Re: Being The Booker
It's been awhile, and I am sorry that you feel the way you do, and honestly, I don't blame you. If one of my idols in the wrestling business like Edge or Taker died, and they did some murder-suicide thing like what they say Benoit did, then I wouldn't be able to accept it either.
Now, as for this BTB, I think you should continue on in this BTB, and have Benoit run his course until in your BTB time, the day he dies comes. Then you should discontinue him, but until June 25th, 2007 in BTB time, keep Benoit going and doing his course, have a tribute show for him after his death, and then try to continue on in BTB afterwrads. That's all I can realy say.
Sorry man

Re: Being The Booker
Err.. what can I say? I was stunned as well but there's really nothing you can do about it. Don't get all beat down on this. I was walking around school going about with this in my head the whole time even though I'm not a Benoit fan. People noticed my new attitude and asked why. The worst thing was I had to keep it bottled in because they are wrestling haters. I reckon if he had died normally, people would have been able to get over it more. I'm really sorry for how you feel.
The Thread. Just do what you want man. I wouldn't force you to continue as much as I enjoy your thread. You've been a real inspiration to me and my booking and I am sure many others as well so feel proud for that. You are a pioneering booker.
Really sorry again

Re: Being The Booker
I know how you feel, I had trouble accepting it too as Benoit was my favorite and wrestling idol. I am still shocked and hard finding a way to see through it. Hopefully it will pass so you can write this awesome BTB again.

Re: Being The Booker
Wolfy, I think you should do what YOU feel is best. If you want to stop using him straight away, do so. If you feel he should run his course to the 25th of June date and then have him go, do that.
Take the time needed to get over such a loss as I know how much you idolize him and Finlay and it must hurt you alot growing up on the guy during his WCW and WWE days.

Re: Being The Booker
Well, right now, I'm still unsure of what to do. I'm left with quite a few options, each has positives and negatives.
1) Continue on with Chris Benoit up until his passing. Right now, that just doesnt seem like an option. For me it'd be extremely difficult to continue on with the character, even in BTB.
2) Skip ahead a full year, to avoid any further use of Benoit. But, there is a whole hell of a lot of things I'd like to get done in the plans for 2006.
3) Write Benoit out early, and continue on from there making an explanation for him leaving.
4) Stop booking entirely. In all seriousness, this is actually my most likely option right now. I've been completely turned off from watching wrestling - a passion which was slowly dwindling anyway - since this latest in a long line of tragedys.
I'm not really looking for opinions, or further suggestions, I'm just letting any interested readers aware of the current situation.
Also, I've decided to step down as a moderator. This was something I've been planning for a while, and I just felt the time was right. I've given five possible candidates to take over (if it's deemed by the powers that be any replacement is needed), three of them are aware I've put their names forward for the job. I would expect the change to happen within a day or two.

Do whatever your heart tells you. I don't think anyone would blame you at all if you left entirely as you have given so much to BTB anyway. It's all up to you.

Re: Being The Booker
I honestly don't think you should quit booking just because of Benoit's death, I don't want to sound rude but I think you can continue if you write him out, maybe an I Quit match or something, Benoit was one of my faves too, I hope you don't quit booking because of this unless you were going to quit anyway, I wasn't around a lot whilst you were mod but the time I was here you did a superb job, both you and The Showstopper keep this section in order.

Re: Being The Booker
Wolf, you've proven to be the best booker around and whatever decision you make I'm sure for it's own reasons will be the right one.
Personally, I would love for you to continue to book because you have the whole BTB forum still reading your shows weekly despite the fact you don't give out reviews in return, simply because you've done it all and earned that right. If you left, it'd leave a big hole in this section.
Maybe just take some time off to get over Benoit's death and then come back later when you feel up to writing again.

Re: Being The Booker
If you give up booking, I might cry. We are all confused about the Benoit situation, but I know it is even worse to someone like you idolized him.
I have some thoughts on Raw, and I see I am thoroughly confused seeing as I have not read since Backlash. I see Orton and Cena are still in the title picture, and Christian is still champion. I like that, but having Cena be the special referee means that you have a strong roster if you can carry on without a huge star. John Cena delivered a strong promo with Randy Orton. Mick Foley on Raw was awesome at first, but I am starting to wonder what will happen in subsequent weeks.
Finlay vs. Shelton Benjamin will be a clash of styles to say the least. I hope Benjamin remains champion, but Finlay is about the strongest competitor that Benjamin can have right now. I see that you have debuted Hornswoggle. Carlito as a face is strange to me as he has been a hardcore heel for a long time.
I really like the Mr. Kennedy ... Kennedy vs. Edge feud. Kennedy had a great interview with Kelly Kelly. The assualt pre match sets up a good looking match for Unforgiven, but this looks like the kind of feud that warrants a gimmick match.
Rey Mysterio and Brock Lesnar feud is interesting in the sense that Lesnar dominates Mysterio, Mysterio wins, and Lesnar attacks him viciously. I think Rey can win at Unforgiven though. Lesnar has gone downhill on Raw.
Armando Alejandro Estrada on Raw is a mark out moment!
You have some really good developments on Raw currently, and I can only hope that you continue this immortal thread.

Re: Being The Booker
Wolf the answer is simple mate; do what's best for you. I too was an avid Benoit fan, I considered him an idol, but even I can see that you obviously had an even greater love for him. If the stress of booking is too much, and you simply don't want to/can't continue, then don't. However, what I suggest is that maybe you take a month or so off to get away from all things wrestling for a while. Deal with the issues you are facing, take a rest, and if you still feel the same way about booking, then stop. If you feel rejuvanised, which I hope you will, then continue to amaze readers from all over this forum. Like I said do what you feel is right, and either way, you won't be forgotten mate.
