Raw Review- ORRY420 (Why wait)
Decent start to the show here with Cena typically running down the fans, throwing out plenty of his usual catch phrases. The length of this segment probally hurt it a bit, but the quick beat down of Kane was well written, with Cena coming out very strong in the end. Kane's credibility might have been damaged slightly considering he got taken out so quickly, so I expect the Big Red Machine to gain one up on his rival next week. By the way, the commentators after the segment said Cena challenged Kane to a match at Bad Blood, when it is in fact Unforgiven- slight miss hap in detail which isn't too important I suppose.
Lita vs. Mickie James:
I've never been a fan of Women's wrestling, the matches just appear dull and lifeless to me, but with the same three divas wrestling over and over (not just in your thread but basically in everyone elses), it makes it all that much worse. In another match between Mickie and Lita, the Rated R Superstar makes his presence felt, and as a result Lita manages to pick up the win and guarentee herself a match with Trish Stratus, presumebly next week. Edge's Spear was a nice touch and a good way to further get him over as a strong heel.
Lance Cade/Mark Jindrak Promo:
Standard promo from the Tag Team Champs, hyping themselves up and donwgrading every other team on Raw. Hit and miss promo here which probally wasn't entirely neccessary.
Edge/Lita/Trish Stratus Segment:
Another decent segment from you Gade, with Lita and Edge confronting the Women's Champion and guarenteeing victory next week. This was a little shaky, but despite that I have a feeling Lita might take the strap, but where she goes from there is anyone's guess.
12 Man Tag Team Match:
A pretty good match considering the teams involved. To be honest none of the 6 tandems appeal to me in the slightest, and with another old team in the Dudleys being brought back, the future of the tag team division is looking pretty glim. May I suggest brining in London/Kendrick or even LAX to liven things up? The match itself turned out to be pretty good, and with the Champs picking up the cheap win, I have a feeling we may see a title switch at Unforgiven.
Carlito/Monty Brown Segment:
The promos tonight have been a little shakey to be honest, and this was another example of that. The interaction between Brown and Carlito seemed off to me, and Brown's character, although quite hard to capture, was not written perfectly. In any event it looks like a feud might develop out of this, which should be pretty interesting in the long run.
Christian/RVD/Shelton Benjamin Segment:
Another example of a hit and miss segment, I guess it's just that kind of week (everyone has them
). Christian was fine for the most part, but when Van Dam and Shelton hit the ring things seemed to go downhill. Foley's announcement was a good one, and the match at the PPV should be phenomenal, and I think I'm pretty safe in sayign Christian will
pick up the win.
Rhyno vs. Raven:
As expected, this matcht urned out to be quite brutal, which ios fitting considering the feud these to have been developing in over the past few months. I had a slight inkling Holly might make his presence felt, and low and behold he did just that. Rhyno retains the strap, and a blow off match between the Champ and Holly is a given now.
Charlie Hass vs. Val Venis:
The Intercontinental Champion squashes Raw's resident jobber, and the feud between both AJ and Hass continues to be built nicely. Styles is taking the belt at Unforgiven in the rubber match of this feud, bvut it's great to see you are pushing Hass continuely hard as well.
HHH vs. Vince McMahon:
This.........was unexpected. The promo before the match was fine, DX seemed in character for the most part. The contest itslf turned out to be everything I thought it would be- until the end. HBK interferes and lays out the Game, before doing the same to McMahon. Vince falls on top of Triple H, and the pinfall is counted resulting in Vince Mcahon winning the WWE Championship! Wow! A suprisning end to a very entertaining night, and I can only wonder where you will go from here!
The matches were at there brilliant best, but the promos were quite shakey this week. Nether the less the show was very enjoyable, and McMahon winning the Title is without a doubt the biggest shock of the new year so far. You're guarenteed to get an award in the January voting for this one. 8/10
ORRY'S Smackdown! Review- Quick Comments
Benoit going over Hassan is definately the right choice, and I can't wait to see how far the Crippler goes in the tournament. Not sure who the favourite is at this stage, as long as it's not the 2 men who advanced last week.
Heyman segment would have been good to see written out in full, and a Holly/Rhino encounter should be gruesome to say the least.
Helsm basically destroys yet another Cruiserweight, as is record breaking reign contiues. This man desperately needs some competition, maybe a new signee?
The FBI/MNM segment was intriguing, and it looks as if we may have a three way tag team feud in the works! IMO, the FBI is a step below the other two teams in terms of quality, but it will be interesting to see where you go with it.
I wonder what Heyman was talking to Randy about???? I know it's gonna be something big!
AMW basically squash the Mexicools and continue to look strong as a team and as tag team champs. The attack from the FBI after was a nice touch, and with MNM looking on from the stage, the possibilities concerning this feud are endless.
Lesnar/Angle confrontation was awesome, which leads me to believe that Brock is an enormous chance in winning the tournament and facing Kurt at No Mercy. BTW, this Road to No Mercy tournament is a very similar concept to that of my ownKidding mate.
Good to see Helms may be getting some competition in the coming months, but in the form of Nunzio? Maybe after he destorys the Italian in this feud also, a new guy can step up to the plate and pose a real challenge?
Divas match to act as a filler which should previde suitable time for that much needed bathroom break.
JBL promo would of course been highly entertaining, and his match with Hardy younger should be an awesome encounter. Speaking of the Hardy's, where's the United States Champion tonight?
Main event time and the result eher was pretty obvious, with Taker making wuite light work of Regal to advance in the tourney.
Overall: Good recap show, and things on Smackdown! are definately heating up. An interest of note is that many big stars, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Jericho, Kennedy, Batista, Lashley etc were missing from tonoghts show. Maybe a 6 Man Tag Team match could have been booked?
