Great way toopen the show both steiner and jerratt were on top form and if continued this storyline of taking over could be huge bigger than the nwo even.

OK match between adams and konnan tis would never be good though considering the en involved however this seemed alright. i love the way you describe your matches

i enjoyed the segent with morris and storm both men were used brilliantly here especially storm, who came over as the perfect heel you love to hate

i iked the use of aa in the next segment and feel that his promo with flair hyped the match later and the fued with steiner and jerratt well.

Good match by crowbar and chavo with the time they had, i don't like crowbar use as a cruserweight however and i feel a change of charecter could be the best thing for him

The main event was very good and all 4 men were used well. i liked the split screen with anderson and also the interference by awesome. if this is a stable don't use the name of the nwo as this will bring back bad memories for the company.

Overall a really good nitro and should have got a better tv ratting.

8.5/10

please check out my last impact on impacts leading to against all odds

cheers

these shows are getting better and better.

Brilliantly written opening promo, the alliance is extremely entertaining, your on to something here.

i h8 kronik, so i hope da animals win this fued, even if konnan sux.

Storm is an absolute legend, he really deserves this spot! he was so misused in wwe, i hope he becomes a huge star in your wcw!I do quite like Hugh Morrus, he is a talented big man, I like how your using him, and i really think both men are very entertaining in this fued. The real wcw really messed this rivalry up!

Flair and Anderson promo was cool, i liked how both men, especiall Naitch were in character.

Chavo crowbar was a good match, i didnt know crowbar was a cruiserweight, come to think, he is quite high flying so why not?

I loved Mike Awesomes return, he will be great in the alliance, if dats the plan. I liked how they left everyone laying! it looks like theyre the new sherrifs in town!

9/10 great Nitro, come on wcw!

If possible, could ya return my review?

WCW Wednesday Nitro Preview- July 25, 2001

World Championship Wrestling will host its third edition of Wednesday Nitro on NBC this Wednesday night at 10 PM EST, at the Barnhill Arena, in Fayette, Arkansas! Join “The Voice of WCW” Tony Schiavone and “The Professor” Mike Tenay for another action-packed hour of World Championship Wrestling action!

No main event is scheduled for tonight, but Booker T has already declared he will make a challenge to a member in this new faction of Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, Mike Awesome, and Midajah. Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner formed this faction two weeks ago on Nitro, with Mike Awesome joining last week. Awesome made his debut in the faction a big one, putting Ric Flair through the announcer’s table with an Awesome Bomb. It seems that the faction is hell bent on taking out Booker T and Ric Flair, having taken them out the past two shows now. Will this new heel faction continue to dominate WCW this week on Wednesday Nitro, or will Booker T and Ric Flair be able to make a stand? Tune into Nitro to find out!

Although no main event is scheduled, WCW President Eric Bischoff has already scheduled two huge matches for Nitro this week! In singles action, the supposed United States Champion, Hugh Morris, will go one-on-one with The Dog Faced Gremlin, Rick Steiner! Also in tag team action, the former WCW Tag Team Champions Chuck Palumbo and Sean O’Haire do battle with Total Buff, Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger! Also scheduled for Wednesday Nitro is Arn Anderson, Brian Adams, Bryan Clarke, Jeff Jarrett, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, and Scott Steiner! Be sure to tune into Wednesday Nitro this Wednesday night at 10 PM EST, on the number one station for professional wrestling, NBC!

Confirmed Matches:

Chuck Palumbo and Sean O’Haire vs. Total Buff
Hugh Morris vs. Rick Steiner

World Championship Wrestling- Wednesday Nitro

Challenge To Get Started

The Wednesday Nitro theme plays in sequence with the opening video, followed by the opening fireworks going off. The cameras then cut directly to the stage, and the music of Booker T fills up the sound system in the Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Booker T is in his wrestling gear already of white trunks, knee pads, and boots, a fire in his eyes. T gets into the ring, and takes the microphone from ring announcer David Penzer. The crowd, who have been cheering for Booker T ever since his music hits, quiet down so he can speak.

Booker T: Barnhill Arena, are you ready to see some ass whoopin’!?

The crowd pops for Booker T.

Booker T: I hope ya all are ‘cause Booker T is ready ta whoop some ass ta’night!

Booker T earns some more cheers.

Booker T: I don’t wanna whoop just any ass though, oh no, the sucka’s ass I’m gonna kick ta’night, is Mike Awesome!

A good portion of the crowd jeers Mike Awesome.

Booker T: Ya see sucka’s, last week on Wednesday Nitro, me n’ da Naitcha Boy Ric Flair were havin’ ourselves a tag team match against Scott Steiner n’ Jeff Jarrett. Me n’ Ric, we were whoopin’ some ass. Howeva’, Mike Awesome came out of the crowd, took Flair out, took me out, and cost us ‘da match. Ya know, it just couldn’t end there though, now could it? Afta’wards, me n’ Naitch got our asses whooped, and Flair gotta Awesome Bomb through da announcer’s table.

Booker T pauses, an angry flare in his eyes. He starts to speak again, his tone raised, his voice louder.

Booker T: Mike Awesome, ya wanna take out me n’ my boy Ric Flair!? Ya wanna jump outta crowd’s n’ sneak attack brotha’s!? Well how ‘bout ta’night, Awesome, ya fight me one on one, face ta face, in the middle of dis ring I’m standin’ in? I unda’stand what ya did las’ week n’ why ya did it. Don’t hate da playa, hate da game. I can’t hate ya Mike Awesome for attackin’ me and Flair last week, but I can whoop yo ass for it! So c’mon sucka! Fight me!

Booker T waits for answer. He soon gets an appearance by Mike Awesome, but he isn’t alone, Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, and Midajah are with him. The four stand on the entrance stage, with Jarrett holding a microphone.

Jeff Jarrett: Hey, uh, Booker T, where’s The Nature Boy at?

Jeff Jarrett laughs at his “joke”, and chares a cackle with Steiner, Awesome, and Midajah. Booker T looks pissed.

Booker T: He ain’t here sucka! “Double A” Arn Anderson told me before ‘da show started dat Naitch ain’t gonna be here ta’night.

The heel group laugh to themselves again while the crowd boos.

Jarrett: What, you mean, he’s too much of a weak old fool to show his face here tonight? I understand, Booker, really I do; Flair is simply afraid to get his ass kicked by the Chosen One again.

Booker T: Is that so, sucka?

Jarrett: Yeah “sucka”, it is. Ric Flair fears Jeff Jarrett!

Booker T: He sure din’t seem ta fear ya at Slamboree when he kicked yo ass!

The crowd pop big time at the cheek by Booker T. Jarrett’s face grows angry with rage at Booker’s comment, and starts glaring at him. Awesome decides to take the microphone away from Jarrett to avoid a conflict.

Mike Awesome: Hey Booker T, how about you focus on me? Last week, I joined up with a bunch of winners in Big Poppa Pump and The Chosen One, and I kicked the crap out of you and Ric Flair. I mean, I manhandled Ric Flair, and just gave him that Awesome Bomb through the announcer’s table with ease!

Awesome stops and smirks while the crowd jeers him for his comments.

Booker T: Hey sucka, how bout ya stop livin’ in da past, n’ start livin’ in da present. I challenged yo punk ass ta a match ta’night, n’ I’m still waitin’ on an answa’! What do I gotta do ta make ya accept? If ya want, I’ll put the Dubya See Dubya World Title on the line! Just accept, sucka!

Awesome is about to answer Booker T’s challenge, but Scott Steiner grabs the microphone for himself.

Scott Steiner: Why am I not surprised? Once again, Booker T, you’re throwing out World Title matches left and right, but not one of them come my way! I understand that you’re afraid to face me Booker T; you know I could kick your ass any day of the week, any time of the day! Booker T! I want my rematch for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship! You and Eric Bischoff can’t conspire together to keep that belt off of my gorgeous waist forever!

Booker T looks at Steiner, confused, and rolls his eyes.

Steiner: You and I both know you two are refusing to give me a fair, one on one, rematch for the WCW World Heavyweight Title! Booker T, mark my words, sooner or later, you two aren’t gonna be able to plot against me, and I will get my hands on you again! I will face you for the WCW World Heavyweight Title! I will kick your ass! That title is mine!

The veins in Steiner’s body start popping out again; there’s that roid rage of his! Mike Awesome takes back the microphone from Steiner.

Awesome: Big Poppa Pump, brother, you don’t got anything to worry about. Booker T, I am not going to face you tonight for the World Heavyweight Title.

The crowd boos at Awesome, for it seems their match is a no go. Good thing however because if Awesome did win the Title, chances are he’d show up in the WWF the next week with the belt.

Awesome: But I will be glad to kick your ass tonight in a non-title match!

The crowd burst into cheers; its official, Booker T will face Mike Awesome tonight on Nitro!

Booker T: Ight sucka, I’ll see yo punk ass in da main event. But Mike, when I kick yo ass ta’night, remember dis: Don’t hate da playa, hate da game!

Booker T’s music hits, and T stares down the heel stable, who stare back until they leave to go backstage a few moments later. Nitro then goes to a break to end a very long opening segment.

Segment Rating: 73%

*COMMERCIAL BREAK*

When Wednesday Nitro returns from commercial break, the cameras cut to the commentators.

Tony Schiavone: Ladies and gentleman, welcome back to Wednesday Nitro! If you are just joining us, you have just missed a match being made tonight for the main event!

Mike Tenay: Indeed they have, Tony. Booker T has challenged Mike Awesome to a match tonight after Awesome’s actions last week when he allied himself with Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner, and proceeded to assault Booker T and Ric Flair. Mike Awesome took it too far then, giving Flair an Awesome Bomb through our table right here next to us.

Schiavone: Booker T is furious at Mike Awesome for joining this new alliance between Steiner and Jarrett, leading to him making the challenge for tonight.

Tenay: And now tonight in the main event, we will see Booker T go one-on-one with Mike Awesome in a non-title match. But I truly doubt Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett won’t get involved in that match!

Schiavone: Never the less, this main event tonight promises to be one of the biggest main event’s in the history of Wednesday Nitro! But now ladies and gentleman, it is time to shift gears and focus more on the wrestling! Right now, you’re about to see Totally Buff, Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell, team up to take on the former WCW Tag Team Champions, Chuck Palumbo and Sean O’Haire!

Chuck Palumbo & Sean O’Haire vs. Totally Buff (w/Elizabeth)

Erm Tony, I thought you said wrestling? This match was not wrestling; this was a five minute crap fest between two arrogant, over paid, and overrated “talent”, and two rookies who are still green in the ring. Palumbo and O’Haire take a beating for most of this match, not getting in any offense until about the last minute and a half of the match. Totally Buff, like totally, dominate the rest of the match until that point, sluggishly brawling with their opponents of the night. Luger and Bagwell (haggardly) work over Sean O’Haire for most of the match, but O’Haire makes a hot tag to Palumbo after ducking a Lex Luger running lariat, and hitting a horrible looking neck breaker. Tags are made by both men, leading to the hot face (Palumbo) work over both the heels (Totally Buff). O’Haire joins in soon after, and the wild, crap fest continues. O’Haire soon slips up with Luger, missing a clothesline. Luger takes the quick advantage given to him, knocking O’Haire down with a vicious clothesline. Bagwell gets the advantage on Palumbo as well, evading a running avalanche, and hitting a neck breaker. From there, Bagwell got onto the second turnbuckle, and waited for a groggy Palumbo to get to his feet. The Buff Blockbuster finished things off for Palumbo and O’Haire, and Totally Buff gets the win, well, because Luger is Sting’s best friend.

Totally Buff def. Palumbo & O’Haire at 4:28 (Bagwell pins Palumbo)
Star Rating: DUD (61, 65, 55)

Schiavone: What a match, Professor!

Tenay: Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell are long time WCW veterans now, but still prove that they have all the necessary tools to get it done in the ring, Tony. They pick up a very solid win over the former champions here tonight.

Schiavone: Indeed they do, Professor. Well ladies and gentleman, we’re going to keep things rolling along… Hugh Morris versus Rick Steiner is up next!

Hugh Morris vs. Rick Steiner

Ugh, the horrible matches just continue for WCW tonight. Booker T and Mike Awesome better make up for this shit the company is putting out. Honestly, WCW feeds its fans shit matches like this, and the company wonders why USA kicked them off the air! This match is complete crap, featuring five long minutes of nonstop brawling, and botched suplexes. Hugh Morris did put effort into the match, but Steiner was sluggish throughout. He landed the suplexes wrong, making them look horrible, and no-selling them. When suplexing Morris, he almost dropped him on his head a few times. Finally, Morris ended the match, knocking Steiner down with a DDT, and hitting the No Laughing Matter moonsault from the top rope to end things.

Things weren’t over though once the match was, however. Lance Storm came out through the crowd, and jumped Morris from behind. Storm went looking for a cheap shot right away, hitting Morris with the Canadian National Championship title belt in the back of the head! Storm proceeded to lay the boots to Morris briefly, but was forced to stop when Doug Dillinger and his security crew came out to stop the attack. Storm left the ring, but only after he spat on Hugh.

Hugh Morris def. Rick Steiner at 5:01
Star Rating: DUD (63, 71, 45)

Tenay: Hugh Morris picks up a solid win over the Dog Faced Gremlin tonight, but didn’t get any time to celebrate afterwards; Lance Storm attacked him from behind!

Schiavone: Lance Storm is a jerk, Professor! For far too long this man has been cheap shotting WCW workers! Sooner or later, Hugh Morris and Lance Storm will meet one-on-one, face-to-face, in a wrestling ring, and I hope Lance Storm gets hit butt kicked!

Tenay: I hope that happens too, Tony, but we have to take a commercial break. However, don’t go away because coming up next, “Mean” Gene Okerlund will be interviewing KroniK about why they assaulted the Filthy Animals at Slamboree, and Booker T faces Mike Awesome! Stay tuned, right here, on Wednesday Nitro, only on NBC!

*COMMERCIAL BREAK*

Best Tag Team Champions in WCW

When Wednesday Nitro returns, the cameras are focused backstage where “Mean” Gene Okerlund is standing by with the WCW Tag Team Champions, KroniK, Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke.

Gene Okerlund: Welcome back to Wednesday Nitro on NBC! I’m “Mean” Gene Okerlund, and these two men standing beside me are the WCW Tag Team Champions, KroniK, Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke! KroniK, you two won these belts at Slamboree back in May, but that is not what most people remember about Slamboree. The fans of WCW instead best remember how you attacked the Filthy Animals after their Cruiserweight Tag Team Title match against the Yung Dragons. The fans best remember how you injured and hospitalized Rey Misterio Jr., who is still in the hospital right now! Why did you perform such a heinous assault on Misterio Jr., and the Filthy Animals!?

Brian Adams: Mean Gene, you pretty much already answered that question for us.

Okerlund: I did?

Adams: You did.

Bryan Clarke: You see, Mean Gene, me and Brian here, we’re all about cashin’ checks and breakin’ backs. When it is time to step into the ring, me and Brian always get the job done. At Slamboree, we proved that KroniK is indeed the best tag team in WCW today by winning the WCW Tag Team Championship.

Adams: But you see, we still weren’t fully satisfied.

Okerlund: And just why is that? Why was winning the Tag Team Titles not enough for you!? How could that provoke you to assault Rey Misterio Jr.!?

Clarke: Because although we showed to some people that we were the best tag team in WCW today, there still will be some people who think that the Filthy Animals are just as good as KroniK.

Adams: Rey Misterio Jr. and Billy Kidman were carrying around gold that said they were the best cruiserweight tag team champions. The Filthy Animals had gold saying they were the best tag team in WCW.

Clarke: But the thing is, KroniK is the best tag team in WCW. Not the Filthy Animals. Not both team either, just KroniK. The Filthy Animals being the Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions makes us have to share the honor of being called ‘best tag team in WCW’. We don’t like to, nor do we want to, share.

Adams: And we’re not going to share that honor either, Mean Gene. Me and Bryan are the best damn tag team in WCW today! Rey Misterio and Billy Kidman may be the best tag team in midget land, but this ain’t no midget land. This is where the big boys play!

Clarke: And the big boys are superior to the midget’s. We had to prove that, though. We had to take out the Filthy Animals, and show that KroniK is the real number one tag team in WCW.

Adams: And at Souled Out in August, we want to prove it once again.

Okerlund: What are you talking about!?

Clarke: We want to face off against the Filthy Animals in a winner takes all match! KroniK versus the Filthy Animals, with the winners being named the sole WCW Tag Team Champions, and the best tag team in WCW today!

Okerlund: You guys want to unify the tag team titles!? But how are you going to be able to do that if Rey Misterio Jr. isn’t able to compete still by Souled Out!?

Adams: Well then we simply challenge Konnan to be a man and take his “amigo’s” place. If Misterio can’t compete, then tough crap. Bottom line, at Souled Out, KroniK and the Filthy Animals are going to unify the tag team titles, and we’re all going to find out who the best tag team is!

Clarke: That best tag team, is us, KroniK! Filthy Animals, the challenge is set boys, two of you versus KroniK, winner’s are the sole WCW Tag Team Champions!

KroniK stare into the camera, but then walk off as the camera shifts back to the ring.

Segment Rating: 67%

Schiavone: Oh my goodness! KroniK versus The Filthy Animals at Souled Out in a Tag Team Championship Unification Match!? Professor, that match would be huge! Just think of the importance that match would hold if the Animals accept the challenge!

Tenay: KroniK has issued the challenge, and knowing the Filthy Animals like I do, I am sure they will accept the challenge!

Schiavone: But just who would it be accepting the challenge? Will it be Billy Kidman and Konnan, or Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio Jr.?

Tenay: I don’t know the answer to that question since Rey Misterio Jr. is still apparently in the hospital. However, I do know something else, Tony.

Schiavone: What’s that, Professor?

Tenay: It is time for the main event!

Booker T vs. Mike Awesome (w/Midajah)

It’s time for the main event… hopefully this match can make up for the horrible matches earlier on the card. Awesome is out first, Midajah coming out with him. During Awesome’s entrance, we get a split screen, showing Awesome’s entrance, as well as showing Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett watching backstage on a monitor. Booker T is out, and the match is on. Thankfully, Booker T and Mike Awesome are able to put on a decent match, even though it consists mainly of brawling. Booker lays into Awesome in the early goings, simply beating the crap out of him with a continuous flurry of right hands, selling the fact that he is pissed at Awesome because of last week. Awesome fights back however, using his sheer size advantage to over power Booker T. Awesome slammed and tossed Booker around the ring, looking like a total bad ass as he just annihilates the World Champion. Awesome continued to work over Booker until about the five minute mark, but his onslaught ended when Booker T was able to fight off an attempted Awesome Bomb, reversing with a back body drop.

Booker T started to gain momentum after reversing the Awesome Bomb, laying into Awesome again with a flurry of rights. Booker keeps his offense going with just right hands, but finally changes things up, hitting Awesome with his trade mark Harlem Side Kick. The HSK knocked Awesome right over the top rope to the outside of the ring by the announcer’s table. Booker T got out of the ring as well, and looked to continue his beating on Awesome. Things turned sour for Booker T however as soon as he got outside of the ring. Book tried to attack Awesome right away upon getting to the outside of the ring, but Mike was ready, landing an elbow to the gut, followed by a stiff elbow to the face. Awesome went on the offensive again, whipping Booker T into the steel ring post. Awesome then looked at the announcer’s table and back at Booker T. Awesome dragged T over to the table, and attempted an Awesome Bomb through the table. Booker fought it off the best he could, however, staying on the ground. Awesome tried a double sledge to Booker to give him the time to Awesome Bomb him, but no dice. Finally, Awesome had enough. Mike shoved Booker T away from him, only to connect with a field goal style kick straight to the groin! Booker T keeled over, and that was enough for Mike Awesome to Awesome Bomb Booker T straight through the announcer’s table! And the Awesome Bomb was enough for referee Nick Patrick to disqualify Awesome, awarding the match to Booker T.

Booker T defeats Mike Awesome by DQ at 7:18
Star Rating: ** (80, 81, 78)

Enforcing Nature

Mike Awesome just took out Booker T! Booker T was just put through the announcer’s table by an Awesome Bomb! Booker T is lying in a crumbled heap on the ground with the remains on the announcer’s table. Mike Awesome doesn’t appear to be done however, as he picks Booker T up to his feet, and rolls him under the bottom rope into the ring. Mike gets up onto the ring apron, and calls out to the backstage. Just a few moments later, and Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner are walking down the ring entrance aisle, cocky and smug looks on their faces. The two men join Awesome on the ring apron, and all three men then get into the ring. The three heels circle Booker T, who is slowly attempting to get to his feet. Booker gets onto his hands and knees, but Steiner lands a vicious kick to the ribs of Booker T, prompting him to fall down onto his belly on the canvas. From there, the heel trio started to lay the boots to Booker T, stomping him into the canvas repeatedly. The stomping stops soon after however, as Mike Awesome decides to pull Booker T to his feet. Awesome runs off the ropes and back at the groggy Booker T, who I shaving difficulty standing on his own two feet, and connects with the Roaring Elbow to Booker T! Before Booker can fall down however, Jarrett grabs him from behind, and plants him with The Stroke! Jarrett and Awesome stand tall celebrating their attack, while Steiner stands over the fallen Booker T. Steiner calls for it, and then locks it in- The Steiner Recliner! Big Poppa Pump starts choking out the barely conscious Booker T, trying to finish the job on the World Heavyweight Champion. Booker T is just about choked out from the Steiner Recliner, when the crowd erupts because…

“Sprach Zarathustra” hit the sound system in the Barnhill, Arena, bringing out The Nature Boy, Ric Flair and The Enforcer, Arn Anderson, both wielding steel chairs! The crowd is going absolutely nuts! Double A and Ric Flair march down the entrance aisle towards the ring, as Double J and Awesome sell Flair’s appearance like crazy. Steiner simply keeps the Recliner locked in, yelling at Jarrett and Awesome to deal with “the two old farts”. Double A and Flair get onto the ring apron, and start swinging the steel chairs like madmen, forcing Jarrett and Awesome to back off a bit. Flair and Double A get into the ring and start swinging their steel chair’s again, and Jarrett and Awesome quickly flee the ring! Realizing his back-up has left him, Steiner releases the Recliner and tries to flee the ring, but Flair latches onto Big Poppa Pump’s ankle! Flair spins Steiner around towards Arn Anderson, who decks him with a right hand! Steiner staggers backwards a bit, and Flair sends him over the top rope with a clothesline! The heels retreat up the aisle towards the backstage while Flair and Anderson help Booker T up to his feet, who is slightly bleeding from the nose and forehead. The three faces stand tall in the ring with the crowd cheering for them as Wednesday Nitro comes to a close.

Segment Rating: 89%

Schiavone: Thank God for Ric Flair and Arn Anderson! Thank God Almighty!

Tenay: Thank God indeed, Tony! Booker T is one tough son of a gun, but he cannot fight off the cheap tactics of Mike Awesome, and a three on one assault. No man can! Jeff Jarrett, Mike Awesome, and Scott Steiner especially are out to destroy Booker T!

Schiavone: Their actions were absolutely despicable tonight, Professor!

Tenay: Indeed they were, Tony. This unit of Jarrett, Steiner, and Awesome are out to destroy Booker T and Ric Flair, and basically control World Championship Wrestling. Tonight, Ric Flair wasn’t scheduled to be in the building, so they went out and tried to get rid of Booker T.

Schiavone: But thankfully, Ric Flair and Arn Anderson did show up, and saved Booker T before he was destroyed by those three savages. Well ladies and gentleman, that is going to end things here on WCW Wednesday Nitro. Be sure to tune in next week to Nitro, same time, same channel, NBC, the number one station for professional wrestling! For Mike Tenay, I’m Tony Schiavone, see you next week!

TV Rating: 2.25

Challenge To Get Started-Good opening promo to kick of the show with Booker T going to go one-on-one with Mike Awesome later tonight.

Chuck Palumbo & Sean O’Haire vs. Totally Buff (w/Elizabeth)-It was almost certain this would be a DUD since Chuck and Sean are not up there yet and almost every match with Lex Lugar and Buff Bagwell gets a * or a little more of a rating.

Hugh Morris vs. Rick Steiner-Wow it's just isn't your day with another boring DUD match.

Best Tag Team Champions in WCW-A good promo with KroniK basicialy saying they are the best.

Booker T vs. Mike Awesome (w/Midajah)-A 3 star was what I was hoping for ,but only a 2. Still a good rating overall for the match though as the fans were into it. Good ending to the match with Awesome getting DQ'ed by giving Booker T the Awesome Bomb through the table.

Enforcing Nature-Good ending to the show with Arn Anderson and Ric Flair making the save.

I have a question.

Is your WCW national or global?

This end of the month report should answer your question ChainGangRed.

WCW End of the Month Report- July

News and Rumors

Quote:
~NBC is apparently quite happy with the ratings Wednesday Nitro has been getting since debuting on the network July, 11. The debut episode garnered only a 2.11 rating, but both the July 18, and July 25, editions of Wednesday Nitro gained a rating of 2.25. NBC is very thrilled with the 2.25 rating, seeing as they believe that is the highest rating a show will receive at that time slot. It is being rumored that if WCW continues to have successful ratings like they have had so far, NBC will bump Nitro up to a two hour time slot from 9 to 11 PM. If the move to primetime does occur, it is rumored it will happen after the September PPV, Fall Brawl, or possibly after Souled Out, the August PPV.

~ Speaking of Souled Out, the name for the August pay per view was originally Big Bang, but the company has now decided to go with a more recognized WCW pay per view name in Souled Out. Souled Out will be held live in Miami, Florida, on August, 26. The rumored main event is Booker T versus Scott Steiner for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

~Rick Steiner appears to be in the dog house. Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, and Steve “Sting” Borden are quite unhappy with Rick Steiner’s performance at Slamboree against Jim Duggan. The owners found the match to be absolutely horrible, and were appalled by Steiner’s lack of respect of Duggan in the match, stiffing him throughout the whole entire match. Steiner was scheduled to be involved in the triple threat main event at Slamboree, playing a part in the finish, but that was scratched after his dismal match with Duggan. The Dog Faced Gremlin was also scheduled to be the third man in the new heel faction involving Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, and Mike Awesome. However, that idea was also scratched, and Mike Awesome is now getting that slot. Speaking of Awesome, management has been thrilled with Mike Awesome’s performance in the stable thus far, and has high hopes for Awesome down the road as a future World Champion.

~World Championship Wrestling and former ECW star CW Anderson has agreed to a deal. CW Anderson was supposed to tour in Japan, but decided to sign with WCW instead. Anderson apparently signed with the company right after the first Wednesday Nitro on NBC aired, and has been working in the Power Plant since. A debut date has not been stated yet, although Anderson is expected to debut within the month of August. CW is expected to debut with the Anderson name, so one must wonder if he will have any allegiance with Arn Anderson and Ric Flair.

~Several contracts are going to be expiring within the next two to three months. The contracts’ of Air Paris, Billy Kidman, Chavo Guerrero Jr., and Jim Duggan are all close to expiring. No interest has been shown in resigning Air Paris or Jim Duggan, but WCW is already trying to work out deals with Kidman and Guerrero. Some might wonder what will happen to AJ Styles if Paris’ contract isn’t renewed. It is speculated that Styles will just be released as well.

~The feud involving Booker T & Ric Flair against Jeff Jarrett, Mike Awesome, and Scott Steiner is getting great “reviews” from the writers and booking staff in WCW. The crowd has been red hot when events involving the feud take place on Nitro, and are really starting to look at Awesome, Jarrett, and Steiner as three mega-heels in the company. The three owners of WCW haven’t let anything about this feud be leaked out to the internet, so it seems that there are big plans for this feud. So far, it is rumored for Booker T and Steiner to wrestle at Souled Out, and possibly Flair versus Jarrett as well, with Awesome just sitting on the sidelines for the event. Another rumored match has been Arn Anderson & Ric Flair teaming up to take on Jeff Jarrett & Mike Awesome, though the match is nothing more than a rumor. Arn Anderson is not physically capable of wrestling a professional wrestling match anymore, although he is trying to heal from his botched neck surgery so he can possibly wrestle one or two more matches.

~Sting is scheduled to be returning to WCW TV in the near future. Sting, who is 1/3 owner of WCW, hasn’t been seen on WCW TV since March 26, 2001, the very last Monday Nitro on TNT. Steve Borden, the man behind the Stinger paint, has been off-screen, waiting for an upcoming angle to be involved with. The angle/feud Sting is scheduled to be a part of has been kept under wraps by the owners of WCW, but one rumor making the rounds is a feud between Sting and Kevin Nash, or Ric Flair. Those are just rumors, and could very possibly be untrue.

~Bischoff, Borden, and Flair are continuing to make peace with the older stars of World Championship Wrestling. Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Randy Savage, and Roddy Piper have all been backstage at the past two Wednesday Nitro’s. Piper and Savage were backstage two weeks ago, and Hogan and Nash were backstage last week. Savage was mainly visiting friends, while Piper was hanging out with everybody. Hogan and Nash were friendly with everyone as well, and have been rumored to have been talking with the three owners about possibly returning to WCW in the future. It seems like the owners have indeed made peace with Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash now.
