The Rock to WCW!?

Quote:
~Saturday, May 26- 11:18 AM- There are several reports making rounds that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has signed with World Championship Wrestling! The Rock, as many know by now, is currently not with the World Wrestling Federation. The Rock left the company after Wrestlemania 17 in order to film “The Scorpion King”. Many thought that The Rock was simply on a leave from the WWF, but his contract did indeed expire. The Rock told Vince McMahon that he was done in the wrestling business, and wanted to make a career in the movie industry. However, many different wrestling websites have now reported that The Rock is not leaving the wrestling business at all, and has made an agreement to sign with World Championship Wrestling! Now, this information is just a rumor right now, although it could very well be true. If Rocky has indeed signed with WCW, he will not debut until August, as he still is filming “The Scorpion King”. This would be a huge signing for WCW, and this could be the star the company needs to be considered serious competition to the WWF again. More on the story as it develops!
WCW Monday Nitro Cancelled!?

Quote:
~Monday, May 28- 3:36 AM- Yes, you read the headline correctly; World Championship Wrestling flagship program Monday Nitro is cancelled! The USA Network has cancelled Monday Nitro effective immediately! Some have wondered if USA has the power to just up and cancel Nitro on short notice, but there was a clause in the contract that stated the USA Network had the right to cancel the show at any given point and time. This comes as a huge blow to WCW, who now are left without a television show just as the company seemed to be gaining momentum! Even worse for WCW, the company is a day removed from Slamboree, a PPV that could definitely be considered the company’s best PPV of the year! The USA Network will air the 80s comedy “Airplane!” starring Leslie Nielson and Lloyd Bridges in place of Monday Nitro tonight for those that care. World Championship Wrestling is a promotion that could definitely be filled with chaos right now, and we could all very well be seeing the end of WCW! Any form of an update on this huge announcement will be posted immediately!
OOC: Are you fucking kidding me!? Nitro gets cancelled by the USA after only 3 shows? And to make it worse, WCW is coming right off of a PPV and the return of their biggest star, Goldberg! Yeah, I’m pissed! But hey, that is the wrestling business for you, and it certainly creates a lot of turmoil in the company. And I can promise you this, Nitro being cancelled is only the beginning of the company’s woes!

WOW. Shockworthy news. Nitro cancelled is definately gonna cause problems. I love that any review in this thread can be honest about their posts instead of lying or saying stuff out of sympathy. As for the Rock, you do realise that if he signs with the WCW, then everything, his trademark, his finishing moves, his names, his merchandice, are all copyrighted to WWF and the Rock will come off with something else. Maybe he should debut as the Scorpian King! That would own WWF right in the face. Ha, look at me being a mark on a BTB thread.

No, no. I'm sorry if I sounded pissed. I didn't hate it. Reminded me of my Global Warming PPV event that I debuted with. I loved it. I just saw some flaws to it that you will quickly fix in the future.

The Great One to WCW would be great. I hope we get some great feuds if he truley comes.

That sucks that this week's Nitro has been canceled as we don't get to see the aftermath of Slamboree after the PPV.

Slamboree review:

Evan Karagias vs Shannon Moore vs Shane Helms-CW Championship: 6.5/10

A decent cruiserweight bout that opened the show. Nice little comedy spot at the beginning and some solid wrestling followed. Maybe should have used some more high flying seeing how that gets the crowd excited.

Jim Duggan vs Rick Steiner: 2/10

Well the match was a stinker but the way you wrote it got a few giggles from me. 1 for the effort of writing it and +1 for the way you wrote it, 0 for the match. I could imagine you hated writing this match in your debut PPV.

O'Haire & Palumbo vs Kronik - TagTeam Titles: 6/10

I suspected a stinker of a match but you succeeded into actually make Kronik have a decent tagteam match! Cudos! Maybe you could have made O'Haire look a little stronger though.

Hugh Morrus vs Lance Storm - US-Title: 5/10

Like others have said: this match was boring cuz of Morrus' boring wrestling offense. But since I like Lance Storm and the match wasn't completely horrible I'll pass it. I really hope you book Storm against some good opponents as he can have some awesome midcard bouts.

Filthy Animals vs Yung Dragons: 8/10

MOTN. I love cruiserweight action and when you combine it with some decent/good tagteam psychology it makes for a very good bout. This match owned the other Tagteam match in every aspect. Also love the Shooting Star Press spot by Kidman at the end.

Ric Flair vs Jeff Jarret: 7.5/10

I liked the match as a whole as it put Jarret over but Flair really did look like a fool but you already stated you're reason for doing that. Conclusion: Very good match, would of been MOTN if Flair was made to look stronger.

DDP vs Booker T vs Scott Steiner - WHC Championship: 7/10

I was just hoping that this match would turn out alright, not great just alright for a mainevent. I hate Scott Steiner so that hurt the match alot but you managed to make it into a pretty decent title bout. So I ain't complaining.

overall rating: 60/100

Conclusion: Again you did good considering the crap roster you have to work with. But I still have no idea why you put Duggan/Steiner on this card?

May 28, 2001- Ric Flair’s Mansion- 6:08AM

Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, and Steve Borden were all sitting down around the coffee table in Flair’s living room. The table had three coffee mugs, and one paper. That paper is the statement from the USA Network, stating that they have dropped Monday Nitro from their station. All three men have expressions of anger, sadness, and paranoia. WCW had a successful PPV last night, and now, the very next morning, they are without a television show! None of the three men are sure where to go from here.

Eric Bischoff: Fuck! Fuck, Fuck, Fuck!

Ric Flair: Why the fuck did these USA bastards dick us over!?

Steve Borden: Guys, I know you’re both angry, but do we really have time to curse and swear the USA corporate's out?

Eric and Ric Fuck yes!

Borden smirks, but shakes his head.

Borden: No guys, we don’t. We can’t sit back and be pissy and moany about this. We have to lift up our chins, stand tall, and move on.

Bischoff: Steve, I’m glad you can try and be positive about this whole thing, but um, I see a problem with that. Where do we move on to!?

Flair: What do you mean, Eric?

Bischoff: What do you mean, what do I mean!? We have no TV show!? We have nothing to get our name out there each and every week! We have nothing!

Borden: Then we have to find a way to keep our name out there is.

Bischoff: Don’t you get it, Ric!? Don’t you get it, Steve!? Don’t you understand the trouble we’re in!? Do you not see the chaos that is going to start!? He lost our TV show; we lost Nitro! Without TV, the fans will turn away, the sponsors will turn away, the PPV dealers will turn away! We’ll lose everything, even the wrestlers!

Flair: Don’t be ridiculous, Bischoff, the talent won’t walk!

Bischoff: You wanna bet? The talent wants to work for a safe and secure company, not one without a TV show! The guys are going to want to walk, mark my words!

Flair: I don’t think they’re the only ones who want to talk then, Eric. I think you want to talk too.

There goes Flair again, start drama. Borden knows that Flair’s comment is only going to start drama, so he quickly cuts of Bischoff before he can even make a retort.

Borden: The point is, we can rebound! WCW has been down before, and we’ve always gotten back up. We got knocked down pretty damn hard at the start of the year, but we got back up. Yeah we may have just gotten knocked back down again almost as hard, but we can get back up once again! If we lose talent, we lose talent. The true talent will stay loyal to this company, and we will find a way to keep going.

The room goes silent, Borden having finished what he was saying. Bischoff and Flair think about what Steve just said, pondering what to do next. After almost a minute, Flair speaks.

Flair: Well then, what do you propose we do next?

Borden: I’m not the business guy out of this trio, Eric is. Ask him Ric.

Borden knows he just annoyed Flair with that response, but Steve knows he has to get Flair to ask Eric himself. Building up a better relationship between Flair and Bischoff is a necessity for Steve and WCW. Flair rolls his eyes at Borden, but asks Eric anyways.

Flair: Okay, Eric, what do you suppose we do now?

Bischoff strokes his chin with his hand and thinks. After a few moments, Bischoff comes up with a reply.

Bischoff: Well, there are a few options we can take. We could simply take a hiatus. Stay off-air, stay out of the public eye, and try and get another television deal. Last time, we tried to rebound too quickly, so maybe it would be good if we just took a break for a while, had ourselves a bit of an off-season. This could definitely be a good idea to do.

Flair: What else?

Bischoff: We could go-off air for a while until we can try and get a weekly pay per view agreement with our pay per view providers. Well, no matter what we will be forced to go off-screen for a while. I’m figuring that we’d be off-screen for a full month until we can get a weekly agreement. Doing a weekly pay per view show would be risky however. We can’t count on our viewers to want to pay to watch us each and every week, and the production costs could be very steep. Doing a weekly pay per view will either make us genius for doing such a thing, or it will run this company bankrupt.

Borden: That is really risky, Eric, but it is a very creative idea. You have any other ideas?

Bischoff: Yes, I have one more. We could simply hold monthly pay per view shows. We’d have no TV or anything except for the website to hype the pay per view, but it would still be a way to create revenue. Of course, both the pay per view ideas would only run until we found a new TV show. The main goal is to get a new TV deal.

Flair: Of course it is; we do need TV to keep our public image up.

Borden: Well I guess now the question is, what do we do?

What route should World Championship Wrestling follow?

A) Go on hiatus until a new TV deal is made
B) Try and run weekly pay per view shows starting in July until a new TV deal is made
C) Hold monthly pay per view shows until a new TV deal is made

A) Take a hiatus

I would have said B untill you said it would cost money. Take a break and get everything back together so you won't have to make the same mistake again.
