Here's the first show, a little later than anticipated, but oh well. Enjoy!
May 27, 2015; Winter Park, FL
The show begins with a video package recapping NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, showing Hideo Itami defeating Finn Bálor and Tyler Breeze in a Triple Threat match to become the number-one contender to the NXT Championship, Blake and Murphy retaining the NXT Tag Team Championship against Colin Cassady and Enzo Amore after interference from Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks retaining the NXT Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch, and finally Kevin Owens fighting Sami Zayn to a no contest for the NXT Championship after the match was stopped following a Pop-up Powerbomb by Owens into the ring apron, continuing to assault Zayn and even headbutting General Manager William Regal, before a message appeared for Owens on the big screen, reading: “Joe is coming”.
After that, the opening credits play and the camera cuts into Full Sail University, where the fans are chanting “NXT!”. Rich Brennan welcomes us to the show, hot off the heels of TakeOver.
***FIGHT*** The NXT Champion Kevin Owens walks out, getting a mixed reaction from the crowd. Wearing a ‘KO’ shirt and black pants with his title over his shoulder, Owens slowly walks down the ramp and steps into the ring, taking a microphone before walking into the middle of the squared circle.
Last week at TakeOver…
Owens pauses, noticing the noise that the crowd is making, and waits for them to quieten.
Last week at TakeOver… I did exactly what I said I was going to do. I made good on my promise… and once and for all… I destroyed Sami Zayn.
Boos from the crowd.
And I made sure… that Sami will never
set foot in a NXT ring ever again.
More boos from the crowd.
But as much as I’d like to reminisce about last week… I didn’t come out here tonight to talk about Sami Zayn. Sami Zayn is in the past, where he belongs. After all, the future is now in NXT, and my future… is doing exactly what I did to Sami last week to Hideo Itami when I defend my NXT Championship against him.
Mixed reaction from the crowd.
Y’see, two weeks ago, I was in the back watching the show just like everybody else… and Hideo Itami, just like Finn Bálor, just like Tyler Breeze, was asked if he would rather face Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn for the NXT Championship. And without hesitation, without even having to think about it, Hideo said he’d rather face me, purely because according to Hideo… I’m a (airquotes)
Owens rubs his jaw, smirking.
And lo and behold, last week at TakeOver, Hideo defeated Finn Bálor and Tyler Breeze, and became the number-one contender to the NXT Championship!
Cheers from the crowd.
Now I know that the English language isn’t your strong suit, Hideo… but I know that what you said wasn’t a mistake, and now that you’re my next challenger… you’re gonna have to pay for it. Because number one… nobody in their right mind should want to step into this ring with me, because everybody that has
stepped into this ring with me… has gotten hurt.
A brief "kill, Owens, kill!" chant starts up.
And number two… from day one, since the day I came to NXT, I made it crystal clear that I do this for my family, so my wife and two kids can have the life they deserve, and I’ve proven that I will do whatever it takes to give that to them. So when somebody says that I’m a “bad person”, when somebody questions my integrity, I take it pretty damn personally! What I did to Sami Zayn? That wasn’t even personal… so just imagine what I can do to you
Mixed reaction from the crowd.
Last week, I fought Sami for this NXT Championship, and now he’s never going to set foot in this ring again. And after the day comes when we fight for this NXT Championship, Hideo… neither are you.
Mixed reaction from the crowd.
Oh, and before I leave, one more thing, I almost forgot. As far as “Joe is coming” goes…
Big pop from the crowd.
… if you are who I think you are, Joe… then I never had you down as the type to play mind games. But hey, I don’t blame ya’ for taking your time. So whenever you do
decide to show up… I’ll be right here waitin’ for ya’, bud.
With that, Owens goes to leave the ring… ***REGALITY*** when the General Manager, William Regal, walks out! Looking in a foul mood, Regal storms down to the ring and takes a microphone, getting in Owens’ face straight away.
Were you planning on explaining what the bloody hell the matter with you was last week?!
Owens looks puzzled as to what Regal is talking about.
What is there to explain?
Have you lost your mind, sunshine?! Not only did you refuse to stop your assault on Sami Zayn, you headbutted your General Manager! I ought to strip you of that NXT Championship right now!
Not looking fazed one bit, Owens glances at his title over his shoulder.
However… that is a measure I shall not
Mixed reaction from the crowd, as Owens laughs.
The NXT Universe wants to see Kevin Owens defend the NXT Championship against Hideo Itami, and that’s exactly what they’re going to get!
Cheers from the crowd.
But that does not mean that you won’t face consequences for your actions last week, Kevin. And it is with that in mind that I inform you that next week, you’re going to have a match!
More cheers from the crowd, as Owens looks content with that announcement.
You need to be taught a lesson, so in our main event next week on NXT, it will be the NXT Champion, Kevin Owens, going one on one with… ME!
Huge cheers from the crowd, as Owens smirks.
With all due respect, Mr. Regal, that is a… really
bad idea. You’re healthy, you’ve got a great job, and if you wanna put that at risk just to teach me a lesson, then go ahead. But that's exactly what Alex Riley tried to do when he left that announce table to fight me, and look where he is now! And y’know what? Headbutting you last week… felt pretty damn good. And it was exactly what happens to people who put their hands on me, which by the way, is what you did, so if you ask me, you had it coming.
The camera focuses on the look of sheer disdain on Regal's face.
But as far as people who step into the ring with me goes… that’s a whole different story. Because if you think I hurt you last week… then you have no idea
… what you’ve got coming next
Owens drops the microphone and winks at a scowling Regal, before leaving the ring as his music hits.
***SUPERHUMAN*** The lights go out in the arena and spotlights beam down on the stage as Baron Corbin walks out, getting a mixed reception from the crowd. Corbin makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring, taking a microphone.
Last week at TakeOver… I showed Rhyno and the entire NXT Universe… that there is only one
unstoppable force in NXT.
Mixed reaction from the crowd.
And if there’s anybody left that doubts that… then whoever they are, they can come down to this ring right now… and find out for themselves.
Corbin drops the microphone and waits for somebody to answer his challenge… ***MASS APPEAL*** and after several moments, SOLOMON CROWE walks out with a microphone!
Baron, Baron, Baron. I know what you’re thinking, big guy, and yeah, you already beat me two weeks ago… but that doesn’t mean for a second that I don’t think I can beat you! So what do you say we pick up where we left off?!
The crowd cheer as Crowe removes his jacket, drops his microphone and sprints down the ramp, entering the ring and immediately taking the fight to Corbin!
1 - Baron Corbin
vs. Solomon Crowe
Crowe catches Corbin off guard at the start of the match and gets in a lot of early offense, but Corbin soon shuts him down and takes control of the contest. Crowe doesn’t back down an inch though, and does some damage at every opportunity afforded to him, but unfortunately for ‘The Honey Badger’ there aren’t many opportunities against Corbin. Crowe manages to avoid being hit by the End of Days when Corbin goes for it, but afterwards he is clotheslined over the top rope and out of the ring by ‘The Lone Wolf’.
Corbin hits Crowe with some open-handed chops up against the guardrail on the outside, before lifting him onto his shoulder and charging towards the steel ringpost, looking to send Crowe face-first into it, but at the last second Crowe slips off Corbin’s shoulder and pushes him into the ringpost! Crowe then grabs a groggy Corbin by the head, and throws him into the guardrail! With the referee having just counted seven, Crowe rolls back into the ring as Corbin recovers on the outside. Corbin slowly moves towards the ring, but before he can get back in the ring, the referee reaches the count of ten! Solomon Crowe wins via countout!
Winner via countout - Solomon Crowe @ 4:24.
He did it! Crowe gets to his feet and has his hand raised by the referee to loud cheers from the crowd, having just defeated Corbin, albeit via countout. Crowe’s post-match celebration doesn’t last very long though, as Corbin enters the ring, charges forward and flattens Crowe with a big boot! The crowd boo, as Corbin unloads on Crowe with stomps before lifting him back to his feet. Before he can proceed any further… ***TUSK*** RHYNO COMES RUNNING DOWN TO THE RING!
The crowd explodes with cheers as Corbin drops Crowe and faces the onslaught of Rhyno, who slides into the ring and immediately unloads on Corbin with right hands! Corbin fights back with rights of his own, and the two powerhouses go at it in the ring, until Rhyno eventually forces Corbin backwards into the ropes, charges forward, AND CLOTHESLINES CORBIN OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT OF THE RING! Corbin gets to his feet, and after seeing Rhyno standing tall and Crowe now on his feet, he elects to make his departure, albeit with a scowl on his face. Rhyno then grabs Crowe’s hand and raises it in the air to cheers from the crowd as the victor’s music hits.
In a post-match interview from NXT: TakeOver Unstoppable last week, Renee Young is stood with Bayley and Charlotte.
Bayley, Charlotte, earlier tonight at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, you defeated Dana Brooke and Emma. How are you guys feeling?
I feel great right now, Renee. You know how I feel about Emma, and it’s about time that Dana found out what it was like to lose.
Charlotte nods in agreement.
All I want now is to get Emma one-on-one in that ring one more time, I can move on and focus on becoming the NXT Women’s Champion.
You saw what a sore loser Dana is after the match, Renee, and I’d love to have the chance to make her feel like that again. But more importantly, I want that NXT Women’s Championship back from Sasha Banks. As great as it was teaming with you tonight, Bayley, if I have to go through you to get another match with Sasha… I will.
All of a sudden, the mood becomes tense.
But until then… let’s keep celebrating.
Bayley and Charlotte both smile, although they both look a little uneasy doing so, and they hug before leaving together.
***VOIX DE VILLE*** The screen becomes black and white, the lights go out, a man in a white suit appears on the big screen brandishing a loudspeaker and exclaims “Gather ‘round everyone and witness the debonair devastation of such exquisite sophistication!” Spotlights shine down on the stage, and look who it is, it’s The Vaudevillains! Making their first appearance on TV in a while, Aiden English and Simon Gotch get a good reception from the NXT faithful as they shake hands before making their way down the ramp and into the ring, where Elias Samson & Mike Rallis are waiting for them.
2 - The Vaudevillains
vs. Elias Samson & Mike Rallis
I won’t waste your time; this match is all about The Vaudevillains. Making their return to television (or whatever device you choose to watch the WWE Network on), Aiden English and Simon Gotch look thoroughly impressive against Samson and Rallis, and finish Samson off with a rolling fireman’s carry slam by Gotch, followed by a senton bomb from English for the victory.
Winners - The Vaudevillains @ 3:14.
English gets to his feet and he and Gotch raise each other’s hands in the air to cheers from the crowd. The duo take a bow, and then shake each other’s hands and flex their free arms before leaving the ring.
Devin Taylor is stood backstage with the NXT Women's Champion, Sasha Banks.
Sasha Banks, last week at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, you and Becky Lynch stole the show. But in the end, you came out on top and retained your NXT Women’s Championship.
Sasha Banks: ‘Stole’
the show? (Scoffs)
Devin… this is
my show. And that’s exactly what Becky Lynch found out last week at TakeOver. Now I’ll give Becky credit, she put up a better fight than most have in that ring with me, but just like I thought, her best… just wasn’t enough. So now, we're back to everybody talking about how they want to be the next one to challenge for my title, and apparently that includes Bayley and Charlotte. Girls, I will gladly defend this title against either of you. But I don’t need to remind you, especially
you, Charlotte, that no matter who’s in the ring with me… the NXT Women’s Championship… stays
… with ‘The Boss’.
Banks confidently walks out of the picture, carrying her title over her shoulder.
***ACTION PACKED*** Alexa Bliss walks out with the NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy, getting heat from the crowd. Sporting new red highlights in her hair and wearing red attire matching that of Blake and Murphy, Bliss blows a kiss out of her hands whilst stood between her men on the stage before walking to the ring, the trio posing on the ring apron.
***THE PRICE IS RIGHT*** A cult favourite of the NXT faithful, Blue Pants makes her way out to a big pop from the crowd. Blue Pants makes her way down the ramp, playing to the crowd, and dances along to her theme song upon entering the ring.
3 - Alexa Bliss w/NXT Tag Team Champions Blake & Murphy
vs. Blue Pants
In this match, Bliss displays a vicious side of her which the NXT Universe hasn’t seen before, which can be attributed to her new affiliation with the NXT Tag Team Champions, Blake and Murphy. Blue Pants, a friend of BAMF's rivals, Colin Cassady and Enzo Amore, has the support of the crowd firmly with her, and she puts up a good fight, getting in a decent amount of offense. It was always going to be Bliss coming out on top in this one though, and she does, putting Blue Pants away with a Sparkle Splash for the victory.
Winner - Alexa Bliss @ 3:01.
Bliss gets to her feet and has her hand raised by the referee to heat from the crowd. Blake and Murphy then enter the ring and raise both of Bliss’ hands, before the trio happily exit the ring together.
Greg Hamilton is stood backstage with Finn Bálor.
Finn Bálor, last week at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, you faced Hideo Itami and Tyler Breeze in a NXT Championship Number-One Contender’s match. While you weren’t pinned, you were not victorious, and Hideo Itami will go on to challenge Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship. What’s on your mind right now?
First of all, Greg, I’d like to take the opportunity congratulate Hideo on his victory last week. Things got a little tense between us leading up to our match, but he’s still a good friend of mine, and just like everybody else, I hope he takes that NXT Championship from Kevin Owens. As for Finn Bálor's future, I-
Bálor is interrupted when Tyler Breeze walks into the picture, sporting his trademark vain look on his face as he looks at his phone before directing his gaze towards Bálor.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up about Hideo, Finn. He’s not gonna take that NXT Championship from Kevin Owens. But if anybody can… it’s ‘The King of Cuteville’. And I was this
close to winning last week and becoming the number-one contender. I had Hideo beat… but you stopped me, Finn… and I’m not gonna forget it.
Bálor and Breeze have a brief staredown, making Hamilton uncomfortable, until the latter walks out of the picture. After Bálor has left as well, Tye Dillinger walks into the picture, holds up a sign with the number 4 on it, shakes his head, and leaves.
***LOOK*** Jason Jordan walks out, not getting much of a reaction from the crowd. Jordan makes his way down the ramp with a smirk on his face, steps into the ring and takes a microphone.
In case any of you have forgotten who I am… my name is Jason Jordan. Got it? Good, because this is a face… that you’ll all need to remember. Y’see, everybody knows that if you wanna be a star in the WWE, and I mean a huge
star, then you need to have… ‘the look’. Seth Rollins has the look.
Heat for Rollins.
Roman Reigns has the look.
Mixed reaction for Reigns.
John Cena? You’re damn right he has the look.
Heat when Cena is mentioned.
Y’know, they say the future is now in NXT, but I look around that locker room, and the only future that I see in NXT… is in the mirror. I’m six-foot-three, two-hundred-and-thirty-five pounds, and I’m the most legitimate athlete on this roster. Hell, I’d even say I’m the most athletically-gifted Jordan in the history of sports!
Jason Jordan > Michael Jordan.
You have your Total Divas, and now… you have your total Superstar. And if any of you wanna see him, all you have to do… (points thumb to himself)
Jordan drops the microphone and outstretches his arms in a pose, signifying that he’s ready for action against Axel Tischer, who is already in the ring.
4 - Jason Jordan
vs. Axel Tischer
Similar to The Vaudevillains’ match earlier, this purely serves to showcase the talents of Jason Jordan. The cocky upstart is in control for the entirety of this short match, showcasing his exceptional amateur wrestling skills, and finishes Tischer off with the Jordan Slam for the victory.
Winner - Jason Jordan @ 1:56.
Jordan gets to his feet and has his hand raised by the referee, getting heat from the crowd. Jordan outstretches his arms before leaving the ring, looking very happy with himself after that convincing victory.
***MAN WITH A PLAN*** The Brian Kendrick
walks out, getting cheers from the crowd. Wearing a white jacket over his ring gear, Kendrick waves his arms around as he jogs down the ramp and enters the ring, running around in a circle with his arms outstretched.
***TOKIWAKITA*** Hideo Itami
walks out to a big pop from the crowd. Itami points his fingers to the sky before making his way down the ramp, entering the ring and pointing to the sky again.
5 - The Brian Kendrick
vs. Hideo Itami
Itami faces his first challenge as number-one contender to the NXT Championship, in the form of a veteran making his return to NXT, The Brian Kendrick. In what is by far the most competitive match of the night, Itami and Kendrick work well together, providing some fast-paced action for the NXT Universe, and Kendrick takes Itami to the limit, getting some near falls. The match comes to an end when Kendrick grabs Itami by the head, runs up the ropes in the corner and goes for the Sliced Bread #2, but Itami slips out of it, and Kendrick lands on his feet behind him after backflipping.
As soon as Kendrick hits the mat, he runs at Itami, who ducks a clothesline attempt, grabs Kendrick, lifts him up and hits him with a Fisherman Buster! Itami then gets straight back up and gets Kendrick to his feet. He Irish whips Kendrick into the ropes, before running off the ropes behind him, charging towards the incoming Kendrick, and nailing him with the Shotgun Kick! Itami makes the cover, and gets the three count, picking up the victory!
Winner - Hideo Itami @ 8:34.
Itami gets to his feet and has his hand raised by the referee to cheers from the crowd. Afterwards, Itami plays to the crowd, climbing to the second rope in the corner and motioning around his waist, indicating his intention to become the NXT Champion. However, Itami is suddenly pulled down from the top rope… by KEVIN OWENS! Owens gives Itami a kick to the mid-section before Irish whipping him into the ropes, and when Itami comes back, Owens lifts him up into the air, AND NAILS HIM WITH A POP-UP POWERBOMB!
Owens then picks up his NXT Championship and stands over Itami, raising it in the air with a grin on his face… when music starts to play, and does so for a few moments, before a message appears on the big screen, the words appearing one by one: “JOE IS COMING”. Once the message has concluded, the crowd explodes with cheers, and starts to chant “Joe!” repeatedly, as Owens stares at the big screen, lowering his title, a look of concern on his face just like last week…
