Re: TNA: Changing The Face Of Pro Wrestling
Against All Odds Review:
PreShow- I knew this was the gimmick change, back to the good old Shane Michaels! Great gimmick change and new team, the two Ticked Off Texans. I was blown away by the depth to this match, and it's only the pre-show. Great ending, having the new tag team come out victorius
New Commentator Joey Styles- Let me just say, you're already getting a ten, because JOEY STYLES IS NOW COMMENTATING! OH MY GAWD! great addition and a big shock
Degenerates vs New Crew- Great brawl match, both teams just destroying each other on the outside of the ring for a while. Nice way to finish it, having Kip knock out Apollo while Killing and Konnan are busy beating Waltman to notice. I love what Konnan said after the match, cutting the dead weight and bringing fresh meat, captured his character perfectly
Sting segment- Good promo, wasn't meant to be more than hype for the main event, and again you captured Sting's character very well
Monty Brown vs Rhyno- I would really love to see this match, Pounce vs Gore in a tables match. It was a very entertaining match, and I was surprised Rhyno didn't go through the table the first time. Then Monty is about to finish it with his Pounce, but Rhyno makes his comeback with a Gore, and then a Rhyno Driver through the table! Awesome ending, glad to see Rhyno win
Y2J segment- I was honestly laughing my ass off at the Stephanie comment. Again, did what it was supposed to do by hyping the main event and Y2J boosting his ego
3 Way Tag Match- Matches with this many men in it get confusing and are usually hard to write, but you made it a great match. I could visualize everything happening, so it was written very well. I thought for a second 3-D could pull through, but then the hockey stick to both Ray and Rooded ended it. Cool ending, AMW sticking to their traditional cheap shots
Christian segment- Another great promo hyping the main event, loving the comedy by Christian coming back to the camera with his signature line
Sabin, Daneils, Lethal vs Williams, Strong, Aries- This could easily be MOTN in my opinion. You made both teams look strong, getting in good hits on each other and a good chemisty between the teams. I was pulling for Aries, Strong, Williams to win, but I still loved the ending. Good showcase of talent from the TNA roster
Raven segment- Here is where many people run into trouble, as Raven's character and dialouge is so different and unique, yet you still had it down great. I can imagine Raven using those exact words, and it gave the dark feel that Raven gives in his promos
AJ Styles vs Skipper- haha, I liked Joey Style's comment about AJ's last name. anyway, another 'phenominal' match, but I kind of predicted it would end that way. Not that that's a bad thing, I enjoyed all the dangerous spots in the match, Skipper risking his win to tightrope walk and hurricanrana AJ, and AJ risking it with the Spiral Tap, just good stuff.
Shelley segment- You know these wrestlers inside and out it seems, Shelley saying a teddy bear beat Joe and that he has studied all of Joe's moves, just really shows how cocky Shelley is
Joe vs Shelley- Joe showed him who's boss! I liked how you had Shelley actually dominate Joe for a good portion of the match, making him seem like he could really pull the win out. Then he resorts to his cheating ways and pays the price by losing the match, it was an entertaining match and ending.
Double J and Mitchell segment- Brilliant, those two talking about how they are going to team up and have Abyss basically do the dirty work, giving a sense that JJ might get a free win
Full Metal Mayhem Match- Okay, fuck the 6 man tag, THIS was MOTN, no doubt! I liked how the match started kind of peaceful, having them just use punches and chops and brawl into the crowd. and then things really get started after Jarret is knocked to the floor. All hell breaks loose, lots of huge hardcore spots with Jericho being smash with a chair and kendo stick, Abyss falling through the tumbtack-tables, it was just incredibly written. like I said before, multi-men matches (more than 4 people) get confusing, but you pulled it off well. smart move by making a wrestler take a huge bump to take him out of the match for a period of time, making it less difficult to write. Sting and Raven getting handcuffed was great, and the whole match was just a big, great hardcore bash. The best part was the ending, it seemed like a desperate scramble as JJ, Abyss, and Jericho became non-factors, Sting and Raven cant move so they just toss things at the ladder and flail around in anger, but Christian grabs the title and makes the win for an emotional finish.
Overall- 10/10. The whole PPV was awesome, beginning to end. It had a great length and number of matches, all with their own special touch to make them an entertaining match. Not many PPV's are able to hold the attention of a reader for the entire thing, but I read every match because it was that damn good. You really deserve that 10/10, keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see JJ's reactions to this on Impact!
