The First Monday Night Raw
January 11th, 1993
Grand Ballroom at the Manhattan Center
Vince McMahon,Bobby Heenan

Bobby Heenan is outside, telling us that the scene is crazy and that the place is full. Heenan is pissed off since the WWF thought it was a good idea for him to open the show outside. Bobby kicks it to Vince and says he will be there to host because he is BOBBY HEENAN. Vince welcomes us and introduces his co-host until Bobby gets inside.....Randy Savage. They hype the card and here we go.

The Undertaker vs Jim Brunzell. Taker and Brunzell stand off, rights by Jim to no effect. Slam to the corner by Taker, wrist lock and Taker goes old school. 2nd rope ax smash by Brunzell, and then a shoulder block off the ropes Taker goes down. Tombstone and that is all. Winner: Undertaker @ 2:20. After match, Taker does his normal post-match celebration and pose as the crowd goes nuts.

Kamala vs George Petrovsky. Kamala shows off his weight by throwing Petrovsky around. Vince talks about how Kimchee and Whippleman have been treating Kamala so poorly. Kamala with a few corner charges before slamming George. Kamala with a few more chops before the splash for the win. Winner: Kamala @ 2:29. After the match Whippleman gets in the ring and tells Kamala to do as he is told and that's to finish off George. Kamala isn't listening so Kimchee gets out a whip and starts whipping Kamala. Here comes Slick to preach to Kamala. Kimchee and Whippleman go to leave but Kamala doesn't follow. Kimchee turns around and slaps Kamala while yelling to come on. Kamala knocks Kimchee on his ass.

Special Report. Bobby Heenan talks about his new client coming in, the Narcissist. He says he's not only the perfect wrestler, but the perfect specimen of man, and he'll make Mr. Perfect and all the others pale in comparison.

Headshrinkers vs Dale Wolfe/Buck Zumhoff. Basic Headshrinkers squash. Samu beats them up tags in Fatu for the diving headbut and pin. Winners: Headshrinkers @ 2:48

Marty Jannetty vs Repo Man. Finish sees slam by Repo, misses a running senton and then eats a super kick. Jannetty then gets the Rocker Droper for the win @ 5:42.

Raymond Rougeau interviews Rick Martel. Ray asks Martel why we haven't been seeing much of him lately. Martel says he wants to call out his partner and friend Tito Santana first. Martel tells Tito that he has been a bad friend to him lately. Martel apologizes for trying to make it on his own and says he has never been happier then when they were Strike Force. Tito reluctantly hugs Martel who says that at the Royal Rumble they will win tag gold.

Royal Rumble Report with Gene Okerlund. Mean Gene does the normal update stuff, hyping the Royal Rumble card, saying to always expect the unexpected. Gene announced Bret Hart will defend his title against Yokozuna at the Rumble. We then here from Mr Fuji and Yokozuna hyping their shot at the Rumble.

Steiner Brothers vs WT Jones & Red Tyler. Scott pinned Tyler following the bulldog double team off the top. Winners: Steiners @ 3:00. During the match, a Beverly Bros inset pops up. They talk about facing Steiners at the Rumble.

Show ends outside as we see someone open the the and Bobby Heenan walks inside.Heenan flips out when he realized the show has ended.

WWE Raw on the USA Network
January 18, 1993
New York City, New York at the Manhattan Center
Vince McMahon & Randy Savage

We opened with a pan of the Manhattan Center as the Raw sirens are going off. As Vince was concluding the introduction, Doink the Clown is in the aisle-way throwing confetti at a handicap kid. Savage seems a bit mad and leaves the table. Repo Man hops the barricade and steals Savage's hat. As Savage sees whats going on Repo hops back through the crowd.

The Nasty Boys vs High Energy. Great showing by Owen, Koko is inoffensive, and Nasty's work through their move-set. Owen gets the best of Knobbs for a while and tries for a cross-body during a ropes sequence but Knobbs catches Owen with a forearm. Owen almost gets a hot tag to Koko at one point but Sags reaches and grabs his hair and just yanks him down. Knobs grabs Owen's arm and holds him and tags in Sags. All hell breaks loose. Death Drop on Koko wraps up this match. Winners: Nasty Boys @ 4:43

We get a pre-tape from Bobby Heenan, hyping up the debut of his new man, the Narcissist, at the Royal Rumble this Sunday on Pay Per View. He promises that his client has the most powerful forearm in wrestling history.

Yokozuna vs Phil Apollo. Yoko with the side belly to belly suplex. Big leg drop. He drags Apollo to the corner and, Banzai Drop ends it. Winner: Yokozuna @ 5:10. After match Yoko goes to Banzai Drop Apollo again but refs get out to stop it. Yoko leaves the ring and does his salt throwing and bowing.

Royal Rumble report with Mean Gene. He runs down the card for the Royal Rumble. Pre tape from Bam Bam Bigelow talking about Rumble match. We get a pre-tape from the Steiner Bros saying that they are not primadonnas or mama's boys, but those punk little prissy skirt wearing queens the Beverlies are, and if they want some, come get some. Final pre tape from Headshrinkers hyping up their Rumble opportunities.

Crush vs Beau Beverly. Just a Crush showcase. Crush dominates most of the match with Beverly getting in little offense. Doink is back in the aisle which sets off Savage. Vince is calming down Savage when Doink nails Crush with a prosthetic arm to cause the DQ. Winner: Crush by DQ @ 2:12. After the match Crush chases Doink up the aisle where they brawl. Tons of agents and referees rush out to break it up but they're having on helluva hard time.

Bobby Heenan is outside for the second straight week and he has caught up with Repo Man. Repo starts dancing around wearing Savage's hat. Randy starts going crazy. Repo tells Randy if he wants his hat to show up to the Rumble for a match.

Marty Jannetty vs Terry Taylor. Jannetty works Taylor's neck during the match. Jannetty stops a corner attack with both feet up. Jannetty monkey-flips Taylor into the corner, and when he pops out, he surprises him with a Rocker Droper, but as the ref's counting, Shawn Michaels appears and distracts Marty. Taylor reaches up and rolls Jannetty up for 2, while he's distracted. Taylor goes for a swing but Jannetty holds the rope and hits a diving fist drop to win. Winner: Marty Jannetty @ 4:59. After the match Michaels leaves laughing at Jannetty. Marty takes off after Shawn.

Vince and Savage continue to hype the Royal Rumble this Sunday. They run down the participants already announced, Undertaker, Kamala, Fatu, Samu, Marty Jannetty, Rick and Scott Steiner. They added Nasty Boys, Crush to the match as well.

The Headshrinkers vs Glen Ruth/Duane Gill. Headshrinkers close out the show with a dominate win. Winners: Headshrinkers @ 2:42

Love this year and New Generation Era.

Strike Force back together is awesome and while I like Raw better when it's more than just Squash Matches I understand that it's what Raw was like back then.

Anyway I shall be keeping a close eye on this one. I enjoyed the first two shows but the lack of Razor Ramon is one of the few negatives.

"So Chico you'd be out of your mind to not have Razor Ramon win the royal rumble"

Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan

Our commentators for this evening's broadcast are none other than Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan.

Repo Man vs Randy Savage. Repo comes to the ring wearing Savage's hat. Savage worked on Repo's ribs with shoulder thrusts in the corner. Repo worked in some mat wrestling until he missed an elbow drop. Repo went for a lariat but missed and went to the outside. Savage tossed Repo head first into the steps. Savage breaks the count before peeling back the mats and setting up for a pile-driver onto the concrete, but Repo back drops him. Savage blocked the back drop and slammed Repo head first into the concrete, rolls him back in hits top rope elbow for the win. Winner: Randy Savage @ 7:02. WWF Tag Team Champions Money Inc. vs Strike Force. Strike Force come out in their awesome jackets. Tito takes IRS to the limit and out-wrestles him on the mat. IRS tags in DiBiase who surprises Tito with a bunch fast paced knees and a DDT. DiBiasie really tries ending this early, trapping Tito in the Million Dollar Dream. He spins Ted around and hits him with a few forearms and an exploder suplex. Tito grabs DiBiasie and holds his arm for Martel to come in and hit. Martel just kind of waves Tito off. IRS comes running in trying to hit Tito with the briefcase but missed and nailed DiBiase instead. Martel tags himself in and gets the cover for 3. Winners: Strike Force (New Tag Champions) @ 14:20. After the match Tito is standing there dumbfounded while Martel Celebrates like crazy. The ref hands them the belts and Tito looks like he doesn't want them. Martel hugs Tito. They both leave with Martel acting like he fought and won the match himself. Tito walks behind shaking his head.

Mean Gene backstage brings in Bret Hart for an interview. Bret says he is a fighting champion and knows that he can and will beat Yokozuna tonight.

Steiner Brothers vs Beverly Brothers. This is exactly like their match at the real Royal Rumble was. Beverlies bump like crazy, Rick gets a majority of the damage. Scotty clears house with all of his epic power and decapitates Beau with a Frankensteiner to win. Winners: Steiners @ 10:10. After the match Steiners motion they want the tag titles.

Bobby Heenan comes out to an area on the side of the stage for the big unveiling of THE NARCISSIST.....LEX LUGER. Lex poses for several minutes as Heenan hypes him up, and Heenan gets Luger to turn around. Heenan says he'll show everyone an example of what he can do. I was a pretty big fan of 1993 WWF, and I've tinkered with rebooking that period myself, so I will be following this.

Putting Strike Force back together was a really good move that I never considered before. They probably would have been the best believable one off PPV challengers but I'm not a fan of having them actually win the titles. Money Inc. were classic heels who served as good foils for the Steiners and especially the Mega-Maniacs.

Savage vs. Repo on PPV is a waste of Savage imo.

Undertaker winning the Rumble could be interesting.

Didn't like the way Gonzalez was booked. Sure, he sucked, but introducing him as just another body for the Rumble was a waste. 7'7 wrestlers don't come around every day.

Not a fan of Yoko getting a title shot so soon, let alone actually winning. Don't get me wrong. I certainly wasn't enamored with midcard champ Bret Hart at the time, but Yoko was even less established. Surely you could have done better?

Liked seeing The Narcissist~! used just like in real life. Narcissist was my favorite thing about the 1st half of 1993 WWF.

Perfect says tonight he is going to prove that he is absolutely Perfect by beating Ric Flair. Perfect puts his career on the line that's how confident he is tonight. He tells Flair to get ready.

Mr Perfect vs Ric Flair. They circled each other and locked up. Perfect is selling being burnt by the Max Moon pyro that Flair hit Perfect with. JR notes that Flair isn't going to settle with beating Perfect with the Figure Four, he wants to pin him to add insult to injury. Ric starts to work on Perfect's right leg to possibly set up the Figure Four if he needs it. As Flair walked by Heenan, he showed him he had a hammer under his jacket. Great corner attack, non stop punches and forearms. Perfect hammer throws Flair across the ring and Flair tries to escape but Perfect won't let him. Perfect sends Ric into the corner and lights him up with some Flair style chops that Flair does the flop out of the corner for. Flair starts to hightail it to the back, figuring it's not worth it. Perfect goes after Flair. Heenan screams how Perfect was too proud to just take the win, he had to try and one up Flair, and now it's going to cost him his career as Luger shows up and hits Perfect in the aisle. Luger takes Perfect out with the running forearm. Flair gets back in and the referee yells at him. Ref starts counting and Perfect is getting up. Really enjoyed WrestleMania. Enough variation on the events of the actual event to keep it interesting. Flair winning the retirement match brings up plenty of interesting possibilities. Also, Razor Ramon beating Bret Hart clean was a great shock. Perhaps my only dislike was the involvement of Greg Valentine but that's only because I never bought him as a face for some reason. Great stuff dude!
