paul Heyman had created, had ended.

Attempts to capture ECW’s revolution with promotions such as CZW, XPW, MLW, and 3PW all failed to do so, and ECW actually returned for a ‘One Night Stand’ PPV held by the WWE, on June 12, 2005. A second ‘One Night Stand’ PPV was held on June 11, 2006, and from there, the ECW brand was reignited by Vince McMahon, on the Sci-Fi network. To say the least, this new ECW was not the same company that had created this revolution that swept professional wrestling by storm. It was nothing short of a mockery. While technically, ECW was alive, it died that fateful night of January 7, 2001.

But how about we alter reality a bit, aye? Let’s swirl our magical time clocks back to the year 2001. Yes, ECW was in terrible financial troubles, and would have needed a financial backer to realistically stay alive, and allow Paul Heyman the funds needed to pay off the money he owed to his talents, and get the chance to get back on national television. So hey, here’s what we are going to do, folks. Guilty as Charged was the last ECW show, of January. After taking the rest of the month off to sort out the status quo of the company, Paul Heyman found himself a financial backer, one that will remain anonymous, and kept the company alive. Now with only a syndicated television show, Hardcore TV, ECW will continue to live on in 2001. But the question is, how long can Paul Heyman keep ECW alive, even with the funds of a financial backer?

I guess you’ll just have to read to find out…

Joey and Joel do the standard funny opening. They introduce Joey Matthews and Christian York who are immediately attacked by Da Baldies who lay them out in the ring. Cyrus and Jerry Lynn came out to start the match.

Joey Matthews and Christian York vs. Cyrus and Jerry Lynn
When Matthews and York finally got the advantage, Da Baldies came in and attacked them. Lynn then came in the ring and hit a cradle piledriver on Matthews. Lynn tagged in Cyrus who got the pin. After the match, Cyrus and Lynn 'pay' Da Baldies with cigars for their help. Lynn said he won't be wrestling in ECW anymore unless he is in the main event.
Winners: Jerry Lynn and Cyrus by pinfall

ECW Tag Team Title Match: Hot Commodity vs. Danny Doring and Roadkill ©
Good spot came when Doring used Money as a step and hit a suicide dive on Dinero. Roadkill goes after Elektra on the outside. EZ Money hit a nice springboard bulldog for a 2 count. When Doring tried for a tornado DDT, Money reversed it into the EZ Bomb. but only got a 2 count. Roadkill got the hot tag and cleaned house after a springboard double clothesline. When Hamrick tried to interfere, it backfired which enabled Doring to hit the Buggy Bang for the win. After the match, a new look Nova (with new music to boot) came out and helped Doring and Roadkill get rid of Hot Commodity, which led to the next match.
Winners: Danny Doring and Roadkill by pinfall

Nova vs. Chris Hamrick
Hamrick gained the early advantage after a tornado DDT. Awesome spot came when Nova delivered a top rope hurricanrana to Hamrick, while both guys were standing on the top rope. Elektra tried to get involved by jumping on Nova's back, but he brushed her aside. While all of this was going on, the referee got knocked out, so out came a returning Chris Chetti wearing a referee's shirt and then another referee came out and they both called for the bell. Spike Dudley then came out and he hit an Acid Drop on Chetti, and nova hit the Swanton Bomb. Nova then hit the Kryptonite Krunch on Hamrick while Spike counted the pin.
Winner: Nova by pinfall

Backstage, Steve Corino said he would tonight not only remain the champion, but he would reclaim his title.

I Quit Match: C.W. Anderson vs. Tommy Dreamer
Very brutal match, with most of it fought outside the ring. Dreamer applied the Dragon Sleeper early on but C.W escaped it. Both wrestlers used a variety of weapons including a wrench, chairs and the ring bell. C.W was working over dreamer's leg with a steel chair, before he smashed Dreamer on the head with it several times. Dreamer gets a hold of razor wire and cookie sheets from the Towel Boy. C.W went on the offense and hit a spinebuster on the razor wire and applied an arm bar submission, but Dreamer made it to the ropes. C.W went for a table and set it up in the ring. He went for a vertical suplex through it, but Dreamer reversed it into a Spicolli Driver off the top rope through the table. He wrapped the plastic frame around C.W's head and he quit.
Winner: Tommy Dreamer by submission

Backstage, Steve Corino was trying to hit on Francine. Justin Credible and Missy Hyatt came out of the bathroom. Francine said until he wins back the belt, she isn't doing anything.

#1 Contender's Match for the ECW Tag Team titles: F.B.I vs. Kid Kash and Super Crazy vs. Unholy Alliance
Lots of spots in this match. Kid Kash hit a few nice high flying moves including his mid air hurricanrana. Tajiri used his stiff kicks to his advantage. Kash and Crazy were eliminated after Big Sal came in the ring and gave Kash big splash and Kash and Crazy were then eliminated after the pin by Tony Mamaluke.
The F.B.I hit a nice double team top rope powerbomb on Mikey but were unable to get the pin. Mikey came back with the Whippersnapper. Tajiri then spit the green mist in Mamaluke's eyes and both members of Unholy Alliance hit a Tiger suplex for the win.
Winners: The Unholy Alliance by pinfall

Backstage, The Sandman said he would come out on top for tonight's Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Canes match.

Simon Diamond and Swinger vs. Balls Mahoney and Chilly Willy
Swinger announced he hired Blue Boy for the night. He came out with Jasmine St. Claire. Blue Boy attacked Mahoney then went away. Balls came in and nailed blue Boy with a chair. Rhino then came out and gored Balls, as well Simon and Swinger and even Dawn Marie. Chilly Willy tried to fight off Rhino but he gored him as well. Blue Boy was next to be gored. Jasmine came in the ring to check on Blue Boy and Rhino picked her up and hit a piledriver off the top rope.
Winner: No Contest

Backstage, Rhino said the violence has only begun.

Tables, Ladders, Chairs, and Canes ECW Heavyweight Title Match: Steve Corino © vs. Justin Credible vs. The Sandman
As the match describes, no shortage of tables, ladders, chairs or canes in this match. At one point, Credible threw Sandman over the top rope through a table on the outside. Sandman got a measure of revenge by throwing Credible through a table of his own outside the ring. When Corino looked to have retrieved the belt, Credible hit a top rope dropkick to the ladder which made Corino fall down. Credible hit That's Incredible on Corino, while Francine hit a hurricanrana on the Sandman. When Corino and Credible are climbing the ladder, someone raised the belt higher. Credible then hit a DDT off the ladder though a table on Corino, and while those two were down, the Sandman climbed the ladder retrieved the belt.
Winner and new ECW Heavyweight Champion: Sandman

After the match, all 3 guys shake hands, and attacked Da Baldies who came out.

Rhino came out and challenged the Sandman to a ECW Heavyweight Title Match.

ECW Heavyweight Title Match: Sandman © vs. Rhino
Rhino gored the Sandman through a table early on but he kicked out at 2. He then gave him a top rope DDT through another table. Rhino then hit a piledriver on a bit of table for the win.
Winner and new ECW Heavyweight Champion: Rhino by pinfall

Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn
Awesome match, the best of the night. There were lots of high spots which is just too damn hard to transcribe. Lots of high flying counters by RVD. Lynn almost had the win after an inverted DDT followed by a German suplex. He also hit a DDT on a chair but to no avail. RVD tried a 5 Star Frog Splash but Lynn moved. Cyrus came in the ring but Gertner came in and DDT'ed Cyrus. The end came when RVD gave Lynn both the Van Daminator and Van Terminator for the win.
Winner: Rob Van Dam by pinfall

After the match, Gertner and RVD played to the crowd.

Backstage, it looked like the Impact Players have reformed with Francine to include Corino, Credible and Jack Victory.
End of show.....
The revolution is ongoing forever more, ladies and gentleman, or at least, until the backer’s money runs dry. So **** me, as ECW lives on, in 2001.
The GAC review is from theotherarena.

~Despite many reports and rumors that the PPV ECW held on January 7, Guilty as Charged, would be their last show, it can now be confirmed those reports to be false. Despite being in serious financial trouble for the past few years now, ECW owner Paul Heyman has reportedly found a financial backer to well, back the company financially. No one has been able to get a leak on any information about the financial backer. Whether the backer is a group, or person, remains to be a mystery. And that is what it’s looking to stay as, a mystery.

~Don’t look for ECW’s Hardcore TV to be staying on syndication much longer. Paul Heyman has openly stated that ECW must get back on national television to stay alive, and that will be his goal throughout 2001, getting a new television deal. Reported networks that Heyman is either interested in working with, or networks interested in ECW, are: Comcast, E!, HBO, MTV, Showtime, UPN, and the USA Network. For ECW, the main selling point for them will be which networks will pay for their production cost, and which will not. More on this as it occurs.

~With the financial backer now supplying ECW with reportedly over $4 million dollars as a starting point, the main goal of Heyman and his backers have been to work on paying back the wrestlers and staff that Heyman has owed the most money to, namely ECW’s top star, Rob Van Dam. Van Dam is owed roughly one-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. The other two men owed the most are longtime members of the company, Tommy Dreamer and Joey Styles. All three men have reportedly been paid all owed assets.

~Despite wrestlers getting their paychecks all paid, finally, wrestlers are still rumored to be exploring other options. World Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation both are reported to be interested in a number of ECW wrestlers, including, but not just, Rob Van Dam, Jerry Lynn, Steve Corino, Rhino, Super Crazy, Guido Maritato, Yoshihiro Tajiri, and even Joey Styles and Joel Gertner.

~With the chance of current ECW wrestlers heading for higher pastures, ECW is reported to be looking at bringing back veterans of Extreme Championship Wrestling, as well as some of the up and coming independent talent. Men such as Juventud Guerrera, New Jack, the Pitbulls, Psicosis, Public Enemy, Sabu, and Scorpio. Independent talent includes up and comers such as the Amazing Red, Boogalou and Homicide, Danny Dominion, Donovan Morgan, Michael Modest, Michael Shane, Scoot Andrews, and Xavier. While those names are just options, two men who are expected to start taking bookings with ECW are the 2001 ECWA Super 8 Winner, Low-Ki, and the third generation superstar, Teddy Hart. Both men are seen as great talents, and could definitely have a great future in wrestling.

~As of right now, Paul Heyman is continuing to stress how much of an importance it is that ECW gets away from syndicated television, and get back on national television. The basic view point at this point in time in the ECW locker room is: If ECW does not get back on national television by the end of April, ECW will be a dead fish. Many fear that if ECW continues on syndicated TV, wrestlers will walk, and more importantly, so will the financial backer. ECW has narrowed down its candidates of suitors; MTV, HBO, and the USA Network. Heyman will have meetings with them all immediately. Heyman will first be meeting with MTV, but many critics do not believe that ECW will be able to land a deal with MTV. For those who aren’t aware, MTV is the current host of Sunday Night Heat, the ‘B’ show of the World Wrestling Federation. Despite this, Heyman insists to try and talk to them about getting a TV deal; only time will tell what happens there. It seems that ECW's main target is the USA Network, followed by MTV. HBO is mothing more than an alternative to the other two networks; HBO would generate the lowest ratings of the three, but would allow the least restrictions. But nonetheless, Heyman's top network is the USA Network.

Default Re: Extreme Championship Wrestling 2001- I Don't Need A Fuckin' Subtitle

ECW Hardcore TV- 02-02

To start the show, Cyrus comes down to the ring with Jerry Lynn and Rhino. Cyrus gleefully hypes up Rhino’s dominance and destruction at Guilty as Charged, and that he is now both the ECW World and TV Champion. Rhino yells and screams a bit about killing everyone in ECW, with Cyrus concluding that everyone should fear the Man Beast, especially after the carnage he wreaked on that drunken piece of shit, Sandman. The promo then turns towards Cyrus and Jerry Lynn. Lynn rants and raves about getting dicked over in the main event at Guilty as Charged. Lynn declares he is a main eventer, former World Champ, and not some enhancement talent, or jobber to RVD. Lynn demands a re-match with RVD at Cyberslam, and the chance to beat RVD one-on-one again. Cyrus is irate that his boy Lynn was once again screwed by the politics in the company, and that it is a disgrace that fat pieces of perverted shit such as Joel Gertner are allowed to run around ECW, and help stoners like RVD defeat Jerry Lynn. Cyrus demands that Gertner be terminated from ECW, and rot with the other pieces of shit on the street like the other troglodytes. The show goes to break, with Cyrus and Lynn promising it isn’t over with Rob Van Dam, and he will defeat him.

The first match of the show is a tag team match; Nova & Spike Dudley vs. Chris Hamrick & EZ Money. Nova and Spike fly together, while the Hot Commodity duo have Julio Dinero and Elektra in their corner. The heels use their numbers advantage, which leads to continuous outside interference from Julio Dinero and Elektra, but in the end, Dinero accidentally hits EZ Money with his Jalapeno Popper kick instead of Nova. This allows Nova to dispose of Dinero with the Novacaine, while Spike hits Hamrick with the Acid Drop. Spike makes sure Elektra can’t interfere, and the Kryptonite Krunch from Nova finishes off EZ Money. After the match though, Hot Commodity immediately jump Spike Dudley and Nova. The faces start a comeback, but Chris Chetti (and Lou E. Dangerously) come out from the back and beat down on Nova. Nova ends up falling to the Amityville Horror, and Spike the Confederate Crunch from Hamrick. Star Rating- *

CW Anderson then comes out to the ring, and starts to cut a promo on Tommy Dreamer. CW says that Dreamer had a lot of fucking guts, and for that, Anderson respects him. He beat the shit out of Dreamer at Guilty As Charged, but he never tapped out. Anderson did, and Dreamer was the better man. Anderson respects Dreamer, and admits to Dreamer to being the better man, but only on that night! Anderson refuses to believe that Tommy Dreamer is better than CW Anderson. Anderson challenges Dreamer to another match, bringing out Dreamer. Tommy says he’s never backed down from a match, or a fight, and that’s why next week, it’s on! Anderson’s happy, while Dreamer says they can wrestle next week, but for now, they can just fight! The two brawl, with Dreamer ending up hitting CW with the Spicolli Driver. Dreamer goes to the outside and gets the strand of barbed wire. Dreamer tries to Dreamer DDT Anderson on it, but CW low blows Dreamer and hits the Anderson Spinebuster on the barbed wire! Anderson leaves the ring, a smirk on his face, while Dreamer is left to pry barbed wire out of his back.

Blue Boy comes out next, without Jasmine St. Claire, and bitches about Rhino damn near breaking her neck when he gave her a super Piledriver at Guilty As Charged. Blue Boy may not be the best wrestler in the world, let alone in ECW, but he demands a match with Rhino right now, so he can kick his ass for hurting his girlfriend. Rhino comes out, and an impromptu match, with the TV Title on the line, begins. Rhino makes short work of Blue Boy, hitting a quick GORE, and then a Piledriver off the apron through a table. Rhino rolls the lifeless Meanie in, pins, and Rhino wins. Right after the match, Sandman comes down to the ring through the crowd and Canes the holy hell out of Rhino, and then hits him with the White Russian Leg Sweep. As Sandman celebrates, Steve Corino comes out with Jack Victory, and attacks Sandman, leading into the main event. Star Rating- DUD

Sandman vs. Steve Corino (w/Jack Victory)- Rhino was escorted to the back by Jerry Lynn and Da Baldies at the start of the match, allowing Sandman and Corino to have their match. Both men almost score the victory after hitting their finishers, but Rhino storms back down to the ring, and takes both men out with a GORE~!. Piledriver’s to both men ends the show, with Rhino standing tall, hitting his hand off his chest like a wild man. Star Rating- **

--------------------------------------------------------------

ECW Hardcore TV- 02-09

To start the show, we get a hot match; CW Anderson vs. Tommy Dreamer. The match is a pure and total brawl and hardcore fest. Anderson suplexes Dreamer onto a trash can, while Dreamer gives Anderson a bulldog on the lid. Barbed wire comes into play at the end; Dreamer lifts Anderson onto his shoulders for a Spicolli Driver onto the barbed wire, but Anderson slides down Dreamer’s back and school boys him. With a hold of the tights to boot, Anderson gets the cheap victory. After the match though, Dreamer attacks the ruddy hell out of Anderson, hitting him with a Spicolli Driver, and then raking the barbed wire across Anderson’s forehead until he is a bloody mess. Once CW’s face is a crimson mask, Dreamer leaves the ring, bringing the bloody barbed wire with him. Star Rating- ** ¾

Lou E. Dangerously and Chris Chetti come out to the ring, with Chetti dressed in street clothes. Dangerously heavily hypes that Chetti is back in ECW, and is here to stay. Despite admitting to losing to Nova in the Loser Leaves Town match, Chetti did just that. He left town. He left Chicago, Illinois, and he will never wrestle there again. Dangerously explains that while when the challenge was made, it was said the loser would leave ECW, the contract clearly stated it was a Loser Leaves Town match. Fair enough. However, as Lou tells us, that doesn’t deny him access to be at any other ECW event, nor wrestle in any said match. ECW didn’t read the fine print, they just made assumptions, proving just how poorly run the company is, and how much of a shit hole the company is. Chetti says that he has unfinished business with Nova, and now Spike Dudley. But it seems that many people hate Nova and Spike, like Hot Commodity. Lou E says that the two have formed an alliance of sorts with the group, and that they’ve got themselves a match for Cyberslam; Chris Chetti will team up Hot Commodity against Nova, Spike Dudley, and any two partners they can find in ECW. To end the promo, Chetti promises to break Nova’s back, his neck, and most of all, his career, at Cyberslam.

The New Impact Players come out to the ring next, and Corino immediately says that he is glad that tonight he finally has the chance to do what he wants, and say what he wants, without having to worry about a maniac like Rhino or Sandman attacking him because thankfully, the two have other commitments to fulfill. Corino says that he is the rightful ECW World Champion. He won it fair and square at November 2 Remember, but Sandman stole the Title from him, literally and figuratively, only to fuck up and lose it to Rhino moments later. He’s lost his chance at a re-match now, and that his whole situation is fucked. Justin Credible, fresh off of failing to feel up Francine while Corino was talking, steps in and calms him down, saying that he’s still got the Impact Players, and that together, they can accomplish anything and everything in ECW. They are the greatest talent ECW has to offer, and that they are the embodiment of extreme. Men like Terry Funk, Sabu, Cactus Jack, and New Jack, are nothing but pussies, and sell-outs. None of them are here in ECW, because they sold out to a better place when they discovered that Credible and Corino were the real fucking deal. Corino agrees, and says that anyone can dive off of a balcony, and that anyone can drink beer and wield a Singapore Cane, and anyone can attack someone from behind and hit them with a Piledriver, but when it comes time, the Impact Players will get it done! As the promo is about to wrap up, “Natural Born Killaz” plays, and New Jack makes his return to ECW! New Jack runs down to the ring (wielding a guitar in one hand, and a cookie sheet in the other) as his music continues to play, and Jack beats the holy shit out of Corino and Credible with the cookie sheet, while Victory and Francine run off. Corino ends up taking a power bomb, and Credible gets the guitar broken over his head to end the segment.

In the ‘main event’ match, Danny Doring (w/Roadkill) takes on Tajiri (w/Minster & Whipwreck), in a hype match for Cyberslam. The match is back and forth, with both men putting on a great match. Late in the match, Danny Doring is about to Wham, Bam, Thank You Ma’am, but Mikey Whipwreck jumps into the ring and hits a springboard dropkick from the third rope to Doring. Whipwreck quickly rolls out of the ring and is attacked by Roadkill, but the damage done is enough for Tajiri to score with the Kick of Death for the victory. After the match, Doring and Roadkill brawl with the Unholy Alliance, their opponents for Cyberslam. Star Rating- **¼

In the final segment of the show, Rob Van Dam comes out to the ring next, and apologizes to the fans for not being at the show last week. RVD explains that he was backstage, ready for the chance to address himself and his future plans in ECW, but it turns out, Bill Alfonso bailed on him, and RVD had to find out what the fuck was going on. Well screw Fonzie, he’s fucking left ECW, header for greener pastures down south like a coward. RVD tells Fonzie to fuck off, and that he wasn’t there for him at Guilty as Charged, and he did just fine without him, so he will do just fine now. RVD also mentions that WCW is a piece of shit, and you’d never see RVD go to WCW. Cyrus and Jerry Lynn come out soon after, and Cyrus brings up the fact that poor RVD has no back up now, while Lynn gets right to the point and challenges RVD to one more match at Cyberslam, stating he knows he is better than RVD, and he can fucking prove it. RVD accepts, and says that after that, he is done with Lynn; he’s got bigger fish to fry, a master plan that is going to take him right to the top, and go through all of Cyrus’ boys so he is a top dog. Cyrus says that’s all fine and great, but that he is no match for Lynn or Rhino, both men could kick RVD’s ass right away. However, Rhino will not be the one kicking his ass tonight; instead it will be Jerry Lynn and Cyrus. However, Joel Gertner comes out to the ring and interrupts the proceedings, cutting one of his trademark promos that went along like this; Joel ‘while Bill Alfonso ran like a wussy, Gertner’s still nailing the pussy, Gertner will take a break from jumping in the sack, and have RVD’s back’ Gertner! Cyrus says that Gertner pledging his allegiance to RVD will only entrust that his fat perverted ass is run out of ECW sooner, rather than later. Cyrus says he is sick of talking, and tells RVD and Gertner that it is time the picture gets really clear. With that, Lynn attacks RVD, and Da Baldies, paid off by Cyrus, run out from the back to aide Cyrus. RVD and Lynn brawl, but RVD gets the upper hand, and is able to fend off all three guys, but eventually, Lynn scores with a drop kick, and Lynn, Da Baldies, and Cyrus start to beat down on RVD and Gertner. However, Christian York and Joey Matthews come out, and hit stereo dropkicks on Da Baldies, knocking them from the ring. The distraction allows RVD to hit Lynn with the chair-assisted Van Daminator (brought in by Lynn), and a step over wheel kick to Cyrus, followed by a Gertner right hand, and to end it, a 5 Star to Cyrus. To end the show, RVD and Gertner stand tall.

I'll put a thing of news up later, and then the other two recapped syndicated shows. From there, I have to type a recapped Cyberslam, and from there, the BTB will truly begin. If you want to leave a few simple comments on these, or the BTB in general, go for it. I'd appreciate it.

Ah.

Seeing as I gave you permission for this thread, I expect nothing short of spectacular shows, week in week out.

Otherwise, I may cry.

Jokes, good luck with this Szumi.

MTV and Viacom Inc. did not want to to pick up another wrestling company on its TV Networks. However, Heyman had a meeting just yesterday with NBC Universal Inc. It appears that the NBC based company is much more willing than the CBS based company, as it can already be announced that Extreme Championship Wrestling has signed a television deal with NBC Universal Inc., and mainly, the USA Network. Normally, the company wouldn't go on national TV for around 2 months, but because of Heyman's dire need to get on national TV, ECW will start in just two weeks! Every Friday, starting March 2nd, ECW will air Extreme TV (as opposed to its former Hardcore TV), from 10PM to 11PM EST. This is, well, huge news for Heyman and ECW, and this could be a big turning point for a company that has been floundering.

~Rob Van Dam is on great terms with Paul Heyman and ECW once again thanks to the funding of the financial backer. RVD was booked for an angle at a recently taped syndicated Hardcore TV show (which aired on February 2nd), but never did appear. This is not because of problems between ECW and Van Dam, but ECW and RVD’s manager, Bill Alfonso. Alfonso no-showed the taping for the show, and was supposed to play an integral part of the angle scheduled for RVD. Shortly after the show was taped, it was announced that Bill Alfonso had signed with the WCW, and had decided to cut all ties with ECW immediately. It has been reported that Alfonso was given the chance to fulfill all of his commitments to ECW, but Alfonso chose differently, and left right away. While this isn’t seen as a blow on-screen for ECW, it must be looked at as one off-screen. Alfonso was a well-liked individual backstage, and if a manager like “Fonzie” is getting the call to leave ECW, anyone could be next. For those who don’t want to leave, obviously, this is demoralizing. Both WWF and WCW are interested in ECW superstars, with Rob Van Dam being heavily pursued by both companies. However, RVD is having none of it, as it appears the walk of Fonzie (and getting paid the shit load of money) has sparked a flare in Van Dam, and with that said, Rob Van Dam has signed a one year exclusive deal with ECW. With ECW ready to go to National TV again, it seems Heyman is heavily interested in trying to secure his top stars to exclusive deals, so as not to be screwed over by the bigger two companies, again.

~When Chris Chetti lost to Nova in a ‘Loser Leaves Town’ match at November 2 Remember in 2000, it was expected to be the end of Chetti's run in ECW. Chetti was rumored to sign a developmental contract with the WWF, but when that fell through, Heyman welcomed Chetti back to ECW, and it now is looking like the feud between Nova and Chris Chetti will continue in some way over the next few months.

~Paul Heyman continues to be very high on the current independent wrestler, Low-Ki. Low-Ki has been making a name for himself throughout America in the past year, as well as Japan. Low-Ki is currently a heavy favorite to win the 2001 ECWA Super 8 Cup. For those who are wondering, the Super 8 Cup will take place February 24, the day before ECW’s end of the month show, Cyberslam. Depending on Low-Ki’s success at the Super 8 Tournament, he could very well land himself a spot on the Cyberslam card in some fashion.

~While Low-Ki possibly may work for ECW in the near future, it has been reported that a former ECW star will be working for ECW in the very near future. Whoever this wrestler is, is expected to show up and appear at one of the syndicated tapings, and be a fulltime member of the ECW roster once again. Rumors have been making the rounds as to who the wrestler may be, but at this current juncture, it is not known just who this mystery wrestler will be.

ECW Hardcore TV- 02-16

To start the show, it’s The Impact Players (w/Francine & Jack Victory) versus New Jack & Sandman. The finish to this match comes when Corino and Sandman are left alone in the ring, after New Jack and Credible brawl up the entrance aisle; New Jack ends up hitting a Diving Headbutt from off the top of the entrance set through a table to Credible. In the ring, Sandman tries to White Russian Leg Sweep Corino, but a mule kick scores, and Corino is able to put Sandman away with the Old School Expulsion. After the match, Rhino comes out from the back and attacks both Corino and Sandman. Corino was ready this time, and puts up a fight, but eventually falls to the GORE~! A groggy Sandman gets to his feet, and he walks right into the GORE as well. Rhino ends up standing tall, once again. Star Rating- * ½

In a pre-taped segment, Danny Doring and Roadkill are backstage, cutting a promo. Doring does all the talking, saying that last week, Tajiri may have gotten the win over him, but at Cyberslam, Roadkill’s going to be able to get into the ring too. No quick cheap attacks like that stunt Whipwreck pulled last week. At Cyberslam, it is a battle of four men, two tag teams. Doring & Roadkill have had fun holding these Tag Belts, and at Cyberslam, they’re going to give it everything they have, and because of that, they’re going to walk away, still, ECW Tag Team Champions, because they are they best tag team this company has to offer. Roadkill then shouts out CHICKENZ to end it.

Out next, is Chris Chetti, to take on young Michael Shane, a kid whose worked for ECW here and there in squashes. And just like his usual bookings, this is a squash match; Chetti puts Shane away with the Amityville Horror quickly. After the match, Chetti beats down on Shane, but Nova and Spike Dudley come out through the crowd, and Chetti falls to the Acid Drop from Spike. Nova tosses both Chetti and Lou from the ring, and Hot Commodity to help Chetti. To end the segment, Nova gets on the mic and tells their Cyberslam opponents that they have selected their opponents, and that they’re very close friends with Spike Dudley, and can’t wait to show up at the Hammerstein Ballroom to take on Chetti and Hot Commodity. Star Rating- ½*

Tommy Dreamer comes out to the ring next, carrying the bloody strand of barbed wire, and talks about his match last week with CW Anderson, and their feud in general. Dreamer says that Anderson is a hell of a competitor, but last week, he was not the better man, Tommy was. Tommy was the better man at Guilty as Charged, and he was the better man last week. He got the win at GAC, but last week, one quick roll-up is all he needed to lose. And for some reason, that made Tommy snap. You all saw the attack afterwards, how he just showed no remorse to CW; he kicked his ass, slammed him into barbed wire, and cut his head fucking open with it. Dreamer talks about barbed wire then; it’s a lethal weapon, and out of all of the things Dreamer’s been slammed onto, nothing is worse than the pain of barbed wire. Two weeks ago, he took the Anderson Spinebuster on the barbed wire, but he got his revenge last week. But on the scoreboard, CW still leads 2 victories to 1. So now, at Cyberslam, it is time for Dreamer to chalk up a victory and tie it up. And since barbed wire is just such a favorite weapon for these two men right now, it is going to be suspended 15 feet in the air, because it’s going to be a Stairway to Hell match! The crowd erupts to end the segment, cheering the match.

In the main event of the show, Rob Van Dam, Christian York, and Joey Matthews (w/Joel Gertner) take on Jerry Lynn and Da Baldies, Spanish Angel and Tony Devito (w/Cyrus). The faces are quick to use their aerial abilities to their advantage in the match, while Lynn uses his technical prowess, and Da Baldies their physical abilities. In the end though, RVD scores a Van Daminator (without the chair) to Lynn, sending him from the ring, and York and Matthews toss Tony Devito from the ring. Stereo somersault planchas take out Lynn and Devito, and thanks to Gertner tossing RVD a chair, a Van Daminator to the face of Angel follows, and then the 5 Star Frog Splash. After the match, however, Lynn and Cyrus get a measure of revenge while the tag teams brawl throughout the Arena again. Cyrus hits RVD in the back of the head with a steel chair, which stalls him long enough for Lynn to re-enter the ring and hit RVD with a hard kick to the gut and Cradle Piledriver on a steel chair. Gertner tries to help RVD out, but eats a Cradle Piledriver as well, leaving the heel duo to celebrate as the show ends. Star Rating- *

ECW Hardcore TV- 02-23

Christian York & Joey Matthews versus Simon Diamond & Johnny Swinger starts the final show before Cyberslam off. York and Matthews put up quite a bit of offense against the two men, and almost score the victory of stereo super kicks, but Da Baldies make their presence felt, coming down to the ring and attacking the two young lions, hitting power bombs to both men. Diamond and Swinger recover, and York is pinned by Diamond after the Problem Solver tag team finisher. Star Rating- **

Nova and Spike Dudley come out to the ring and grabs a mic for some promo time. The two men hype up the 8-man tag team match at Cyberslam, and that Nova’s been waiting to get his hands on Chetti. He ran Chetti out of ECW before, and ever since he snuck back in at Guilty as Charged, Nova’s been dying to throw him out for good. At Cyberslam, it may not be one-on-one, but Nova knows he’s going to have some great help. Nova calls Spike the most resilient man in wrestling, and the littlest guy with the biggest heart. Spike takes the mic then and says he’d proud to be Nova’s partner, and reassures Nova that he has two partners who he’d trust with everything in his life. Spike hints at the partners being the Dudley Boyz, and says that these two men have grown to be his two best friends, hell, almost family if you will…

The promo leads into this match, Nova, Spike Dudley, Danny Doring & Roadkill versus EZ Money & Julio Dinero, and the Unholy Alliance (w/Chris Hamrick, Chris Chetti, Elektra, Lou E Dangerously & Sinister Minister). With Chris Chetti and Chris Hamrick on the outside with Elektra, the heel side had a distinct advantage in the match, but Nova rallies his troops, and refuses to let them lose. After being worked over for most of the match, Spike makes a tag to Nova, and things become chaotic from here. Nova cleans house on his opponents, and everyone ends up in the ring. Doring, Roadkill, Tajiri, and Whipwreck all spill to the outside, Spike takes out Money with an Acid Drop and then Chetti and Hamrick with a plancha, allowing Nova to score the Kryptonite Krunch on Dinero for the victory. Star Rating- * ¼

In a backstage, pre-recorded promo, Tommy Dreamer hypes the Stairway to Hell match, and that no matter what kind of pain CW puts him through, at the end of the day, he will be the man left standing, his arm raised in victory. He’s never backed down from a fight, and at Cyberslam, it will be a fight that he’ll damn sure win! CW Anderson then has a prerecorded promo as well, and says that he does respect Dreamer, but he knows that he is better then Dreamer. Dreamer’s old, his time is passed. Anderson’s the star, his time is now. At Cyberslam, he’s going to prove it, one more time!

In the main event, Rob Van Dam, Sandman, & New Jack (w/Joel Gertner) take on Jerry Lynn & The Impact Players (w/Cyrus, Rhino, Francine, & Jack Victory). Cyrus and Joel Gertner both get involved heavily in the match, and at the end, as did the ECW World Champion, Rhino. Before hand, it was a total brawl, and New Jack ends up taking a Super Kick on the apron that knocks him off and through a table, by Justin Credible. Rhino gets involved soon, and he immediately goes after Sandman and Corino, but the two men bond together to try and take out Rhino. The three men end up brawling up towards the entrance aisle; Sandman hits Rhino with several Singapore Cane shots and is about to finish Rhino off, but Corino hits him with the Old School Expulsion from behind after a low blow. This allows Rhino to recover, and GORE the holy hell out of Corino. In the ring, Credible falls victim to a chair-assisted Van Daminator, leaving Lynn one-on-two with RVD and New Jack. Rather than fight, he leaves the ring, walking to the back with Cyrus, as well as Rhino. New Jack hits the Diving Headbutt on Credible, followed by a 5 Star Frog Splash from RVD for the victory. After the match, New Jack, RVD, and Gertner celebrate, only for
