WWE Sky Sports Special; January 24th; Glasgow:

John Cena opens the one hour special, broadcast live on Sky Sports, getting the raucous fans on their feet. Cena makes his way to the ring, and grabs a mic, needing a minute to calm the fans down. He quickly gets to the point, and briefs the fans on what went down on Raw this past Monday, where he earned a final lifeline, earning a title shot at SuperBrawl, and later, Triple H would offer Cena the opportunity to make the stipulation. With little time to spare, Cena quickly gets to business, telling the fans he’s been thinking long and hard, but has decided against picking an obvious choice like a Streetfight or Last Man Standing, instead, he is willing to prove himself against The Game, and prove himself to anyone that doubts him … willing to prove that he fears nothing and regrets less … by challenging Triple H to a sixty minute Iron Man Match!!! The fans arent thrilled, but pop for the announcement anyway … but then go nuts as Cena also announces he’s in action TONIGHT, going one on one with an old enemy, Finlay.

We return after a commercial, and finally get to hear from tonights announcers … Michael Cole & Coach. They run down the three matches tonight; Cena vs. Finlay from Raw, Chavo Guerrero vs. Brian Kendrick from Smackdown with the winner facing Kid Kash on Friday (even though the match for Smackdown was taped on Tuesday~!), and the big main event, pitting the WWE Champion, Rob Van Dam & the Intercontinental Champion, Rey Mysterio against the #1 Contender @ SuperBrawl, Chris Jericho & Mister Kennedy from Raw.

Chavo Guerrero defeats Brian Kendrick @ 04:54 to earn a title shot against Kid Kash on Smackdown this Friday.

A promo for SuperBrawl plays.

After the next commercial break, we return, and Cole & Coach show a highlight package of the sickening attack on Christian on Monday by Tomko. Cole announces that Christian has been in hospital for the last couple of days, and may be kept in for up to a fortnight.

John Cena defeats Finlay @ 06:47 with the STFU.

The WrestleMania VP plays.

Cole & Coach now hype this weeks Smackdown, announcing the big matches.

The Raw & Smackdown hybrid main event closes things as RVD & Rey Mysterio team up to face Chris Jericho & Mr. Kennedy. It’s a top quality match up, with history on both sides, and the two teams get to have plenty of time to tell their story. The match eventually breaks down, as Jericho saves Kennedy from the 619, which gives RVD a reason to come after Jericho, giving us a four man brawl. In the midst of the madness, Jericho gets a legal tag from Kennedy but it goes undetected by Van Dam and Mysterio, who still believe it is Kennedy.
The finish comes as Rey DOES hit the 619 on Kennedy, with Van Dam following up, nailing the Five Star Frog Splash!!! Kennedy is beat, with Mysterio making the cover, whilst Jericho baseball slides RVD out of the ring, then lies in wait for Rey to get up having realised Kennedy isn’t legal. And as Mysterio reaches his feet … Jericho comes from behind with a bulldog, and follows up with the Lionsault!!! Jericho covers, 1...2...3!!! The Number One Contender scores himself an impressive, smart win @ 14:55, building momentum for SuperBrawl, when he challenges Van Dam.

After the match, Jericho and Kennedy look to put the exclamation mark on the victory, but Rob Van Dam comes to the aid of Mysterio, running off the two heels, locking eyes with Jericho, as the show goes off the air.

***

Not really expecting any reviews for this show tbh, it's not intended to be a big show or anything like that. Really, it's here for the sole purpose of being an extra show to allow more build up for SuperBrawl, as I didnt want to cram too much into an already loaded Raw last just past. It was quickly recapped for that reason.

Of course, any further thoughts on Raw would be appreciated

Smackdown Preview:

Smackdown rolls into Sheffield, England this Friday with a showcase of the best talent on Smackdown set to be on show in the United Kingdom, with championships and WrestleMania places up for grabs.

This past Wednesday night on the Sky Sports special, available in the U.S on wwe.com, Chavo Guerrero defeated Brian Kendrick to earn a title shot tonight. Will forty eight hours be enough recuperation time for Chavo, as he challenges Kid Kash for the Cruiserweight Title, looking to win the title for the first time in nearly two years.

Meanwhile, one of Batista, Bobby Lashley and M.V.P will look to join the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga in the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania. Those three men face off with just one spot open in the ladder match at WrestleMania for the winner. Which of these three men will come one step closer to a guaranteed title shot??

Edge, the man who challenges either Rob Van Dam or Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, will also be in action this week, taking on Englands own William Regal. Mister Money in the Bank will be surely hoping to send a message to both potential opponents by defeating the veteran in his home country, but with home field advantage, could Regal rise to the occassion and shock Mister Money in the Bank??

Following his shocking return to the WWE after four years in exile at the Royal Rumble, Jeff Hardy makes his Smackdown debut this week, and as per request of Americas Most Wanted, Hardy will face one half of the tag team champions, Chris Harris. The Wildcat and The Cowboy have been hell bent on revenge following the return of Jeff at the Royal Rumble, saving his brother, and this week, they'll have their opportunity to make Heff Hardys comeback very short lived.

This past Monday, Raw General Manager announced the three men from his brand to take part in the upcoming 'Super-Brawl'; Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton & Brock Lesnar. This Friday, Arn Anderson will reveal the three Smackdown superstars set to partake in the first ever match. Which three men will take part, with the chance to name their own opponent at WrestleMania 23??

Then, the main event. Chris Jericho, just eight days away from challenging Rob Van Dam for the WWE Championship will face the Wrestling Machine, and Olympic Gold Medallist, Kurt Angle. Angle has been on the roll of a lifetime since returning at the Survivor Series, making The Undertaker tap out for the first time ever, eliminating The Deadman from the Elimination Chamber, and just last week, Angle scrmabled The Undertakers brain with a steel chair. It promises to be a classic match, between two of the top superstars in the WWE today, both at the top of their game, and both desperate for glory.

***

I'll post Smackdown in a few days ... probably Tuesday.

Default Re: Being The Booker

Cena promo was good, I was wondering if he was going to quit for a moment but really he couldn't do such a thing. Bischoff on par as usual and HUGE match made for right now! Whoa, huge way to kick the show off, but I can't see Cena losing tbh

And he does win, just as I expected, but the table spot was great and I marked for it. Never see that on weekly shows anymore, good stuff. Cena winning with a rollup doesn't make Lesnar look too weak either which is wise because the man did just go coast to coast in the Rumble match and needs a big match for Mania

Bischoff standing up to the McMahon's was a little surprising as he usually just goes along with what they say, but obviously, no one was happy to hear the news and Cena/Triple H should be a good match and hopefully Cena DOESN'T win the title

@ MNM no showing their match. Cowards. Straight Edge will get their revenge, no doubt

LOL The Brotherhood staunched by Trips. Funny. Lesnar is a machine and would likely fuck HHH up. Solid confrontation here, possibility of a feud between these two heading into Mania seems likely although you can't rule out Cena from making it a triple threat

Umaga in MITB? Ugh. I know you mark for the man, but I just cannot picture him in a ladder match, what kind of ladder could support the fat fucker anyways? Aslong as he doesn't win it I guess I'll let it slide because I heart you so much, but really, he doesn't fit in a ladder match imo

FUCK! Orton takes a huge bump spot and then HBK follows him off the stage. This show has had it all, someone goes through a table, people going off the stage. Awesome stuff. HBK beating Orton is good but I wonder what we'll see from these two after the Superbrawl match leading into Mania. Either way shall be interesting but another quality match here tonight

Foley playing this kind of heel is refreshing and I hope he finally does show up on RAW next week, he's really dragging this out with Shawn. I guess this is what HBK will be involved in at Mania now, it's gotta happen

Kennedy owns Smith. All for that. Don't jesus push him plz

Standard run of the mill stuff from Cena there, blah blah blah but he's not winning, I hope he isn't anyways

3 big names for the Superbrawl match and I wonder who SmackDown! will throw into it. I can see Lesnar winning it so he can get a title shot, but I wouldn't count out Orton. HBK won't be winning tho as Foley will likely cost him the match. Oh and Bischoff overkill ftw tonight, what's that like the 4th time he's featured in a segment?

Melina as champ can get boring, TRISH PLZ. Nah lol, but I'd like to see Laree take the strap soon. MNM get owned and it's always nice to see the faces standing tall, neither of these feuds are over it seems

Summerslam in the UK? Cool

I KNEW IT! Tomko finally turns on Christian, and my god it's been coming. I've been waiting for this for so long and it finally happened, Tomko was the only thing holding Christian down from becoming the main player he should be, and now after Christian buries him at Superbrawl I can see a big match for him at Mania

Good work as always Wolf, bar Umaga in MITB and the Bischoff overkill. You own

Default Re: Being The Booker

Sorry I've been completely AWOL from feedbacking this past month ; I'm going to try and hop right back on the wagon now for obvious reasons, and as good a place as any to start.

---

Quite the show lined up for Raw tonight, what with the plethora of championship matches, Umaga's inevitable ascension to the MITB match, and the feud-ender between Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels. Anyone would think we're heading for WrestleMania, the way you're stacking these cards

"Big challenge for the littlest big man tonight J.R, but listen to the response for The Coach!!! They love me in England."

I've been really enjoying the increased interaction you've been having between the broadcasters since you came back. You did it in fits and starts previously, but it seems like you've decided to really give J.R and especially Coach a much more vocal part in the show. In terms of entertainment, I have to say that one of the things that always used to entertain me personally in the WWF/E and wrestling as a whole, was the heel commentator, as they can be hilarious when done right. That's partly why most Raw's, SD's, ECW's, iMPACT's, ROH shows etc. are not the 'must see' for the commentary. If anything, it takes away from the action. So, yeah, kudos for your work on Coach & J.R. Keep it up.

"hell, I love England "

It's definitely a two-horse race between yourself and KOP for whose character representation of Cena is the most accurate to his current WWE persona. Honestly, you seem to have him down to a tee. You get guys like myself and Mac who are fans of his edgier, more brash side, and I think that works too (though it is quite a dangerous territory, considering how long it's been since Cena had an edge to his character), but what you've managed to do is find your groove with this Cena persona, the one I like to call the "Safe Persona" and you've ran with it. Successfully. Very successfully. In the past I've moaned a bit about you're Cena character, due to him not having any realy edge, bordering on boring and stale, and I was all set to do that in this review, until I read over it again and realised just what Cena has become in your thread. For a fan of fiction like myself, I should've spotted it long ago, but Cena is the White Knight, the Hero of this journey, and to give him edge would thus turn him into an anti-hero, which you already have in the shape of Captain Charisma (no one that cocky can be just a hero). Therefore (and pat yourself on the back for this) you've turned me into a believer with your Cena, and a perfect example of how is with this last little speech:

"This here … is my WWE contract. And I’m willin to take this contract and tear it up, and walk away … not only from Raw … but from the WWE altogether, in exchange for one more shot. One more chance at facing Triple H, for the World Heavyweight Championship. If I win, I prove that I really am better … and if I lose … I’m gone … no questions asked."

So, it's the 'Last Chance Saloon' for Cena come SuperBrawl (or at least that's what I thought at this point). It's such a great stipulation the 'Last Chance' one, but only when it's used on faces I think, as why would anyone care about a heel never getting a title match again? Bischoff's been a muted of late due to the air time the McMahon Family Empire obviously need to get every week, and with three of the members of that stable effectively Eric's boss, you can understand him taking a bit of a backseat. I'm very surprised by Bischoff's complete 360 on Cena's proposal, but I suppose just handing him a title shot against big bad Triple H wouldn't do the heels any favours. But, if Easy was so set against Cena even having a title match, why didn't he just say no? I'd guess that it's because he gambled that Lesnar would destroy Cena, and, of course, the allure of getting the chance to fire Cena as soon as possible must be hard to resist. However, the mere fact that you're giving us Cena/Lesnar now most certainly erases the possibility of that match taking place at WrestleMania, which I have to say is pretty surprising considering the apparent set up you ran with on last week's show.

Certainly an incredible opening match up that really did just come out of the blue, and is a match that I know I've wanted to see happen in this thread ever since Backlash of last year when these two hooked it up in a Triple Threat match. It's a shame that we won't get to read a full, grander version of this contest at WrestleMania now, as it could've been like the awesome Cena/Batista contest from SummerSlam last year but x10 if you catch my drift, especially with the kind of explosive recap you gave it here, with the two bulls hitting each other with every power move in their arsenal. Cena takes a beating going through the announce table (awesome to see a spot like that on free TV), but still mounts a comeback to pick up a stunning victory out of nowhere with the roll up. Now, talk about flipping what I thought were your WrestleMania plans on their head. Fantastic stuff. With Lesnar/Cena now seemingly out of the question, that only leaves one option for Cena and that is to put the strap on him at SuperBrawl and have him face Christian in a huge face/face match at WrestleMania, thereby continuing the growing tension between Triple H and Brock Lesnar by throwing them into a feud of their own for WrestleMania. Believe me, I love all of the matches that are coming out of this, but I still think, for closures sake, at some point, be it Backlash or later down the line, Christian is going to have to continue his feud with the McMahon Family Empire. After all, they did rob him of the belt months ago, they did try to take away any chance he had of ever getting it back, and they did place an enormous bounty on his head in the Royal Rumble match. It wouldn't make sense just to toss all that aside. Also, I'm a little uncomfortable with the thought that either Cena will be getting a pultry one-month reign with the belt from PPV to PPV, or that the winner of the Royal Rumble match won't be winning the strap. Like I said though, hell of an opening.

"This has not been an ideal night for the McMahon Family Empire so far … and they still haven’t even arrived!!!"

I love these kind of set ups for the show. Kind of reminds me of the old Corporation days. Loved this short parking lot segment between Bischoff and The McMahon's; nice to see Easy E actually growing a set and standing up for himself, eh?

"Brock Lesnar?? And Lesnar lost?? Wow, that’s convenient. What a god damn surprise. It wouldn’t surprise me Eric if Lesnar just lay down for him. Vince, you know Lesnar has it in for me dammit. He didn’t give a crap about winning tonight. You knew that too Eric. And trust me Bischoff … I’m gonna deal with you later, but I want to know where the hell big bad Brock is??"

Oh, baby, and those two are tag team partners tonight? I'm just waiting with baited breath for the shit to well and truly hit the fan between those two, and it should be epic when it happens. I'm just wondering whether Lesnar will remain in this kind of tweenerish role (which I think he works best as) or will go full-fledged face (which I very much doubt).

Brilliant move to postpone the tag team championship match, showing the complete cowardice of the champions and just continuing the hunt of the babyface challengers. However, in order avoid making MNM look like complete jokes and StraightEdge's bitches when they finally meet, I actually think you should let MNM go over at least once before Helms & Punk get the inevitable win (at Wrestlemania???). Also, Coach was once again GOLD here:

"Y’know, to be honest J.R … I’m starting to feel a little queasy here myself. You know that England isn’t the most hygienic country in the world. I saw Nitro and Mercury eating eggs earlier, I bet it was those."

I think you already know what I'm going to say about this next segment, but seriously, if you can keep going at this rate with this wonderful storyline between Triple H and Brock Lesnar, you'll get no complaints from me should you decide to go with the Lesnar/Hunter & Christian/Cena route. "You name the time, you tell me the place … I’ll be there." Uh, WrestleMania good for you, Brock? I don't think these two will implode tonight or any time before SuperBrawl, but I can see them imploding at SuperBrawl via Lesnar getting involved in the championship match and somehow costing Trips the title. It's probably going to be my favourite feud leading up to 'Mania, seeing as you wont write SD in full

Wow, you really like Umaga, don't you? Stating the obvious there, but a resounding victory over the Intercontinental Champion, a man who has had World title matches in the past, in barely five minutes, is really something to write home about. It basically confirms that you have no time for 'Mags in the Intercontinental division, and he's on his way to the big leagues. It'll be interesting to see hwo he does in the MITB Ladder match. Ignore Reney; I think it's a fantastic move, one I've thought about a few times myself actually. If a guy can fly, flip and everything else off the top rope, he should have no problem climbing a ladder. Hell, even THE BIG SHOW's been in a ladder match, and he's a tad larger than 'Maga. He might be the only one in it for now, but until Y2J is confirmed as a participant, Umaga's my pick to win it.

Another great, main event, PPV worthy match up between Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton, although I wasn't too keen on the treatment of The New Wave. They've essentially become the Hawkins & Ryder of this thread as the pose no threat whatsoever to anyone and continue to get laid out by Orton's foes. Speaking of Randall, he didn't cover himself in glory either, but I guess since he'll probably only be competing in the MITB Ladder match at 'Mania (after his comments last week) and HBK will be going at it with Mick Foley in one of the main event feuds, Shawny needed it a little more.

"But first off, let me just say … it’s great to be back … RIGHT HERE … in WWE studios, in Stamford, Connecticut."

Mick Foley OWNS as a heel. He really does. The man is probably the most unique an entertaining mic worker of all time, so the run into 'Mania from this guy is going to be something special. Should be interesting to hear what he has to say next week, though I can see him swerving us once again, delaying the reveal of his master plan a little longer.

KENNEDY~ I think you know I love this guy. I'm enjoying his new serious side, and who can blame him after spending the latter half of 2006 floundering in mid-card mediocrity. With that emphatic victory over DH Smith and the destruction of his microphone, Kennedy has done an almost complete spin on his face persona of a year ago. He could be a possibility for the MITB match, as I can't see what else there is for him, and he needs something like the MITB briefcase to really propel him into the main event, whereas someone like Randy Orton (or even Chris Jericho) doesn't.

Short but sweet, effective and oh so fiery promo from John Cena doing what he does best: hyping the match:

"But Todd … this time, I WONT fail, I WONT be stopped, I REFUSE to get screwed over this time. Triple H is gonna get hit with a freight train come Superbrawl … a freight train that goes by the name JOHN FREAKIN CENA!!!"

Triple H is going to need to some serious damage to Cena next week (there's only two weeks until SuperBrawl right?) if he wants to come out of this thing with any credibility. I mean, he's been running scared of Cena for months now, and if the next PPV is the be his last hoorah as champion, then I think he needs to make a big impression next week to make us remember him.

The Super Brawl does sound awesome. It's almost serving the same kind of purpose that the Elimination Chamber did at last year's No Way Out. I've already solved the problem you had with the First Blood fall, so just switch it around and it's all fine and dandy. This ain't no throwaway match either, with three former World Champions representing Raw. They could all win, since Lesnar could use it to face Triple H, Orton to enter MITB, and Michaels to take on Foley. I still think I know who's winning it and he ain't on Raw. Then again, I'm usually wrong.

The Women's Match really acted as nothing but a vehicle to further the World Tag Team feud, which is a bit harsh on Melina and Laree I think, especially since I thought you were building Alexis up for a run at the title at WrestleMania. Oh, and MNM absolutely have to win the first proper match they have with StraightEdge, as they've just been OWNED in this feud so far.

Glorious, GLORIOUS news that SummerSlam is coming to the Motherland. I might pay a visit

I'm really glad that Hunter is 'manning up' somewhat by challenging Cena to any stipulation he wants at SuperBrawl, which works as it will be the match to end their lengthy feud I suppose. But what will the match be? Both men excel in gimmick matches, so Hell in a Cell? Last Man Standing? "I Quit"? Either way, it should be immense.

Seven matches on the card tonight? Bit risky. Crazy main event though. There was me thinking that the Triple H-Brock Lesnar situation would be the focal point and you completely caught me by surprise with Tomko creaming Christian and stabbing the Instant Classic in the back. I said a few weeks ago that it would be a smart move to have Tomko betray Christian for the economic gain of the McMahon Family Empire, but I'd almost thought you'd missed the boat with it. Very well played, sir. You dodged us all. I think you could've gone into a little more detail with the climatic assault, maybe emphasising the emotion of the moment, seeing as this is Christian's best friend turning on him and trying to end his career, but that's probably just me being fussy. Still, I hope Tomko sticks around as the enforcer for the MFE, since anyone who watche TNA last year knows that he is actually a very good character in this kind of role. I imagine he will square off against CC at SuperBrawl now in order to give Christian some momentum leading up to 'Mania, but like I said, don't dismiss Tyson as a jobber. He can really go.

---

Just a few comments on the Sky Sports Special thing you posted last night: you caught me by surprise with the announcement of the Sixty-Minute Iron Man Match between Triple H and Cena at SuperBrawl, but it actually makes quite a lot of sense, with Cena's desire to prove himself as the best in the wrestling business against the best in the wrestling business. Looks like not much else will be added to the SuperBrawl card as a result though, which is fine, as it's heavily stacked already.

SmackDown looks sick too, with MVP probably making it into the MITB match at WrestleMania since both Batista and Lashley will probably culminate their U.S title program with Brent 'GREATNESS' Albright. The main event looks sexual too, but aren't both Angle and Jericho heels???

I hope this review was up to your extremely high standards, because the stuff you've been writing deserves only the best. The most enjoyable run of reading I've had in BTB for a long time. Keep up the brilliance.

I liked the concept of the Sky Sports Network special as you said and it's always fun to see WWE run a special like this one off thing and I remember WWE did an WWE vs. ECW thing like this a few years ago but other than that they normally don't really do these specials anymore. Cena playing a big role in this show helped a lot as it hyped the WHC match even more than it already was and I feel like everything else went down well on the show. It's not much you can say about it but it worked well to the point that it was supposed to be used.

I told you yesterday that I would review a show but I think I'm going to just hold out until Smackdown because I reviewed Raw last I think and haven't reviewed a Smackdown in a while so I'll probably review Smackdown then and who knows, might even throw a Raw review up for you as well.

Raw Review:

Huge card for tonight’s show, gonna be off the charts. Just one quick question, judging by one of J.R’s first line about MITB, are there going to be 8-men in MITB this year? You said “four Raw superstars”. Just wondering.

Cena starting the show doesn’t surprise me one bit, as it was obvious ever since the Rumble that he would do anything for another shot at the belt. Cena willing to risk his career in the WWE to get another chance at Trips? That’s ballsy, imo. Bischoff comes out and pretty much tells it like it is, Cena has been complaining too much so he will give him one final chance. CENA VS. LESNAR~! Damn, this was for sure going to be a WM23 match, and now we get it on free TV! This should be an epic!

Lesnar wrestling now makes me wonder what will happen to the main event, as he surely won’t be happy wrestling twice. Just a phenomenal contest between these two, as Cena has everything to lose, and that’s how the story was told. I thought Lesnar had the win after that F-5, but Cena just barely got out of the pin. Lesnar came off looking pretty strong, but it was rather obvious that Cena was going to get the win. Great way to start the show, and now I can’t wait to see the MFE’s reaction to what just happened.

I liked that Bischoff told them what happened as soon as they got here, but the unrest between Hunter and Lesnar was the real story. Hopefully we get some more interaction between them tonight, as their story has been great. Bischoff maybe on the outs? We’ll just wait and see.

Damn, that was an interesting way for MNM to get out of the match. Glad you didn’t go with the obvious choice and just have them get DQ’d. That may happen next week, imo. Straight Edge are going to have to wait until WM23 to get a real shot, imo, and that’s when they are going to get the belts.

Damn, yet another twist that could lead to Lesnar/Hunter down the line, possibly at WM23. They will probably not get along during the main event, but I am more interested to see what happens in the coming weeks. You’re really throwing me off guard with all these possible matches for WM23.

Umaga just destroyed Rey in that match and now he is the first man heading to MITB. Not really shocked to see this, as I know his streak will end against someone HUGE. Rey will maybe be defending the belt at ‘Mania, so he will get back to winning soon. A dominating win over a big name is just what Umaga needed, and now we get his preparation heading into his biggest match yet.

Damn, that was an awesome match between HBK and Orton. I loved the backstage stuff with the New Wave attacking Michaels, only for him to dispose of all three of them. Both men left nothing behind, as they head back out onto the stage, with Orton going for the RKO, but HBK ends up hitting SCM!! Great way to end the match, with Michaels hitting the Diving Elbow off the stage and getting the win. This feud is FINALLY over. FOLEY~! Next week should be good, as we will finally hear from the man that has screwed HBK twice over the past few months. Can’t wait for that.

Kennedy is finally taking this serious, and that should continue tonight when he destroys DH Smith. Plz continue this KK push right into the MITB match at WM23.

As expected, KK gets the win easily against the hugely overmatches DH. Good way for him to come off as “crazy”, but I’m not so sure about what happened after the match. No telling us his name? No old-school mic. Unless you are completely changing his gimmick, I am going to be very upset about losing those trademarks.

Pretty predictable interview from John Cena, as he talks about getting his final chance and then going to WrestleMania as the Champion. I still don’t see Cena winning, but I am glad that he is back to being his usual self after earning the title shot.

Very good choices for the three Raw superstars in the Super Brawl. The rules are pretty innovative, as it gives us something unique to look forward to. Lesnar and Orton won’t be winning it, which is why Shawn Michaels is my pick from Raw, so that he finally gets his shot at Foley.

Cool way for the Women’s Title match to go, with Laree trying so hard to win but MNM come down to help Melina, helping her retain her title. Glad to see Straight Edge and Laree get the last laugh, as all three hit their finishers on MNM’s three members. Next week is going to be a good match, but it won’t be ending cleanly, imo.

Wow, that “Summer Tour” is a great idea, and Wembley gets SummerSlam! That should be amazing.

Damn, Hunter must really have all the confidence in the world, as he not only says that he is coming to SuperBrawl ALONE, he lets Cena pick the stipulation. That should be a huge announcement on Wednesday, so that’s reason to read the show. Glad that The Game is showing so much confidence, that’s necessary before WM23.

Pretty sure that was the right call with the short main event, as the show has already been action-packed. Just as I thought, Lesnar and Hunter don’t get along, but then a huge SWERVE … AS TOMKO ATTACKS CHRISTIAN!! The referee throws the contest out but Tomko joins the MFE! Even more going against Christian now, as he has lost his one true ally. Tomko gets in the hammer shot, and now we get Hunter lining CC up, but Cena saves him! Perfect way for the show to end, as now it looks to be even more stacked in Hunter’s favor.

Sky Sports Special Review:

Wow, I completely forgot about the IronMan match. Cena and the Game should have quite the end to their feud, with the better man clearly coming out the winner. Cena going against Finlay should give him so more build, but that stipulation for SB is huge.

Good card, as the main event should be a great tag team contest.

Good win for Chavo, but I really don’t think that he is going to beat Kash. If anyone is going to do that, I think you are building up Kendrick to get the job done.

I guess the hospital stay is to keep CC from stealing the spotlight during the final week of build for HHH/Cena. SNME seems like the next time we will be seeing CC.

Cena wins, yay for the little kids!

Pretty good main event, as Jericho is able to be opportunistic when it comes to the legal man situation, taking Rey out after Rey and RVD took down KK with finishers. Jericho scores the huge win, getting some much needed momentum heading into SuperBrawl. I expect him and Jericho to get a little physical in the final two shows before SB.

Raw was spectacular and the Special did its job well. I loved what happened with Christian and Tomko, as it adds yet another layer to what is sure to be an awesome feud once it really gets rolling. Can’t wait for SD!.

Default Re: Being The Booker

Couple of queries to answer;
- Renegade: (Not sure if you meant Tomko or Christian having a big match at WM, but Christian is headlining WrestleMania; he won the Royal Rumble.

- Ledge: SD main event is a heel vs heel contest, although Jericho is currently in borderline tweener terrirtory since his run ins with Edge leading up to the Rumble.

- Patman: Yep, 8 Man MITB ladder match this time around. As for the Kennedy announcing himself, for the near future, it's gone, but eventually the gimmick will probably resurface. Just not until the ultra serious side of him has been put over.

And now, Smackdown...

Smackdown; January 26th; Sheffield:

Opening video.

Michael Cole & Tazz open the show, hyping tonight’s main event, with Kurt Angle taking on Chris Jericho, and then kick off this weeks Smackdown with a match of massive consequence, as the first of the four spots available for Smackdown in the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania is up for grabs.

Montel Vontavious Porter defeats Batista & Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match @ 10:46 to advance to the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania, pinning Batista after Lashley had nailed the Dominator, with MVP kicking Lashley out to steal the pin.

A quick VP airs, hyping the Super Brawl match at Superbrawl next weekend, explaining the rules, and also the stipulation that the winner gets to pick his own opponent at Wrestle Mania (bar a title match).

Backstage, Arn Anderson announces the three men to compete from the Smackdown roster in the Super Brawl … Kane … Kurt Angle … and The Undertaker!!!

Edge defeats William Regal @ 05:57 with a Spear, after facing a tough work out from Regal, Edge manages to pick up the clean win, ultimately having too much for his counterpart. Still furious after last weeks announcement that Chris Jericho will challenge RVD at SuperBrawl, Edge takes out his frustration on the British veteran, and even after getting the win, blasts a defenceless Regal with the Money in the Bank briefcase!!!

The Rated ‘R’ Superstar then gets on the mic, to address the fans, and air his views, unsurprisingly complaining about the title situation, explaining that he cashed in his Money in the Bank title shot nine weeks in advance to give himself preparation time to get himself ready to outclass RVD, but now, if Jericho wins, he only has six to get himself in 100% condition to do the same. Edge then continues, telling the fans that he is also angry that Jericho did nothing to deserve his shot, whilst he has been given nothing all year, because of his Money in the Bank briefcase. Further cementing his delusional reputation, he then claims that this is the work of the WWE higher ups, trying to keep Edge down at any cost … but no one will be able to keep him down much longer, not when it comes to WrestleMania. The fact is, Edge is going to be crowned Champion, and the world will learn to accept it.

Backstage, Lashley & Batista come face to face in the locker room. Batista offers his commiserations to Lashley, and the two shake hands, before Lashley mentions that had it been one on one, he would be offering congratulations instead, and that would’ve seen him leapfrog Batista in the line of challengers for Brent Albright. As if by magic, The United States Champion now enters the fray, and tells both men that he’s counted two losses in two weeks for both men - not the credentials required to get a shot at the most fighting U.S Champion of all time. It looks as if Batista & Lashley are now set to gang up on the cocky champion, but Albright quickly gets out of dodge, telling them that he was ‘just offering an unbiased opinion’.

In a filler tag match, The Mad Murdoch Twins defeat Cryme Tyme @ 04:01 with Trevor nailing the Deliverance (Canadian Destroyer) on JTG for the three count.

Backstage, Josh Matthews conducts an interview with the returning JEFF HARDY, joined by his brother, Matt. Jeff obviously says it’s great to be back ‘home’, and along with Matt is hoping for a Hardy Boys reunion, as they both feel they have unfinished business in the tag team division, before branching out alone to tackle the singles division. Matt agrees, and says it’s been great competing alone for the last few years, but it’s been too long since he and Jeff teamed up, and feels a little nostalgic … hinting at challenging for the tag team titles in the future.

Jeff Hardy defeats Chris Harris @ 07:24 via Swanton Bomb. Both men are joined by their respective ally at ringside, and Matt is forced to get involved as James Storm tries to help Harris. Matts save for Jeff turns the match in the Hardys favour, leading to Jeff winning on his return to singles competition.

We now hear from Rob Van Dam backstage, as Maria conducts an interview with the WWE Champion. Van Dam shows a much more composed figure, compared to Edge when asked about the championship picture. RVD claims that he has thrived on the competition throughout his title reign, and jokes that for once, at least the odds aren’t stacked against him, and he’ll go into Superbrawl without everyone writing him off for a change. Maria then asks what he thinks the difference is between him and Edge in their differing opinions to the title scene, Van Dam smiles, before replying that he’s confident that once the picture clears up he’ll still be the WWE Champion … and maybe Edge isn’t confident of the same thing.

Kid Kash defeats Chavo Guerrero @ 07:02 to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. As you’d expect, the two men put on a lovely short match, with a crazy, fast paced finishing sequence with half a dozen near falls in the space of two minutes. Kash though, cheats his way to a controversial win, reversing a roll up from Chavo, and holding onto the ropes for leverage to gain the win, and completely confirm his heel turn - as if it was in any doubt.

Backstage, Kurt Angle presents a highlights package on his attack on The Undertaker last week, where he left The Deadman laid out after two brutal chair shots. Angle talks himself up as a man that has done things to The Undertaker that have never been done before … the first to make him submit … and now the first to have made him look ordinary. Next … he wants to rid the WWE of The Undertaker altogether.

Now, before his tag team match up next, Carlito is interviewed by Josh Matthews, about his move to Friday Nights. Carlito talks about feeling new he has a new lease of life, now starting with a clean slate, admitting he felt jaded on Raw, and wasn’t able to shake off his 2006 losing streak. Carlito ends the interview saying it’s a new year, he’s on a new show, and it’s time for a fresh start, and a winning streak. And of course … das cool.

Kane & Carlito defeat Jamie Noble & Charlie Haas @ 06:14 in a short tag match to follow on from last weeks singles matches, with the faces winning again tonight, as Kane pins Haas with the Chokeslam to build some momentum for SuperBrawl.

1ST TIME WRESTLEMANIA MOMENT - X - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, WRESTLEMANIA STAGES A LADDER MATCH, BETWEEN SHAWN MICHAELS AND RAZOR RAMON, WITH THE TWO MEN MAKING HISTORY, SETTING THE BAR FOR FUTURE LADDER MATCHES, WHICH WOULD BECOME A REGULAR WRESTLEMANIA HAPPENING.

The VP then ends with the graphic for WRESTLEMANIA XXIII - MARCH 18TH 2007 - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN NEW ORLEANS.

Before the main event, matches for next weeks show are announced, as William Regal requests a rematch against Edge - this time No DQ, and in the next Money in the Bank qualifier, either one or two spots will be decided, as RVD teams up with his SuperBrawl challenger Chris Jericho to take on bitter foes, Kurt Angle & The Undertaker. If RVD & Y2J win, the loser of their match at SuperBrawl gets a MITB spot, and if Undertaker & Angle win, they will both feature in the MITB match at WrestleMania.

In the main event, Chris Jericho defeats Kurt Angle via DQ @ 18:32 when Edge attacks Chris Jericho. In an irregular heel vs. heel encounter, the two men put up a terrific encounter, with the fans loving every second of it, as Jericho appears to take on the role of the face, with he and Angle getting a chance to deliver against each other, a match which hasn’t been seen in a long time. Jericho successfully avoids the Ankle Lock of Angle, and manages to kick out of the Angle Slam, whilst Angle looks strong in kicking out of the Lionsault and the Breakdown!!! Jericho then finally applies the Walls of Jericho, with Angle struggling. We’ll never find out if he was set to tap though, thanks to Edge. Mister Money in the Bank gets the biggest heat of the evening as he sprints to the ring, AND BLASTS CHRIS JERICHO WITH THE MONEY IN THE BANK BRIEFCASE!!!

Edge makes no attempt to hide his interference from the referee, and pounds down the current #1 Contender, talking trash in the face of Y2J, yelling “YOU DIDN’T EARN YOUR SHOT!!!” over and over in the face of his enemy. Suddenly though as this happens … THE LIGHTS GO OUT!!! … the lights come back on … AND THE UNDERTAKER HAS APPEARED FROM UNDER THE RING!!! Edge slides out immediately … but Angle comes at Taker, only to get knocked down … then scooped up … AND TOMBSTONED!!!! The Undertaker gains revenge after last weeks brutal assault, sending a message to Angle that he wont go down without a fight, as the show goes off the air with Taker kneeling down, rolling his eyes back…

END OF SHOW

Default Re: Being The Booker

Wolfy I have always been a fan of you and your thread here is a review for SD

Should be a great main event between Angle and Jericho tonight.

MVP wins the MITB qualifying match over Lashley and Batista which is good because I dont see Batista or Lashley ( even though he was in WM 22 MITB) as ladder match guys. They should have other roles at Mania. I also see MVP as a serious threat to win the MITB match

Cool to see you brought SuperBrawl back, that gimmick main event is such a cool concept. The wwe should seriously steel it for like an annual thing at a ppv like the chamber. Should be a fun match. Angle, Kane, and Undertaker 3 great choices the best left that aren't already booked.

Great Match good win by Edge and I dont blame him for spapping typical Edge. Great stuff when the fuck is he cashing in that brief case, can't believe he still has it.

Well that explains the briefcase sounds like Edge to a tee, as a bitchy whiny heel. Great job can't wait to see what happens in the title situation.

Albrent what a bitch. Batista and Lashley should kill him hope to see a triple threat. I wanna see some tension between Batista and Lashley to, to make it even more appealing.

Wow way to bury Cryme Tyme. Nah just kidding but how did Murdoch do a canadian destroyer, if you are referring to the modified one he used before he was released then ok.

Great to see the Hardys are getting back together hopefully a tag title run although i would like to see them in the MITB match as well.

Jeff picks up the win. I wonder if there is anything behind matt helping him. Maybe Jeff getting mad saying he doesn't need his help. Maybe I am just reading to much into it?

Typical cocky almost high RVD. Seems he isn't worried but I would be facing Jericho and Edge could strike literally at any second.

Kid Kash wins good cruiserweight action I miss the cruiserweights but you do a great job not only having the belt but keeping it relevent.

Great stuff from Angle hope Taker comes out during his match tonight. The match at Superbrawl they are involved in can be a start of the feud and then maybe Angle will attempt to end the streak. ( maybe a career match? to get RID of him?)

Random pairing with Kane and lito but makes them both look strong especially Kane going into teh match at Superbrawl. How do you do it make Kane look credible as a face?

Cool banner great to see the Mania hype begining, sounds like a great show next week, just days before Superbrawl

This should be a great match but I cant see anyone winning cleanly... Oh i was right great match and way to go edge to ruin it. Nah great booking continuing the feuds and not giving to much away. Edge intesnse as fuck taking out Jericho, Jericho has gotta win and face Edge at Mania although Edge has the briefcase wtf will happen. Oh shit just when i thought it was done here's taker. LMAO edge runs even though Undertaker doesn't want him. Tombstone baby good night angle great way to end a great show.

Man great stuff even in review form it was amazing can't wait for superbrawl. I hope you dont make anymore matches cause the iron man, plus the title match, and the Superbrawl match is like 5 in one so thats why. I will give my SB predictions next sd, cant wait for raw ill be reading

Default Re: Being The Booker

Smackdown! Review:

Jericho vs. Angle should be a very sexeh main event, as the rest of the card will probably just be moving us towards SB.

I never thought that Lashley or Batista would work in the MITB, so it was quite obvious that MVP was going to pick up the win. I am very surprised that Batista took the fall, as I viewed him as being above Lashley in this thread, even after what happened at the Rumble. Anyway, Batista and Bobby will both probably move towards the US Title, so MVP being in MITB should be interesting, good call.

I figured that Angle and ‘Taker would be in the Super Brawl, but I was kinda surprised about Kane, tbh. No way he’s winning it, but good way to get him on the card.

Damn, you still make William Regal look like the jobber who is only used to get people over. But this was a perfect way for Edge to let out even MORE frustration, taking it to Regal and getting the win, and then blasting him with MITB after the match. Good way to continue to pick up the heat. Good little promo for him after the match, talking about being screwed numerous times by the company, and he has a reason to be upset. I know that all this hype building to Edge being Champion has to come true, and when it does, this thread will reach another level of awesomeness.

Just like I said earlier, it sounds like both Batista and Lashley are going to be the next challengers for the US Title. Albright will be able to run for a little while, but he will eventually need to defend the Belt against both men, which is when he will lose it, imo.

I guess both teams don’t mean that much to you, as this only got two sentences. No comment on the winner.

Obviously Matt and Jeff are going to be challenging for the WWE Tag Team Titles, and they are going to do it at WM23. Should be a good way for Jeff to get back on the map tonight, by taking on one half of the Champions.

Just as I figured, both tag team partners are at ringside for this contest but it is the Hardyz that finally get some retribution on AMW, picking up the win. I think this could be a very good tag team contest once it really gets rolling, as these four men have the talent to put on one hell of a contest.

Good way to get RVD’s face on the show, as he is pretty much in two feuds at the moment. He’s just as cool and calm as we come to expect, but I think that might change after Edge beats him down a few times before WM23.

Didn’t expect anything less from two great wrestlers like Kash and Chavo, as this was a good way to get Kid over as Champion, beating a very respectable challenger. Hopefully this was Chavito’s only shot, as I would love to see BK get the next shot at the Champ.

Those are some pretty strong words from Kurt Angle, as it is pretty much all but confirmed that he and ‘Taker are on a collision course for WM23. Hopefully we get to see more of the Angle we just saw, because he reminds me of the Angle we saw before WM22, probably some of your best character writing, imo.

Carlito will probably be taking part in MITB this year, as you seem to want to build him back up. Good win for him and Kane, as they both build momentum, and it was also good to see Kane look strong heading into the Super Brawl.

Solid card for next week, as I think Edge will be putting Regal on the shelf with that No DQ stipulation. Pretty interesting Main Event, but I think the winner will be RVD/Jericho because there’s no way that ‘Taker and Angle are going to MITB. They need to wrestle each other at WM23!!!

A very hectic main event to end the show, but I was glad that Jericho and Angle got some great time to wrestle each other. Good that Jericho isn’t a full-blown heel, as I think he will be going to MITB as a face. Edge coming down doesn’t surprise me in the slightest, as he takes down Y2J and yells more about him not earning his shot. ‘TAKER~! Edge gets out of dodge but the Deadman scoops up Angle and drops him with the Tombstone! Kinda predictable ending, as we hadn’t seen UT all show, but it was good to see him gain from revenge on Kurt.

A pretty good recap, but I am still looking forward to seeing this show come back into full, as the storylines leading into ‘Mania are going to be epic. Keep up the phenomenal work!

Raw Feedback

John Cena still a bit upset really did surprise me I understand that he did not get his title shot and all that but I just expected him to come out a fresh start in England and be the normal John Cena again. He was in character for what you have him doing at the moment and him putting his contract on the line adds a nice twist to everything. I was really happy to see that Bischoff interrupted Cena and not Vince McMahon because sometimes I feel as if you under use Bischoff due to having the McMahon’s on Raw. Big way to start the night Wolfy, we’re going to get Cena/Lesnar and well I don’t know if I misread or didn’t pick up on something but WHEN not if but WHEN Cena wins this opener is his contract still on the line at Super Brawl?

I knew all along that Cena was going to get the win and get one more shot at Triple H it just felt right. However I have noticed that as of late every time Lesnar gets close to proving he is worthy of a title shot something bad happens and that is a bit disappointing. Anyway this match sounded pretty EPIC and so far Raw has been awesome… again. I also have to give you props for your commentary I hate writing commentators but you do it exceptionally well.

The McMahon’s and Triple H did not seem very happy with Bischoff’s decision. However regarding Bischoff he was very weird here perhaps even contradicting himself a little bit because he went to tell Vince about what happened and to try and smooth things over but a breath later he is telling the family about how he does not care anymore and wont be walked over. I don’t know where this will go from here however I hope you are throwing a swerve because I really don’t want to see a face Bischoff.

Match being postponed was hilarious, I was not disappointed because I believed the match was not ready to happen yet anyway. Hopefully it’s a dirty finish next week leading to a great build to what will eventually be an awesome tag team match.

Dramas between Triple H and Lesnar are good I just really love the whole main event upper card scene at Raw at the moment. Lesnar as this killer tweener is sick but I hope you don’t make him turn on Triple H yet. Lesnar needs to be tweener for a long time still.

Umaga is this much better (…………………) then Rey Mysterio Some people may not like Umaga in the main event because he is a big man but I think he is athletic enough to make it work. Better yet who cares just have him Spike everyone and slowly climb the ladder

Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton clash for like the thirtieth time this month LOL but I don’t know since there has not really been a clean winner I still find their matches exciting. I liked how you had Shawn take out New Wave however him then getting the win makes Orton seem way to soft. I don’t like Orton looking so weak at the moment and I hope something big happens regarding him and Mania other wise he could be a major waste.

Foley short and sweet and I love the way you are keeping the loveable ness of Foley going with the thumbs up and waving but he is doing whatever to get cheap heat instead of cheap pops. I love it

I still feel kind of weird having Mr Kennedy no longer using his catch phrase however I am intrigued to see where you go with his character. He better… BETTER… go over DH Smith.

Aftermath with Kennedy was nice to with him ripping his mic away and so forth.

Cena backstage interview was nice you seem to do Cena well and not make him boring. I think Lesnar/Cena at Mania is going to rule. LOL I jumped on the band wagon

I Love Eric Bischoff and I love you more as this match at Super Brawl is going to be off the hook. Michaels/Orton and Lesnar in the one ring reaks of EPICness and I can not wait to see how it turns out.

Melina retains the title and I loved the miraculous recovery however I guess MNM got theres in the end. I continue to love your main tag feud right now.

Summerslam…. LOL time flies…

Triple H mic time was nice he seemed very intense I must say and him and Christian is going to be so good. Main event was extremely short, seven matches is pushing it by the way and Tomko turning was a freaky yet nice hook. Was totally unexpected but I guess you had to do something to spice things up. Aftermath was great with the typical beat down, nice save by Cena but this was all great.

Overall Wolfy another good Raw. You continue to impress me with your greatness, I will have a review for Smackdown done one day LOL I got to get to other people first… Sorry

Backlash's SmackDown Review
Opening at the announce table, pretty good start empicating Jericho vs. Angle whhich I have never seen before, should be grand, mate. I am looking forword to the MITB Ladder Match already!

MVP beats the two largest bulls on SmackDown in a Triple Threat? Why would you have this happen? I mean MVP couldn't and wouldn't go over the two, look at the size of them! And it was a Kind of HH/Orton/Cena finish at the end, sorry to say.

Don't know what "VP" stands for but good, a promo for a very Interesting match up.

Hee-UGE ANNOUNCEMENT for 'SuperBrawl' having the deadman go in the match, with a gold medelist along with a Big Red Machine.

Heel vs. Heel in a match showing lot's of out of no where violence in a not really good match up I would think, Edge gets on the mic and speekes out against the fan and pumps up it seems like for his match.

Lashley and Batista losing 2 weeks in a row? Damn, that isn't nice. I liked how this may set up a SuperBrawl Triple threat or Handicap match next week.

If I may say so this is an upset that WNWC beat Cryme Tyme, Kind of short match.

Hardyz like eachother in this thread which is great, always love interviews!

Started watching in 07 so am not sure who Chris Harris is but glad to see Hardy win in this situation of return.

RVD is the WWE Champion which is a good twist as I like him a lot, Liked the interview had some high points, Love the downgrading of his opponent, totally RVD style.

Kid Kash, not sure who that is either because like I said, started watching in 2007 so... but I like how Chavo isn't our champion and loved the ending of this match!

Angle does the Super Heel thing...Trashes Taker and brags about it, like the possible encounter.

Carlito is now on SmackDown which I like because he was most likely miss useed on Raw.

Kane teams with Carlito in an Odd Coupling, get the win though and Carlito is happy which I am glad you are utilizing him correctly.

WM banner owns!

Good announcement adding a huge main event next week that will shake things up with the added stipulations.

Chris Jericho wins as I expected, loved the finish of How Edge attacked him and everything, gives momentum heading into SB. Undertaker comes out and I loved it, giving many momentum gifts into the PPV.
