TNA iMPACT! On SpikeTV

”This is TNA…The New Face In Professional Wrestling”

::The TNA Opening video plays::

::The camera goes to the Impact Zone where pyro is going off. “Bently Bounce” hits to a nice reaction from the crowd::

Tenay: Welcome folks to TNA Impact! Well Don, we are wasting no time in jumping into the action as we kick things off with X Division action.

West: Oh man Tenay, not only do we have X Division Action tonight but the Main Event is Abyss vs. Jeff Jarrett

::Bentley enters the ring with Traci as “Shell Shock” hits::

Tenay: Well here comes the Number 1 Contender to the X Division title and the man that claims he has Samoa Joe’s number

West: Well at this point Mike, he would be the only one with Joe’s number

::Shelley sets up the Shelley Cam at ringside and slides in the ring::

Matt Bentley vs. Alex Shelley

Both men lock up to start. Shelley puts Bentley in a headlock. Bentley shoots Shelley off into the ropes. Shelley bounces off the ropes and knocks Bentley down with a shoulder block. Shelley runs and bounces off the ropes. Bentley turns to his stomach and Shelley jumps over him. Shelley bounces off the other side of the ropes. Bentley gets up and connects with a dropkick on Shelley. Shelley gets up and Bentley arm drags him back down to the mat. Shelley gets up again and runs into an inverted atomic drop by Shelley. Bentley backs up a bit, charges, and clotheslines Shelley down to the mat.

Tenay: Bentley starting off this match like a man on a mission

Both men are down. Bentley kips up to his feet. Bentley goes to the corner and starts to stomp his foot. As Shelley stumbles to his feet, Bentley stomps his foot a bit faster. Shelley gets up and turns around to Bentley. Bentley leaps out of the corner and goes for Matt Music but Shelley ducks. Bentley turns around and faces Shelley. Shelley quickly clutches Bentley. West: His mind is clearly on Samoa Joe and the X Division title

Commercials

::We return to see Shane Douglas backstage with Don Callis and Elix Skipper::

Douglas: Don Callis, we all witnessed Elix Skipper in 6 Points of Impact….

Callis: Go no further Shane Douglas. What you witnessed at Final Resolution was the evolution of Elix Skipper. I told the world that Elix Skipper would show everyone that he was pound for pound the best athlete in TNA, and that’s exactly what he did. Alex Shelley may have won the match but Elix Skipper stole the show. And if it weren’t for AJ Styles, Elix Skipper would be taking on and defeating Samoa Joe at Against All Odds. So AJ Styles, on behalf of my client Elix Skipper, I here by issue a challenge to you for Against All Odds.

: Styles show up on screen::

Styles: Don Callis, unlike Elix Skipper, I can speak for myself and I accept your little challenge for Against All Odds.

::The camera cuts to Raven sitting down in the locker room::

Raven: Final Resolution came and went and Larry Zybsko threw everything at me that he had. He went up north and rounded up Tommy Dreamer from the E. He thought that Tommy Dreamer, the man that knows me better than anyone, would be the man to ship me out of TNA. Well Larry Zybsko was wrong. You see, whether Zybsko likes it or not, I defeated Tommy Dreamer in the ladder match at Final Resolution and I earned a shot at Jeff Jarrett and the NWA World Title. So what does Zybsko do? He screws me out of a one on one shot and sticks me with 4 other guys in a Full Metal Mayhem Match. Larry Zybsko will stop at nothing to make sure that I don’t reclaim what I feel I never lost. Zybsko will stop at nothing to get me out of TNA and make the work environment safer. Larry Zybsko thinks that by adding Chris Jericho, Abyss, Christian Cage, and Sting to Full Metal Mayhem that my odds somehow decrease in winning. Let me remind Zybsko that when I won the NWA World Title, I defeated Sean Waltman, AJ Styles, Monty Brown, and Abyss. How befitting it is that the PPV is entitled Against All Odds because that’s exactly what Zybsko has put me up against. Well I hate to play spoiler for you Larry but I’ve been Against All Odds my entire career and I’m still sitting before you today. Quote The Raven, Nevermore.

Commercials

::We return to see Chris Harris and Bobby Roode attacking Chase Stevens in the ring::

Tenay: Welcome back folks and as you can see, the 4 Way Tag Team Shootout has already started

::”Drop The Bombshells” hits and Brother Ray comes charging into the ring::

Brother Ray vs. Chris Harris vs. Chase Stevens vs. Bobby Roode

Brother Ray connects with a series of punches on Harris and Roode. The punches back Harris up to the ropes. Brother Ray clotheslines Harris to the outside of the ring. Roode charges at Ray and gets back dropped to the outside onto Harris. Ray helps up Stevens from the mat. Stevens goes up to the top turnbuckle. Stevens leaps and connects with a shooting star press onto Harris and Roode on the outside. The crowd starts up a “TNA” chant.

Tenay: Wow, what a move by Chase Stevens. Folks, don’t go anywhere because we will be back with the conclusion to this match

Commercials

We return to see Chase Stevens tagging in Brother Ray.

Tenay: During the break this match has turned into a tag team match of sorts with Harris pairing with Roode and Stevens pairing with Brother Ray

Ray comes in and starts throwing punches on Roode. Ray ends off the punch combo with the bionic elbow. Ray picks up Roode and scoop slams him down to the mat. Ray makes the tag to Stevens. Ray grabs the legs of Roode and splits them apart as Stevens goes to the top turnbuckle. Stevens leaps and connects with a leg drop to the crotch of Roode. Stevens makes the cover. 1…….2..Roode kicks out. Stevens picks up Roode and shoots him off into the corner. Stevens charges in after Roode but Roode gets his boot up to the face of Stevens. Harris comes in and puts the boots to Stevens. Harris picks up Stevens and shoots him into the corner. Harris charges after Stevens and connects with a corner clothesline. Stevens stumbles out of the corner and Harris takes him down with a bulldog. Harris picks up Stevens and shoots him into the ropes. Stevens bounces off the ropes and Harris catches him with a powerslam. Harris makes the cover. 1…….2…Stevens kicks out. Harris gets up and tags in Roode. Roode comes in and picks up Stevens. Roode shoots Stevens off into the ropes. Stevens bounces off the ropes and goes for a clothesline. Roode and Stevens connect with a double clothesline on each other. Both men are down. The ref begins his 10 count. 1…….2…….3…….4…….5….Stevens and Roode begin to crawl to their corners. Roode makes the tag to Harris. Harris gets in the ring and goes after Stevens. Stevens is inches away from tagging Ray. Harris grabs the leg of Stevens. Stevens gets up to his foot and connects with an enzuguri on Harris. Stevens makes the tag to Ray. Ray comes in and Roode decides to come in. Ray connects with a series of punches on Roode. Ray hits the bionic elbow on Roode. Harris gets up and runs into a scoop slam from Ray. Stevens gets in the ring and starts throwing punches on Roode. Ray picks Harris and shoots him into the ropes. Ray goes for a clothesline but Harris ducks under. Ray turns around and runs into a superkick by Harris. Harris makes the cover. 1…….2…Stevens makes the save. Stevens gets up and Roode connects with the Northern Lariat to the back of the head of Stevens. Harris sneaks behind Roode and low blows him. Harris rolls up Roode. 1…….2…….3

Winner – Chris Harris

Commercials

::We come back with a close up on Mike Tenay and Don West::

Tenay: Well Don we are just moments away from the Main Event but first we have a huge announce.

West: That’s right Tenay; during the break Larry Zybsko announced two HUGE matches just added to the Against All Odds card.

Tenay: That’s right Monty Brown will take on Rhino in a table’s match and The New Crew will take on The Degenerates in a Gang War Street Fight.

West: Oh man, those matches are just going to be brutal Tenay.

Tenay: Well now lets head to the back where Shane Douglas is standing by with Christian Cage

::Camera cuts to the back where we see Shane Douglas with Christian Cage::

Douglas: Christian Cage, at TNA Final Resolution we saw the debut of Chris Jericho and last week he cut a lengthy promo where your name came up a few times

Christian: Yeah Shane it’s no secret that Chris Jericho and myself go way back to our days in WWE and I will say that it is great to have him on the TNA Roster.

Douglas: Well you you’re going to have to face off against your good friend at Against All Odds

Christian: Oh my god Shane, I totally forgot about Full Metal Mayhem at Against All Odds. I was so wrapped up in the excitement of the Chris Jericho debut that it must have slipped my mind. Shane, of course I know I have to face Chris Jericho at Against All Odds. But it’s not only Chris Jericho I have to face. There’s also Jeff Jarrett, Raven, Abyss, and Sting. But that doesn’t matter to me Shane. They could put anyone in the Full Metal Mayhem match. It could be Jeff Jarrett, The Rock, Steve Austin, The Boogeyman…he’s coming to get you by the way Shane, and hell speaking of you Shane, you could return as Dean Douglas and it still wouldn’t matter. Because come hell or high water Christian Cage will accomplish what he set out to accomplish here in TNA. I will become NWA World Champion at Against All Odds because THAT’S, and let me show you how it’s done Chris, HOW I ROLL!

Commercials

::We return as “Black Hole” hits to a chorus of boos::

Tenay: Well folks it’s time for our Main Event

West: Oh man and what a match it’s going to be. I mean The Monster Abyss takes on the NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett

Tenay: But let us not forget Don that this is a non-title bout

::Abyss and Mitchell enter the ring as “My World” hits to huge heat. Jarrett comes out with the guitar and the NWA World Title::

Tenay: Well as usual, Jeff Jarrett is not alone

West: He always has that great equalizer

::Jarrett gets in the ring and asks for a mic. Jeremy Borash hands Jarrett a mic::

Jarrett: Guys what are we doing out here? This is just a ploy by the Championship Committee to screw me over once again. They say “Jeff go out there and wrestle the most dominant man in TNA today. Jeff go out there and wrestle your friend. Jeff go out there and wrestle Abyss.” Come on Mitchell; tell Abyss how stupid this is. We go way to the funeral of AMW. I recruited Abyss for Team Jarrett and he was dominant. He was the damn MVP of the team. I don’t want to fight you Abyss. We need to join forces in the Full Metal Mayhem Match. Guys like Jericho, Christian, and Sting are all friends. You know they are going to team up and try to take me out in Full Metal Mayhem. That’s why I need you Abyss, I need The Monster on my team, I need some protection. You do this for me and when I win Full Metal Mayhem, you get first title shot. Come on Abyss, that’s an offer you can’t refuse.

Tenay: Well it seems as if Jarrett is trying to bribe Abyss to get out of this match

::Mitchell consults Abyss on a decision. Jarrett hands the mic to Mitchell::

Mitchell: Jeff, I have talked it over with Abyss and we have reached a conclusion. You bring up some very good points Jeff. If You and Abyss team up, nobody could stop you at Against All Odds. Not Jericho, not Christian, not Sting, and Raven…well we both know he’ll be all alone. So Jeff, we agree to your little deal on one condition. You lay down in the middle of this ring and let Abyss defeat you.

::Jarrett takes the mic from Mitchell::

Jarrett: Jim, I did that once in my career and I promised never to do it again. But here’s what I will do. Ref, ring the bell.

Abyss vs. Jeff Jarrett

Jarrett drops the guitar and leaves the ring with the belt. He stops halfway up the ramp and yells at the ref to start the 10 count. 1…….2…….3…….4…….5…….6

Tenay: Jeff Jarrett is intentionally getting himself counted out of the match

8…….9…….10

Winner – Abyss

Tenay: Wow, what a cheap showing by Jeff Jarrett

::The lights go out to a huge pop. A huge explosion hits sending the lights back on::

Sting is in the ring with the baseball bat standing behind Abyss. Christian and Jericho are standing behind Jarrett on the ramp. Jarrett turns around and gets hit with a series of punches by Jericho and Christian. Abyss turns around and Sting stabs him in the gut with the bat. Jarrett continues to get backed up by the punches. Jarrett gets back up to the ring apron and rolls into the ring. Sting slams the bat onto the back of Abyss. Christian and Jericho follow Jarrett in the ring. Jarrett turns around and is face to face with Sting. Jarrett reaches for the guitar he had previously dropped. Sting takes his bat and smashes the guitar of Jarrett. Sting drops the bat and hits Jarrett with a back hand chop. Jarrett turns around and Jericho catches him with a double leg takedown. Jericho turns Jarrett over and locks him in the Walls Of Jericho. Sting grabs the legs of Abyss, crosses them, turns him, and locks him in the Scorpion Death Lock. Christian looks on at the two submissions. Raven walks out from the back and claps in approval of the in ring action.

Show Ends

My Comments: I want a new name for Bentley's Superkick, Matt Music seems really lame to me. Any suggestions? Next post will probably be tonight or tomrrow.

Id have a problem with it being called Matt Music if he werent Shawn Michaels' cousin/nephew, I forget which.

I liked this Impact much better then the last. I was a little surprised that there was no sign of Samoa Joe at all. Tenay mentioned him, but thats it. Shelley/Bentley was a great way to kick off Impact. I like how you're show casing XD wrestlers not named Styles/Daniels/Joe. Again, another great Raven promo, and Im enjoying Callis and Skipper's segments weekly. And that Styles' responce was so him...weak. But good to see you've got AJ's mic skills down. The fatal four way was intresting, not terrebily surprised Harris went over in it, but a good match none the less. Good old fashoned brawl to end Impact. And I found it interesting how Raven just stood there clapping, dont know why that stuck out to me so much. This Impact is easliy one of your best.
No Monty Brown = Ratings

Great Impact

Loved the two Full Metal Mayhem Promos and the Skipper vs Styles should be a good math at AAO. Liked the X match opener. Good four way, glad that Harris went over. Nice touch with the alliance with Abyss and Jarret and the faces also seem to be a cohesive unit to eliminate Jarrett and Abyss at AAO

Well it's only named Matt Music because he is related to Shawn Michaels but it seems like such a lame finisher name to me. Shell Shock, Styles Clash, Angels Wings, Muscle Buster, they seem like cool finisher names...Matt Music just seems so bland. Sweet Shane Music was a cool enough name but he's no longer Michael Shane. I guess it will stay Matt Music unless somebody comes up with something much better.

Yeah, I had a good time typing up this Impact but procrastinated on it a good bit (should have been done at like 10 AM this morning). Anyway, normal at home/backstage stuff will be up today (since it's officially Saturday in the East).

So call him Michael Shane agian. Your breaking copyright laws by calling BG and Kip The New Age Outlaws, so why not just call Bently Michael Shane- which is a better name anyway.

I realized I was breaking the copyright with New Age Outlaws so it's been just The Outlaws for awhile now. Maybe I'll call it The Bentley Bounce since he bounces his foot before he kicks the guy . Hmmm come to think of it, Shane Michaels isn't copyright I'm pretty sure, could work.

Default Re: TNA: Changing The Face Of Pro Wrestling

January 29th 2006

A lot going on today it seemed. WWE was holding the Royal Rumble tonight and because everyone wants to get on my good side, I was invited to a little get together. But as usual on Sunday Morning, it’s the Impact Review:

Good

*Alex Shelley: Talent On Loan From God? I wouldn’t argue it. He and Bentley put on a very good match and the ending was just perfect. Shelley showed how focused he was on the X Title and on nothing else (and damn it’s hard not to focus on Traci).

*Promos: Every promo was good last night. Raven, Callis, and Christian were all on their game. Callis did a nice job building up Skipper and getting AJ to agree to a match at AAO. Raven and Christian just did what they do.

*Ending: The ending was very good I thought. It showed that Jericho, Christian, and Sting were together, Abyss and Jarrett were together, and Raven was all alone. Raven clapping at the end just left the audience with a variety of questions, questions he will answer this week.

Bad

-4 Way Match: I just didn’t like this match. It wasn’t the workers, it was my booking. I should have never booked that match as it really didn’t accomplish anything. It sets up a Four Team Tag Match at AAO if I go that route.

-Too Much Hardcore: Full Metal Mayhem, Table’s Match, Gang Street Fight all on one PPV. It all just seems like a bit too much hardcore for us. Granted Joe/Shelley and Styles/Skipper will be all wrestling but this hardcore trend needs to be toned down.

-Main Event: No match, only an angle advancement. It sort of cheated the fans but I thought it worked out in the end. Still, I hate cheating the fans out of a true main event match.

I thought it was a good Impact overall. Only mistakes were in my booking, which is fixable. As long as the workers are doing well then they can hide the booking flaws. Now I had to get ready to join my fellow workers for a PPV that I’m not paying for.

My Comments: Royal Rumble jazz will be up today for sure.
