Paul Heyman & Extreme Championship Wrestling is in HUGE trouble, with financial debts getting ever so higher & higher it looks like ECW is over. A man named John Collins calls up Paul Heyman after Guilty as Charged. Collins offers to be Heyman's financial backer. Collins offers Heyman 460K for 50% of ECW. Heyman would be the head booker and only worry about wrestling as Collins will do all the financial aspects. Heyman agrees worked out a deal to air on PBS weekly at 12am to 2am.

Andrew McManus has bought WCW right from under the nose of the WWF for 1 million dollars. McManus has contacted Travel Channel to air their show Nitro on Wednesday nights at 8pm to 10pm. McManus let everyone sit out the rest of their contracts and renegotiated only the select few that he wanted. Jeff Jarrett, Stevie Ray, Norman Smiley, Crowbar, Lenny Lane, Lodi, Buff Bagwell, Disco Inferno, Konnan, Juventud Guerrera, and Psicosis are returning. All stars were informed not to reveal any information to anyone or their would be strict legal reprocusions.

ECW Inaugural Show

Match # 1: New Jack vs Devito. This is your typical ECW New Jack brawl. New Jack pins Devito after a blood bath to open the show. Winner: New Jack. After the match Devito beats Jack up and says he isn’t done with him yet.

Match # 2: Christian York and Joey Matthews vs Chris Chetti and Danny Doring. Chetti hits Matthews with a bowling pin to pick up the victory. Winners: Chris Chetti and Danny Doring.

Match # 3: Buff Bagwell vs Jack Victory (w/ Steve Corino). Bagwell is only here for this show as he is not contracted to WCW yet. Bagwell ends up getting the win with the Buff Blockbuster. Winner: Buff Bagwell.

Match # 4: Prince Justice (w/ Rob Williams) vs Chris Hamrick (w/ Julio DeNiro). Justic is Abyss before he was Abyss. Hamrick cuts a heel I hate everyone promo. Hamrick wins with a school boy. Winner: Chris Hamrick. After the match a brawl breaks out with all 4 men and Public Enemy and FBI join in.

Match # 5: The Public Enemy vs The F.B.I. This is a falls count anywhere match. This is a brawl with lots of chair shots. Rock pins Mamaluke to finish this one. Winners: Public Enemy. After the match, Guido shoves Mamaluke and TENSION begins to occur. They’ve settled their differences and Guido raises Mamaluke’s arm! Guido lays Mamaluke out in anger and walks off to the back.

Main Event: The Sandman vs Sabu (w/ Bill Alfonso) vs Mike Rotunda vs Gary Wolfe. Alfonso gets on the mic before the match and runs down Heyman for destroying ECW. Lots of brawling happens on the outside. This is a match of mindless violence. Sandman is bleeding very early on. ECW chant breaks out as Rotunda uses cardboard as a weapon. Sabu pins Wolfe for the first elimination. He then takes a nasty piledriver from Sandman on glass. Rotunda is eliminated after a Sandman Heinekenrana off the balcony. Now it's down to Sabu and Sandman. After a Arabian Skullcrusher through a table from Sabu to Sandman, Paul Heyman hops up on the ring apron to distract the ref. This allowed New Jack to sneak in and staple Sabu in the face for Sandman to pick up the win. Winner: Sandman. After the match, Alfonso gets on the microphone. He challenges Jack to a ladder match next month with a staple gun hanging above the ring.

The premiere episode of WCW's new Nitro, kids-oriented TV show started with a standard intro video highlighting WCW’s most recognizable stars. New WCW Owner Andrew McManus takes over our screen with the WCW Championship in his arms. McManus hypes that he has brought back Starrcade which will be on Nov 16th live on PPV. He talks about how this is a kid freindly half hour show but the PPV's will not be as family freindly. He says the proof will be in the main event at Starrcade which will be Road Dogg taking on Jeff Jarrett in a steel cage match to crown the WCW Champion. McManus then says the AOL/Time Warner contracts that Bischoff signed have been negoiated out and we will start from scratch.

Nitro girls come out and do some dancing.

News Update

Paul Heyman has used every contact he could think of to keep ECW alive but with no TV deal nobody is biting. Vince McMahon is in talks with Paul to buy ECW but Paul doesn't want to sell to Vince.

WCW has gotten their TV deal shorten to only a half hour weekly on the travel channel. With no big names signed to the company the execs at the Travel channel are worried about their ratings. WCW is hoping that the half hour and PPV can keep them afloat long enough to sign a big name but the money is not there yet.

Speaking of WCW they are in talks with bring in some new talent. Brian Lawler looks to be the target but they are still ways away from reaching any kind of deal.

WCW Nitro
10/26/2001
Adelaide, Australia
Hosts: Jeremy Borash and Jerry Lawler

Andrew McManus starts us off with reciting of a prepared statement, telling us about the excitement and surprises we’ll be seeing in WCW. Blink 182 does a live cover of the new WCW theme song.

Main Event: Crowbar vs Norman Smiley. Smiley with wiggle and he hits the Norman Conquest for the submission. Winner @ 10:04 Norman Smiley. After the match, Smiley brings some of the younger members of the WCW crowd into the ring to dance. Jerry Lawler gets up and joins in on the party.

Andrew McManus comes out to hype up Starrcade a little bit more. He is pleased to be adding Nathan Jones to the PPV. His opponent will be Disco Inferno. McManus then says on next weeks show Jones will be in tag action.

To end the show we get Road Dog training video.

News Update

Paul Heyman is in strong negotiations with a group that is will to back ECW. All we no at this moment is that it is a very substantial deal. Paul would be the writer of ECW and running the company. The other party would be the producers and talent relations. The only drawback is no TV deal.

WCW's ratings are not doing what the Travel Channel has been expecting. Travel has given WCW notice that they have been canceled after the Nov. 9th episode. Andrew McManus has said he is still going to keep WCW around and run events internationally. When asked about why he has said because that is what's missing in this business right now. McManus is hoping to get a TV deal again in the future but as of now will run some PPVs.

Hey there, just some feedback for you.

- In 2000-2001 Heyman was trying to sell Billy Corgan 10% of ECW for I believe a million dollars. This mysterious John Collins chap managing to buy half of ECW for 460k isn't exactly realistic. He worked out a two hour TV deal? That was quick.

- WCW for a million dollars is very low. WWE paid 3 million for WCW and before that I believe Bischoff was paying some huge figure like 50-60 million dollars for WCW.

- First ECW show doesn't explain much. For example, why does Collins feel that Buff Bagwell should be in ECW? ECW fans would despise Buff Bagwell. Sabu, Public Enemy and Mike Rotunda all randomly debuting/returning for no reason isn't good either. I'm okay with those guys being there but build to it via story line and compelling angles.

- Nitro return has just one match? I understand Nitro is now thirty minutes but on a thirty minute show surely we're looking at 2-3 matches. Why is Nitro 30 minutes anyway? In real life I imagine if WCW had gotten a TV deal they'd have done 2 hours. Also, where is Thunder? Thunder despite doing poorly ratings wise for Turner would have found a new home on a smaller network also.

- I actually live in Wollongong so it was cool to see it pop up here although I imagine you're just using the buildings that the WWA used back in 2001. Wollongong arena isn't really suited for a big live international TV show but I can't fault you for that. By looking at the arena we have here you'd assume that it could host such a thing.

The idea I had for WCW was basically the WWA but to better results. To be honest I feel I rushed into everything instead of slowly build up to the TV deals like I wanted to. WCW and ECW both just bought the name and nothing else. All the contracts and TV deals and everything were not included. Nitro being a half hour was just to be a highlight show and showcase a few talent guys. I promise this is just the start I will have everything situated by the time I do 2002. Thank you for the feedback it is always welcomed.

ECW Inaugural Show #2
11/13/2001
Philadelphia, PA
Host: Joey Styles
Joey Styles is in the ring and tells us the backstory of ECW. He emphasizes that the company was never meant to compete with the WWE but rather to offer an alternative. Joey says ECW is not about prima donnas. The Demon comes out with Kiss and they are excited to be in ECW. Kiss performs the new ECW opening song live. Styles then goes in to talk how exciting it is that ECW is back thanks to the new backers that Paul Heyman has found after their last one ran off with all their money. Joey then brings out the new ECW backers Jimmy Hart, Brian Knobbs and Greg Valentine. Hart gives us the usual WE ARE THE FUTURE AND ALL ABOUT THE WRESTLERS speech that every wrestling promotion gives on its first show. Hart says they have all appointed Brian Knobbs as the ECW commish. Knobbs talks about how he has seen alot of his friends get ruined by this business so he is glad to do this for his friends. He puts over the ECW stars of yesteryear and today. Knobbs is glad to be working with Hart, Valentine and Heyman. Heyman is in charge of the office while he is in charge of the wrestlers. It’s an independence day for wrestling.

Demon responds to the chants basically turning him heel. Devito blocks the Demon Sniper and lands a moonsault. Gene Simmons pops up on the apron to distract Devito. Demon blasts Devito with a chair to win the match. Winner: The Demon.

Paul Heyman comes out and announces ECW will invade Florida on Friday. Heyman says the main event will see Devito vs New Jack vs Sabu in a three way dance.

Match 3: Don Harris (w/ Ron Harris) vs Rob Williams (w/ Prince Justice). This is just a brawl. Williams beats on Don with a chair. They brawl through the crowd and break a wall in the building. At one point Williams teases that he’s going to climb a ladder and instead just shoves it over onto Don. Don ends up fighting back and sets Williams up on a table. He hits an elbow drop for the three. Winner: Don Harris.

Jimmy Hart is out to announce that on Friday they have just booked a huge tag team match. Public Enemy will face York and Matthews.

Match 4: Chris Harris vs Josh Matthews. Matthews gets a chair and hits the Rock spot hurting himself. Jasmine St Claire comes out to ringside and Harris doesn't like it. Harris tells the ref to watch her and she jumps up on the apron. She ends up hitting the ref with a trash can lid. Blue Meanie slides into the ring and hits a superkick on Harris. Matthews wakes up the ref. He then hits a stunner on the ref. Meanie gets back in and hits another move on Harris and sets up a table. Meanie hits a moonsault off the top on Harris. The ref wakes up and counts the three for Matthews. Winner: Josh Matthews. After the match Meanie and Jasmine invite Matthews to hang with them.

Alice Cooper comes out and cuts a promo on how much he likes ECW. Cooper takes a seat at ringside as ECW girls dance for him in the ring.

Match 5: Carly Colon vs Tony Mamaluke. We get moonsaults and monkeyflips and every other counter you can think of. Little Guido makes his way out and does alot of interfering. Mamaluke hits a splash. The ref gets to five on a choke hold and forcefully removes Colon. The match begins to get a boring chant mostly because of the lack of weapons used. Lion sault gets Mamaluke a 2 count. Eventually Mamaluke goes for a tope con hilo to the outside through a table but Colon moves. Backcracker gets Colon the win. Winner: Carly Colon.

Little Guido gets in the ring after the match and issues Mamaluke a challenge. Mamaluke gets up and chases Guido off. Mamaluke talks about how the F.B.I got shortchanged in the old ECW and accepts Guido's challenge.

Match 6: Blue Meanie (w/ Jasmine St. Claire) vs Barry Horowitz. Horowitz comes out yelling at the crowd being the heel. Meanie with control early on connecting with a back body drop. Horowitz can not get anything going. Horowitz with a whiplash type of move, and a flying forearm smash to gain control. Horowitz with a straight jacket reverse DDT on Meanie. Horowitz misses a springboard moonsault from the apron into the ring. Running bulldog by Meanie for near fall. Russian leg sweep by Orion. Chris Harris comes out and kidnaps Jasmine St Claire. Meanie chases him and the two come brawling back out as Horowitz wins by countout. Winner: Barry Horowitz by CO. Harris hits Meanie with some chairshots to the head. The brawl spills into the ring, and referees and security hit the ring to break it up.

Match 7: Mike Rotunda, Rockin Rebel & Buddy Lee Parker vs The Kingpins & Billy Reil. Before the match Parker grabs the mic and puts him, Rebel, and Rotunda over as being the best. Rebel cuts a promo saying he is better than everyone because he is the man that holds ECW's State approval contract. Kingpins get in the ring and announce their partner Reil. The match starts with some basic grappling. It only lasts for a moment though before Reil throws Rotunda out and Kingpins whips him on the outside. REBEL THEN HITS A TOP ROPE TOPE TO THE OUTSIDE ONTO EVERYONE. The crowd brawl begins. Everyone gets busted open. Eventually they fight over to the crows nest by the ramp and Kingpins get thrown off through a table with tons of pizza on it. Reil gets a mic and yells at Kingpins to get up. Rotunda takes a nasty fall off a ladder to the outside. Rebel finds a staple gun under the ring and brings that into play. Everything breaks down and Parker gets his head stapled. Kingpins get a double superkick on Rotunda and Rebel. That allows Reil to steal a pin on Rebel for the win. Winners: Kingpins & Billy Reil. After the match The Harris Brothers run out to save Rotunda, Rebel and Parker. Brothers clear house of Kingpins and Reil. Harris' help them up but the three shove them off. Kingpins grab the mic and tell the Harris Bros that they may not be ten feet tall but on Friday they will fight the Brothers like they are ten feet tall and 800 lbs. Harris Brothers says that's fine with them because they are here to fight. Everybody starts to brawl.

Main Event: Sabu (w/ Bill Alfonso) vs AJ Styles vs Roadkill. Triangle lock up, Sabu goes to work on both opponents. Styles and Roadkill go to work on Sabu in the corner. Sabu goes to work on Styles on the floor. Roadkill sends Sabu in to the guard railing. Sabu drops Roadkill and Styles onto a ladder set up on the guard railing. Styles drops Sandman on his side, onto the ladder, with Roadkill again sending Sabu into Styles. Roadkill with a head scissors, Styles with a figure four on Sabu at the same time. Roadkill and Styles proceed to drop the ladder to the floor, onto Sabu. Roadkill with his belt begins to choke Sabu. Roadkill hangs Sabu over the top rope, while Styles delivers a few chair shots to the ribs. Styles rolls into the ring and hits Roadkill over the back with the chair, ending that brief partnership.
