WWE: SmackDown –- 10/20/06 -– Comments

‘Gade, I’m sorry I haven’t been updated with this thread but I will be from now on.

Starting with… Whoa, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan joining Cole and Tazz on the commentary was a huge surprise. Orton and Booker T were expected and not that much interesting picks, but I can feel that the next picks will be filled with interest. Batista’s win was expected but it was an interesting match and an interesting pick nonetheless. Jericho’s promo looked alright, but I wanted to read more from him. However, I do expect him to get a victory against Goldberg (Undertaker might come back and screw Goldberg this time –- I feel that way). Paul London earns a shot at the CW Championship next week, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he takes the title away from FBI’s Nunzio. By the way, the aftermath was very interesting with Noble snapping, and the promo after the commercial break was needed to make the point clear. I do expect a Triple Threat Match between these guys for the CW Title anytime in the future.

JBL vs. Benoit looked the match of the night to me so far, and the way you explained that match was brilliant. I was surprised to see Benoit taking the victory because you said you will not continue writing with him (But then I scrolled down and read the ‘breaking news’). I now expect someone, probably JBL to take his spot for that match. Okay, the next promo was good, and Angle was the one who made it look ‘good’. I liked the way that promo ended though, with Angle seeming to get the advantage, but then Lesnar turning the tables and destroying Angle’s head with the WHC. FBI becoming the NEW WWE Tag Team Champions surprised me, and they could have a lengthy reign now with Nunzio as a CW Champ. Wow, FBI has three golds -– You are really making that stable look great. Lesnar vs. Angle is official for Survivor Series, but I expect Angle to get the win once again. ‘Gade, the brawl between those three tag teams was great, and the way you made it look like, I expect MNM to take those titles somewhere down the line. Great to see Helms pick up a victory and continue his push.

Kennedy’s promo looked good, and he could indeed become the NEW United States Champion because you’ve built him up nicely. Angle’s line makes me believe something interesting, really very interesting is gonna happen next week. Hardy/Hassan feud is also going alright, but I hope this feud ends up really soon ‘cause it’s not that much interesting. Amazing main event, the match of the night, and Jericho getting the win against Goldberg was expected, but the way you described things was unexpected, and it was a brilliant end to a show.

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

SmackDown Recap Review

Bobby the Brain? Awesome. As soon as you get rid of Cole, you’ll have one of the best announce teams ever. *Thumbs Up*. Heyman announces that Booker and Randy Orton are already part of the SmackDown team. Not a bad start and not surprising considering they are main focal points in the interbrand war. Batista defeats Finlay emphatically, earning himself the third spot and SD is looking really strong at the moment.

Jericho adds a bit of hype to his match with Goldberg later on tonight before we move onto the cruiserweight contenders match. London hit’s a spectacular move off of the top and picks up the win before he gets completely walloped by Jamie Noble. After this attack and the interview, Noble is coming off like a dominant killer. Nice booking and explanation for his actions.

Nice match up with Benoit and JBL going at it. The Crippler earns himself the fourth spot on team SmackDown which I assume will be his last appearance in this thread. Nice segment with Lesnar and Angle, continuing the feud between the two. Brock gains the advantage this week, taking Kurt out with a belt shot.

Oh shit! Wasn’t expecting that. The FBI steal the tag team titles away from America’s Most Wanted. This feud is far from over and I expect AMW to get some sort of a rematch next week or at the pay per view. As expected, Lesnar versus Angle is made for Survivor Series. Should be a really good one.

Three way brawl between the FBI, AMW and MNM. The tag team scene is solid at the moment and some sort of three way match might as well be penciled in for Survivor Series. Solid hype. Helms beats Holly. Good, future > past. How much things change. The last time I checked out the SmackDown brand, Kennedy was a face. Now, he’s trash talking Hardy and putting himself over. I sure as hell hopes he takes the title off of Hardy. But that will have to wait, at Survivor Series, its team versus team. Should be interesting.

Hardy accepts the match and Jeff Hard is the first member of his team. Kinda glad to see the Hardy Boyz back together. Hassan seems pretty upset and I think we know one of the members of Kennedy’s team. Solid match up between Jericho and Goldberg. The lights go out and I can pretty much figure out that Goldberg is screwed from here. Undertaker makes his presence known, beating the crap out of big Bill with a Chokeslam and a Tombstone, giving Jericho the win, and the final spot on Team SmackDown.

Survivor Series is looking strong and this recap did a great deal to push the event. Nice recap.

Smackdown! Recap Review- ORRY

First up tonight; Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan is introduced as the newest member of the announce team! A great choice in my opinion, as I feel Heenan, being completely fresh BTB wise, can add a lot of input to the show. The announcement of Booker and Randy as members off Team Smackdown! straight off the bat was a great choice in my opnion, because not only does it allow you to automatically involved the two main focuses of the interbrand war in the match, but you also don't need to worry about putting on two more qualifying matches.

Speaking of qualifying matches, Batista defeats Finlay in the first of three tonight, and by the sounds of things the match would have come across very weel on TV with Finlay working over Batista's shoulder for the majority of the contest. Jericho's promo adds a bit of hype to his match against Goldberg tonight; I really, really hope Y2J wins that one, as well as teasing the fact JBL and Jericho may have to co-exist on the same team. FBI warming up in their locker room adds a little bit of build to their match with AMW tonight, nice stuff.

London winning the 4way to face Nunzio next week for the belt was a great decision, and after Noble's post-match attack, I think London will defeat Nunzio and feud with Noble, or the three men will compete in a three way feud for the strap. Either way, some awesome matches are sure to be produced. The promo from Noble pretty much confirms that now, and I can't wait to see where you go with this angle. Goldberg arrives to huge heat, and I expect to see him go down in tonight's main event, due to an appearance from the Deadman. In an amazing contest, and Benoit's last bout in this thread, the Wolverine goes out in style, forcing JBL to tap to the Crossface. A great end to an amazing career, and I'm sure JBL will get himself into the team anyway now, so I'm happy with this result.

The Kurt Angle/Brock Lesnar segment came across very well for mind, with the feud between the two likely to continue into Survivor Series. Lesnar gaining the upper hand by nailing the low blow was also intelligent booking, as it saved Angle from losing any credibility. Wow, didn't expect to see the FBI win the Tag Titles at all, and now with Nunzio holding the CW strap, the FBI are most certainly looking the goods here on SD!. Lesnar/Heyman segment was short and sweet, and now Lesnar/Angle is confirmed for SS! I can't wait!

The brawl between the three tag teams was effective, and almsot guarentees a three way fued between the 6 of them. Helms defeats Holly, which was a great decision, as he most certainly has Bob covered in nearly all categories. Kennedy promo was gold, and Team Hardy vs. Team Kennedy at SS should and will be amazing. Hardy accepts the challange, and announces that is first partner will be none other than his brother Jeff ..... AWESOME!

Main event time and as I predicted Undertaker makes his presence felt, costing Goldberg the win and earning Y2J a spot in Team Smackdown! at SS. I expect Taker and Bill to face off in a Rubber Match at the PPV, and with Team Hardy/Team Kennedy, Lensr/Angle and Raw/Smackdown! already confirmed, what a show it should be!

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

Smackdown!: 10/20/06 - Review:

Great to see Bobby "The Brain" Heenan as part of the announce team now. It's also great to see Orton and Booker on Team Smackdown! The three matches already set for tonight look excellent. I'm most excited for JBL going against Benoit. Batista gets a clean win against Finlay in a long, great match-up. I wonder how Batista's arm will hold up. Now that Team Smackdown! has Batista, they are in for an advantage.

Nice promo by Jericho. Hopefully he gets the win tonight. Close match-up between the four Cruiserweights. I'm glad that London got the win. Hopefully he wins the title next week. I sense London vs. Noble possibly in two weeks or Noble screwing London out of a win next week. Very solid match between JBL/Benoit. It was as good, if not better than I thought it would be.

The Angle/Lesnar promo got me pumped for another match, but I would have liked to have seen the F-5. Anyway, a hit to the head with a belt does enough damage. The FBI/AMW match was nothing special, but its good making the FBI look dominant by having the WWE Tag Team titles and Nunzio having the Cruiserweight title. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar sounds like an excellent match.

Helms/Holly was a good match for Helms. Kennedy's promo was gold for what was said. The Kurt Angle/Brock Lesnar feud is really beginning to spark again. Team Hardy got its first member, Jeff Hardy, woo! Hassan might be going with Kennedy's team.

Main Event: I loved to see moves like the Lionsault and Spear used. The Military Press was pretty sweet and when the lights went out, I knew who it was. When I saw the referee down I was a little bit confused, but then they went off again and The Undertaker was in
the middle of the ring. I'm glad that the Chokeslam and Tombstone Piledriver. I'm glad Y2J picks up the win and scores a spot on Team Smackdown!

Realism: 8.5/10 - Great keeping the superstars in character.
Length: 8.5/10 - Good length for a recap. Main event got into detail, thats good.
Quality/Entertainment: 8/10 - Really good storylines building and such.
Spelling/Grammar: 9/10 - Only saw a couple spelling mistakes and a missing period.
Matches/Booking: 9/10 - Great booking and the matches were good as well as the results.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10 - Keep up the good work!

Thanks for all the comments on SmackDown!, they are much appreciated. I will return as many reviews as I can when you guys post new shows/PPV's.

WWE.com News

Following the passing of Chris Benoit, it is expected his place at Survivor Series will be taken by the man whom he defeated on SmackDown! this past Friday in JBL. This completes the SmackDown! team line-up for their Inter Promotional Match with Team RAW.

In the coming months, Goldberg & Sting are both expected to leave the company after neither could reach a deal with officials over new contracts. When they do leave however is still up in the air.

Dave Batista has also requested a leave of absence, which has been granted. Batista has been working with an injured shoulder since September and it is well known that he requires surgery to fix the problem fully, with a layoff time of up to a year for recovery.

And finally The New Age Outlaws will make their final WWE appearances at Survivor Series, following their decision to leave the company for a "fresh direction".

Matches to Survivor Series Added

Mick Foley has added a RAW brand only Survivor Series Tag Match as AJ Styles will captain a team to face a team captained by Matt Striker

Team Styles: AJ Styles(CAPT), Carlito, Rhyno & Dudley Boyz

Team Striker: Matt Striker(CAPT), Test, Chris Masters & WGTT

Meanwhile SmackDown!'s brand only Survivor Series Tag Match has had it's numbers filled as Team Hardy & Team Kennedy are finalised

Team Hardy: Matt Hardy(CAPT), Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy & Hardcore Holly

Team Kennedy: Mr. Kennedy(CAPT), Finlay, Muhammad Hassan, Gregory Helms & William Regal

WWE RAW preview for 10/27/06

This Monday's broadcast will kick off with Vince McMahon and the entire WWE locker room out at ringside to mourn the passing of Chris Benoit, who passed away on Saturday morning. This will include a brief speech from Vince, along with a ten bell salute and a video package highlighting Benoit's tremendous career in wrestling

In a tribute to Chris Benoit, 8 of his closest friends will partake in a huge 8 Man Tag Match as World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle will team with Rhyno, the returning Rey Mysterio and also Chavo Guerrero to take on Chris Jericho, Finlay, and former WWE superstars and Radicalz team mates of Benoit in Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn whom both return for a one night special appearance

Also this week on RAW, Mick Foley will request that his RAW superstars be ready to be called to ringside again later in the show as he announces the men that will represent Team RAW at Survivor Series. Which five men will Mick Foley select, and will the intentions from Christian & Monty Brown last week be taken into Foley's considerations?

With Triple H set to defend his WWE Title at Survivor Series against one of the following; The Rock, Rob Van Dam, Kane, Edge or John Cena, what can we expect from the six men this week after last week's crazy altercation's, in which Kane demolished all five men, and then later in the main event, RVD stopped Edge from winning when he nailed the Van Daminator, allowing Triple H & The Rock to pick up the victory? Whatever happens, you can expect that each of the challengers will want to get their message across that they are the one taking the belt off Triple H come Survivor Series

Plus, after they cheaply retained their Tag Titles last week, Cade & Jindrak will have to defend them against Cryme Tyme again this week, with the remaining RAW tag teams at ringside, acting as enforcer's to make sure there is no foul play and that the match is won fairly

Also, with Team Styles vs Team Striker also announced earlier today for Survivor Series, what can we expect when the two captains collide as AJ Styles takes on Matt Striker in a Non-Title match

Plus, Trish Stratus will team with Mickie James to take on Lita and Victoria in Diva's Tag Action

All this and more on Monday Night RAW, 9/8pm central on USA Network

RAW up midweek.

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

Great news and notes man. JBL replacing Benoit was the best descision possible, and the fact Goldberg and Sting will be leaving the company in the coming months doesn't bother me in the slightest. Batista taking a leave of absence is unexpected, but again, not a major loss in my eyes, and the New Age Outlaws being given the boot is a another good descision, as I feel they offer basically nothing to the company.

The Team Styles vs. Team Striker match is a great additon to SS, and should make for a very entertaining contest, whereas Team Hardy vs. Team Kennedy has the potential to be a show stealer in my opinion. By the way, have I mentioned the fact I absolutely love your use of Matt Hardy .

The preview sets the tone for what should be an amazing show, and the 8 Man Tag Match in Tribute of Chris Benoit should be nothing short of breath-taking and heart wrenching. The other matches confirmed look solid as well, and I can't wait to see who in fact becomes Triple H's opponent for SS! Maybe all 5 men? Will definately be tuning into the show; looks awesome.

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

I have been quitely reading your thread without leaving any reviews, for that I am sorry, I will definitely get a review up for your Smackdown, or if you'd prefer, RAW, Pm me in case I forget.

The Raw Preview looks great and I suspect an Elimination Chamber in the midst and it looks like a stacked show, I will definitely be reading.

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

OK guys RAW was gonna go up today, but I haven't been able to work on it for the last 2 days because we had a fucking power cut down here, and they always take FOREVER to respond to the Blue Mtns for some shitty reason.

So RAW will hopefully be going up tomorrow if I get it done.

Great news and notes, good to see Goldberg leaving, Sting leaving doesn't bother me too much either. And also about time for the Outlaws to be given the boot and great to see that you are pushing the old talentless guys out. Good matches added to the Survivor Series card especially looking forward to tha Smackdown match which has the potentional to steal the show. Raw looks to be a solid show, the main event is surely going to be great as it is a tribute for Benoit and will be intersting to see how the WWE Title scene develops. Look forward to when you get Raw up
