Re: Being the booker
RAW: 22nd November 2004; Montreal
WWE returned to Montreal for another action packed RAW, which saw many announcements made for the upcoming RAW brand PPV Armageddon, just three weeks away, on PPV.
We kicked off with the World Tag Titles, as Booker T and Goldust took on the most celebrated Tag Team in Wrestling history, the Dudley Boyz!!! Booker and Goldust beat off the challenge of the Dudleyz in an explosive opener to retain the belts. However, neither man was ready for what would happen next, as Batista and Flair mae their way to the top of the ramp. They bad mouthed the tag champs, noting the fact that Batista eliminated Booker T at Survivor Series, and that Flair had helped to eliminate Goldust. They said that to them, that makes them the #1 Contenders, and made a challenge to Booker and Goldust to face them at Armageddon, with the belts up for grabs.
Booker and Goldust didn’t hesitate to accept the challenge, with a brief staredown, the stage is set for a World Tag team Championships match at Armageddon.
After this, all three members of Evolution talked backstage, with Orton looking rather worried. Flair and Batista expected that it was because of the upcoming match with Jericho, but Orton explained that wasn’t the problem, UNDERTAKER was. Flair and Batista looked to each other, then told Orton that the whole Undertaker thing was just like it was at Survivor series with all that lights off and message crap, just HBK or Y2J trying to get into their heads. Orton then agreed saying that no one could come back from the beating Taker took in July. Then as the trio began to laugh, their locker room went into darkness, and then the lights flickered, before returning. Orton was freaked out, but Flair just said that it was the buildings crappy electrics, nothing else, but Orton wasn’t so sure…
Next up, it was the eight man, Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental championship at Armageddon, which featured Matt Hardy, Chris Nowinski, the returning Raven, RVD, Edge, Christian, Rhyno and Sting.
Matt Hardy was eliminated first, by Nowinski, but Raven then dumped out Nowinski. This didn’t sit well with Nowinski, and he held onto the leg of Raven as E&C dropkicked Raven, putting him out. Raven was irate with Nowinski, and went into chase after him through the crowd.
Then, like last week, Trish Stratus ran in through the crowd and distracted E&C, allowing RVD to eliminate the former tag team champions at the same time. Edge and Christian were both irate to have been tricked by Stratus once again.
This then left three, Rhyno, RVD and Sting. All three went at it, with none helping the other. Rhyno nailed RVD with a Gore, and then it was done to Sting and Rhyno for a few minutes, while RVD rolled to the outside.
Rhyno looked set to eliminate Sting, but Sting held on, and flipped Rhyno over the top, to leave it down to RVD and Sting. Sting was on top for a long period, but RVD seen Sting setting him up for the Stinger splash and dumped him over the top rope, meaning RVD will face Matt Morgan in twenty days at Armageddon.
Shaniqua then defended the Women’s Title against Molly Holly, and successfully defended the title in less than three minutes. Again, the question has to be asked…who if anyone can stop the monster Shaniqua???
John Cena then made his feelings known about Kane with a rap. He said in it that Kane was jealous because he wished he was like John Cena so no one could see him, as well as wanting to know why Kane would come after him for no reason. He then said that Kane has one chance to apologise tonight, and if not, then it’s on!!!
E&C then talked backstage about the return of Trish. They said they should have known never to trust the slut, but now shes had her chance, and next week they will get their revenge.
John Cena was then in action, teaming up with Maven to take on the Brotherhood in a tag match. Cena and Maven cruised to an easy victory, with Cena picking up the three count after hitting the FU on Orlando Jordan. After the match, Cena called out Kane to explain himself. Kane then came out and took a microphone. He told Cena that he doesn’t have to explain himself to anyone. He does what he wants, when he wants, and NO ONE can stop him!! Cena then said that Kane was just an ugly burned out freak, that people cant stand to look at, and he can do what he wants, but so can the Dr. of Thuganomics. Cena then attacked Kane and they went at it toe to toe in the ring, but Kane nailed a low blow, and followed up with a Chokeslam, leaving Cena down and out in the ring. Kane then smiled and left the ring with Cena down.
Chris Jericho then had an interview, regarding the upcoming Title match. He said that he wrongfully had it taken away 8 days ago, and tonight, rightfully takes it back.
It was then time for the Main Event, with the winner facing the #1 Contender, Shawn Michaels at Armageddon.
Orton entered first, and awaited the arrival of Jericho, but then, the lights went out, and the gong went off again. This time, the message read, “When the dead rises, the Evolution will end… believe what you see, and believe what you hear… in twenty days… the dead…will rise…….again” another gong goes off and the lights return.
Orton is freaked out and runs up the ramp, but is stopped by Jericho who then enters and beats Orton all the way back to the ring.
Jericho dominated Orton for most of the early going, but Orton then began to use some desperation tactics to get back into the match. The two men went at it for near twenty minutes, back and forth, with Jericho kicking out of an RKO, and then Jericho hit a Lionsault, but Batista ran in to pull out the referee. As he did, Flair came through the crowd, and nailed Jericho with a steel chair. Orton then hit another RKO and picked up the three count.
Evolution then helped Orton up the ramp, and when they got there, the lights went out again, and three gongs went off, before the lights came back. All three members of Evolution then looked at one another and quickly darted backstage as the show went off the air.
Booker T and Goldust defeated The Dudley Boys to retain the World Tag Team Championships.
Rob Van Dam won an eight man battle royal to become #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship at Armageddon.
Shaniqua defeated Molly Holly to retain the Women’s Championship.

Smackdown; Calgary; November 25th 2004:
Smackdown got off to a rocket buster of a start this week, with a homecoming welcome for Bret Hart to Calgary. Bret made a quick speech, thanking the fans for their support over the years, and promised them a night we would never forget….and he wasn’t wrong!!!
The action kicked off with a Survivor Series rematch as Hurricane faced Chavo Guerrero, with the Cruiserweight Title on the line. Just like at Survivor Series, the interference of Chavo Classic looked to be the advantage for Chavo, but thanks to the help of Citizen Storm, Hurricane retained the belt, beating off the challenge of Los Chavo’s. Later in the night, though, there seemed to be tension between the former tag champs, as Storm asked Hurricane if he was interested in taking a rematch for the tag titles, but Hurricane responded by telling Storm that maybe they could start to go for singles gold now instead. Storm reluctantly agreed.
Before the Lesnar - Angle match, Kurt was interviewed and told about Goldberg’s condition, stating that Goldberg could be out of action now for some time, due to the injuries suffered at Survivor Series, and against Kurt last week. Kurt looked genuinely sad, and took the time to apologise to Goldberg, and told him he hoped he recovered soon. He then went on to tell Lesnar that in a few moments he would end their two year saga, once and for all!!!
Lesnar and Angle then got it on for a great fifteen minute contest, in which Angle kicked out of an F5, and his own, Angle Slam, as well as beating off the interference of Paul Heyman to pick up a submission victory, and head into the finals next week to face either Rock or Eddie. But with Angle in this kind of form, who can stop the American Hero??
The Basham’s then made their first title defence since winning the titles two weeks ago, against the APA. After such a long losing streak, the Basham’s, now the champions, took it to the APA, but it seemed as if their title reign would be a short one, until the well planned switch once again prevailed, and the Basham’s held onto the tag belts once again!!!
Bret Hart then announced that at the Night of the Champions, the Basham Brothers will defend the tag titles in a ten team Tag Team Turmoil match!!! With another major announcement, has Bret Hart surpassed the Armageddon PPV coming up in a few weeks time???
La Resistance were then asked for their take on the turmoil match in two weeks. They said that it doesn’t matter how many teams are in it, because they will win it. They then sent out a message to AMW, challenging them to a match NEXT WEEK!!! Even though AMW are not supposed to debut until two weeks time. We will find out the answer to this next week!!!
Up next was the second semi final, between Eddie Guerrero and The Rock. The two gladiators went at it in a great match, with both showing great desire to win the match. Each man fought out of attempts of the others finishing manouvre, with Eddie battling out of the Rock Bottom, and Rock moving away as Eddie went for the Frog Splash. In the end, Triple H made his way to ringside, which caused as a distraction for The Rock who gave chase on HHH, but then ran into a DDT from Eddie Guerrero, followed by the Frog Splash, 1...2...3!!! Eddie advances to face Angle next week!!! Triple H then laughed at The Rock as he came to his senses. This now means Triple H has screwed The Rock out of the WWE Title, twice in two weeks. How will The Rock strike back against The Game.
After the match, Eddie apologised to Rock about what happened with HHH, saying he did what he had to do, and Rock accepted the apology. Rock then said that HHH will pay tonight though, when Rock screws him out of the title when HHH faces Mysterio. Mysterio then entered the room and told Rock he would appreciate it if he would let him do this alone, and after he can do what he wants to Triple H. Rock then said that for Rey and Rey only he would not interfere.
This then brought us to the main event, were Triple H defended the WWE Title against Rey Mysterio. HHH wore Mysterio down early on, but Rey’s huge speed advantage got him back into the match, and nailed the 619, followed by the West Coast Pop, but somehow, Triple H kicked out. Rey then went for another West Coast Pop, but this time he was caught, and HHH delivered the Pedigree to pick up the three count.
After the match, Triple H brought out the Sledgehammer and looked set to take out Mysterio for good, when The Rock raced to ringside, but Triple H seen The Rock coming, and quickly jumped out of the ring. Rock then helped up Mysterio as Triple H signalled from through the crowd that he will never get the WWE Championship.
Hurricane defeated Chavo Guerrero to retain the Cruiserweight Championship.
Kurt Angle defeated Brock Lesnar to advance to the Finals of the #1 Contender’s tournament.
The Basham Brothers defeated the APA to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles.
Eddie Guerrero defeated The Rock to advance to the Finals of the #1 Contender’s tournament.
Triple H defeated Rey Mysterio to retain the WWE Championship.
