Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

Thanks for the reviews guys, much appreciated. As with last week, I'll be able to return them over the weekend, and thaphenom01 I am SO SORRY, I completely forgot about ya last week, but this week I'll definately remember to get a return review up for ya.

Here is this week's SD! in recap form because I've been real busy these hols and have had no time to sit down and write a full show...

SmackDown! (Recap)
Uptown Arena
Charlotte; North Carolina
10/06/06

*Opening Video*

*PYRO*

We kick the show off with Benoit and JBL meeting in the first Semi Final of the No Mercy tournament. The two take it to each other in a very competitive match that runs over ten minutes and the match is Benoit's after interference from Chris Jericho caused JBL to lose concentration on Benoit, who quickly slapped the Crossface on Bradshaw and made him tap, with Benoit heading to the Final next week

After the break we are in the presence of JBL who storms into Heyman's office and demands something be done to punish Jericho. Heyman says he's getting sick of this constant bickering between the two, and they can settle their differences next weekend at No Mercy in a match, JBL walks out looking slightly happier

Kurt Angle now barges in with Heyman rolling his eyes at the sight of the Olympian, who immediately berates the match he had to wrestle with Doink The Clown last week. Heyman calms Angle down and tells him he's been booked in a very special match tonight, which seems to please Angle. Kurt leaves the office and Heyman smirks, obviously up to something

Next up in a showcase for the current feud between the three tag teams who will meet at No Mercy, Chris Harris, Vito and Joey Mercury go at it in a standard triple threat match. Mercury seems to have it won after hitting a Superkick to Harris, but Vito makes an opportune save and steals the win himself over Harris

Backstage now and Kristal interviews Batista ahead of his match with Brock Lesnar. Batista says it's time for the Animal to once again be unleashed on SmackDown! and no one, and he means NO ONE, will be able to tame him in his fight to gain back HIS World Title

After the break we return and find Matt Hardy in the ring with his US Championship. Hardy talks about the fact that he doesn't care how many people want his US Title, they can all find out the same conclusion that Matt Hardy "Will...Not...Die!". This brings out Muhammad Hassan who jumps Hardy from behind and puts a mini beatdown on him, before Gregory Helms runs to the ring and STOPS HASSAN! The crowd is confused, but then Helms scores with a Shining Wizard to Hardy! The heat pours in as Hassan & Helms look to make a statement here on Hardy, when Mr. Kennedy runs to the ring to a good pop. Kennedy however joins in on the beatdown too! The crowd boos as the three men continue to hammer at Matt Hardy when *REAL DEAL* hits and the crowd pops as Bobby Lashley sprints to the ring and cleans house on Kennedy, Hassan & Helms. Lashley helps Matt Hardy to his feet and points to the US Title, with Hardy holding his head and nodding, then looking at the other three men who are at ringside, also pointing to Hardy's belt

We now see Paul Heyman, flanked by Randy Orton & Booker T, walking the halls backstage and we are informed that they are heading to the ring after the break

As we return, Heyman is in the ring, saying it's time RAW learnt what they were dealing with. With that, Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki make their way out and we are informed an impromptue tag match is about to take place

In a completely dominant performance, Orton & Booker absolutey crush Scotty & Funaki in a two minute squash. Orton & Booker hit all their signature moves before Orton drills Funaki with the RKO for the easy victory. After the match, Orton claims at No Mercy, two more legends are added to the scalps he's already taken when Austin & Sting taste RKO's, and Booker says SmackDown! is gonna be on top of RAW

Brock Lesnar is interviewed by Steve Romero ahead of the main event tonight. Lesnar talks up his chances much like Batista and says you can't stop the "Next Big Thing" from becoming "The Big Thing"

Kurt Angle hits the ring to a huge ovation and awaits his opponent. Tony Chimel gets on the mic and announces the following match as a "Champion vs Champion" match. We wait a few moments and then *Full Blooded* hits to heat as the Cruiserweight Champion Nunzio heads to the ring looking nervous. Angle is furious in the ring, not believeing he's been made a joke of for the second week straight

Nunzio tries his best in this match and spends most of the time trying to run away from the Wrestling Machine, but it's only a matter of time before Angle catches him and puts him to shame. Chuck Palumbo & Vito hit the ring to try and help Nunzio out, but AMW rush them and the two teams brawl out into the crowd, leaving Nunzio to be hit with an Angle Slam and then tap out to the Ankle Lock as Angle grabs his belt and storms off, again not happy with the lack of competition he's being given by Heyman

After the break we return and see Nunzio limping down the halls after being taken to school by Kurt Angle. Nunzio enters the locker room and places an icepak on his left leg and sits down. The door is then shut behind him and Paul London stands behind Nunzio! Nunzio goes to back away from London, but bumps into the wall. London tells Nunzio that he's sick of seeing an undeserving guy like him hold the belt, and that he's gonna do everything in his power to make sure he takes it off Nunzio

Finlay is now being interviewed on how it felt to lose a great technical encounter to Chris Benoit the other week. Finlay says he hates the fact Benoit got through while he was left out, all because of some fluke. Finlay says he can beat Benoit any day of the week, any how, anytime. Finlay storms off leaving Kristal by herself. Little Bastard then runs into view and comically slaps Kristal on the backside before running off giggling

Finally, main event time. Batista & Lesnar slug it out in a brutally slow, painful match with two hard hitters going all out. Unfortunately, as the action spills to the outside, Lesnar F5's Batista into the ringpost shoulder first and Batista immediately looks hurt. The match continues however and despite Big Dave's best efforts, the shoulder is his downfall as he cannot Powerbomb Lesnar, who drills the Animal with an F5 for the win

Quick match results

Chris Benoit def. JBL in 12:34
Vito def. Chris Harris & Joey Mercury in 5:31
Randy Orton & Booker T def. Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki in 2:06
Kurt Angle def. Nunzio in 6:10
Brock Lesnar def. Batista in 10:56

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

First of all, let me say that the fact the show was in recap form didn’t hurt the storyline progression or angles at all. You write in this format very well, and if you face anymore time constraints, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to it if I were you.

John Bradshaw Layfield and Chris Jericho didn’t get a whole lot of time this week, but the angle has progressed to a match at No Mercy which is a good thing. Jericho costs JBL his match against Benoit, and I’m very pleased to see that happen. Originally when this tournament began, I thought that we’d see Angle vs. JBL vs. Jericho at No Mercy after a fluke, but that didn’t happen. Perhaps Benoit can get the nod but I seriously believe it will be Lesnar.

The tag-team match at No Mercy is also shaping up to be a good one, but I think that some spots involving this angle were a little on the jagged side. I thought that the Italian interference in the midst of the Angle vs. Nunzio match followed by the AMW cleanup was a bit unwarranted, but nonetheless, you used it well to get some heat behind the feud.

Randy Orton and Booker T flank Paul Heyman and they come to the ring, squashing Funaki and Scotty 2 Hotty before frothing at the mouth about their efforts to one-up Raw. I expect that this will not end at No Mercy, and will likely lead to some showdown at WrestleMania.

Brock and Batista have a slow, intense, and nasty brawl like you knew they would. A big plus here when Lesnar injures the Animal’s shoulder. That really put over Lesnar as being incredibly strong, although Batista was made to look a bit soft because he couldn’t overcome the injury. This would have been a good match to read in more detail, so I could have judged how well Lesnar went after the shoulder after the ringpost attack. You did well with this angle, and I expect Lesnar will challenge Angle big time at No Mercy before coming up just short.

Overall Grade – 80/100

My BTB, WWE: ALL GROWN UP, is a young project that I’m really trying to build interest in. If you’d be interested in returning a review, I’d appreciate it. I’ll be glad to exchange reviews continually, if you wish to work out such an agreement.

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

Review for Renegade’s Smackdown Recap

Benoit vs. JBL
I was correct with my prediction last week in semifinal match #1, with Jericho providing the distraction, sidetracking JBL and enabling Benoit to lock in the Crossface. This was definitely a quality booking move, which will add more fuel to the fire of the JBL/Jericho feud that you’ve already developed well in the past few shows. If Benoit were to win this tournament, I’d be very intrigued to see what you have in mind for his one on one match with Angle, considering the classics they’ve already put out. I’m sure if you’re planning on having Benoit win the tournament, you have something new and creative for what would be their upcoming title match. Glad to see that JBL vs. Jericho was officially added so quickly to the No Mercy card, to confirm the inevitable.

I wonder if Heyman is playing mind games with Angle as a way to subliminally signal that he may be screwing him out of the title down the line. Either that or he’s just toying with him for his own personal enjoyment, I can’t tell.

A triple threat match with one member from each of the tag teams in the upcoming Tag Title match at No Mercy is a solid match to have here. Mercury thinks he has the match won but Vito steals it, pinning Harris. I didn’t expect Harris to get pinned here, as he’s someone that could legitimately be built up as a singles competitor. But, right now he’s in the tag title scene so I don’t disagree with the decision. The FBI gains some much needed momentum as up until now, I didn’t view them as an even remotely legitimate threat to win the belts.

The US title scene continues to be nothing short of chaotic as three potential challengers come out and beatdown the title holder, Matt Hardy. Lashley comes out to make the save and it appears he may be interested in the US title as well. Now with four people involved as potential challengers at No Mercy, I’m intrigued to see what you do with the US Title picture, that right now appears very clustered.

Randy Orton and Booker T receive a gift from Heyman, as they are handed two jobbers to dominate for a couple of minutes until they decide they’ve had enough. Orton scores the pinfall with the RKO as they make a statement to Raw by showing their talents. Orton & Booker T vs. Austin & Sting at No Mercy is certainly intriguing and creative.

Kurt Angle is given Nunzio as his mystery opponent as yet another joke of an opponent to the Olympic Gold Medalist delivered by Paul Heyman. The FBI tries to get involved but AMW runs down to attack them and Angle picks up the easy victory after an Angle Slam and an Ankle Lock. I hope Nunzio drops the belt to someone credible that can build up the Cruiserweight Title in the very near future, as Angle’s frustration over the lack of competition when he’s facing the CW champion makes it appear very lackluster.

It looks like my hopes may have been answered as Paul London threatens that he will be taking the Cruiserweight title. I would be all for him taking the belt at No Mercy. After this brief segment, Finlay is interviewed as he shows his frustration over losing to Benoit in the quarterfinals of the tournament. I laughed when the Little Bastard slapped Kristal’s ass, random and hilarious.

Batista vs. Brock Lesnar
For the second consecutive week, a battle of monsters in the main event. Lesnar hits an F-5 on Batista, sending him shoulder first into the ring post (very nice spot), leading to Batista not being able to take him up for the Batista Bomb (excellent follow up on the F-5 spot), enabling Lesnar to hit another F-5 for the pinfall to advance to the finals.

I nailed both of my predictions for the semifinals and I’m guessing that Lesnar will go over Benoit to win the tournament and face Angle at No Mercy. Last week, they had a brief interaction backstage and at the time I thought that could foreshadow something in the near future, as Lesnar has been the only one from the tournament to have any interaction with the Champion in recent weeks. Overall, though it was recapped, it still did a quality job of advancing feuds and building them up nicely. I’m very excited for No Mercy and I can’t wait to see who will be facing Angle for the title.

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

Well it's been a bitch of a week, I know this is a week late but with the time restrictions and my cruddy internet screwing up, this was continually pushed back for posting and such. Here is the final SD! in recap form before No Mercy.

No Mercy will be up within the next week or so, I will be doing it in an extended recap form much like Wolfy has been doing because at this time with the BTB World Cup on I don't have the time to write a full PPV up. However, the extended recap should suffice.

SmackDown! (Recap)
US Airways Center
Phoenix; Arizona
10/13/06

The show begins with the big match between Chris Benoit and Brock Lesnar in the "No Mercy" tournament final. The two go at it for close to half an hour in a classic TV match, with both men coming close on numerous occassions. Benoit was able to get his foot on the rope after copping an F5 somehow, and Lesnar survived the Crossface by reaching the ropes after being in the hold for over a minute. We come to the closing stages with Benoit hitting 10 German Suplexes in a row to Lesnar who had been the agressor as of late. Both men were down, Benoit made the first move, going upstairs and leaping off looking to connect with the Swandive Headbutt, but Lesnar avoided the contact! Lesnar pulled Benoit up and looked ready to drill him with the F5, but Benoit turned it into the CROSSFACE! The crowd went wild as Benoit had the deadly submission move locked in when LITTLE BASTARD ran into the ring, distracting the referee. FINLAY then snuck into the ring with his Shillelagh and cracked Benoit in the face with it! Benoit lost his hold on Lesnar, who then drilled Benoit with the F5 for the win and to advance to face Kurt Angle at No Mercy!

After the break, Chris Benoit was irate with what happened. He was however informed that he will get his chance to gain a measure of revenge on Finlay as the two will meet this Sunday at No Mercy. Benoit is still upset as we leave his side

Next up we have the second match of the night, another triple threat showcase for the Tag Titles situation going on at the moment, this time involving James Storm, Johnny Nitro & Chuck Palumbo going at it. They produce an above average match which only runs for about 4 and a half minutes before Palumbo nails Nitro with the Jungle Kick, only then to eat the Eight Second Ride from Storm, who picks up the win!

We are now informed that Batista has suffered a shoulder injury during his match with Brock Lesnar and will not be on SmackDown! tonight by Paul Heyman, who is standing backstage. Heyman then says it's time for an address from the GM, as he will be in the ring after the break

As we return Paul Heyman is in the ring. Heyman announces that this weekend, SmackDown! is gonna dominate RAW as Orton & Booker T clean Austin & Sting up and there will be no outside interference from anyone from SmackDown! and he says that he hopes Foley has the guts to make the same rule for RAW. Heyman goes to exit the ring when MICK FOLEY appears! Foley & Heyman then engage in the promo of the year, completely giving it all they've got. Foley goes to leave, but Heyman says he'll need his departing gift, and then Foley is spun around into an RKO! Randy Orton is in the ring! Orton & Booker T stand with Heyman above Foley when *GLASS SHATTERS* rocks the building sending the crowd crazy and Austin runs to the ring with Sting by his side, wielding his pattended baseball bat, causing Heyman, Orton & Booker to scramble away. The two teams exchange words ahead of their big clash this Sunday

Paul London meets Nunzio next, beating the CW champion by taking him by surprise as Nunzio attempted a Sicilian Slice, London countered with a roll up to pin the CW champ, meaning London will get a shot at the gold this Sunday at No Mercy against Nunzio

Matt Hardy is with Kristal next and he talks about the fact that he has four men coming for him this Sunday in the 5 Way Dance, but that doesn't scare the Daredevil Renegade, because they will find out what everyone has already found out, that "Matt Hardy will...not...die!"

Chris Jericho now hosts the Highlight Reel with special guest Kurt Angle. Angle says this Sunday he'll teach Brock Lesnar that Angle still is the "Wrestling Machine" and gives a good promo. The show then degenerates as JBL appears to berate Chris Jericho, but Y2J gets JBL all riled up after some wise crack comments. The main event of the show is then changed by Heyman to a Tag Match with Angle & Jericho facing JBL & Finlay

Melina beats Jillian Hall in a dud Women's match that only runs a couple of minutes and Melina picks up the win after an Extreme Makeover to Jillian

Mr. Kennedy now talks up his chance at becoming the US Champion at No Mercy this weekend in the 5 Way Dance, saying that in the GM Place the reign of Kennedy begins...begins...

We now switch to see Matt talking with his brother Jeff Hardy when Bobby Lashley shows up. Jeff says goodbye to Matt and walks off. Matt & Lashley talk, Matt thanks Lashley for saving him last week, but warns Lashley there are no friends this Sunday. Lashley smirks and glances at the US Title as he walks off

After the break, Goldberg is standing by. Goldberg tells Undertaker that he will make sure that this weekend, Taker is next. Goldberg says he'll beat every single blood, sweat and tear out of Taker inside the HIAC match and cripple Taker, permanately

In the main event, catastrophy breaks out at the end as Finlay seems ready to club Angle with the Shillelagh, only for Chris Benoit to run into the ring and tackle Finlay down, causing the ref to end the match with a DQ! Jericho grabs a chair and chases JBL backstage while Benoit and Finlay brawl out into the crowd, and Kurt Angle gets back to his feet, to see Brock Lesnar standing on the stage, staring right at Angle, who stares right back, the two locking eyes and Angle raising the WHC up as the show ends

Final card for No Mercy is below, feel free to leave predictions...

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

Review for Renegade’s 10/13/06 Smackdown episode

I like how you picked the finals of the tournament to start off the show, leaving a possibility for an interaction between the winner and Angle later in the show. Though Benoit vs. Lesnar was summarized, it sounded like a classic. Easily PPV quality with the recap of the finish, I loved the suspense throughout with Benoit getting his foot on the bottom rope after an F-5 (great touch) and Lesnar fighting out of the Crossface, making it to the ropes. Benoit countering the F-5 with a Crossface was a nasty counter, but Finlay’s little bastard comes out and distracts the ref, enabling Finlay to crack Benoit in the face with the Shillelagh. Lesnar hits the F-5 and wins the tournament, he was my pick the whole way and I’m very intrigued to see how the World Title match turns out. I could definitely see the title changing hands at No Mercy. Though some may not like the fact that there was a run-in in the tournament finals, I don’t have a problem with it and it adds tremendous fuel to the fire of a Benoit/Finlay match at the PPV. Needless to say, their match will own at No Mercy and may steal the show from the main event. Great opener.

Another triple threat match with the representatives from each team involved in the triple threat tag title match at No Mercy. This time, James Storm gives AMW the momentum heading into the PPV, pinning the FBI’s Palumbo. Their match should be a solid mid card contest and I see the belts changing hands from AMW to MNM.

It’s unfortunate that due to time restrictions this promo couldn’t have been written in full, it would’ve been great to see. But despite being recapped, it definitely built up the Raw vs. Smackdown match at No Mercy nicely. The post-promo part was great with Orton coming out and RKO’ing Foley and then Austin & Sting coming down to confront Team Smackdown but they quickly bail. This is a very intriguing matchup right here and I’m anxious to see which team goes over as it’s fairly unpredictable.

Nice to see London pick up a non-title victory over Nunzio, earning himself a Cruiserweight Title shot at the PPV. As I’ve said in recent weeks, I’m really pulling for London as he could really boost the credibility and prestige of the Cruiserweight Title with a lengthy reign as champion. We could see a lot of titles changing hands at No Mercy.

Nice timing for the Highlight Reel as it directly leads to the main event, where Lesnar and/or Benoit are very likely to interfere. You’ve built these feuds up nicely every week and the tag match will be a great way to preview the PPV with Jericho and JBL in the same ring, as well as the World Champ and Finlay, who is in an upper-mid card match that will likely steal the show.

Melina wins over Jillian, as you said it was a dud women’s match, nothing really to comment on.

Two brief segments further hype up the 5 man US Title match, after Hardy’s earlier promo. I laughed when Kennedy said the reign of Kennedy begins...begins. Lashley and Matt interact backstage briefly, with Lashley showing that his focus is strictly on the title. Should be interesting, but I expect Matt to retain at No Mercy.

Goldberg hypes up the Hell in a Cell match with a promo, threatening Taker and showing that he is not afraid of the Deadman. This match desperately needed a gimmick and you gave it the perfect one, this is another hard to predict contest and I’m very interested to see how it turns out.

Benoit runs down in the main event, returning the favor to Finlay, though the circumstances were much less important than the tournament finals. Jericho chases JBL to the back while Benoit and Finlay go at it intensely through the crowd, as they should considering the events of the night. Lesnar and Angle stare each other down from a distance as the show goes off the air, nice way to end the episode.

Overall, this was a very solid episode to further build up feuds for the PPV. Though an Angle/Benoit match for the title would’ve been great to see, Lesnar/Angle will still be very good. I’m expecting Benoit vs. Finlay to steal the show, especially since it’s just gotten very personal after what went down in this show. The card looks stacked and I will definitely be reviewing No Mercy, can’t wait to read it.

Feedback on my Destination X PPV would be greatly appreciated if you have the time.

My predictions for No Mercy

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Kurt Angle (c) vs Brock Lesnar

US Title; 5 Way Dance
Matt Hardy (c) vs Lashley vs Mr. Kennedy vs Muhammad Hassan vs Gregory Helms

WWE Tag Team Championships; Triangle Tag Match
AMW (c) vs FBI vs MNM

Cruiserweight Championship Match
Paul London vs Nunzio (c)

Hell In A Cell Match
Undertaker vs Goldberg

RAW vs SmackDown! Challenge; Tag Team Match
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin & Sting vs Randy Orton & Booker T

Grudge Match
Chris Jericho vs JBL

Grudge Match
Chris Benoit vs Finlay

Re: WWE 2006 by Renegade™

No Mercy Predictions

World Heavyweight Championship Match

Kurt Angle (c) vs Brock Lesnar-Don't see Angle losing the title here for some reason, but could very well lose title to Lesnar at later date possibly Survivor Series after some more buildup to the feud.

US Title; 5 Way Dance
Matt Hardy (c) vs Lashley vs Mr. Kennedy vs Muhammad Hassan vs Gregory Helms- Expect Hardy to keep title here

WWE Tag Team Championships; Triangle Tag Match
AMW (c) vs FBI vs MNM-Random guess here in all honesty

Cruiserweight Championship Match
Paul London vs Nunzio (c)-Not keen as Nunzio as champ, and i suppose you need a title change on this PPV

Hell In A Cell Match
Undertaker vs Goldberg-If Goldberg wins, i riot. Expect Taker to pick up the victory here as Goldberg is no use whatsoever and can make Taker look very strong in process.

RAW vs SmackDown! Challenge; Tag Team Match
Stone Cold" Steve Austin & Sting vs Randy Orton & Booker T-Orton, Booker steal win here leading to Raw winning ten man tag at Survivor Series.

Grudge Match
Chris Jericho vs JBL-This one could go either way but i am going with JBL for this one

Grudge Match
Chris Benoit vs Finlay-This should be a fantastic match and expect Benoit to get revenge for Finlay costing Benoit his match with Lesnar.

Good card Renegade and will try to leave a review when it is up
