WWE Resurgence
Quote:
The WWE has always been an industry providing the fans with pure excitement and entertainment, however the year of 2007 has abruptly brought changes to the company like never before. As the past of Chris Benoit has become more and more revealing, World Wide Wrestling Entertainment has become increasingly accused of unwarranted justifications. Taking note of the ensuing bad publication, WWE Chairman Vincent Kennedy Mcmahon has now become consumed in an effort to restore dignity back to the World Wide Phenomenon. In his efforts, McMahon has stated in a recent public address, that starting with The Great American Bash, "The WWE will be looking to provide its fans with a higher level of entertainment, that will ensure the best action seen on all of television." In the proceeding weeks, certain actions were taken in stride toward reconstructing an overall better product. One of which such steps was taken out of the book of the UFC program known as "The Ultimate Fighter." In what appears to be an effort to redevelop the meaning of "reality tv," the "Tough Enough" competition will be making it's return, but this time the partcipants will be that of former WWE superstars looking to reform themselves in order to obtain a spot at the top. This effort has been described by McMahon as being, "an attmept to establish connections with the best talent not currently available on WWE programming." More details on the program will be known as WWE programming continues to aim for improvement.
Also, speaking on the terms of WWE programming, it has become noticable of the lacking viewers watching WWE television outside of Monday Nights. In another step which has been taken to provide viewers with the best programming available, Tuesday Night's ECW will now be combined with the CW Network's Smackdown, as both rosters will now be officially competing under the Blue Banner. While the move will see only a slight portion of ECW's talent advance to Friday's, it is expected that the retooled show will gain new exposure to some of the lesser known stars. The CW has also been heavily involved in the move by placing more pressure on one of it's premeire shows. CW executives, along with the WWE Board have both come into agreement of airing live showings on Friday Nights. The decision will come to exhibit what is hoped to be ratings similiar to that of Monday Night's Raw.
As the industry evolves, the WWE is set to receive a complete makeover. "World Wide Wrestling Entertainment is set to expereince new changes, which we do believe will be taken in stride. This does not mean that the current state of the WWE was in shambles, but the program was in no doubt, a bit lackluster," said CEO Linda McMahon. Chairman of the Board, Vincent Kennedy McMahon had the following to say, "The WWE is in need of reinventing. In a new era of professional wrestling, change is something to look forward to. And that as a whole is what is bound to happen, change. For the WWE is in a time of resurgence."

Batista vs The Great Khali
In what was surely bound to be a monster mash, the two big men fought to the storyline of Superman vs The Giant. Khali basically controlled the majority of the match by downing Batista with the usual chops & headbutts, however The Animal kept on coming back for more. In what would be considered the turning point of the match, Batista slipped out of a scoop slam attempt by Khali, and downed the Punjabi Giant after several clotheslines. With Khali down on the mat, Batista decided to get pumped up and to the fans approval set up Khali for the Batista Bomb. But much to everyone's expectations, Khali easily used his massive frame to nail a back body drop. After working over the chest of Batista with several direct chops and stomps, Khali had the match set up for a finish with his double handed choke slam. After connecting with the move, Khali went for the cover by placing his foot over the chest of Batista, but Dave successfully managed to kick out before the 3 count much to the approval to the fans at the HP Pavilion. Khali angrily hoisted the animal to his feet, but following an irish whip, Batista miraculously dodged a big boot and lifted Khali onto his shoulders (-esque John Cena), and connected with a Samoan Drop to a roaring approval. After getting revved up for a second time, Batista was able to hit a resounding Spinebuster, and scored the pinfall and victory.
Winner: Batista (12:44)
Following the match, Batista's celebration with the San Jose fans was ruined by The Silverback Mark Henry. Batista attempted to fend off his former foe, but once Khali got involved, there was nowhere but down left for the Animal. One World's Strongest Slam later, and Batista was all but done leaving Henry standing above the former champ with his hand raised.

Women's Championship
Candice (c) vs Melina
In what was set to be the culminating encounter between the two Divas, Melina came out strong looking like the favorite. With Melina's experience getting the better of Candice for the time being, Candice had to result to rope breaks to avoid the former champion's unslaught. After misconnecting with a suplex, Candice managed to capitalize with one of her own. After a minute or so of Candice's swift offense, Melina pulled out some underhanded tactics and forced Candice back into a corner. After placing a groggy Candice on the top rope, Melina looked to hit a big frankensteiner, but the Women's Champion made one of the biggest moves of the night in reversing Melina's attempt into a powerbomb. Candice slowly crawled over to the cover, but Melina wasn't fit enough for the kickout as Candice's title defense proved successful.
Winner: Candice (7:14)

United States' Championship
MVP (c) vs Matt Hardy
One of the most back and forth matches of the evening came when United States champion Montel Vontavious Porter put up his title against Matt Hardy. Both men got in their fair share of offense with Hardy hitting a high impact leg drop off the top rope, and MVP nailing a vicous boot to Hardy's gut while he was in the Tree of Woe. Hardy finally found an opening to go for the Twist of Fate, but MVP calculated his way out of the move, and decked the Hardy Boy with a clothesline. MVP then set his opponent up in the middle of the ring, where his taunt (BALLLLLL'IN) was followed up with a stiff elbow drop right into the chest of Hardy. Hardy appeared to be feeling the affects as MVP continued the advantage with various holds focused around the mid-section of Hardy. Hardy finally managed to fight his way out of an abdominal stretch, and quickly found himself on offense as he forced MVP down with a side effect. For the second time in the match, the Twist of Fate appeared to be on the verge of connection, but MVP pulled out some underhanded tactics and a low blow that went unnoticed by the referee. As Hardy tried to plead his case, he couldn't avoid getting blindsided by a big boot. Making sure to avoid the referee's eyesight, Porter made the cover using the ropes for leverage.
Winner: MVP (15:03)
As MVP celebrated up the entrance ramp, Matt Hardy looked on, apparently aware of the cheap tactics.
After Hardy left the ring to a solid fan reaction, "Booyaka 619" hit the PA, and San Jose was set alight as the returning Rey Mysterio made his way down to the ring. Seeing as he wasn't dressed to compete, Mysterio made note that he is finally 100%, and that he cannot wait to return to Friday Nights. Before leaving the ring, the San Diego native stated that, "I will make it my goal to climb to the top once again, and reclaim the World Heavyweight Title."

ECW World Championship
Johnny Nitro (c) vs CM Punk
In what could considerably be seen as the last ECW title match before the shows destruction, Johnny Nitro managed to steal victory right from under Punk's nose. While Nitro's athleticism won him the advantage early on, CM Punk managed to change the tone of the match by hitting some of the better moves within his arsenal (Bulldog, Springboard Clothesline, Spinout Backbreaker, etc). Punk looked to finish the match at the eight minute mark with the GTS, but Nitro slid off his shoulders before the damage could be done, with Nitro hitting a perfectly placed superkick. While Nitro only pulled out a two count, Punk was noticably shaken, and easy prey for a standing shooting star press. For a second time Punk forced the kickout, but Nitro saw a way to end the encounter for good, and following a Corkscrew Neckbreaker, the match was over.
Winner: Johnny Nitro (10:01)

Texas Bull Rope Match
Dusty Rhodes vs Randy Orton
While Orton in most people's eyes would be the obvious favorite, Dusty Rhodes lived up to his legend as he quickly overpowered Orton with his bulk and forced his way to three of four turnbuckles. The fight then broke out as a fired up American Dream cut through Orton with fists and a bionic elbow. Shockingly Rhodes appeared to be making his way to the final turnbuckle, but Orton grasped the ropes, and stopped Dusty dead; right infront of his destination. In quick fashion Orton tugged the veteran back into the middle of the ring and hit a devastating RKO. The much older participant seemed to be completely out of it as orton tied the ropes around Dusty's neck, making sure he would no longer play a factor. Then Orton dragged the limp Rhodes to the first three turnbuckles. As Orton approached the final corner, the American Dream showed some signs of fight, but with the ropes still clenched tightly around his neck, Rhodes had no where to go when Orton hit one of his signature kicks to the head that laid the Hall of Famer out cold. Orton then took his time touching the last turnbuckle before glaring out into the crowd.
Winner: Randy Orton (11:57)
Orton's eyes met the unconcious Dusty, and suddenly he became intent on one and one thing only. Orton rolled to the outside the ring where he grabbed a steel chair and went back into the ring. Stalking the finished Legend, Orton raised the chair above Rhodes' head. Just as Orton looked ready to come down on his victim, Cody came running out onto the entrance ramp. Before Dusty's son could make his way into the ring, Orton came down on Dusty's head with a crash. Once Cody made it to the ring, Randy retreated. As Cody tended to his father, Orton looked on with a smirk, happy to have killed another Legend.

World Heavyweight Championship
Edge (c) vs Kane
This match proved to go under the form of one of Edge's usual bouts. The heel champion used some of his dirty work in order to avoid the bulk of Kane's assualt, and eventually won the match over in his favor with a dropkick to the Big Red Machine while he was coming off the top rope looking to hit one of his patented clotheslines. Edge then focused on the arm of Kane which he weakened with various kicks and elbow drops, before finally locking in an arm bar on the mat. As Kane grunted in pain, Edge worked his way to his feet and then furthered the pain by rolling forward and snapping down on the number one contender's arm. With Kane feeling the assualt on his arm, Edge started to unleash his true arsenal with a DDT and a Edgecator to follow in suit. While in the hold Kane tried to force his way to the bottom rope, but before grabbing hold, Edge let go of the submission and quickly stomped on Kane's hand. After already working on one of Kane's arms, the World Heavyweight Champion took to the other in order to completely remove Kane's signature move. While hooking in another arm bar, Edge tried to climb to the top rope for extra pressure, but before reaching his feet, Kane kicked at the rope, crotching the current champ.
From Edge's position, Kane was able to set up a powerbomb which connected to a roar from the crowd. When all seemed over, Edge barely got his foot on the bottom rope stopping the finish. After the pin attempt, the action moved to the outside of the ring where Kane sent Edge after a boot over the top rope. As the two men traded punches on the outside, Kane saw an opening with a whip into the steel steps, but he had the move reversed. With Kane slowed by the impact, Edge looked to get the match over with by grabbing his title belt from ringside. The referee warned Edge about the title, but he refused to listen and looked to be teeing up Kane. Once the seven footer turned around, Edge came charging with the belt, only to be met with another boot that sent Edge's title back into his face. As the action returned to the ring, Kane looked for the finish with the Chokeslam, but noticable weakened, Edge was able to avoid the move and hit a chop block. As Kane dropped to a knee, Edge went out once again to retreive his title, which upon return the referee yanked from his hands. However, much to everyone's shock, and with the ref's back turned, Edge pulled out some brass knucks. As Kane rose to his feet, Edge came forward and pummeled the big man back to the mat, as blood bagan to spirt from his mouth! Quickly disposing of the evidence, Edge backed into a corner setting up the Spear. After Kane was met with the finisher, the finish was only seconds away.
Winner: Edge (23:32)
As Edge made his exit; title in tact, a visibly distrought Kane rose in the ring with a worried look on his face. Just as Kane wobbled to his feet, the lights went out and fire began to shoot from the entrance ramp and ringposts. Kane who looked oblivious to the matter became increasingly disturbed with the situation. As the pyro went out, Kane hurriedly made his way backstage.
After a comedy segment backstage with Eugene, we return to hear the sounds of "No Chance" as Mr. McMahon makes his way out to the ring. Before the main event gets started, Mr. McMahon has important matters to attend to. We soon find out that Teddy Long has asked for his resignation as General Manager due to obvious personal reasons, and in his place, someone must be named. As the fans show signs of anticipating Vickie Guerrero, everyone is shocked as "I'm Back" blasts the HP Pavilion. Eric Bischoff struts out to the ring and embraces McMahon before addressing the fans. Bischoff's speech comes to a close as he reminds the fans of his Autobiography title:"Controversy Creates Cash."

WWE Championship
John Cena (c) vs Bobby Lashley
The long awaited match between the two fan favorites begins with a show of respect as both men shake hands. The tension is quick to build as the two lock up, and Lashley overpowers the champion back into a corner. Lashley's strength proves greater then that of Cena's as the former ECW Champion downs his counterpart with various slams and strikes. The pace is slowed as Lashley locks in a bearhug, but Cena uses some of the women and children's support to fight his way out of the hold. The first high spot in the match comes when Cena hits a superplex off the top rope, followed by a 2 count. Complete pandemonium breaks out as the two heavyweights start trading fists, until Lashley gets the advantage with a lariat. As Cena makes his way to his feet, Bobby comes off the ropes with a spear, as Cena then breaks the count just before the third fall. After working over the back of Cena with a bow & arrow stretch, Lashley lifts Cena in position for a suplex. In a show of stength, Lashley holds Cena in the air for a ten count, before crashing down to the mat. Another cover receives a two count as the match progresses with Cena a step behind. Arguably the biggest spot in the match comes when Lashley sets up the Dominator and Cena is able to wrap his feet around the ropes. As Lashley is forced to release the move, he sets up to charge at Cena whom lifts the big man into position for the FU, and then ultimatley sends him over the top rope and crashing down to the floor. Cena starts to get pumped as he climbs to the top rope when Lashley begins to stir. Just as Lashley realizes what is going on, Cena jumps off the top looking for a crossbody, but in yet another impressive showing of stength, the former U.S. soldier catches Cena in mid-air. With Cena still in his grasps, Lashley rams the back of the champ into the ringpost as he screams in agony.
Before the ref reaches his ten count, Lashley breaks it, and then heads back outside as he takes Cena over to the announcing booths. Of course the ECW booth is chosen as Lashley begins to tear apart the set up. Just as Lashley starts to push Cena atop the table, the WWE champion finds his composure as he delivers a jaw cracking right hand to the face of Lashley. After ramming Lashley back first into the ring, Cena rolls in to break the ten count once again. With Lashley down on the outside, Cena takes his time to refocus as he then too goes for the table. After placing the former ECW champion up top, Cena proceeds to try and lift his opponent onto his shoulders. As Cena looks to have the FU locked in, Lashley elbows the champ in the face and finds his feet. An exhausted John Cena is then set up for the Dominator for a second time, as Lashley's finisher connects sending both men through the table! The referee has no choice but to continue his count as both men are out of it.
No Contest (25:13)
EMT's immediatley rush out to check on both men following the devastating finish. As both men lay there with their eye's glazed over, JR ends the pay-per-view with screams of "Oh My Gawd!"

Re: WWE Resurgence
Raw Preview -
July, 23 2007
Arco Arena
Sacramento, California
This week Raw comes to you live from the land of the Kings as Sacramento welcomes the stars of Monday Nights!
Fallout From The Bash
After an astounding Great American Bash no man was left standing when Bobby Lashley sacrificed both his health and title shot in order to leave his mark on the evening. Following a vicious Dominator through the ECW announce table, both the Champ and the former U.S. Soldier were left in a heap of devestation. What will become of the two's recent rivalry when they step into the Arco Arena? Will Bobby Lashley get another crack at the belt after leaving his mark?
Also, last night at the Bash WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes was brutalized at the hands of the "Legend Killer." Due to Orton's sadistic actions, Dusty's son Cody has taken to avenging his family name by challenging the cocky superstar to a one on one contest. What will become of the "American Dream's" son when he steps into the ring with the twisted Randy Orton? Could this be the end of a young career? Or will Cody pull out the upset?
In addition to the rest of the night's festivities, Monday Night will welcome the returning WWE Chairman Vincent Kennedy McMahon, who has promised a thrilling announcement in a somber time within the WWE. With the recent events of late, the WWE will look forward to the Chairman's appearance which could potentially mark the start of an event that could quite possibly shake the foundations of the WWE forever! What exactly does the Chairman have in store for the fans of Sacramento?
And in another announcement, Cryme Tyme will have the opportunity to step forward into the Tag Title scene as they battle Cade & Murdoch in a Non-Title match. Can Shad and JTG pull off the win? All this and more on the next edition of Monday Night Raw!
Confirmed Matches
Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton
Cade & Murdoch vs Cryme Tyme

Re: WWE Resurgence

Raw
June 23, 2007
Arco Arena
Sacramento, California
` The Raw opening video gets us kicked off to the sounds of Papa Roach’s “…To Be Loved.” Following the video we cut to ringside where JR and King are excitedly awaiting tonight’s audience. `
JR: One night removed from The Great American Bash, and Monday Night Raw is sure to be a slobber knocker!
King: Can you believe it JR? John Cena and Bobby Lashley took it to the limit last night, but due to a Double Count Out, the Champ retains.
JR: Yes, the culmination of last nights fantastic pay per view was absolutely shocking with Lashley making his name known by sacrificing his title shot with that brutal Dominator through the table.
` A video is shown highlighting the damage from last night. `
King: JR, I couldn’t believe it then, and I can’t believe it now! That was single handedly one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen!
` As JR and King continue to dispute the ending of last night’s pay per view, “Soldier” hits the loudspeaker and an angry looking Bobby Lashley comes out with a mic in hand. `
JR: I am not surprised by this at all King. Last night, Bobby Lashley did not lose the match, therefore I do still believe he is worthy of number one contendership.
King: That may be true JR, but Lashley shouldn’t come out here and complain. He cost himself the match last night!
` Lashley is now in the ring taking in the reception as he starts to speak into the mic. `
Lashley: Well there you have it, last night I took the WWE champion to the limit, and you know what? I do believe that despite not winning the match, I left the Great American Bash as the winner. You see, even though the strap still belongs to John Cena, I took our match to the limit……..I set the pace, and he had to follow……..I nailed the Champ with a Dominator!
` A mixed reaction comes after Lashley’s words, but a noticeable “Lashley” chant can be heard coming from the older audience. `
Lashley : Now I’ve always respected John Cena, but this is about something much more than respect, this is about pride, the pride that comes with being a Champion. As you all rightfully know, I did not lose. Therefore, I’m calling you out Champ! I want the title, and I want it tonight!
` The noise level increases at the hint of a title match. `
Lashley: John Cena, if you want some……….come get some!
` Just as Lashley finishes his sentence, “My Time Is Now” erupts about the Arco Arena, and the WWE Champ walks out looking more serious than ever. The affects of last night seem to have taken their toll on Cena as he slides into the ring and instantly gets in the face of Lashley. After making his presence known, Cena grabs a mic of his own before returning to face his opponent from the Bash. `
Cena: Bobby, I have one thing to say to you………congratulations.
` Despite his efforts to praise Lashley, Cena keeps a serious tone. `
Cena: I am not ashamed to admit that last night you took me to a new limit. Last night, you proved to the world that you are worthy of the Big Leagues. For that, I offer you congratulations. However, I do not want you to get too proud of yourself because you have failed to do one thing…..
` Cena raises his title belt. `
Cena: You have not dethroned the Champion!
Lashley: Oh, but I intend to, you can bet tha….
Cena: Lashley, I’m sure you intend to do many things. But last night, you did not beat me. You simply risked it all, and came up empty handed.
` Some of the fans take to booing Cena as Lashley looks to be becoming irate. `
Cena: I too respect you, but as you said this isn’t just about respect, this is about the title. And it ain’t no illusion, I am the | |
