Smackdown review

Opening promo - A bit too clustered and out of character for my liking here. Edge didn't take a second to breathe and his whole speech ended a little self contradictary by the end of it. Bringing up the wrong things at the wrong times (the low blow, and the MITB reference when it'd be a whole lot more impressive to just say former champion) cost this one big time on the entertainment scale, even if it did work out storyline wise.

Palumbo/Henry - Did it's job of continuing the fued here and came across as realistic too. i was happy to see that Henry's size mattered here, and you gave Palumbo an understandable way to win, rather than stretch his ability too far. You've kept this one interesting.

Punk/Kennedy promo - Both guys spot on here, and advanced their fued really nicely. Only problem is a really high moment promo ended really quite flat. Why no tagline or final imposing statement?

MVP segment - A clause that says Long can put him in any match? Long can do that to anyone, anytime, already. A bit odd it'd be pointed out like that. Other than that though this seems fine by me. Looking forward to seeing you expand your division.

Punk/Booker - Why did Finlay have to attack twice? Especially considering Hornswoggle coming back to Punk, this seems like a bit of wasted effort in terms of writing. You could have just as easily had a more straight forward match, and then just have Finlay attack when the time came. Sometimes less really is more.

New Breed promo - Again, another example of how less is more. Did Kane really need to come in and land a finishing move in that scenario? I don't think so, especially since you didn't make a big deal out of it at all.

WGTT/Hooligans - Ok an intentional botched finish for something like that? No way. I can't accept that as logical booking. The match was going perfectly the whole way through and then you basically made a wrestler look bad just for one match.

Main Event - Once again you're main match writing flaw is packing too much in too fast. How many times do you think you said the word Spear in those two paragraphs? Whoring it out a little right? Take a look at some other recapped matches and note how they preserve the specialness of a special move. If you use them too much, like you have here, they aren't special any longer and its all just generic crap. Keep it in mind.

Bradley’s SmackDown Comments

Edge’s speech at the start was pretty deep. The Undertaker spoke for about the right length, and I don’t think I can knock anything there, except for when you underline the names of people and less crowd pops makes it pretty bad. But overall this was excellent! 7/10

Mark Henry vs. Chuck Palumbo was unrealistic with the outcome. I like the fact that Palumbo won, but in realism it would be a Mark Henry squash match. You booked the match well though. 5/10

Good summary with King Booker vs. CM Punk. Typical Finlay to interrupt the match. Hornswoggle did good and I loved the outcome via DQ. Good work 9/10

Next two matches, went a bit overboard with the match time between Londrick and the World’s Greatest Tag Team, but TBOD vs. Batista / Edge was good with the outcome, Edge is a cheat and I can tell that. 7/10

Overall great outcomes through the show and sorry there’s only a few comments, but I just wanted to let you know how to improve really, feedback isn’t useful if everyone is just saying you’re great, so just a few comments for how you can improve, although great work. Can’t wait for Raw, and good luck with SummerSlam.

Thanks to everyone who reviewed Smackdown, I hope to review your shows in the very near future, if I have time.

Speaking of time I have decided to skip 2 weeks ahead to Saturday Night's Main Event in Madison Square Garden, moan at me all you want but I wanted a springboard until Summerslam is started in the new year and this is a good way to do it. SNME is up in full so basically a mini PPV.

Basically I haven't had a lot of time recently, a lot of school work to be getting on with, projects etc, added with the fact I have to return reviews before Xmas (which I want to enjoy) I decided to skip to where I would have been at Xmas, this will be my final skip EVER and with only 2 weeks away after that until Summerslam with a show each in full, Summerslam could be the best ever and 3 weeks after we have a massive Unforgiven event. I will be writing SNME over the next 2 weeks, giving a preview every other day, here is the card for SNME, make your predictions if you want to:

SNME CARD:

Khali vs. Show

Austin vs. Vince

DX vs. Orton/RVD

Cena vs. ‘Taker

MVP vs. Santino

Kennedy, Cor Von, Burke and King Booker (w/ Matt Striker and Queen Sharmell) vs. Kane, Batista, Punk and Finlay

Just to add I will post mini-recaps of the two RAW and two Smackdown shows and then give you the current Summerslam card after.

Definitely some shocking news Bradders, but time does take it's toll eventually. Here are my SNME Predictions

The Great Khali vs. The Big Show
Winner: The Big Show
Reason: It seems as if everyone is a Khali hater, and they do everything they can to get him out of their thread

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon
Winner: Vince McMahon
Reason: Austin will get screwed over somehow, which will lead to a huge SummerSlam match.

DX vs. Orton/RVD
Winners: DX
Reason: I have a sense that DX will win, and then one of them will turn on the other after the match.

John Cena vs. The Undertaker
Winner: John Cena
Reason: This is a toss-up. I just guessed Cena. I figure Edge will come out and screw the Undertaker, leading to a SummerSlam match, but this is a huge toss-up.

MVP vs. Santino Marella
Winner: MVP
Reason: This would be an even bigger push for MVP.

Kennedy, Cor Von, Burke and King Booker (w/ Matt Striker and Queen Sharmell) vs. Kane, Batista, Punk and Finlay
Winners: Kane, Batista, CM Punk and Finlay
Reason: Just makes sense to have a big face team like this to get the huge victory.

Thank you for the influx of predictions, just to let everyone know the card I may have posted that says DX vs. Orton/RVD was a preliminary card and it was changed to DX vs. Rated RKO 3 weeks ago.
