Re: Being The Booker

Take your time on the feedback, it's not the most important thing, as Hulky said just having you booking still is great for the section. Tho I would mark for a thread cameo from the man (you)

Superstars was alright, can't believe you're writing three shows that is ri-fucking-diculous. Atleast it showcases the cruisers, ELIX SKIPPER owns. As does Chavo so I'm glad to see he's got a CW title shot. Skipper/Bourne could be a good program to run, no doubt their matches will be mad. @ "somehow haven't gotten around to releasing Candice yet". Gold. Phoenix squashing her is good as it makes her look like the dominant bitch she is heading into her upcoming clash with Mickie James. Not much really to comment on apart from that, Bourne was always beating Nunzio. Oh and fuck you for having Layla on the losing side

SmackDown! should be good but I agree with Hulky, maybe the midcard is slightly weak atm. Hopefully this gets fixed in the near future. <3.

Re: Being The Booker

Friday Night Smackdown | June 8 2007 | Denver CO

No opening video, and no pyro. The show opens cold, straight into the arena, where Tony Chimmel is seen, standing in the ring…

Tony Chimmel: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, the Commissioner of the WWE, Jesse, THE BODY, Venturaaa!!!

And kicking the show off is the WWE Commissioner!! Jesse Ventura strides onto the stage, offering the fans a wave, as he makes his way down the aisle toward the ring.

Michael Cole: Friday Night Smackdown is on the air, and gentlemen, this is an ominous sign for our General Manager.

Tazz: I don’t like the looks of this for Arn Andersons future, Cole.

Joey Styles: We certainly didn’t expect an announcement as early as this. Obviously it doesn’t bode well for Arn Anderson, but what about Batista?? The Animal, for the second week running is scheduled to challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. If, as we expect, Arn Anderson IS fired tonight, will that championship match be null and void??

Tazz: Good question Joe. Ya go-

Michael Cole: Yeah, good question Joe. I’m sure that’s the main concern for Arn Anderson right now.

Ventura enters the ring, and takes a mic from the exiting Chimmel, as the music of the Commissioner dies down.

Jesse Ventura: By now, you’ll all know why I’m here tonight, and before I get started, let me assure you all, I wont be eating up too much of your time. But- I do have a lot to get through, and not much time to do it, so excuse me if I appear rather abrupt this evening. … … Arn Anderson, please, come down to the ring.

There is a momentary pause, as Ventura patiently waits …

Wasting little time, the current Smackdown GM, wearing an open collared shirt, walks down the aisle, nodding to the fans at the side of the aisle. Anderson climbs inside, and shares a handshake with Ventura, as the music dies down, and the two get set to get down to business.

Jesse Ventura: Arn, first of all, I want to apologise for overruling your scheduled WWE Championship Match last week. Unfortunately, that decision was out of my hands, and to clarify, the decision had nothing to do with Edge’s whining. The board simply thought it would be in Smackdowns best interest to postpone any major championship matches, whilst your tenure was being investigated.

Anderson nods, accepting the reasoning.

Jesse Ventura: That being said … you then went and rescheduled the match for tonight-

Ventura is cut off by a crowd pop.

Jesse Ventura: And while I should cancel it … I’m stating right here, right now, that tonight, that WWE Championship match WILL happen.

Pop. Ventura readies himself, trying to calm the fans down, before speaking again.

Jesse Ventura: Because Arn … it’s the last WWE Championship Match you will announce for the foreseeable future.

Heat. Again, Anderson - like a defeated man - nods.

Jesse Ventura: You and I go way back, and this decision is the hardest I’ve had to make in my short tenure as Commissioner. But Arn, you’ve left me very little choice in the matter. Over the last two months, you’ve allowed things to get outta hand on this show. Un-contracted talent picking up career threatening injuries … THREE contracted superstars finding themselves on the shelf indefinitely … even the fans have been attacked by your Smackdown superstars.

Ventura pauses, and looks at Anderson, as if to say “and there’s more”.

Jesse Ventura: Things have gotten outta control Arn. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, because two weeks ago on Smackdown, you admitted negligence in the case of Rob Van Dam. You allowed him to compete at Judgment Day, knowing full well he was nowhere near ready to step back inside the ring. Not only that, but you also admitted to hating - HATING - the WWE Champion, Randy Orton.

Heat for the mention of Orton.

Jesse Ventura: I don’t really like the kid much myself Arn, but hate?? Hate, Arn, is a very strong word. It’s one you cant afford in the position you hold. And you’ve allowed that hatred of Orton to consume you. You signed the Fatal Four Way at Judgment Day in an attempt to stack the deck against Orton … and frankly, that’s unacceptable.

Anderson blankly stares at Ventura, before turning his head away, looking to the fans.

Jesse Ventura: I don’t want it to seem like I’m demeaning you, Arn. Or trying to embarrass you in front of a worldwide audience … You deserve credit for the job you’ve done on Smackdown as it’s General Manager up until WrestleMania. The unfortunate thing for you Arn, is that you allowed your emotions, you allowed your heart to rule your head, when it came to Randy Orton.

Ventura steps forward, getting eye contact from Arn.

Jesse Ventura: We all know you and Ric Flair are like brothers, and what Orton subjected him to was disgusting. In all honesty, if Randy Orton ran my very best friend outta the profession he loved … I think I woulda done the same. But Arn, in the position you hold … that just cant happen.

Anderson nods again, knowing what he’s done.

Jesse Ventura: Arn … after lengthy discussions this past week with the Board of Directors, I’ve been advised that the best course of action, and the recommendation of the board is that your contract as General Manager should be terminated immediately.

Heat from the fans. Anderson, having already expected this announcement last week, doesn’t look shocked.

Jesse Ventura: That’s their recommendation … but Arn, this might come as a surprise to you … I’m NOT firing you.

Pop from the fans, an Andersons eyes widen in surprise.

Jesse Ventura: I wont fire you … but Arn, it’s clear to see that you’ve allowed aspects of your job to weigh you down. You came out here tonight like a beaten man. That’s not the Arn Anderson I know. That’s not ‘The Enforcer’ as far as I’m concerned. But like I said … I wont fire you. If you’ve had enough, and you wanna quit … be my guest … but I still believe you’re the right man for this job.

Small pop from the fans, as Ventura gears up.

Jesse Ventura: But-

The fans die down, as the dreaded three letter word pops up again.

Jesse Ventura: I still have to take action for the mistakes you’ve made Arn. For the record, after investigation into Edge’s complaints against your decision making, those accusations were unfounded. As far as I, and the board are concerned, there was no case for Edge to lodge a complaint. However, as a result of your negligence towards Rob Van Dam, and your admitted bias against Randy Orton … I’m officially suspending you for TWELVE WEEKS … beginning … as of right now.

Heat. The expression on Andersons face drops in astonishment.

Jesse Ventura: Arn, don’t look at this as a punishment. Take the time off to recharge those batteries, and think about your future as Smackdown General Manager. Get your head clear, and if you feel like you can return and do this job to the best of your ability - like you did prior to WrestleMania - then you’ll be back on Smackdown, running this show on August 31 once the WWE returns from the World Tour.

Ventura reaches a hand out, offering Anderson a handshake, which the - now suspended - GM accepts. The fans semi-cheer, as Anderson pulls away, and asks for the mic.

Arn Anderson: Jess, I appreciate what you’ve done for me t’night. I know it coulda been easy t’fire me on the spot. I sure as hell couldn’t have had any complaints. I realise more than anyone that I’ve abused my position, and before I leave tonight, I jus’ want to apologise to the fans-

Small pop.

Arn Anderson: I’m sorry for letting you guys down in the last few months. An’ I want to apologise to all the boys in the back. I began my reign as GM on Smackdown, telling the entire locker room that I wouldn’t play favourites, that I wouldn’t take any crap, and that I would do everything in my power to make Smackdown the undisputed ‘A’ brand in the WWE. And I didn’t stay true to my word.

Anderson then holds his finger up.

Arn Anderson: BUT- if I feel I CAN return to duty as General Manager at the end of August, and do the job as I should’ve done this entire time … and that is IMPARTIALLY!!

Pop for Anderson, who hands the mic back to Ventura, and shakes hands with the Commissioner again, before waving to the fans, as he hops out of the ring, and leaves up the ramp, whilst Ventura waits to continue. Jesse waits until Double A disappears behind the curtain, then moves on…

Jesse Ventura: Now … we cant have Smackdown ungoverned for the next three months. While Arn Anderson is given time off to reconsider his future, someone needs to step into the breach here on Friday Nights. And I’ve got just the guy. I’ll be honest … I don’t like him, I don’t trust him, and he’s pretty damn slimy to say the least. But what I will say, is that the guy knows what he’s doin. Allow me to introduce to you, the interim General Manager of Smackdown … RAWS General Manager, ERIC BISCHOFF!!

Michael Cole: WHAT??!!

Joey Styles: Oh please no.

Tazz: Whoa boy … BISCHOFF??

**I‘M BACK**

To the astonishment of the fans, ERIC BISCHOFF steps onto the stage, more smug than ever - now taking the reigns of BOTH flagship shows in the WWE, albeit temporarily. Bischoff confidently strides down the aisle, unable to wipe the smirk off his face, whilst Ventura looks to the fans, seemingly unimpressed with the man he has chosen as Interim Smackdown GM.

Joey Styles: What have we done to deserve this snake as our General Manager - even if it is only on a temporary basis. Was this really the best available option??

Tazz: I don’t know what to think about this Joe. Bischoff is a shady, shady dude, but I gotta say, he’s been doin a helluva job on Raw lately.

Michael Cole: That he has Tazz. Eric Bischoff has been making big strides on Raw in recent months. I gotta say, I don’t see where your negativity is coming from Joey. What do you have against Eric Bischoff??

Joey Styles: He’s a slime ball. An untrustworthy slime ball, Michael. A leech, a parasite, that done his absolute best to cripple ECW, picking off our best stars with Ted Turners billions when he ran WCW.

Michael Cole: Oh, move on Styles!! ECW died years ago!! You’re in the big leagues now, perhaps you should start to move on. You’re in the WWE, calling Smackdown. You’re not in Paul Heymans basement doing voice overs anymore. Stop harbouring old, outdated grudges.

Joey Styles: I don’t like that man, I don’t trust that man, and don’t you dare undermine my past Michael Cole.

Bischoff’s music dies down, and the new interim GM prepares to speak.

Eric Bischoff: Well, well, well. Jesse Ventura- Commissioner Ventura … this is a pleasure. Let me assure you Jesse, you’ve made the right decision. As a matter of fact, when you see what I’ve done with Smackdown in twelve weeks time, you’ll be giving ‘ol man Anderson the heave ho, and you’ll be begging me to take this show on full time. Bec-

Jesse Ventura: Let’s set the record straight, Bischoff. You got the job because you were ready, and you were available. I’ll admit, you’ve raised your game with Raw, but believe me … if you screw this up Bischoff … in twelve weeks time, you’ll be begging me not to fire you.

Ventura then moves in close to Bischoff.

Jesse Ventura: With that being said … good luck.

Ventura gives Bischoff a HARD pat on the back, jolting the GM, before the Commissioner exit’s the ring, leaving Bischoff to hold court. Eric steadies himself, and fixes his jacket, before continuing, as we watch Ventura leave up the ramp, slapping out stretched hands of the fans as he passes by.

Eric Bischoff: Let’s move on, shall we??

Bischoff disingenuously smiles, before continuing.

Eric Bischoff: First of all, I want to let all the talent here on Smackdown know that I will be taking this role just as seriously as I do my role on Raw. I may be the permanent General Manager on Raw, but I wont favour that job over this. As far as I’m concerned, this is an opportunity to prove just how far ahead of the curve I am. I want to cement my position as the premiere General Manager in the WWE, and by successfully running BOTH flagship shows … I will do just that.

Heat. Again, Anderson - like a defeated man - nods.

Eric Bischoff: And I want to kick off with a bang. Tonight, as you will already know, ‘The Animal’ Batista challenges Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, but that’s not all. Tonight, in this very ring, we will determine the NEXT man to challenge for that WWE Championship, and that title shot will come at Smackdowns next Pay Per View extravaganza, ‘The Great American Bash’. And I intend on promoting a show just as good, just as newsworthy as I have over on Raw with next Sundays Vengeance.

Bischoff pauses for a second.

Eric Bischoff: So tonight, we’re gonna find out the main event for The Great American Bash on July 8. Whomever the WWE Champion may be will be defending his championship against the winner of tonights triple threat match. And the three men battling it out for that title shot are … EDGE!!!

Heat for Edge, who has ANOTHER opportunity to earn an outright one on one title shot.

Eric Bischoff: The most exciting talent not on Monday Night Raw, the United States Champion himself, PAUL LONDON!!!

Big pop for a big opportunity for London.

Eric Bischoff: And the third man?? He’s the guy that was screwed outta the title at Judgment Day … BRRROCK LESSSSSNARRRR!!!

Massive pop for The Iron Man!!

Eric Bischoff: Ladies and Gentlemen … I suggest you buckle up. Because with Eric Bischoff in charge of Smackdown … you are guaranteed the ride of your life.

**I‘M BACK**

Bischoffs music plays again, as the interim GM exit’s the ring.

Michael Cole: Talk about an instant impact. But I’m sure you’ll have a complaint Joey, right??

Joey Styles: No complaints on the match up, Michael. I just hate Bischoffs stinkin guts.

Tazz: I aint the mans biggest fan either, but Bischoff knows how to deliver. Gotta give him credit for that triple threat match.

Michael Cole: The main event for the Great American Bash WILL be decided tonight!! It’s an unmissable edition of Friday Night Smackdown, and when we come back, we’re kicking off, with the continuation of the King of the Ring tournament!!

Commercial Break

Michael Cole: Welcome back to Friday Night Smackdown, and if you’ve just joined us, boy oh boy, have you missed a BIG opening.

Joey Styles: Absolutely, Michael. It is ALL change on Smackdown. Arn Anderson has been suspended and relieved of his duties for three months. Jesse Ventura has placed Raw GM Eric Bischoff in charge of Smackdown in the interim. AND, tonight, we will find out the main event for next months Great American Bash.

Michael Cole: That’s right, Joey. Despite your blind hatred for the man, Eric Bischoff has made a sudden impact on Smackdown. One of Brock Lesnar, Paul London and Edge will meet the WWE Champion on July 8. Will Randy Orton or Batista be holding the gold though?? We find out the answer to that in our main event.

Tazz: Off the hook gentlemen. Forget your opinions on Bischoff, he’s delivered tonight.

Michael Cole: Indeed he has, and that’s not all. Because, during the commercial break, Eric Bischoff has announced that Americas Most Wanted will once again defend their WWE Tag Team Championships against Booker T & Elijah Burke!! They got themselves disqualified last week, but the champions must put the titles on the line again - TONIGHT!!!

To a proper heel response now, Brian Kendrick enters for his King of the Ring match.

Joey Styles: The Great American Bash will have to take a backseat for the time being I’m afraid, Cole, because right now, the King of the Ring takes centre stage. It’s the final two first round matches tonight, and we are kicking off with the Cruiserweight Champion!!

Tazz: Huge test for Kendrick tonight, Joe. This kids head has been in the clouds since winnin that title. He’s shunned his friends, he’s forgotten his roots. Just last week, he left his supposed best friend out to dry, and started posing with Paul Londons U.S title!!

Michael Cole: But it’s hard to argue the results gentlemen. Brian Kendrick is on the biggest roll of his career.

Tazz: It is a cut throat business, and he has been enjoying success like never before since his change in attitude. I guess, you got a point, Cole.

Joey Styles: Seems like a lot of people are going through a change in attitude around here at the minute, huh Michael??

Kendrick hops into the ring, brandishing his Cruiserweight title, as he gets set for his match.

Michael Cole: Tonight for Kendrick, it’s all about the King of the Ring - BUT the Cruiserweight Champion has a title defence on the horizon, after Chavo Guerrero earned a shot this past Tuesday on Superstars.

Joey Styles: Kendrick escaped by the skin of his teeth at Judgment Day, but Chavo Guerrero gets his rematch. When?? We don’t know, but I bet Chavo wont want to wait too long to get his hands on the champ.

Tazz: Yeah. Kendrick had better stop thinkin about parading with other peoples title belts, and focus on defending his own, otherwise he’ll be left with none!!

The former United States Champion, Brent Albright jogs onto the stage, ignoring the heat from the fans, as we get set for an unusual heel/heel contest.

Michael Cole: What a match we’re set for here. Arguably the toughest to call in the entire opening round of this years King of the Ring tournament.

Joey Styles: Brent Albright won a lot of admirers during his incredible seven month reign as the United States Champion. Winning the King of the Ring is on his radar now, and what an accomplishment it would be for this guy.

Tazz: One of the favourites in my opinion. Big match specialist guys, and it don’t come much bigger than the King of the Ring.

Brian Kendrick vs. Brent Albright
Despite the tweener/heel dynamic here, it’s a technically sound contest, with Kendrick taking on a face role in terms of offence, but plays it cocky when in control. The speed of the CW champ is a problem for Albright, but the former U.S Champion eventually takes over, and gets to work on Kendrick, as the three man commentary booth begin to ask how much does Kendrick really want the KOTR crown.

The answer is made obvious, as Kendrick digs deep to spark a comeback, albeit, without the fans on his side. The Cruiserweight Champion puts Albright on the back foot, and scores a few near falls himself, as Brent is forced to show his own determination and will to win. Kendrick attempts to hit the flashy Doctor Smooth’s Secret Recipe, but Albright catches the foot and shoves BK away, with Kendrick crashing hard on the mat, allowing Brent to follow up and grabs Kendrick when he is up; smashing him with the Half Nelson Suplex!!! Albright follows up, and covers, but Kendrick manages to kick out at two.

Albright then targets the arm, softening Kendrick up for the Crowbar, but just as he looks to clench it on, Kendrick squirms free, trying to avoid it for all he’s worth, kicking and clawing at Albright to keep him at arms length. In a VERY heelish move, Kendrick RAKES the eyes of Albright, showing his desperation to avoid the crowbar, and it nearly pays off, as when Brent reels away, Kendrick spots an opening to go for SLICED BREAD … BUT ALBRIGHT THROWS HIM OFF!!! Kendrick staggers back up after crashing onto the mat … and walks into an arm drag takedown … STRAIGHT INTO THE CROWBAR!!! Kendrick almost INSTANTLY taps, and Albright advances!!
Winner: Brent Albright @ 07:12

‘The Master Craftsman’ progresses to the next round, where Jeff Hardy or Kid Kash will await, as those two clash later for the right to qualify for the Sweet Sixteen. In the ring, Albright has his arm raised, whilst Kendrick rolls straight out of the ring, clutching his arm, selling the effects of the arm work and Crowbar.

Tazz: That right there is a genuine contender to win this thing. Brent Albright is a man on a mission right now. He doesn’t have any other distractions. No titles to defend, nobody to look over his shoulder for. He’s got all his focus on becoming the 2007 King of the Ring.

Michael Cole: Brian Kendrick came up a fraction short tonight. But like you said Tazz, Brent Albright doesn’t have his attention diverted elsewhere. He has one goal right now; one objective - win the King of the Ring.

Joey Styles: Kendrick has paid the price here if you ask me. Dreaming of double gold, completely in love with himself, I’m surprised the Cruiserweight Champion even had time to show up here tonight!!

Michael Cole: Brian Kendrick has nothing to be ashamed of here, he lost on the night, but he damn sure gave it his all. Meanwhile, Brent Albright DOES advance, and we’re gonna find out in just a moment who he faces in the second round. Will it be Jeff Hardy or Kid Kash??

Commercial Break

The New Wave vs. Batista & Brock Lesnar
Dinsmore tentatively steps inside, keeping close to the ropes, with Batista challenging him to come at him, but The Prodigy remains cagey, and soon, we see why … AS CADE AND DOANE ATTACK BATISTA!!! The other two members of the group jump The Animal, which sparks Lesnar into life, and The Iron Man clears house; sending Doane flying with a Belly to Belly suplex, then topples Cade over the top rope with a clothesline, taking himself out of the ring too!!! In the ring, Dinsmore AGAIN runs into a SPINEBUSTER!!! And as Batista picks him back up, Orton merely watches on, with The Animal trying to goad the champion into action … but Orton stands on the apron, allowing his troops to be dismantled … AS BATISTA DELIVERS THE BATISTA BOMB!!! The Animal hooks the leg, keeping his eyes on Orton the entire time … 1...2...3!!!
Winners: Batista & Brock Lesnar @ 13:04

Orton steps into the ring, and turns his attention back to the ring, and the defeated Nick Dinsmore, taking up a position in the corner. Orton looks down at Dinsmore, who slowly comes around, not knowing what is about to come. Cade and Doane both look on in shock, not sure what to expect next, having seen this set up before … and almost in an instant, as Dinsmore looks up… ORTON RUNS ACROSS THE RING … AND PUNTS NICK DINSMORE IN THE SKULL!!!!!

RANDY ORTON JUST PUNTED HIS OWN TEAM MATE!!! Immediately, Ken Doane slides into the ring, looking to tend to Dinsmore … but Orton shoves him away, ordering him not to. On the outside, Garrison Cade shakes his head in disgust at the actions of his leader, and walks away, up the ramp, as medics now arrive on the scene.

In the ring, Orton berates Doane, as the camera picks him up, telling Ken ‘I WARNED YOU ALL!! I SAID I WOULDN’T TOLERATE FAILURE’ before leaving the ring, without a seconds thought for poor Nick Dinsmore … out cold, whilst Ken Doane stands in the ring, looking down on Dinsmore, before looking outside to Orton, who doesn’t look back, simply walking out.

We return to Smackdown, and see the arrival of RANDY ORTON!! The WWE Champion walks into the arena from the parking lot, carrying his bag over his shoulder, and it’s evident that tonight he is ALONE.

Michael Cole: Well, last week, Randy Orton alienated The New Wave, after LITERALLY kicking - punting - Nick Dinsmore out of the group. We have it on good authority that Garrison Cade and Ken Doane have both requested the evening off, and that request was granted by Jesse Ventura. What could be going through the minds of Cade and Doane this evening??

Tazz: What must be goin through the mind of Orton, Cole?? The Champ defends his title tonight, and he’s got no insurance policy to bail him out on this one!!

Joey Styles: And if ever he needed it, it was tonight, gentlemen. The threat of Batista is SERIOUS. The WWE Championship is in SERIOUS jeopardy if you ask me. Can Orton overcome The Animal on his own??

Michael Cole: What comes around, goes around, and tonight, Randy Orton may just find his actions coming back to bite him on the ass.

Joey Styles: And after the way he bullied Ric Flair into retirement … after the way he brutally - and needlessly - disposed of Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam and now Nick Dinsmore, he deserves all the punishment he gets!! It’s been a long time coming if you ask me. Nick Dinsmore wont be in a ring for God knows how long. And for what?? Losing a match?? Gimme a break.

High energy, Jeff Hardy races onto the stage, with his first round King of the Ring contest coming up next.

Commercial Break

Jeff Hardy vs. Kid Kash
Fast paced contest, with little time given to the pair to put anything really good together. Jeff brings his usual reckless abandon to the table, whilst Kash plays it a little more safe, and uses Hardys wild offence against him, forcing Jeff to crash and burn, allowing himself to take over. Kash though, is unable to put Jeff away despite his best efforts, and naturally, Hardy is able to muster a slight comeback, getting the fans on their feet with his high flying style.

Kash attempts to put the kybosh on it by slapping on an energy sapping sleeper … but Hardy twists out of it, and plants KK with a jaw breaker, then knocks Kash down with a running forearm. Hitting another gear now, Jeff gets Kash up, drilling him with a front suplex, which sets him up perfectly, as he quickly ascends to the top rope … AND FLIES WITH A SWANTON BOMB!!! Hardy covers, 1...2...3!!!
Winner: Jeff Hardy @ 05:38

It’ll be Hardy and Albright in the Sweet Sixteen, with Jeff overcoming the former Cruiserweight champion.

Michael Cole: Jeff Hardy advances, and gentlemen, the first round of the 2007 King of the Ring is OFFICIALLY over!!

Tazz: Now it gets serious, Cole. Eight guys left on Smackdown; seven left from Raw. All these guys are one win away from Saturday Nights Main Event now. It’s all beginning to get very real for these guys.

Joey Styles: Umaga from Raw is the first man to officially make it to Saturday Nights Main Event, and by this time next week, we will know the Elite Eight. All FOUR second round matches from Smackdown will take place NEXT WEEK on Smackdown. Jeff Hardy and Brent Albright, Paul London and Ken Doane, Charlie Haas and Finlay, and of course, the big one - the grudge match - MVP and Carlito.

Tazz: Has there ever been a match in King of the Ring history with more hatred between the two competitors?? I don’t think so. Carlito and MVP have been at each others throats for months. It’s personal - very personal.

Michael Cole: Indeed it is, Tazz. It began as a clash of personalities, but it has become so much more.

Joey Styles: That’s an understatement, Michael. MVP tried to end Carlitos little brothers career before it has even begun. Primo Colon has - excuse me, HAD been training to follow in the footsteps of his big brother. That dream has had to be put on the backburner for the best part of a year.

Michael Cole: And Carlito tried to do the exact same to MVP at Judgment Day!! MVP feels he shouldn’t have to face Carlito again. He fears for his own safety, because he knows Carlito isn’t interested in wrestling - Carlito wants to destroy the highest paid superstar in Smackdown history!! Surely you don’t agree with that, Joe??

Joey Styles: I never said I did. Carlito has allowed his aggression - that latin temper - to get the best of him recently, and it could cost him next week, if he blows his chance to become King of the Ring.

Commercial Break

We return backstage, with the sight of BATISTA warming up.

Joey Styles: There he is gentlemen!! The Animal challenges Randy Orton later tonight for the WWE Title!! Is tonight the dawn of a new era - an animalistic era here on Smackdown??

Tazz: He’s got the tools to do it, no damn doubt about it, Joe. Can he win the big one tonight, though.

Michael Cole: That is our main event. Former team mates in Evolution, clash for the gold tonight. Batista and Orton know one another inside out. They know each others strengths, they know their weaknesses. It promises to be explosive. And one of the two men will meet the winner of tonights triple threat match to determine the number one contender at the Great American Bash. And right now, Josh Mathews is with one of those three competitors. Josh??

Josh Mathews standing by…

Josh Mathews: Thank you Michael, and Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, one of the three competitors in tonight’s number one contenders triple threat match, the United States Champion, Paul London!!

A smiling Paul London steps into view, proudly carrying his U.S Title.

Josh Mathews: Paul, tonight, you have been handed the opportunity to earn the right to challenge Randy Orton or Batista at the Great American Bash. Standing in your way however, are two of the most decorated stars, two of the biggest names in the WWE today, Brock Lesnar and Edge. What are your thoughts on tonights opportunity??

Paul London: Yeah … pretty big deal, huh?? Y’know, I arrived here today in Denver-

Unintentional cheap pop. London smirks.

Paul London: And to be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ll tell ya though … the last thing I would’ve expected today was to be thrust into a Number One Contenders Match. But hey, I’m not complaining. Tonight, I’ve been handed the ultimate opportunity … a chance to earn a shot at the WWE Championship. And Josh, ya might’ve noticed, I’m grabbing all the opportunities that come my way lately.

London pats the United States Title.

Paul London: This right here is my pride and joy, Josh. The United States Championship is the most important thing in my life … but it’s still just the beginning of what I’m hoping is goin to be a perfect summer for Paul London. Winning the U.S title was step one … becoming number one contender tonight is next-

Pop in the background. London smiles again, but shakes his head as if to say that’s not all.

Paul London: THEN, it’s onto Saturday Nights Main Event where I WILL be crowned King of the Ring … and I’m goin full circle at the Great American Bash … by becoming W … W … E … CHAMPION!!!

Pop. London looks deadly serious, FULL of belief in his abilities.

Paul London: And ya wanna know somethin else, Josh?? … I hope it’s Orton.

Heat from the fans.

Paul London: Hear me out. I got a lotta love for Batista. It’d be an honour to face the big guy with the WWE title on the line … but I want a piece of Orton. Josh, I have been itching to get my hands on Orton ever since he kicked RVD in the skull at WrestleMania.

London pauses, breathing heavily, looking more serious than ever.

Paul London: Rob Van Dam is one of the best friends I’ve had in the WWE. We’ve rode together on the road, we have the same interests, similar personalities. I’ve learned so much from RVD … to the point where he’s been more like a brother to me than a colleague. So … to see him taken out the way he was … seconds after his biggest achievement; retaining the WWE title at WrestleMania … it made me sick. And after the way Orton disposed of Rob at Judgment Day … he proved that he wasn’t a damn bit sorry. Well Josh … I want to make him sorry. I want to beat him at the Great American Bash, and have his world crumble around him. And I’ll do it for (does the thumb taunt) Rob … Van … Dam.

London fixes his belt, and turns to leave … but walks into BRIAN KENDRICK. Kendrick has the look of a Bulldog chewing a wasp,

Brian Kendrick: Did I just hear that right?? Your best friend in this business is … RVD??

Kendrick scoffs.

Brian Kendrick: All that time we spent tagging?? That mean nothing to you?? I always thought you and I were close, Paul. Brothers almost. But now that you’ve branched out and got yourself a title … I guess our friendship is no longer important to you??

Paul London: What??

Brian Kendrick: Y’know, I’m just coming off a big loss. I’m out of the running for the King of the Ring, and you don’t seem to give to damn!! Screw your old buddy Brian, you’ve got more important things on your mind, right?? You won your United States title, you’re aiming to win the King of the Ring, and STILL you’re not happy?? You’re not content with that?? Ohhhh no. That’s not good enough for you, is it, Paul?? You’re not happy with one title, are ya?? You want it all. I bet you’re looking at MY Cruiserweight title, and you want that too, right??

Kendrick holds up the CW belt, then pulls it away.

Brian Kendrick: Well you cant have it!! Ever since you won that title, you’ve become so selfish, so self-centred. It’s all about you now, isn’t it Paul?? Y’know something?? … You’ve changed.

Kendrick pushes past London, and walks on, but turns and shouts.

Brian Kendrick: You know what you need Paul?? You need someone to bring you down off that perch!!

Kendrick disappears from view, as London stands in the hallway, shaking his head in disgust at the attitude of his former friend, Brian Kendrick.

Back to ringside…

Joey Styles: Brian Kendricks ego aside, let’s talk about Paul London, and the opportunity that awaits him tonight. Gentlemen??

Michael Cole: Tazz and I have had the pleasure to watch Paul London blossom before our eyes over the past two and a half years. He has had one previous WWE Title shot, but despite a valiant effort, he just wasn’t ready for it at that time. Now though?? Paul London is a viable threat. On any given night, Paul London can beat ANYONE. Could tonight be that night??

Tazz: He doesn’t just want a shot at the gold guys, he wants a piece o’ Orton too. Like many guys in that locker room, Paul London harbours a grudge with the WWE Champ for his actions, and the Golden Boy wants Orton in the worst way.

Michael Cole: Well, that triple threat match is still to come tonight, but next on Smackdown tonight, the WWE Tag Team Championships are on the line!! For the third time, the team of youth and experience; Elijah Burke and Booker T will challenge Americas Most Wanted. Is tonight the night, where finally the challengers overcome the champions??

Joey Styles: That was last week, Michael. Booker T & Elijah Burke had the titles won last week on Smackdown, but AMW saved the championships by getting themselves disqualified.

To a strong response, Booker & Burke enter, looking pumped, having gotten another bite at the cherry tonight.

Michael Cole: Can Booker T and Elijah Burke pick up where they left off last week on Smackdown?? Can this exciting duo finally capture the WWE Tag Team Titles?? Find out, when we come back!!

Commercial Break

We return, with Booker & Burke in the ring awaiting AMW…

The champions make their way out … but it’s obvious that Booker & Burke aren’t taking any chances … AND THEY COME TO MEET THEM IN THE AISLE!!!

The two teams square off on the ramp, trading blows, with the challengers getting the better of the exchange, dragging Harris and Storm to the ring, throwing them inside and getting the match started.

Americas Most Wanted vs. Booker T & Elijah Burke
The challengers open up on the champions in the ring, beating them with rights, lefts and chops in opposite corners, then both go for an Irish whip … AND SEND THE CHAMPIONS RUNNING INTO EACH OTHER!!! Dazed and confused, Harris and Storm stagger around the ring, with Burke taking Storm out of the equation, clothes lining The Cowboy out of the ring, taking himself out too!!!

It leaves Booker and Harris in the ring, with Booker in control, hammering Harris, throwing him off the ropes, and putting him down with a side kick!! Feeling the energy, Booker signals for it, and to the delight of the fans, DISPLAYS THE SPIN-A-ROONIE!!! Spotting Harris getting up, Booker looks to finish things off … AND GOES FOR THE SCISSORS KICK … BUT MISSES!! Harris avoids the kick, and SCHOOL BOYS BOOKER … HOLDING THE TIGHTS … AND THE ROPES … 1...2...3!!!
Winners: And STILL WWE Tag Team Champions - Americas Most Wanted @ 02:33

In the blink of an eye it’s over!!! Too busy pounding down Storm on the outside, Burke doesn’t even realise it’s over until the bell rings, and looks up … stupefied to see that it’s Chris Harris that’s got his hand raised!! Booker is on his knees in the ring, wild eyed, motioning with his tights, as Harris immediately gets out of dodge, whilst Storm scrambles on his hands and knees around ringside - with the titles in his possession.

Joey Styles: No, no, no. Not again!!! Booker T and Elijah Burke have been ROBBED AGAIN!!!

Tazz: You ever get the feeling that some things just aint meant to be?? I’d say Booker T and Elijah Burke are thinking that right now!!

Michael Cole: By hook, or by crook, AMW remain the champions here tonight. They have beaten the challengers again. Is there any way back for Burke and Booker from this loss??

Joey Styles: If they could get a shot at the titles where Harris and Storm didn’t have to resort to underhanded tactics to win, we’d have new champions - THAT I guarantee. Americas Most Wanted know that Booker T and Elijah Burke have their number.

Michael Cole: But Joey, after tonight, they may just be out of title shots.

Joey Styles: If that’s the case, it’s a damn shame.

Burke and Booker stand in the ring, shaking their heads in annoyance, talking over what went down, as Booker again motions to his tights, before leaning on the ropes, head down, disappointed to have missed out on the titles AGAIN.

Backstage, ERIC BISCHOFF is seen making his way around, shaking hands with staff members, seemingly getting to know them, including lower ranked members of the roster; Chris Masters, Deuce, Domino, Hardcore Holly … and as he attempts to pass by Jamie Noble with a quick hello, Noble has other ideas, and makes a point to stop the GM.

Jamie Noble: Mister Bischoff, if I could have just’a moment of your time, I’d be truly grateful.

Bischoff steps back, smirks, then nods.

Eric Bischoff: Jamie Noble, isn’t it??

Noble nods.

Jamie Noble: Yes sir, Jamie Noble boyyy.

Bischoff chuckles.

Eric Bischoff: And how can I help you this evening, Jamie??

Jamie Noble: Look, I know he aint here tonight, but I want a match wi’ JBL. Me an’ him, one on one. I don’t care when it is. Next week, two weeks, I don’t care. Please Mister Bischoff.

Bischoff stands emotionless for a moment … then bursts into laughter.

Eric Bischoff: Puh-lease. I like your humour Jamie, but now isn’t the time.

Bischoff attempts to walk on, but Noble - serious as a heart attack - stands in his way.

Jamie Noble: I’m serious Mister Bischoff. I want JBL in that ring.

Eric Bischoff: Okay. Let me get this straight. You want a match. One on one?? With JBL - John Bradshaw Layfield?? After the beating he gave you last month?? Hell, after the beating he gave you … last week??

Noble nods.

Jamie Noble: Listen Mister Bischoff, I don’t care that he’s kicked ma rear end before. I don’t even care if he does it again. But I aint no pushover. Jamie Noble aint gonna take no ass whipping lyin down!! If JBL thinks he can bully me, that sonnuvabitch has another thing comin to him, I guarantee ya!!

Looking fired up, Noble stares through Bischoff, wanting his match with JBL.

Eric Bischoff: You really want a piece of JBL, huh??

Noble nods.

Eric Bischoff: Okay. Then prove it. Tonight. Go out to that ring later tonight Jamie, and prove to me how much you want JBL in that ring.

Noble accepts the challenge, and nods.

Jamie Noble: You got it.

The little ball of intensity walks off, leaving a bemused Bischoff to smirk, as he walks on down the hallway.

Opening shot of the American Flag waving proudly.

“What makes a GREAT American?”

Clips of Booker T & Elijah Burke high fiving, Paul London celebrating at Judgment Day with the United States title and Brock Lesnar fighting off The New Wave in May.

“Pride? Honour? Fighting spirit?”

ade to darkness, then clips of the cocky Brian Kendrick holding the Cruiserweight and United States titles on June 1, Edge screwing Batista out of the WWE title, and Randy Orton punting Nick Dinsmore.

“Or is it Greed? Callousness? Malice?”

Shot of JBL looking cocky, arms spread wide, soaking up heat most likely, before switching to the rugged Batista, shaking the ropes in the ring during a match.

“In todays society, it becomes more and more difficult to decipher just who are the noble, and who are dishonourable by looks alone”

Clip of Americas Most Wanted, decked out in their ring attire containing the American Flag.

“There are those that bring shame to the stars and stripes”

Shot of M.V.P throwing money away, whilst sporting an overload of bling necklaces, and JBL assaulting Jamie Noble.

“There are those that have brought shame to living the American Dream”

Clip of Randy Orton hitting the Hangmans DDT on RVD at Judgment Day, Americas Most Wanted getting in the face of young fans at ringside, and Brian Kendrick strutting.

“Champions with no class, dignity, honour or respect”

“But a true hallmark of ALL Great Americans … is hope”

Euphoric music kicks in, and lots of rapid shots are shown now, of Paul London soaring through the air, Brock Lesnar with an F5 on Garrison Cade, Brian Kendrick running like a scalded dog, Booker & Eli getting the better of AMW … and a flashing image of a dark figure (The Undertaker??) in the distance??

“On July 8, the WWE welcomes ALL Great Americans to gather as one, and HOPE for justice … HOPE for righteousness … HOPE that good overcomes evil … ”

The euphoric music stops, and slow images of the cold Randy Orton, the bitter Edge, the cocky Brian Kendrick, then the toothy grin of JBL.

We return, backstage with Kristal Marshall…

Kristal Marshall: In just a few moments, we will crown the Number One Contender to challenge the WWE Champion at The Great American Bash. And right now, I am standing by with one of the three men set to battle it out for that honour, The Iron Man, Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar enters the picture to a big pop.

Kristal Marshall: Brock, last week you made your intentions clear, stating that your focus was on reclaiming the WWE Championship. Now, the opportunity has come, with a title shot hanging in the balance tonight. Standing in your way though, is Edge and Paul London. Your thoughts??

Brock Lesnar: Let me ask you a question Kristal. When was the last time Brock Lesnar had a one on one shot at a World title??

Kristal shrugs, not knowing the answer.

Brock Lesnar: Ten months. It’s been ten months since I had a one on one match for a World title. Now, as far as I’m concerned, that’s ten months too long. I’m not in this business to make up the numbers Kristal. I’m not here for a pay check. There are two things that drive me on … and that’s busting heads and winning championships.

Small pop from the fans.

Brock Lesnar: Busting heads is fun, don’t get me wrong, Kristal. But right now, I just want to hold that WWE Championship again. Ten months for me is a long time … and I’m not known for being a patient guy either. So to say my patience is running thin would be an understatement … I’m desperate to get my hands on that title. And I don’t care if it’s Orton or Batista … if they’re bringing that WWE Title to the Great American Bash, they’re on my radar.

Lesnar tails off on the last few words, as his attention is diverted, and we see why … as EDGE arrives on the set.

Brock Lesnar: Can I help you with something??

Edge s......s, and rubs his beard.

Edge: Did- did you just say … you’re … desperate??

Brock stands still for a moment, wondering why the question was asked, before nodding. Edge shakes his head in response, and takes off his shades, looking Brock dead in the eye.

Edge: Until you step in my shoes … you don’t know the MEANING of the word.

The Rated ‘R’ Superstar storms off, leaving Lesnar to contemplate, as we fade out.

Back to ringside…

Paul London, to a heck of a response, walks onto the stage, ahead of the #1 Contender Match.

Michael Cole: What an opportunity this is for Paul London!! The United States Champion could book a date with destiny on July 8 with the WWE Champion, whomever that may be at the end of tonight.

Joey Styles: What a fairytale story it could be for this man. In the next four weeks Paul London could possibly be holding not just the U.S Title, but the King of the Ring crown, and the WWE Championship. This could turn out to be THE defining month of Paul Londons career!!

Tazz: Lotta people are gonna be pullin for London to win this one if you ask me guys. A true underdog story in the makin.

To undeniable heat, Edge emerges through the smoke, looking as focused and as fired up as ever.

Joey Styles: How many more chances will Edge get?? He carried the Money in the Bank briefcase for twelve months, pondering when to cash it in, and he blew it. He’s lost a number one contender match to Chris Jericho, then got another bite at the cherry at Judgment Day in the Fatal Four Way and lost that too. Somehow, he weaselled his way to another #1 Contenders match two weeks ago and lost to Batista!! Yet, here he is again with ANOTHER opportunity to earn a shot at the title. Surely THIS is the last crack Edge will get for the foreseeable future??

Tazz: You make a strong point, Joe. Edge has been given chance after chance to grab that elusive first WWE Championship, yet he keeps coming up short.

Michael Cole: But gentlemen, Edge believes he was wronged two weeks ago, he-

Joey Styles: He’s full of excuses, Michael Cole. At some point, Edge has to take responsibility for his shortcomings.

And it’s a massive reaction for a massive superstar!! Brock Lesnar charges onto the stage with a purpose, wasting no time in storming down the aisle.

Michael Cole: For London and Edge, this match represents an opportunity to climb to the top of the mountain for the very first time. But for Lesnar, this is an opportunity to go back where he believes he belongs - at the very top. Lesnar is a former four time WWE Champion, but since losing the title at WrestleMania Twenty Two last year, he has not tasted any form of championship gold. The Iron Man admitted himself - he’s desperate!!

Joey Styles: And that is not a man you want to deal with when he’s desperate. Brock Lesnar is the type of person that gets what he wants, when he wants. Tonight, he wants to be the number one contender, and good luck to Edge and Paul London in trying to stop him.

Tazz: Yeah. Good luck indeed.

Michael Cole: Which of these three men will advance to the Great American Bash and challenge the WWE Champion?? Find out, when we return!!

Commercial Break

Paul London vs. Edge vs. Brock Lesnar
Cagey opening seconds, with all three men wary … until Lesnar clocks Edge, and hammers the Rated ‘R’ Superstar through the middle rope, sending him out of the ring, leaving Brock and London. London, despite being very much disadvantaged here, shows no signs of fear, and launches at Brock, throwing everything he has at the Iron Man, with Lesnar shoving him off, then looking to decapitate London with a running clothesline, but London ducks under, then hits Lesnar with a dropsault, sending Brock tumbling into the ropes, which Edge lowers, and Brock tumbles out of the ring!!!

Edge then stomps Brock on the outside, before sending him into the barrier, taking the big man out of the equation for the time being. Edge re-enters the ring, and collides with London, with the two men going back and forth, but not for long, with Lesnar not staying down for long, and getting back inside. Brock makes a beeline for Edge, but London doesn’t take a back seat, getting involved with both men. After a series of all three men trading kicks, punches and blows, Edge and London momentarily team together to take down Brock with a double suplex … then Edge walks into a roundhouse kick from London!!! London scores a two, then gets to his feet, running off the ropes … BUT RUNS INTO BROCK LESNAR ON THE REBOUND … AND LESNAR TURNS HIM INSIDE OUT WITH A BELLY TO BELLY!!!

Lesnar returns from nowhere, surprising London, and the impact of the move sends the U.S Champion out of the ring, leaving Brock and Edge to battle it out. The two bonafide main eventers duke it out, with Lesnar winning a fist fight, but drops his guard, and falls to the Buzz Killer, but it’s only good for a two count. Edge stays on top, hammering Brock, but the Iron Man battles back, fighting to his feet, and runs off the ropes to gather steam - BUT EDGE BOOTS HIM ON THE RETURN!! Again, it’s only good enough for two, but now, Edge senses the opening is there, and rises to his feet, hovering in the corner, crouching down … AND LOOKS FOR THE SPEAR … BUT LONDON DROPSAULTS LESNAR … AND EDGE RUNS INTO THE CORNER!!!

The Golden Boy instantly rolls up Edge, 1...2...NO!!! Edge kicks out, and as London gets back to his feet, Lesnar - a little worse for wear - looks for a clothesline, but London ducks, and Brock knocks Edge back down instead as he follows through, sending Edge out of the ring. Now, London and Lesnar are left to battle, with London trying to stick and move, not staying within range for Lesnar … but is captured eventually, and DRILLED with a German suplex for a close fall. The Iron Man now has his wicked way with London, dominating the smaller man, but CANT put him away, as London finds the strength to kick out of a Fisherman buster and a second Belly to Belly.

Brock begins to wonder what he has to do, and lifts London up … WITH LONDON FIGHTING BACK!!! London surprises the big man, rocking Brock with everything he’s got, eventually taking Lesnar down with a series of arm drags, dazing the big man, allowing London to climb the ropes, and look for a cross body … BUT HE GETS CAUGHT … AND THROWN ONTO LESNARS SHOULDERS … F5 … NO!!! LONDON COUNTERS … INTO A TORNADO DDT!!!!! Could it be a shocking upset?? London covers … 1...2...KICK OUT!!!

London cant believe it. The U.S Champion shakes his head, and gets to his feet - NOT REALISING WHAT’S COMING - and turns around … INTO A SPEAR!!! Edge sneaks into the ring, and scores a massive spear … sneaking through the back door for the win, making the cover … 1...2...LESNAR BREAKS THE COUNT!!! Edge is livid, and leaps onto the Iron Man, wildly pounding Brock, before dragging him up, and ramming him into the corner, shoulder first into the post!!! Edge then shoves the big man out, leaving himself and London in the ring, with London looking like easy prey. Edge sets himself, waiting for the U.S Champion to get up … AND CHARGES AT HIM … BUT LONDON LEAP FROGS HIM!! Edge stops himself from hitting the corner, but London dropkicks him from behind, forcing Edge into the buckle, and London follows up - BRIDGING DRAGON SUPLEX … 1...2...NO!!!

Edge gets a shoulder up, leaving London to once again despair. The Golden Boy runs his fingers through his hair, as he gets up … WHEN BROCK LESNAR COMES FROM BEHIND … AND CHUCKS HIM OUT OF THE RING THROUGH THE MIDDLE ROPE - HEAD FIRST!!! London lands horribly on the outside, as it comes down to Edge and Lesnar again. The Iron Man gets on Edge immediately, hoisting him up, looking for the kill … GOING FOR THE F5 … BUT EDGE COUNTERS INTO A CRADLE … 1...2...NO!!!

Lesnar was nearly caught, but gets up, and runs through Edge with a clothesline putting him straight back down. Brock drags Edge up, whipping him to the corner, and running in, nailing Edge with a running knee to the face, then attempts to do it again in the opposite corner … BUT EDGE DARTS OUT OF THE CORNER - NO ONE HOME FOR LESNAR!!! Edge races off the ropes … AND THE SPEAR CONNECTS!!! Edge hooks the leg, 1...2...KICK OUT!!!!! The Rated ‘R’ Superstar cant believe it, his eyes bugging out, fingers running through his hair. Now, looking more desperate, Edge gets up, and inexplicably climbs the ropes, perching himself up top … but before he can fly - LESNAR IS UP!!! Brock stops Edge with a shot to the gut, and then follows up top, as the two men trade blows, with both having differing ideas. Lesnar looks for a superplex, while Edge tries to fight it … but Lesnar overpowers him … AND GOES FOR THE SUPERPLEX … BUT EDGE TRIES TO COUNTER WITH A CROSS BODY IN MID AIR … AND BOTH MEN CRASH ONTO THE CANVAS!!!

Both men are down - and both stay down!! Suddenly, the fans come alive … AS LONDON REAPPEARS … CLIMBING THE TURNBUCKLES!!! The U.S Champion could do it here, with both opponents down, and Edge looking in a perfect spot for the 450 Splash … The Golden Boy takes an eternity to reach the top rope, selling the effects of the landing he took out of the ring, but he gets there in the end, and it looks like London could set up a Champion vs. Champion match at The Great American Bash … HE SETS HIMSELF … BUT GETS SHOVED OFF THE TOP ROPE AND INTO THE BARRIER!!!!

The jealous Cruiserweight Champion costs Paul London a certain win, and a shot at the richest prize in the game!!! Kendrick hops off the apron, with a cocky smile on his face, and makes his way up the aisle, nodding, ignoring the abuse of the fans … whilst in the ring, Edge and Lesnar both begin to stir, and it’s Brock to strike first, pounding the back of Edge, sending him off the ropes … BUT EDGE DUCKS UNDER A CLOTHESLINE … COMES OFF THE OPPOSITE SIDE … LESNAR AVOIDS A SPEAR ATTEMPT!!! Edge crashes onto the middle rope, and bounces up, staggering … RIGHT INTO LESNAR … RIGHT INTO AN F5!!! Lesnar scrambles, and hooks BOTH legs, making sure of the win, 1...2...3!!!!!
Winner: And #1 CONTENDER - Brock Lesnar @ 13:10

Joey Styles: BROCK LESNAR WINS!!! The Iron Man is going to the Great American Bash, and he will challenge the WWE Champion!! Will it be Randy Orton, or will it be Batista??

Michael Cole: Whichever it is Joey, it will be the FIRST EVER meeting between them!! Brock Lesnar has never faced Randy Orton OR Batista one on one.

Tazz: It’s gonna be off the hook guys!! July 8 in Philly!!

Joey Styles: A huge win for Brock Lesnar, but you’ve gotta feel for Paul London tonight. It looked to me that he had the opportunity to connect with the 450 Splash, and in my opinion, had he done so, he’d be on his way to a Champion vs. Champion match at the Bash!!

Tazz: What the heck was Brian Kendrick thinkin!!??

Michael Cole: If there was any doubt that that friendship had dissolved, there is none now, surely. Brian Kendrick just burned any bridge with Paul London.

Brock Lesnar, having had his hand raised, walks up the aisle, happy with the result tonight, on his way to the Great American Bash. On the outside, Paul London regroups, holding his head, as the official checks on the U.S Champ, making sure he’s okay. Meanwhile, in the ring, Edge sits up, leaning back on the ropes, looking to the heavens, having BLOWN another chance to challenge for the WWE Title.

Narrator: Which superstar will use the King of the Ring tournament to follow these legends, icons and immortals into the pantheon of greatness??

Back into the arena…

Michael Cole: The 2007 King of the Ring will be crowned two weeks tomorrow on Saturday Nights Main Event, and next week, the entire Quarter Final line up will be determined. We have just been informed that this coming Tuesday on Superstars that Charlie Haas will meet Finlay for a place in the Elite Eight, whilst the remaining three Smackdown qualifiers will all take place on Smackdown.

Joey Styles: And what a week it promises to be next Friday. Brent Albright and Jeff Hardy, Paul London and Ken Doane, and of course, the biggest grudge match in the entire history of the King of the Ring tournament, MVP and Carlito.

Tazz: Oh boy. We might just see the winner of that Albright, Hardy match up getting a bye to the Semi Finals. Because if you ask me, Carlito is entering that match next week with bad intentions. He could get himself disqualified, and injure MVP in the process.

Michael Cole: Which is totally the wrong frame of mind. Carlito is allowing his emotions to get the better of him. He has the opportunity to become the King of the Ring here. The chance to follow in the footsteps of greats like Bret Hart, Kurt Angle and Steve Austin. And he’s gonna blow it for revenge!!

To vociferous heat, MVP enters the arena, dressed immaculately in a sharp, tailor made suit - accompanied as ever by the overload of bling necklaces etc.

Joey Styles: Well, we know MVP isn’t happy with this situation. He’s made it abundantly clear that he wants no part of Carlito. He feels he is putting his career in jeopardy by getting in the ring with Carlito.

Michael Cole: And I can see where he’s coming from. MVP is the highest paid superstar on this show. He doesn’t want to put that in jeopardy by wrestling a guy that doesn’t care if he loses. He doesn’t want to get in the ring with a man that is only interested in decapitating him. Why should he!!??

MVP picks up a mic, and talks over the cat calls from the fans.

M.V.P: When I pitched up here on Smackdown six months ago, I negotiated the biggest contract in the shows history. My basic salary alone blew everyone else outta the water.

M.V.P: But that wasn’t all. Thanks to my bargaining skills, I worked in a whole range of added bonuses. Things like a ten per cent raise if I won the Royal Rumble and headlined WrestleMania. A one off sum if I became Mister Money in the Bank … Ten grand for every month I stayed undefeated, an extra fifty grand if I went six months without being pinned or made to submit.

Porter leans up against the ropes, looking to the fans.

M.V.P: Well … I didn’t win the Royal Rumble. No biggie. I only debuted a month before it anyway. But what about Money in the Bank?? How about that six month undefeated bonus?? Missed out on those. Wanna know why?? Because of a little pest that goes by the name of Carlito. That’s why I didn’t get those bonuses.

MVP shakes his head in disgust.

M.V.P: That punk cost me Money in the Bank at WrestleMania. And then, by the grace of God, he scored the luckiest win of his career when he beat me on Smackdown two months back.

Ironic cheers from the fans.

M.V.P: No bonuses, no rises. Undefeated streak?? That’s gone. Carlito has cost me all kinds of cash by stickin his nose in my damn business. Not only is that idiot costing me money … the lunatic is now tryin to cost me my damn livelihood.

Faint ‘CAR-LIT-O’ chant.

M.V.P: Yeah, chant his name. That bloodthirsty fool wanted to end my career at Judgment Day!! I admit, I went a little too far when I attacked Carlitos little brother. We all make mistakes in the heat of the moment, right?? I’ve apologised, time and time again for my actions. Carlito?? He has no excuse. He’s cold. He’s calculated. That guy needs to be locked up if you ask me. He wants to end my God damn career!!!

Porter pauses for a moment.

M.V.P: I should be protected from this maniac … and yet I have to face him next week in the King of the Ring?? I’m due a massive bonus if I win the King of the Ring tournament. How in the hell do I do that if Carlito breaks my neck!!?? Answer me that!!

MVP looks around, as if to ask the fans for an answer.

M.V.P: I can accept losin. I can accept that. But I refuse to accept being injured - purposely - by a psychopathic madman!! That’s not fair if you ask me. So, Eric Bischoff, this is what I’m asking of you … throw Carlito out of the King of the Ring tournament-

M.V.P: Fire his ass, and give me a bye to the Elite Eight. That’s the fair way to do things if you ask me.

More boos for Porter.

Instantly, the fans boos turn to cheers, as Carlito enters the stage, whilst MVP immediately hops out of the ring, and puts a foot over the barrier, expecting a chase from Carlito. The man from the Caribbean though stands on the top of the ramp though, with a mic in hand, and talks as his music dies down.

Carlito: Carlito was jus sitting in the back listening to what ju’ve been sayin Montel. And, d’yknow what?? Ju’re full o’ crap.

Pop from the fans. MVP gets back into the ring meanwhile, narrowing his eyebrows.

Carlito: Did you really say you could handle getting beat?? Because, I gotta say, das not how Carlito remembers it. See, after Carlito beat you … you lost jure cool. You tried to end Carlitos career. Remember??

Porter shrugs in the ring.

Carlito: Das right. You tried to cripple Carlito … but ju failed. So instead, you went and targeted Carlitos little brother. And you didn’t fail second time, did’ju??

Carlito snarls, as he relives seeing his brothers brutal beat down.

Carlito: Dat wasn’t instinctive either. What ju did Montel … it was cold, calculated, heartless … and GUTLESS. An’ in Carlitos world, I don’t forgive … I don’t forget. Da best form of revenge in Carlitos world … is an eye … for an eye.

Pop from the fans.

Carlito: An’ next week, whether you like it, or not … you’re gonna look Carlito in da eye, face to face in dat ring. And lemme make somethin clear. Dis thing between you and Carlito?? It’ll end next week. Carlito’ll see to it personally. Because Motel, Carlito don’t care about winnin. Carlito don’t care about losin. Da only thing on Carlitos mind will be what you tried to do to Carlito, and what you did to Primo.

Porter gulps, as Carlito stares down the ramp.

Carlito: Like Carlito said … an eye … for an eye.

Carlito turns, and walks, leaving MVP to stand in the ring, and now for the next seven days, worry about what’s to come next week on Smackdown.

Commercial Break

We return with Jamie Noble already in the ring, awaiting his opponent this evening.

Michael Cole: Welcome back to Smackdown, and moments ago, we witnessed something I never thought I’d see from Carlito. He has basically promised to end MVP’s career next week on Smackdown.

Tazz: Well, he didn’t quite go that far Cole-

Michael Cole: Not in so many words, but I think we all got the idea. Eric Bischoff could have a major problem on his hands next Friday, if Carlito comes into Smackdown with the intention on ending another mans career.

Joey Styles: Carlito is a proud man. He loves his family, and he can never forget what MVP done to his little brother. I’m not condoning what he’s doing by any stretch. An eye for an eye is NOT the answer. But it’s clear that Carlito has reached a point where it’s beyond wins and losses.

Michael Cole: Well, in that case, he shouldn’t be here. Once your primary objective is to hurt and maim opponents, rather than win matches, win championships, and further your career, then you should be fighting in underground fight clubs inside cages. Or in run down bingo halls, - you know the kind Joey - where you stab opponents with broken shards of glass. This is the WWE. We’re a global brand, and Carlitos attitude, his actions, are making it look second rate. It’s guys like Carlito that give the WWE a bad name.

Joey Styles: Run down bingo halls??

Tazz: Hey Cole, that aint cool. I came from those run down bingo halls, as you like to put it.

Joey Styles: It seems ignorance is bliss.

Michael Cole: Sorry guys, but I just don’t see the appeal in it.

Tazz: It’s a very narrow minded opinion, Cole. Something you’ve never said to me before. Maybe you oughta jump outside the bubble you-

Michael Cole: Listen guys, I’ve already apologised. I’m feeling very claustrophobic with this three man booth, okay?? This table isn’t big enough for three guys to sit around. I need room to think in order to do my job.

Daivaris music hits, and helps Cole to quickly change the subject, as the Arab-American cruiserweight is revealed as Nobles challenge tonight.

Match 5:
Jamie Noble vs. Daivari
With the big main event still to come, and little time left to showcase it, these two are deprived of the time needed to put together a meaningful match. Noble is aggressive from the outset, wanting to impress Bischoff enough for a crack at JBL. Daivari though, has an agenda himself, and doesn’t take things lying down, putting up a fight, but in the end, falls to the Tiger Bomb, with Noble getting an impressive 1...2...3!!!
Winner: Jamie Noble @ 03:37

Delighted, Noble celebrates his victory like a championship win, having done exactly what was asked of him to earn a match with JBL.

Joey Styles: Good for Jamie Noble!! What this guy lacks in stature, he more than makes up for it in tenacity and will. He doesn’t care if he’s a foot shorter than JBL, or a hundred pounds lighter. Jamie Noble wants a piece of his former leader, and he’s willing to do anything it takes to do it!!

Tazz: Jamie ‘By Gawd’ Noble has really caught fire recently. He’s got the desire back that he seemed to have lost, and y’know, don’t rule this kid out, guys.

Michael Cole: Has he done enough though to convince the interim General Manager that he deserves another match with the self proclaimed ‘Wrestling God’?? That remains to be seen.

Joey Styles: I’m sure we will soon find out, but Jamie Noble hasn’t hurt his chances tonight, that’s for sure.

Michael Cole: Well, the time is nearly upon us guys. We are gearing up for the main event. The WWE Championship will be on the line, as Randy Orton defends the WWE Title against Batista!!!

Commercial Break

The video opens up with a crowded picture akin to the ‘Where’s Waldo’ (or Wally for the British), and the voiceover speaks;

“Where is The Undertaker in this picture?”

The camera moves around the picture, moving closer, up, down, left, right … no sign of The Undertaker.

“Did you find him??”

The camera continues to move around the picture, but it seems like it’s impossible to spot where The Undertaker is.

“Of course you didn’t. Because he isn’t there.”

The clip changes to an early sight of The Undertaker, circa 91/92, methodically walking to the ring.

“After a decade and a half of destruction, The Undertaker has disappeared from the face of the earth … but why??”

Clips of The Undertaker with the title at WrestleMania XIII, face to face with Kane the following year, and throwing Mick Foley off the Hell in a Cell roof.

“This, a man who has struck fear into his rivals, a man who dominated men bigger even than he is, a man who won multiple championships … gone … but why??”

Cut to a clip of JBL, standing tall in the ring.

“This is why”

Clips of JBL attacking opponents.

“The Undertaker is a coward. He looks at JBL, and sees the biggest threat to his reign as the conscience of the WWE. And instead of standing tall, and fighting like a man, he has disappeared, into the shadows”

Cut back to a mix of old and recent shots of The Undertaker.

“So now, it‘s up to you … the fans … to decide”

Shot’s of Taker delivering countless Tombstones.

“Is The Undertaker a fraud??”

Clips of Takers wins at WrestleManias.

“Has The Undertaker fed you lies for over fifteen years??”

Flashing shots of Taker sitting up, hitting Old School, and the cut throat taunt.

“Is he the Deadman or the Conman??”

Close up of Taker rolling his eyes back.

“Phenom or Phoney??”

Cut to black. Then back to clips of JBL.

“JBL knows the answers. He has been hunting The Undertaker for over two months, but The Undertaker remains in hiding. JBL has publicly challenged The Undertaker … but The Undertaker remains in the shadows”

Mocking images of Taker; first with a yellow streak on his back, then a clear photoshop of JBL standing over The Deadman.

“Let it be known. Tell your friends, tell your neighbours, tell your family, and tell your work colleagues. The Undertaker fears … John … Bradshaw … Layfield”

Back to ringside…

Joey Styles: JBL continues to dog The Undertaker.

Tazz: Listen Joe, The Undertaker is one freaky dude. If he don’t wanna be found, he aint gonna be. And no amount of humiliating videos are gonna bring him out of the shadows.

Michael Cole: Indeed, The Undertaker has not been seen, since being carried from the ring at WrestleMania, after his epic victory against Kurt Angle. That match, more than any other in his career took The Deadman to the limit. As far as my opinion goes, I simply believe that that match took more out of The Undertaker than any before, to the point where The Deadman will never return.

Joey Styles: You make a good point Michael. However, the more JBL peddles this notion that The Undertaker is hiding in fear from him, more and more fans will start to actually believe it. Perception, as they say … is reality.

Michael Cole: Be that as it may, JBL will be here in person next Friday, because the self proclaimed ‘Wrestling God’ will be in action. That’s right, Jamie Noble has been granted a one on one shot at his former leader - and it will be a NO Disqualification Match.

Tazz: Oh boy, Jamie Noble could be in, WAY over his head on that one.

Joey Styles: And of course, the King of the Ring tournament heats up. THREE second round matches will take place on Smackdown; the United States Champion Paul London takes on Ken Doane, Jeff Hardy meets Brent Albright, and of course, the biggest grudge match in King of the Ring history; it’s MVP, one on one, with Carlito.

Tazz: I cannot wait for that, Joe. HUGE week on Smackdown next Friday.

Michael Cole: But that, gentlemen, is next Friday. TONIGHT, we still have our main event to come. And what a main event. They don’t come much bigger; Batista challenges Randy Orton!! The Animal has the opportunity to become WWE Champion for the first time, and right now, he is in the back, with Josh Mathews. Josh??

Cut to Mathews…

Josh Mathews: Indeed, I am standing by with none other than the #1 Contender, Batista!!

Batista steps into the picture to a rapturous pop from the fans.

Josh Mathews: Batista, the biggest opportunity of your career awaits in just a moment. The history between you and Randy Orton is well documented, but will that inside information on the champion prove to be a pivotal factor??

Batista: It’s true that I know Orton inside out. I know how his mind works. I know how the guy operates. I watched him develop in Evolution, I know all the tricks he was taught. I know his strengths … and his weaknesses. But Josh, there’s only one piece of information that truly matters tonight. And it’s not that I know what Orton is gonna do before he does it. Nuh uh. There’s one thing I know that makes the difference.

Batista pauses, and lets the suspense grow.

Batista: I know that tonight … I’m leavin Denver with the WWE Championship!!!

Big pop from the fans.

Batista: Randy?? Tonight, your world comes apart. You’ve pushed the only allies you had away … the only chance you had of stopping me … and you pushed them away. So, for all your misdemeanours, all your callous actions over the last six months … tonight is payback. And payback is a-

Voice: Dream.

The camera pans out … and shows RANDY ORTON. There is heat for the WWE Champion, as he walks onto the set, locking eyes with Batista.

Randy Orton: Payback is simply a dream. Just like this crazy notion that YOU are walking out with MY Championship.

Orton walks around Batista, trying to unnerve The Animal, but Batista shows no signs of nerves.

Randy Orton: You make it seem like I didn’t work out how your minds ticks Dave. In all our time together in Evolution, I worked you out too … not that there was much to gage from that head.

Batista clenches his jaw, refusing to respond to the insult.

Randy Orton: And as for strengths and weaknesses?? Please. I know ALL your strengths, and all your weaknesses. And trust me … there are way more weaknesses … than strengths.

Orton continues to try and walk around him, but Batista suddenly grips Orton, and shoves him into the wall, holding his forearm across the throat of the champion. Orton tries to wriggle free, but Batista overpowers him.

Batista: I GUESS … we’re even then.

The Animal lets go, as Orton looks to contemplate a cheap shot, but thinks better of it.

Batista: May the best man win, huh??

Batista shoves Orton out of the way, and charges out of the picture, as Orton tries to gather himself.

Commercial Break

Back into the arena…

Batista enters, and makes his way to the ring, with the fans solidly behind The Animal tonight, in his quest to take the WWE title.

The Animal goes through his usual ring entrance routine, as Cole, Styles and Tazz hype up this massive main event.

Batista paces around the ring now, as the camera quickly switches backstage, showing BROCK LESNAR standing, watching on a monitor, as he gears up to face the winner at the Great American Bash.

As always, the hatred of the fans for Orton is clear to see. The WWE Champion strides onto the stage, cold and as calculated as ever, ignoring the heat from the audience, pacing toward the ring, not taking his eyes off Batista.

Orton takes his time, stepping inside, with Batista chomping at the bit, pacing back and forth, wanting the match to be on already.

Again, we see Lesnar watching on a monitor backstage, whilst the introductions take place, and the main event set to begin.

Randy Orton vs. Batista
The match gets the big match build up, and starts off cagily, with a few lock ups, and a few stalemates. But, Batista eventually wins the battle, showing off his superior strength. The match soon breaks down, with Orton realising he cant compete with his challenger in the strength department, but the champion finds himself on the losing end of a fist fight too, beaten to the punch by Batista. Orton is livid, and takes a walk around ringside to clear his head … BUT BATISTA ISNT WAITING!!! The Animal follows out, and grabs Orton from behind, looking to send him into the post, but Orton manages to counter, and hurls Batista into the STEPS!!!

Orton gets the opening he wanted, and, doesn’t waste it, going to work on Batista, hammering him on the outside, then rolls back in. It seems Orton is content to score a count out win, not coming back for Dave, and instead allowing the referee to count him out. Batista though is far too fresh to lose the count, and makes it back inside the ring for SIX, but Orton is on him from the get go. Orton stomps down the big man, then sends him off into the corner, racing in after him - but Batista fires back with a reverse elbow!!

The champion staggers out, and The Animal follows up, charging out of the corner with a clothesline!! Orton stumbles straight back up, and staggers into a sidewalk slam, with Batista covering, 1...2...NO!! Orton doesn’t give in, but Batista has the advantage now, and the challenger gets to work, taking Orton apart, busting him in the corner with blows, elbows, knees … and the challenger enjoys seeing Orton squirm … but it doesn’t get the job done. The Animal is unable to put the champion down for the decisive three count, even after a running power slam.

Batista takes the fight to the outside, attempting to continue putting the hurting on the champion, and rams Orton into the apron - three times, as the pain is etched on Randys face, before Batista picks him up, running Orton into the ring post, back first!!! Back inside, Batista knocks him back down, and goes for the cover, 1...2...NO!!! Batista starts to get more agitated, getting to his feet, sticking his boot to the face of the fading champion, dragging him to his feet. Batista then runs off his ropes himself, building up some speed to nail Orton … BUT ORTON DUCKS UNDER … AND SCORES WITH HIS REVERSE NECK/BACK BREAKER!!! Orton makes the cover, 1...2...NO!!!

Now though, Orton has an opening back into the match, and he pounds Batista, not allowing The Animal back up. It’s all Orton for a period now, with The Animal unable to muster any offence, as Orton picks it up a gear … but like Batista, he cant find a way to finish the opponent off. Batista starts to fight back, hammering the gut of the champion, getting to his feet, running off the ropes … BUT RUNS RIGHT INTO A POWERSLAM!!! Orton hooks the leg, 1...2...NO!!! Batista refuses to give in … but he may not have a choice in the matter for much longer, as Orton now looks to be setting himself for the RKO!!!

Orton stalks The Animal, as the challenger struggles to his feet. Batista reaches his base, ORTON SPINS HIM AROUND … RK-NO!!! BATISTA SHOVES ORTON INTO THE ROPES … AND DRILLS HIM ON THE RETURN WITH A SPINEBUSTER!!!!! The Pepsi Centre is ROCKING, as the prospect of a NEW WWE Champion becomes a big reality!!! Batista is up, AND SHAKES THE ROPES!!! The fans are on their feet, as Batista picks Orton up … FOR THE BATISTA BOMB … BUT ORTON FIGHTS IT!!!

Orton, fighting with all he has left, hammers Batista, preventing the bomb, with Batista losing his grip, and Orton lands back on his feet!! The two men trade blows, back and forth … but Batista drills Orton with a knee to the gut, AND GOES FOR THE BATISTA BOMB AGAIN … BUT ORTON FREES HIMSELF AGAIN … RKO!!!!! Orton, worse for wear, is slow to make his cover, draping an arm over The Animal … 1...2...NO!!!

The match continues!!! Orton took too long with the cover, and Batista survives the count!! Orton slowly, wearily makes it to his feet, with Batista slowly beginning to stir himself. The champion reaches his feet, looking at the state of Batista … AND GOES FOR THE DEADLY PUNT … BUT MISSES!!! Orton kicks fresh air!! The champ spins around, and launches at Batista … BUT THE ANIMAL RISES … AND WITH A SURGE OF POWER CHARGES ORTON INTO THE CORNER!!!

Batista opens up on Orton, hammering the champion in the corner, then sends him with incredible velocity to the opposite corner. Fired up, The Animal CHARGES across the ring, looking for a splash in the corner … BUT ORTON DRAGS THE REFEREE IN HIS WAY!!! Charles Robinson gets squashed between challenger and champion, and the official is surely out of commission!!! Robinson drops in a heap, as Batista takes a moment to think, shaking his head in fury. The Animal now takes his frustration out on the champion, shoving Orton out of the ring, following outside himself.

On the outside, it’s all Batista again, with the challenger making the most of the referee bump; picking up the steps, and NAILING the champion with the object. The Animal effortlessly picks Orton up, dropping him on the barrier, before taking him back inside the ring, as he looks to finally put a finishing touch on Orton. The challenger stands over Orton, taking his time, signalling for the Batista Bomb again, getting Orton onto his knees, between his legs … BUT ORTON GETS DESPERATE … AND LOW BLOWS BATISTA!!!

Batista drops to a knee, and both men are now down, with the referee STILL out from the corner splash. Both men are worn out, and both struggle to get back to their feet, each using opposite sides to pull themselves up on the ropes getting to their feet, with Orton coming at Batista, but The Animal ducks under, and elevates Orton over the top rope, to the apron. Batista turns, and drags Orton back up, looking to suplex him back inside the ring … BUT WE SEE EDGE … COMING IN FROM THE CROWD … SLIDING INTO THE RING WITH A CHAIR … AND LEVELS BATISTA!!!

Batista staggers away after the impact of the chair shot to the back … AS EDGE FOLLOWS UP WITH A SHOT TO THE SKULL!!! Batista goes down, and a smiling Orton slithers back inside, looking to pick up the scraps … BUT EDGE SPEARS THE CHAMPION!!!!! Edges furies boil over!!! The frustration of Edge is clear to see, with the Rated ‘R’ Superstar taking out BOTH men. Edge though, isn’t done, and lifts the chair back up, standing over Batista … AND SLAMS THE CHAIR OFF HIS HEAD - ONE MAN (ONE CHAIR) CON-CHAIR-TO!!! Edge, remorseless, gets out of the ring, and hops back over the barrier, leaving as he came, as Orton somehow drapes an arm over the Animal. It takes a few moments, but Charles Robinson finally comes to, and makes the slowest of counts … 1 .……… 2 .……… 3!!!!!
Winner: And STILL WWE Champion - Randy Orton @ 15:27

The fans shit all over the finish, as Orton survives with his title in tact. Orton retains, but he looks far from being a champion right now, after suffering the spear from the frustrated Edge.

Joey Styles: Dress it up whatever way you like, Batista just got ROBBED!!!

Michael Cole: Dress it up whatever way you like; Randy Orton is STILL WWE Champion!!!

Joey Styles: Thanks to Edge, we’ll never know who would’ve walked out of here tonight as the better man. Batista appeared in my eyes to be seconds away from finishing off Orton once and for all!!

Tazz: What the heck has gotta be goin through the mind of Edge right now?? The guy has lost it if you ask me.

Michael Cole: Edge, after his loss tonight, is further away than he has ever been before from becoming WWE Champion. I guess in Edge’s eyes, if he cant be the champion, then perhaps NO ONE should be champ!!!

In the ring, Batista is STILL out cold, whilst Randy Orton, looking out of sorts, stumbles out of the ring, and up the ramp.

Joey Styles: There will be a price to pay, let me tell you that. Batista will not let Edge get away with this. No way.

Michael Cole: That may be true, Joey, but one thing is for SURE. Randy Orton will defend the WWE Championship on July 8 at the Great American Bash against none other than Brock Lesnar!!! Through hell or high water, Orton is STILL the champion, but for how much longer?? Goodnight everybody!!

Current Card for WWE Great American Bash:
Date: 8th July 2007
Location: Wachovia Centre, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Event Music: Alter Bridge; Rise Today

WWE Championship Match:
Randy Orton vs. Brock Lesnar

Re: Being The Booker

SmackDown! Feedback

A nice way to start the show, really drumming home the importance of this promo with Anderson’s future on the line by starting cold and allowing Ventura to come out to open things up. Having Ventura get right down to business in calling Anderson out to the ring makes sense, because he has portrayed that no nonsense type of authority character since being made commissioner. Ventura distancing himself from the decision to cancel the title match is a nice way to keep him looking like a face, while I’m glad you’re delivering the title match tonight, as I feel like it shouldn’t be teased at too much without actually being delivered. The line that it would be the last title match Anderson would decide for some time came out of nowhere, but, as Ventura said, he was going to be abrupt, and I personally felt like it made the announcement have a higher impact upon the reader (or viewer, whatever). The reasoning that was went over by Ventura was well done, because, while he was telling Arn off in a way, at the same time he was coming off as the face that you’d want him to. At the same time, Ventura standing up for Anderson by not actually firing him, but rather giving him that suspension. It’s actually an interesting dynamic that you’ve created with Anderson being gone for twelve weeks too, because upon return it could lead to some interesting storylines, should he actually return. Anderson’s heartfelt speech was pretty nice too, giving the promo that realistic feel, before the introduction of Eric Bischoff. Honestly, I found it a bit weird that Bischoff did get the gig from Ventura after Ventura ran him down and said he needed watching over just a few weeks ago, but I obviously don’t mind it, because Bischoff’s character can always be one that gets involved in your storylines. At least the tension was still there, as shown by Ventura not taking Bischoff’s crap before leaving. Very nice announcements from Bischoff too, as you’d expect from a GM who wants to make an impact, making for a big SmackDown!. Have to say that I love the inclusion of Paul London in the number one contenders match, because, while he won’t win, he obviously gets a bit of a rub there. Edge being included confuses me if his complaint was ignored due to supposedly having to go to the back of the line, but still, a big match added to an already pretty stacked card, making for an exciting show. Good way to kick things off.

Not at all a fan of the heel/heel dynamic we’ve got here. While Kendrick may still get some cheers in his matches, he’s in the midst of a pretty much complete heel turn, and having him against Albright is only going to slow down his heel momentum. Either that or the crowd just wouldn’t care, which doesn’t make for much of a match. Regardless of that, this was a nice win for Albright to keep him looking strong, although I can’t help but feel it makes Kendrick’s possible claim for a US Title match a bit weak considering he just lost to the guy who London beat to become champion.

Nice reminder of Orton’s actions from last week with him rocking up, also giving a bit of hype to the main event.

Pretty simple win here for Hardy to send him through to the next round, as expected. Kash has barely featured since losing his Cruiserweight Title at WrestleMania, so it’s no surprise he fell here.

All four KOTF sweet sixteen matches next week? That already has the card looking pretty damn exciting.

A nice promo from Paul London here. You overcame his lack of real character well with him having that fun vibe, while also talking up himself and the US Title well. The talk about his possible future, while a bit arrogant, was still done in a way that endears him to the crowd too, which is good to see. The speech about wanting it to be Orton was done really well too, giving the promo some real emotion by creating that connection with Van Dam. While I thought the loss earlier was damaging for Kendrick, as I’ve already said, the interruption here was great, having Kendrick come off as a hypocrite to really have him heel it up. I’m still not sold on a champion vs. champion feud, as I’d like to see Chavo/Kendrick continuing, but this was certainly a nice promo.

While I get the storyline you’re running with is that AMW are sneaking away with the titles against Booker and Burke time and time again, it seems to be getting a bit repetitive. I think this is the third time in four blue brand shows that it’s happened, so I’d say something needs to happen to maybe freshen this feud up.

Nice promo here to capitalise on Bischoff becoming familiar with his surroundings, giving Noble something to do. While I feel like we’ve been through it all before and that Noble will likely either get his ass kicked or win through a distraction from ‘Taker, I’m happy he’s at least getting something to do here.

The Great American Bash vignette was nice, although I have to ask – clips of Edge costing Batista the WWE Title? Surely that’s an error, because I don’t think it’s happened yet. I do, however, think I suddenly know how tonight’s main event ends.

Nice promo from Lesnar, again, despite him not being the most interesting guy on the roster, by using the point that he hadn’t had a singles match for the title in a long time. Interesting confrontation between Edge and Lesnar to end the segment, although I’m not sure whether or not to read anything into it.

I really liked the way you went about this match, making it almost a sprint from the beginning due to it not getting the time of a three way on a bigger event, making for some good action, with all three men often involved. The time given to the match was good to see, and having London come so close to winning the title, only to be cost by Kendrick not only allows London to look good, but also furthers their blossoming feud. Lesnar as the winner is a fine choice, as Lesnar/Orton at The Bash should be a pretty great main event. Looking forward to seeing how you build to that one, as Orton certainly won’t be able to bully Lesnar.

‘Mags is still my new pick for KOTR. I really don’t see how he can be stopped.

With him not competing in the King of the Ring this week, it’s certainly not a bad idea to give MVP some mic time to both get him on the show and keep his feud with Carlito in mind. I didn’t mind the point to MVP’s speech at all, really playing up his gimmick that he’s all about the cash, creating his problem with Carlito a natural due to him costing him all of his bonuses. Running with the King of the Ring bonus really works too, because obviously Carlito has a shot at costing him that too. The other thing I liked about this is the way the dynamic has changed – suddenly Carlito is the aggressor (well, not suddenly, but you know what I mean), and now MVP is a total coward, despite being up for some violence when he was the real aggressor in the feud earlier. It’s a lovely bit of heel hypocrisy to get heat, as shown by MVP wanting Carlito to get locked up and thrown out of the King of the Ring tournament, despite an apology supposedly being enough for MVP earlier in the feud. The little touch of having MVP run as soon as Carlito’s music hit was nice, and I was a little surprised ‘Lito didn’t go for the beatdown before talking, because it seems like he’s easing up a bit here. The bit from ‘Lito was fine too, running down why he wants MVP, before making the expected big promise before next week’s match. A pretty nice promo here to keep this thing simmering along this week.

Loving the heel aspect Cole is bringing to the announce desk. It’s different to real life Cole, and I think in a good way, with the tension seeming very natural.

Simple win for Noble over Daivari, which I don’t mind. A good way to show off his intensity ahead of his No DQ match next week.

@ the campaign video from JBL against ‘Taker. I really do love the way you use the JBL character.

A decent promo from Batista here, playing his past relationship with Orton up well. Orton was fine too, although I thought it was a bit odd for them to have their confrontation so close to the actual match. Still, as I said, it was a pretty good promo.

Nice little touch to have Lesnar watching the match due to his main event slot at The Bash already been locked in.

I really liked that you had Batista look good in the early parts of this match, while Orton looking for a count out win was a nice way to show his desperation too. The build towards the end was good, with some nice back and forth counters, along with a ref bump that seemed to fit in well with the flow of the match. The ending was expected due to The Bash vignette, as I said above, but this was still a well written finish to the show, setting up another feud for The Bash.

Another pretty good show from you here, Wolfy. While the SmackDown! midcard perhaps isn’t as exciting as its RAW counterpart, the King of the Ring is helping you build some pretty stacked cards. The main event scene is looking good too, with Orton/Lesnar and Batista/Edge looking like a high quality pair of main event matches for The Bash. Not long to go now until Vengeance, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what you bring with RAW. Good stuff, my man.

Re: Being The Booker

So, this past Smackdown was my first sample of your work (I didn't feel like reading 295 pages lol), but it was really good! I may not have known the history of what was going on, but you were able to draw me in with no problem, anyway. Kendrick VS London has all the makings of a 5-star feud, The Carlito-MVP feud is red hot, even in just seeing that one sequence, and I'm pumped to see what happens with the New Wave (I thought that every member of that group had potential to be more then what WWE made of them). I do have a request though- Would there be any possible way of seeing either Maven or Lance Storm get added to the roster? (Mind you, I don't exactly know whose on Raw, so if either of those guy's are on Raw, my bad). Definitely subscribing to this BTB, and looking forward to seeing how things are over on Raw!

Peace, Love,

Re: Being The Booker

Just for anyone wondering, I'm still here, but I just havent had a chance to write anything over the last few weeks, let alone get on the forum. I'm not disappearing (yet) for another load of months though, before the rumours start. Hopefully I'll get Raw written up during the week, and I'll post a preview a day or two before the show.

In the meantime, there is this;

Updated brackets for the King of the Ring tournament.

Re: Being The Booker

Still alive...

Monday Night Raw Preview

The stage is set in Charlotte for an action packed edition of Monday Night Raw, just six days away from Raws heavily hyped Pay Per View event, Vengeance. And, with the 'Triple Main Event' on the horizon, Eric Bischoff has put together a mammoth main event this week, featuring all six men involved in the main event matches this Sunday; a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. Not only will the rivals face off this Monday, some will also have to contend with partners whom they have a rich history with too. Shawn Michaels & Kurt Angle - two bitter rivals in the past - team together, up against Mister Kennedy & Umaga, and the duo of John Cena and the World Heavyweight Champion, Christian, just two and a half months after they collided at WrestleMania.

It promises to be a hugely unpredictable affair in the main event, with six men involved, and so much rich history, and many mens lives being intertwined by each other. But while this weeks main event may attract interest, there are also THREE King of the Ring match ups, which will determine the four men from Raw that will proceed to Saturday Nights Main Event in less than two weeks time.

CM Punk and Greg Helms - who defend their tag team titles at Vengeance in a Fatal Four Way - will continue to aspire for greatness, as they take on William Regal and Matt Hardy respectively. And, in the third King of the Ring contest, The Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin meets Rey Mysterio. Benjamin and Mysterio have met a number of times already this year, having won and lost the prestigious Intercontinental Championship to one another, but this time, the meeting isnt about the gold, but a shot at becoming King.

And, with many of the King of the Ring competitors set to compete at Vengeance, in order to ensure that none of the King of the Ring matches end due to outside interference, Raw GM Eric Bischoff has imposed a ban on all Raw superstars getting involved in King of the Ring matches in which they are not partaking in. It is thought the ruling has been made specifically for the likes of Rhyno, who has been chomping at the bit to get his hands on Rey Mysterio at any opportunity, and The Brotherhood, who have Straight Edge and Matt Hardy in their sights ahead of Vengeance.

Last week, Mickie James broke her silence, with an interview conducted from her home, in which she hinted that she may NEVER return, after the shocking revelations made by Beth Phoenix and Melina last month. James is set to defend the Womens title on Sunday at Vengeance, against Melina, and if she does not appear, not only will she be stripped of the title, but Mickie James will no longer have a choice on whether or not she will come back ... she'll be fired. Is it possible that Mickie will finally realise that she belongs in the WWE, and make her return tonight on Raw?? Or will the Womens Champion continue to hide, and leave her decision until the very last minute??

I'll post Raw tomorrow ... hopefully. Still not finished, but I'm hoping to get it done tonight.

So glad you're still alive. I think you should fuck Superstars right off tbh and just do it in HEAT/Velocity quick results style to give you more time for RAW & SD! coz they're what matters. No one gives a fuck about Superstars

Anyways RAW is looking good, Rey/Shelton should own and the Triangle Tag main event is also promising to be something special. Mickie James surely will show at Vengeance but I dunno where this is really going, it's so different to what I've seen in other womens feuds in BTB. Also cant wait for that 4 Corners Tag match at Vengeance, so some nice previews tonight, hoping for X-Pac to Factor someone.

Will be reading.

Re: Being The Booker

Looks like a high quality show from a wrestling standpoint. All of the KOTR matches should have the potential to deliver, even if only in short matches, while, as I said with last week's show, your main event looks very impressive. I have no doubt Mickie will stay away too, leaving her to show up right before it appears she's gone at Vengeance. Hopefully we get some tag team goodness in there too, because the four way needs a bit of hype.

A good looking show, Wolf man. You know I'll be reading.

Re: Being The Booker

Monday Night Raw | June 11 2007 | Charlotte NC

Video package from last week, where Eric Bischoff announced this weeks main event; a triple threat tag team match, featuring the six men involved in the Triple Main Event this coming Sunday at Vengeance, interspersed with clips from last week of Christian attacking Kennedy, Cena choking out Angle, and Shawn Michaels delivering Sweet Chin Music to Umaga - sending the Bulldozer off the stage!!

Opening Video

Jim Ross: Only six days remain until Vengeance, but tonight, Vengeance comes early!! The Bobcat Arena in Charlotte has been filing in by the hundreds in anticipation for tonights main event!! The six men that compete in the hotly anticipated Triple Main Event this Sunday are ALL in action in a triple threat tag team match!! Mister Kennedy teams with Umaga, Shawn Michaels pairs up with Kurt Angle, and the men that stood across from one another at WrestleMania will align tonight; John Cena and the World Heavyweight Champion, Christian!!

The Coach: Biggest main event on Raw this year, without a doubt baby boy!! As if there wasn’t enough bad blood brewing, we could see all kinds of history rekindled tonight!! Eric Bischoff has surpassed himself tonight!!!

Jim Ross: Indeed, over the last week, Eric Bischoff has arguably become the most powerful man in the WWE, as he was selected to step in as General Manager of Smackdown in the interim for three months. Now, Bischoff is running Raw AND Smackdown.

The Coach: He may be steering that titanic disaster on Friday Nights for a while, but Bischoff knows where his priorities lie. Monday Night Raw is where it’s at.

Jim Ross: He may have twice the workload, but The General Manager of Raw has not rested on his laurels, that is for damn sure. Tonight, the King of the Ring Quarter Finals will take shape. Three second round matches, that will determine who joins Umaga in the Elite Eight. Matt Hardy meets Gregory Helms in a home field battle for both Carolinians, CM Punk takes on the veteran William Regal, and the master of the 619 Rey Mysterio faces the man that took the Intercontinental Championship from him two months ago, Shelton Benjamin.

The Coach: My pick!! Shelton Benjamin baby!!! Goin all the way to the throne!!

A huge roar engulfs the arena, as SHAWN MICHAELS enters the stage, as popular as he’s ever been.

Jim Ross: AND THERE HE IS!!! The Heart Break Kid is six days shy of a career threatening Last Man Standing match with the savage Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga at Vengeance. Is Shawn Michaels the man to finally beat Umaga?? If ANYONE is capable, it’s THAT MAN, and he proved it last week on Raw!!

The Coach: I learned my lesson last week, J.R. You simply NEVER rule out The Showstopper.

Jim Ross: There is a reason they call him the best big match performer. Shawn Michaels always raises his game when the chips are down. He goes into that Last Man Standing match still at a major disadvantage, but now, it’s clear; Shawn Michaels CAN beat The Samoan Bulldozer.

The Coach: But WILL he??

Shawn Michaels stands in the ring, nodding, approving the adulation of the fans, before cutting in.

Shawn Michaels: Ya just cant beat this, can ya!!??

Shawn smiles for a moment, as the fans pop.

Shawn Michaels: Boys and girls, I’d love ta stand out here, and have a good time with ya … but good ‘ol Aitch Bee Kay has hadda pretty rough time of it lately, and as ya mighta saw last week … I’ve reached breaking point!!

Cheers from the fans, remembering his actions last week, whilst HBK nods, looking serious.

Shawn Michaels: For the last two months, I’ve hadda deal with a big lump o’ junk walking down that aisle, stepping into this ring, and handin out free beatdowns. Now, I don’t know what you people thought about it … but I gotta say, for me?? That stuff gotta little boring after about two weeks. But week after week, the attacks kept comin. And comin.

Michaels pauses for a second.

Shawn Michaels: AND COMIN … AND COMIN!!

Some boos from the fans for Umagas attacks.

Shawn Michaels: That’s all well an’ good. I get it. I’ve been in this business for … well, let’s just say I’ve been around the block. I know what Estrada is tryin ta do for Umaga. He’s tryin to make a name for his meal ticket. He keeps callin him ‘The Samoan Bulldozer’, and for all intents and purposes, he’s backin it up, week in and week out. Mister Estrada, good job. But ya made one fatal mistake my friend.

Michaels turns, and looks into the camera.

Shawn Michaels: Ya picked the wrong victim!!

Pop for HBK.

Shawn Michaels: If you honestly thought ya could just waltz onto Raw, with that big sack of crap, and run roughshod over Aitch Bee Kay without any repercussions … ya better take a seat, light up one of those Cuban cigars, and think again!!

Michaels attempts to continue, but is cut off by the cheers from the fans.

Shawn Michaels: ‘Cause lemme tell ya somethin, The Heart Break Kid doesn’t lie down for anybody. I don’t care if you’re seven feet tall. I don’t care if you’re the size of a house, or the weight of a dump truck. I wont run, I wont hide. Ya pick a fight with me, boy, ya better be ready for the fight of your life!!

Shawn Michaels: Last week, I gave ya a taster of what to expect at Vengeance. But believe me, that’s all that was … a taster. Come Sunday, you’ll get that, and much, much … MUCH MORE!!

Attention switches to the entrance way, with the expected sighting of Umaga … but instead, Armando Estrada enters … alone?? The handler of Umaga walks down the aisle, talking over the music.

Armando Estrada: TUDOS … EXXXCUSEEME!!! Haitch Bee Kay, forgive the interruption, but I come … ha ha, in peace.

Estrada continues down the aisle, much to the chagrin of HBK, and bravely(?) looks to enter the ring, talking as he proceeds.

Armando Estrada: Shawn Michaels, I greatly admire ju’re … commes se dice … spunk!!

Estrada, smirking, enters the ring, and stands across from HBK.

Armando Estrada: Jure actions last week?? Very impressive.

Estradas smile slips.

Armando Estrada: But very … VERY STUPID!!

Armando Estrada: Because now?? Now, ju’ve woken the beast. Now, at Vengeance, Umaga wont just destroy ju … Umaga is gonna … decapitate ju.

Armando Estrada: Shawn, I’ve left The Samoan Bulldozer in the locker room for jure safety. But I cant keep him there all night. Ju still have to contend with him later tonight … and if ju can survive that … then I can personally promise … ju wont survive Vengeance.

Shawn Michaels: Armando, this aint ma first rodeo. You’re not the first guy to tell me I cant possibly survive. But surviving?? Surviving aint ma objective. I’ve gone head to head with the biggest, baddest, toughest, strongest guys this industry has ever seen, an‘ they said I wouldn’t survive … yet here I am. Vader, Kevin Nash, Big Sid, The Undertaker, Kane … I’ve seen ‘em all, I’ve fought ‘em all … and ya better believe I beat ‘em all too!!

Massive pop, as the impassioned HBK steps forward, fixing the jacket of Estrada, making the mouthpiece very unsettled.

Shawn Michaels: SOOO … if you think I’m headed to Vengeance with the objective of survivin?? … Think again amigo. I’m headed to Vengeance with the sole objective of being the LAST … MAN … STANDING!!!

HBK then shoves the mic into the chest of Estrada, and exit’s the ring, to a big reaction from the fans, chanting ‘H-B-K’ … but Estrada isn’t happy to leave it at that.

Armando Estrada: Ah … jus’ a second, Shawn.

At the bottom of the aisle, HBK slowly turns. Estrada leans over the ropes to speak to HBK.

Armando Estrada: Shawn, like I said earlier … I admire jure spunk. Ju have a lot of heart, and ju have beaten some of the biggest guys to ever step foot in a ring. But ju have never faced anything like THE SAAAAAAA-MO-AN BULLDOZERRRRRRR … OOOOOOMAGA!!!

Armando Estrada: And after Vengeance this Sunday … ju wont face anyone like him again.

Estrada leans over the ropes again, with that irritating smirk on his face as usual.

Armando Estrada: Because ju wont be the “Last Man Standing” Shawn. In fact … ju’ll be lucky … if you EVER … stand … again.

Michaels, with a face of stone, doesn’t bat an eyelid at the massive claim from Estrada, whilst Armando nods, mouthing ‘It’s gonna happen’, as we fade out to the first commercial break of the evening…

We return into the arena…

**BOOYAKA 619**

To a huge reaction as always, Rey Mysterio makes his grand entrance, bursting from under the stage.

Jim Ross:
Well, this Sunday Rey Mysterio will have his hands full with Rhyno, in a deeply personal affair, but right here, right now, Mysterio will have to focus on the King of the Ring tournament.

The Coach: Don’t worry J.R, Mysterio wont have to worry about this for long. King Shelton Benjamin is just about to put him out of his misery.

Jim Ross: Well, this is the first of THREE King of the Ring tournament matches this evening, and perhaps there is none more mouth watering than this. These two have met a number of times over the last six months for the Intercontinental Title, but tonight, it’s about something more. There are very few more prestigious honours than the King of the Ring, and both Mysterio and Benjamin know it.

Jim Ross: What ovation??

Shelton Benjamin enters the arena, as ever, joined by Theodore Long.

The Coach: This guy has it all!! The look, the athleticism, the charisma, and he’s got the greatest advisor by his side. Shelton Benjamin is goin ALL the way baby boy!!!

Jim Ross: Shelton Benjamin defends the Intercontinental Championship on Sunday in Oklahoma against Matt Hardy, but The Black Diamond has his sights set on advancing to the Quarter Finals of the King of the Ring tonight.

The Coach: And he will, J.R. It’s written in the stars for this kid to go all the way. Shelton Benjamin and The Brotherhood are headed for the top. We’re finally about to break through the glass ceiling!!

Jim Ross: We??

The Coach: The Brotherhood are my boys, old timer. They love The Coach, and The Coach loves them!!

Rey Mysterio vs. Shelton Benjamin w/Theodore Long
The two know each other well, and it shows, with the pair effortlessly going through the ‘feeling out’ stage, with impressive counters and reversals, before a stand off, with the fans applauding the actions of both men. They then proceed, and it’s another series of counters and reversals, which eventually descends into roll ups and cradles, which are reversed and countered, resulting in a number of near falls, before they break up, and have another stand off with another stalemate … as we head into a commercial break.

Commercial Break

And Raw returns with Shelton Benjamin now in the ascendancy, with clips from during the commercial where Mysterio had gained the upper hand, but a trip from Theodore Long on the outside changed the course of the match, allowing Benjamin to take over, and put the hurting on Mysterio. Rey battles back after a period of dominance for the I.C Champ, taking out the legs of Shelton, but as he attempts a hurricanrana, Benjamin counters, and RAMS Mysterio into the corner!! Benjamin follows up, and goes for a suplex, switching to a neck breaker for a signature spot from Shelton, but even that is only good for a two count.

Benjamin drags Rey up, sending him into the corner, and follows up, looking for the Stinger Splash … BUT MYSTERIO AVOIDS IT!!! Rey runs out of the corner, and plants Benjamin with a dropkick to the back … SENDING SHELTON INTO THE ROPES!!! Mysterio calls for the 619, and goes for it … BUT BENJAMIN AVOIDS IT!!! Rey swings around the ropes, and back into the ring, with Benjamin looking for the FROST KICK … BUT REY DUCKS UNDER!!! Mysterio runs off the ropes, but Benjamin leaps over him on the return, then catches Rey from behind, and looks for a side suplex … BUT MYSTERIO COUNTERS WITH A BULLDOG!!!

Rey gets back to his feet, and now climbs the turnbuckles … BUT THEODORE HOPS ONTO THE APRON!!! Mysterio is momentarily distracted, and the referee intervenes, admonishing Long off the apron, with Theodore complying … but the distraction gives Benjamin time to get to his feet, and the IC Champion LEAPS to the top rope … AND ARM DRAGS MYSTERIO OFF THE TOP!!! The fans are split between heat for the distraction, yet cheers for the athleticism on show. Benjamin struggles into a cover, 1...2...NO!!! Mysterio kicks out!! Benjamin slams the mat in frustration, and gets back to his feet, prowling, as he looks for Rey to reach his feet … AND GOES FOR PAYDIRT … BUT MYSTERIO GRABS A ROPE … AND BENJAMIN HIT’S THE CANVAS!!

Mysterio waits for Shelton to reach his feet, and as he does, Rey drop toe holds the Black Diamond into the ropes … INTO POSITION FOR THE 619!! Rey looks set to go for it … BUT LONG JUMPS INTO THE RING AGAIN!!! Mysterio runs at Theodore, sliding between his legs … AND DROPKICKS HIM FROM BEHIND … SENDING LONG INTO THE ROPES TOO!!! AND REY GOES FOR THE 619 AGAIN … AND CONNECTS!!!!! Long rolls out of the ring, whilst Benjamin stumbles up, with Rey leaping to the top rope, looking for the seated senton … BUT GETS CAUGHT WITH PAYDIRT - JUST LIKE HE DID AT BACKLASH!!! Benjamin tumbles into a cover, hooking both legs, 1...2...3!!!
Winner: Shelton Benjamin @ 09:12

Benjamin advances!!! The Black Diamond shocks Mysterio, just like he did at Backlash two months ago, and progresses to the final stages of the King of the Ring tournament in twelve days time!! Shelton rolls right out of the ring, and grabs his title - which he defends on Sunday - and helps up Theodore Long, holding his mentor up, as they get out of dodge, whilst Mysterio slowly comes around in the ring.

Jim Ross: You gotta wonder Coach, if it hadn’t been for the presence of Theodore Long, this could’ve been a much much different contest.

The Coach: WHAT!!?? Shelton Benjamin just outperformed you’re little buddy jumpin bean, and you cant accept it!! Well, it happened - again!! The Black Diamond beat your boy at Backlash, he beat him on Superstars, and he beat him again tonight!! This kid is on the brink of immortality!!!

Jim Ross: You certainly have the blinkers on, Coach. Theodore Long on two occasions tonight prevented Rey Mysterio from advancing to the elite eight of the King of the Ring tournament!!

The Coach: Stop cryin over spilt milk, J.R. Shelton Benjamin is headed to Saturday Nights Main Event, and he’s collectin a crown. As for Mysterio, he can- oh, HEY, LOOK AT THIS!!!

In the ring, we see Mysterio trying to pull himself to his feet … AS RHYNO IS PERCHED DOWN IN THE CORNER … WAITING … Mysterio doesn’t realise what’s about to happen, still recovering from Pay Dirt … and turns around … INTO A GORE!!!!!

Jim Ross: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!! That’s uncalled for!! Get this ANIMAL outta the damn ring!!!

The Coach: He’s hell bent on hurting Mysterio, J.R!! I think the King of the Ring is a distant memory for Rey now!!! HA HA HA!!!

The Man Beast stands over Rey, looking as intense as ever, bad mouthing his rival, before holding his arms up aloft in the air, to heat from the fans.

Jim Ross: This was uncalled for Coach!! Rhyno got what he wanted. He got his match with Mysterio at Vengeance. But THIS?? This is sickening!!!

The Coach: This is brilliant J.R!! I love the intensity of The Man Beast. Don’t try and cage this Rhyno!! Mysterio is in big trouble on Sunday if you ask me, old timer.

Jim Ross: That he may be, if he has to contend with this beast. Rhyno is out to maim if you ask me, Coach. This man needs locked up in a padded cell. He has no place in a wrestling ring!!

Rhyno exit’s the ring, and charges up the aisle, still showing the brimming intensity, as the official again tends to Rey.

Jim Ross: It’s not been a good night for Rey Mysterio, but he’ll have an opportunity at redemption on Sunday at Vengeance. But still to come tonight, in addition to that mammoth triple threat tag team match, we still have TWO King of the Ring second round matches to come. Don’t go anywhere!!

Commercial Break

We return, backstage, with Kelly Kelly standing by with the World Tag Team Champions…

Kelly Kelly: I’m here with Straight Edge, who tonight, compete in singles action in the King of the Ring tournament, but this Sunday, you defend the World Tag Team Titles in a Fatal Four Way match, against The British Lions, The Brotherhood and the team that beat you last week to earn their spot in the match; Tyson Tomko and X-Pac. And, with that loss last week, many people have pointed to the King of the Ring tournament as a possible distraction to your tag team title reign. Both of you continue in the King of the Ring tonight, but where does your main focus lie??

CM Punk: Kelly, let’s set the record straight. Greg Helms and myself are the World Tag Team Champions. THAT is our bread and butter. We bust our asses for too long to get our hands on these, to just surrender them because we got sidetracked by singles competition. The truth is, we lost last week because we got caught out by a better team on the night.

Punk looks to Helms, with his partner getting in on the promo.

Greg Helms: Punks right, Kelly. Being tag team champions is our main objective. Keeping the titles on Sunday is our goal. Like the good man said, we spent far too long busting our asses, night in, night out, to get to where we are. Right now, I don’t care what anyone says, in my opinion, we’re the very best team in ALL of the WWE, and Kelly, despite the craziness of a Fatal Four Way on Sunday, we WILL get back on track, and we WILL be walking out of Vengeance the way we walked into it - World Tag Team Champs.

Punk now takes over, with a cheeky smirk on his face.

CM Punk: But that’s Sunday. Tonight, Greg and myself have the chance to reach the Quarter Final stage of the King of the Ring tournament. And it’s too big of an opportunity for either of us to turn down. We’re both in agreement, we both believe in our abilities to go all the way in the King of the Ring tournament, AND stay focused on the tag team division.

Helms nods, and the two touch knuckles, before Helms turns to the camera.

Greg Helms: And Kelly, it’s an opportunity that both of us intend to grab with both hands. So, for those teams out there that have been saying we’ve taken our eyes off the prize in the tag team division?? Quit your dreamin!! Straight Edge are here to stay, and you’ll all realise that on Sunday!!

Punk chips in now, looking to the camera also.

CM Punk: And for those of you looking past Greg and I in the King of the Ring tournament?? Keep looking past us, because it’ll be all the more sweeter when one of us is crowned King.

The duo now walk off the set, as we cut back to ringside…

But just as J.R and Coach appear on camera, the shot switches …

Somewhere - and the grainy, CCTV like footage of ‘The Reality Check’ accompanies it. We see JOHNNY NITRO AND JOEY MERCURY inside the office of ERIC BISCHOFF, with the GM stepping inside the office, looking taken aback by the presence of the former tag team champions.

Eric Bischoff: (Flabbergasted) What the hell are you two doing in my office??

Johnny Nitro: We weren’t doing anything Eric, honestly. We’ve been waiting here to speak to you.

Eric Bischoff: In future, wait outside. And, call me Mister Bischoff, if you don’t mind.

Johnny Nitro: Sorry Eri- I mean, Mister Bischoff. It’s just-

Nitro stumbles over his words, and looks to Mercury, with his partner taking over the talking.

Joey Mercury: Look, Mister Bischoff, you’ve been very generous with us since we debuted on Raw a year ago. You gave us a shot after less than a month here, and we didn’t disappoint you. And since we lost the titles, you’ve been very generous still in giving us another opportunity for the belts.

Eric Bischoff: Hold on. Stop wasting your breath. I know exactly where this is going gentlemen. You want in on the tag team title match at Vengeance, right??

MNM nod.

Eric Bischoff: Yeah, well I’d like to spend all day fishing, with a girl on each arm, but reality sucks. You two lost the titles at WrestleMania. You got your rematch at Backlash, and lost. You had a second rematch a few weeks ago on Raw. I cant remember the last time you pair won a match. So … why should I give you another shot??

Johnny Nitro: Look at our track record Eric, we-

Eric Bischoff: I just went through it, Johnny. Your recent track record … sucks.

Joey Mercury: Yeah, but match us up against any of those three teams that are challenging for the titles at Vengeance. We’re better than The Brotherhood, we’ve got way more experience as a team than Tomko and X-Pac-

Johnny Nitro: Those two have only been tagging for five minutes!!

Joey Mercury: And we’re better than the Lions.

Johnny Nitro: And we proved that the last time we faced them.

Joey Mercury: We just think it would be fair for teams to rightfully earn a shot at the tag team titles.

Johnny Nitro: Exactly. Credit where it’s due, Tomko and X-Pac beat the champs, and The Brotherhood have a few wins under their belt. But the Lions?? They haven’t beat anyone, Eric.

Bischoff ponders for a moment. Nitro gets set to chime in again, but Bischoff puts his hand up to stop him from speaking.

Eric Bischoff: Listen, frankly, I’m a little bit sick of listening to the two of you. How about this, go out there tonight to the ring. You’re facing The British Lions, and we’re going to see which team really deserves that slot at Vengeance. How does that sound?? I mean, you did say it would only be fair to earn a shot at the titles.

Before either man can answer, Eric butts in again.

Eric Bischoff: It’s not like you even have an option anyway. You want in on the tag team title match?? Go prove to me how much you want it. And get the hell outta my office.

The duo nod, with Mercury offering the GM a handshake, but Eric merely just looks at the hand, and then looks away, with MNM shuffling out of the room.

Commercial Break

We return with William Regal already on his way to the ring, ahead of his King of the Ring second round match.

Jim Ross: We are back live, and William Regal is set to go one on one with CM Punk for a spot at Saturday Nights Main Event King of the Ring culmination. A unenviable date with the - as yet - undefeated Samoan Bulldozer Umaga awaits for the winner of this one.

The Coach: Wouldn’t like to be the winner of this one, J.R. Might be a better result to lose if you ask me.

To a decent response, CM Punk enters the arena, looking to create an impression as a singles star, whilst remaining one half of the tag team champions.

Jim Ross: Don’t be saying that to this man, Coach. CM Punk is a kid that strongly believes in his abilities, and trust me, this young man from Chicago will believe he can defeat Umaga if he advances past the wily veteran, Blackpool Englands William Regal.

The Coach: There wouldn’t be a more fitting King that the Englishman … but it’s not a fairytale, and someone should point that out to Punk too, if he honestly believes he can go all the way.

CM Punk vs. William Regal
Rough, rugged contest, with the two men trading vicious blows in the early going, holding nothing back. Regal wins the early exchange, imposing his will on Punk, and eventually scores a near fall off a Butterfly Suplex. Regal then keeps Punk on the ground with a side headlock, but Punk pushes to his feet, and the two struggle for supremacy on their feet, with Punk eventually scoring with a snap more and following up with a stiff kick to the chest of the Brit.

Regal struggles to his feet, using the corner to help himself up … which is an open invite for Punk to race in, and scores with a high knee in the corner!! Punk then looks to follow up with a Bulldog … but Regal surprises him, and CROTCHES Punk on the ropes!! Regal follows up, showing no mercy, and runs off the opposite ropes, crashing into Punk with a running forearm, sending Punk off, and onto the floor. On the outside, Regal continues to rough up his opponent, before bringing Punk back inside, hitting a side suplex for another near fall.

The veteran now lifts Punk back to his feet, driving into his sternum with vicious knees, over and over, then sends him into the corner, charging in, but Punk catches him with an elbow!!! Regal backs up, and Punk hops to the middle rope, before flying off with a clothesline, knocking Regal down. Punk now begins his fight back, rallying against Regal, and it looks like the man from Chicago will pull off the victory, as he sets up for the Punk Card … BUT REGAL ELBOWS FREE!!! Regal lands on his feet, as Punk looks for a knockout kick … and misses!!! Punk charges toward Regal, but the Brit catches him with a flapjack, landing Punk off the ropes, with Punk staggering away, doubling over … ALLOWING REGAL TO NAIL THE KNEE TREMBLER!!! Regal hooks the leg, 1...2...3!!!
Winner: William Regal @ 06:01

The veteran continues on his unlikely quest to become King of the Ring!!! Regal overcomes the spirited CM Punk with a hard fought win, and now has the unenviable task of facing Umaga at Saturday Nights Main Event.

Jim Ross: An emotional win for the veteran Englishman!! William Regal progresses to the Elite Eight of the King of the Ring, and Coach, it goes to show that this tournament isn’t just about the stars of the future. It’s a chance for a veteran like William Regal to make a last big run at the top. William Regal has never got the type of success a man of his talent has deserved, but a win in the King of the Ring could change everything!!

The Coach: Yeah, yeah, very nice story. Forgetting one thing old timer; he faces Umaga next.

Jim Ross: Indeed…

The Coach: Nice story while it lasted old timer, huh??

In the ring, Regal shows respect for Punk, helping the tag champion to his feet, and shaking his hand, with Punk gracious in defeat.

The Coach: Oh please. Pass me a bucket, J.R.

Jim Ross: What the hell is wrong with a show of respect, Coach??

The Coach: Nothing to do with that, J.R … I just tasted your god awful barbecue sauce. It’s like tarmac. But now that you mention it, these two in the ring are making me nauseous too.

Jim Ross: I bet you’ve been saving that line for a while, huh Coach??

The Coach: It’s been brewing, but it’s still true.

Jim Ross: Well folks, while Coach perfects his stand up routine, let’s not forget that we’ve still got a wrestling show tonight. And our main event continues to give me goosebumps. Six days away from Vengeance, all six men involved in the triple main event will be in action, in a triple threat tag team match!! Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Umaga, Mister Kennedy, John Cena and the World Heavyweight Champion, Christian, all in the same ring- TONIGHT!!

Commercial Break

Commercial Break

Match 3:
The British Lions w/Katie Lea vs. MNM
MNM show the initiative, knowing they HAVE to impress, and they HAVE to win, if they want to be any part of the tag team title match at Vengeance. From the outset, the former champions look to single out Smith, knowing he is the weaker link of the two, which frustrates Burchill, with the King of Pain unable to get a piece of the action. Harry Smith though pulls through, and shows his promise, digging deep, and fighting back, thanks to the encouragement on the outside from Katie Lea, and his partner, Burchill. Smith completes his comeback, catching Mercury with a power slam, and then reaches out, making a tag to his partner!!!

Burchill enters, full steam ahead, charging through Nitro and Mercury, with a barrage of clotheslines, followed by a sidewalk slam on Mercury, before launching Nitro out of the ring!! Burchill scores a two on Mercury, but now appears to be setting up for the finish, going for the Curb Stomp … but it’s prevented by a desperate Nitro, who drags his partner out of the ring. MNM though, don’t get long to recover, as Smith and Burchill exit the ring, and come after them, catching their prey, and throwing them back inside.

MNM struggle to their feet in the ring, with Burchill sending Mercury to the corner, and looks to charge in, but gets DRILLED with a Chuck Kick from Nitro!!! Smith now attempts to intervene, but Mercury knocks him off the apron with a clothesline, as Nitro wails on Burchill. Mercury then helps to hold the big guy up for Nitro to pound at freely, and after a few right hands, Nitro looks for a run up to strike Burchill, BUT BURCHILL MOVES … NITRO NAILS MERCURY!!! Nitros mouth opens wide in shock, then cringes, realising his mistake, turning around … AND EATS a big boot from Burchill!!! Harry Smith drags Nitro out of the ring now, as Burchill sets Mercury … AND DELIVERS THE CURB STOMP!!! The cover is made, 1...2...3!!!
Winners: The British Lions @ 05:33

Once again, MNM find themselves on the losing side when it mattered most!! The trend continues for the former champions, and now find themselves well and truly out of the running, whilst The British Lions build momentum ahead of Sundays Tag Team Title match!!

The Coach: Not again!!

Jim Ross: After having their stunning nine month run as World Tag Team Champions brought to a halt at WrestleMania, MNM appear to be devoid of confidence!! The losses have piled up, they-

The Coach: And you love it, J.R!! Week after week you have sat here in glee, watching Nitro and Mercury suffer and struggle. But they’ll bounce back!! They may be out of the running on Sunday, but MNM WILL BE BACK ON TOP!!!

Jim Ross: In all honesty Coach, I just cant see how they turn this around. They are out of title shots, they’re at the very back of the line, and they almost seem at odds. Look at this!!

In the ring, Nitro has helped Mercury to his feet, but Mercury shoves his partner away, furious with how the match unfolded, pointing to the outside, slapping his own face, trying to explain something.

Jim Ross: If you ask me Coach, MNM just arent on the same page anymore. They’re not even reading the same book right now!!

The Coach: All great teams have their trials and tribulations, J.R. MNM have hit a rough patch, that’s all. They’ll be back!!!

Jim Ross: MNM may be at odds, but one team that certainly is not is the impressive British tandem of Burchill and Harry Smith!! They have looked together over the past two months, and a huge opportunity awaits them on Sunday in Oklahoma!!

Backstage now, we see Melina (obviously not concerned with MNM at the minute) and Beth Phoenix making their way towards the gorilla position.

Jim Ross: And when we come back, that Devil Woman herself, Melina, is in action, just six days before her scheduled Womens Title match against Mickie James. We still don’t know if that match will even happen at Vengeance!! Melina, in action, next!!

Commercial Break

Match 4:
Melina w/Beth Phoenix vs. Maria
Is there any need for details?? Maria, again, is a helpless lamb to the slaughter, as Melina makes light work of her, showcasing her move set, with a devilish smile on her face throughout, finishing the job with the Primal Scream, getting an elementary 1...2...3!!!
Winner: Melina @ 01:14

A quick nights work for Melina, looking impressive ahead of her title shot at Vengeance … but it seems like Melina has something to say, requesting a mic from Lillian Garcia…

Melina: Mickie!!?? Did you see that?? That’s what is waiting for you if you decide to show your face at Vengeance!! I don’t blame you for hiding Mickie, I really don’t. And you can use your past as an excuse for hiding, but deep down … you’re only hiding because you’re scared of me!!

Melina laughs over the mic, then takes a look at the hulking Beth Phoenix.

Melina: Yeah, you’re scared of losing to me, and you’re scared of having to meet Beth Phoenix face to face. You could show some guts and show up on Sunday, but let me tell you what you should do … keep hiding.

Melina smirks, as Beth scowls, with Melina noticing, and quickly backing up.

Melina: Hear me out Beth. Mickie?? It’s inevitable. Beth Phoenix will eventually track you down, wherever you are. I’m going to do everything I can to help her find you in the end. But you should let us find you. Give yourself as long as you possibly can to avoid it. Stay away from Raw. Stay away from the WWE, and especially, ESPECIALLY stay away from Vengeance.

Heat from the fans. Melina smirks evilly again, and turns to leave the ring with Beth, but looks up … and the ENTIRE divas locker room is standing at the top of the aisle, with the veteran Victoria leading the pack, holding a mic.

Melina: What’s this?? My championship celebration wont be until next Monday girls, but thank-

Victoria: This isn’t a celebration Melina. It’s a message … for Mickie James.

Melina looks confused.

Victoria: We have sat back and listened for long enough. We’ve had to watch the torment you’ve put Mickie through. Us divas mightn’t all get along all the time … some of us might even hate each other … but we’re all in agreement on this. What Mickie has done in the past was wrong, but she has turned her life around- at least, she had until you brought it all out in the open.

Melina shrugs, knowing this already.

Victoria: Mickie James is a role model, not just for young women, but for anyone. She’s living proof that people CAN change for the better. People CAN turn their lives around and achieve their dreams. She shouldn’t be persecuted for her mistakes in the past. If anyone should be banished and hounded out of the WWE … it’s YOU Melina!!

Pop for the (usually) heel Victoria.

Victoria: This right here, is a show of unity. Mickie, I know wherever you are, you’ll be watching this. Please listen. The divas locker room is united in saying this; come back, we forgive you. Come back this Sunday at Vengeance and do us all a favour … SHUT Melinas mouth, once and for all!!!

Big pop, as Melina looks ready to lose her temper, not wanting a match at Vengeance, but happy to be awarded the title instead.

Victoria: Mickie, THIS is where you belong. All the divas want you to come back, all the fans miss you too … you owe it to us, to them, and most importantly, you owe it to yourself Mickie. You worked too hard to throw it all away.

The camera closes up on Victoria now, as she ends the promo.

Victoria: Please … Come … Back.

A slight ‘Please Come Back’ chant develops around a small section of fans, but the chant doesn’t really pick up a lot of steam, although it can be heard clearly, with Melina visibly furious, shouting to the fans (without a mic) to “SHUT UP!!”, before letting out her ear-aching scream in frustration.

Jim Ross: I hope, I pray that Mickie James IS watching. I hope she is packing her boots and is hopping onto the next flight to Oklahoma. Mickie James IS wanted, forgiveness IS here. Melina is in the minority. Mickie James, please come back.

The Coach: I’m astounded J.R. The jealousy in the divas locker room holds no bounds!!

Jim Ross: Jealousy??

The Coach: They’re jealous of Melina!! They’re jealous of her beauty, they’re jealous of her in ring ability, they’re jealous of her superior intelligence, to the point where they’re welcoming back a criminal!!! That old hag Victoria shoulda kept her nose outta peoples business J.R!!!

Jim Ross: No!! Victoria was right. Mickie James needs to know that not everyone shares the same view as Melina!! Jealousy isn’t what brought the divas locker room out, it was unity!!!

The Coach: Well it doesn’t matter anyway. Thankfully, we all know Mickie James is a coward. She wants nothing to do with Beth Phoenix or Melina. She’s history once she no shows at Vengeance. Bye bye title, bye bye contract. See ya later toots.

Jim Ross: It remains to be seen, Coach. As far as I’m concerned, if there is any justice on this earth, Mickie James will return at Vengeance and get some sweet revenge, long overdue revenge on Melina. But that’s Sunday. Coming up next, we will see a potentially highly combustible situation. Matt Striker will be standing by with BOTH Kurt Angle and John Cena.

The Coach: Whose bright idea was that??

Jim Ross: Eric Bischoffs I assume, Coach. It happens when we return on Raw!! Don’t go away!!

Commercial Break

And we return, backstage, with Matt Striker standing between the pent up Kurt Angle and John Cena, with both men glaring across at the other.

Matt Striker: Welcome back to Monday Night Raw, and right now, I am joined by the two men that go one on one in a thirty minute Ultimate Submission Match this Sunday at Vengeance. John Cena, Kurt Angle, thank you for your time. Now, John, you’ve never competed in a match of this type before. As a matter of fact, you’ve never even competed in a submission match of any kind. How much of a disadvantage do you think you’ll be at on Sunday, with no prior experience of submission matches??

Cena takes a moment to think of his response, nodding momentarily.

John Cena: Y’know, for the last three weeks, all I’ve been hearing is that I’m crazy … I’m nuts. Over and over and over. I cant hang with Kurt Angle, I cant keep up with him for thirty minutes, I cant possibly make Angle submit more than he can me … BLAGHHH!!! I’m pretty fed up of hearin it Matt. I’m fed up of always being written off because I’m not as technically gifted as the next guy. WHEN are the haters gonna learn, Matt?? You DON’T write John Cena off.

Cena pauses for a second, allowing himself to calm down.

John Cena: Look, heres the deal. I get that there’s a lot of people out there that for whatever reason they have, don’t like me. Some people don’t like me because of the way I talk. Some people don’t like the way I dress. Some people don’t like the fact that I’ve come a long way with limited ability. No, I don’t know every submission in the text book. I don’t know every variation of the suplex. But in that ring, every night, from Charlotte to Chicago, I will fight, tooth and nail LIKE MY LIFE … DEPENDED ON IT!!!

Mixed response from the fans.

John Cena: I don’t have the skillset of Kurt Angle. I’m not as cerebral as Triple H, or as flashy as Shawn Michaels. But I’m still a three times World Heavyweight Champion. I have headlined WrestleMania, I’ve outlasted twenty nine other guys to win the Royal Rumble, two times. Four months ago, I went sixty minutes with The Game … and I was the one to have my hand raised when it was all said and done. So no, I don’t have any experience in Submission Matches Matt … but that doesn’t really matter, does it?? On Sunday Night, I’m goin to war with that man right there, fighting like my life depended on it … and Imma stick it to the haters one more time, when I have my hand raised after thirty long minutes.

Striker nods to the response, before turning his attention to Angle.

Matt Striker: Kurt, you’ve heard what John Cena had to say in regards to how his lack of experience in these matches will affect him. But Kurt, you have history in submission matches, and in fact, you competed in the only other Ultimate Submission Match in WWE history. How do you feel your experience in this match will help you on Sunday at Vengeance??

Angle continues to glare at Cena, before addressing the question.

Kurt Angle: Like Cena said Matt, it doesn’t really matter, does it?? It doesn’t matter if I’ve competed in one, or a hundred ultimate submission matches. And why doesn’t it matter Matt?? I’ll tell ya why … because John Cena is my opponent.

Heat from the fans for the insult.

Kurt Angle: John, I don’t care how many times you’ve upset the odds. It makes no difference to me that you won a sixty minute Iron Man Match when no one gave you a chance. Or how many times you’ve been World Champion. At Vengeance, you enter my world. And it’s a world of pain and suffering that you cant begin to imagine. And these odds?? They’re insurmountable.

Cena shakes his head, disagreeing with the sentiment.

Matt Striker: Now, John, a few weeks ago on Raw, you claimed that you simply WOULDN’T tap to Kurt Angle. Kurt however has guaranteed that you wont survive thirty minutes with him without submitting at some point. How can you possibly promise not to quit if Kurt Angle were to apply the Anklelock in the first five or ten minutes of the match, with so much time left to run??

John Cena: Last week, Kurt Angle referred to me as ‘boneheaded’. Look, I’m not the smartest … yeah, I’m a little dumb at times … but if I’m caught in the Anklelock in the first minute of the match, dead centre of the ring with nowhere to go and twenty nine minutes left on the clock?? As much as it goes against every fibre in my body …

Cena shakes his head for a moment, not wanting to say it.

John Cena: … I’ll tap.

A huge smiles develops on the face of Kurt Angle, and the Olympian begins a slow clap.

Kurt Angle: Finally … he admits it. Bravo John. I see what you’re trying to do … cover yourself. You don’t want to lose any face with all your fans, so you’ve given yourself a built in excuse for losing on Sunday-

Cena now steps forward, with Striker stepping back.

John Cena: Naw, naw, naw. I don’t make excuses Kurt … wont need ‘em. I tap once at Vengeance?? You better believe you gonna be tappin twice. I tap four times?? You tap five. No matter how many times I give you a fall, I’ll be takin one back in the blink of an eye.

Angle now steps forward, now face to face with Cena.

Kurt Angle: And how do you intend on doing that with one good ankle?? Every time I clamp on the ankle lock, it’ll do more damage. Think about the bone breaking, ligaments snapping, muscles tearing, time and time again, for thirty minutes, doing more damage each time. Do you honestly think you can withstand the ankle lock John?? Over and over, and just dust yourself down and shake it off each time??

Cenas jaw tightens, as the two men stare down, head to head.

Kurt Angle: I know you fear nothing and regret less Cena. But you should fear the ankle lock. Everyone else does, and for good reason. It’s retired Kane. And despite what JBL is saying over on Smackdown, The Undertaker isn’t hiding from him … the number I done on the Deadman at WrestleMania with the ankle lock is what forced him into the shadows.

Angle momentarily smirks, before glaring at Cena again.

Kurt Angle: My ankle lock has hounded The Brothers of Destruction out of the WWE … and I intend on doing everything in my power to add you to that list on Sunday at Vengeance.

Cena, looking just as fired up as Angle, doesn’t take his eyes off the Olympian, shaking his head in disagreement.

John Cena: Forget about tryin to run me outta the WWE. Nobody is capable of runnin me outta town. You just concentrate on tryin to win the match on Sunday, you got your hands full with that task …

Cena goes forehead to forehead with the intense Olympian, as both men breathe heavily, both refusing to back up an inch.

John Cena: Believe me.

The two continue forehead to forehead … as we fade out.

Commercial Break

Backstage, we see Kelly Kelly standing by…

Kelly Kelly: Hi everyone, it’s Kelly Kelly, and right now, I’m with Goldust!!

The Bizarre One walks into the shot, wearing his long blonde wig, and touching Kellys, as if to compare the two. Kelly laughs it off, chuckling, as she conducts the interview.

Kelly Kelly: Goldust, two weeks ago on Superstars (Kelly starts to stop her chuckling) you were the victim of an attack from your broth- I mean, your ‘um apprentice, Cody Rhodes.

Goldust nods, looking dejected, as he stops playing with Kellys hair, and thinks back to the attack two weeks ago.

Goldust: Kelly, all I ever intended to do was to guide young Cody. All I wanted for Cody was the best, and I thought I could help him reach the top. I wanted to be by his side, and watch him grow into the superstar I know he can be. As it turned out though, Cody didn’t want my help…

Goldust snaps out of his sad demeanour, and gets back ‘in character’, flicking the hair from his wig back.

Goldust: But THAT Kelly … THAT’S Cody’s loss!! See he takes life too seriously, Kelly … he didn’t want to have any FUNNNNNNN!!! Do … you … like to have fun, Kelly??

Goldust sniffs Kellys hair, with Kelly smiling, but looking slightly uncomfortable, as Goldust whispers.

Goldust: Would you like to have fun … with me??

Kelly shrugs, unsure how to respond. Goldust then twirls Kelly around, trying to dance with the interviewer. He then stops, brushing her hair back, as the blonde giggles.

Goldust: Don’t be afraid Kelly … I wont … (Bites the air) hmmm … BITE!!

Goldust smirks, and steps back, as Kelly continues to smile.

Goldust: But let me assure you Kelly … after spending some time with me … you’ll never forget the name …

Goldust rubs himself as he does the ‘OOOOOOOOH’

Voice: Pathetic.

Goldust is rudely interrupted … by Cody Rhodes. The youngster looks Goldust up and down, shaking his head in disgust.

Cody Rhodes: And people wonder why I’ve disowned my family.

Rhodes rolls his eyes, shaking his head, and walks on. Goldust watches as Cody leaves, and seems to be back in the shell he was in when the interview began…

Back into the arena…

To a big response from his home state fans, Greg Helms enters the arena looking pumped up, and ready to go.

Jim Ross: Earlier tonight, CM Punk failed to reach the Quarter Finals of the King of the Ring tournament, but right now, Greg Helms has the opportunity to go a step further than his tag team partner. But, to reach Saturday Nights Main Event, he must overcome his good friend, and fellow Carolinian, Matt Hardy.

The Coach: Well, I know one of us is gonna enjoy this. Two of your favourites going toe to toe. I just hope it gets real ugly. I hope these two get down and dirty, and beat the holy hell outta one another.

Jim Ross: I’m sure you’d love that, Coach. And with a place in the Elite Eight up for grabs, friendship will be left at the door, and it could well get ugly between these two.

And, to a massive ovation, Matt Hardy races onto the stage, looking hyped up, excited, and raring to go.

Jim Ross: In six days time, this man, Matt Hardy challenges Shelton Benjamin for the Intercontinental Championship. And, should he win tonight, he will face Benjamin AGAIN at Saturday Nights Main Event. Those two men could be getting to know each other extremely well in the coming weeks.

The Coach: And trust me, Matt Hardy doesn’t want to know Shelton Benjamin that well. If he wins tonight, he’ll be withdrawing from the King of the Ring tournament next week, because he’ll get enough of Shelton Benjamin at Vengeance!!

Jim Ross: You’ve got a lot of confidence in Shelton Benjamin, Coach. Perhaps too much. Folks, don’t go away, Matt Hardy meets Greg Helms … NEXT!!

Commercial Break

Matt Hardy vs. Greg Helms
The Carolinian fans show plenty of interest in this one, with Hardy and Helms being natives, and put on a splendid showcase, with both knowing the other well, allowing them to excite the audience. After a handshake, the initial feeling out process doesn’t last long, before Helms kicks it up a gear, a step too quick for Hardy in the early going. Despite a few near falls, no pin attempt really has Matt in trouble, and the tide quickly turns once Helms looks to launch himself at Matt off the ropes, with Hardy dropping down, and low bridging the ropes, sending Greg soaring out of the ring, crashing hard on the floor below!!

No love is lost with the Elite Eight of the KOTR in the balance, and Matt follows out, forgetting friendship, and gets to work on his opponent, running Greg into the steps, then delivers a catapult into the ring post. Matt sends Greg back into the ring, following inside, and delivers side suplex, floating over for a cover, but only manages to score a two on this occasion. Despite the two, Matt continues on, sending Helms to the corner, charging in, hitting a clothesline, and follows up, hitting a bulldog out of the corner on Helms. Matt decides not to cover this time, and instead gets to his feet, climbing the ropes, setting up for the rarely seen (from Matt in recent times) MOONSAULT … BUT HELMS IS UP … AND HAMMERS THE BACK OF HARDY TO STOP HIM!!

Hardy almost loses his footing, with Helms now climbing up, softening Matt with right hands to the back and head, as they teeter up top … BEFORE HELMS DRILLS MATT WITH A SWINGING NECKBREAKER OFF THE TOP ROPE!!! The fans come to their feet, as Helms busts out his signature top rope neck breaker, with the home state fans showing their appreciation. Both men are down, and the referee begins to administer a standard ten count … which reaches six, before Helms moves, and drapes an arm over Hardy for the cover … 1...2...KICK OUT!!!

Matt survives, but the momentum has swung in Helms favour, and Helms doesn’t want to waste his opportunity, pouring on the pressure, with Matt having to dig deep in order to survive. Greg looks to go for broke now, and eyes the Nightmare on Helms Street … BUT HARDY FIGHTS IT!!! Matt wriggles free, then ducks a clothesline, and catches Helms as he comes back again … SIDE EFFECT!!! Matt is slow to make a cover, selling the effects of Helms offence, 1...2...KICK OUT!!!

Helms shows his will and desire now, surviving the side effect, but Matt stays on him, putting Greg down with a front slam, setting him nicely for the Second Rope Leg Drop, with Matt delivering!!! This time, Hardy doesn’t cover, but gets back to his feet, signalling for the Twist of Fate, as he waits for Helms to regain his footing, stalking his prey. Greg struggles up, seemingly unaware of what’s to come, with Matt spinning him around … TWIST OF FATE … NO!!! Helms spins out … AND CRADLES MATT … 1...2...NO!!!

Hardy barely kicks out of the shock pin, as Helms nearly dumps him out of the KOTR tournament. Both men are straight up from the near fall, with Helms ducking a punch, then catching Matt with a kick to the gut, runs off the ropes, and looks for a blockbuster … BUT MATT AVOIDS IT!!! Helms crashes onto the canvas, and staggers up … STRAIGHT INTO THE TWIST OF FATE … WHICH THIS TIME CONNECTS!!! Hardy hooks the leg tightly … 1...2...3!!!
Winner: Matt Hardy @ 07:29

In a scintillating contest, Hardy prevails, advancing to the Quarter Finals where interestingly he will meet the man he challenges this Sunday for the I.C Title; Shelton Benjamin!!

Jim Ross: Say what you want about these two men Coach, I know you don’t like either of them, but these two proud Carolinians have just put on a heck of a match, a slobber knocker, in front of their home fans!! What a match!! And now, Matt Hardy will meet Shelton Benjamin twice in seven days. The first is this Sunday at Vengeance for the Intercontinental Title, and then at Saturday Nights Main Event in the King of the Ring Quarter Finals.

The Coach: He might’ve won tonight J.R, but Matt Hardy better get used to losing. He doesn’t stand a chance against The Black Diamond either this Sunday, or on the 23rd.

Jim Ross: We’ll have to see about that Coach. Do not, under any circumstances count out that man in any scenario. Matt Hardy will never back down, never stop, never quit. If Shelton Benjamin can defeat that man twice in one week, he’ll have made a believer out of me.

In the ring, Matt helps Greg up, and the fans give both men plenty of respect, cheering on their performance tonight, as the two friends shake hands, then hug, much to the delight of the Carolinians in attendance…

Jim Ross: What the- WHERE DID HE COME FROM!!??

Suddenly, Shelton Benjamin, JTG and Monty Brown arrive on the scene, and put the boots to their respective opponents this Sunday at Vengeance, with the heat levels rising for The Brotherhood.

The Coach: OH YEAH!!! This is how The Brotherhood roll baby boy!!

Jim Ross: Somebody put a stop to this!! Where the hell is CM Punk?? Anybody!!!???

In the ring, Hardy and Helms are set into a corner, with Henry being used as the muscle he is, splashing into both men simultaneously. As they stagger from the corner selling the impact, Monty scores with a POUNCE on Helms, whilst Shelton delivers PAYDIRT to Hardy!!!

The message has been sent, as we quickly shift backstage, and see Helms partner, CM PUNK, laid OUT … with X-Pac and Tyson Tomko standing over him, with Pac smiling heinously, whilst Tomko remains stoic, arms folded, as we realise why Punk didn’t come to the aide of his partner.

Back in the ring, The Brotherhood stand tall, message sent, with Hardy (Benjamins Vengeance opponent) and Helms (The Brotherhoods opponent with Punk in Sundays Fatal Four Way tag title match) down and out, as we fade to commercial.

Commercial Break

Pitch black, until the voiceover begins…

‘Some have been wronged’

Slow silent shot of Kurt Angle, roaring in anger.

‘Some have been doubted’

Silent shot of Mister Kennedy, victorious in the Beat the Clock challenge.

‘Some have crossed the line’

Silent shot of a sobbing Mickie James.

‘Yet some have yet to scratch the surface’

Silent shot of Umaga standing over Shawn Michaels.

… Still silence … then a sudden rush of crowd noise …

‘But on this night, NO act goes unpunished…’

Shawn Michaels firing up, gritting his teeth.

‘The wrongs can be righted … the doubters can be silenced’

John Cena and Kurt Angle exchanging blows … Mister Kennedy and Christian locking eyes at the close of Raw on Monday.

‘Lines can be crossed … and the boundaries can be forgotten’

Flashing shots of high flying risks from Shelton Benjamin, Rey Mysterio, Matt Hardy & Straight Edge.

‘For on this night … VENGEANCE … will be served’

Vengeance logo flashes across the screen.

The Killers ‘Move Away’ plays over the PA now, as the graphics for Vengeance appear on the screen.

Jim Ross: On a personal level, I’ve never been more excited for a Pay Per View event Coach, but even if it wasn’t being held in my home state of Oklahoma, I’d be extremely excited for Vengeance this Sunday!!

The Coach: I don’t blame ya baby boy!! Vengeance is off the charts!! I don’t know who you blackmailed to get this thing held in Oklahoma, but that’s an issue for another time.

Jim Ross: It’s been long overdue, Coach. The first EVER Pay Per View in Oklahoma, but it’ll be worth the wait. Not one, not two, but THREE main events are set!! The first of those three?? A thirty minute, Ultimate Submission Match - only the second match of it’s kind in WWE history - between the Wrestling Machine, Kurt Angle, and the Chain Gang Soldier, John Cena!! Bad blood has been brewing for months between these two men.

The Coach: You can describe the hatred that runs between these two. Kurt Angle hates John Cena, and everything he stands for, whilst Cena hates the fact that Kurt Angle doesn’t look at him as a challenge. A lot of bragging rights up for grabs on Sunday.

Jim Ross: There’s nothing that will keep Cena and Angle from being at Vengeance, that’s for sure, but will the revelation of last month keep Mickie James from competing on Sunday?? The womens champion is scheduled to defend her Womens Title against Melina, but after a month of hiding, can Mickie find the will within herself to make a comeback?? Her job depends on it!!

The Coach: Doesn’t matter. If she doesn’t show, she’s history - but Beth Phoenix will still be on her trail. If she does show, she’ll keep her job, but she’ll still be losing her title. Cut and dry, old timer.

Jim Ross: All four titles on Raw will be defended this Sunday, but no champion is up against it more than Straight Edge. Greg Helms and CM Punk will have to deal with three challengers, and don’t even have to be involved in the decision to lose their titles!! Can the champions find a way to keep the gold??

The Coach: My money is on The Brotherhood, J.R. The British Lions have a weak link, Tomko and X-Pac only started tagging a few weeks ago. Right now, Straight Edge look vulnerable to me. This is the perfect time for my boys to strike.

Jim Ross: In the second of the three main events, Shawn Michaels faces the most daunting challenge of his twenty year career. A Last Man Standing match await’s the Heart Break Kid at Vengeance against the undefeated Mister Money in the Bank, Umaga.

The Coach: Shawn Michaels has done it all in the WWE. Last week, he did indeed put Umaga down, something many of us never thought was possible. But trust me, he WONT do it again this Sunday. Like I said, he’s done it all … except retire. That retirement will be enforced by Umaga at Vengeance.

Jim Ross: Over the last two months, Shawn Michaels has found himself on the end of Umagas wrath, and over the past month, Rey Mysterio has found himself in a similar situation, with Rhyno targeting Rey since his return. They meet at Vengeance in a good ‘ol fashioned grudge match.

The Coach: Oh yeah, I love the intensity of the Man Beast. He’s takin no prisoners, and Rey Mysterio could find himself in serious trouble on Sunday.

Jim Ross: The Intercontinental Championship is on the line at Vengeance. Two of the most exciting talents on Raw will lock horns, Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy, duking it out in what promises to be a potential classic.

The Coach: After the number King Benjamin put on Hardy tonight, this thing is no contest. Shelton to win this thing hands down!! This kids future is way beyond anything Matt Hardy can dream about. He’s gonna be the greatest Intercontinental Champ in history, he’s gonna be King of the Ring in less than two weeks … it’ll be a great summer for The Black Diamond.

Jim Ross: It’s a triple main event this Sunday, but THE main event is for the richest prize in the game. Christian defends his World Championship against a man that is proving to be a thorn in his side ever since becoming the Number One Contender, Mister Kennedy. Does Christian take the challenger seriously?? Does Kennedy belong in the upper echelon?? We’re gonna find out at Vengeance.

The Coach: Damn right we’re gonna find out!! We’re gonna crown a new World Heavyweight Champ in Okalhoma!! The moment Mister Kennedy has been waiting for his whole life … and it happens in Okalhoma?? That’s a shame if you ask me, but the important thing is; we’re crowning a NEW World Champion in six days time.

Jim Ross: That remains to be seen Coach. You seem to be VERY confident in your picks, but we both know that in this business, NOTHING is guaranteed. And on Pay Per View, ANYTHING can happen.

The Coach: Without a doubt, baby boy. Look at that line up. If you order one show this month, don’t take your girlfriend to the movies, don’t take your other girlfriend for dinner, order Vengeance NOW!! And if those women don’t understand, they aint worth it. Bottom line, you have GOT to order Vengeance people.

Jim Ross: Ever thought about being a relationship counsellor??

The Coach: Yeah … don’t get in them.

Jim Ross: Hard to disagree with you Coach.

And suddenly, interrupting the proceedings of the commentary team is the #1 Contender, Mister Kennedy, looking VERY focused.

Jim Ross: He is a man on a mission, Coach. Mister Kennedy DESPERATELY wants that World Heavyweight Championship, and he is still seething after Christian attacked him last week. Our main event is still to come, folks, but I believe when we come back, Mister Kennedy has something he wants to say. We’ll be right back.

Commercial Break

We return to Raw with Mister Kennedy in the ring, mic in hand, hunched over the top rope, looking bored of the fans attitude.

Mister Kennedy: Roll the footage.

Kennedy points toward the titan tron…

Christian enters, and stands opposite to Kennedy, staring a hole through him, as Kennedy decides to make the first move…

Mister Kennedy: So I guess-

CHRISTIAN NAILS KENNEDY!!! Christian rocks Kennedy with the mic, slamming it into the face of the #1 Contender, and batters him into the corner, pounding him with rights and lefts, with Kennedy desperately trying to cover up, but it’s no good. Christian then attempts an Irish Whip to the opposite corner … but Kennedy reverses, sending the champion into the corner, then rushes in … but Christian swings out, onto the ropes, and Kennedy runs into the buckle, stumbling out, with Christian catching him with the seesaw kick!!

Kennedy staggers away, as Christian now sets himself on the middle buckle, waiting for Kennedy to turn around, and as soon as he does, Christian flies off, catching the #1 Contender with a reverse flying elbow. Kennedy struggles to pick himself off the canvas, reeling from the unsuspected attack, whilst Christian looks to really drive home a message, picking up the World title belt … AND NAILS KENNEDY WITH THE BELT!!!

‘OOOHS’ rumble around the arena, as Christian picks up the intensity, slamming the belt down, and now NOT waiting for Kennedy to get up, and DRAGGING the #1 contender to his feet … getting him into position … AND DROPS KENNEDY WITH THE UNPRETTIER!!!!!

The Champion places the belt over his shoulder, and mirroring the end of last weeks show, stands over his challenger…

Christian: Congratulations. You’ve got my attention.

Back live, Mister Kennedy remains stoic, looking up at the screen, with the fans cheering what they’ve just saw.

Mister Kennedy: Regardless of how much longer he has that belt, is that how a champion should conduct himself?? Huh??

Kennedy moves from the ropes, and slowly walks around the ring, looking to the audience as he speaks.

Mister Kennedy: What exactly was Christians motive for that unprovoked assault??

Mister Kennedy: What did I do to deserve that?? I didn’t resort to those kind of tactics … I didn’t do anything to warrant that attack. All I’ve done to Christian … is outsmart him.

Kennedy grins, chewing on his gum, whilst the fans continue to give him heat.

Mister Kennedy: You people know I’m right. I’ve done everything by the book. I didn’t blindside Christian, I didn’t attack him backstage. The only time I put my hands on Christian was when we were in the same match. Three weeks ago, I got the better of him in the ring during our tag match, and left him laying. Two weeks ago, in Pick Your Poison, I overcame his pick; Shawn Michaels-

Pop for the mention of HBK.

Mister Kennedy: And then I took advantage of the rules; I didn’t break them, I merely took advantage. It was never stipulated that Pick Your Poison was to be strictly one on one. So why not stack the deck??

Kennedy shrugs.

Mister Kennedy: You’ll all agree that that was smart, surely??

The #1 Contender looks around for some kind of confirmation.

Mister Kennedy: Christian sure as hell agrees. As a matter of fact, he proved last week how much it’s gotten to him. He had no reason to attack me … except that I had embarrassed and humiliated him. And little ‘ol Ken Kennedy wasn’t supposed to do that, was he??

Smiling again, Kennedy continues.

Mister Kennedy: But I have. I hate to beat a dead horse, but Christian didn’t treat me as a threat. He thought he could just roll into Vengeance and coast through a nights work. Now?? Now, I’ve captured his attention. Why thank you, Christian. How kind of you to award me the bare minimum of your attention.

Kennedy scowls, clearly being sarcastic with his gratitude.

Mister Kennedy: And boy, did I get your attention Champ?? I mean, when was the last time you saw Christian in that kind of mood?? Huh?? Usually so calm, cool, collected. Normally so humorous and cocky … ha. He looked a little rattled last week, didn’t he?? Last week Christian, you simply showed me that I’ve got your head … and this day next week … I’ll have your belt.

Mister Kennedy: I want you all to savour this-

And suddenly, the heat turns to cheers, as CHRISTIAN steps onto the stage, dressed for action, saluting the fans. The champion makes his way down the aisle, as Kennedy paces around the ring, keeping on guard, after last weeks attack.

Christian climbs onto the apron, and steps inside the ring, walking by Kennedy, and taking a mic from ringside, before turning his attention to the #1 Contender as his music dies down. Kennedy walks around the ring, keeping his focus on Christian, as he speaks.

Mister Kennedy: Soooo, what do I owe the pleasure?? You got something to say Christian?? Or are you waiting to go for another cheap shot??

Christian grins, clapping the line from Kennedy.

Christian: Relax Kennedy, I’ll have plenty of time later to give you a beating. Right now, I just wanted to come out here and deliver a few home truths.

Kennedy feigns excitement.

Christian: First of all, I think it’s time to quit the “not being taken seriously” spiel. I’m sick of hearing it, and I’m pretty sure my peeps are fed up with it too.

Cheap pop from ‘The Peeps’, as Christian nods.

Christian: Besides, if you really want to be taken seriously, how about you stop with your lame Michael Buffer routine.

Pop from the fans.

Christian: And while you’re at it, how about you stop stuttering your name?? KENNEDY, Kennedy … K- K- KENNEDY!!

Another pop. Kennedy looks nonplussed, whilst Christian gets serious.

Christian: Look, it’s as simple as this; I’m not looking past Vengeance. And if you STILL think I am … and you’re counting on it as your chance to just swoop in and steal the World Heavyweight Title from me?? You better rethink your game plan, friend.

Christian nods, and gives Kennedy a chance to speak, with Kennedy walking forward.

Mister Kennedy: Don’t call me friend. I’m not your friend.

Christian raises his eye brows, and smirks.

Mister Kennedy: Did I say something funny?? Laugh all you want, Champ, we’ll see who laughs on Sunday. I really don’t care if I’m running the same point into the ground. As far as I’m concerned, you’ve not given me the respect I deserve. I still don’t believe you’re viewing me as a serious threat.

Christian rolls his eyes at the accusation.

Mister Kennedy: By the time you do … it’ll be too late. You’ll finally take me seriously, and view me as your equal … when that title belt is around my waist.

Boos from the fans.

Mister Kennedy: But that’s Sunday, isn’t it??

Now, Kennedy smirks again, chewing on his gum, looking by Christian, and up the aisle …

The fans boo, as Christian nods, realising what is about to happen.

Mister Kennedy: Y’see Christian, I didn’t take kindly to that attack last week. I didn’t assault you before then, I didn’t sneak up and attack you. After you crossed that line last week, my feeling is … all bets are off. And my tag team partner tonight … well, it turns out he’s not a fan of yours.

Umaga paces down the aisle, with a 2 on 1 attack seemingly on the horizon … UNTIL SHAWN MICHAELS RACES OUT, AND LAUNCHES AT UMAGA FROM BEHIND!!!

Umaga tumbles, and falls over, with HBK instantly on him, whilst in the ring, Christian and Kennedy now trade blows, with the 2 on 1 attack not panning out as Kennedy had envisioned. The battle continues, in and out of the ring for a few seconds, until…

The fans rise for the music of John Cena, with the leader of the Cenation stepping onto the stage, surveying the carnage … BEFORE BEING ATTACKED FROM BEHIND BY KURT ANGLE!!!

Angle clubs Cena from behind, with Cena going down, and tumbling down the aisle, whilst we see HBK ramming Umaga into the steel ring post, and in the ring, Christian hammers Kennedy in the corner. Angle stands over Cena, pounding the head of his hated foe, but Cena battles back, shoving Kurt off, and fighting to his feet.

Cena and Angle fight tooth and nail at ringside, toppling over the barrier, and continuing their fight in the crowd. In the ring, Kennedy battles back against Christian, tackling the Champion down, and trading blows on the canvas, whilst outside the ring, HBK gets creamed by Umaga, and knocked down.

Now, we see Eric Bischoff on the stage, signalling behind the curtain, as referees and agents spill out, and run down the aisle, as Bischoff looks to restore order ahead of the main event.

Jim Ross: Ladies and Gentlemen, it has broken down here in Charlotte!! The Triple Main Event this Sunday at Vengeance has exploded!!! We’re supposed to be having a main event here tonight!!!

The Coach: How they hell is anyone gonna get this to stop???

Jim Ross: We’re about to find out, Coach. We are going to go to a commercial here, and when we return, we hope order can be restored, and we can have our main event!! THIS IS CARNAGE HERE!!!

Commercial Break

Main Event | Triple Threat Tag Team Match:
Christian & John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels & Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Kennedy & Umaga
Joined in progress, with order finally restored. Michaels and Kennedy are the legal men, with HBK going to work with chops in the corner, but as he attempts an Irish whip, Kennedy reverses, sending Michaels across, but HBK leaps up, pushing off the top turnbuckle, and vaulting over Kennedy, then SLAPS the taste right out of the #1 Contenders mouth, before delivering the inverted atomic drop. HBK delivers a whip, but it’s Kennedy that strikes on the return, dropping Michaels with a clothesline, before interestingly making a tag to John Cena.

Cena slowly enters, as Kennedy points to HBK whilst stepping out, telling Cena to get to work. Cena glares at Kennedy for a moment, but does his job, shoving HBK into the corner, and delivers a shower of rights and lefts to the body of his opponent, then shoots HBK off the ropes, knocking him down with a reverse elbow. Just as he drags Shawn back up, Cenas attention is diverted by Michaels partner -Cenas Vengeance opponent- Angle, with Kurt challenging Cena to allow HBK to make a tag and face him right now. Cena momentarily looks set to accept … but before he can allow the tag … MICHAELS SURPRISES HIM WITH A SIDE SUPLEX, making the cover, 1...2...NO!!!

Both men slowly rise back to their feet, with HBK shooting off the ropes, ducking under Cena, then comes back again, and SCORES with a flying forearm!! Cena stays down this time, as HBK gets to his feet, with Angle now DEMANDING a tag from his partner. Michaels takes exception to the demands, not liking Kurts attitude toward him, and the two share a few words … whilst UMAGA makes a blind tag from Cena as the former World Champion reaches his feet!!

Suddenly, Angle isn’t so keen on tagging in, with HBK still unaware of the tag, and offers Angle in the match, looking puzzled as to why Kurt now doesn’t want the tag, and turns around … realising why!! The fans come alive, as one of the three main events this Sunday now share the ring, and HBK doesn’t back up an inch, challenging his mammoth opponent to bring it on, and Umaga accepts, coming after HBK, and the two meet in the middle of the ring!!! Valiantly, Michaels gives his all, but his punches just don’t have an effect on Umaga, and nor do his chops, with Umaga shoving him away, THEN DRILLING an oncoming HBK with the rolling leg kick!!!

HBK tumbles away, rolling to the corner, with Umaga following in, stomping the hell out of The Showstopper. Umaga drags Shawn up, with Michaels fighting back, again, to no avail, as Umaga shoots him off the ropes … but this time, Michaels hangs onto the ropes instead of coming back, forcing Umaga to come after him, and as he does, HBK ducks under, and runs off the ropes, launching himself at the big man … BUT GETS CAUGHT … AND DRILLED HARD WITH A SWINGING POWERSLAM!!!!! The cover is made, 1...2...NO!!! Michaels gets a shoulder up, much to the delight of the fans. Umaga though wastes no time, and sends HBK into the corner … where Christian tags in off the back of The Showstopper. Umaga though still piles in, AND CRUSHES Michaels in the corner!!

Christian now steps into the ring, getting a pop from the fans, and stands in the face of the undefeated Mister Money in the Bank, as we see Kennedy damn near climbing over the ropes, YELLING at Umaga, with Estrada also joining in, looking for the Bulldozer to tag out. Kennedy continues to lean in over the top, desperate for the tag … AS CHRISTIAN TAKES A CHEAP SHOT AT KENNEDY WITH A SLAP, KNOCKING KENNEDY OFF THE ROPES!!!

The fans pop for the slap, as Kennedy stumbles to stay vertical on the apron, with Christian turning his attention back to Umaga, as the Samoan Bulldozer is called off by Estrada, and Kurt Angle is fed up with the stalling … tagging in off Umaga, and getting into the ring, making a beeline for Christian, and delivers a right hand, kick starting proceedings, with Christian firing back, but gets caught with a big knee to the gut, followed by a strong forearm uppercut, sending the champion reeling into the corner … where Mister Kennedy makes the most of a distraction from Angle, and hammers Christian, getting revenge for the cheap shot.

Angle then moves back in, stomping Christian, hauling him up … AND DELIVERS A BELLY TO BELLY!!! Angle has Christian at his mercy, but decides not to go to work … instead, dragging the champion back up, and chucks him to his own corner, DEMANDING that Cena tag himself in!! The fans cheer, as Angle crouches down, ordering that Cena tag in, with Cena obliging, to a massive pop. Cena steps inside … AND IS MET INSTANTLY BY ANGLE!!! Angle shoots right in on Cena, not giving him a moment to set, taking him down and looking to school Cena … but Cena slips free, and makes it to his feet … ROCKING Angle with a right hand, and charges him into the corner, letting fly on the Olympian!! Eventually, the referee steps in, looking for a break, and as Cena backs off - Angle cheap shots his hated foe!!

Cena doubles over, as Angle shoots behind, firing off a German suplex, and attempts a second, but Cena blocks, then surprises Angle with a snap mare, before knocking Angle down as soon as he pops up with a clothesline. Cena runs off the ropes, and launches at Kurt with a flying shoulder block, putting Angle back on the canvas, much to the delight of the vocal majority of fans. Cena is all revved up now, and drags Angle back up, looking for a Blue Thunder bomb, but Angle shoves his enemy away, and quickly tags Kennedy in, not wanting anymore of a fired up Cena at this point, immediately stepping out of the ring, much to the chagrin of Cena, and the fans, who boo Kurt for backing out of the fight.

Kennedy tentatively steps inside, as we watch a frustrated Angle walk around ringside, talking to himself. Cena turns his focus to Kennedy, but not for long, as Christian makes a call to his partner, wanting a piece of Kennedy. Cena looks up, and out of the ring to the fans, looking to gage a response - and gets a positive one - with the fans wanting to see Christian and Kennedy lock horns ahead of Vengeance. Cena turns, and looks to Christian, sharing a few words with the champion initially, then offers his hand, with Captain Charisma making the tag to a big pop.
Kennedy looks ready for it, hopping up and down, looking excited. Christian nods in agreement, as they meet in the middle of the ring, and the fans excitement grows with the Vengeance main event face to face. Both men talk trash to the other … BEFORE GOING AT IT - TOOTH AND NAIL!!! Christian and Kennedy trade punches in the middle of the ring, with Christian getting the better of the exchange, shooting Kennedy off the ropes, ducking down, with Kennedy coming back, kicking Christian, forcing the champion to reel away. Kennedy stays on him, pounding the back, before delivering an Irish Whip to the corner, charging in … BUT CHRISTIAN HITS HIM WITH THE SEESAW KICK!!!

The Champion follows up, delivering the reverse DDT to Kennedy, making a cover, 1...2...NO!!! Christian pulls Kennedy back up, softening him up with blows, and sends the 2006 King of the Ring off the ropes again, and hit’s a big back body drop, putting the #1 Contender on his back again. Kennedy struggles to his feet in the corner, as Christian looks to follow in … BUT KENNEDY BLASTS OUT OF THE CORNER WITH A CLOTHESLINE!!! Kennedy knocks Christian down, and puts the boots to the champion, choking him in the corner with his boot, before backing off … then follows up with THE FACEWASH!!! Kennedy drags Christian into the middle of the ring … 1...2...NO!!!

Kennedy continues to put the hurting on Christian, but as he attempts the Mic Check, Christian starts to fight back, wriggling free, beating off Kennedy with right hands, then runs off the ropes, ducking under a wild clothesline attempt … AND BOUNCES BACK WITH A FLYING BODY SPLASH!!! Both men are down, and both crawl around the canvas, each looking to make a tag … Christian nearing the corner of HBK & Angle … Kennedy nearing the corner of Cena & Christian (meaning any tag he makes to Cena whilst Christian is legal will be null and void) … AND CHRISTIAN MAKES A TAG TO MICHAELS!!!

Michaels gets inside, with Kennedy still the legal man … BUT UMAGA DOESN’T WAIT FOR A TAG AND ENTERS THE RING … RUNNING THROUGH HBK LIKE A STEAM TRAIN!!! And suddenly, hell breaks loose!!! Cena tags the back of Kennedy, and enters, CHARGING INTO UMAGA!!! Cena opens up on Umaga in the corner … UNTIL KURT ANGLE TAKES HIM FROM BEHIND … AND DELIVERS THE ANGLE SLAM!!!!!

Angle scores on Cena … THEN CATCHES AN ONCOMING UMAGA … BELLY TO BELLY!!! The most almighty Belly to Belly CONNECTS!!! The fans are on their feet, as the Olympian roars to the skies, letting out all his aggression … until faced with Shawn Michaels. The partner of Angle tonight reaches his feet, and takes exception for Kurt attacking Cena from behind - after Cena saved Michaels - and the two begin to argue in the middle of the ring. Meanwhile, on the outside, Kennedy and Christian are at it again, trading blows back and forth … but in the ring, Angle has had enough of Michaels and SHOVES Shawn, with Michaels coming back instantly … SWEET CHIN MUSIC … MISSES!!! Angle ducks under, then looks for the ANGLE SLAM … BUT HBK LANDS ON HIS FEET … Angle spins around … SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

Shawn Michaels NAILS his own partner with SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!! The fans are on their feet, as Michaels stands over his partner, looking at the fans … THEN DELIVERS SWEET CHIN MUSIC TO UMAGA!!! Michaels DROPS Umaga, and makes a cover, with the referee seemingly lost as to who is legal … AND MAKES THE COUNT … 1...2...KICK OUT!!! UMAGA KICKS OUT!!! Sweet Chin Music fails to put Umaga down for three, and the fans aren’t happy. As HBK gets back up in the ring, we see Armando Estrada and Kennedy standing over Christian, having doubled up to take the champion out of commission. In the ring, MICHAELS TUNES UP THE BAND!!!

The Showstopper stamps his feet, waiting for Umaga to get back to his feet, looking for the killer blow … BUT KENNEDY TRIPS HIS FEET FROM THE OUTSIDE … AND DRAGS HBK - CROTCH FIRST - INTO THE POST!!! Michaels is out of the equation for now, as Kennedy rolls back inside, and targets Angle, stomping the Olympian, whilst shouting to Umaga, wanting his partner to help, and the slightly groggy Umaga obliges - after a nod from Estrada - and Angle finds himself on the end of a two on one attack. Kennedy sends Kurt into the corner, then gives Umaga the go ahead … TO DELIVER THE RUNNING BUTT SPLASH!!! Angle crumbles in the corner, as Kennedy quickly moves back in, dragging the Olympian up, looking to continue the punishment … BUT CENA - Angles rival - SAVES KURT!!!

Cena spins Kennedy around, knocking the #1 Contender down with a right hand, then thinks quick as Umaga closes in with a run, dropping the top rope, and allowing the Samoan Bulldozers momentum to carry him through, and out of the ring!!! Cena then has to duck a punch from Kennedy, AND HOISTS HIM UP FOR THE FU … BUT KURT ANGLE COMES FROM BEHIND … AND ANGLE SLAMS CENA FOR THE SECOND TIME!!! Angle shows no gratitude for Cena saving him from a beat down, and smirks as he gets up, motioning to Kennedy that ‘he’s all yours’, as Kennedy drops down … AND APPLIES THE KROSSFACE!!!

Shawn Michaels is back on his feet, but Angle - supposedly his tag team partner - puts the Showstopper back down with a Belly to Belly, as Kennedy cranks back on Cena with his Krossface. Christian now attempts to re-enter the ring, but he is stomped on entry by Angle, before Umaga drags the champion back outside … CHUCKING Christian through the steel steps!!! In the ring, Cena is helpless … in the middle of the ring, with no one able to come to his rescue, as Angle drops down, trash talking the fading Cena … telling him to tap, to quit … BUT CENA REFUSES!!! Cena pushes up, spurred on by the trash talking … but his effort to make the ropes is futile … with Angle putting the boots to the defenceless face of the trapped Cena, making sure he stays down … and fades … fades … and passes out.
Winners: Mister Kennedy & Umaga @ 13:21

Kennedy rides into Vengeance on a HUGE wave of momentum, releasing the hold, and raising his arms in victory, whilst Angle continues to trash talk Cena, grabbing his bitter rivals face, telling him he WILL quit on Sunday.

Umaga and Estrada now join Kennedy in the ring, as Angle gets back up, grabbing the attention of Kennedy. The two stand face to face, with Angle seemingly talking about the 2 on 1 attack earlier on him, as if to tell the #1 Contender he hasn’t forgotten it, before shooting a stare at Estrada, as he exit’s the ring, walking up the aisle.

As Angle walks up the aisle, we see Umaga dragging the defenceless HBK back to his feet, roaring at him in his tribal tongue … BEFORE DELIVERING THE SAMOAN SPIKE!!! Umaga delivers a final message to Michaels ahead of Last Man Standing on Sunday, and stands over his broken body with a smiling AAE. Meanwhile, Kennedy sees Christian trying to regroup on the outside - and a smirk emerges - with Kennedy having an idea. The #1 Contender quickly slips out of the ring, and throws Christian back inside, before grabbing the World Championship belt, and re-enters the ring himself.

Licking his lips, Kennedy looks to pick his spot … sizing Christian up … AND NAILS THE CHAMPION WITH THE TITLE BELT!!! The fans shower the ring with white hot heat, as Kennedy leans over the ropes, laughing heartily at his actions, clutching onto the title belt. The #1 Contender soon turns his attention back to the ring, and stands over Christian, slowly raising the title belt in the air, yelling “THAT‘S HOW I ROLL”.

Jim Ross: Mister Kennedy has made a stunning statement tonight. He has shown no mercy to Christian!! Look at the carnage!!! Shawn Michaels is down … John Cena is down … and the Champion of the World is down.

The Coach: Expect to see it on Sunday, J.R. Shawn Michaels is going down, John Cena is tapping out, and Christian is leaving empty handed. It’s time for a change, and Mister Kennedy is the face of that change!!

Jim Ross: Tonight, we have seen statements made across the board!! Rhyno attacking Rey Mysterio, The Brotherhood leaving Matt Hardy and Straight Edge laying, the divas pleading with Mickie James to return … and now, we’ve seen Kurt Angle, Umaga and Mister Kennedy leave their opponents this Sunday laying!! What kind of VENGEANCE will be in store for these men and women on Sunday??

The show comes to a close with Kennedy and Umaga both standing tall in the ring … a sign of things to come at Vengeance??

Re: Being The Booker

Decent enough start to the show, HBK is quite simple to write with as a face and thats cool, you did well as usual. Estrada coming out without Umaga was nice too, a refreshing change from the brawls we've seen so often. Chilling words to end the segment from AAE, but I can see HBK pulling off the "unlikely" victory at Vengeance. That said, you were a huge Umaga mark so I'm expecting Mags to win and move onto a feud with Christian, but I don't rule HBK out either

Ugh if Paul London wins KOTR I'll kill you tbh. I've enjoyed the push you've given him but honestly I don't think he's good enough to be main event material at all. I don't know who else could win if he doesn't though, MVP and Albright are decent shouts and I'd like to see Albright get the chance

Legit @

Jim Ross: What ovation??
Expected Shelton to win here as Rey's too established to need KOTR anyways. I'd love to see Benji get to the final as Shelton/Albright would own and I'd be happy with either man winning. Nice end to the match as it's usually Shelton who gets owned with a Springboard counter. RHYNO! Ownage. Rey to job to Rhyno plz. Give the Man Beast a badass run at the IC title for major RATINGS

Ok stuff from Punk & Helms, hoping they have a good run as a tag team, as teams like this there's always potential to break them up and make a feud out of it, but that's so damn boring, and you've made these guys a good duo. They'll retain at Vengeance imo, as none of the other teams seem good enough

MNM managing to weasel a chance to get into the mix, hope they do, but I don't know if they will, and even if they do, they're not likely to take the titles. The Bisch being funny was nice too on the track record call

Surprised Regal beat Punk, but there's no way in hell he's beating Umaga at SNME. Umaga, I forgot was in the KOTR with his programme with HBK, is obviously the favourite for the crown but I can see HBK costing him the final to get them to have a final blow off to their feud

lol Gail Kim debuting. Trying to be like the WWE and conveniently forget her previous run in the company?

lol MNM lose. Well that makes it certain Straight Edge won't lose at Vengeance, and here comes the predictable split between MNM, which I can't say I'm happy with at all. One of your few good remaining credible teams being broken up annoys me. Really not looking forward to this angle and the equally mundane John Morrison gimmick which is likely coming

Melina squashing Maria is elementary, the promo that followed and Victoria's subsequent appearance was nice, Mickie's got her friends and I can definitely see her showing up on Sunday, it's set up all to well for her not to. Victoria/Beth in the mix will be good, would love to see a Victoria/Beth match

Intense promo from Cena and Angle there, really would like Angle to win as I fucking hate face Cena so much and he needs to gtfaway from the title. However with Undertaker probably wanting some revenge (Kane too) I can see that happening by Summerslam and Cena back to boring us all in the title picture. Overall, an enjoyable segment with both men in character, let's face it it's not hard to write SUPERCENA anyways as a face but Angle impressed me

Goldust > Cody. Cody fucking sucks. Job plz

Not surprised to see Helms follow suit from Punk earlier and lose, and to a much more credible threat in Matt Hardy. Good action in this match and Hardy/Benji likewise at Vengeance should be quite the contest. The Brotherhood are some force atm, ratings for this and X-PAC too. Replace JTG with Elijah Burke for the ultimate Brotherhood stable tbh. Good stuff from the heels to send the faces a message

Nice promo for Vengeance and good run down of a solid card

Was wondering if Kennedy and Christian were gonna get some mic time and was pleased to see them do so. I'm a fan of you with Christian as you keep his humour around and Kennedy certainately contributes to a good promo here. Awesome way to start the main event aswell with run downs galore and the brawl

Huge rocker of a main event, thoroughly enjoyable stuff to close the show off with total chaos, partners turning on each other and big spots galore. Not a fan of two back to back heel beatdowns as it almost promises a bunch of face wins at Vengeance but I'll be damned if this didn't make me care about the PPV a whole lot more, even if Christian's predictably beating Kennedy, the HBK/Umaga match is definite RATINGS and Angle/Cena has potential

Overall = RATINGS. You continue to deliver despite taking a nosedive into the mundane realism valley, and keeping up with what's happened IRL by making changes into your thread which I don't like (shit like Cody Rhodes being around, MNM splitting up) but you've still got some goodness to work with so thumbs up to you sir
