Re: Being The Booker

Good way to start the show with the best built "feud" of the moment. Angle had some great one liners and was just about managing to stay a face during the promo. However the last few weeks have hinted at a possible heel turn which would be fantastic as Kurt is a far better heel than a face. Hart's Legend qualifying announcement is interesting and adds to an already loaded Royal Rumble card.

Decent Tag Qualifying match with the System Success coming out on top. The interview they had later on was entertaining and could be a subtle hint at a break up between the two.

Expected the Lesner victory but Hardy came off pretty strong. I hope Lesner retains at the Rumble as a monster heel champion always provides for entertainment and there is no better monster heel than Lesner.

After another hint at a Kurt Angle heel turn, Maven picks up the impressive win. He has been somewhat pushed in the last few weeks and could become a decent mid card heel for Smackdown. The realism was good with Holly beating down on a rookie like he always seems to do.

Sensational Promo between The Rock, HHH, The Cabinet and Benoit which hints at a number of potential feuds. The Rock dominated on the mic like he always does but Benoit came off entertaining and even managed some great put downs. The constant mentioning of his failures at the big time suggest to me that Benoit will win the Rumble.

Snitsky beats the Smackdown Jobber Scotty with ease and advances towards the Rumble. I expect a fairly decent performance from Gene but he wont be in for too long.

High Quality match between Y2J and Goldberg with a big big big win for Jericho. The only problem was that although Jericho looked very strong it made Goldberg look quite weak and with his retirement match against Austin he needs to build momentum next week.

A brilliant edition of Smackdown as usual. The Royal Rumble is going to be one hell of a pay per view.

Re: Being The Booker

Opening promo gets the night started off on a good note and the former WWE Champion, Kurt Angle to open. Didn't like the beginning but Bret Hart saved it and made it seem a whole lot better. Legends Battle Royal to take place at Royal Rumble seems ok.

We get a Qualifying Match to begin the night off with and the System Success take the win. Was expecting Masters to get in there and now Simon Dean joins him. Another Four Way seems exciting next week and a face team will probably be in it

Lesnar takes the win over Hardy and Hardy doesn't get squashed in the process of the loss either. Ending was cool with Hardy reversing the F-5 and then going for the Twist of Fate but Lesnar is too powerful and he takes the win anyways with the F-5

System Success has always had funny segments and this one was not any different than any of the others. Should gives us a little comical relief during the match and Dean might even try using his bag to beat down any of his opponents with, which would be cool.

Angle segment was funny with the petition, eventually this is going to piss Bret Hart off and he's just going to sign the damn thing. Probably a month or two later and we will be seeing Hart sign it heading into WrestleMania 22 which would be great!

Maven's push and being sent to Smackdown helps him as he earns a Royal Rumble spot tonight. Easy win over Hardcore Holly for him and using the turnbuckle is something similar for a heel to do, don't see him doing too much in the 'Rumble though.

Long promo between Triple H and The Rock but JBL and Chris Benoit decide to interrupt too. Beatdown after was good and I am liking that you are having all of the superstars in the Royal Rumble have mini-feuds with each other before the big match

Snitsky find himself heading into the Royal Rumble as expected and he squashes Smackdown's jobber, Scotty 2 Hotty. Snitsky could last a little bit but don't see it being too long. Either ways, another decent addition into the Royal Rumble at least

Jericho gets the win over Goldberg and doesn't hurt Goldberg too much because I see him retiring soon anyways! Lesnar tries to interfere but it backfires on him and we see the number one contender get a win heading into the Rumble.

Re: Being The Booker

With already 250,000 signatures petitioning on, backing Kurt Angles quest for Bret Hart to accept a match between the two men, tried to reach Bret Hart for comment on the matter, but The General Manager of Smackdown brushed aside any questions regarding the Olympic Gold Medallist, and instead used the call to announce the ten legneds lining up at next weeks Royal Rumble. can now officially reveal the ten WWE legends as the following;
  • 'Road Warrior' Animal
  • Jake 'The Snake' Roberts
  • Tatanka
  • Irwin R, Schyster
  • Kamala
  • Dusty Rhodes
  • 'The Anvil' Jim Neidhart
  • 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan
  • Marty Jannetty
  • Jerry 'The King' Lawler
The General Manager has also revealed that after the actions of Jamie Noble on the January 5th edition of Smackdown, interfering in a triple threat match to determine the Number One Contender to Nobles title, that the Cruiserweight Champion will be forced to defend the championship against Billy Kidman, Akio and Tajiri in a Fatal Four Way on the January 26th edition of Smackdown, following The Royal Rumble.

The reasoning for putting back the inevitable title match is that this week on Smackdown, there will be a Non Title match, pitting six cruiserweight stars (Jamie Noble, Kidman, Tajiri, Akio, Paul London and Spike Dudley) for a spot in the upcoming Royal Rumble Match.

This also comes in addtion to the Fatal Four Way - Non Title - Tag Team Match this week, featuring The Basham Brothers, The Dudley Boys, William Regal & Lance Storm and Americas Most Wanted, also for two places in the Rumble match.

And, on Raw this week a big Battle Royal will open the show, for the final Raw spot in the Royal Rumble. Last week, the General Manager, Ric Flair announced the match would take place, but can now reveal the list of competitors in the final chance for all of these stars to reach the 30 Man Match...
  • The Heart Throbs
  • Danny Doring
  • Roadkill
  • Rene Dupree
  • Kenzo Suzuki
  • A-Train
  • Val Venis
  • Rhyno
  • Billy Gunn
  • Eugene
  • Steven Richards
  • Tyson Tomko
  • The Hurricane
  • Mark Henry
One of these men will be headed to the 30 Man Match on January 22nd, with one final chance to chase a dream.

I'll post a preview for Raw in a few days time, as this week I'll be writing Raw in full, and Smackdown in recapped form, before posting the Rumble a week or so later down the line.

I'll start returning reviews again by Wednesday, and I appreciate every review for the show this week thus far.

Re: Being The Booker

Good promo to kick off the show. Good way to build around the possible Hart/Angle match and a good match made for the Royal Rumble. I love watching the legends in action exspecially in a battle royal which Iike the idea of.

AFA vs. La Resistance vs. System Success vs. The Dicks-A nice match with System Success getting victory.

Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman vs. Matt Hardy-A pretty good match up with Brock Lesnar getting the victory over Matt Hardy to build up his domiance.

Good promo with System Succes. Funny with the new Simon System product.

LOL. That just makes me laugh with Kurt Angle now in the crowd. Seems like he really wantsthis match.

Maven vs. Hardcore Holly-Nice match. I am a Maven fan so it was good to see him walk out the winner even if it was by cheating.

Great promo building up on the Royal Rumble.

Gene Snitsky vs. Scotty Too Hotty-A squash for Gene Snitsky to enter the RR.

Chris Jericho vs. Goldberg-Great match to end the show with. Good way to end the show with Jericho looking strong just like Lesnar heading into the Royal Rumble.

Overall 9/10. Your shows have got back on top and now it is looking very good heading into RR in just 1 week.

Re: Being The Booker

Great opening promo, with Angle trying to get Hart to sign the contract. Angle played a great role here, with his comedy coming through well, especially the way we kept getting the fans back onside with the cheap pops. Hart keeps refusing, and Iím sure he will eventually sign the contract, but at the moment I cant see how, other than an Angle beatdown of Hart, with him forcing him to sign it

Good win for System Success, and they will do a job in the rumble, even though they wont win. Would have liked to have seen the AFA get in, but I guess I cant have everything

Good match between Lesnar and Hardy, and once again Hardy hangs with the main eventers, and I see a bit of a push coming for him on the way into mania. Lesnar gets another win over a biggish name which keeps him strong, and Hardy looks good as well

Nice promo with Dean and Masters, and nice comedy at the end. Maybe the end of system success?

Angle is really trying everything he can to get Hart to sign the contract. Nice little segment here, which furthers the feud a bit

Maven in the rumble then Ė donít see him doing anything special, but I suppose you have to have these kind of people in it.

Nice promo from the Rock, with him laying into the other contestants in the rumble match, and I feel this could end up as one of the segments, where everyone makes their claim. Nice to see him mention HBK, possibly igniting the feud again. HHH is next out, and he gives us his usual rhetoric, telling us how great he is. Then out comes JBL, who has gone a bit quiet as of late. He tries to get his point across, but the rock embarrasses him again. He gets a few words in, before my tip for the rumble match, Chris Benoit comes out. Nice words between the 4 of them, before the brawl occurs, with the faces winning. Good segment here to promote the rumble match

Snitsky gets into the rumble match which had to be expected I guess. Interesting to see how much of a run you give him

Good main event, with Jericho getting in a big win over Goldberg, showing he can beat the big men. Lesnar tried to attack Y2J, but it didnít work. Nice end to the show, with Jericho having the momentum

Re: Being The Booker

Quick update to anyone wondering my whereabouts -

Last few days have been pretty messed up, with the Broadband connection failing so many times it's unreal. Looks like it's all sorted now, but I'll not be around most likely until Sunday. So, those waiting for a reply to be returned, expect that to come on Sunday afternoon and evening, before I post Raw on Monday, before getting to post Royal Rumble on this day next week.
