Re: TNA: Changing The Face Of Pro Wrestling
March 12th 2006
Backstage at Destination X
As usual, I arrived early. I looked over some notes before the show and watched the ring crew set up Ultimate X. I asked a member if there was anyway to guarantee the belt not falling. I know it was the X and not the belt that fell last time, but I wanted to take no chances. He gave me a suggestion and I took it to heart. The belt would have a little extra support tonight. I then decided to climb into the ring for the first time since my stint in TNA. I climbed the top turnbuckle and looked up at the X wires. No way was I going to try and climb my way across those things.
AJ: Having fun?
I looked back and saw AJ Styles at the rampway.
Me: Just seeing how tough this shit is
AJ: Yeah, it’s no cakewalk
Me: You’re a pro at this though
AJ: Trust me, it gets no easier the 4th time compared to the 1st
Me: So, you felling good about tonight’s match?
AJ: I feel great. We all came up with some innovative stuff and Joe should be fun to watch in it alone
Me: Yeah, that should be an adventure in itself
AJ: I just want to say the since you’ve been here, things have run a lot smoother
After that, we talked about past and current problems with the company. AJ has a bright wrestling mind and it was fun to listen to his ideas on where to go with the company. We walked to the back and into the locker room. I met up with Chris Jericho in the locker room and talked things over with him as the trainer was taping up his ribs.
Me: Looks like you’re ready to see an injury
Me: Well listen, I need your help along with Team 3-D, Rhino, Joey, and Christian. You were the last big name to jump and I need your help convincing somebody else.
I talked things over with Jericho and he was willing to help out. I told him to keep things on the quiet aside from the names I mentioned. Jericho went along with the plan and said he would help however he could. I had no intentions on bringing this man in right away but in a few months, look out. After I spoke with Jericho I gave my usual pre-PPV pep talk to everyone in the room. Everyone seemed pumped up and ready to go for the event. Should be a fun night to watch.
My Comments: Yes, Sting vs. Raven is done. I plan on working on Ultimate X tonight but I highly doubt I will finish it. Even if I do, it probably won’t be until later tonight and I won’t feel like doing the PPV Promo. I hope to have the PPV Promo up tomorrow (Wednesday) with Thursday being the latest. I plan on having the PPV up by Saturday at the latest.
