BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

The title should say it all really. Keep all discussion for the World Cup in this thread, and this thread only. Anything non World Cup related goes in the stickied BTB Discussion Thread.

I'll be announcing the provisional teams in the next hour in a different thread. I've tried to make the teams as even as possible, but of course there are going to be strong teams, and there are going to be weaker teams. From the line ups, I firmly believe that every single team has at least two strong bookers, some have three.

^Link to the discussion thread. It's an example of what I dont want this thread to be^

I've added a poll to this thread too just for kicks.

Re: BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

I can't wait to find out which team i'm on, i'm really looking forward to this tourney, (so much that last night i read through all 113 pages of the last world cup discussion thread... yeah i was pretty bored.)

Looking through the sign ups, i think the UK team could potentially be the strongest with Forever Delayed, The Showstopper, Kane01, Deadman_014 among a couple of others.

Team Europe didn't have many sign-ups (about 4 i think) so on paper they may look like the weakest (although they have some talented bookers such as Jerichoholic and Boogeyman). But i have a strong feeling that Spartanlax or Szumi (or perhaps both) will be moved there as they have Europe as their second choice. Plus they were on the Europe team last year.

North USA had a lot of appliciants with some of the most well known bookers such as Szumi, Spartanlax and Arjun (Although i think one of the first two will be moved to Europe).

Not as many joined US South, but again they had a few talented people (the only one i can remember right now is King of pain, who i expect will be the captain of the team). I think several people from US North will be moved here to even it out (they are some dark horses in both of the US teams in my view, such as DDMac and WCW rules).

I don't think team ROTW got many sign-ups either, so even though they have people like Apple Spitter and Crazian, right now i don't think they look like the strongest to win (but of course it all depends on who is moved there.)

I think the one to look out for, will be team Oceania. They could have established bookers such as Grendrill, Orry and Renegade along with Emperor DC, Jaheyun and Kronical who could also be dark horses in my opinion.

These are just my thoughts reading through the entries, of course it all depends on who gets their first choice or not.

Re: BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

Just seen the teams in the other thread, and wow, it looks great thus far. I've been thrown onto a very talented team England, so i hope i can do a good job and help bring the trophy (so to speak) home. Liking the looks of this one.

Re: BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

Although i was hoping to be with my boys in Team Oceania, i'm more then pleased to b in Team England. I'm with my man Brandon and Boogeyman and along with Kane and Forever Delayed and given a bit of luck, we should be able to get to at least the Semis. I cant wait to show some of my stuff off.

Good luck to all particpants and let the annuall stroking of the egos commence.

Re: BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

Wolfy, can't we use some old stuff from BTB Match Writing Tournament Fall (last year) and from first ever BTB Promo Tournament (this happened recently).

Re: BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

I'm pulling for Team USA South because that was my team last year, but Team Oceania looks strong.

Re: BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

I think each team has an equal chance of winning as the other, being the promo judge i can't really pick favourites but this should be an interesting competition

Best in the World or Here to Show the World?

Re: BTB World Cup Discussion Thread

Team Europe will do what they came so close to doing last year and that is to win the World Cup. I think the teams look pretty equal and it should be an interesting tournament once again.
