NWATNA 2002: The Alternative
After the purchase of WCW from the WWF in March 26 of 2001 the wrestling business was in shock after years of competition from WCW, WWF was finally declared the winner and ruled the American wrestling world with an iron fist. WWF thought they were going to add another 4 million of WCW viewers to its programming, however with an terribly booked Invasion angle and a decline with ratings the hot Monday Night War's wrestling period was dead and it was time to find the lost viewers of WCW.
Enter Jeff Jarrett the son of legendary Tennessee territory wrestling promoter Jerry Jarrett and a former Intercontinental Champion that was black balled by the WWF and had gotten a strong push by Vince Russo in WCW winning their world championship. After the death of WCW Jeff Jarrett had no choice but to start his own wrestling promotion or wrestle the indy circut for the rest of his career if he wanted to remain in the wrestling business, he chose the latter and challenged himself to bring back the millions of lost viewers of the Monday Night Wars and promote an alternative to the now bland WWF product.
Jeff Jarrett has recruited his father Jerry Jarett as the head of creative and is now seeking some business partners to help finance the company and is in talks with TV Networks and PPV Companies to air TNA programming.
Jeff Jarrett has finalised a deal to join the NWA and gain control of all the major NWA titles if he get's a TV or PPV deal. It is said that the deal will have Jeff Jarrett get minimal financial backing from the NWA, It said that the NWA has faith with the Jarrett's and that Jeff Jarret is happy to be a member of the legendary NWA which he believes will put credibility into TNA.
It is rumored that both Toby Keith and Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins both have interest in having a share in TNA as both of them are major pro wrestling fans.
It is also rumored that USA Network has interest in TNA because of how well WWF did in the ratings and are willing to pay top dollar for big names such as Bill Goldberg and Hulk Hogan to appear on the program if a deal is signed to stick it too the WWF for signing with TNN.
