WWE.com Smackdown News

Changes to the GAB PPV Next Week
There are some changes to the upcomming Smackdown PPV, The Great American Bash. There will be two matches no happening at the PPV and instead, will happen next week on Friday Night Smackdown. The matches are Gregory Helms will be defending the Crusierweight Championship against Tajiri, and also Paul Burchill will be defending the TV Championship against The Sandman next week on Smackdown. Now dont worry about TGAB as Teddy Long pulled those two matches mentioned above and replace them with two more huge matches. First, it will be Rookie taking on Legend as Mr. Kennedy looks to make a name for himself against the man they call, Goldberg. The 2nd match should be up as a MOTY canadate as it is, MNM defending the WWE Tag Team Championship against The Hardy Boyz in a TLC Match.

Who Will Teddy Long Pick to face Hulk Hogan?
We been hearing rumors all week about who Teddy Long will pick to face Hulk Hogan. The rumors we heard that it will be Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Sabu, Jeff Jarrett, and we even heard that it might be Raw's John Cena. Whoever Teddy Long pick is, it is sure to surpise many.

Some good news and GAB looks like it's got an absolutely loaded card, so it should be a cracker.

SmackDown looking good also, and your banner is pretty decent for someone new.

Re: WWE 2006 by randyorton24 and Renegade™

I have a problem guys, yesterday my Sister had to be taken to the hostpital so I wont be able to post Smackdown like I thought today. Instead, it will be posted tomarrow. The good thing is that I only have the last part of Smackdown which is the main event of Jericho/Benoit to do. So it might be up later tonight but if not, then it will be up tomarrow.

Re: WWE 2006 by randyorton24 and Renegade™

Raw Review

HHH, McMahon Promo: a good segmant to kick off the show, Vince and HHH were in charachter and it was entertaining to say the least, it could have gone on a bit longer with a response from HHH after the promise from Vince though.

Tag Match: A Good opening match, was a bit confusing in some places but the match overall was good, all the teams came off strong and im glad the NAO won the tag match...good opener

Bischoff/Foley Segmant: a good segmant with these two, i expected Brown to be a bit more vocal but it was a good segmant between foley and bischoff, i look forward to see the Additions to the war games match.

Masters Vs Haas: Average match, Masters seemed a little weak and i expected more offence for both men, nice to see Haas getting a good reign with this belt and the match overall wasn't bad.

Cabana: A Good cabana developing the bad blood between cena and austin, nice segmant between all 3 men and i think Carlito might slide into this fued somewhere.

Masters And Hall: a short segmant and i see Hall and Masters at the next ppv with maybe Haas in the mix aswell, a good quick segmant with this fued slowly progressing.

Rhino Vs Dupree Short match, expected it to be a bit more Hardcore but you got it done in the end, Rhino seems like he is getting a good reign with the Hardcore belt and the match was good overall.

[B]GM Segmant: Excellent segmant, this was total brilliance though you may have bought 2 big names in so quicky but it was at exactly the right moment, Foley and Bischoff came off excellent on the mic, the attacks were well placed and the run-in was excellent, best thing so far.

McMahon Vs HHH + Aftermath: Good match, obvious HHH Would retain but the shock value at the end was priceless, Jindrak the masked man only for HHH to get nailed with a SCM, i see HBK is in the coopration wich is another point for McMahon.

Overall: a solid show...some nice suprises and turns wich can only be good, solid show and expect some more reviews from me....8/10.

Re: WWE 2006 by randyorton24 and Renegade™

I said I’d review your last PPV so here is the very late Bad Blood review:

Bad Blood Review

Heat

Good to see the Women’s Title showcased as it is not a part of the PPV. I didn’t expect there to be a title change, but it will be good to see Gail Kim as champion.

World Tag Team Title Match

This match started off a little slowly but managed to pick up the pace and had a few nice spots. I liked Billy Gunn’s dive to the outside, it was a bit different to his usual offence. The ending was pretty good too and put the Corporation over as heels nicely. I expect there will be a rematch down the road, since the NAO should have a rematch clause, but I can see a similar ending to this match.
Rating: **½/5

Vince interview

Awesome! Great to see you will be introducing the War Games Match at SummerSlam, and it’s going to be under elimination rules too! Should be a classic and I hope Team Foley wins.
Rating: ***/5

Sting vs. Kane

I expected this match to be further up the card but I can understand why it is here, as it has a completely different dynamic to the previous match. The start of the match was good with Sting tricking Kane, and the match really kept to a good pace throughout. I thought the chokeslam through the table was way too early in the match and it mean that Sting looked a little unrealistic in his quick comeback, but apart from that, this contest was awesome. It reminded me of the old Hardcore Title matches where they would always battle through the crowd and into the backstage area, but this time it was even better! The kitchen brawl made me laugh, and this match had an awesome finish, and it was a nice way to end this feud.
Rating: ****½/5

Christian interview

Really strong segment here, you caught Christian’s character exceptionally well and also added some last minute hype to his match with The Rock. I can see Rock getting the win here after taking two defeats to Christian, but I hope Christian doesn’t go down without a fight.
Rating: ****/5

RVD vs. Shelton Benjamin

Pretty good match that was never going to disappoint. I thought you did a great job of showing Shelton’s abilities in terms of wrestling holds, and you showcased RVD’s aerial skills nicely too, especially with the leg guillotine that took both guys down to the outside. I thought this match was possibly a little short for these two, but nonetheless a great read.
Rating: ***½/5

Corporation backstage

Vince seemed in character here and did a decent job of putting himself and his tactics for tonight’s main event over. The others seemed a little out of character, and I would have liked Test to have spoken.
Rating: **½/5

King of the Mountain

This is the match I was most looking forward to. It was another violent match and seemed like a spot fest, which I personally love but I can imagine some people would not have been keen to see. I never thought Haas would retain his IC Title in this one but I’m happy that he did, and he should be used well after this to show what a fighting champ he can be. One thing I thought could have been done better was the penalty box situation, as I thought you should have maybe had 1 or 2 more pin falls.
Rating: ****/5

The Rock interview

Rock was his usual self which was good to see. You had a good balance of intensity and humour here, and it’s nice for The Rock to get a word in after hearing Christian’s interview earlier.
Rating: ****/5

Austin vs. Edge

I liked how Edge was used in this match and he would do anything to come away with the victory. The pre-match fight was great and very Austin-like in the way it was done, and this match seemed to have everything needed for these two guys. I thought the ending was slightly anti-climatic as Lita could have played a bigger part in the match and not just helping Edge right at the end.
Rating: ***½ /5

Cena rap

Good on you to make one of these up! They’re damn hard to write. I am quite impressed with this too, it seemed quite like what Cena would include and had a nice finish.
Rating: ***/5

The Rock vs. Christian

Decent match here and it was good to see The Rock talking on the mic mid way through. It’s something you don’t see often and I think it helped this match somewhat. What I don’t like is the amount of finishers used in matches, as they always seem to kick out of the first finisher.
Rating: ***/5

Lumberjacks head to the ring

It seems that there’s loads of lumberjacks for this one, and I can see Cena retaining his title here with help from a lumberjack – my pick is Test screwing Triple H.

WWE Title Match

Wow, this was the most exciting match of the evening by far. There was so much surrounding it and it was action packed throughout. I thought Austin played a great role here and I can see him facing Cena in a match somewhere down the road. And best of all, D-X are back – the full D-X and the one I liked the best with X-Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn! Great way to end the show and a title change too!
Rating: ****½/5

Verdict

Well, it took me a while to get round to it after losing track of this BTB a few months back, but this was an awesome PPV and I really enjoyed reading it. I look forward to seeing where D-X go, and who Triple H’s first title defence will be against. My guess is Edge.

Grade: B+

Re: WWE 2006 by randyorton24 and Renegade™

WWE Friday Night Smackdown

We open the show with Teddy Long in his office.

Teddy Long: Hulk Hogan, Hogan, I found the perfect guy to kick your ass at GAB. But since you are going to be here tonight, you can meet the guy face to face in the ring later on tonight. Now, to all the Smackdown Players out there, we have a great show for you. In a Crusierweight Tag Team Match, Gregory Helms and Jamie Noble will face Tajiri and Ultimo Dragon. The Main Event will be up for Match Of The Year probably as it will be Chris Benoit taking on Chris Jericho and the winner will face Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Championship at The Great American Bash. Also, Kurt Angle will be the guest Ref for the match. Now Players, let me hear you Holla Holla Holla!!!!

The Smackdown Video hits as the fireworks go off and the fans are on there feet screaming to the top of there lungs.

Tazz: Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown and we are live tonight from the Big Easy, New Orleans, LA. Tonight we have a high packed show for you all.
Cole: That's right, we will learn who will face Kurt Angle for the World Championship at Great American Bash when Chris Benoit faces off against Chris Jericho. Not only that, but Brock Lesner and Batista will have a contract signing for there match at GAB. But we kick thing off with Crusierweight Tag Team Action.

Jamie Noble/Gregory Helms vs Tajiri/Ultimo Dragon
Finish- A very quick crusierweight tag team match as it is mainly Noble and Tajiri in the ring with Tajiri trying to get a hold of Gregory Helms but Helms will not tag himself in. Jamie Noble set up Tajiri for a Tiger Bomb but Tajiri rolls through with a roll up but Helms finally comes in the ring to break the pin. Tajiri gets mad and goes after Helms and does a hard stiff kick to Helms who was getting out of the ring. Tajiri turns around and Jamie Noble connects with a tiger bomb. Jamie tags in Helms as Helms comes in and sees Tajiri getting on his knees. Gregory Helms does the shinning wizard and makes the cover and hooks the tights for the 3 count.
Winners, Jamie Noble and Gregory Helms

Cole: That damn Gregory Helms, he used the shinning wizard which knocked out Tajiri but he also hooked the tights just to rub it in.
Tazz: Yeah, but look what is coming up next. Booker T will be out here and we heard that he will be calling out The Undertaker. Its Next!!!!

Commercials

Can You Dig It, Sucka hits and Booker T walks out looking kinda scared. He dont even do his fireworks as he walks down the ramp. He gets in the ring and grabs a mic.

Booker T: As you all know, I lost when I faced The Undertaker but I wont do that anymore. You see, The Undertaker is nothing more than a freak and that is why, in two weeks at The Great American Bash, I will kick the freak's ass in a casket match. Then after all of you fans cheer my name and after I do my Spinoroonie, then I will have one, and only one goal in mind and that is to become, the six time, yes, six time World Champion. That's right, I will become a World Champion, once again because I will end the one man who everybody thinks is the best ever, and that is The Undertaker. Taker, why wait untill GAB, huh? I say, Taker, bring your dead ass out here so I can kick it.

Booker T waits for a few seconds before the lights go out but The Undertaker dont come out. Instead we hear his voice.

Undertaker: Booker T, you think you can beat me? Booker, you are just one of the names on a very very long list that tryed to end the Deadman's carrer and guess what, every single one of them felled. Booker T, at Great American Bash, I will face you in a Casket Match, but what you say wont happen. Booker T, at Great American Bash, you will Rest In Peace!!!!

As soon as Undertaker finished saying Peace, the ring caught fire just like you would see in a Inferno Match. Booker T is in the ring scared.

Cole: Wow, some mind games from The Undertaker who in two weeks, will face that man in a casket Match. But we just got word from the Smackdown General Manager, Teddy Long and he just informed us some changes to the upcomming PPV. As of now, the Crusierweight Championship Match between Gregory Helms and Tajiri will not take place at the ppv and instead will happen next week right here on Smackdown. But dont worry though because, Tazz, tell them what will replace the Crusierweight Title Match.
Tazz: Well fans, are you ready for a rocketbuster? Because Teddy Long just made this match, for the WWE Tag Team Championship, MNM will defend against The Hardy Boyz in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match at the PPV next week. Coming up next, Randy Orton will take on Bobby Lashley. Here is what happen last week between the two.

We see footage of last week when Bobby Lashley saved Jillian Hall from Randy Orton.

Commercials

We are back and "The Real Deal" hits and Bobby Lashley makes his way out on the ramp. He gets ready to raise his hands for the pyro but Randy Orton hits him from behind with a chair and Bobby falls to the ramp. Randy Orton steps back and kicks Lashley in the midsection and Bobby rolls down the ramp. Bobby Lashley slowly pulls himself by using the apron but Randy Orton cracks him in the head with the chair. Randy Orton hits the back of Lashley three more times with that chair. He slides Bobby Lashley in the ring and he makes the ref call for the bell to start the match.

Randy Orton vs Bobby Lashley
Finish- Randy Orton pulls Bobby Lashley up and connects with a RKO. Randy Orton covers but the ref dont really wants to count untill Randy Orton starts screaming at him and the ref counts the three.
Winner, Randy Orton

Cole: Tazz, did you see what Randy Orton just did? He attacked a young Bobby Lashley on his way out here and then even still went thought with the match even though Lashley had no chance of winning. That is uncall for.

Backstage we see The Sandman holding his Kendo Stick.

Sandman: Paul Burchill, I have some news for you. You see, Pauley, it was going to be you and me at GAB for the TV Title but guess what, I am not waiting untill The Great American Bash, no, I wont, Paul Burchill, I get my TV Championship Match next week on Friday Night Smackdown and the match will be a Kendo Stick Match.

Sandman opens up a can of beer and smashes his hand with it and stares at the camera.

Commercials

Backstage Josh Matthews is standing by with Chris Benoit.

Josh Matthews: Chris Benoit, later tonight you will face, Y2J, Chris Jericho and the winner will be the number 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, and Kurt Angle will be the ref, your thoughts?
Chris Benoit: Well, Josh, I dont know what have got into Teddy Long's head. He damn sure knows that Kurt Angle will not call this match right down the middle. Hell, I know it, Jericho knows it, you know it Josh, even Santa Clause knows it. With that being said, I will do my best to try to win this match and if I win, Angle, I will become the World's Champ. Everyone, Prove Me Wrong!!!!!

We are back in the arena and there is a table set up with two chairs on each side of it. There is a clipboard with papers in the center of the table. Nick Pattrick haves a mic.

Nick Pattrick: The following is the contract signing for Lesnar/Batista 1 next Sunday at The Great American Bash. I, Refree, Nick Patrick, will ref the match against these two men. First please welcome, "The Next Big Thing" Brock Lesnar.

Here Comes The Pain hits and Brock Lesnar comes out to a mix reaction. He jumps on the ring apron and enters the ring. He picks up a mic on the table.

Brock Lesnar: You are right about one thing, Nick. The match will be against two big men and only one Animal can come out of the ring the winner. Nick, you are also wrong about one thing. I am not "The Next Big Thing", I am "The Big Thing" and Batista, you are just like the other "Big" men that tried to beat me but can't, they all fail and Batista, that is what will happen to you at GAB, you will FAIL!!!!

Brock Lesner sits the mic down and he sits down in the chair.

Nick Pattrick: Well, please welcome the man that Brock Lesnar will face at The Great American Bash, The Animal Batista.

Batista comes out to a huge ovation. He walks down the ramp and enters the ring. He dont even pick up the mic as he picks up the pen and signs his name on the line. He then throws the clipboard at Lesnar. Brock Lesnar stands up clearly mad that Batista threw the clipboard. Brock Lesnar picks up the pen and signs his name to the contract. Brock Lesnar and Batista stares into each other eyes neither man making a move. Brock Lesnar starts to back off but Brock Lesnar jumps over the table but Batista catches him and slams him down to the mat. Batista picks him up and sets him up for the Batista Bomb but Brock Lesner quickly drop to his knees and rolls out of the ring. Brock Lesnar leaves up the ramp as Batista just stares on at him.

Commercials

Backstage Josh Matthews is with Chris Jericho.

Josh Matthews: Chris Jericho, later tonight you will be in a match with Chris Ben.....
Chris Jericho: Listin up, Jackass. Dont you think I know who I am facing tonight? I mean, everywhere I go I hear about it. I heard it at the airport. I heard it in the radio on the ride in my long limo to the arena. Then, Jr. once I got to the arena, I heard it from the gaurds and the fans. Man, I think I know who I am facing. The real question is, does Chris Benoit know who he is facing. I dont think he does because he is facing the first EVVVVVVVVER Undisputed Champion. He facing the only man to ever beat The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the very same night at Vengeance 2001. He is facing the man who sold millions and millions of records with Fozzy. He is facing Y2J, Chris Jericho, The King of the World and after tonight, next week, I will be The Champion of the World.

Chris Jericho walks off with a huge smile on his face.

Jimmy Hart's music hits and The Mouth of the South, Jimmy Hart comes out to a good pop. He gets in the ring and grabs a mic.

Jimmy Hart: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, Hulk Hogan.

Real American hits and Hulk Hogan comes out to a standing ovation. He walks down the ramp and enters the ring and does his taunts.

Hulk Hogan: Let me tell you something, Brothers. I am sick and tired of this GM, Teddy. So Teddy, get your ass out here, Brother.

We wait a few secs and Holla Holla hits and Teddy Long comes out to brand new music. It is the same song just a little slower. He stop on the ramp and stares at Hulk Hogan.

Teddy Long: Player, Player, Player, you are nothing but a old wash up peice of crap. I should of fired your ass a long time ago. Hulk Hogan, you were never a Icon, a Legend, in my book. You were just a midcarder and that is where you will be at The Great American Bash. Better yet, you wont be a midcarder, you will be the curtian jerker because at The Great American Bash, our match is going on first so you will know what it feels like to lose the very first match since you know, player, you never felt that before. Now, you might be wondering who you will face at GAB? Well see, when I fired you around Judgment Day, I also fired someone else. You see Hollywood, I fired a former NWO member when I fired your old ass. In matter of fact, let me introduce you to him.

Teddy Long point behind Hogan and Hulk turns around and Kevin Nash is in the ring and cracks a chair off the head of Hogan. Hogan is busted open as Nash picks him up and does a botch Jackiefe Powerbomb. Teddy Long enters the ring and raise the hand of Kevin Nash.

Teddy Long: Hulk Hogan, you know the deal, if you win, then I will leave Smackdown forever and you can go back to wrestling two times a year. But when I win, you never step foot in a WWE ring again. As for Big Kev over here, well, say hello to your new Smackdown Superstar. Oh, hey Player, before I leave, Hulk Hogan, you will be in a match next week on Friday Night Smackdown. It will be you and Brock Lesnar taking on Batista and Kevin Nash. I would tell you to Holla Holla Holla, but I dont think you can hear me.

Teddy Long smiles and does the Hulk Hogan taunts as him and Big Kev leaves the ring.

Commercials

Backstage Josh Matthews this time is with, the ref for tonight's main event and the World Heavyweight Champion, Kurt Angle.

Kurt Angle: You know what, Josh, just go away.

Josh looks at Kurt and Kurt act like he was going to hit him and Josh runs away.

Kurt Angle: I know that he was going to ask if I was going to call the match right down the middle and as a fellow american and gold medlist. I will do my best and I will call the action right down the line. It's True, It's Damn True.

Kurt Angle leaves as we go back into the arena.

Jeff Hardy vs Johnny Nitro
Finish- A real quick match that Johnny Nitro wins after Joey Mercury trips Hardy on the top rope while Matt had the ref. Johnny Nitro then nails a hard brainbuster suplex from the top rope for the three.
Winner, Johnny Nitro

After the match, MNM runs off with the titles as Jeff and Matt looks on.

Commercials

We are back on Smackdown and The World's Champion, Kurt Angle in a ref shirt is already in the ring holding up his title. Break The Walls Down hits and Y2J, Chris Jericho comes out. He spins around in the stage before walking down the ramp and entering the ring. Whatever hits and Chris Benoit comes out. He stares down the ramp and he takes off running down it and slides in the ring.

Winner faces Kurt Angle for the World Championship at The Great American Bash
Ref- Kurt Angle
Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho

Finish- A very good back and forth match and Kurt Angle called it down the middle. Chris Jericho trips Chris Benoit up and locks in the Walls of Jericho. Chris Benoit is screaming with Kurt asking if he gives up. Chris makes it to the ropes and Jericho thought he won but Angle told him no. Chris Jericho is mad as he shoves Kurt Angle on his ass. Chris Jericho turns around and Chris Benoit takes him down and locks in the Crossface. Kurt Angle is standing up and he looks down and he kicks Chris Benoit in the head. Kurt Angle picks Chris Benoit up and does a hard Angle Slam. Kurt Angle also picks Chris Jericho up and nails a Angle Slam. Kurt Angle goes outside the ring and grab his World Title belt. He pulls Benoit up and crack him in the head. Kurt Angle have snap. He also nails Chris Jericho in the head with the belt.
No Contest

Kurt Angle holds up the World Championship but Holla Holla hits again and Teddy Long comes out.

Teddy Long: Hey, Angle, I like you as my World Champion, but player, you just cost me of watching a great match between Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit, and player, I dont like that. Kurt Angle, you wanna know who you will face at Great American Bash? Well, I just thought of a great match and it is something that never been in WWE History before. Kurt Angle you will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship against both, Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho at The Great American Bash. Also the match will be something special. Kurt, we are going to get a great match at The Bash because the only way you can win the Triple Threat Match is by winning two falls. That's right, the first person to win two falls either by Pin or Submission will be the World's Champion.

Kurt Angle looks pissed off as Teddy Long leaves and Smackdown goes off the air.
