Re: TNA: Changing The Face Of Pro Wrestling
March 13th 2006
So as usual, we all met in the board room after the monthly PPV. There was a lot to get to this week.
DíAmore: Guys, another good PPV last night. We have the foundation set for Lockdown but anything can change at any time. So, whatís on your minds?
Me: First off I want to say, as a fan, I thought this was a horrible idea last year. But, you guys pulled it off and made it work. They key is to mix things up. Nobody is going to buy an all cage PPV, I think we all know that. But if you have an all cage PPV with other gimmicks involved, it becomes interesting. So I think thatís the key with this PPV.
We all discussed Lockdown possibilities and everyone had a good idea that they threw out. The problem way making all of those ideas work in one cage filled PPV.
DíAmore: Great ideas boys. Now, anything else or can we prepare for tonightís tapings?
Jarrett: Iíve got a question for the kid. Whoís this ďbig nameĒ youíre planning to bring in?
Me: First off, I donít know how you got that information but since itís leaked, Iíll let you know. Yes, I have asked former and recent WWE employees to talk to a man in WWE about coming to TNA. Heís a much bigger name than Keibler, Styles, and Dreamer. A few guys are also in talks with other WWE workers, but those names arenít as big as the one Iím trying to bring in. Now Iím not guaranteeing anything but this is possible and if it happens, it will get us a step closer to WWE.
Jarrett: Ok hot shot, any other big plans youíve got lined up that we should know about?
Me: Yes, Slammiversary could be 4 hours long.
Jarrett: And why is that?
Me: Better question, why did you guys push Bound For Glory to be TNAís Wrestlemania? Because the deal with SpikeTV just went through so you could promote it heavily? Thatís a nice theory, but itís wrong. Slammiversary is the anniversary of TNA, it should be pushed as our Wrestlemania, not some random event in October. I could go into details on why this is a smart move but considering Iíve got the 4 hours all but cleared with the cable companies, thereís not much sense in arguing now is there? Add that with the fact that Iím blowing my booking load on this PPV and then thereís really no sense in arguing.
Jarrett: Listen kid, youíve been here for what, 3 months? And now you think youíre mister big shot or something? You donít make the final decisions around here, I do, and if you donít like that, you can go back to your little wrestling message boards and cry about how Jeff Jarrett ďpwnedĒ you or whatever you dumb shit internet talk is.
Me: Jeff, when you show me a good final decision, Iíll start to listen to you. Fact is that when you made all the decisions, they all sucked. Let me guess, you want the World Title again or something? Go talk to the boys in the back Jeff, a lot of them have come up to me saying how much better itís been since Iíve been here. I get it, you donít like me because Iím some punk kid who knows nothing about wrestling aside from what I read on the internet. Thatís cool I respect that. I also respect what you do and have done for this company and wrestling in general. But the fact is that since Iíve been here, Iíve deliver 3 out of 3 solid PPV cards. Is it all me? Hell no, I just write shit down on a piece of paper but the boys in the locker room clearly like what they see out of me, so they bust their ass to make what I write work. I take no credit for how big Alex Shelley has gotten over, thatís all him. I do take credit for suggesting to him how he could take his character to another level in this company. I take no credit for Elix Skipper or Don Callis. I do take credit for giving Callis and Skipper the Terrell Owens gimmick, knowing full well that it would get over. I come up with the ideas Jeff, the boys follow them, and in the end, I look like a million bucks thanks to them. Now if they half assed it, then I would look like trash and I probably would be on a wrestling message board right now. Thankfully, they like my ideas, and they donít half ass it. So Jeff, considering weíve actually turned a profit since Iíve been here, I would say that Iím qualified to make any decision I want at this moment.
DíAmore: Both of you shut up. Jeff, the kid has come in and the company as only gone up from there, so if he feels the decisions he makes will only help the company, let him do what he has to do. And Lambert, you are some kid who just caught a break and you ran with it, good job. But donít let your head explode kid or youíll be standing next to another brash writer named Vince Russo in the unemployment line. Now Iíll see everyone at the tapings tonight and I donít care if your shit is worked out or not, if you start this shit in front of the boys Lambert, Iíll make sure your out of here and Jeff, Iíll make sure you pay a heavy consequence courtesy of Dixie Carter.
I have always been shocked at how DíAmore seems to run things at the meetings. Ever since the first meeting, DíAmore has always taken charge over everyone, including Jarrett. And you know what, Iím glad DíAmore takes charge because God knows Jeff and I could come to blows without him.
My Comments: Ok, Iíve done what I never thought I would do, and thatís make it to the third PPV (which is a quarter of the year for you math drop outs). So know that I know I can do this and stick with it and have a loyal group of readers, I plan on making things a bit more interesting with the backstage stuff, and this is just the start. Also from now on, I wonít follow WWE results as they interfere a bit with my long term booking. Things will look similar (matches and such) but the results most likely wonít be the same. So yeah, I guess thatís about it for this post. I may have the backstage at impact segment up tonight but with 3 hockey games on in about 15 minutes followed by the Avs at 9, donít count on it.
