The show kicks off with Punk in the ring. He is getting a very loud reaction from the crowd as he begins to speak. He voices his displeasure at not being included in the world title tournament but insists it probably was the right choice as he is a relative newcomer to the WWE. He goes on to say that Kennedy should never disrespect someone he didn’t know. Kennedy may be in the tournament but only people that are straight-edge can truly fulfil their destiny when the time comes, Punk says that Kennedy will not win a title at the Great American Bash because he has done a lot of bad things in his life, karma will always come back to haunt him. Kennedy, who seemingly has had enough, comes out to the ramp and says he is cocky and arrogant because he deserves to be, he is the greatest in the ring and he will show it when he beats Kane later on. Punk then goes out to confront Kennedy but Kennedy hightails it, only to be met by Kane who grasps the throat of Kennedy and chokeslams Kennedy on the ramp. Punk and Kane then stare each other down before Kane makes flames shoot out of the turnbuckles. Kane then walks away.
The first match of the Rage in a Cage tournament is Finlay vs. Batista. Finlay is using his physicality early on to get the upper hand. Whenever Batista starts to gain some momentum Finlay chops him down and uses dirty tactics to stay on top. It is nearing the end of the match; Finlay has Batista in the corner, constantly stamping on the previously injured ribs of Batista. Finlay runs at Batista but Finlay is tripped up by Batista, straight in to the metal pole. Batista gets up and starts violently shouting. Batista lifts Finlay up and Irish whips Finlay to the ropes, Batista lifts Finlay up and spinebusters him on the steel! Batista then picks Finlay up once again and sets Finlay up for the Batista Bomb but before Finlay is lifted in the air, Finlay delivers a low blow to Batista. Finlay then musters up all of his strength and lifts Batista up for the Celtic Cross, Finlay sends him straight in to the steel but both men come off badly. Several seconds later both men get to their feet. Batista throws Finlay in to the steel and starts to climb the cage. Hornswoggle meanwhile is very quickly scaling the cage with the shillelagh in hand, Hornswoggle bites at the fingers of Batista right at the top forcing Batista to relinquish his grip on the cage, sending him down 15 feet. Hornswoggle climbs in to the cage and hands Finlay his weapon. Batista is enraged; he clobbers Hornswoggle with a (Small) boot to the face. Finlay goes to hit Batista but he manages to dodge out of the way and hit a spear. Batista picks up Finlay and hits a Batista Bomb for the cover.
After the break; Deuce and Domino are out in the ring, accompanied by Cherry. They grasp their tag titles and state that there is no real competition on Smackdown and that they needn’t bother defending their tag titles at the Great American Bash because the fans don’t want to see two handsome men beat anyone in 5 seconds flat. This brings out Teddy Long, he says that they will defend their titles at the Great American Bash, he doesn’t know who will face them yet but he assures D & D it will be a great match. Domino grabs the mic and says IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO WE FACE and that next week they would send a message to the entire tag team division in the WWE.
The second match in the Rage in a Cage tournament is Mr. Kennedy against the Big Red Machine, Kane. Kennedy constantly tries to escape from the cage in the match but Kane’s reach keeps Kennedy from escaping. Towards the end of the match Kane is absolutely dominating Kennedy, giving him stern right hands to the mouth, leaving him slumped up in the corner, Kane flies at Kennedy from out of nowhere, sending Ken straight in to the steel, cutting him open. Kane is then scaling the cage but is rather slow so Kennedy manages to recover and catch up to him, using the turnbuckle to gain some height advantage. Kane and Kennedy trade right hands 10 feet above the ring before Kane gets the upper hand and Kennedy falters on to the turnbuckle. Kennedy still doesn’t give up and shakes the cage, forcing Kane to drop down in to the ring slowly. Kennedy, who is shaken, gets to his feet and delivers some stern punches to the stomach of Kane but it doesn’t affect him. Kane grabs the throat of Kennedy but Kennedy hits the low blow and bounces off the ropes, going for a flying clothesline, but Kane grasps Kennedy’s throat again and hits the chokeslam. Kane walks over to the door and proceeds to shake the latches off. Suddenly, the New Breed sprint down to the ring and unlock the door, they slam it back in Kane’s face. Just like on RAW a few weeks ago, they have a chain in hand; Cor Von is holding a chair. Matt Striker kicks Kane in the groin before proceeding to choke Kane out, Cor Von hit Kane with a chair. Striker and Cor Von help Kennedy to his feet. Meanwhile, Burke places Kane in the corner and hits the Elijah Express. The New Breed rolls Kennedy out of the ring for the win.
King Booker is being interviewed backstage by Krystal. Booker says that the Smackdown Kingdom will bare witness to the demolishing of Matt Hardy, he will be tried for treason and then beaten down to a bloody pulp. He will then hold the world title aloft again. Edge then comes along saying sorry to disappoint you ‘Book’ but whoever wins it doesn’t matter, they will still have to face a fresh world champion, but he still wishes him luck in a sarcastic tone for the match.
The third match in a series of 4 is King Booker vs. Matt Hardy. Queen Sharmell has been locked outside for this match so there is no way she will interfere. The match is a great wrestling match throughout going back and forth. We **** this match as both men do battle on the top turnbuckle. King Booker tries to hit the Book End off of the top turnbuckle but Hardy elbows the back of the head of Booker. Booker grabs Hardy’s head and slams it to the back of the cage; he then throws him off of the turnbuckle. Instead of climbing the cage, Booker hits the Harlem Hangover from the top rope. He then goes for the pin but only gets the 2 count. Booker then waits until Hardy is on his feet and goes for the axe kick but Hardy ducks and Booker gets his leg caught in the rope, Hardy takes this opportunity to get a few punches in and a running shoulder block, sending Booker’s back in to the cage. Booker finally gets out of the predicament and begs Hardy not to hurt him; Hardy is caught unawares by Booker’s eye rake. Booker then kicks Hardy and goes for the scissors kick but Hardy ducks out of the way. Hardy then hits the Twist of Fate, goes for the cover, and gets the win.
Chavo is seen backstage in his locker room with Mark Henry. Chavo is trying to think up plans to get off sick for The Great American Bash. Mark says why don’t you pretend to hurt yourself. Chavo says that is a great idea, he could throw a match. Chuck Palumbo and Eric Young barge in and say there is no chance in Hell that they would ever think about throwing a match because at the Great American Bash Chavo will be facing Eric Young for the Cruiserweight title, if he didn’t show up he would lose the title and be fired. Chavo the stares down Eric Young before leaving the room in disgust, saying something in Spanish before leaving.
The final match in the quarter finals of the tournament sees a returning Undertaker (who is accompanied by druids) and Cor Von (who is accompanied by the New Breed) Cor Von and Taker lock up in the middle of the ring towards the end of the match and Taker forces Cor Von in to the corner. Taker hits a Big Boot in the corner. Taker then goes for the flying clothesline but Cor Von manages to get out of the way. Cor Von hits a rather feeble Big Boot of his own but still sends Undertaker against the cage. Cor Von hits the Pounce on to Undertaker, rattling the cage. Cor Von then goes straight for the pinfall but only manages to get the 2 count. Cor Von signals to the New Breed to get something, they pull out wire cutters and brush aside the officials trying to stop them. The New Breed then cut the wire but a lightning bolt strikes the ring, stopping the New Breed in their tracks. Undertaker then sits up, Batista and Kane run down to chase the New Breed out of the arena, leaving just Undertaker and Cor Von in the ring. Cor Von leaps to his feet and tries to hit the Pounce on Undertaker, who slowly gets to his feet. Cor Von misses, sending Cor Von straight in to the turnbuckle, Undertaker picks up the pieces and hits the Tombstone on Cor Von for the win.
After the commercial break Kennedy is backstage, glorifying his win against Kane. He says now no-one will stop him, even though he has to face The Undertaker, who, as he points out, he has beaten several times before and will easily do it again next week on Smackdown. Kennedy then announces who the number one contender will be at the Great American Bash, MRRRRRR KENNNN-A-DDYYYYY KENNNN-A-DDYYYYYYY
The main event for the evening is the World Champion Edge vs. CM Punk inside a steel cage. Punk gets in a lot of early kicks on Edge but the World Champ manages to shake them off and use a lot of underhand tactics to get his way. Edge starts eye gouging Punk towards the end of the match, he then fish hooks Punk but the crowd get behind Punk and he manages to kick his way out of proceedings. Edge simply applies the fishhook again but Punk grabs the hair of Edge and forces Edge’s face to grate against the steel, cutting his flesh up. Punk then hits a bulldog but only gets a two count. Punk manages to climb up to the top rope and thinks about escaping but Edge springs to his feet and rushes over to the top turnbuckle and also stands on it. Punk gets the upper hand, kicking the groin of Edge, to the crowd’s amusement. Punk then goes for the G2S off of the top rope but Edge lands on his feet, Punk leaps down but Edge hits a low blow on Punk, he then hits the Edgecution, only getting the two count. Edge starts to scale the cage but Punk gets to his feet and grabs on to the cage and shakes it but Edge is holding on with all of his might. Punk has no choice but to also climb up but Edge forcibly punches Punk and bashes his head in to the steel, cutting him open, Edge then clotheslines Punk off and goes down to the floor himself. Edge places Punk in the corner and charges at him, giving him a spear but hitting the metal pole face first. Both men are completely out of it as UNDERTAKER, BATISTA, MATT HARDY AND MR. KENNEDY are standing behind Edge after breaking the door open. Edge looks up at Punk and realises he is out cold so gets to his feet, smirking, he doesn’t realise the 4 men behind him. Edge is speared by Batista, Kennedy then hits the Green Bay Plunge, Matt Hardy hits the Side Effect before Undertaker hits the Tombstone Piledriver, in this time Punk has crawled out of the ring and gained the victory. The message was clear from these 4 men, don’t cross them. Edge was out cold in the ring as the show went off the air.
Nice opening segment right there with Punk and Kennedy. Punk seems to be on a verge of a push in this thread despite not being in the tournament. Kane coming out and chokeslamming Kennedy on the ramp was logical due to their match later on in the show. Batista advances in the tournament despite interference from Hornswoggle. The match featured great pyschology with Finlay playing a great heel in the match. The Duece and Domino segment could have been done as a backstage segment or even possibly an Unlimited segment as it really doesn't seem to be a big feud on Smackdown. Kennedy wins thanks to the New Breed. This seems to be an interesting feud here, and one that I have yet to read in other's BTBs. However I still have a feeling that Kennedy won't win the tournament. Hardy beating King Booker is a huge surprise as I thought King Booker would win and move onto the next round. From reading the recap of the match, it seems to be the best match on the card so far. The Chavo/Mark and Chuck/Young segment didn't seem to even make sense. The segment seemed really rushed and kind of fell flat in the end. Taker winning was expected, despite Monty Brown being a great opponent for Taker in his return match. Kennedy could have said a bit more in his interview, and his match versus Taker next week should be great. Punk wins despite the interference from the others. Overall the show was good, but could have been a whole lot better. Even though the tournament seems to be limited to just cage matches, the main event could have been a regular match. Next week's Smackdown should do more in continuing more of the feuds on Smackdown. Looking forward to your next show.

Kennedy/kane match: New breed on Smackdown?!?!?!? that sounds cool. Happy to see Kennedy get the win, happy to see NB helping out, but wheres Thorn?
edge/booker promo: Booker and Edge both seemed in character.
Hardy/Booker: good match, i could see the ending happening in my head. good job on that match.

Re: Bradley presents - WWE: History Rewritten
Got to say you pulled it off Bradders. I know you wanted this show to be a big one and it certainly was. Punk starting the show and with his match against Edge later was something i liked a great deal as it built up their match, which was needed as it's not one of the tournament matches. There was no real surprise in the outcomes with the exception of Matt beating Booker. I would have liked Matt to win anyway, and i sense that Matt didn't only won cos Booker is gone from the WWE in real life. Punk's match with Edge was cool to read, pity you went with the standard recap format for this show though!
Very good TV, realistic in comparison to Raw which needs toning down. I agree that the Chavo/Young/Palumbo/Henry is unbelievably random with people just thrown together. Young/Chavo could be good without the other guys invovled. But well done!
